What's up, everybody? And welcome back to another episode of the Action Academy podcast, Corporate America's least favorite podcast. Guys, this may be my favorite episode that we have ever done on the show. We've had billionaires on the show, we've had multimillionaires on the show, and we've had a heck of a lot of Action Academy members on this show, which is our back end community and mastermind of the Action Academy podcast. And in the Dominican Republic, at our last event with over 100 members in attendance, I invited one of them to get up and give a keynote presentation. With only a couple days heads up notice. And that, my friends, is Zach Metcalf, who is on the podcast today. Zach's story is insanely relatable for most of you guys listening. Corporate guy, over 10 years making great money, $400,000 a year, wife and a young kid. He had everything that he ever wanted until he got an email that his position had been terminated. How many of us can relate to this right now? But instead of going back to get another job, he's been in Action Academy. He is building a hospitality empire and he went and bought a 240 acre micro resort. So guys, 10, today's episode is not just about hospitality investing. It's not just about business buying. This keynote is the most emotional, vulnerable, wonderful representation of who we are as a community and who we speak to on this podcast. Every single person should listen to this episode multiple times. And please, please help me in sharing this with other people that might need this as well. And lastly, if you've been nervous about even speaking to our team about Action Academy membership, today's episode is the best example of who is in our room. There's nobody that embodies our community better than this episode in this individual, Zach Metcalf. So guys, hope you enjoy. And if you want to check out more about what we do, actionacademy.com or the link in the description, let's get to it.

Before I want to start, Brian, come over here. I want you to take a second. Yep. And look around at all these faces. You created this room. Yeah. You changed my life. You changed so many other lives and you created this room for people to make an impact, to focus on themselves, to grow and to live the life that they deserve. So I just want to say thank you. You created this.
C
Thanks, man.

So I want to make a statement today and say I absolutely deserve be up on this stage. I deserve to be up on this stage. And the question I have for you guys you think you belong on this stage? Yeah. You do. What about you, Daniel? Yeah. Who was here in the Cancun event? This is the exact photo. That's me. That's Nathan Cyr. He stood up here and he said, I deserve to be up on this stage. And out of Every. All the 120 people, he looks at me, and I was sitting in this seat, he says, do you? And I go, nope. And people thought it was satire. People thought it was a joke. But I did not believe that I deserved to be up on that stage. I didn't responded with my heart, right? And the crazy part about this is that seven months later, who's up on the stage? Me. Holy shit, guys. It's crazy when you have a certain lens on, put you a pair of glasses on, and then you take them off and you're like, oh, my gosh, I'm incredibly powerful. And all of you guys are so powerful. And a lot of you guys don't even know how powerful you can be. I didn't. 14 months ago, Funny story. You guys know about the Joshua Tree project? We're diving into that today. But I was finally with my wife and my kid on Saturday, enjoying the fruits of our labor. I was like, we're going to be out here, hang out, watching the sunset, watching the UFC fight, doors are open, vibing, right? Brian calls me on Saturday afternoon and says, hey, what's going on? Stoked to see in the doctor. We're catching up. Surface level. And then he goes, hey, so, Kyle, Bill, do you want to do a keynote? I'm like, I'm sorry, What? We got five days. I'm leaving Miami Wednesday, so I got about 48 hours to prep. So those intrusive thoughts came in. The saboteurs, wherever Chris is at, the saboteurs came in, right? Do I belong on this stage? What value can I bring to these absolute rock stars? And what if I fail and fall right on my face? And this is where this community is so powerful, right? Because I called Ian Joseph, you know him, called Jonas Harper. We're going back and forth. They're like, you only got a few days. Should you do it? Then it evolved into absolute fucking lutely, you should do it. And then I talked to my wife, who I hope you guys meet one day. She's an absolute savage. She goes, oh, you're doing it. The only reason why you wouldn't do it is because of fear. At that point, I texted you and Nat back, and I said, let's freaking go, guys, because here were the answers that popped into my head. Do you belong on the stage? Absolutely. What value can you bring to the group of a players? My authentic, my authenticity and my what and my why, which we're going to dive into today. And then what if I fail? What if I fall on my face? I'm going to learn. I'm probably going to get back up. So what's the worst that can happen? Bring you guys some fire today and hopefully it changes some hearts. Let's do it. So who is Zach Metcalf? Who am I? Give you a little bit of background on and take a step back. So this right here is my why. It's my beautiful wife Bex, my son Dax, our pup. First and foremost, I'm a husband and a father. That's a non negotiable 24 years old. Biologically, chronologically, I just turned 36. We built a real estate portfolio in the last eight years and Brian blew the news. But I had a 10 year career in the pharmaceutical industry and got fired. So we'll get into that today as well. But I built a career up to about 400 grand a year. And so these key details are important as we kind of go through this discussion, but this is exactly my why I do everything for this. Okay, Chris, I loved how you started yesterday with your two kiddos. It's exactly why we need to show up right in this life. So let's take a little bit of a journey back because this is where the alignment started to be a bit flawed and created some clarity around what I was actually supposed to do. So I went to school at UCSB back in 2008. I was at beach school. Super rad. We partied way too often and I studied business, economics and accounting. Who here raise your hands thinks that I should have been an accountant? I know, I wish someone would have told me that as well. It's so frustrating. But I had interviews in the big four. Accounting firms didn't get it and I ended up moving abroad. I got to get the heck out of this place. Like a bubble. And so I moved to. I, I ended up having a four year stint, moved to Australia, Guam, Barcelona and also Berlin. And it changed my lens. But what I realized now