Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily Grace. This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ in All of Scripture. Each week, we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
B
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but with the center of it. Hey, everyone. Welcome back to A Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm joined by my co host, Beth.
A
Hi, everyone. It is Friday again, and as always, we're going to spend today talking about how we're going to apply all that we've learned so far this week in our daily lives. And then we're going to end this episode with a time of prayer as well.
B
You mentioned this last week too, Beth, but I love getting to Fridays in the study and taking that next step in figuring out how I'm going to take all that I've learned this week about Christ and apply it to my life. So in wrapping up this week, I was meditating more on what stood out to me a lot in this week's study, which is Christ's power over Satan. Living on this side of eternity can be really hard. This world is just so broken, and it often seems like evil is always winning. And then when I think about my own personal life, it can sometimes feel like I'm in a losing battle with my sin. I fail time after time in my obedience to God, and that can get really exhausting and discouraging. But when I think about how Jesus has defeated Satan on the cross and one day will defeat him completely, that gives me hope in my struggle against sin. So whenever Satan tries to convince me that my sin is too weighty or that I can never please God because of my sin struggles, I can call to mind the truth that Christ has forgiven me and freed me from Satan's grip. So Satan doesn't get the final word. Jesus does because he saved me and loves me.
A
That's a really, really good takeaway. Really encouraging. It can get so incredibly easy to feel the weight and shame of our sin regularly. But what a relief that Christ is more powerful than our sin, more powerful than the brokenness in our world.
B
Yeah. And this week has made me wonder if I live every day in light of the victory that I have through Christ. And if I'm honest with myself, I don't think I live every day like that, but how hopeful and at peace would I be if I lived each day knowing and rejoicing in the truth that Satan doesn't have a hold on me. He truly has no power over me because of what Christ has done. So I don't want to act like he does in my daily life. Instead, I want to live a life of victory by continuing to fight against my sin with confidence and and resting in Christ's power within me to pursue obedience and faithfulness to Him.
A
I love that resting in Christ's power is definitely a reminder that I need constantly. I also really like the application question in the study. It Sundays to read 2 Corinthians 11:3 through 4 and then ask us to think about what is Paul exhorting the Corinthian believers to avoid and how can we guard ourselves against this type of deceit? And so that passage from 2 Corinthians is actually talking about how Satan is a deceiver and how we are easily deceived, particularly by people who preach us a false gospel or false teachings about Jesus. It was encouraging and convicting to think about ways that I might be being deceived, even unknowingly, and how I need to make sure that I'm regularly in Scripture so that I can recognize what is true teaching about Jesus and what is false teaching about Him. Well, it's now time for us to move into our prayer time. So every Friday we will share a few prayer prompts that will allow you to pray. Process all that you have learned this week with your teacher God. So take some time to pray with us. Alexa is going to lead us through a few prayer prompts.
B
Praise God for fulfilling his promise to Adam and Eve and defeating Satan through Christ. Ask Jesus to help you remember his defeat over Satan. When you struggle with your sin, pray that you will look to Christ's future victory often and that his future victory will give you hope in the present.
A
Well, that is all that we have for you for week four. We hope that you will join us again on Monday.
