Keke Palmer
Every generation has that one girl group that becomes the soundtrack to your life. The group whose song gets you through your first crush, your first heartbreak, your first night out with your girls, and every messy, beautiful chapter in between. And for today's generation, that group is Flo. They got the vocals, they got the harmonies, they got the style. But more importantly, they built something you can't manufacture. Genuine sisterhood. In just a few short years, Georgia, Stella and Renee have become one of the most exciting voices in modern R and B. But this story is about more than music. It's about three young women building a global girl group without losing themselves, their friendship, or each other. Because coming into this industry as a black girl group meant they had to kick the door down. So today we're talking about ambition, sisterhood, success, and what it takes to create your own space when nobody's saving a seat for you. Because, baby, this is Keke Palmer. No matter what we doing in the car, just chilling pop on Amazon music, sit back and listen. Life, love, sex, science, Covering it all especially the bad. Cause money don't we fall no matter what it is we gonna make it make sense Nothing else will do but kick it with the homies and kings so grab you a drink and a snack, you enjoy and get into the vibe that only ones you know it's your girl.
Stella
This is.
Keke Palmer
This is Kiki.
Georgia
Baby.
Keke Palmer
This is Kiki Palma.
Georgia
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
And this is Flo. Come out here, girls. I'm so excited. I'm so excited to meet y' all and hang out with you.
Georgia
Girl, you look so good. That was, like, emotional.
Keke Palmer
Honestly.
Stella
Honestly, that was perfect.
Keke Palmer
You know, we had to give you guys your props. How are you? You guys look fabulous.
Renee
Thank you. So do you.
Georgia
Adorable.
Keke Palmer
So, Summer, you guys live in London full time, but you were just doing the out loud fest, and then you're gonna be doing some more stuff in la. So you're getting accustomed to the LA vibe.
Stella
We're definitely in LA more than at home. I don't know if my mattress is firm.
Keke Palmer
Do you guys feel like you'll be living in LA sometime soon?
Renee
Probably, like, beginning of next year.
Keke Palmer
Really? I know.
Renee
It's so close.
Keke Palmer
Oh, my gosh. What part do y' all know what type, what town?
Stella
Depends how much money we've got by then.
Keke Palmer
No, you ain't never lied. Cause LA is expensive. But you know who's more expensive? New York.
Georgia
New York.
Keke Palmer
She needs to get. It gets to a point, you know what I mean? It gets to. But I heard that London is very expensive. London's expensive.
Stella
I think more than la.
Keke Palmer
It is. So I think you'll get like a little break, you know, a little release.
Stella
Yeah.
Renee
Financial break.
Keke Palmer
A little financial break with la. I like that you guys are getting into the LA vibe. I know we're gonna be very happy to have you. I would love seeing y' all out of the town.
Renee
Yeah, I feel like we're more known there as well. Like we just feel more familiar with it.
Georgia
We have a better, like network of people there. Like people that we work with.
Keke Palmer
It's so interesting to hear that. I was so curious of how you guys feel, your fan base in relation to back home and in America. Because in the us, I mean, I don't know a lot about London. I don't get a lot of time there. But I know in the US we go up for you guys. Do you feel the same vibe back home?
Renee
Definitely. But I think because we don't spend a lot of time there, it's hard to feel that connection.
Keke Palmer
Yeah, yeah. So we always do a pre show pull up for our show, but obviously it's three of you girls hair. So I mean, we can just go one by 1. Stella, Georgia, Renee, and just figure out. So. So what's your zodiac sign?
Stella
Sag.
Keke Palmer
You're Sagittarius. Do you know your rising or your moon?
Stella
I think. I think one of them is a Taurus.
Keke Palmer
Oh, okay.
Stella
Which is interesting. Cause Tauruses sometimes get on your nerves a little bit.
Keke Palmer
Maybe they're a little bit you. Maybe, maybe. Maybe I'm like projecting.
Stella
And then one's a Leo, I think.
Keke Palmer
Okay, okay. So some fire, double fire going on.
Stella
What are you?
Georgia
She's fiery. I'm a Capricorn.
Keke Palmer
Oh, my gosh. That's my perfect match. I'm a Virgo. I live for a Capricorn. Very shady, but keeping it together. Very aloof, but still engaged. I love a Capricorn. What's your rising in your moon?
Georgia
No idea.
Keke Palmer
No idea.
Georgia
No idea.
Keke Palmer
What about you, Renee?
Renee
I'm a Libra.
Keke Palmer
Libra, okay. The aesthetic is aesthetic.
Renee
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
But like, I can always count on a Libra for this. Do you know your rising or your moon?
Renee
I don't. I wouldn't know though.
Keke Palmer
Is astrology huge in London?
Renee
Not as much as in America.
Stella
Over here, it's like the first thing people ask.
Keke Palmer
It's crazy.
Stella
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
What are we doing the most?
Georgia
It's. Hi, how are you? What's your stars now? Literally.
Stella
Literally.
Keke Palmer
What is Yalls love language. Do you know, like a physical. Are you the type of Person that likes to touch. Are you the type of person that likes to. Acts of service.
Renee
Acts of service and words of affirmation.
Keke Palmer
Oh, come on. You better affirm me.
Georgia
Yes, please.
Keke Palmer
Yes. What about you, Dordre?
Georgia
I would say acts of service.
Keke Palmer
Acts of service. Okay. It's giving. Let me cater to you.
Georgia
Yes. Wait, wait.
Stella
Is it what you like to receive?
Keke Palmer
Oh, it's what you like to receive. Oh, that was also what you like to receive? Yeah, it can be.
Georgia
I was saying for receiving.
Keke Palmer
For receiving, for giving. What do you think you give most?
Renee
Mm.
Georgia
She just received this period.
Keke Palmer
Okay. I show up. This is the ticket. You're welcome. What about you, Stella?
Stella
Physical touch.
Keke Palmer
Okay.
Stella
Which is weird cause, like, you don't
Georgia
like that I don't touch.
Stella
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
That's crazy. You want to touch, but you don't want to be touched.
Georgia
When the right person.
Renee
Yeah.
Stella
And poly time.
Keke Palmer
Poly? What is this? I thought you said in poly time. I said now. What's poly time? I'm into a little Pauly time, too. Pauly time. Yeah. Quality time. I do love sharing the same space, even if we're on our phone. Yes. Like, be next to me and be human besides.
