Adam Carolla
It's time to get out of your safe space and into the octagon. This is MMA with MM and Ace. Well, it's time to talk mma. And who better than Mayhem Miller.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah, buddy.
Adam Carolla
Man, who's been in that octagon Many times. Many times.
Mayhem Miller
God bless America. There's crazy stuff. What's your policy on the exit row? I know you're a big drink of water, likes to sit in first class, but if you got to sit in the.
Adam Carolla
Oh, that story.
Mayhem Miller
Exit row, what's your take? Are you helping people out of the plane in the case of emergency? Me, personally, I'm dying to do it. I'm ready to take the damn thing off when we're deplaning and just jump down into that raft.
Adam Carolla
Listen, I. Look, look, all we can do is look at past performance, you know? Yeah, and I have thwarted a purse snatcher in the past. I mean, look, you can go. You can go. Well, no one would know how you would react under these situ. Under these circumstances. How would you react? I can tell you. When I was 30. Nah, 28, 29. I was younger. I was in my. Standing on the stoop of my Santa Monica apartment about 8:30 at 9 at night, and I heard a woman screaming for help in the street. And I ran out to the street and she said, somebody got my stuff. And he went that way, and I ran that way and I chased the guy down, and I got up on him, close enough that he threw the stuff that he snatched from the woman down, and I recovered it for her. Now, I didn't know if he had a gun or a knife. I didn't know anything. I ran out.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
So that I came to action. Well, that's how I reacted to her screaming for help. I didn't go in my apartment and lock the door and call 91 1. I did go outside. So I would probably react well if there was a situation where I was supposed to do something.
Mayhem Miller
Well, good old Khabib Nurmagomedov did not answer the call when they asked. Would he be willing to help in the case of an emergency?
Adam Carolla
Look, here's the thing. Everyone with. Whether it's an airplane or cop. Just yes, Just.
Mayhem Miller
Yes, we have this. We have.
Adam Carolla
All right, we don't have. We never have the sound.
Mayhem Miller
No audio.
Adam Carolla
No, we don't turn the sound up. That's our thing. You got to start from the beginning, though. We always have to restart everything because we never think to turn the sound up. But that's a weird thing that we never do. That.
Mayhem Miller
Well, it's hard to hear anyway.
Flight Attendant
So what we're going to do is we're either going to have you switch your seat because my flight attendants are not allowing you to sit in the exit row, or you're gonna have to get off this plane. And then, because they're not comfortable with you, my flight attendants. And unfortunately, it is fair.
Mayhem Miller
It's not fair.
Flight Attendant
Yes, it is.
Mayhem Miller
You guys. You guys.
Adam Carolla
When I was.
Flight Attendant
They asked me, do I know English? Yes, I said. And they said, yes, I understand that. But it's also off of their judgment. I'm not going to do this back. And for will call a supervisor. You can either take a different seat, or we can go ahead and escort you off the plane. Which one are we doing?
Adam Carolla
We're going to meet you.
Flight Attendant
Okay, I'll call supervisor, and then we're going to have to rebook it for a different flight.
Adam Carolla
All right. Anyway, look, there's a big. Okay, here's a. There's a problem. There's a problem. And the. The problem. You can pause it. The problem is we taking dumb, angry women and putting them in a position of sort of gatekeeper power.
Mayhem Miller
I know.
Adam Carolla
And the way women are wired is when you say to them, hold on, I disagree. I don't think they go, oh, you want to fight now? And you go, no, I don't want to fight. They take it as you digging in and fighting with them, and it's not a good. It's not a good thing.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah. Yeah.
Adam Carolla
That is a moment where she can go, wait a minute. Are you willing to open this and assist in an emergency? You can go, yes. And then you can go, all right, well, let me talk to my other person, Tammy, back here, and just tell her that you're fine with doing this. Maybe she'll change. It's not that. It's like. See, you always see, at some point, they go, either you're gonna switch seats or I'm gonna call my supervisor and we're gonna remove you from the plane. And then you go, well, hold on, I don't think this is fair. And they go, either we're switching seats or I'm gonna call my supervisor. And you go, I think there's been a misunderstanding. Either we're switch. Okay, I'm calling the supervisor. And that's how. Dumb people with power. You cannot give dumb people as much power as we've been giving them.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah. It's a sight of mistake. Yeah. Yeah. And I would just like to see who the hell they're gonna bring on There to drag this guy off the plane because I don't know if my single leg will work. I'm gonna tell you the truth. This guy will be sprawling and brawling. It will be a nightmare to get him off. Many. It took eight police officers to get me in the back of the car before. I can't imagine how many they. It takes to him to get.
