Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
Host 2
Whether you are doing the study yourself.

We are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire Biblical story, but the center of it. Hi friends.
Alexa
Hey friends. Welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm here with my co host, Beth.
Beth
Hi everyone. Today we're going to be talking about how we plan to apply these passages that we've been covering this week to our own lives. So, Alexa, what are your takeaways?
Alexa
As I was thinking about this week and this day in the study in particular, I found myself thinking about the times in life when nothing seems good. We read Romans 3:28, today's study day, which says, we know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. And you know, that's an encouraging verse. It, it, it does help us see that God truly does work everything for good in our lives. But I don't know about you, Beth. I feel like this verse is often used as an encouragement during hard times. And again, it, it is encouraging, but it could also be hard to believe the words of that verse when life is just super hard. Have you felt that way?
Beth
Yeah, absolutely. It's like whenever somebody tells you that it's going to be okay after something really bad happens, it's like almost always impossible to believe them at that moment.
Alexa
Yeah, right. So in, in thinking about this application day, I wanted to respond with trust in the Lord in hard times, resting in the truth that he is going to bring something good from what I'm going through, even if I don't know how just yet. Because the truth that God does work everything together for our good does help to bring hope in hard circumstances. It does help us to look to God, trust in him, and to look forward to what he's going to do. That truth also helps us to look at our circumstances through an eternal perspective because we know that what we are going through is temporary and one day God is going to make all things new. But I also want to respond with lament and hard times because the truth that God works everything together for our good doesn't mean that our circumstances are good. Joseph had to go through some really tough stuff. Jesus had to suffer and die on the cross. So while it's good for us to rejoice over how God works through our circumstances for good, like he did for Joseph and through Christ, it's also okay to recognize and be real about the hard things that we go through. I think it's good for us to say yes, I know and trust that God is going to bring something good from this, while also saying, but this thing that I'm going through is really hard and I'm going to be honest with God about how hard this is and ask him to give me help and peace.
Beth
Yeah, I think that is such a good perspective and probably really helpful for our listeners and our friends who might be going through really difficult things to know that it's okay to call hard things hard. So I really appreciate that. I also find that rehearsing and knowing this truth beforehand. So like, while things are going good, if we continuously remind ourselves that God is good and that he's working good out for us, I think that that usually helps us process our grief better on the other side of hard things happening. Yeah. So when this truth is ingrained in us, it's much harder to believe the lies that tell us that God does not care for us or that our lives are without hope. And so yeah, it's good to just remember this in the good times so that it can encourage us in the hard times even when things are really, really hard. Yeah. So with that, let's move on to our prayer time for this week. As always, Alexa is going to guide you through a few prayer prompts and so let's just take some time to bring all that we have learned this week to God in this moment.
Alexa
Thank God that He takes what is evil and turns it for good. Ask God to give you hope during hard times, knowing that he is working through your circumstances for good. Share with God any ways you are currently struggling and ask him to bring you peace right now.