Stella
Exactly.
Keke Palmer
And let that be that.
Georgia
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
What's a question you wish you were asked more in interviews?
Stella
Oh, my gosh.
Keke Palmer
You have the cutest chin that I've literally ever seen.
Georgia
Thank you. I don't know. I feel like we only know when it happens.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Georgia
Get that question and we'll actually, like, say, wow, thank you. This is such a good question. Thank you.
Stella
But does anything like.
Keke Palmer
Well, I know when I was doing my research, I was like, I can't ask him how the group got together. Oh, thank you. I didn't want to bring y' all through it. I was like, I can tell they don't want to be asked that.
Stella
You don't know how many times he got.
Keke Palmer
I heard it too many times. Yeah, we together. We got together. We met. We like each other. Yes, yes, yes. So I did take that note. Okay. Who is someone that you've met that made you feel starstruck?
Stella
Ooh, Teddy Rowland.
Georgia
Oh, come on.
Keke Palmer
Kelly Rowland.
Renee
Yes.
Stella
I hope I do not.
Keke Palmer
They're gonna get on me about constantly slipping into yalls accidents.
Georgia
That's fine.
Renee
Cause you're good.
Keke Palmer
This just makes me happy. I feel like I'm one of the girls.
Renee
Yes, you are one of the girls.
Keke Palmer
So Kelly Rowland. We love Kelly. Kelly. Hands down.
Stella
Kelly.
Georgia
Brandy Smith.
Keke Palmer
Brandi Perry.
Georgia
I mean, of course, Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey just met Stevie Wonder.
Keke Palmer
Oh, my God.
Stella
Oh, my God.
Georgia
And that was definitely like. That was quite. I don't know. It was quite different in a way. Like, we went to his studio, so it felt very. It felt very real but surreal.
Renee
Yeah.
Georgia
I feel like a lot of people, like, we've. It's kind of felt a bit more like, casual. Not casual.
Stella
Intimate.
Georgia
Yeah. With him, it felt intimate, but sometimes it will be, like, at an event. So there's kind of like, this pressure. It's just like, hi, we love you. Bye. But this really felt like I was like. We was, like, sitting down, tapping a little shower. It was like, oh, my God, this thing is.
Keke Palmer
And it honestly feel like it really matches to me. Like, I could imagine y' all doing some collaboration with Stevie. Cause I think that's one of the things people love so much about you guys, too, as a girl group is you're really singing. Y' all be into the harmonies. Y' all gonna give a whole moment and arrangement. And so I would love to see more with y' all in this Stevie vibe. What kind of bag can we get in?
Renee
Same with Stevie, definitely. Just the classic, like, true music.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Georgia
A song.
Keke Palmer
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. A full one with the bridge. Maybe they cut the bridges out lately. Cause they trying to get them streams up anyway. Okay, so we already know how you guys got together as a girl group, but maybe I can just say, like, in the beginning, right before you made this transition, what was happening in your life at that time? Like, were you kind of figuring out what you wanted to do? Did you know you were gonna be doing music full time? Like, who were you before you guys became Flo?
Stella
I mean, we were studying music in college, so. College? That's like 17, 18 years old.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Stella
And I think it was the last year of me and Georgia being in college. Right. That we got in the group, and Renee was in her first year. So we were. We knew what we wanted to do.
Renee
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
So it was.
Stella
We didn't really have that, like, awkward time after school where we were like,
Keke Palmer
that was just like, how am I going to make this work? How are we going to get it together?
Stella
Yeah.
Georgia
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
Who do you credit for your development? Aside from. Obviously each other.
Stella
Right.
Renee
But, like, we definitely had access to, like, studio time via our label island, which definitely made the journey easier because we didn't really have to worry about paying for it.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Renee
So that from direction for that.
Keke Palmer
What about those early nights?
Stella
Till later.
Keke Palmer
Till later. Suddenly I have a 500 tour date. Like, what the hell? So who were some of Those early producers that you guys worked with that you feel like, really helped to develop you guys sound.
Georgia
Emini K. Emini K. For sure. Emani K. Emini K. Come on.
Renee
Yes.
Georgia
He's literally taught us most of what we know when it comes to writing songs and, like, what we want to hear in production. It was a lot of him, like, Jamal.
Renee
Jamal Woon, like, a lot of UK collaborators.
Keke Palmer
Oh, I love that. Shout out to. I need to take my ass up there. Come on. Again.
Stella
Yes.
Georgia
Oh, my God. You did. Oh, my God.
Stella
That would be amazing.
Renee
Yes.
Keke Palmer
So you guys immediately knew. Cause, I mean, look, when you're on your road to music, whether it's you yourself or you with the group, you know, or, you know, when it's not the right situation for sure, what lets you know that this was a combination that you could really get with, that you felt like, no, no. Like, I think. I think this is going to be real for us. Like, we can actually be a group, definitely each other.
Renee
Like, I felt really comfortable with the vision of flow because I feel like we are the right type of people to be in a group together.
Georgia
Yeah.
Stella
Yeah. Also, like, our lives were not. We. We grew up the same way and kind of like, we all were raised by single mums. Come on. So, like, we've seen the hard work. We have the ambition. And so that definitely helped us to be like, okay, we're like sisters and only children. No, can't sing
Keke Palmer
now. I know your mom's a. She an Olympian?
Georgia
Yes, she used to be. Well, she's. I guess you're always called an Olympian.
Keke Palmer
Yeah, once you're an Olympian, you're an Olympian. So I'm sure you learned a lot about discipline. For sure. And determination from her.
Georgia
She could have helped me a little bit more, but definitely her, like, message was, like, I didn't need to be, like, traditional in terms of education because, like, she didn't do that. And. But if I found something that was my passion, like, she did, like, athletics was her passion, then you make it a career, but, like, you have to make it a career and you just
Keke Palmer
gotta go with the flow. When you guys say chemistry, because you were talking about how you guys fit, I mean, who are you guys to each other in the group, right? Like, it's like, who's the peacemaker? Who's the comic relief? Who's the one that. Let's go outside. Let's get into the sound. Like, what role do y' all play? Or do y' all switch it up? You know, at any given Time.
Renee
It really does. Like, it depends on cycles.