is that it wasn't aligned for me to be an accountant. I wasn't supposed to be that I'm not an Excel. I didn't barely know how to use Excel except for some underwriting. And then I came back 2015 and I joined the pharmaceutical industry as a sales guy. I realized I've Been peer pressuring my friends my entire life. Might as well go sell some stuff. And it's very successful. But in November 2024, I was like, something is a little bit off, right? I feel like majority of people I'm talking to buying these rentals, but I can't relate to a lot of my network. They're great people, but I couldn't necessarily relate to them from a growth perspective, right? So I started interviewing different masterminds and do I want to do hotels? Do I want to do sba? But I didn't want to be pigeonholed. So actually, one of my buddies recommended, actually Academy podcast. He didn't join. I ended up joining because it was aligned. Everything looked great, but something felt off. Who's felt that before? Probably every single person in here. Which is why you're in the room, right? Because I was the big fish in my pond. But I wanted to be the little bit the little minnow. And I'll never forget it. The first Action Academy call, Brian was leading it. There was about 45, maybe 50 of us. It was the Black Friday deal. And I remember talking to Ian Joseph, who's building a $6 million micro resort. Jonas Harper, doing multiple ones. Burton owned, like, the entire South. So I got, like, $47,000 in a debt fund. I'm like, that's. I don't even know what that is. Love you, Burton. But I realized that the lens of these people were very different from mine. And what I didn't know is how powerful I was. What's a micro resort? What am I doing now? Micro resorts, right? You have to change your lens. So I wasn't playing small. I was just playing in a small room. I was still pushing it, but now being around UA players, it's, damn, we're doing some amazing things. So kudos to all you guys for pushing me to be better. Who's drinking some of Brian's Kool Aid about quitting your job? I was drinking that Kool Aid so hard. And it wasn't until the breakout session in Cancun. Josh Greenberg was in it. A few others where I was like, guys, I just hate my job. Like, I just. I don't align with pharma. I'm such, like, a health nut. And I don't get vaccinated. I don't take pharmaceutical drugs. Like, I'm selling this dream that I don't actually believe in. It didn't align right. And I had everyone in the group be like, I'm like, I'm gonna quit. They're like don't quit making 400 GS a year and you're working part time. I'm like, oh, maybe that's, maybe they're on to something. Because here was my reality, right? I had a wife with a one year old Daxton. We had 10 to $12,000 a month in expenses. I was walking away from a huge career salary and we were one one income household. My wife has been an artist for the last three years. So that clarity was huge. And literally within eight months, which we'll get to in a second, like my life completely changed and it was more aligned. Right. So for all you, I love what Brian preaches about no W2. Right. But I think it has to make sense. I think it has to be aligned with your life. Because if I were to quit leaving 400k on the table, that would have stressed me out. It would have been an ego boost of I finally quit my job. The, the Facebook post and then what? Then it sits in, oh, what am I going to do? How am I going to replace that? Alignment over urgency is key. If I would have quit during the Cancun trip, I would have left about a quarter million dollars on the line and I would have been stressed out trying to replace that income and probably use that against my family. Had some sort of resentment, right? Maybe even this group, who knows? Right. But I was focused on building my vivid vision. I was positioning myself. But I didn't realize that this was all part of the plan. Okay, this is alignment taking place. This isn't news because Brian said it 75 times this weekend. But on February 12th at 9:15 in the morning, my boss puts this random call on my calendar. I'm like, there's two things that are going to happen here. And I was laughing about this before. I'm like, we're going to say yes to an initiative I'm working on or this is my last day. The second she got on, and she's actually a cool chick. Second she got on, I was like, this is the day. This is the day. I was ready for it. And it was probably the easiest let go that she's ever done because I was fired up. I was trying to hold back my excitement, my smiles, my wait. Really? Someone say it's different. But here's the thing, guys. I was employee number 11. We were bought out by a larger corporation. A $5 billion, they call them a CRO. And I had 20 minutes. All my stuff got shut down. Couldn't say goodbye to my clients. Couldn't say goodbye to my team, I was like a fart in the wind, gone forever, right? And so I had made that company over $120 million in my 10 years there. I'm gone. But here's the thing. And this even happened last night from a client of mine. The second I told a lot of people in my life, they're like, oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry this happened to you. And I was like, actually, I decided to believe something different. Say, congratulations that this happened for you. Literally had a client last night that said, hey, I need some help. Your colleague Justin's out. Are you still there? I'm like, oh, we're actually all gone. I'm so sorry. I'm like, no, you can say congrats. And she says, lol. Everyone in this room had said congrats. So it's a mindset shift. It's a lens, right? Because here's the thing. I've been building for eight years. My real estate was fine. Was was generating our 10 to $12,000 a month of expenses actually is offset because we have that much cash flow going in, right? I was positioned and I was freaking ready. And you guys are might not be able to see this because my writing is so horrible, but this was my vision in 2025. Quit my job at Study Kick and be a dad, an entrepreneur. I wrote this. This was the vision, this was the plan. This was the alignment taking place right in front of my eyes. Because here's the other thing. My colleague John, good buddy of mine, that weekend after he got let go, he applied. He told me, text me, said I applied for over a hundred jobs this weekend. He has a family of five. Panicked I would as well. He hasn't been building, has been wanting to set up a call for me for three years about what I'm doing in real estate. And I feel bad for him, right? Because I would be gutted if that happened to me. But I was different because I had been building. I envisioned this. I wanted this to happen. This is where it gets really fun. So February 12, 9, 15 in the morning, my position gets eliminated after 