Welcome to A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
Alexa
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire Biblical story, but the center of it.

Hi everyone. Welcome to A Year in the Bible. I'm Beth and this is my co host, Alexa.
Alexa
Hey friends. Today we are wrapping up our week by discussing how we can apply the two passages we have been studying this week. Ezekiel 36, 26:27 and Romans 8:1:4. So, Beth, how do you plan to practically apply all that we have talked about to your daily life?
Beth
So what we've learned this week is that God desires to remove sin from our lives and from the world. And he has begun that process by sending His Son to die for our sins. And he has given us His Spirit so that we can turn from our sin and walk in obedience. Obedience through Christ. He has removed our hard hearts and given us hearts that are hearts of flesh that are living and flourishing. But we know that this process has only just begun. Later, in Romans 8:23, Paul says that we are still awaiting our full redemption. And so in the meantime, we may still actually struggle with sin, even though we know that one day it's going to be fully removed from our lives and from the world as a whole. So my application takeaway is actually to look for ways to remind myself that God's way is the best way, even when my sinful nature still tries to convince me that it's not. I can do this practically by studying the Old Testament and seeing how walking in disobedience to God leads to destruction and despair for his people. And I can also do this by thinking through my own simple desires and following them to their logical conclusion to see the hurt, distortion, and negative consequences that they would cause. So when I face temptation to sin, whether that's through gossip or slander or envy or pride or impatience, I would like to focus my mind on that sin and how it will only lead to more bad things, and then ultimately ask the Spirit to lead me to the better option, the option that Christ would choose.

That's so good, Beth. That reminds me of First Corinthians 10:13, which says no temptation has come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with a temptation. He will also provide the way out so that you may be able to bear it. I I love that reminder that when temptation comes, God provides a way out. We don't have to feel like we are helpless and that there isn't any hope and we have the strength that we need through the Spirit to choose obedience to God instead. But I think that reminds us, and it reminds me that we don't need to immediately act when temptation arises. So when I'm tempted to sin, I don't have to just follow through with that sinful desire. Instead, I can take a moment to pause and consider the way out that God gives me through His Spirit. And I can choose a different way, the better way well, as we end our time today, we are going to do so with prayer. So after Beth reads these prayer prompts for us, take a moment to stop and pray to the Lord.
Beth
Praise God that He did not give up on his people. Ask the Spirit to guide you and encourage you when you face temptation. Thank God for giving you His Spirit to actually help you walk in obedience. All right friends, thank you so much for joining us this week. We really love talking about about the Bible with you, so be sure to join us again on Monday as we start another week of seeing Christ in all of Scripture.
