This is happening right now as we are recording. Former President Bill Clinton is giving testimony before this congressional committee. Sure, Presidents have done it before. They have never been required to do so and show up or else. This is some say, precedent setting.

Yes, precedent setting and history making. Indeed. And, oh, I cannot believe that we understand we are actually going to be able to watch a video of this, get a transcript of this word for word. I mean, this is remarkable. And even made more so when we just recently, moments ago, got the opening statement that President Clinton is delivering. Perhaps as we record this, two members of the House Oversight Committee who are investigating the Jeffrey Epstein investigation and Bill Clinton is on fire.

I wasn't sure it was him when I first saw it. I was not. It took me several moments because I didn't trust what I was seeing. This came out. He posted it just like his wife did yesterday. Hillary Clinton put out her opening statement before she went in and it was on his ex account, his verified X account. But some of the things I was reading in the tone, I'm like, wait a minute. And we're so used to fake statements and things coming out.

I paused.

You actually said, babe, I'm not sure that this is actually his statement. And I said, is it on Instagram? You said, no, on X. I jumped on it. I said, babe, this is his verified account. And this looks exactly like Hillary's. It has the same template, basically. So I was like, oh, no, this is totally him. And then I started reading it and I realized where you were coming from. Oh, boy. This is not mild mannered Southern gentleman President Clinton.

He looked like, he's like, bring it. I know what this is. This is my arena. I know what you're about to do. And I'm telling you what I'm about to say. Go. The tone was unexpected for me. So let's get right into it. This, his was shorter than hers yesterday. Right. She had three and a half, four pages. He kept it short and sweet, but

he packed a punch.

He did.

All right, it begins. Good morning. Welcome to Chappaqua. Even that, like, welcome to my hometown. Welcome to my home turf. He is absolutely drawing a line like, this is mine, my territory. Welcome to my turf. All right. I am here today for two reasons. The first is that I love my country. And America was built upon the idea that no person is above the law. Even presidents. Especially presidents.

He said robes in those first two. I was like, yeah, this probably isn't him. I was like, I'm being fooled. And I was. I said, maybe we shouldn't do an episode, because I'm not sure if this is actually Bill Clinton because of that beginning.

You know what? He kind of has earned the right. You know, you get to a certain age and you say whatever you think. And I imagine that's amplified if you've been the President of the United States. Been there, done that, been through every scandal, been impeached. Yeah. He is at that point in his life where he can say exactly what he wants to. And he continues. Democracy requires every person to play their part. And I hope that by being here today, we can bring ourselves a little further away from the brink and back to being a country where we can disagree with one another civilly, where the search for truth and justice outweighs the partisan urge to score points and create spectacle. I'll do my part, and I hope you'll do yours. He continues. The second reason I'm here is that the girls and women whose lives Jeffrey Epstein destroyed deserve not only justice, but. But healing. They've been waiting too long for both. Though my brief acquaintance with Epstein earned ended years before his crimes came to light, and though I never witnessed, during our limited interactions any indication of what was truly going on, I am here to offer what little I know so that it might prevent anything like this from ever happening again.

And it should be noted, Rose, there's no one necessarily refuting what he's saying here. There's no evidence of an extended relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, certainly after he started or he was charged with crime. So, yes, the pictures, all that stuff looks bad.

[Amy Robach]

No, it looks bad. And look where he. And this isn't something, given the timeframe when he was friends with Jeffrey Epstein, he can say that he wouldn't have known what Jeffrey Epstein was up to. It wasn't publicly known he hadn't been charged. So that is still remains to be a fair statement. It is, however, though, among many of. Or some of the girls who were there in that circle, seeing Jeffrey Epstein and them knowing what he was doing to them, seeing someone like Bill Clinton by his side gave him power, gave him this feeling, or at least Their sense that you could never cross him because of. Look who he is with. He is with the President of the United States. So it's not. Is it fair to blame Bill Clinton for being near him or by just an association with him? It contributed to this feeling of helplessness among some of Epstein's victims.

And no one will ever believe some. Excuse me. There are certain segments of the population who will never, ever, ever believe that Bill Clinton wasn't a part of some of this nefarious stuff going on. They just will refuse no matter what evidence shows. And that's just where we are in our politics. He continues here. And I was. I. I like this next line in which he's taking up for. I mean, he almost in this even like you drag my wife in.