10 years and 3 months. This is when the alignment is wild, guys. This is crazy. So my wife left her job three years ago, became an amazing mother, was an artist with music and acting. It's on Rebecs, on Spotify if you want to listen to some bangers. But she felt called to go back to work. She's. I love being a mother. I love being an amazing wife. But I have this like calling to still make an impact. And I love that about her. So I'm like, go freaking get it. So she was interviewing with this company called Rula Health. And what they do is they support people to find mental health services, people that are going through diagnoses or just challenges in their marriage, which is something which has been like our foundation of our marriage to. To help us get through some of the challenging times we've had. Guys, within 31 hours, I get let go on a Thursday. On Friday, she has her final round interview. She gets the job that night. I have chills saying that out loud. So it just so happens that what I wanted actually took place what she wanted took place. And it's all within 31 hours. So we don't have to worry about insurance. We still have income coming in on that end, and we're both fired up. And then I get the news about the $61,000 severance that I'm getting to leave my job. You're going to pay me to go build what I've been building down. And the funny part about this is that. So this is a photo of me at dinner that night. You can see I'm really sad about this news. This is my wife as well. She was like, she was crying throughout the day because she was so elated on this news. She has to flock her wings and we both get to live our dreams. And this was the next year we found out the news about the severance. Me, Dax and Becks. This was like a God wink. I got you guys. Don't worry. Take care of you. And it was so funny that night because we met some random people at dinner and they're like, so are you guys celebrating anything like that? What? Outside of Valentine's Day? I'm like, listen, she just got a job of dreams. And I got let go. And they're like, what? I'm like, no, I got a severance. It's pretty fired up, guys. This was not luck. This was alignment. This was my vivid vision becoming a reality right in front of my face. It was time to focus and go all in. No strings attached. Flock my wings. Let's freaking go. So that was the journey about where I'm at now. But this also happened with Deal acquisition. And I want you guys to be challenged on what you're actually tackling. The vision that you're creating. Me, Sarana does such a great job at saying, is it aligned with your vision? It's easy to say yes or no to your vision if it's not. Sorry, yes or no? To a deal if it's not within your vision. Okay. This was the first one that we started. We tried to tackle. It's called Vista Manor. It was a wedding venue in the Catskills, a place called Roxbury. Remember that fact? It was on the market for 1.1.2. We offered 200 grand over asking because it was such a good deal. It was. It was turnkey, right? Making about 25 grand a weekend on weddings. We're like, okay, let's do that. Called every lender under the sun. We offered no contingency. We were going hard on this deal. And then what happens is seller used our offer after verbally accepting it and giving it to somebody else for cash for a bit more. We were gutted. We were like, oh, my gosh, this was part of the vision. What the heck happened? Does a handshake not mean anything anymore? Does someone's word not mean anything? We're bummed, right? What we didn't know is that wasn't aligned. The second one, Surf City Beach Club in North Carolina. This is where two of my partners had lived. Josh Greenberg lost a lot of sleep on this one, just like I did. This is a very complex deal. There was hoas, There was weird bridge debt. There was all these crazy thing nuances, and we were trying to push it so hard and had that piece of the pie that was available, this 30% discount because the moat around this one to get into the deal was so hard. What we didn't realize is that it was a big no. So it's a $7 million deal. We lost 25 GS on it. But what we did is I would pay that five to six grand that I lost over and over for that experience to actually tackle a deal like this because this wasn't aligned. But the next projects were. Who's felt like that before? Where you're, like, so gutted, but then you finally realize it wasn't aligned? You got to listen to your Viv vision. You got to listen to your heart. You got to listen to your gut. Yeah. This next one, just me and my wife. Cool story. My wife is from Joshua Tree. Anyone ever been to Joshua Tree before? Yeah. She has said this joke probably 400 times. She's, I'm from Joshua Tree, and I have all my teeth. And I'm like, there's 401. Because in Joshua Tree, when she was growing up, there's about 5,000 people there, and you either got pregnant or did meth. So. So she's. I got to get out of Here. But Joshua Tree was one of the. One of the hot places for Airbnb back in 2020. With the rise of Airbnb, we got in right at the beginning. And our house is this one right here. It's two and a half acres, sleeps 12, does really well. We actually had a 200 person wedding for our wedding there. And we've created lasting memories, wellness retreats, other weddings. It's been an amazing project. And we have one neighbor in this entire area. This is the national park. We have an incredible view. And we were out there about six months ago, and we look over and the house is vacant. So I'm like, what the heck? So I hit up the old owner test. I'm like, hey, Tess, what's going on? I don't see you guys there. She's. Oh, my. My ex kicked this out. It's been on the market. It's been the market for about six months. They're offering $700,000 and they had six price cuts. What's it at now? $444,000. I'm like, I'm sorry, what? We have one neighbor. We have. We end up getting that property for $389,000 with a 30% seller note at 4 1/2%. I went directly to seller. I made a great relationship with her ex, who was actually a really cool guy. And the. I say that because when I was talking to her, she's like, he's such an asshole. And I'm like, she's not from the south, by the way. And what she didn't disclose is she racked up a $14,000 electric bill that was unpaid, didn't pay rent for three years, and then had a $1,200 water bill. I'm like, he's an asshole. So anyways, we have a great relationship. The cool part about this is that I would not have looked at this deal or been open to this deal unless I was part of you guys part of this group. I wouldn't have known to build this. I wasn't looking for another Airbnb, but it's because I had a different lens on, right? Because here's the thing, we have one house, two house, three house. I can build two more houses here to have