Hey there folks. It is Wednesday, January 14, and some breaking developments on a story that has really been fast moving over the past several days. We just watched actor Timothy Busville make his first court appearance on child sex abuse charges. He was wearing an orange jail jumpsuit and that will remain his outfit and he ain't getting out of jail soon with that. Welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ Robes. We just watched this as of this recording just wrapped up within the past 10 minutes and I say he's wearing that orange jumpsuit. He's not getting out of jail. They want him to stay in jail and we're going to get into why they think he is such a threat. But Robes, it was something to see him come into that to that courtroom.
A
It really was. We watched him walk in, this actor that we've all, all seen on camera for decades now, just to see him in that orange jumpsuit in such a humbling position. And yes, to hear him denied bail. He will be behind bars at least until his next hearing, which they said has to take place within five business days. So he could be in prison for the next, what, week almost at this point until he has his first hearing. But in addition to all of this today, him being denied bond, there are also new allegations he's dealing with.
B
Yeah, that popped up from the court filing and the court filing, there are some parts of it we are going to read verbatim that are just damning and are not painting this as an isolated incident, but robes painting him as a repeat offense offender, a pedophile.
A
Yes, yes. The Albuquerque da. This was a scathing file that she entered into the court today leading up to this bond hearing and asking the judge to deny him bail. She said he was a serious and ongoing danger. She and she pointed out some of the reasons behind why the state of New Mexico did not want to see him get bond. They said that because he didn't immediately surrender because he was on the lam for five days. They said taking his time, doing it his way, not cooperating with police they said he should have surrendered immediately. And they also. They didn't like that video he made that TMZ posted. And they absolutely cited that as one of the reasons why they didn't think that he should be a allowed bond.
B
And he will not, folks. So, Timothy Busfield. And again, we were watching on a live feed that was coming to us via an affiliate that was out there. But you. It was all done. The judge wasn't. It was all done virtually. So the attorneys appeared. I mean, imagine a zoom meeting is what it looked like.
A
It is what it looked like.
B
Court proceeding. And you could see the courtroom. You could see the attorneys in a box, and the judge was in a separate box. And we kept hearing people called up, right, Accused after accused. They're all in their prison uniforms and answering the judge's questions. And then they come to one, and the judge says, was I supposed to clear the courtroom for this last one? And someone in the court is answering her. And the person in the courtroom said, we have one more. They're being held in another room, but they have private counsel. And so we knew what was coming. But when he walked in, it was unmistakable who it was. I mean, you could just. In the grainy video in the small box, you could tell that was him. Just. He almost looked ghost white with the hair. And just his facial. His skin tone.
A
Yeah, it was a surreal moment to see him walk in like that because we had just seen him 24 hours earlier in that video he made. And he seemed defiant, and he said, you know, to camera, hey, I basically hope I get out of there soon. Hope I won't be in there too long. He was almost flippant in the video, and he did seem sincere in his denial, saying, I've never done anything wrong with those boys. And so, look, I thought he seemed earnest and he seemed sincere, but, you know, at the end when he was like, yeah, I hope I get out. Just to now see him 24 hours later look very different. And just to see him in that humbling position, he did not speak. His attorney spoke for him. But you actually noticed when, just after the judge denied bond for him and said he would be remaining in the custody of the state until his next hearing five business days from now. You noticed how he reacted physically when he was walking out.
B
You know, he whipped around, and I think the one, the bailiff or whoever, the person was in there from law enforcement that was escorting him tried to reach out and kind of guide him. And he did. He kind of. In my estimate, how I viewed and how I saw it, he did look defiant. He looked pissed off. He looked like he wanted to get the hell out of there. And you can't blame him necessarily for that. But this Timothy Busfield who said he drove from upstate New York to New Mexico over the weekend, the 2,000 miles to turn himself in is going to be staying in New Mexico. Now. I mean rogue, this is, it didn't feel, I meant to ask you about this early. It felt like this thing escalated quickly.
A
Yes. And now there are reports of law enforcement going through, busting into their home upstate. So it looked as if it went from, hey, we're, we're looking for this guy, we're not going to call him a fugitive to all of a sudden now new allegations, he's being denied bond. Law enforcement storming his home upstate. Now it all feels much different.
B
And again, facing two counts now of inappropriate contact with a minor. Now robes if you have it in front of you as well. We're going to go folks through what we're talking about from the documents submitted in court from the prosecution today laying out at least the case in the case for keeping him behind bars. Right now it goes through and gives some details but at the bottom is kind of a summary and this is, this is jaw dropping stuff. This is not just a matter of isolated incident or something being misinterpreted. They are saying this guy is something else.
