Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
B
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire Biblical story, but but the center of it. Hey friends. Welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm joined by my co host Beth.

Hi everyone. So this week we have studied Isaiah 7, 10, 14 and Matthew 1:21 23 and we've learned that Jesus is our long awaited king who enables us to have a relationship with God. So now we want to spend some more time thinking about how we want to apply what we've learned this week. So Alexa, how are you planning on applying these two texts?
B
Yeah, I've just been thinking more about what it means that Jesus is our Emanuel and how that impacts just my everyday life. I think it's really easy for me to know in my mind that God is with me, but I don't think I actively live with that awareness that God is with me. And so when my circumstances are good, I might not think about God that much. And so I'm not thinking about his presence with me. And then when my circumstances aren't good, I might seek God more than I do when my life is good. But I don't think I trust in the truth that God is with me in those circumstances. And I think it's because I might not feel like God's presence is all that palpable in my pain. But I actually think that's because I'm not actively considering God's presence and meditating on God's presence. Instead I'm trying to, you know, numb the pain with technology, all the while being like, God doesn't feel near to me and of course he doesn't feel near to me if I'm not actually making that space to be still and to talk to God and be in His Word and just reminding myself of his nearness. So this week is really convicting to me and it's just reminding me to consider God's presence more in both the good and the bad times and to really embrace the gift of God's presence in the more painful moments of life by just choosing to cling to his nearness. So what about you, Beth.
A
Yeah, I love that. Along similar lines, I also want to be more aware of God's presence with me, especially in these last few months, these early newborn days. You feel very isolated when you're awake at two in the morning alone with a crying baby. But passages like this encourage me that even in those times when I feel pretty helpless and alone, I have Christ with me and so I'm never truly alone and he is my help and my strength. So the truths that we learned this week are really encouraging in this season of my life and reminding me to just continue to further seek Christ's presence in those times. So with all of that, we can move into a time of prayer. So use the prompts that Alexa is about to share to guide you in speaking with God, the God who is with us today.

Praise Jesus for being your King who has delivered you from sin. Praise God for making it possible for him to be with you in Christ and by the Spirit. Pray that your faith will be strengthened in all circumstances as you trust in God's presence with you. Thanks so much for joining us today, friends.