Keke Palmer
Cause that can change everything. I could be the monster real fast. Okay. Come on. Monster mash,
Renee
bro.
Stella
Yeah, it really depends. It depends.
Georgia
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
I think of it all.
Georgia
Yeah, it does depend.
Renee
It does change.
Georgia
Because we've all had to do every role at some point.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Renee
But that's why that could be three. Yeah. Like, we're always covered in all areas because there's three of us.
Keke Palmer
Yeah. And three is a tough number, though, sometimes, because it's like, you know, how do you guys all decide on one thing? Like, has there ever been a time
Georgia
three is the perfect number?
Renee
Honestly, Any more would be too many.
Stella
If two people agree, then it's a democracy. It's a democracy.
Keke Palmer
Have you guys ever had a moment where it's like, sorry, boo, this is the song. Or, hey, boo, this is the look. You know, it's like you guys are
Georgia
going, like, maybe more recently.
Renee
When we were deciding what songs to put on our album, that was one song that we were, like, quite unsure about. And it was definitely, like, I was outruled and it was, like, cool.
Keke Palmer
And have you been proven?
Stella
Well, we don't actually know if we can take it off the album.
Renee
Yeah, we don't know what's happening.
Stella
It might be a bit late.
Keke Palmer
Song you'll be. That is so true.
Renee
You really never know.
Stella
People have said that to us. It's the one we don't want is the big song.
Keke Palmer
Isn't that so weird how that happens? I mean, when you think about your debut single that came out in 2022. Did you. Were you guys 100% unanimous on that being. Oh, yes, we were.
Stella
We had to tell the label. Yeah, the label watched.
Renee
We had to fight.
Stella
Oh, yeah, we were making PowerPoints.
Keke Palmer
Oh, my gosh, you guys. So wait, no, we need that corporate process, you know? Cause they see the people, the fans see the creative process, but they don't know that our girls have to also be CEOs.
Renee
Exactly.
Keke Palmer
In order to be an artist in this game, you have to have the power. I can't tell you how many times I've slaved over a deck trying to put all my insights together and why this is the correct move to make with me. So tell me the process of, like, being, like, putting your packaging together or getting your stuff together where you were confident and having to get the label to sign off and believe, like, what were the steps you made? A presentation.
Georgia
Yeah, yeah.
Stella
I mean, we had been making. Making music for, like, two years, up until we even put a song Out. And there was this one so called ladies with me. And it was cute.
Renee
It was cute.
Stella
It was cute. Like, it was a fine song.
Renee
Yeah.
Stella
But I think that they wanted us to, like, get to Cardboard Box. Cardboard Box, everyone knew, was a big song.
Keke Palmer
Cardbox kick the Door.
Stella
They were like, it's too early song out.
Georgia
But we were like, no, we need to come out the gates.
Stella
Hello. Yes, girls, let's go. And the PowerPoint actually had, like a whole EP.
Georgia
Yeah. It was the first Beyond One song. Yeah.
Keke Palmer
Oh, my gosh. Cardboard Box. I do wanna. I had to wrote down the legs, so I had to ask you guys something about that. This one particular leg. Let me get my cards together. Now that we own Cardboard Box. Cause I need to know. Okay, so you guys say this in the song. You ain't gonna change, boy. What's the point in stringing me along? We're done for real. So I'm gonna put the Cardboard box Cardboard box Changing my number and I'm changing the lock so spill the tea Was it based on a real experience?
Georgia
I wish there was some tea. Like, we were children when we literally.
Renee
I think we were like, 17 and 18.
Georgia
It's just all about, like, fantasy, especially at that age. It was just like, y' all were like, honestly.
Keke Palmer
But also, Gary, getting a little tired of your brother.
Renee
Yes, exactly. Exactly. But, like, as a girl group, like, we look to certain artists, and they've always had that kind of, like, I'm gonna do this. I'll bust the windows out your car. So we were just channeling that energy. Like, the day. The day is gonna come when we're gonna do some. Yeah, like, we can take it there.
Keke Palmer
So what is it like for you guys, like, as artists? And I love what you said because it is about also building a fantasy. Like, your fans get to know you, like, in your interviews, or when they get to be around you, but, like, making sure they know that. Like, also the music. I'm trying to give you the entertainment that you need. How was it crafting the personality? Like, what were the groups that you guys kind of looked at or were like, I don't wanna say fashioning yourselves after, but, like, deciding how to give people that show, that girl group.
Georgia
Like, I feel like we didn't really do a lot of that. Like, I think naturally, everything we knew,
Keke Palmer
like, was in the zeitgeist.
Georgia
Exactly. Like, it was all just instilled in us. And because we had Emonike, who is so knowledgeable about girl groups.
Keke Palmer
I love Emani K name.
Stella
Right.
Keke Palmer
Fabulous.
Georgia
Fabulous. Like, we really just followed his lead.
Stella
Yeah. Yeah.
Georgia
And it was one of those things where it was like, you have someone who kind of knows what they're talking about, and you just, like, learn.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Georgia
We weren't very like, we can't be like that. We can't be like that. We can't be like that. We were just like, if it feels right, yeah, great.
Keke Palmer
Yeah. And you knew you wanted to bring that attitude. And you guys have a good relationship with your audience, too. I'm curious on how you were able to establish that, because, you know, there's one thing when you have a fan base, and then it's like, sometimes you might have. Where it's like. Is crazy. I feel like your relationship with Yalls fans, they're very much, deeply engaged, but also supportive. Like, they have a good warming. Like, I love Yalls Stan group. How was it kind of getting that relationship going?
Stella
It's amazing. Like, they are the reason we are where we are. Like, we really got our fan base before everything.
Keke Palmer
Yes.
Georgia
We've got a fan base and no hair.
Keke Palmer
My boy Lawrence Murray, AKA Laro, I had to shout him out because he's the first person that put. I swear he was y' all first thing. And he was like, yo, Keke, you need to know about flow, because I'm always looking for the next. Like, I love. I love seeing and spotting new talent, figuring out how to, like, know what's happening in culture before y' all had y' all first hit anything. He knew. And I was like, yes, put me on the flow. So I'm really happy to have his name.
Renee
I feel like we got lucky because a lot of our fans are very similar to us, like, just in terms of how they carry themselves. So we've never really experienced having, like, a mean fan base or having to tell people, like, don't be like that. Like, just get it.
