We're in Proverbs chapters 13:15 is what we're covering today. CJ, what should we take away from these chapters? What did you notice in them?
CJ
So today I noticed Proverbs 13:20, and it reads as, the one who walks with the wise will become wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm. And this struck me as just incredibly practical. I think we have these sayings in our culture where poor company corrupts good character. Or I've heard this before. You're the average of the five people you hang out with the most. Like, which means I'm the average of like a five year old, a three year old, and a one year old. So I don't know what that's. I don't know what that says about me. Uh, but I think. I think our culture actually recognizes the truth in this proverb, or somehow the truth of this proverb has infiltrated our culture and we sort of understand that this is the way things truly are. Uh, and I think this just says a lot about the Christian life. It reminds us how important good company is. So it means finding quality friends. I can think of three to four friends I could call up right now whose opinion I trust, who are godly men, who I can rely on when I need help or when I need guidance or when I need counsel. I think this also speaks to the importance of finding quality mentors, being under the tutelage and the discipleship, in a discipleship relationship with people you trust who are godly, people who can lead you on the path of righteousness. I also think of the importance of a quality church community who can help you pursue godliness. When you're in a good environment like that, it's easy to want to pursue the wise path and to pursue Christ. So I guess this is really an encouraging proverb. I'd encourage us all to consider the people we hang out with, even the things we consume, which is. Which is important. And just think about the company you keep and how those things really affect your sort of path towards wisdom and your path to pursuing Christ. And I think this proverb, even though it's tiny, kind of packs a big punch. And I think ultimately it reminds us that the wise person we should be spending the most time with is Christ and all of those other relationships that I've mentioned. So far should sort of act as a funnel that leads us towards the Lord, who is our ultimate wise companion and who gives us ultimate wise counsel.

Yeah, that is such good wisdom. That's great advice. And I think my takeaway from these chapters is somewhat similar. Proverbs 15:12 said, A mocker will not consult the wise. And something that stuck out to me about that is I think that we often fear the vulnerability of asking for wisdom from other people when we need it. We want to appear as if we actually don't need the wisdom of others. And maybe that even seeps its way into our relationship with Christ. Where you want to show him? No, I've got it. Like, I've got it. And so what I was encouraged with today was humility and teachability and vulnerability, which plays really well into kind of your synopsis of what you took away from these chapters as well. So. Okay, great. I feel encouraged and challenged as usual in these Proverbs episodes. We're about halfway through the Book of Proverbs, and so we're gonna keep going. We'll pick it back up tomorrow.
