T.J. Holmes
Hey there folks. It is Thursday, March 26th. This set up to be a big day in Washington. The last person believed to see Jeffrey Epstein alive scheduled to give testimony in the Epstein investigation. However, she won't be there with that. Welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ Robes. This is a person, this is a name who for whatever reason, hasn't been focused on that much. But Rhodes, when we talk about the last person to see Epstein alive, that makes you sit up and pay attention.
Amy Robach
It certainly does. And this guard, Tova Noel, has been in the headlines for quite some time since Jeffrey Epstein's death. And lawmakers say and have said publicly they have a lot of questions for her. In fact, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee said there is a mystery surrounding some of the information that they have learned through the unsealing of the Epstein documents that they need answers to. Specifically that Tova Noel alone can answer. So yes, she was supposed to be testifying today in front of that committee.
T.J. Holmes
So this was the schedule. Yes, that same committee that brought in the Clintons? Yes, those folks, the Oversight Committee headed up by Comer, the Republican, you know, the group we're talking about. But they have been doing this investigation of the investigation, essentially. So they've been calling various folks in, invited her in, scheduled it for today, was supposed to happen today. Now her attorney and this to the last minute robes we were on you could argue the edge of our seats waiting to see if she was going to show up. We did finally get the heads up last night robes that she's not coming. This is through her attorney you said, right?
Amy Robach
Yes. Her attorney said she will not appear at all this week although it was anticipated, highly anticipated, it was going to be today. But that the House Oversight Committee is communicating with negotiating with her attorney. And James Comer said that he will subpoena her if he has to.
T.J. Holmes
So we will see her later.
Amy Robach
We will see her later.
T.J. Holmes
She'll get compelled now. Tova Noel, why is she such a big deal? Yes ropes we say just she's the last one to see Epstein alive. All the questions around. Some people will never ever, ever believe that he died by suicide. But she is the last person to see him alive. So Comer, let's take these point by point. The few things that are in question for him. These things have been out there. Some I guess robes we got more detail about through the Epstein files that were released. But the suspicious stuff, if you will, that she was up to.
Amy Robach
Yes. So there are specific things that they have outlined that they want question or want answers to. First of all, the searches that she reportedly made on Google in the hours leading up to discovering Jeffrey Epstein's body. They also want to know why she deposited $5,000 days before Jeffrey Epstein was found dead. And they want to know what she knows about this orange blob that is seen now on some of this newly released surveillance video the night of Epstein's death. So we can get into those are the three main things they want answers to. And frankly, it is mysterious the word they used. It is though when you start to actually look into look it's given rise to look. There have been conspiracy theories obviously most a lot of people do not believe. People who are into the conspiracy theories do not believe that Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide. They believe or died by suicide. They believe that he was killed by someone because he knew too much. There were too many high powered, powerful people who were going to be brought down by him if this went to trial.
T.J. Holmes
There's nothing anybody that answer will never come. I'm saying there is nothing we can do. We can have full video of him doing every single step to take his own life. And somebody will say that video was doctored. I'm saying Rhodes, we've gotten to a point with this story that nothing is believable. Nothing is going to satisfy either side. Truth, excuse me, the facts we will never know because everybody's got their own truth. So here we go again. Here. It's Tova Noel. Now, what were the searches?
Bethenny Frankel
Yes.
T.J. Holmes
All right. None of these are smoking gun things, but if you're a conspiracy theorist, you will listen to these and go, aha.
Amy Robach
Yes. I actually think the searches are the least interesting thing, so we'll get those out of the way. But at 5:42am on August 10, the day that Epstein was found dead, she searched. Latest on Epstein in jail in the Google search. Ten minutes later, she did the exact same search. And then when she was questioned about it, she told investigators she didn't remember reading any news articles about Epstein. So they just want to ask her, why were you searching that on Google at 5:42 in the morning just a few hours before you found him hanging in his cell?
T.J. Holmes
Yeah. They're going to get to the bottom of this. These are the tough questions that need to be asked about the island.