Keke Palmer
And they stand up for y', all, but they stand up and be like, let them cook. Let them cook because my brother's coming back. Don't even wait a minute. Like, it's like, the instant.
Georgia
But they're still honest as well, which is nice.
Renee
It's a healthy dynamic because we're really
Georgia
honest, and we do appreciate constructive criticism. And, like, we never want to be like. I think the worst thing is having delusional fans.
Stella
Yeah.
Georgia
Like, we have very not delusional fans.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Georgia
And I feel like maybe we're all delusional. The delusional level.
Keke Palmer
I know exactly what you mean, though. And they also seem like they're little keyed into the industry.
Georgia
Like, they're all ready to let.
Keke Palmer
They're ready to know. Like, you don't know what they had to go through. Like, the tingle was like, you know, they kind of given. It's very funny how that has happened, but it helps us as entertainers because it's like, yeah. Know a little something so that you can know where I'm coming from.
Stella
Yes.
Keke Palmer
Why do you think people are so hungry for girl groups right now? Like, and obviously this. I think this is like the space where you guys have literally, yeah. Came in and been like, we here to save the day. But for a minute, you know, we didn't have any type of thing like that. Why do you think people wanted it so much?
Stella
I feel like it's such a big part of, like, growing up.
Renee
Yeah.
Stella
I feel like the generation before us, they kind of had it. Yeah. And so they want to see it again. And then the younger ones, like, they know it's happened for the other generations and it's like, especially for the girls and the gays, it's like such a big thing. It is so important to, like, grow up with music that is so real and just fun. And then they can relate to each one of us.
Georgia
It's just like, it makes people think that they're a part of something. Not. I don't want to say think, because they are, but they look at something and they're like, this is something that I can kind of see myself in. Yeah. Like join. Whereas if it's your one person, it's kind of like, how do you, like, infiltrate that? But if it's like a group, you just like, yeah, I want to join the group. Like, I want to be a part of this community.
Keke Palmer
Yes, yes, yes. It's usually an archetype, too, kind of thing where you're like, I'm so and so. Like, in Destiny's Child, I was always Kelly Rowland. I'm Kelly. You know what I mean? Like, so there's always somebody that you can identify with. I think it's really, really fun, too. Make me think about Spice Girls. You could be Sporty Spice one day. Baby spice and eggs. You know what I mean? Posh. You know, we live for that. I mean. But also, you guys are traveling a lot, right? So when you thinking about how much your life has changed from the beginning, early days to the success you have now, how are you being able to maintain being grounded with being so far away from your family and stuff like that?
Renee
Definitely, like, seeing family when we can But I feel like, because this has been our lives from the very beginning, so it doesn't feel drastically different. Like, we just get on with it. Like, working seven days a week is normal to us, really. We know about that.
Keke Palmer
And the traveling. I always feel like that was always. Even to this day, that's something that's really always annoying to me. I mean, it's just, you know, plane after plane after plane after plane.
Renee
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
After a while, just his tax within itself. Not having any types of routines. Are you guys ritual girls?
Renee
I definitely like, like to keep some type of routine whenever we can. Yeah. It's like you have to get the balance right of, like, taking a break when you need it, but working in an efficient way. But I also going back to before, I think we're lucky because a lot of our team are like our friends and our family. So even when we're away from home, we still have home.
Keke Palmer
Like they become. Or they're actually your relatives.
Renee
Oh, none are actually our relatives, but
Keke Palmer
they feel families and family.
Georgia
Family.
Keke Palmer
There has to be.
Georgia
I love that.
Keke Palmer
Yeah, I love that.
Stella
It's just the only way. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Keke Palmer
Now, what would you say that you have been learning? Right. If you're thinking about, like, growing up, you guys are saying you're single moms. Are there teachings and things that they gave you that you feel like are coming out to fruition while, you know, kind of being on your own and being out on the road and doing all this kinds of work? Have you seen any of those kind of things come back like, oh, you know what? My mom and them, they was, you
Georgia
know, Or I think the main one is just that kind of boss bitch attitude. Yeah. I think that's really the most important thing that, like, we could have ever learned from our moms, which is just doing what you have to do. Yeah, yeah.
Stella
Get it done, bitch. Get it done.
Keke Palmer
That's right. I love get it done, bitch.
Renee
Get it done.
Keke Palmer
Yeah. Seriously, what else is gonna happen if I didn't do it? Then nobody. You know what I mean?
Renee
How would we know?
Keke Palmer
Come on. But it's also tough when you are on the road and the people that. That you work with are your family. That means you have to have a lot of hard conversations sometimes. How do you guys handle that when it's like, I need my space or, you know, whatever it could be, you
Renee
know, it's definitely good because all the hard conversations are only for our benefit. So I feel like we understand those type of conversations.
Stella
Yeah.
Georgia
It used to be difficult.
Stella
Yeah.
Georgia
Like, I Think people.
Keke Palmer
You don't want her to buy feelings, you know? Yeah.
Georgia
But I think there was definitely a. Like, a period where people kind of avoided us in a way or, like, avoided having big conversations with us because we didn't take them very well. But we, like, we were a little. I'm saying we can.
Renee
We can join you, but I think it was hard.
Georgia
Thank you, Renee.
Stella
You're young.
Renee
I think we were young, but also, we didn't really have a lot of people that we respected their opinions and, like, now we're stable.
Keke Palmer
It's like. Cause who are you and why? You don't have the credentials.
Renee
But, you know, like, you know, I feel like a lot of our journey in the beginning was us fighting for, like, what we think is wrong.
Georgia
We were fighting for our lives.
Renee
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
Oh, my gosh. It was hard being. Maybe I'm throwing out a guess, too. It's probably hard being the youngest person in the room and being like, we got our hands on the poles.
Stella
Yeah. And it's like, we knew what we were talking about.
Renee
And I think even though we were,
Georgia
like, completely inexperienced, but we knew.
Stella
We know Gargoyle. And I think a lot of people in labels, like, they hadn't worked with a girl group.
Georgia
Yes.
Stella
Like, we haven't had a girl group in that.
Keke Palmer
Do you know what I mean?
Georgia
Like, we were doing the karaoke. You were doing the karaoke.
Keke Palmer
Would y' all ever do a reality show? Oh, my God. Produced by me.
