Hey, everyone. Welcome back to another episode of the Year in the Bible podcast. My name is Alexa and I'm joined by my co host, Beth.

We are back today to talk through this week's New Testament passage from Revelation.

[Alexa]

Yes, we're going to look at Revelation 5, 9, 10. So, Beth, what did you think about this annotation?

[Beth]

First of all, I love this passage. It's just so beautiful and such a great summary of the Gospel of what Jesus did for us. And so I really liked those annotation prompts that had us think through the stuff in the passage that is related to Jesus and then the stuff in the passage that's related to us, his people. And so we see from that that it's because of Christ that we were purchased and made God's people. So Jesus did the work, but we get to reap the benefits, which is just really cool. And so, yeah, it tells us that we have been made into a kingdom of priests and we were going to reign over the earth for God. And this just ties together so many of the biblical themes and promises, even some that we've already talked about just in the short year so far.

[Alexa]

Yeah, I love that. And you're right, this passage is just really beautiful and an incredible reminder of what Christ has accomplished for us. Is there anything else that you wanted to talk about from this passage?

[Beth]

Yeah, the other thing that I wanted to say is related to the last prompt. Last prompt says, how have the nations been blessed by Jesus? And I really just love that. First, it helped me to connect this passage to the verse that we read yesterday and the day before in Genesis 12. It shows us that Jesus is the one who is going to be the blessing to the nations that God promised to Israel. And then it shows us once again that all of God's promises are fulfilled through Jesus. So God made this promise to Abraham back in Genesis, and then we're seeing how it's fulfilled here in Revelation at the end of the Bible. And it's just. Yeah, once again, I am Just blown away by the fact that really every single promise, every single just plan and purpose that God has finds its fulfillment through Christ. Yeah. So we see that our blessings are numerous in Christ. And in this passage, we already see a few. We see that we're purchased by Christ's blood. We see that we're made into a kingdom for God, and that that comes with all of the benefits that we had just talked about.

Oh, yeah, that's just so good.

[Beth]

Yeah. Alexa, was there anything you wanted to point out from the sanitation day?

[Alexa]

Yeah, I mean, you already touched on this, but I loved circling every mention of the words you or your in this passage which are in relation to Jesus. And I just love how much doing that shows the amount that Jesus did. You know, he was slaughtered for us, but he also purchased us by his blood and he is the one who makes us a kingdom and priests. So all of those things connect with the beginning of the passage which calls Jesus worthy and he truly is worthy because of all that he's done for us through his sacrifice on the cross.
