When I first considered taking a break from alcohol, my biggest fear wasn't missing the drink. It was losing myself.Who would I be without alcohol? Would I still be fun? Would people still like me? Would I still be confident enough to walk into a room, dance at weddings, connect with people, and feel like I belonged?Looking back, I realise those fears had very little to do with alcohol and everything to do with identity. In this episode, I explore one of the biggest hidden challenges of going alcohol-free: rediscovering who you really are underneath the persona alcohol creates. I share my own experience, the stories I told myself for years, and why I now believe that finding your authentic self is one of the greatest gifts of this entire journey. What You'll Learn:Why fear of losing your identity keeps so many people stuckHow alcohol creates a version of ourselves that isn't truly authenticThe difference between confidence and alcohol-fuelled confidenceWhy authenticity is one of the greatest gifts of alcohol-free livingHow removing alcohol helps you reconnect with who you really areTimestamps:00:00 – 04:00 My biggest fear about going alcohol-free04:00 – 08:00 The alcohol persona and losing touch with your authentic self08:00 – 12:00 Why we fear being judged, rejected, or left behind12:00 – 17:00 The power of showing up as the real you17:00 – End The treasure waiting on the other side of alcohol-free livingGoing Dry Documentary PremiereJoin us for the first public screening of Going Dry at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival on 8th July 2026 at Cinema Nova, Melbourne. Breaking news.My Dryy adventure is over. After more than four incredible years, the Dryy app and community has come to an end. But this isn't a story about failure. It's a story about impact, courage, learning, and what happens when you dare to take a swing at something that matters. In this episode, I reflect on the journey that Matt Pink and I embarked on together, helping tens of thousands of people transform their relationship with alcohol through the Dryy community.I share why I'm incredibly proud of what we built, the lessons I've learned from entrepreneurship, and why this ending feels more like a beginning. Most importantly, I explore one of the greatest gifts of alcohol-free living: becoming a dreamer of the day. The kind of person who stops talking about change and starts creating it.Because when alcohol is no longer stealing your time, energy, confidence, and momentum, extraordinary things start to happen. What You'll Learn:Why the end of Dryy is something I'm celebrating, not mourningThe lessons entrepreneurship teaches us about growth and resilienceWhy alcohol can quietly become a killer of dreams and ambitionThe difference between talking about change and taking actionHow becoming alcohol-free helps you become a "dreamer of the day"Timestamps:00:00 – 03:00 The end of Dryy and how it all began03:00 – 06:00 What we achieved and why I'm so proud of the journey06:00 – 09:00 What's next for me and the alcohol-free movement09:00 – 13:00 Why alcohol quietly steals dreams, confidence, and momentum13:00 – End Becoming a dreamer of the day and creating your best lifeIf you’re curious about becoming a coach, I run a free live workshop where I’ll show you how this all works and how you can turn it into something meaningful and purposeful. What if I told you that almost every reason people drink alcohol is actually created by alcohol itself?Stress. Anxiety. Escapism. Boredom. Even the need to relax. In this episode, I unpack what I call The Doom Loop. A powerful catch-22 that keeps millions of people stuck in an endless cycle where alcohol appears to be the solution, while secretly being the cause of the problem.Once you see it, you can't unsee it.This is one of the most important concepts I've ever shared because understanding the doom loop changes everything. What You'll Learn:Why alcohol creates many of the problems it claims to solveThe science behind stress, sleep, and the alcohol anxiety cycleHow the "doom loop" keeps people trapped in unwanted habitsWhy relaxation through alcohol is an illusionHow to break the cycle and build healthier ways to relax and unwindTimestamps:00:00 – 04:00 What is the doom loop and why it matters04:00 – 08:00 The catch-22 that keeps drinkers stuck08:00 – 12:00 How alcohol creates stress while pretending to relieve it12:00 – 16:00 The hidden loops of anxiety, escapism, and boredom16:00 – End Breaking free from the doom loop for goodIf you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/).If you’re curious about becoming a coach, I run a free live workshop where I’ll show you how this all works and how you can turn it into something meaningful and purposeful. This episode was sparked by something I