Standing on an iron grate or placing a cup on the grate of the drip tray have certain practical things in common: On the one hand, the grille usually holds what is on it and keeps it from falling or going dangerously low, but on the other hand it still lets through what doesn't belong. With the coffee maker, you can place the cup and it will hold and excess water or milk will still flow out. When you stand on the grille, dirt from your shoes can fall into a pit and you still stand. These are the advantages. However, it is unpleasant when keys, small change or anything else important falls down and through the mesh. You might still see it, but you still can't grab it. So a supposedly safe stand can also harbour dangers. So it is crucial on which ground you stand. I wish you an extraordinary day!

Nowadays, for many people, a water bottle is as much a part of their everyday luggage as their keys or wallet. This means you can take care of your fluid balance at any time and drink when you want. Be it on the street, on public transport, at an event or during class. That was not the case 30 years ago. And as is often the case with such changes, one asks: is this a good or bad development. Some say that the consumption of food now no longer takes place at the table, but in many cases everywhere and on the go, and they don't think it's good. Others argue that it is healthy. There is the well-known Latin saying "Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis" - times change and we change in them." That is probably true, quite value-neutral. Some things we help to shape, others we have to take over. This is not easy for everyone. I wish all of them serenity for today. I wish you an extraordinary day!

I still remember buying vinyl records when I was a teenager. And when I was about 20, compact discs came along. This, of course, required a new player. A CD player. These were available for the stereo system - and there were even mobile ones for on the road. There was no comparison in size with today's MP3 player or smartphone, which today can hold many times the capacity of music compared to the past. So you had to invest in your own, new hardware, the device. And today, about 30 years later, these devices are almost antiques, collectors' items. So one can justifiably ask oneself: was this investment worthwhile, if the device is no longer the thing with which one listens to music today? There are many such moments in life when, after a short or long time, you ask yourself: was the investment worthwhile? Not only in material things. Also in relationships. What does it mean to be worthwhile? How do we measure it? How do we judge that? Perhaps a day to reflect on this - and to appreciate all that we have been allowed to experience - regardless of the investment. Each of these experiences has made us rich. I wish you an extraordinary day!

Telegraph I imagine that back then, when the telegraph was invented and it needed lines across the country and lots of masts had to be erected, that not everyone liked this - analogous to the debate today about wind turbines. Certainly, the situation back then is not comparable to today - we are under a certain pressure to produce the energy we need, which was not the case with the telegraph. But: the telegraph is not that old - and today all masts could be dismantled because we have better technologies. We are all beneficiaries of electric energy - but nobody wants to live near the production of it. It doesn't add up. I realize that sometimes we have very strange ideas about our needs and their costs. Our lifestyle, which we have become fond of, requires a lot of effort and costs a lot - are we aware of that? Are we grateful for it? Or are we even willing to do without sometimes? Maybe today is a day to think about how you can consume more consciously and gratefully - and maybe even less.I wish you an extraordinary day!

In our language, I always notice that compound terms are sometimes very original to funny and that the individual partial terms do not necessarily indicate the compound term. Examples: cheese-cake. Who doesn't think of a salty bite when they think of cheese and of sweets when with cake? Or: roof-top. What else could be topping a roof? But it's the combination that makes it. So individual words not only complement each other, but they create something new, something beyond their actual, original scope. I believe that this is also possible with us humans: depending on who we are with, things are possible in the combination that we ourselves would never have dared to dream. So I wish you for today that you can see, appreciate and exploit the potential that arises in community with others. I wish you an extraordinary day!

When I recently passed a bus stop, a father said to his very small child: The bus will be here in 6 minutes! No doubt he meant to express that it won't be long until the bus arrives. But I thought to myself: the little child probably has no idea of how much or what 6 is, nor what minutes mean. But it simply trusted the father's statement and was satisfied. In life, there are many situations in which we don't understand circumstances or things or even other people. In the end, we are totally dependent beings anyway, no matter how self-confident and well-insured we may be. Our lives are not in our hands. But to believe and know that there is a stable foundation that supports us in everything creates confidence and gives us serenity. Are you standing on this foundation with your life and have you already experienced how trustworthy it is? I wish you an extraordinary day!