a total of five. We can do a bath house. We can do whatever we want, right? And in Joshua Tree, when we started, we could sleep 12. There was 45 properties. Now there's over 250. How do we separate ourselves? More occupancy. Okay, so now this vision is becoming A reality where the first phase is we're going to be adding the third home to sleep 20 and then eventually 35 to 45 people will be able to sleep there. Right. We're creating a whole different product in the world in the area. And then goes into this one, Stone Tavern. I've been talking about this all weekend. I'm super fired up about this project. Just Jonas Harper is one of my partners. And what's so wild about this is I told you Vista Manor didn't work because it wasn't aligned. We were gutted. We were bummed. What we needed to understand is that Stone Tavern Farm, also in the same area of Roxbury where Jonas has a property. There's only two wedding venues in this area. This property came on the market. They sold in seven years ago for 2.2. We were getting it for 1 5, 240 acres. 10,000 square foot wedding barn, 100 acres developable. We should probably look into this, right? This has been part of the vision and we're fully deep in it. We're. It's a five and a half million dollar project. A barn from 1803. We're doing a capital raise next week. If you're interested, hit me up and. But this is part of the vision. The other reason that one didn't happen is because this was the right one. And the crazy part about this is that this manor, which we didn't get, there was three partners on it, an investor, and then two operators that were design and build plus the wedding venue side. They were bummed that they sold that one because it was their blood, sweat and tears. They are now the contractors on Stone Tavern Farm. Talk about alignment, right? I've chilled saying that out loud. They gave us their entire wedding business plan, their vendors, like it's a partnership now. That wasn't right for us. So this one was. Guys, 16 months ago, none of this even existed. None of it existed. It's crazy what will happen by chipping away at 3, 6, 3 months. 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 16 months. And on a day to day you're like, I don't know if I'm making a lot of progress, but when you look back and you actually live in the gain rather than the gap, which is the ideology of where you think you should be, you actually realize that you're growing a ton, which I know every single one of you are. You literally paid to be here. So focus on the gain rather than the gap. Because reality, guys, this is not easy stuff. It's not easy to buy a business, it's not easy to buy a hotel, it's not easy to build a brand, it's not easy to build a micro resort. None of this stuff is easy. It takes grit, takes determination, takes a lot of time. But the question we have to ask ourselves is, are we sprinting or are we reflecting that this is actually a marathon? We're going. But the question I want you guys to ask yourself is, are you building a home that your family actually wants to live in? Are you building a home that you want to live in? Because if not, then what's the point? Those of you that were at the Dr. Brandon Turner was there. He's way taller and a way better beard than I do. But he presents himself as he's done over a billion dollars in acquisition, he's raised over half a billion dollars. Author, bigger pockets face. Dude's a savage. I think he's 40, 41, 42. Like he's a young guy and he stood up there and talking about all of his accolades, but then he mentioned he had a 10 month old and some kids. And at that time I had a 10 month old as well. And I raised my hand, I go, Brandon, you're an incredible entrepreneur, but how do you. But you also mentioned that you have a ten month at home. At home. How do you balance entrepreneurship with being a family man, a father, a husband? Anyone remember what he said, how he responded? Anyone just remember that or no? No, I did. I definitely did because this was the lens that completely changed my perspective on what I was doing. He said, Zach, 98% of the people that I know at this level are on their third or fourth marriage, have little or no relationship to their children, don't have real balance. How's that land? Not good, right? They built a house that nobody wants to live in. The second lunch shift for me, my good friend Joe Moffett, who have gotten to know really well. Draction Academy, amazing human is. I got into some pretty big rooms, got some good dinners and I'm like, did they message the right Zach? Looking around and I was telling Joe, I'm like, dude, I don't, I'm not sure if I belong in the same room. Like these people are so much more successful than me. His response is, I will never ever forget this. He says, zach, you're comparing yourself to the wrong stat. You're crushing your self growth, you're crushing your health, you're crushing being a husband and you are absolutely crushing it being a father. You're crushing these people in so many other stats, but what you're focusing on is the wealth. How's that one? Sit. We compare ourselves to this thing called the what, which is how many doors do you have? How much money do you have? How much income, how much cash flow? What about the other stuff that's important, the reason why you're doing all that? A lot of people can clearly explain their what, but not enough people can clearly explain their why. So we're going to do a little bit of exercise. Raise your hand if you want to do burpees or air squats. No, I'm joking. We're not going to do that. I'd be down, though, so if you guys don't mind, take your notebooks out or take your phones out. Okay, I want us to do to take about a minute, and we're going to start with your what. This is going to be the easiest exercise of the weekend because we've been talking about this whole time, right? What are you doing right now? Your job, your business, your deals, your vision. What are you doing right now? Your what? All right, thank you for doing that. I'll get back to that in a second. Now, I want you to take two minutes on this one. Take a little longer. I want you to write out. Write your why. Why are you doing this? Not some BS response, not the polished one. The real reason. Why are you really doing this? Why are you buying the doors? Why are you crushing the deals? Why are you buying the multiple businesses? Why are you building the micro resort? Why are you doing it? Think about your upbringing. Think about your family, think about your kids. Why are you really doing this? Why are you spending the time after your W2? Why are you waking up before your W2? Why are you working on something and not spending the time with your wife, your kids, or your husbands? All right, so who wants to share your what and your why?
