Welcome to A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.

Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire Biblical story, but the center of it. Hi friends. Welcome to Year in the Bible. I'm Alexa and I'm here with my co host Beth everyone. So far this week we have learned a lot about Daniel 7, 13, 14 and Matthew 24, 2931. We have seen how Jesus is the Son of Man who will establish God's everlasting kingdom. And today we will discuss how these things we learned can be applied to our everyday lives. So Beth, how do you plan to apply these passages this week?
A
I think my primary takeaway this week is to take heart and have hope in the midst of earthly turmoil and chaos. I don't know about you, but I find the state of the world to be really overwhelming and depressing if I don't regularly keep my mind on the promises of God. Even now there is turmoil in so many countries. There are several wars that are either happening or seem like they're about to happen. There's a great deal of political unrest in our country, and I also personally get brought down by the culture's idolatry of consumerism and our obsession with success and knowledge and technological advancement. And then there's also a mental health crisis among young people and the list just goes on and on. There's a lot of bad in the world, but when I read Daniel 7, I can imagine these beasts representing all of those things. But the message of what we have read today is that God is still in control. He is the ancient of days. He has always been. He's seen every kingdom rise and fall, every sin that has been committed under the sun, every evil. And he is a God of justice and power. Christ has already come to assure us that God's kingdom is not far off. In fact, he tells us that God's kingdom is here and now. We have hope. Christ is reigning from heaven right now and he will one day return and reign fully in the flesh here on earth. So practically, when I get overwhelmed or saddened by the state of the world, I want to remember that Jesus reigns, that he is king of all things. So what about you, Alexa?
B
Yeah, that's so good, Beth. And I'm right there with you. I'm just really prone to becoming anxious in response to what's happening in the world. Even today I was looking at a news article and I was just like, man, this world is so, so incredibly broken. And even though I know that God is on the throne, I can forget that truth when I'm so focused on what I see going on in the world. And I feel like this week I've been really struck by that title of God, the Ancient of Days. And I actually remember that there's a song by City of Light that is called Ancient of Days, so I would encourage our listeners to listen to it. One part of the song says, though the nations rage, kingdoms rise and fall, There is still one king reigning over all. So I will not fear for this. Truth remains that my God is the ancient of days. So really beautiful. And I just want to live in faith rather than fear in this life knowing that God is on the throne and that Jesus rules and reigns. Even if I can't see it, I know that God is in control, that nothing that occurs in this world is too big for Him. And ultimately God will bring us through this life and into his eternal kingdom where there will be perfect peace. And that brings us great comfort as we live on this side of eternity. Well, we are going to end our time with prayer, so we encourage you to pray to the Lord in response to the prayer prompts Beth reads for us.

Take a moment to tell God the things that overwhelm you and cause you to despair. Ask him to comfort you this week with the truth that he is still in control of all things. Praise Jesus that He has come to be our King and that his kingdom is everlasting. Well, thank you all so much for joining us. We will see you back here on Monday where we will continue discussing how Jesus is present in all of Scripture.

Episode: S4: Week 42 Day 5: Applying Matthew 24:29-31 & Daniel 7:13-14
Date: October 17, 2025
Hosts: Alexa & Beth
This episode focuses on the practical application of two interconnected Scripture passages—Matthew 24:29-31 (New Testament) and Daniel 7:13-14 (Old Testament)—and the profound hope found in understanding Jesus’s role as the “Son of Man” and eternal King. The hosts, Alexa and Beth, reflect on how these truths can anchor believers when facing the chaos and discouragement of the world, and encourage listeners to respond in faith and prayerful trust.
Overwhelming World Events: Beth shares her personal struggle with feeling weighed down by global conflicts, cultural unrest, consumerism, and the mental health crisis. She relates these to the “beasts” in Daniel 7, representing all evil and turmoil.
[00:56] Beth:
“When I read Daniel 7, I can imagine these beasts representing all of those things. But the message of what we have read today is that God is still in control.”
Holding Fast to Kingdom Hope: Despite the darkness, Beth reminds herself and the audience that God is the “Ancient of Days,” sovereign over history and ruler above all earthly powers. Jesus’s kingdom is already present and will one day be fully realized.
[01:36] Beth:
“Christ is reigning from heaven right now and he will one day return and reign fully in the flesh here on earth.”
Dealing with Anxiety: Alexa admits to being easily unsettled by the state of the world, even when she knows in her mind that “God is on the throne.”
[02:23] Alexa:
“I’m just really prone to becoming anxious in response to what’s happening in the world... even though I know that God is on the throne, I can forget that truth when I’m so focused on what I see going on.”
The Comfort of God’s Sovereignty: Alexa is encouraged by God’s title, “Ancient of Days,” and the lyrics from CityAlight’s “Ancient of Days,” which she recites as a source of comfort:
“Though the nations rage, kingdoms rise and fall,
There is still one king reigning over all.
So I will not fear for this. Truth remains that my God is the ancient of days.” [02:55] Alexa
Trusting in the Eternal Kingdom: Alexa underscores the importance of faith over fear, knowing that “nothing that occurs in this world is too big for Him” and believers are destined for “his eternal kingdom where there will be perfect peace.”
[03:25] Alexa:
“God will bring us through this life and into his eternal kingdom where there will be perfect peace. And that brings us great comfort as we live on this side of eternity.”
“Take a moment to tell God the things that overwhelm you and cause you to despair. Ask him to comfort you this week with the truth that he is still in control of all things. Praise Jesus that He has come to be our King and that his kingdom is everlasting.”
The episode is warm, empathetic, and anchored in gospel hope. Alexa and Beth maintain a conversational, honest tone, modeling vulnerability about personal struggles while consistently pointing listeners to Jesus’s supremacy and faithfulness throughout Scripture. The practical application is clear: in a broken world, Christians are invited to steadfast hope and faith, building their lives on the unshakable truth that Christ reigns—now and forever.