Adam Carolla
Well, he got off on his own volition, I think, and God bless him. That was spirit.
Mayhem Miller
No. Yeah, it was. Or Frontier, who had to explain after he. They said Alaska Airlines. They're like, whoa, whoa, whoa. It wasn't us.
Adam Carolla
So Frontier, was it his language barrier?
Mayhem Miller
I think he was just drifting off into a meditative state when they were giving that speech and he didn't respond. And then when he responded with that accent, they kicked him off the plane. That's my take on it. And, I mean, I wasn't there, but that's what it looked like.
Adam Carolla
There should see. Everybody in a position of power should be able to reset.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
And they can't reset. They get going and dumb people in a position of power is dangerous. Dumb women in a position of power is lethal. You are fucked.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Because they look at you as fighting with them, but you're not fighting with them. You're just trying to state a position.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah. I've been thrown off a plane before for a very similar circumstance. What happened? She's like, turn your electronic device off. And I put it on airplane mode. And she came back and was like, turn it off. And I'm like, it's not hurting anything. So I just ignored her. And she's like, I will turn this plane around. And I said, yeah, you're going to turn the plane around. Right. She went sprinting for the front of the plane. And I was like, yeah, right. And I went back to my music, and suddenly the lurch of the plane back to the gate, back to the.
Adam Carolla
Ground, but they push it back to the gate.
Mayhem Miller
They fired the engines up and then fired them down for me.
Adam Carolla
I'm telling you, I wrote a chapter in maybe my first book called We Built a Gilded Cage from Minimum Wage People, which is we surrounded. See, it doesn't. Can I say this?
Mayhem Miller
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Being rich, it doesn't matter anymore. But now, here's what I'm saying. There was a time when you were Frank Sinatra and you were rich.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
And when you're Frank Sinatra and you're rich and some doofus tries to coach you up at an airport, you're like, all right, have that guy killed. I'M just gonna walk past you. Cop pulls you over. You had nine high balls on the New Jersey turnpike and you just pull out a wad of twenties and go.
Mayhem Miller
Here you go, off.
Adam Carolla
So there we go. Can you escort me back to the house? A simpler time right now, it doesn't matter how much you make. You have some fucking idiot with a GED who makes minimum wage and they're the boss of you. You can't get through there. You can't do this. I mean like I'm going through an airport. I got my bag, I take everywhere. Been all around the country 20 times with this bag. Get to this one airport, 23 year old chick's like, Sarah, you can't bring that bag on the plane. I'm like, I bring it on the bag. You gotta check the bag. I do it, I bring it, I bring it. Every Sarah get out of line. It's like I'm just being fucked with by this dumb 23 year old chick who has, by the way, if I want to ignore her or tell her to buzz off or whatever, some point there's going to be pepper spray on me and zip ties. You know what I'm saying? So what we did is we. It's not worth being rich because you just surround yourself with beats.
Mayhem Miller
Martial arts superstars are not, they're not immune to this.
Adam Carolla
You get thrown right off the plane by some dumb bitch. Yeah, yeah, that's where we're at.
Mayhem Miller
Hey, we got the UFC tonight, man. This is a big one in Los Angeles. The main event is Islam Makhachev versus Armand Tsarukian, the hometown kind of boy, because all the Armenians are going to be out big time for Harmon. I could smell the drunk Aqua velvet. Yeah.
Adam Carolla
From here.
Mayhem Miller
Cologne wearing culture, they are. I'm going to be blind favorite in the.
Adam Carolla
I'm going to this fight.
Mayhem Miller
So the, the favorite is actually for some reason, you know, Islam is definitely the favorite, but for some reason the odds are moving for Saruki and I guess that hometown advantage. So he's getting a little bit of love out there as far as the betting lines go. But yeah, I think the overall consensus Islam is too much for him. He's like a bigger, better version of Arman.
Adam Carolla
Is Jamal Hill the guy Torres acl, not acl. Achilles.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah, he tore his Achilles and then got knocked out by old Poatan.
Adam Carolla
Yeah.
Mayhem Miller
So you know, he's on this comeback trail. And then Yuri also lost to Poatan. So this is kind of the battle for number two.