A
That's right. And of note in the paragraph above the conclusion, that is where this new allegation comes out. And they get very specific and very detailed about what this father claims Timothy Busfield did to his 16 year old daughter not that long ago. So it's disturbing. So you, you read this new allegation and then the DA says this. The defendant's repeated sexual touching of the victim's intimate areas combined with deliberate grooming behaviors establishes a sustained pattern of predatory conduct. This conduct demonstrates that the defendant poses a serious and ongoing danger not only to the named victims, but to any child placed within his proximity. Sexual exploitation of children reflects a profound disregard for the physical safety, emotional well being and developmental health of minors. And it evidences a risk that cannot be adequately mitigated through supervision or conditional release.
B
This Emmy winning actor should not be anywhere close to a child is what they are saying. Every child within his orbit is in danger.
A
Serious and ongoing danger.
B
This is incredible. This thing goes on to say the danger posed by the defendant is further amplified by his conduct after learning of the warrant in this case despite knowing on Friday afternoon that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. The defendant did not immediately surrender to law enforcement in instead, he delayed for approximately five days, traveling from New York to New Mexico to avoid the extradition process. This was an act. Excuse me. This was not an act of cooperation. It was a calculated decision to submit to law enforcement only on terms most convenient to the defendant. Now they just sound pissed, right?
A
And then she goes on. More troubling, prior to surrendering, the defendant chose to record and disseminate a video to a national media outlet, tmz. This conduct demonstrates a willingness to prioritize personal narrative control and public relations over compliance with lawful court processes. Such behavior raises serious concerns that the defendant will comply with court orders only when it suits him, rather than out of respect for judicial authority or the rule of law.
B
It goes on. The defendant's history of alleged sexual misconduct spanning more than two decades, coupled with the fear expressed by witnesses regarding retaliation and professional harm, illustrates how individuals in positions of power are able to silence victims and witnesses, allowing abuse to persist unchecked. The delay and limited cooperation by Warner Brothers in responding to a search warrant further underscores the institutional barriers that have historically enabled this type of misconduct to continue. Wow.
A
Wow. I mean, they threw Warner Brothers under the bus as well. And so they say. Research and experience consistently show that when offenders wield authority, status, or influence, they are uniquely positioned to evade accountability and circumvent safeguards designed to protect children. In light of the defendants demonstrated disregard for boundaries, authority, and compliance, no condition or combination of conditions of release can reasonably protect the victims or the community. Accordingly, the only way to ensure the safety of children and preserve the integrity of these proceedings is to detain the defendant in custody pending resolution of this matter at trial.
B
They're saying trial.
A
They want him behind bars at trial.
B
Not even talking about a possible bond hearing. Which is what he's going to get. Right. In five years, he's going to get that. So he'll get a chance to get out. But they are.
A
That is, they are asking for him to potentially be behind bars for a year.
B
Yeah. Waiting for a trial to happen. Robes, that's. I mean, what do they. They must think they have a case of some kind. You hate to suggest. You don't want to think they're trying to make an example, but they've been accused in times before. Having to do with the celebrity of going too far. But ropes. I do. I say it escalated quickly to the rumblings about it. And these charges are. He's being accused and now there are charges, and then they're pending and then he's missing and then now the marshals are looking for him and now he just popped up and now it seemed like this thing went from 0 to 150. It did in no time. And you just mentioned a moment ago, yes, a lot of headlines, folks. You're going to see that there's another victim out there. Another victim. And we're finding out about this because of what is actually in the court filing. We will go through next what a 16 year old is saying Timothy Busfield did to her.

We continue now on Amy and TJ Just a short time ago, yeah short of this recording, Timothy Busfield, we essentially watched him in his court hearing and sat down and hit record today but made his court appearance. He is going to be held without bond until a bond or detention hearing is held sometime next week we do expect. But he is accused of course by two boys, twin boys who were actors on a show that he was directing, accused him of touching them and as they put it there, pee and poo areas. But they detail some pretty horrific stuff and rogue it was worth pointing out they weren't talking about an isolated incident. They said it happened when they were there were twin boys who were on the show would happen when they were seven and eight. But they told a teacher, therapist, parent like in different independent times. So it's, it's horrific. Some of the stuff they describe and he defended himself, said nope, they're all lies, horrible lies. And during the initial investigation he said he would tickle them.
A
His, his answer that has been released when he was questioned about this by authorities was a little concerning because first he said he didn't remember them and then he said oh well, basically a lot of tickling. Yes, there's a lot of play housing and tickling. You know I, I can't say I wouldn't have done that. Like it then it got really weird and it just seemed and sounded fishy. It just did.
