Welcome to A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
B
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but but the center of it.

Hi friends. Welcome back to A Year of the Bible. My name is Beth and I am here with my co host Alexa.
C
Hello. Today we are going to wrap up our discussion of Jeremiah 31, 31, 34 and Luke 22:14, 20. We have seen how Christ is the fulfillment of Jeremiah's prophecy that God will establish a new covenant with his people.
B
Where he will forgive their sins and.
C
Write his law on their hearts. So, so today we're going to talk about what this means for our daily lives. So, Beth, how do you plan to apply these passages moving forward?
A
Yeah, so one kind of different takeaway I have is that I want to better notice how the Spirit has been working in my life to produce obedience. I think when we talk about application on this podcast, as well as just like generally in our churches, we often focus on things that we do wrong or ways that we could do better. But that's not always the whole picture. God has established a new covenant with us through the blood of Christ and He has given us His Spirit. Which means that I can reasonably look back at my life and see ways that God has worked in my heart to produce obedience to his laws. So one example of this in my life is that the Spirit has helped me to overcome some pretty serious bad habits I had of comparison. So about three years ago, I felt convicted about the ways that I would sin when I was scrolling through my Instagram specifically. So with a lot of resistance and back and forth constantly, I eventually recognized that the Spirit was compelling me to delete my Instagram. And I don't just mean to delete the app off my phone, I mean to like totally delete my account. I did it once, but you get a two week window to actually reactivate it. And I definitely did that. But after seeing some of those same sinful patterns arise, I finally listened to the Spirit leading in my life and I totally deleted it and actually deleted all other social media as well. And honestly, I haven't looked back in three years. Given the amount of peer pressure that I face and the pride that I know is in my heart. I know that that's not something that I have been able to do without the Spirit lead me and my life is clearly better for it because I am. Yeah. Removed from those sinful habits and the things that were causing those sinful habits. And so I think it's really encouraging and helpful for us to think back on ways that the Spirit has worked in us since our salvation. Do you have any examples of this, Alexa?
C
Yeah. One area in which I have seen the Spirit sanctify me is through my attitude. When my husband and I first got married, I didn't have a whole lot of self control. When my husband became upset about something, you know, it was like easily defensive and, you know, not, not quick to, to forgive. And I, I did the opposite of what James says about being slow to speak in anger. I was quick to blow up and freak out instead of trying to be patient and talk calmly. And I've seen this spirit grow me over the years by helping me not react so fiery to my husband. I've noticed that I've handled certain situations more calmly and have been more quick to seek forgiveness rather than being defensive and argumentative. I know I still have much to grow in in that area. If my husband was listening to this podcast, he would agree. But that just reminds me how sanctification is. It's progressive and we shouldn't expect to be perfect, you know, on this side of eternity. But it's encouraging to look back and see the ways we are being sanctified over time. Well, as we end our time today, we are going to do so with prayer. After Beth reads each prayer prompt, take a moment to respond in prayer to the Lord.

Praise God for His faithfulness to establish a new covenant with his people in spite of our sin. Thank him for ways that His Spirit has worked in your heart to produce obedience to God. Ask that he would continue to convict you of ways you can turn from sin and walk in obedience throughout your life. All right, friends. Well, that is it that we have for this week and that is actually it for volume three of the Christ in All of Scripture Study, which. Which is crazy. So go ahead and dust off your copies of volume four because we will be diving right in on Monday and we cannot wait to study the Bible. More with you again next week.

A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace
Episode: S4: Week 39 Day 5: Applying Jeremiah 31:31-34 & Luke 22:14-20
Date: September 26, 2025
Hosts: Beth & Alexa
This episode explores how the New Covenant, prophesied in Jeremiah 31:31-34 and fulfilled by Jesus as told in Luke 22:14-20, shapes the practical daily lives of believers. Beth and Alexa discuss the presence of Christ throughout the Bible and the enduring impact of the Holy Spirit in sanctifying followers over time. The discussion is centered on recognizing and celebrating the Spirit's ongoing work, rather than focusing solely on personal shortcomings.
Beth explains that Christian application is often viewed through the lens of self-improvement or correction, but there’s value in recognizing how the Spirit has already produced growth and obedience (01:03-01:35).
Personal Example (Beth): Overcoming comparison and social media habits through the Spirit’s conviction and strength, leading her to fully delete Instagram and other platforms (01:35-02:39).
Alexa shares her growth in controlling her temper and practicing forgiveness within her marriage thanks to the Spirit’s influence (02:47-03:37).
“I know I still have much to grow in in that area. If my husband was listening to this podcast, he would agree. But that just reminds me how sanctification is. It’s progressive and we shouldn’t expect to be perfect… But it’s encouraging to look back and see the ways we are being sanctified over time.” (03:31-03:46)
Beth on spiritual progress, not just correction:
“I think when we talk about application on this podcast, as well as just generally in our churches, we often focus on things that we do wrong or ways that we could do better. But that’s not always the whole picture.” (01:08-01:19)
Alexa on real-life sanctification:
“I was quick to blow up and freak out instead of trying to be patient and talk calmly. And I’ve seen this Spirit grow me over the years by helping me not react so fiery to my husband.” (03:02-03:17) “Sanctification is… progressive and we shouldn’t expect to be perfect, you know, on this side of eternity. But it’s encouraging to look back and see the ways we are being sanctified over time.” (03:40-03:46)
Beth leads listeners in prayer:
The episode closes with excitement for the next volume of the “Christ in All of Scripture” study, encouraging listeners to continue their journey and reflect on the Spirit’s transformative work in their lives.