recently came across that genuinely frustrated me.Not because it was provocative, but because it touched on a belief about alcohol that I think so many of us have accepted without ever stopping to question. The idea got under my skin enough that I felt compelled to unpack it properly.Because when I look back at my own drinking career, I don't see alcohol making me a better version of myself. I see something very different. This is a powerful conversation about identity, authenticity, and becoming the person you were always meant to be. Ibiza. No alcohol. For most people, those two things simply do not belong in the same sentence. But that’s exactly what happened on our recent reinvention retreat, where a group of complete strangers came together in Ibiza without a drop of alcohol. And honestly? It turned into one of the most powerful, connected, joyful experiences I’ve ever been part of.In this episode, I unpack what really happens when people remove alcohol from social situations, retreats, holidays, and connection. Because what I witnessed in Ibiza completely challenged the old belief that alcohol creates fun.I actually think the opposite is true. This episode is about authenticity, connection, energy, and what becomes possible when people stop numbing themselves and start showing up fully as who they really are. What you’ll learn:Why alcohol-free environments create deeper connection and authentic relationshipsWhat really happens when strangers meet without alcohol involvedHow alcohol often creates fake confidence and fake connectionWhy alcohol-free retreats unlock more joy, energy, and transformationThe hidden ways alcohol steals momentum, presence, and real funTimestamps:00:00 – 03:00 Graduation celebrations and heading to Ibiza03:00 – 05:00 My old relationship with Ibiza and alcohol05:00 – 08:00 What happens when strangers connect without drinking08:00 – 11:00 How alcohol would have changed the entire retreat dynamic11:00 – End Why alcohol-free connection is more powerful than everIf you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/).If you’re curious about becoming a coach, I run a free live workshop where I’ll show you how this all works and how you can turn it into something meaningful and purposeful. A 17 year old completely destroyed me at a party recently.I told him I hadn’t had a drink for 12 years and he hit me with: “That’s really boring.”Then came the knockout punch: “I bet you’re fun at parties.”Honestly, it made me laugh. But once the dust settled, it got me thinking about just how deeply ingrained our cultural beliefs around alcohol really are. Before he’s even legally allowed to drink, he already believes alcohol equals fun and not drinking equals boring. So in this episode, I decided to properly challenge that idea once and for all.And spoiler alert… I think we’ve got this whole thing completely backwards. What you’ll learn:Why society teaches us that alcohol equals fun from a very young ageThe “bore-off” exercise that completely reframes drinkingHow alcohol quietly creates many of the things we find boring in lifeWhy alcohol-free living creates more energy, joy, confidence, and connectionHow to challenge the beliefs that keep you stuck in the drinking cycleTimestamps:00:00 – 03:00 Graduations, retreats, documentaries, and a huge week ahead03:00 – 05:00 The 17 year old who called me boring05:00 – 08:00 The “bore-off” and redefining what boring really means08:00 – 11:00 Why alcohol creates the very problems it pretends to solve11:00 – End Why alcohol-free living is actually the most exciting adventure of allIf you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/).If you’re curious about becoming a coach, I run a free live workshop where I’ll show you how this all works and how you can turn it into something meaningful and purposeful. In this episode, I share a powerful reminder of how to create lasting behavioral change without relying on the exhausting and unreliable tool of willpower. This conversation is for anyone on an alcohol-free adventure who has ever felt "cursed by the willpower gods" or frustrated by their inability to just "decide and change." This is not about grit or suffering through temptation. It is about understanding the "Willpower Free Method," identifying the love-hate relationship of ambivalence, and learning how to tip the scales so that living your best life becomes the easiest choice you can make. What you’ll learn in this episode:The truth about the Marshmallow Study and what it really means for your successWhy willpower is like a "metaphorical muscle" that runs out by the end of the dayThe fatal flaw in the willpower-only approach to quitting anythingHow "Ambivalence" (the love-hate relationship) creates the need for willpower in the first placeThe Story of the 3 