I love. I love this. It's very cool. So he says. But before we start, I have to get personal. You made Hillary come in. She had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein. Nothing. She has no memory of even meeting him. So she neither traveled with him nor visited any of his properties. Whether you subpoenaed 10 people or 10,000, including her, was simply not right. Man, I love that.

What was the point of it, though, babe?

No one has been able to offer a reasonable explanation as to why Hillary Clinton was called in to testify, other than perhaps to vouch for Bill or to say something or shed some light on what she knows about Bill's relationship with Epstein.

The attempt, like even if, you know, she knows nothing for political reasons, what even was the attempt? What did they gain by yesterday?

Kind of what I think some people have alluded to, that Republicans were salivating at the opportunity to be able to question Hillary and Bill Clinton, sworn enemies of the Republican Party.

[TJ Holmes]

What was it she said? She said at some point they asked the same questions over and over again. She came out and spoke. I give her credit for that. Don't know if we'll see that from former President Clinton today, but she spoke. It was a familiar thing. We've seen her handle, press handle. She was right back in her arena doing her thing. But she said it got so ridiculous at the end. They were asking her questions about UFOs and bizarre things like they. They ran out of stuff. There was not. How do you keep asking the same question over and over? But it'll be different today for sure. But I say it just what do they get out of having her in there yesterday? But I liked. He included that line.

I did, too. I liked it a lot. And I, by the way, I seriously cannot wait for these videos to be released because then we will actually see what happened in that closed door meeting. All right, the President, the former president continues. We began this hearing with me raising my hand and taking an oath to tell the truth. But everyone has a responsibility to be honest with those they represent. Whether you raised your right hand or not, each and every one of us owes nothing less than truth and accuracy and to the American people. Now let me say what you're going to hear from me, okay?

And you've just switched over so that that line you all just heard Robes read is on the second page of his statement. And this second page is written in, they're not long paragraphs. He's hitting notes and robes. This second page here, he's almost teeing up. All right.

Yes, he teased it up because, man, I'm telling you that we can we just tease ahead. The last two paragraphs or last two lines are actually worth the wait because you I've never heard Bill Clinton ever speak like this.

And he just a short while ago released his opening statement on X. And we're getting to the good stuff as they say right now.

Go ahead. Second page here he starts. Now let me say what you're going to hear from me first. I had no idea of the crimes Epstein was committing. No matter how many photos you show me, I have two things that the end of the day matter more than your interpretation of those 20 year old photos. I know what I saw and more importantly what I didn't see. I know what I did and more importantly what I didn't do. I saw nothing and I did nothing. That's the end of the story for him.

Yeah, he said I did nothing wrong.

So let's go through this exercise.

Yes. And so then he goes on to talk about his background a bit. As someone who grew up in a home with domestic abuse. Not only would I not have flown on his plane if I had any inkling of what he was doing, I would have turned him in myself and led the call for justice for his crimes, not sweetheart deals. But even with 2020 hindsight, I saw nothing that ever gave me pause. We are only here because he hid it from everyone so well for so long. And by the time it came to light with his 2008 guilty plea, I had long stopped associating with him.

Isn't that so interesting that the President of the United States, somebody that savvy, who knows that many people who's around, he can be fooled completely. And he is flying around with a guy who's a pedophile and doesn't even know it.

Yeah, I mean that just shows you how manipulative pedophiles are. I mean that is something that many people talk about. The. And let's just be honest, Jeffrey Epstein is probably the most prolific pedophile we know. And anyone who has covered these stories or unfortunately knows someone or has been a part of this, these men, mostly men, are brilliant at fooling everyone around them and getting parents to trust them, getting people who love those children more than anything to trust them with their children. So that isn't that shocking when you think about what you we know of

pedophiles, man, that is just to hear the president admit that, to say that kind of a thing. Like, I didn't even see anything that made me suspicious.

That's hard to believe, but, man, that is something. Where are we now?

This was all a long time ago, and I am bound by my oath not to speculate or to guess. This is not merely for my benefit, but because it doesn't help you for me to play detective 24 years later.

