Hey there folks. It is Thursday, February 5 and another development in the case of missing Nancy Guthrie. Her family is now pleading with kidnappers to call them and they're asking for proof of life. And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ Rose. This has taken some like, I'm sorry, I have never seen anything like this in real life. I have seen this play out in Hollywood movies. They are trying to negotiate with potential kidnappers out there for a ransom for their mother.

Yes. And they put this plea out on social media and it was surreal. It was so strange to see someone we know and we love in the center of something that yes, reads like a Hollywood script. It's hard to imagine this is actually happening, happening in real life. And they're, they're speaking to a would be potential kidnapper. As far as we know, as far as authorities have told us, we don't even know for sure. They don't even know for sure if there is an abductor holding their mom for ransom. There have been ransom notes but, but they haven't been authenticated or verified.

Let's be clear there. Nothing about this story has changed from the official standpoint of the police. They are not telling us that there is a kidnapper. They're not telling us that there is a ransom. They're not telling us that any of these notes are real. We don't know. And robes looking at this now 4 minute long video that the family put out, it seems like they don't really know either.

The thing that struck me because yes, they, yeah, they obviously have more information than we have. I would believe that the Guthrie family would be the only other group of people outside of law enforcement who actually know what's going on. So for them to decide and take this step to make this very emotional video, pleading with a kidnapper and speaking directly to their mom, that tells me that they have reason to believe it's possible or even likely that that is a scenario that's playing out and somebody.

Is potentially watching and listening. So this did happen last night. It went out 4 minute long video on social media. I believe it was on Instagram that they released this. But this was Savannah Guthrie sitting, sitting in the center, flanked by her brother and her sister. She did most of the speaking, but it was a prepared statement that the family did have. Now, Robes, she started the video and I was wondering what you thought of it as well, not just making a plea, but telling us a little something about her, like describing her and how clever she is and how spunky she is. That seemed intentional. It's the first thing they did in the video.

Yeah, it's. Intentional is the right word. Because what it seems like they were doing, literally basing this. Is this off of movies I've watched. But, yeah, they're humanizing their mom. So the strategy or the tactic I imagine would be that whoever is holding her, they want to appeal to the human side of them and say, this is our mother. This is the person that we love. And she's spunky and she's clever. She loves fun and adventure. She's a devoted friend, full of kindness and knowledge. They're. They're really trying to appeal. I think they're not trying to tell us, the public, how great their mom is. It seemed as though they were speaking to whoever they think may be holding her captive.

And Robes, the. I guess the. The key here, the thing that jumped out because we were watching the video kind of in real time almost when it was starting to make news and didn't get through all of it initially, you see the emotional pleas and then you get a couple of minutes into and you go, oh, wait, they're actually talking to the kidnappers. So we'll tell you now exactly what Savannah Guthrie did say. She did mention, of course, her mom is 84 and talked about the health issues. And she's fragile. Says she lives in constant PA pain and is without her medicine and she needs it to not suffer. I thought that was a very. A powerful line to say it's not just about her health. She's wildly uncomfortable. Please, you're torturing her.

I got chills even hearing you reread what Savannah said. She said, yeah, she's without any medicine. She needs it to Survive. She needs it not to suffer. That was very, very powerful.

But she went on and this was the key. She is making an appeal directly to potential kidnappers out there. Robes. And again, the way she said it, and there was something very, very important here. When we talk about proof of life now, Robe, she acknowledged where we are in the world these days, that images that voices even can be replicated can be manipulated to where she is saying, no, no, you're going to have to take an extra step to prove to us that you have our mother before we get involved in any kind of conversation. That almost suggested to me, Robes, that they don't put too much credence in these ransom notes right now.

Yeah. So here is what Savannah said to any would be kidnappers out there. We too have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us. That was stunning.

So she is the. The communication at this point, Robes is one way from the Guthries to the potential kidnappers. It doesn't sound like they feel like they have heard from the potential kidnappers at this point.

And I would think that this would all have been. I mean, obviously the family gets to do what they want to do, but they're in and working in tandem with the police. Obviously, they want to get to the bottom of whatever has happened. So I would imagine the police would have signed off on this or they would have said, you know what, give it a try. It can't hurt. I'm thinking that police had to have signed off on this. So given all they know, it's interesting. This is the tactic they are now taking four days into her disappearance.

Yeah, I think that's probably fair. They would have cleared this. Of course, the family can do what they want to do, but the police said, we think this would hurt if you did it. I think they would listen. So, yes. Do you think that this is a part that they think this is a good investigative tool right now? This is a bizarre. Where is this woman, Robes? If she is alive, she has to be kept somewhere housed and cared for for now, five plus days. Where is she? No sign of a car that drove out. No sign of anybody walking. Where is Nancy Guthrie? Robes, in your mind, you don't want it to go to the wrong place or a dark place, but she has to. If she's alive, someone is caring for her in a facility. They have to be. And so where is she held?

Yeah, this is, this is so. I just feel sick to my stomach because we all know the longer this goes on, the more desperate this family becomes and the more concerned they are about the status of their mom. And we heard Savannah and Annie, actually her sister, speak directly to their mom, hoping that she was watching or somehow gets to see their. Or hear their words. But Savannah said this to her mom and, and she said this through tears. She was very emotional. She said, mommy, if you are hearing this, you are a strong woman. You are God's precious daughter. Nancy, we believe and know that even in this valley, he is with you. Everyone is looking for you, Mommy. We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again. We speak to you every moment and we will pray without ceasing. And we rejoice in advance the day we hold you in our arms again.

