Hey, guys, what's going on? Andy Elliott. I'm here with my boy Austin. Austin owns a badass moving company, by the way, this guy's disrupting the market. I don't care what you do. This is a video that you don't want to miss. And I'm going to be sharing with you how how Austin physically is a moving company, killing it, scaling, growing really fast, and who has done everything differently than all the other moving companies in the world. He's went against the grain. I ask people time like, dude, listen, if you're just like everyone else, then you're not going to stand out. You're not going to be different, you're not going to become anybody. You're not going to die a legend. You're not going to build anything that's valuable in this world. And so scarcity creates value. And he's built something very, very scarce, by the way. In any industry, in any industry, you can do what he's doing. Okay? But I want to tell you how he's doing it in the moving space. Now, I want to tell you this. Number one, Austin is sick and tired of freaking moving companies that go and hire. And by the way, I'm not. This is nothing against a felon or anything like that, but people that have multiple felons, they haven't been vetted, they get out of jail, which, by the way, I have nothing wrong with someone getting out of jail and starting their life. Somebody's got to get a good job. But they put them into these moving companies because most of the time they'll just hire anybody. So go on. They're roofing, they go into moving. And these people don't care. A lot of them don't care. And so they hire the cheapest, right? So they get the cheapest labor, so they make the most money, and then they go out and they move other people's stuff. These people aren't around for but a week or two, and then they quit. And there's turnover all the time. There's stuff getting stolen, stuff getting broken in moving companies. People are going home into a house where it's very stressful for people when they're moving and there's people breaking stuff, leaving a mess, not being respectful. You're in someone else's home and, you know, I'm telling you, dude, it is a big, big problem. But you know what the big problem is? People hate freaking moving. They get hurt. It causes fights. It's stressful. You break stuff. I mean, honestly, at the end of the Day. It's one of the most stressful things. So what do we want to do? We want to pay someone else to take care of that, but no one is a pro or professional. This guy built the biggest pro elite system moving team I've ever seen in my life. So, Austin, good job. And by the way, like, I'm giving him a big plug here because he's the best. Really quick, what made you do it different? Everyone else? Because I've seen your team, I've seen your culture. I see how you and your wife roll. Why. Why do you do it different? And why does it seem like all these people that are in these moving companies, no disrespect to you, if you're watching this and you're doing what Austin's doing, but they truly don't care. They're out drinking, they're running around, they're partying. It seems like, you know, I'm saying, it seems like they don't care. And then here you got this edge, and it's like you have these standards, and you, like, demand human excellence not only from yourself, but also in your company.
B
Yeah, I mean, well, I mean, we've really identified what you're doing with your team, and we've aligned ourselves with that. And it's like staying on the path. And. And it is the path of least resistance. You're not going off the trail, doing the partying. You're staying focused day in, day out, doing the boring things, hitting the gym, focus on mental growth, physical growth, staying in shape, training every day, consistently every single day, and just doing the simple things the right way. And that's really what we do.
A
Talk about your culture, first of all, like, bringing your team together. How do they stay close? What are some things? Share some of the things that you're doing in your moving company with your team.
B
Yeah, I mean, this is a. A great, you know, implementation we just did. I mean, every first Thursday of the month, we're out cooking breakfast with the team. We got this flat top stove. We're doing eggs, bacon, pancakes. We had Jay cooking the other day, and then, you know, we just had one this last Thursday. My wife Lauren and our ops manager, Nate are out there and we're just, you know, giving back to the team. Like, this is the backbone of your business. Are the people in the front lines. And I see that everyone. I mean, it's really easy to look at, like, just sales. Just sales. But there's. There's the structure of, you know, the core of the company, too, is everyone in the front line. So shout out to you guys, by the way, out there on the Centro team. Let's go.
A
Plus, a lot of people say how many of the times they've told you, don't get close to your team. Don't get close to your people. Your job's to run a business, right?
B
Oh, yeah.
A
Okay. So how do you feel about that?
B
So, I mean, I. It's really, you know, like, going back to watching your team, how you do it. It's like, you know, bringing in, like, getting closer with my team more so bringing them into our hall, bringing them in, going to lunch, doing these things. And it's not like, I mean, we're not. There was a point in time, back in my early business days, like, I was doing the party things, I was drinking, doing that, you know, and. And when I was able to level up myself, it just like the ripple went out and everyone around me started leveling up. I mean, as soon as we're with the group now in the, you know, in the. In the brotherhood, my team's out here traveling Arizona with us, and they're at the gym at 4:00am like, they're even up earlier than I am, you know, and it's my. And now I got to one up.
A
And you set the example, and now they're getting a little more crazy.
B
Time to go, you know, and it's inspiring myself to see as I elevate, my team is elevating as well. And they're with me for this ride, they're with me for the journey.