Amy Robach
So the searches to me, are not as big of a deal. Okay, the cash deposits are. So there were 12 cash deposits from April of 2018. The last one made on July 30th of 2019. Remember, Jeffrey Epstein was found in his cell on August 10th. So those are, you know, that's within 10 days of him dying by suicide. She put a $5,000 deposit. Now, the interesting thing is her bank reported those deposits to the FBI as, quote, unquote, suspicious activity. And we don't really know why. So they are going to ask her, where did that money come from? How did you suddenly have $5,000 to deposit 10 days before Jeffrey Epstein was found dead?
T.J. Holmes
Why shouldn't the answer be none of your business? You're accusing me of something. I got nothing to talk about. Why? Okay, you got money we don't think you should have, and you were in somewhere close proximity. Epstein. Now, the detail being left out, robes. All of these transactions happened before the man even got arrested. There was only one of these transactions won.
Amy Robach
The $5,000 was on. On July 30th.
T.J. Holmes
Yes. The man wasn't in jail. All these deposits they're talking about. So why is it suspicious that this woman gets paid all this money before the man even. We even knew he was going to end up in that jail.
Amy Robach
That because someone knew he was going to end up in that jail ten months out. Ten days.
T.J. Holmes
No, no, no. I'm saying all those payments we're talking about.
Amy Robach
Oh, the main one that they're concerned about is that $5,000.
T.J. Holmes
Okay. All the other ones had significant.
Public Ad Announcer
They were.
T.J. Holmes
That was Consistent with all the other ones, is what I'm saying. What are we talking about? We're grabbing everything. Don't get me wrong. I don't know what this woman did in there. Fine. But I. It's. It's crazy that this story and every little thing becomes the smoking gun for somebody to say aha.
Amy Robach
Right?
T.J. Holmes
So, yes, well, look at it. Rookie guard. How long has she been on this?
Amy Robach
I don't know. But look at it like this. At the very least, it. It. The hope is perhaps that they can stop hounding this woman. They can stop. Maybe some of these conspiracy theories can be ended or put to bed when you hear what she has to say. Now, I will say that James Comer did say his quote was specifically about the payments. He said it's a mystery. And that's something, according to the DOJ documents he's looked at that no one ever looked into and that no one has ever asked her about. So they said no one has asked her these questions. It's about time someone did. And he also said no one is accusing this woman of any wrongdoing. But we have a lot of questions about the hours leading up to Jeffrey Epstein's death. Okay, that's fair.
T.J. Holmes
Ask away. But it's also fair for her to say it's none of your damn business where my money came from. Now, if you all want to accuse me something, start a criminal investigation, subpoena my bank, knock yourself out. But in the meantime, to clear up what there's no answer she could give that is going to satisfy the conspiracy theorist. Period, point blank.
Amy Robach
Okay, you want to talk about the Orange Blob?
T.J. Holmes
Don't even get me started on the Orange Blob.
Amy Robach
The Orange Blob. Okay, so this is one of the videos that was released in the big Epstein dump. And you can see a. A strange orange colored figure on jail surveillance cameras the night leading up to Epstein being found. Okay, so this is in the hours leading up to his death. So at 10:40pm Specifically on August 9, you see a blur of orange moving up a staircase that leads to. To a hallway of cells. And one of those cells was Epstein's cell. Here's the problem there. All inmates were locked in for the night by then. This is 10:40pm an orange blob would imply that it was an inmate. Right, because they're the ones who wear orange. So here are the two possible theories. That it was an inmate perhaps being escorted up to that cell way that that cell block. Maybe someone was being brought in. But the problem Is. Yes. Inmates weren't supposed to be out and about at that point. Number two, it could have been someone carrying inmate linen or bedding up the stairs, because. Yes, that's. It could have been like basically an inmate's uniform, and it could have been in someone's hand. It does look like. Did you see it?
T.J. Holmes
Yes, it's.
Amy Robach
It's hard to. To tell what. What did you see?