D
I'm putting every ounce of effort into the Mount Rainier deal because I love it. Love it so much. I'm hitting it hard at the gym. I'm going back to therapy for my mental health. Make sure I'm okay. Am I okay? I'm investing a lot of time with my family and friends, and I'm fine tuning my vision. So those things. Love that why I'm doing this. This is where it gets emotional, I guess. I want to be the girl that never gave up, especially when things have been stacked up against me.
B
Yep.
D
I want my body to be an absolute weapon.
B
Let's go.
D
I'm getting there. I want to regulate my nervous system and trust my decisions.
B
Love that.
D
I want to support my friends and family beyond their comprehension and get them out of survival mode because. And I said this because I fucking deserve it.
B
Let's go. You do.
D
And the last few are, my mom deserves to never worry about money for her health treatments. My mom went through cancer and she's a cancer survivor, so hell yeah.
B
Hell yeah. Let's go round blast to that one.
D
She's actually way tougher than me. Man, that woman has a lot of grit. And I want to completely change the course of my family's lineage. We've all been in survival mode for a long time on both sides for different reasons. And then the last is because I believe that I have the guts and courage to do it. I'm a girl with grit and because I like doing hard things. And in some ways, I'm fearless and delusional.
B
Let's go. Let's go. Thank you for sharing. Well, this one's a chair. That was amazing. Yeah, let's go, B.
C
So I actually want to. I'm not going to sit here and hammer about the importance of vision. We have the literal guy that wrote the book on it coming up here. But I do want to share. I was at dinner and I was talking a little bit about what happens after you are good economically. Because everybody hears.
B
Okay, cool.
C
Like, I've got my wide freaking badass. By the way, another round of applause for Jackie.
B
Yeah.
C
So everybody's. I want my family taken care of. I want my kids taken care of. I want my health taken care of. But then what's after that? And a lot of you guys haven't thought about that because you can get to this level thinking about, like, me, and that's awesome. Like, you want to. But at a certain level, you have to think about, like, we. And like, they, like, how can I help other people? How can I serve other people? How come. How can I make every single dollar serve more people? So, like, for me, if you get to a certain point where you buying another, like, in two years, Zach, like, you'll have all of these resorts and you'll have $10 million plus of equity and hundreds of millions of dollars of assets under management. But then why scale?
B
Yep.
C
Brandon Turner had the same thing. Billion dollars three years I was with him when he wrote the Vision. Like, he had the surf, the surfing, real estate investors that he wrote as a newspaper article and billion dollars assets under management. He goes, why? So just remember as we're doing this, like, you have to evolve your why? Over time. So you have. I call it expanding your circle. So it's like, in the beginning, your circle is your immediate, and then it's your local community, and then it's like the world at large. So again, it's just remember, like, at the end of the day, the goal here is to get rich so that all of you can understand that it's not the answer to happiness. Service is the answer to happiness. So the more that you can serve, the more that you can help other people at scale. And the money is fuel. It's economic fuel that drives that machine. Does that make sense?
B
Yep.
C
Again, like, I'll get off my soapbox here, but there's two different types of
A
people in the world.
C
There's bad people and there's good people. But the bad people are going to do everything that they can to lie, cheat, and steal and claw their way to the top so that they can hoard all the money. They could buy the watches, they could buy the cars, they can buy these giant mansions that they divorce their wives and go get somebody new. And that's. They're going to get the money. It's on us as good people that care about our families, that care about our communities, that care about service to others, to make as much money as humanly possible so that we can counteract that. It's your obligation to be as rich as possible. It's not greed. It's your obligation. Because if you guys have money, how much can you impact your community? If you had $100 million, how much could you impact your church? How much could you impact your people? So. Oh, I'll get off myself.
B
Thank you, Brian. Appreciate it. Double microphone. Let's do two more shares. Who else wants to share? I know it's vulnerable. Guys, let's go. All right. This is going to be hard.
E
I'm going to skip to the why. Many of you know my story. Recently divorcing, right now, actually. Amicable, but still hard. 30 years of marriage, and I've written this why the same way for ages. Financial freedom time freedom, legacy for my kids. And then suddenly I realized, no, that's part of it, but it's. I've left all my friends, too, in the past. They weren't really my people. And so I have no friends. And I realized that this is what I'm here for. Like, you guys are my people. And I'm realizing it, and I'm so fucking blessed to be here. So thank you so much.