This is. I mean this is torturous for this family. It's only you can imagine. But Ro, where it's. This is. It's a mystery beyond. Babe. This makes no sense synth at all. So there was not an official press briefing yesterday, but the sheriff out there had to speak yesterday, had to put out a statement because robes the story we talk about because there's not a lot of official information coming out. People are filling the void. I say people, look, we're in a 24 hour news cycle that now you put online journalists. I mean it's just a constant. Everybody's looking for new information. There's not any. So people are filling the voids. And rogue. This happened yesterday with words starting to circulate. At least a journalist had gone out and said that they had a source saying who the suspect the prime suspect was. And the sheriff had to address that.

Yes, and we should point out a notable three decades long journalist. She's an independent journalist now. Ashley Banfield is the one who went on her podcast saying that she had a source from a high level suggesting that Savannah Guthrie's brother in law, her sister Annie's husband, may be could be a prime suspect. And as you imagine, the Internet went wild with that. So much so that the sheriff's department had to put together or come out with a statement, despite saying they didn't want to talk to the media unless they had any new developments. But they came out and said, this just isn't true. We have no suspects, we have no persons of Interest right now. So they completely shot down Ashley Banfield's reporting.

And again, that's. He has. This is the second or third time he has had to respond directly to something that got going in the media that he didn't put out. But rogue, you couple that now with what we saw at two different locations yesterday and there was increased police activity. What that means, I don't know. But at two homes, one of them they told was a closed scene that they were done with and apparently not.

Yes. If you were watching television last night, any news channel, you could see the reporters that were live outside all night last night because it was a dramatic scene. Suddenly where it was quiet, the police tape had come down. Yes. Police had said they had returned the house back over to the Guthrie family suddenly. Now crime scene tape is back up. Investigators are out there combing inside and outside Nancy Guthrie's home, but also Annie Guthrie's home as well. So people were pointing to that as well. And look, I thought it was really notable because we saw Annie sitting next to Savannah. They obviously know what's being said. They obviously have heard or read some of these reports. And she was there and she spoke as well to camera, talking to her mom. And I think that was significant as well. I think that was probably also from a. I would think from a public relations standpoint, a way to subtly combat some of these headlines out there suggesting that Savannah's sister or at least her husband could possibly be involved.

I mean, it makes sense for the siblings to be there whether they're trying to combat anything publicly or not. That's, I mean, I guess on the outside those conversations are going on. On the inside, it's probably just the family trying to get the mama home. That's probably possibly that's all there is. The sheriff did address talking about the searches that are happening out there. Didn't directly. He wasn't just addressing someone, but just said on X that they are conducting follow up at the Guthrie home and in the neighborhood. He put that out as kind of a heads up to the media that parking is limited and we're going to have to change where you guys are parked because it's so crowded over here we might have to close the street. So that's happening out there. But we are expecting some things to happen today in this case in particular and at a particular time. Also, we heard from the president about what he is offering the Guthrie family.

All right. We continue here on Amy and TJ on this Thursday, February 5th. Following up, there's a development it seems every few hours, but certainly some overnight developments here. Hearing from the Guthrie family, the siblings putting out a four minute video on social media, pleading with potential kidnappers to please call them and give us proof of life that our dear Nancy Guthrie, our mama, as I said, is still alive. Robes. We haven't heard from officially, at least from the sheriff out there since Tuesday. And we thought it was peculiar. On Tuesday he said, I'll talk to you on Thursday.

Yeah. And we didn't know what to make of that. And some folks have said, hey, who are much more attuned to how law enforcement works. That was actually a good sign. That means they had gotten so many leads, they were so busy. There was no they needed to put all of their effort and all of their focus into following up these leads. And he did say that in that press conference that thank you. We have gotten a significant amount of leads, a significant amount of tips. They have to go through certainly any sort of technology that's been submitted to them from any of those neighbors, ring cameras or door cameras or surveillance videos. And so they have a lot of work to do. And so a lot of folks who saw this said, hey, that is a good sign. That means this investigation is heating up, is revving up, and they need to focus until they can give you an update. It seemed to us like, wait, what? This is an urgent situation. You're not going to give us a daily update. But perhaps it just speaks to the amount of work that is in front of these detectives trying to find her.

It just didn't speak to the urgency. They told us that we had. I mean, to think, I mean, when this first happened, we were told we don't have two days to even find her.

We have 24 hours is what they told us because of the medication that Nancy Guthrie needs daily in order to keep her healthy and alive.

So we also heard from the president. I mean, he was asked about it in a. He was taking questions of the White House a couple of days ago. They did follow up yesterday. The White House saying he spoke to Savannah Guthrie, but the president put out a statement on truth Social as well, explaining now he's, he's putting the United States government behind this search.

Yes, he said, I spoke with Savannah Guthrie and let her know that I am directing all. And he put that in caps. All federal law enforcement to be at the families and local law enforcement's complete disposal immediately. We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely.