T.J. Holmes
Nothing.
Amy Robach
You saw an orange blob, though.
T.J. Holmes
I saw nothing.
Amy Robach
You saw orange.
T.J. Holmes
I saw orange, yeah. Okay, so the theory is what? The smoking gun there is what?
Amy Robach
According to the theory, conspiracy theorists would say that someone either dressed as an inmate or an inmate was hired to go into Jeffrey Epstein's cell and kill him and make it look like a suicide. Now, in a report that night, they talked about staffing failures, right? Because we can get into. Because those two guards who were there were charged. The charges were dropped because they fell asleep. They weren't actually doing what they were supposed to do. They were supposed to be checking on Jeffrey Epstein every 30 minutes. He was on suicide watch. That did not happen. But the belief is that maybe someone went up there, whoever that orange blob is, and killed him.
T.J. Holmes
Didn't they explain the orange blob? I thought there was an answer.
Amy Robach
The staffing failures. They thought that Noel actually was carrying linen or clothing to an inmate around that time, whether it was Epstein or someone else, and that she was the one who potentially was carrying the orange blob up the stairs to an inmate. She says she did not. She says she did not give new linen to anyone. She says that was not her at 10:40pm oh.
T.J. Holmes
So who was it? Robes? That must be the killer.
Amy Robach
Epstein had extra linen and clothing in his cell on the morning he died, and no one knows why. I'm just saying, okay. What the conspiracy is.
T.J. Holmes
We've got to talk to this questions
Amy Robach
that need to be answered.
T.J. Holmes
Okay, Forgive my sarcasm, my cynicism here, but it. This. This will never, ever end. And yes, I think the importance of this, Robes. Yes, if it turns out that someone had a hand in killing this man, then you have to go trace back and figure out why. And then that's going to go back to somebody. So I guess you need those answers to possibly get to the. To some not just justice for or taking holding somebody account for his death, but you'd be holding somebody account accountable down the road who wanted him dead. That means you wanted him dead for a reason, which means you were probably complicit in some way in this whole scheme. And these women deserve those answers, right? This still goes back and that's why it is important robes to know. But how important? How much damage does this do if we we never accept, right? I guess there's some people who will never accept. But what does that do to us to keep having these conversations and orange blobs and mystery and this theory and that theory. It's just the story will never end.
Amy Robach
I know we're almost at seven years since his death and we're still questioning how he died. And look, I do think to have Tova Noel go up and testify. Can you imagine what her life is like? Because conspiracy theorists do not let things go and she is at the time same center of a lot of conspiracy theories. So for her to be able to at least set the record straight I would think would hopefully help her in some ways at least try and get an official word out about what she doesn't know. Period. End of story. But when we come back, we're going to talk about, by the way, the fact that she was charged initially and the reason why. Tj, you are correct. We will never see the end to conspiracy theories because of this reason. There's so much noise around weight loss right now. T.J. Holmes
All right, we continue here on Amy and tj. During the commercial break, Robes convinced me completely that this, the orange blob, is actually the key to this is the killer case.
Amy Robach
Is the killer of Jeffrey Epstein. Yes, that is what people think. But here's the deal. I teased this and this is true. We will never see the end to conspiracy theories because the video from Jeffrey Epstein cell block, the camera that was right there on that cell block during the key hours around his death will never be seen because do you remember the video recording system happened to malfunction that night?
T.J. Holmes
Happens all the time. Happens all the time.
Amy Robach
That is a huge coinky dink.
T.J. Holmes
Here's the thing. This for context. What I would like to know is how often cameras at that particular jail have failures. If you tell me it only happens once every nine months, then I'll go. Wait a second. If this is a regular occurrence, then this might not be such a big deal.
Amy Robach
I don't have the answer to that, but I just know that it malfunctioned was the official word in the hours where we believe Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide. So I do think that. And because of that, there will never be that we know what happened because we can see it. There is no actual evidence. There is no way to confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that he died by suicide or that no one went into his jail cell. We don't know because the camera wasn't working on that cell block.