B
All right.
F
I think I'm last, right?
G
Okay.
H
My.
F
What Building Everwood Reserve which is a development of a memory care community which will have 64 beds in Tomball, Texas. Also scaling and maturing a mastermind community. I coach on the side. I do mindset coaching and also real estate coaching and also been working on securing long term team members for all these different ventures that hopefully will lock and load and have 10 years of prosperity together.
B
Why?
F
Part of why I joined Action Academy and refactored some of my goals was we realized how quickly our kids are growing up even it's funny my, my daughter asked the other day. She said dad, can I get a phone? She's four years old by the way. She told me about her first boyfriend. She had a first boyfriend. I haven't approved, haven't approved of him yet. But it just they're growing so fast and we recognize that kids really only want to you're the center of their world for about 10 years before they go off and have their friends and their hobbies and their own interests. And even if you have a close relationship with your kids, there's nothing like that first 10 years and she's already 4. Our boys are already 2. So we wanted to accelerate our timeline. That's why we took on such a big project. That's why we've leaned in and worked so hard these past few years despite it being very challenging. And that's why I left my job so that I could focus on not only preparing for the future but being here now more. And I also put life is short. Yep, got to get after it.
B
Love it. Thank you for sharing. Let's do one more. I said one more but I want one more. Let's do one more. Who wants to share? Let's go. Let's go. Josh.
I
What's up everybody? So for those of you who are at Cancun, you're awesome. So happy to see you. For those of you who weren't long story short, my what was initially I joined in July, went on Cancun. This crazy guy right here was like hey, best way is to jump in feet first, right? And I wanted to buy a business. I was already in business for myself owned insurance firm. My lovely wife, bride, best friend is back here. And it was weird. Like we we knew for a long time to Zach's point, wherever he is, there he is. The insurance firm was unlocked in a major way like family health crises like no one else's business making a lot of money but for one so I thought I wanted to own a business and go into it. God, in his time it was like, hey, you're not bankable. So no matter how hard I tried with Alan and others, I just. Doors kept closing. So, okay, let me pivot, become an operator and see if that helps. Guys, I kid you not. That was probably around Halloween. Was like, okay, I'm just going to flip the switch. I'm going to go be an operator. Ashley, she's in my. She was in my pod. She was the. They bought with Kyle Luca Han's Alaska Wildlights.
B
And out of nowhere I got a
I
random dm, said, hey, do you want to be our operator? I was like, you're kidding me. Sorry for the French, but I was like, there's no way you want me to be your guy. Like, yes. Okay. So we crap ton of conversations and longest story short, fast forward to January guy in September. I was like, okay, I need to figure this out. I came in bright eye, bushy tailed. Josh will tell you I was all over the place with no clarity at all. And now I'm here three months in as an operator. So my what is okay, I want to take care of my family at a very real and genuine level. I had to pivot. I can't own a business right now, but I get a free education. I get to bless others. I get to bless my community. Fairbanks is a very small town, so my why and I've told Zach and a few others as well, I feel like a broken record. But phrase a rising tide raises all ships. I want to be the tide. I want whatever we do to impact everybody. And so for me, that is the biggest part of the why. And who knows, maybe I'll buy a business, maybe I'll get into micros. Who knows? But right now that has been the coolest six month turnaround to be going from. Hey, I don't know what I'm doing. I want to buy to. I get to operate and have the blessing to impact others at a very real level, both internally with the town, be a great operator for the state and then also be here for you guys. Brian as well. Y' all are awesome. Appreciate the opportunity and let's all grow together. Let's do this.
B
Thank you for sharing, Josh. I think he shared on the bus. One of the cool things we're talking about alignment is that he used to live in Alaska. So moving to Alaska is like, I'll do it again. He was aware of it. He was used to that, right? So was when I was like, damn, he's going from like Tampa to Alaska. That's a move he's not used to live there. I'm like, oh, that makes sense. That's alignment.
C
Cool.
