Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
B
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire Biblical story, but the center of it. Hey friends, welcome back to Year in the Bible. I'm Alexa and I'm here with my co host Beth.

Hi everyone. So this week we have looked at Isaiah 7, 10, 14 and Matthew 1:21 23. And now we want to bring those two passages together and discuss how they point us to Christ. So Alexa, can you help us see how these passages speak to us about Jesus?
B
Yeah, our passages are really fun this week because as we see in Matthew 1:21 23, what is being said about Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of what God says in Isaiah 7, 10, 14. Fulfillment passages are just really exciting because they show us God's promises fulfilled. So what God says always comes to pass years later. What God said in Isaiah 7, 1014 is brought about with the birth of Christ. But that begs the question, okay, how is it exactly fulfilled? So a couple ways in which Jesus fulfills Isaiah 7, 10, 14. First is by coming to earth and taking on flesh, Jesus made it possible for God to be with his people in a unique way. And so God comes near in the person of Jesus Christ. As Jesus is born as a child and eventually grows up to walk and talk amongst God's people, but Jesus also provides a way for us to have a relationship with God. The salvation that Jesus gives us not only covers our sins, it brings us into relationship with God. And so as followers of Christ, we are able to say God is with us because we have a relationship with him and his presence lives in us through the Holy Spirit.
A
Yeah, I think I've heard it put like this before that God came to be with man so that man could be brought to God. So Jesus came to be with us in order to restore our relationship with God that was broken by sin. So are there more ways that Isaiah 7, 10, 14 is fulfilled by Christ?
B
Well, we discussed on Tuesday how God addressed the people of Judah as house of David and how God was remaining faithful to his promises to David to always have a king on God's throne. And as we see in our study day today, Judah's kings may mess up. Ahaz fails to trust God, and he trusts in Assyria instead. And even though Hezekiah was overall a good king, Hezekiah fell into pride. And yet, even though these kings failed and God's people experienced judgment, God was continuing to be faithful to his promises, in particular his promises to David. And so Jesus isn't just Emmanuel, he's the Promised Messiah, the true and better King of isra, who brings ultimate salvation and restoration by forgiving sinners and restoring them in their relationship with God.

That's beautiful. Passages like this are so exciting. Now that we have learned so much of these cool connections, we get to come back tomorrow and talk about how these things can impact our everyday lives. So we will see you then.