Stella
Yes.
Keke Palmer
Coming soon. Oh, my God.
Stella
Please.
Keke Palmer
Legitimately, guys, I want to watch y'. All. Like the demon hunter girl.
Renee
Yes.
Keke Palmer
That would be so cool. I want to be in Flo with Flo. Uh. Oh. On the Go with Flo. We gonna find it by the end of the day.
Georgia
Are you finding on the go with Flo, bitch?
Keke Palmer
Yes.
Renee
She's crazy. Okay, it's coming. It's coming.
Stella
Wow, she's good. Wow, she's really good.
Keke Palmer
Guys, I'm obsessed with you. Okay, but wait a minute. Let's get into this real quick, because are y' all dating? I'm not trying to get into y' all business. Y' all ain't gotta tell me who it is. Okay, but let's get into the real stuff that the girls wanna know about. Are the girls out here on the town getting wined and dined?
Stella
Yes,
Georgia
Baby.
Keke Palmer
This is Icy Palma. Yeah. We are at the peak right now. This is it. July is the absolute top of summer. The most committed, most alive, most everything month of the entire year. The days are long, the energy is high. And everyone you love is finally available at the same time. This is the month summer delivers on everything it promised back in January when you were cold and optimistic. Okay, okay. So my friends and I found this home on Airbnb and Turks and Caicos. Perfect for a little couple's getaway. Beachfront palm trees, private, secluded. The kind of place where you look around and genuinely cannot see another soul and you think, oh, it's just us. The whole world disappeared, and all that was left was our little group on this beach. Like we had been dropped there by the universe, specifically, somebody's situation. Chip got on the grill and did not disappoint. He was clearly prepared because he brought the sandals and everything. And moments like that. Moments where everyone gathers around food that somebody actually cooked outside with the ocean right there. It was the kind of trip you stop trying to document because you're too busy enjoying it. We found that stay on Airbnb, and it set the bar for every couple's trip I take for the rest of my life. This is what peak summer can feel like when the space is right. Find a home on Airbnb this summer and meet the moment. Peak summer is not waiting for you to get ready. There are two versions of me at any given moment. There's the version that is on the way somewhere, locked in, unbothered. Do not interrupt me. I have a purpose. And then there's the version that sees a Starbucks and just turns mid stride with absolutely no hesitation. The second one is my favorite version, especially in the summer. I'm the one who orders a tropical butterfly refresher. Guava and passion fruit flavors. These mango pineapple flavored pearls that pop in your mouth, and a butterfly pea flower infusion on top that just shifts the color of the whole drink right in front of you. And I stand there watching it happen like it's the most important thing that happened all week because it might be. One small choice can lead to a whole shift. Unlock your best summer memories with the Tropical Butterfly Refresher from Starbucks. Order now on the app. So what's your type? Funny. Are we looking for Mr. Smooth and Cool?
Renee
They found that Mr.
Keke Palmer
So Y' all already in a relationship?
Renee
I'm single.
Keke Palmer
You're single. Okay. So wait a minute. So you're in a relationship? How long you guys been.
Stella
Two years.
Keke Palmer
Okay, cool.
Georgia
Yes.
Keke Palmer
In the business. Not in the business.
Stella
In the business.
Keke Palmer
Do the world know?
Stella
Some of them know. The world? The Cavs. The world. The Cavs know.
Keke Palmer
Okay.
Renee
Boom.
Keke Palmer
So they do know.
Stella
Mm.
Keke Palmer
What about yours?
Georgia
I have Been in a relationship for six and a half years.
Keke Palmer
Oh, my girl. That's your man. Oh, my gosh. Six. Yes.
Georgia
Yes. And he is actually a part of our management team. Hold it in.
Keke Palmer
Come on, tell me. I'm Atola. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I'm crazy. Okay, six years. Bam. And. So are you looking for somebody or what?
Renee
No, I'm not.
Keke Palmer
She's that self.
Renee
I'm looking.
Georgia
Yes.
Renee
I'm looking for myself. I just think I've been in couple relationships, and I love your voice.
Georgia
Thank you. It got very demure. Really fun relationships.
Renee
I always end up single.
Keke Palmer
They end up single.
Renee
Yes.
Georgia
Thank you.
Renee
By choice. Yes, by choice. But I think that, like, I'm really young. I'm 23, and I need to just look in with myself. Like, I just need to focus. They'll come, you know, no distractions. Yes. When it comes, they'll come. That's. That's great. But I'm just not actively looking because, like, dating is long and, like, it takes a lot. Nobody got time for that. Yeah.
Keke Palmer
That's why I also had asked, because it's like sometimes we don't have the schedule for it.
Renee
No, I don't. You know what I mean?
Keke Palmer
The emotional bandwidth and it. You know what I mean? It requires a lot. But I mean, also, being desired is a part of being in your womanhood too. So having a little moment just for romance and stuff, it also is inspirational to the music. So, you know, I'm like, you know, how does that play a role in your life?
Georgia
Renee is our music.
Stella
Oh, my goodness. Her love Lies is our muse because
Keke Palmer
it gives you something to play with even if there ain't no good. Hell, that's better. He came through the door. I told him go, yeah. Why my thing goes so old?
Georgia
Wow.
Renee
I think we need to do a session.
Keke Palmer
Accomplishing,
Georgia
please. Okay.
Keke Palmer
How do you guys feel? Like you resist being trapped by controversies. Because one of the things that kills me about it with girl groups is that people love girl groups just to be able to be like, she's my favorite her. She need to go them. It's like, almost like they're the ones. They're the reasons why we don't have a girl group. Because you guys tore them all apart.
Renee
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
So how do you, like, you know, help each other in those times and periods where it's like, okay, they just trying to always force us to a competition. I mean, I don't even know how, if that's what you experience, but I just know that is the reality. Sometimes of girl groups. So how do you guys prepare yourselves for this thing?
Renee
I think what's good is that no one can tell us about ourselves.
Keke Palmer
Okay.
Renee
Like, we. We have an opinion of ourselves. We have an opinion of each other. Right. And so we can't really feed into, like, these people that don't know what we know.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Stella
And. And also, like, we know we wouldn't go online and write something like that. Therefore, what they're going through, they need prayer. Yeah. Like, you're not happy and like.
Keke Palmer
I'm sorry.
