Host 1
Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
Danny
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the.
Alexa
Entire Biblical story, but the center of it. Hey, everyone. Welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm joined with my co host, Beth.
Beth
Hi everyone.
Alexa
We are excited to share some applications from this week with you. So, Beth, what are you going to take away from this week's passages?
Beth
So I loved what the study said on page 1 14. It says this week's passage reminds us that it is okay to not be in control. And I think that that is the main takeaway that I have because I really like to be in control and I have a hard time when I'm not in control. And so just the reminder that I don't have to be in control because Jesus is. It's just something that I really need every single day. And so, yeah, it reminds me that Jesus is not surprised by the things that happen in the world. He's not surprised by injustice, he's not surprised by evil, and he's not surprised by my sin. He has always been in control. And one day he's going to return and set all things right and enact his perfect justice and reign. So as I endure all that life throws at me and I struggle with control and wanting to be in control and not being in control, I can do this knowing that the lion of Judah is the one who actually is in control. And I can look to him as the slain lamb who demonstrated his great compassion through dying on my behalf.
Alexa
Yeah, I love that so much of my overwhelm and anxiety comes from a lack of control. But how comforting is it to know that Jesus always remains in control?
Beth
Yeah, for sure. So what about you? Is there anything else that you plan to take away from this week's study? Alexa?
Alexa
Yeah, honestly, that surrendering of control was what stuck out to me the most. And I love the reminder that Jesus is going to return one day to bring about judgment on this world, which is hard to read because of all the people that don't know Jesus. But I find it really comforting that this broken world isn't all that we'll ever know. I don't know about you, Beth, but I feel like with every year that passes, the world just feels more and more broken. And it's really easy to get down sometimes and think like, man, is it ever going to get better? And the answer to that is both no and yes. You know, it's not going to get better on this side of eternity. But Jesus will come back to fully establish God's kingdom and and he's going to restore the brokenness of this world. So when I survey the brokenness of this world, I can mourn the brokenness, but mourn with hope, knowing that this isn't the end. So we're going to transition into a time of prayer right now. Beth is going to read some prayer prompts for us and after she reads each one, just take a moment to respond to that prompt in prayer to the Lord.
Beth
Praise God for having a plan to redeem, care for, and rule his people from the beginning of time. Ask God to help you relinquish your desires for control and to help you trust him as you endure the unknowns of life. Thank Jesus for dying on your behalf and revealing Himself as the slain Lamb.