A
Well, I love that. And plus, I see the way that you treat your wife. I'm going to say something else, too. I feel like a lot of people, they don't have anyone to look up to. Like, what does a great relationship look like? Right? And so, like, talk about you and your wife for a minute. It's important because you guys are the business owners and you guys share that openly with your team. Like, how you guys are 100%.
B
I mean, you know, Lauren, there was a, you know, it's interesting. Like, there's so many people around in your. As a business owner, they're saying, oh, business and pleasure and don't, you know, work with family. Like, you know, when we came here, and I was in that mentality when I first came here in a way, but you spoke to me at the Titan retreat, and that's really why I brought Lauren to my first closer event here. And it just changed our life. Like, the way I've been able to align myself with Lauren. And we have this third brain now that I call it. It's like Lauren, me and this other mindset that we have together. And we're aligned on the same mission, on the same core values, on the same goal. And it's. The company has been growing faster than it ever has. And you know, it's just if anyone out there is questioning it, I highly motivate you to go take that leap of faith and put all effort like one way, don't look back, full throttle ahead.
A
Well, it's biblical. It says to become one.
B
That's right.
A
Right. And like people don't understand everything is biblical. Right? And, and then it says also the old is gone, the new has come. So you've killed off the old Jew. Lauren's even killed off the old. Her. Every time I see her, she's a different person. Right? So I think another reason why, and I want you guys to understand this, right? In the moving industry, right? Self development, working on yourself, it's, it's not really a real popular topic, okay? Working hard, grinding, getting stuff done, maybe marketing, getting leads, all those things are popular. But self development, like, dude, like Tony Robbins mentor Jim Rohn said, don't wish it was easier, wish you were better. He's like, don't work harder on your job, work harder on you. He's like, you know, working hard will I guess make you a living. Working on yourself will give you a fortune. It's crazy when you take care of yourself, how you can actually take care of other people. And so like you as a leader in your company, like you're teaching all these guys and all these gals and number one that hey, we're not just a company, we're a family. You know, I told you, like, you're not just in the moving industry, dude, you're a move movement maker. Like, you're literally changing the way that moving is done. And the competition, they're not going to like you. The reason why is because when you say these high standards and you say do this and take care of people and all this, they're like, come on man, we're just a moving company. You're like, come on, dude, people are paying us for a service and I promise you we're going to over deliver. We're going to blow their minds. We're going to ruin the value of money for them. And I love that, man. You know, and that's the reason why you guys are growing too also. Repeat referral, you guys are gonna be moving into other states here very soon. And something that you said, and I want to cover this real quick, you said that you had to kill off some of the old relationships. You said that, you know, there's some people now that when you've made some decisions to change and you know, and you've, I'm gonna say you've grown. People, you know, some people always say losers say you changed, winners say you've grown. Because when you change, that means you've grown, which is the whole point. Everybody is goals to grow, but when you go to grow, it's like some of those people that you had those old conversations with, like you guys, you guys don't get along anymore. You can't have the same conversations anymore. Right. You know, hey, let's go have a beer. And you're like, I don't want to have a beer. I want to, you know, spend time with my family, you know, or I want to work on my dreams, you know, or I want to spend some time on self development. Right. And, and so, and so how have you taken that? You said it was difficult for a little bit. Right. And you had to go through that journey. So anybody watching this right now and you decide to make a decision, it gets harder before it get great. Because killing off old bad habits and unlearning, you know, old, old, you know, changing rituals, habits, routines. I mean, dude, that's really how people get successful. Right? So, so talk about some of those difficulties for a sec.
B
So I, I think like the first one you notice is going to be your close friends, right? They feel a little uncomfortable that you're changing without them, you're growing without them. And, and that's what's most interesting. Like that's going to be the hardest wall and then the next wall is your family. And your family is going to say you're obsessed. Like I'm already, they know I'm already obsessed and I love what I do and the people that I'm around. But then they're like you're, you're obsessed with this new thing that's like shiny and it's not shiny. Like this is the new me and I'm obsessed with the new me. And once you know, and, and you really have to prove it to yourself and be so sold on that, then everyone else will believe it.
A
Yeah. It's a non negotiable for you, Right.
B
If you can't sell yourself on than 2.0, 3.0 version of you, then no one else is going to believe you.
A
Yeah. And by the way, there was friction right?
B
Yeah, there still is.