Stella
Sorry. You know, so you take picture.
Georgia
Soul.
Renee
Yes.
Georgia
You know, and we're also, like, we're not done. Like, it's too early for us to be taken.
Stella
Give us a sec.
Keke Palmer
Do you know what I mean?
Renee
We're still marinating.
Georgia
It's premature.
Stella
Yeah.
Georgia
Like, we have, like, conversations amongst, like, first of all, we know each other's strengths. We know each other's weaknesses. I wouldn't call them weaknesses. I'd call them jelly. Just things.
Renee
Yeah, okay.
Georgia
Just things that aren't strengths. And.
Renee
Yeah.
Georgia
Like, we know we're very self aware and we're like, we're. We're working hard, you know, we're working hard to, like, improve on all of the things that, like, we're not happy with within ourselves. And that's really all we can do. Yeah. And we're happy to do that. That's like, kind of like one of the best parts, especially when it comes to, like, live. Watching our live vocals improve.
Keke Palmer
I've always felt that you guys have been good from the beginning. I'll be honest with you. When I first. You know what I mean? I really, truly did. There's been moments with people where you're like, oh, they need some. But I felt like everything with you guys has been a consistent growth moment. And from the beginning, it was like, okay, they could sing. They came to sing. We locked in, so, you know. Fabulous.
Renee
Thank you.
Keke Palmer
Bringing us to the Grammy. Not my name. I mean, guys, what was it like to be. I mean, you are the first British girl group nominated in 20 years. Yeah. Crazy. That's kind of like crazy. What were you thinking when you guys got that nomination? Tell me where you were. Like, what was?
Georgia
Shocked.
Keke Palmer
Me and R.H. she said shocked.
Georgia
Shocked.
Keke Palmer
It was insane.
Renee
Yes, it was.
Stella
We did not expect it. We didn't expect it. We actually didn't expect it.
Georgia
No idea.
Keke Palmer
No idea.
Stella
We weren't together.
Georgia
No.
Stella
Georgia was going somewhere, right?
Georgia
Yes. Yes.
Stella
Yeah. Me and Renee were in the studio
Georgia
and I called them. It's so Annoying because they were in my house and I just left and I'm thinking, well, like, do you know what I mean? But anyways. But I. So I could feel a part of it. I called them to tell them as
Renee
opposed to like someone just telling us. Yeah.
Georgia
But I still had fomo.
Renee
But it was just, just.
Georgia
I know.
Renee
It's fine.
Georgia
It's fine. Because. Never mind.
Keke Palmer
We're gonna wait.
Renee
Exactly.
Keke Palmer
Right, right, right, right.
Stella
We really actually didn't even and, like, wake up and say it's the nomination day. It was such a surprise.
Renee
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
Wow. And then. Did it make you anxious? I know. Victoria Monet's actually been talking a lot about winning her Grammy and kind of the after effects of sometimes when you get such these achievements because whether you win or whatever nominated is, you know, it's already a thing. Did you feel that it put any more pressure on you or.
Renee
I feel like, if anything, it put more of a pep in our step because we. But to some extent we thought we were gonna win because it felt like we could win this for sure. But then it was humbling for us to remember that you have to work extremely hard and it takes multiple years for you to clear the Grammys. So to even be there after our first album, that's crazy.
Keke Palmer
And to be acknowledged, to be seen. A lot of music that comes out, as we all know.
Renee
Exactly.
Keke Palmer
That doesn't even get a chance to even be submitted or seen. So it's definitely next level. Who did win?
Stella
And he's.
Keke Palmer
We do love Duran.
Georgia
We do.
Keke Palmer
But also it's kind of like, what's with y' all categories? Cuz why me and Duran in the same one? Well, it was massive.
Renee
R and B. I think we have a bit more. We have a bit more listening.
Keke Palmer
I couldn't tell you.
Renee
No, the group categories is where they get you.
Keke Palmer
That doesn't make much sense.
Georgia
Yeah. I think. And this is another thing as well. I think across the most awards, all award shows, like, obviously, I don't want to get in, like to it too much because we're always grateful nominations, but
Keke Palmer
like being critical but respectfully, there's definitely
Georgia
inconsistencies when it comes to categories in England, over here, like everywhere. And I think that that is a big reason why we don't put a lot of pressure on ourselves when it comes to these things. Because we've. We re like, we've seen people that we thought deserve to win, lose. So, you know, there's always a level of, if you win, it's nice, but if you don't win. Just remember that it's not the be all end. It's kind of a bit of like a whole politics.
Keke Palmer
There's a lot involved, a lot of different steps. What would you say that you define success by? Like, would it be making sure that your tours are sold out? Would it be people listening to the music and streaming? Like, what, What. What are the things where you're like, as long as we're X, Y and Z, I'm happy. And it might be different for all of you.
Stella
I think it's real life stuff, like the fans and the community we make. And when people come to us and say, you, like, you changed my life. Like, you saved me.
Renee
Even, like last night.
Georgia
Yeah, yeah.
Stella
Like just interactions and live shows. Because live shows, they just.
Renee
There's nothing like.
Georgia
It also, like, live shows make a lot of the money as well.
Keke Palmer
Okay.
Georgia
So it's like a fair kind of. It's like a real in person moment where you're with everyone, and it's also one of the things that make a lot of money too. So I definitely think that, that. Because, you know, at the end of the day, money is like, it's important.
Keke Palmer
Yeah. It's great that you guys like to tour because for any artist, I always say that's really what I. I've always defined success for myself by continuity. If I can continue to do something and if I can continue to go on tour, sell out shows, then I can continue because people are buying in and I'm able to continue to invest and continue on. And so I think, you know, the fact that. But it's also one of the hardest things to do. So the fact that you guys can get up, go, be ready on the road, hit it, and do your thing, that's like, hats off to you. It takes a lot of discipline. It's not easy. Okay. Okay. What is the craziest tour story that you actually can share?
Georgia
Okay, this is another one of, like,
Keke Palmer
the ones that people do this question when we need to, like, do more crazy, because that was also crazy. Like, it is ridiculous. Who did this?
Georgia
It wasn't because we don't have an answer, but there's one. I can give you, like, a beautiful moment. It's not crazy. We don't need it. She don't want it.
Keke Palmer
We don't need it.
Georgia
Nobody wants it.