Adam Carolla
Sort of Yuri. Ponytail guy.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah, ponytail Strange, really strange guy with meditative states and sort of ninja style. He's fun to watch. He's real fun to watch.
Adam Carolla
Light heavyweight, light heavyweight brawls.
Mayhem Miller
He brawls like a Polish guy. I've been to his training camp before. The guys are really tough there.
Adam Carolla
Oh really?
Mayhem Miller
Yeah. This is strange style though. He's not the normal, you know, he still has a little bit of that judo edge with the, with his takedowns and he does wild punches and changes stances a lot. He's fun to watch. He's going to be. That should be a really barn burner of a fight. Unless, I don't know. And Hill, you know. Yeah, he got knocked out. Yeah, he was injured with that Achilles and was out and came back kind of fluffy. But you know, he's a explosive athlete with the crazy punches. Like he gives a nice three piece every which away. Every, every fight that, you know, that Alex Pereira fight, he lost that fight. He lost some focus for a moment and got caught with the left hook. But that's not indicative of his normal fights. This guy is like he's getting there to be mastered.
Adam Carolla
You know, it's weird, I was watching some footage of Donovan Razor Ruddock, the boxer, and when he fought Tyson and the great fight against Tyson and blah, blah, blah. If you recall way back in the day, it was a great fight. It was one of Tyson's sort of best, most entertaining fights. But this guy, Donovan Razor Ruddock, he had not an uppercut, not a hook, but an upper hook with his lead hand angle.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
And it just came in that like 45 degree angle underneath the guy's arm.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
And it was under the arm up and it was super effective. And I was looking at it when I was watching this fight with him and Tyson and he was talking about his upper hook or whatever you want to call it, and I thought it's weird that no one else ever really adopted that punch. It was effective. He would throw that left upper hook like 45 degrees up and then come right over the top with it with another, with another hook. So he'd throw his lead like kind of upper hooky thing and then come, and then he'd double up on it, go boom.
Mayhem Miller
Yeah.
Adam Carolla
Oh, well, now he's throwing rice. But he.
Mayhem Miller
No, no, I see.
Adam Carolla
Yeah, he throws in, it's an upper hook and it's really effective and it sets up the overhand after he throws it.
Mayhem Miller
I'm wondering if his padman was part of that, you know. Cause sometimes with certain one of my fighters, I have like, weird ways to hold the pads for them because they punch a special way, you know? Yeah, and this guy has his own specific. This upper hook.
Adam Carolla
It's an upper hook, and it found its mark all the time, and it was really effective. Yeah, and he just nails Tyson in the head with it. I mean, he was beating the shit out of Tommy Morrison with it, too, until Morrison dropped him with his own left hook, which was more traditional. But I was just watching it, and I was like, that's a really effective punch. First it's his lead hand. It's his left hand. I wonder if the guy.
Mayhem Miller
It's really the beauty of the fight sport is each individual athlete gives their own taste of it, you know, their own take on which way to punch or which way to kick. Like, Jamal Hill's got some shades of that. Yuri definitely has his own take on martial arts in totality. And then further down, the card is Benil Del Rush versus Renato Moicano. This guy, you might remember, fought the kid from Lima who came in overweight. And Moicano is like this really stylistic, like, kickboxer type guy. And the guy's fighting Benil Del Rush. I trained with him, Benny, down at Kings in Los. Or I should say Orange County. And, man, that guy is, you know, he's a grizzled veteran at this stage in his career. He's, like, very accomplished, you know, and has excellent kickboxing. So this might be like, the technical fight of the night right here. These guys will definitely, you know. But also, Benny, I will say that has been knocked out recently. This guy is a knockout artist. He's fighting, so there's a big danger for him to go out on his shield that night.
Adam Carolla
Man, I'm pumped. I got tickets. Gonna bring my son, maybe Kevin Costner.
Mayhem Miller
We'll see.
Adam Carolla
Trying to work it out.
Mayhem Miller
It's gonna be a great card, I'm telling you.
Adam Carolla
I'm looking forward to it. It's at the new Clipper spot, too.
Mayhem Miller
Into a dome.
Adam Carolla
Into a dome. Which is brand spanking new, right?
Mayhem Miller
Yeah, I believe so. Yeah. Not even knock the dust off it.
Adam Carolla
And it's got a lot of bathrooms. That's what I hear. All right, Mayhem. I think we've covered it. We'll keep you posted.