B
Let's move on. Some of what Brian said. Money is the tool. It lets you live the life that you want. It's not everything. All that money, guys, is going to stay here. You're not bringing it with you. Alignment on your what, your why is the key that keeps everything in order. It's the whole freaking point. Because here's the thing, most people optimize for that one thing, the wealth, right? They're not optimizing with alignment. Do you want to make millions and still be miserable? Do you want to build a huge business and lose your family like a bunch of Bran Turner's homies? Do you want to win financially and you lose your life, AKA your health? You got one body, guys, you don't get an extra. Brian, really appreciate you sharing yesterday. 1600% increase. I think it was cardiovascular disease. Oh, my gosh. The awareness is key. Brian also had his best month at his birthday. His best month ever in Action Academy. Incredible. Why? Sorry, what? The why needed to be aligned, right? And you did that. So well done, brother. So I'm gonna dig a little bit deeper, guys, okay? Get some momentum right now. So in my opinion, there's your what and your why, which are two larger, Two larger pillars, right? But I think the why digs a little bit deeper. The why is yourself, your health, your purpose and your relationships. And I also say relationships, also your faith, okay? And then there's your wealth, and then there's the wealth, which is the why. So when you take out your pen and paper again and let's dive in. So let's look at yourself for a second. I want you to ask these questions. Are you working on yourself? Do you know your blind spots? What needs to change for you to be the best version of yourself? Are these cycles being repeated generation after generation? Is the trauma going to continue? Because here's the thing, guys, our parents are the best job that they possibly could. And so did your grandparents, and so do your great grandparents. But there's these cycles that continue in life. And unless you break the cycle and do the work on yourself, you will continue repeating that cycle. I have parts of my mom and dad that I'm like, damn, where did that come from? Look at my grandparents. I get it. Hundreds of years, thousands of years of generational cycles. Are you working on yourself? So I want you to take, it's called, a minute to write down. Is the work on yourself aligned to live the life that you want to live. So take a minute and write down, are you working on yourself? Does everyone else in your world see something that needs to change in you? But you're only one that doesn't see it? What is that thing? And are you going to change it and break that cycle? Because there's a reason why we are the way that we are. Every single person in here. Are you willing to break it? Are you willing to align? All right, so you can keep writing, but let's move on to the second one, your health. Without your health, guys, you will not have your wealth. I can, I can assure you that. So are you taking care of your body, your nutrition, your vehicle, your fitness? Have you created multiple years, over and over of New Year's resolutions and you stop three weeks in? What needs to change? Are you creating the lifestyle that your kids look up to from a fitness and balance perspective? What needs to change with your health? Are you going to be here until you're 80 years old with your decisions and your lifestyle? These are questions that we need to ask ourselves. Guys, another minute. Dig deep, guys. The awareness is key. So we're not aware. We're just living in the subconscious thinking everything's fine, but this thing is in there to look at and address and change. Another 15 seconds. All right, you can keep writing, but we're going to go into the third pillar of the four, which is your purpose. Why do you wake up every morning and what impact do you want to make in this life? What impact are you not making? What aligns with your purpose? Are we living the life we want to live? Three seconds, ten seconds. All right, feel free to keep writing. The last pillar. Write down relationships, the people you're doing life with and your faith. How is your relationship with your partner, your husband, your wife, your kids, your community? What needs to be more aligned? If you asked your kids this question, what would they respond with? Daddy or mommy? If you asked your partner, your husband or your wife, what would they respond with? On how you need to be more aligned as you show up on a day to day, more aligned with your work, your time, your balance, your alignment, your health, your lifestyle. Tough questions, guys. I realize that this is where the work starts and begins. Give me another minute. Be open, guys. Be honest. These questions will allow you to live the aligned life that you deserve. Not just that you want, but you deserve. It's not about us. It's about the next generations. Your children, your community. For 30 seconds. All right. You know I was gonna ask you to share. You know that, right? Who Wants to share. Check. Who wants to share? Bonnie, You're rock.
D
Thank you.
J
Yesterday, Chris said something about how many hours do you work in your business? And I thought to myself, oh, 30, I'm trying to work less than full time. And then he said, how many hours do you think about your business? And I thought. And I. As I think of my why, I sometimes think of my business as like this train that's just like flying by and I'm just mentally on it and I'm physically present, but I'm not mentally present. And that is true across all of these things. Like, I'm there picking up my kids from school, but I'm getting calls from. From people while I'm in the car or I'm at the soccer practice. But my brain is still on work. And so for me, a lot of the work I need to do on my Y is mental and being both mentally and physically present in all of these lanes.
B
Love it. Thank you for sharing. Appreciate you. Who else? Don't make me call on you. I will. Who wants to go, guys? It's powerful stuff. Talk about the deals we want to talk about. Let's talk about the why.
E
Thank you.
H
Yeah. So a couple things. One, I'm recently engaged, so I think that just shifts your perspective.
B
Thank you. Thank you.
H
Took me six years, but we finally locked her down. So as I just started thinking about the next chapter and getting married and having kids, I think just hearing all of your experiences as well has really impacted me on what I want to do and the life I want to provide. And Aaron, just you saying those first 10 years, it's like if I get started now, can be ready to rock by the time we pop one out. And then not only that too, but I just see in my W2 how truly miserable all these people I work with are. And honestly, it kills me. Like I try to go in and have a positive attitude and. And smile and say hi to everybody. And then people, it just kills me to see, like, how soul sucking they feel like their life is. And I hate hearing that I'm doing well. I've showed up today. It's like I think things that I'm learning here, I could really start impacting others and really helping them realize there's more to life than just showing up to your W2 and dragging yourself out of bed. So I think having the family stuff aligned and having that purpose aligned with helping others just break through what they're experiencing. And those are a couple of my whys, so.
B
Well, I just, I know yeah, no one wants to. Guys, this is vulnerable.
K
I'm already crying. My wife and I, we don't want kids, but we have three nieces that we love. And I see. Holy shit. Sorry.
C
Let's go, baby.
B
Let's go.
K
I see all of the sucks. To say the worst qualities of my parents in my brother. There's a reason I'm in this room, and it's because of him. But there's also a reason he's not in this room. He's fallen into the traps. My wife's brothers have fallen into the traps. And I want to show those three girls this is a reality. Like, doesn't have to be soul sucking. You don't have to make those jokes. I've fallen into that trap walking. Yep. Living the dream. And it blows. And, like, we all know it. And, yeah, that's what I want to do. I want to show that. You made me cry so much. I'm so fucking dehydrated.