Keke Palmer
Well, tell me about that mechanical bull ride with Kehlani. Oh, my God.
Stella
Yeah, I lost. Yeah. That was intense.
Keke Palmer
Was that a first mechanical bull moment? Do y' all do that in London?
Georgia
No.
Keke Palmer
Oh, it's not. It's an American thing, I guess, because we do the cowboy.
Stella
Exactly.
Keke Palmer
Okay.
Renee
It was really fun, though. Like, we.
Keke Palmer
How long did you last?
Georgia
Not long.
Renee
Lastly, like 20 seconds.
Georgia
You just gave us our answers.
Renee
I love that.
Stella
That is a good interviewer.
Keke Palmer
What about this? What about, I'm a fine size, I can't let my girls down. I can't let my girls down. Thank you. Okay. Had to be on point for you.
Georgia
Thank you.
Stella
So.
Keke Palmer
Yeah, that's interesting. First mechanical bull ride with Kehlani. She's a lot of fun.
Renee
Love her.
Keke Palmer
Yeah. Cool. Great. We'll be moving on in the Guardian. 2023.
Stella
Georgia. Uh.
Renee
Oh.
Keke Palmer
You said coming in as a girl group, a black girl group, we have to kick the door down. We can't afford to be half arsed. They really spelled it Britishly A R,
Renee
S, E, D. Yes.
Keke Palmer
So when you say kick the door down, I mean, what were the actual doors for you? And I say it specifically. Cause as a black woman, we all have our. You know, we're not a monolith. So what we feel like we are up against is unique to all of us. So for y', all, what were your major things? And then the black British of it all, as opposed to the black American of it all.
Stella
Yeah, I.
Georgia
I'll be quick.
Stella
Go on.
Georgia
I think it was really just about the relationship we had going on with the label. That was definitely our initial issue in the beginning. It's definitely grown leaps and bounds, like where we are now. But rewind. It was really hard. And I think it was just balancing the fact that we were young and lacked experience in the industry, but we also had really strong opinions. So trying to make sure our opinions and, like, our desires were being met, but whilst also kind of having to be like, the three black girls, young black girls that didn't really know what we were talking about or didn't know
Keke Palmer
how to speak the language of the industry. Even though you knew exactly what the culture would desire from you as a group.
Georgia
Exactly.
Keke Palmer
It's a very hard combination. You know, code switching and learning the language, but not letting the language define your artistry. Not being, you know.
Georgia
Yeah, it's different. It's a balancing act.
Stella
That was literally my answer. I think. I think it's like she would give
Keke Palmer
me a high five.
Georgia
Oh, what did you think I was doing?
Stella
That she gave.
Keke Palmer
Yeah, she thought it was that, I think. Very weird what you did when we were on Baby to Keep Calmer earlier. Why the hand?
Stella
No. Yes. Oh, true. It's like I Think people seeing our passion as a passion and not as we're saying, you're wrong and you're against us. You know, it's like, we actually all have the same goal here, but I think that's also been for us to learn.
Renee
Yeah.
Stella
You know, how to really be respected. But, yeah, in that way, you have to. You have to learn their language and speak their language for them to. You have to make them feel special.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Stella
In a lot of ways as well.
Keke Palmer
Yes, you do.
Stella
Chess, Checkers.
Georgia
There was also that, like, whole, like, we don't want to be perceived as, like, angry and aggressive. I'll be honest. Personally, I didn't care. I was just willing to do that because I'm just like, this is what we're not gonna do right now. We're not gonna do that right now.
Keke Palmer
Yeah.
Georgia
So if that's what has to be done, that's what has to be done. And there's been, like, a lot of having to kind of undo, but it was worth.
Renee
Necessary.
Georgia
Yeah, it was so worth it. Yeah.
Keke Palmer
Anything you want to add? You don't have to.
Georgia
I just.
Keke Palmer
Making sure you're checking in.
Renee
I feel, like perception and identity, not necessarily with the industry, but with, like, fans and people that look at us, was something that took a long time to figure out and develop and was always kind of, like, in the back of my mind, like, because, you know, people see a group and they put all their opinions on it, but it's just something that evolved with time because we couldn't really base ourselves on other groups. Like, people would always be like, who is Flo? Like, and we just.
Keke Palmer
We're just figuring it out.
Georgia
It's us, right?
Renee
Yes.
Keke Palmer
That's Flo.
Renee
Thank you. But, yeah, that was definitely something that took a while, and we're still figuring it out, but we're in a better place now.
Keke Palmer
Who do you think people wanted? And maybe you don't know, but who do you think people wanted Flo to be?
Renee
I think.
Georgia
I think there were. Obviously, there was, like, a lot of Destiny's Child comparisons, but then that was also, like, hard for.
Keke Palmer
I mean, come on. Destiny's Child.
Georgia
It's, like, the biggest compliment ever. But then at the same time, there was definitely a. You know, there was a very clear, like, dynamic between that group, which we didn't want anything to do with, and also, again, like, I mean, they was dancing, they were singing. Like, we still have, like, a long way to go before we reach, like, that standard, which we are, you know, working towards. So that was kind Of. But no, we never, like. We never hate to be compared to them.
Renee
No.
Keke Palmer
Yeah. You're just saying that people kind of didn't have a reference of a North Star, so they chose the highest one. That is obviously remarkable and great, but also different from you guys as well. And you know, you're comparing me to somebody that's been around for 30 years. We just coming up. So I totally get that. I really do. And it's like the British of it all.
Stella
Right. I feel like.
Keke Palmer
I mean, I know a couple of artists, you know what I'm saying? But I feel like. How much do you feel like it's your duty to bring that representation into your music? Or do you feel it at all? Cause music influence is music influence. I don't know how much you feel influenced by the British R and B scene or not.
Stella
I mean, we're definitely more influenced by the American just cause there's more of it. And it's incredible. It started over here, but we love being British.
Keke Palmer
Yeah, yeah.
Stella
And there are girl groups and, you know, Spice Girls.
Keke Palmer
I mean, Spice Girls for sure. I love Spice Girls. You know, I love, you know, my man Craig David. Okay, Craig David. I mean, he's great. You know what I mean? But I always ask that when I think about the diaspora. It's like all of our different influences and how we all feel heavy to represent it in our work.
Stella
I think it helps because we're British a bit different.