B
That's. Yeah. There's no other way to put. And what you described is actually right. That wasn't just you not remembering it. That's how he sounded. Yeah.
A
He was fumbling around deciding whether or not he remembered it and then kind of saying, oh, a lot of tickling. That sounds like me. That sounds like something I would do. Okay, that's a little disturbing in and of itself. But what was really disturbing was in this court filing today. We got specific word about at least one other person who has come forward since the news was made public. So the warrant for his arrest was issued on January 9 and that is when headlines came around. Well, according to this court filing, another victim's father, and they gave the name of the father. I thought that was interesting. Went to law enforcement on January 13th. So this is just yesterday. But in light of the headlines. And he reported that his daughter was sexually abused by Timothy Busfield. He said that that occurred several years ago by the hands of Busfield while auditioning for him at B Street Theater. He said his 16 year old reported that Busfield kissed her and put his hands down her pants and touched her privates. This is where it gets really sad because yes, that's horrible. But then they say the defendant begged the family to not report to law enforcement if he received therapy. And because the father of this daughter is a licensed therapist himself, he said he thought at that time that was the best thing to do. But now that he's seen that this was not an isolated incident, he decided to come forward and report the assault.
B
He hasn't been convicted of anything over the years. Right. That's always worth noting. It's worth noting that he says these are all horrible lies and he is not guilty of any of it. I should also note that his wife, Melissa Gilbert, is standing by him according to a statement that's been put out on her behalf by attorneys. And this is where we are robes, but this thing happened really, really fast. So the next you do. You did the math for me, he.
A
Has to have it by next Wednesday. He has to have his bond hearing. So they said within five business days it could be tomorrow. Who knows what sort of poll his attorney may have about getting an expedited hearing. I would think he would want that sooner rather than later to see or at least to know whether or not he has a chance of getting out or if this is. I mean, when you read what this DA asked of this judge to consider when it came to bond, it sounds like they are going to put full pressure on the court to keep him behind bars for all the reasons they outlined.

Podcast: Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes Present
Network: iHeartPodcasts
Date: January 14, 2026
This episode delivers urgent, real-time coverage of Emmy-winning actor Timothy Busfield’s first court appearance on child sex abuse charges. Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes offer a close-up account of the court proceedings, analyze the prosecution's newly filed allegations—including a fresh accusation—and discuss the climate of heightened legal and media scrutiny around Busfield. The focus is on the acceleration of the criminal case, the gravity of the accusations, and the refusal of bail.
Visual and Emotional Impact:
Denial of Bond:
Sequence of Events:
Court Hearing Atmosphere:
Busfield’s Demeanor:
Earlier Accusations:
Twin boys, who were actors on a show Busfield directed, say he repeatedly touched and abused them when they were seven and eight years old ([18:24], B; [19:28], A).
Busfield’s explanation to authorities was inconsistent and evasive (“...he said he didn’t remember them and then he said oh well, basically a lot of tickling...”; [19:28], A).
Additional Allegations from Court Filing:
The court documents include a new accusation from the father of a 16-year-old girl, describing an alleged assault during an audition years prior ([20:06], A: "According to this court filing, another victim's father...reported that his daughter was sexually abused by Timothy Busfield. He said that that occurred several years ago by the hands of Busfield while auditioning for him at B Street Theater...").
The DA’s scathing comments portray Busfield as a calculated serial offender:
"The defendant's repeated sexual touching of the victim's intimate areas combined with deliberate grooming behaviors establishes a sustained pattern of predatory conduct...” ([10:04], A, quoting court filing)
“No condition or combination of conditions of release can reasonably protect the victims or the community...” ([13:55], A, quoting DA)
Alleged Pattern and Systemic Failings:
“When offenders wield authority, status, or influence...they are uniquely positioned to evade accountability...” ([13:08], A, quoting DA)
Busfield’s Media Moves:
Family Support:
Host Reflections:
“I do. I say it escalated quickly...It seemed like this thing went from 0 to 150. It did in no time.” ([14:13], B)
On Busfield in Court:
On the DA’s Filing:
“This conduct demonstrates that the defendant poses a serious and ongoing danger not only to the named victims, but to any child placed within his proximity." ([10:04], A, quoting the DA)
“This Emmy winning actor should not be anywhere close to a child..." – T.J. Holmes ([11:05], B)
“No condition or combination of conditions of release can reasonably protect the victims or the community." ([13:08], A, quoting the DA)
On Newest Accusation:
On Systemic Barriers:

Amy and T.J. promise continued coverage, underscoring the story’s fast-moving and consequential nature.
Note:
All information comes directly from the hosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, who blend live reaction, legal reading, and media analysis. Their tone is urgent, serious, and at times shocked by the developments and language of the court filings.