Okay, and now here it is. This is the big one we're going to set up here. Last couple of lines of Bill Clinton in this statement. Rhodes and I read this part as well. I said, no, this can't be Clinton. This is somebody made up. This is a fake statement online. And again, we saw it so quickly. Really ropes. I saw it within probably five minutes of it being posted. So it hadn't gotten around that much. And so it wasn't that many retweets or whatever. So I said, nah, that's probably not it. It's gone up since then, and this is the real deal. But this is part of the reason, Robes. I didn't think it was him because this was just.

All right, final two lines from Bill Clinton to the House Oversight Committee. Since I am under oath, I will not falsely state that I am looking forward to your questions, but I am ready to answer them to the best of my abilities, consist with the facts as I know them, the legitimate, the logical, and even the outlandish. With that, Mr. Chairman. Fire away, Robes. He is ready for battle.

And that sarcastic look, I'd be lying if I say I look forward to your question. Since I'm under oath. I can't say that it was just snarky. It was. Let's do this. Oh, my goodness. When this. I might have to watch this one before I watch Hillary's. This is good stuff.

And you just know, like, what would you have paid to be at dinner with Hillary and Bill last night? She comes back, she's like, oh, let me tell you what happened in there.

I just. That would have been a dinner to be at and to hear what she told him about what her experience was like. He goes in there with all that knowledge. Not that he needed. Look, he's been through impeachment hearings. This is somebody who knows how to handle aggressive congressmen and women's questions and depositions. Oh my goodness, they are playing this on tv. Just as we look up the other thing wrote the they say we don't know. When Comer did come up, he came out and made a statement before, before it started today, the the chair, he said he was going to send members out regularly. What did you make of that?

[Amy Robach]

That was really strange. He said that he was going to send Republican members of the committee out periodically to update reporters on what was happening inside, which just seems so strange. Again, to reiterate, both Bill and Hillary Clinton was wanted reporters in these hearings. They wanted it to be open testimony. So it just seems bizarre Comers now maybe trying to just nullify that or at least give reporters something by saying we'll send Republican members.

[TJ Holmes]

Let a pool reporter sit in there. One pool reporter.

Well, I don't understand what the point of that is because also now you're just getting one version of it.

[TJ Holmes]

Yes, that's the point of this. That's why I'm looking. I'm still checking to see if a picture from inside is going to come out today like Hillary's yesterday to get their message. One thing, one sided message. Because quite frankly, Robes, if you put Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton on live TV with all those cameras in front of, I don't care how many members of Congress, they're probably going to win those exchanges.

And why not let the American people see that happen as it's occurring instead of letting Republicans come out and say what they think happened, which of course is going to be through a lens of partisan politics.

[TJ Holmes]

The Clintons can make you look stupid. Stupid.

[Amy Robach]

And speaking of that, Nancy Mace comes out and starts talking about what her impressions were of Hillary Clinton yesterday. And again, this is why Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton wanted this public. So that you couldn't have this happen. You couldn't have Republicans come out, go on the talk shows and say oh my God, it was this, it was that. When it might not have been anything the way they described it, but today it's out there.

[TJ Holmes]

She comes out, says she's unhinged. Hillary Clinton was hope Bill Clinton is not unhinged like his wife was yesterday. What was the other word?

[Amy Robach]

Screaming.

[TJ Holmes]

Screaming.

[Amy Robach]

She said Hillary Clinton was screaming during her deposition.

[TJ Holmes]

Maybe she was, maybe she was and maybe we'll see it later. But right now that's the the narrative. Now when do we get to see the video? Is anybody going to care to watch and go through and see, oh, whoa, she didn't actually scream? No, that's the narrative, that's the story.

It's interesting because Nancy Mace has made it very clear because we actually just watched a report where the reporter followed up. Wait, do you actually mean she was actually screaming? Yes, she was unhapp hinged. So that was very specific. It will be verifiable when these videos

come out and we will be watching. We'll keep an eye on this. We are actually expecting updates so if anything rises to the level, we'll hop back on and give you an update. Also, former President Clinton, I mean he could possibly come up to cameras. He seems to be in a good mood with this statement.