T.J. Holmes
You not. You know, I'm not a big circumstantial evidence kind of guy.
Amy Robach
Right.
T.J. Holmes
Don't get me wrong. All this stuff adds up to a very big. Come on, man. It does. It's one of those things you look at and say, just come on, give me a break.
Amy Robach
Look, I hold out. Look. And I think most people who have looked at all of the facts surrounding this case believe that Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide. But I. I still hold a space that. That isn't necessarily true. I think there is still an absolute space that needs to be left open that someone could have commissioned his death. Yes, it happens in prison all the time.
T.J. Holmes
Okay?
Amy Robach
All the time. And by the way, I don't know, just to refresh everyone's remember in memory in November of 2019. So just a few months after Jeffrey Epstein was found dead, Noel was charged along with the other guard who was with her for falsifying time records. And so the indictment accused both of them of looking at the Internet and falling asleep versus conducting mandated inmate counts and specifically checking on Epstein every 30 minutes.
T.J. Holmes
Yes, they were. They were charged for being terrible at their jobs and lying about it. Yes, they were. Now other people, those conspiracy theorists you speak of say, no, they weren't just being bad at their jobs. They were up to something that night. They were doing something else that night. But yeah, a lot of them lying and falsifying records. It was a pretty big, oh shit, we didn't do what you're supposed to do and now somebody's dead.
Amy Robach
Right. I think the, the word was when they found Jeffrey Epstein alive, the other guard said, oh boy, we're going to be in crazy trouble for this. And was desperately trying to resuscitate him. That is what Noel.
T.J. Holmes
They found him dead.
Amy Robach
Yes.
T.J. Holmes
So early. You said found him alive.
Amy Robach
Did I say that?
T.J. Holmes
Yeah, Isn't it?
Amy Robach
Wow. I meant to say found him dead.
T.J. Holmes
It's early. Wow.
Amy Robach
Brain is not functioning. Thank you for that check. Yes. Found him dead. Very, very much dead. Yes. But look, you add that all up. They, they lie and falsify what they were doing. They didn't do what they were supposed to do, which was to check on him. She's got a big cash deposit in her bank account. There's an orange blob of someone going up the stairs late at night when they weren't supposed to to the cell block. The camera on the cell block conveniently malfunctions and yeah, that all adds up to people quite. And the Google searches that together is enough to fuel the already there conspiracy theories.
T.J. Holmes
Oh, I'll give you that. That's. That's more than enough to fuel. A lot of people will add those things up and say that is your smoking gun. It's plain as day. A lot of people will look at it, but the evidence and look, this stuff has been investigated and studied and a lot of people won't believe the investigations, quite frankly, because they believe they are protecting someone. So I get it. This will continue. I don't know if we'll get the recording of her testimony if it happens.
Amy Robach
Yeah, I'm hoping we don't know. These depositions, this testimony, they all happen behind closed doors when the committee is doing the questioning. However, we have seen like in the Clintons and they asked for it. But we have seen recordings, we have seen transcripts, and hopefully we'll get some information because this particular woman is of high interest to a lot of people who have been following this case. They want to know what she has to say. They want to hear her answers to the many questions lawmakers will have for her. Not if she testifies, but when she testifies. And we will, of course, be following that for all of you, and thank you for listening to us. I'm Amy Roach alongside T.J. holmes. We have your morning run coming up real soon.

"There will never be that we know what happened because we can see it. ...There is no way to confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that he died by suicide or that no one went into his jail cell. We don't know because the camera wasn't working."

Amy and T.J.’s tone is skeptical, candid, and slightly irreverent, especially regarding the constant swirl of conspiracy theories. They balance discussing real investigative leads with acknowledgment of the story’s near-mythical status in the public imagination.
For listeners seeking clarity, this episode collates the lingering mysteries—money, surveillance failures, last-minute legal drama, and internet-fueled suspicion—keeping the Epstein case alive in the public eye.