Andys: How perspective shifts from age 25 to 45Why life is a "beliefs game" rather than a test of psychological endurancePractical steps to tip your internal scales to "all love" or "all hate" for effortless changeTimestamps00:00 – 02:00 Why we think we lack willpower (and why we're wrong) 02:00 – 04:30 Connecting with Sarah: The domino effect of positivity 04:30 – 07:30 The Marshmallow Study: Delaying gratification vs. facing temptation 07:30 – 11:30 The data on success and the "Cookie vs. Radish" willpower test 11:30 – 14:30 Why your willpower tanks are empty by evening 14:30 – 18:30 Life is a beliefs game: Lessons from the Stoics and NLP 18:30 – 21:00 Unlocking the code: How ambivalence drives your habits 21:00 – 23:00 The 3 Andys: Moving from conflict to the "Moonwalk" of freedom 23:00 – End Tipping the scales and the Willpower Free methodologyIf you have ever felt called to something more, or sensed that your current path is not fully using who you are, this episode is for you.If this episode resonated and you want to explore coaching further, here are a few ways to join me:If you want to train as a coach with me: Join us at Coach Business School. If you are already a qualified coach and want to build a sustainable coaching business: Join me inside Coach MBA.I would love to see you on the journey.Let’s do this.

In this episode, I dive into one of the biggest hidden barriers to success in both coaching and alcohol-free living: overthinking. So many people get stuck trying to figure everything out before they take action. They want the perfect plan, the perfect moment, the perfect version of themselves before they begin. But that’s not how growth works.I share why taking imperfect action is the real key to momentum, how overthinking keeps you stuck, and what you can do to break free from it starting today. If you’ve ever felt like you’re “thinking about it” more than actually doing it, this episode is for you. What you’ll learn:Why overthinking is one of the biggest blockers to progressHow perfectionism keeps you stuck and stops momentumThe power of taking action before you feel readyWhy clarity comes from doing, not thinkingSimple ways to build confidence through actionTimestamps:00:00 – 03:00 Why overthinking is keeping you stuck 03:00 – 06:00 The trap of perfection and waiting to feel ready 06:00 – 09:00 Why action creates clarity and confidence 09:00 – 12:00 Breaking the cycle of hesitation and doubt 12:00 – End Taking action and building momentum in your lifeIf you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/).If you’re curious about becoming a coach, I run a free live workshop where I’ll show you how this all works and how you can turn it into something meaningful and purposeful. In this episode, I share one of the most powerful stories ever told about personal transformation, the story of the two wolves. This simple idea has the power to completely reshape how you see your thoughts, your habits, and ultimately your life.I also connect this story to alcohol-free living, showing how what you focus on daily determines the quality of your life. In this episode, I tackle one of the biggest beliefs that keeps people stuck in the drinking cycle: the idea that alcohol is fun. It’s a story most of us have told ourselves for years, but is it actually true?I break this down from every angle, exploring how our brains create and reinforce this belief, even when our lived experience tells a very different story. This is about getting honest, challenging the narrative, and seeing alcohol for what it really is.Once you start to question the idea that drinking equals fun, everything begins to shift. Because when that belief falls apart, so does the hold alcohol has over you.If you’ve ever felt torn between knowing alcohol isn’t serving you and still believing it’s “fun,” this episode will help you cut through the noise and see the truth clearly. What you’ll learn:Why “alcohol is fun” is one of the most powerful limiting beliefsHow confirmation bias keeps you stuck in old storiesThe truth about what drinking actually feels like (during and after)Why the “great night” story is often a cultural illusionHow to redefine real fun in a way that actually serves your lifeTimestamps:00:00 – 02:00 The big question: is drinking actually fun?02:00 – 05:00 How the “alcohol is fun” story is created and reinforced05:00 – 08:00 Challenging the belief and seeing the truth08:00 – 11:00 The “great night” illusion and cultural conditioning11:00 – End Redefining real fun and what actually makes life enjoyableIf you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/).If you’re curious about becoming a coach, I run a free live workshop where I’ll show you how this all works and how you can turn it into something meaningful and purposeful.
