Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
B
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire Biblical story, but the center of it.
C
Hey, everyone. Welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm joined with my co host, Beth.
A
Hi, everyone. We are here for another Friday and another fun day of application.
C
Yes. I'm super excited to chat about how we're planning on applying what we learned this week. So, Beth, do you want to share what application you've taken away from passages this week?
A
Yeah. I think it can be super easy to read passages like these and see the Christ connection and then just be like, whoa, that's really cool, and move on. But that is why I'm super thankful for these application focus days where we can really think about how what we've learned about Jesus impacts our lives now. So we see that Jesus is a blessing that God has promised to the nations that through him, all of the nations are going to be blessed. And this means a lot for me because I'm not a part of the nation of Israel. I'm not Jewish, so I actually am part of the nations that God has blessed through Jesus. Yeah, I just think that that's really cool that God made this promise thousands of years ago to this single group of people whenever he made this promise to Abraham. And then it has expanded to the entire world, to every single human that's born across the world. And that includes me. And so it's really interesting too how much it encourages me because like we talked about, I think it was on like day two, we talked about how Abraham messed up time and time again and so did all of his descendants. That's basically what the entire Old Testament is about. But God still kept his promise to Israel. And because of that, we can see that God's promises are still going to be kept for us. So even when I mess up time and time again, I can see that God, who made this promise thousands of years ago and fulfilled it in Jesus, has guaranteed my status as part of his people through the blood of Christ. And so he kept his promise to Israel, he kept his promise to the nations, and that means that he's keeping his promises to me, which is just really encouraging.
C
Yeah, I love that it really is a gift to belong to God, especially knowing that this gift is undeserved. So what else did you take away?
A
Yeah, I found the prompt at the top of page 87 on the application page to just be really convicting. God intends to make a kingdom out of people from every nation. And this prompt challenged me to remember my role in sharing the good news of Jesus with everyone that I meet who doesn't know Him. And so it, yeah, it actually made me think of Matthew 28:19, where Jesus commands His followers to go and make disciples of all nations. It just was convicting to me to remember that, like, my role doesn't stop in being a part of the nations that are brought into God's kingdom, but I am now working alongside Christ to share the Gospel and reach the rest of the nations that still need to know about Jesus. Did you, Alexa, have any points of application that you're going to take away?
C
Yeah, honestly, that same prompt on the top of page 87 was what stood out to me the most. I shy away from sharing the gospel so many times, so anytime I'm reminded of my role in making disciples, I also feel very challenged and convicted. And I think this prompt specifically challenged me to pray for opportunities to share the gospel. I do pray for people in my life who don't know Jesus to be saved, but I don't often pray for opportunities to share the gospel with those people or others. And maybe that's because I'm afraid for those opportunities to really come about. But when I think about how God uses me and works through me to bring people into his family, that's a motivator to share with others. And so I feel really challenged to pray more about opportunities to share the Gospel. Okay, so we're going to transition into a time of prayer now. So Beth is going to read several prayer prompts for us, and we're going to spend some time responding to these prompts. So go ahead and take a moment after each one to pray to the Lord.
A
All right, pray with me. So first, thank God that He sent Jesus to be a blessing to you and to all of the nations. Pray that God would remind you of his secure promises and his secure blessings. Ask God to show you where you can partner with him in making disciples of all nations.

Connecting the Scriptures
