Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
B
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire Biblical story, but with the center of it.
A
Hi friends. Welcome back to A Year in the Bible. I am Beth and I am joined again by my co host, Alexa.
B
Hey everyone.
A
Today we are going to be making the Christ connection between Genesis 50:20 and Acts 2:22 24, the passages that we've been studying through this week. So Alexa, why don't you unpack this connection for us today?
B
Yeah. Yesterday we talked about how it was God's plan to deliver up Jesus for our salvation. And that connects to what we saw God do through Joseph. Just as God worked through Joseph's hard circumstances to bring salvation for Joseph's family as well as many others, so did God work through Jesus's death and resurrection to bring about salvation for the lives of all who trust and believe in him. So in both instances we see God taking what is bad and bringing something good from it.
A
Yeah, for sure. And you know, this seems to be God's MO Even at the very beginning of Scripture, we see that God is always taking bad situations and bringing about good through them. We saw this in Genesis 3:15, which we studied earlier this year, that the serpent would strike the Messiah's heel, which is a bad thing. But then that through that process, the Messiah would then crush the serpent's head, defeating evil once and for all, which is a very, very good thing. And so yeah, it's just really cool to see God work the same way from the beginning of scripture all the way through until the New Testament as well.
B
Yeah, I love how Acts 2:22 24 is essentially the result of what God promised in Genesis 3:15. It was enemies plan to defeat Jesus. And even though Jesus did die on the cross, he rose from the grave, therefore defeating the enemy's plan. And now because of Jesus's death and resurrection, sin and death don't have a hold on us. If we are followers of Christ, we. We live victorious because of Christ's victory, knowing that sin and death have been defeated.
A
Absolutely. What an amazing God we have who is always just bringing about good for his people. Yeah.
B
And thinking of Genesis 50:20 and Acts 2:22 24, it really shows us how nothing can stand in the way of God's plans and purposes. So let's go back to Joseph's story for a minute. Here is all that Joseph encountered. His brothers sold him into slavery. Then, when Joseph is a faithful servant in Potiphar's house, Potiphar's wife accuses Joseph of assault and Joseph is thrown into prison. And Joseph is there for a long time. It isn't until two years later that Joseph finds favor with the Pharaoh and is given an exalted position. So even through all of those trials, God was still working. And then let's think about Jesus. Jesus had the religious rulers as well as many other Jews against him. They arrest him and sentence him to death even though he was innocent. They beat him and then nail him to the cross. But even through all of that, God was still working just as he was for Joseph. He was working through all the evil that people were doing to accomplish his plans. So what an amazing reminder that there is nothing people or the enemy can do to keep God's plans from succeeding.
A
Yeah, that's. That is just so good. And it's taking everything in me right now not to immediately start talking about application, but that's what we're gonna talk about tomorrow. So be sure to join us tomorrow where we're gonna unpack what this means for our lives and how we can apply it. And so we will see you then.

Episode: Season 4, Week 8, Day 4: Connecting Genesis 50:20 & Acts 2:22–24 to Christ
Release Date: February 20, 2025
Host/Author: The Daily Grace Co.
In this episode of A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace, hosts Beth and Alexa delve into the profound connections between the Old Testament and the New Testament, specifically focusing on how the entirety of Scripture points to Jesus Christ. This episode explores the interplay between Genesis 50:20 and Acts 2:22–24, illustrating God's consistent pattern of turning adverse circumstances into instruments of salvation.
Beth opens the discussion by highlighting the episode's focus on connecting Genesis 50:20 with Acts 2:22–24. She introduces the core idea of the study: demonstrating Jesus's presence throughout the Bible.
Beth [00:40]: "Today we are going to be making the Christ connection between Genesis 50:20 and Acts 2:22 24, the passages that we've been studying through this week."
Alexa builds on this by explaining how both Joseph's story and Jesus's crucifixion and resurrection serve as pivotal moments in God's plan for salvation.
Alexa [00:54]: "Just as God worked through Joseph's hard circumstances to bring salvation for Joseph's family as well as many others, so did God work through Jesus's death and resurrection to bring about salvation for the lives of all who trust and believe in him."
The hosts emphasize God's recurring theme of transforming negative situations into positive outcomes. Beth reminisces about Genesis 3:15, drawing parallels to how God's plans remain steadfast from the beginning to the end of Scripture.
Beth [01:32]: "We saw this in Genesis 3:15, which we studied earlier this year, that the serpent would strike the Messiah's heel... but then that through that process, the Messiah would then crush the serpent's head, defeating evil once and for all."
Alexa further connects this to Acts 2:22–24, underscoring how Jesus's resurrection fulfills God’s promise of overcoming evil.
Alexa [01:57]: "Acts 2:22 24 is essentially the result of what God promised in Genesis 3:15. It was enemies plan to defeat Jesus... but he rose from the grave, therefore defeating the enemy's plan."
A significant portion of the discussion contrasts Joseph's tribulations with those of Jesus, highlighting God's unwavering commitment to His redemptive plans despite human opposition.
Alexa [02:31]: "God was still working just as he was for Joseph... God was still working through all the evil that people were doing to accomplish his plans."
Beth echoes this sentiment, marveling at God's ability to vindicate His purposes through both Joseph and Jesus.
Beth [02:25]: "What an amazing God we have who is always just bringing about good for his people."
The narrative reinforces the idea that nothing can derail God's divine plans. Both Joseph's elevation from slavery to prominence and Jesus's resurrection serve as testaments to God's ultimate sovereignty and the victory over sin and death.
Alexa [02:31]: "Nothing can stand in the way of God's plans and purposes."
As the episode draws to a close, Beth hints at the forthcoming discussion on practical applications of these biblical truths, inviting listeners to continue their journey of understanding and embracing God's word.
Beth [03:37]: "That's. That is just so good... we're gonna talk about tomorrow... So be sure to join us tomorrow where we're gonna unpack what this means for our lives and how we can apply it."
Alexa wraps up by directing listeners to additional resources and encouraging ongoing engagement with the podcast and Daily Grace Co. platforms.
Alexa [03:53]: "Be sure to check out our show notes for some helpful links and resources related to today's episode... We're looking forward to studying God's Word with you again tomorrow."