A
Yeah, right. I always say when you change, there will always be friction. Okay? There's always resistance. And by the way, even from yourself, like internally, like the old you wants to come out back out and want you to be comfortable, you know, it wants you to say, hey man, you don't have to go do this. Dude, come on, man. You know I'm saying this isn't who we are. You know what I'm saying? You don't have nothing to prove to nobody. Then you know, your buddies are like, dude, who are you, man? We grew up together. I know how you are, man. I don't know who you're trying to pretend like you are, but this isn't you, dude. That's so crazy, man. So anyways, the biggest thing is, is that Austin has literally in the moving industry created like a coaching like self development team, right, who moves. And so when they get on the phone calls and they talk to clients, they love what they do. They know they're fixing a massive hole in the industry. They literally despise and hate these other mo companies that treat people like crap and do a bad job. And they're literally calling out all war on the amateurs. And you guys are going pro and you're going elite. And you love, look at his smile. He loves that shit, right? He stirred up. He's sick in the head. He, he loves to win. And it's not about money. What it's about is creating impact, dude. When somebody makes a decision to spend, you know, anywhere between 2,000 up to even $20,000, depends on how big a move is to remove all the stress, trust that someone else is going to do what they said they can do. They have this picture in their head of how this is going to go down. And either it's going to go down like they thought it was, which isn't over delivering, it'll go down worse than they thought it was, which is so disappointing. Or you blow them away and then they're just like, they're raging fans. And you guys are choosing to go the raging fan road, which is make sure you over deliver for everyone. And, and I love that, man. And that can only happen with people because you can have the trucks, you can have the right ads running, you can own Google where everybody, anytime somebody requests information on a mover, you can be the first one to pull up. You can do all that. But the people is what makes a difference. It's not the trucks, it's not the pricing. Dude, I'll pay more for a Better product, by the way. I don't buy a product. I don't buy a company. I buy people. That's the truth. You buy people, man. And so you've done such a good job as a leader as creating more leaders. And this is just the beginning of you guys blowing up.
B
It's just the beginning. You know, my team's out here. My team, my family, myself, we're getting 1% better each day. You can see it on the back of my shirt right now that I'm rocking. And you know, it's just the, the culture that we live is that we are here to self improve. And you better watch out. We might be coming to your neighborhood too.
A
They're coming to your neighborhood. Let's go. Listen, do me a favor. If somebody. Exactly where are you located?
B

A

On Instagram, yeah. Central coast moving. And if anyone.

Host: Andy Elliott
Guest: Austin, Owner of Central Coast Moving
In this episode, Andy Elliott welcomes Austin, the innovative leader behind Central Coast Moving, one of the nation's fastest-growing moving companies. Andy highlights Austin's unique approach to transforming the traditionally chaotic and stressful moving industry. He emphasizes Austin's ability to stand out by defying conventional practices, stating, "If you're just like everyone else, then you're not going to stand out..." (00:15).
Andy delves into the prevalent issues plaguing the moving sector, such as hiring unvetted labor, high employee turnover, theft, and property damage. He criticizes the industry's tendency to prioritize cost-cutting over quality, leading to unreliable services that leave customers stressed and dissatisfied. Andy points out, "People hate freaking moving... It causes fights. You break stuff... It's one of the most stressful things." (00:45)
Austin responds by outlining his strategy to combat these industry woes. He emphasizes consistency and dedication, saying, "staying focused day in, day out, doing the boring things, hitting the gym, focus on mental growth, physical growth, staying in shape, training every day" (02:43). This disciplined approach enables Central Coast Moving to maintain high standards and reduce the common issues associated with moving services.
A significant portion of the discussion centers on company culture. Austin shares his practice of monthly team breakfasts, where the team gathers to cook and bond, fostering a sense of community and appreciation. He explains, "every first Thursday of the month, we're out cooking breakfast with the team... giving back to the team. Like, this is the backbone of your business." (03:18). This initiative not only strengthens team cohesion but also underscores the importance of valuing front-line employees.
Andy and Austin explore the intertwining of personal development with business success. Austin attributes his company's rapid growth to his commitment to self-improvement and encouraging his team to do the same. He elaborates, "we are here to self improve. And you better watch out. We might be coming to your neighborhood too." (11:45). This philosophy aligns with Andy's own beliefs on self-development, echoing the sentiment, "Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better."
The conversation shifts to the personal challenges Austin faced while transforming his business and himself. He discusses the difficult process of distancing from old habits and relationships that didn't support his growth. Austin shares, "If you can't sell yourself on the 2.0, 3.0 version of you, then no one else is going to believe you." (09:19). Both hosts acknowledge the inherent friction in change, emphasizing resilience and unwavering commitment to long-term goals.
Austin highlights that his motivation transcends financial gain. The true reward lies in creating a positive impact on customers by delivering exceptional service. He states, "It's not about money. What it's about is creating impact... over deliver for everyone." (10:30). This customer-centric approach has garnered Central Coast Moving a loyal client base and stellar reputation.
Looking ahead, Austin expresses optimism about the future, with plans to expand Central Coast Moving to new states.