B
I don't have anything more to say.
K
Like, that's what it's about. Like, that's why I'm here. And I. But you said, yeah, I don't have any fucking friends. And I say it and my wife won't joke about it. That sucks. That sucks that I don't feel like I'm even as close to you guys as I should be. But I'm not leaning into the community, and that's. That's why I'm here to fucking talk to you.
B
Yeah.
K
I don't know if you guys remember, like, last summer when Nate St. Cyr, like, gave up so much time to like, me with all of us. And he told me that I was the only person who said that I joined for a community. He spent hundreds of hours. And it hit me, and it's like I've fallen back into the traps. If not posting, not thinking that I have value. I said it yesterday and now I'm just rambling. But, yeah, I love you all.
B
Yeah. All right, guys, one more. Let's go on. Let's go, baby. Bring us home, baby. Let's go. Oh, sorry. Who wants to go?
G
So I feel like everyone is being emotional, so I probably should share. Last year, my father passed away. And that was really rough. I learned a lot about him after his passing that I wish that I knew while he was alive. But he kept to himself. And I think learning about the cycles, my family on both sides were very keen to keep secrets. And they did that not to be duplicitous or deceptive. They did that to protect themselves. But there's power in truth and transparency. Oh, I shared that. I know he would be so embarrassed that I'm sharing this, but I find that it's better for me to talk about these things and seek the things and go to the places where people are doing the things that I want to do. I took a chance on Brian, I saw one of your Instagram reels and I was like, I don't know if
C
I should do this, but I'm gonna do it anyway.
G
But I'm glad I did it. I've been in Action Academy for about two years and I haven't closed on a deal. And my wife always tells me every single time, you haven't closed on a deal yet.
B
Let's go.
G
So I just want to say thank you for just constantly rooting for me and just believing in me when I want to give up. But it's been helpful because in the breakout sessions, I found that I was the only one that was had done this before. And I was sharing all of the things that I've learned in the time that I've been in Action Academy. And I do have value and I do make an impact.
B
Yes, you do.
G
And that just drives me forward. And I just want to build a lasting legacy and an impact for my future children because that's something that we're building towards. And I just. Thank you for everything that you share today. It's always inspiring whenever I hear anybody talking. So thank you,
B
Guys. This is why. This is why we talk about this stuff. This is the real. We have grown men crying in this room, right? Because this is what actually matters. Your what is important. But the vehicle is for the why. It's only the vehicle. The why is most important with who wants to live a life so focused on the what that you. You don't even have a why. Nobody. Right? So I want to just briefly show because this, even just this talk made me reflect a lot about what is my what and what is my why. So I'm going to read to you my what is. I build hospitality, experiential hospitality from micro resource to immersive stays, designed to help people disconnect, recharge, and walk away feeling genuinely impacted. I also create intentional community designed to help people live more aligned lives across their health, relationships and purpose. I realized this the last six months. This is my what and my what. This is my purpose. My why is to build a life that I and the people who matter most to me actually want to live in. Where I show up Fully as a father, a husband, and a man for my community. Everything I do is rooted in my alignment across my faith, my health, my relationships, and my purpose so that my success and my what adds to my life rather than takes from it. That's an aligned life because here's my goal. I'm building a home my family actually wants to live in. And here's the thing, guys. I don't think this is that it's not that difficult to make adjustments, right? This is what I realized after leaving my W2, that I'm actually living my perfect life right now. My perfect day. I wake up for an hour and a half. Intentional health and wellness, Zach. Time to get my mind right for the day. I spend about an hour to an hour and a half with my son and my wife. Before the day starts, I have six to eight hours of intentional work. And then the rest of the day by 4pm is family, community, and filling up my cup. The challenge is right, Bonnie, is not to. It's to stop it. Right? So obviously, putting those things in place to try to differentiate the time with the family compared to the time in business, right? Because our brains go crazy as entrepreneurs. This is my last slide, guys. We get one life on this earth, okay? In three generations, none of us will be here. The majority of people will not remember your name. How's that land? So the question we need to ask is, what is stopping you from going all in on this life and aligning your what with your why? Thank you very much. One more. One more thing.
C
Not too shabby.
A
For a couple days, I'm gonna start
C
doing it to all of you.
A
I'm gonna be like, Maddie, go.
B
I put that together in five days, guys. And thank you for listening. Thank you for opening up your hearts. Thank you for doing the growth, because that's what's important. Okay? What I've realized is that I want to help people with your what and your why. Okay? Here's QR code. If you want to connect with me. A lot of you guys didn't share, totally fine. If you want to connect with you just about your why. Want some just support and coaching? I'd love to talk to you guys more about it because this is the passionate work that I believe I was meant to do here. So thank you again, Brian. I appreciate the opportunity.
H
I love you all.

(28:03)

Bonnie:
“I sometimes think of my business as like this train that's just flying by and I'm just mentally on it and I'm physically present, but I'm not mentally present… a lot of the work I need to do on my Y is mental and being both mentally and physically present in all of these lanes.”
(44:38)
Kevin (on generational cycles):
“There's a reason I'm in this room, and it's because of [my brother]. But there's also a reason he's not in this room. He's fallen into the traps...
