Lyndal Henry is this month’s artist in the ARTSpace. Phill sits down with Lyndal to discuss the art of quilling and the pieces on display, as well as a sidetrack to discuss her time traveling in Nepal and how it influences her creative work. Lyndal also discusses her craft classes and how you can find more of her work. For the month of May you’ll find Lyndal’s intricate quilling at ART FM in the ARTspace, thanks to the support of Toi Foundation.

What if the most powerful art isn’t the finished piece, but the freedom to create it? This month on ARTspace: In Conversation, Taryn sits down with Franzi Maciej from Imagine Play Inspire, whose vibrant exhibition was created by tamariki during a joyful, open-ended community event. Together, they explore why process matters more than perfection, how creativity helps children, and why adults might need play just as much as kids do. From Franzi’s journey as a teacher across the world to her passion for curiosity-led art, this kōrero is uplifting, thoughtful, and a beautiful reminder that when we let go of “getting it right,” something magical can happen. For the month of April you can find the Imagine Play Inspire exhibition at ART FM in the ARTspace, thanks to the support of Toi Foundation.

Today Phill chats with Dominika Zielinska, the exhibiting artist for March 2026. She's displaying photographs taken during the 2010 edition of WOMAD - a moment in time that reflects her personal journey in photography. These photographs are on display for the first time in the ARTSpace - come and see them before the month ends!

What does it take to keep showing up to paint, week after week, for more than 40 years? In this episode of ArtSpace: In Conversation, Taryn Utiger sits down with artist Tony Rumball to talk about The Painters — a remarkable collective of artists who have been meeting weekly for nearly half a century. They chat about the exhibition itself, the discipline and friendship that has sustained the group for decades, and what it means to make art as part of a long, shared practice. Tony also reflects on his own life as an artist, and learning from the late, great Tom Kreisler. This conversation is a celebration of art, community, and the power of simply continuing to paint.

Karen Phillips is a local Taranaki artist who specialises in Mandela work. She absorbs herself in her art at her home in Bell Block and works also with special needs students at a variety of schools across the region. In this episode, Karen shares how she first started and her art journey to date.

Through My Veins They Run - is an intimate and evocative exhibition by emerging artist Donna Mann. Working in acrylics, Mann creates striking animal portraits that reflect her personal journey as a neurodivergent woman who has endured and survived challenging times. Donna's art is on display in our ARTspace gallery through December.

Once a month, Taryn Utiger grabs the mic and chats with the latest emerging artist featured in ARTspace, the ever-changing gallery tucked inside Access Radio Taranaki.