Georgia
Yeah, yeah. Like, that's definitely the thing we love the most about kind of like British music is the authenticity that, like, came with it. That is, I think, where we try and like, channel our Britishism by just being like ourselves, Authentic.
Keke Palmer
Yeah, baby. This is Iki Paul.
Georgia
My. Yeah.
Keke Palmer
In every great production, there is the star and then there's the thing that makes the star look good without ever asking for credit. Think about it. The right lighting paired with a perfectly timed music cue. The one friend who fixes your collar before you walk into a room. They're unsung, but yet absolutely essential. Life is already asking a lot of you. The best things are the ones that take something off your plate without you even having to ask. That's what Fruit of the Loom women's underwear is. In my daily lineup, I'm putting together looks, I'm making entrances. I'm doing the most, as always. And underneath all of it is something so comfortable and so reliable that I genuinely forget it's there. And when you're going to do the most, the last thing you need is one more decision. Fruit of the Loom is the one I already made. Comfortable, reliable, completely off my mental checklist. The fit doesn't shift and the fabric doesn't fight me. It just lets me do what I do. The most powerful pieces in any ensemble are the ones that elevate without competing. And when something supports you that effortlessly, you stop searching and you start trusting. It becomes the easy choice. Not because it's basic, because it's exactly right. One less thing to figure out, one decision you never have to second guess about. Fruit of the Loom proves that simple feels really good. So I need to talk about something that has been taking up a lot of my mental real estate lately. It started casual. I just stopped in, wasn't even planning on it. And now, now I'm thinking about it in between meetings, telling people about it who didn't ask. This is a tropical butterfly refresher from Starbucks. And I am fully aware of how it sounds right now. Guava and passion fruit flavors. Mango pineapple flavored pearls that pop. And this butterfly pea flower on top that shifts the color of the whole drink right in front of you. It's beautiful and delicious and mesmerizing. I don't know where this is going, but I'm not asking questions. Unlock your best summer memories with the tropical butterfly refresher from Starbucks. Order now on the app. You guys have already had love from people like Brandi, Missy Elliott, Kelly Rowland, JoJo SZA, Victoria. I mean, the list goes on. And Missy actually jumped on fly girl, which was crazy. Who is a dream collaborator that you think could usher in a new era of flow or just, you know, give you guys a little something different that you never did before.
Renee
Something different. Well, I feel like Brandy would give us something real.
Stella
We have to take that off.
Georgia
This is giving always day 200 of asking Brandy.
Keke Palmer
Brandy clean. But that would be an easily thing.
Renee
Yes. Like, I feel like it would be a really elevated.
Stella
Like, we have to pick that off.
Renee
Yes.
Stella
We just have to.
Keke Palmer
I would love to see our brand.
Renee
That's definitely a dream.
Georgia
Even if it doesn't come out, we can learn so much.
Keke Palmer
I would love the dream to pin something for y'.
Stella
All.
Renee
Ooh, yes.
Stella
Yes.
Renee
We've been trying to get in with the dream for a minute as well.
Keke Palmer
I think that would be sickening. I would love to. Love to see that y' all in the dream. Would give me some excitement. Yeah. Okay. So, I mean, you kind of already said this. I was gonna bring this up, but you kind of already said where you don't have this issue with letting your confidence lead. Because I think sometimes, especially as black women and as women in general, everything can immediately be seen as arrogant if you're just trying to be confident and bring it to the table. But I know, Georgia, you said, like, I don't mind being that person and wearing that mask if that's what it's gonna have to take. And so I imagine that's kind of how you guys all feel.
Georgia
Yeah.
Stella
I mean, I think confidence and arrogance, like, there's a very fine line. And I think the line is not so fine when you're not white. That makes sense, like, because we are confident, and, like, maybe sometimes that is a bit of arrogance, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
Renee
Yeah. It's nothing to do with.
Georgia
Yeah, it's comparing. Yeah.
Stella
It's not that we think we're better than anybody. Like, it really isn't. It's just we've also seen how much we've grown, and we know what we have in our back pocket. Like, we really. We're proud of ourselves.
Georgia
Yeah.
Renee
She's full.
Stella
Like, you know, so it's not arrogance. But I. You have to. You have to know you're.
Georgia
Yeah.
Stella
To get someone.
Georgia
Otherwise, how's anyone else gonna believe it?
Stella
Believe it.
Renee
Exactly.
Keke Palmer
Absolutely love that. Let's talk about your second album, Therapy in the Club. Therapy at the Club.
Georgia
Excuse me.
Keke Palmer
I love the title.
Georgia
It's the same issue.
Stella
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
You be, like, therapy in the club, too. At the club. Which is grammatically correct.
Renee
Yes. I may never know. Yeah.
Keke Palmer
But as we all know, the club will very much turn therapy real quick. What are the different ways that the club has turned into therapy for y'?
Georgia
All?
Keke Palmer
Like, have y' all been in there being like, come on, girl, let's get it together. Have you run into an ex or a type of a situation? Like, what are your. Are you even in the club?
Renee
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
You know what I mean? Or were you just.
Georgia
That's another fantasy.
Renee
Honestly. No, this one's real. I feel like every time I go to the club, it's therapy. Like, there's a different thing to overcome or to just. Like, I either need a pep talk or I need to find somebody, or I need to have a fun night with my girls, or I'm in the bathroom and I need somebody to help me get it together.
Keke Palmer
Okay.
Renee
Every single time period, I feel like
Keke Palmer
if I'm going to the club, I'm already in need of therapy. Cause that's the only reason I'm going. I Don't really go to the club to have fun. I go to the club to forget that life hasn't been fun.
Stella
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
To be quite honest, you're gonna love our album.
Stella
Thank you.
Keke Palmer
She said thank you for that.
Georgia
I would say that for me, I find that going to the club, there's almost like, no consequences. Like, I think outside of the club, I can really struggle with confrontation, like, as in confronting my feelings. But in the club, once.
Stella
Bit loose.
Georgia
Bit loose.
Keke Palmer
A little bit loose.
Georgia
I'll be telling everyone the things I don't like about them in a respectful way. But I'll be like, yeah, like, you know, like Capricorn. I know that's right. Because it's just way more, like light hearted in that situation. And I feel like I know there's 100% gonna be resolved after it because we're in the club. How can we?
Keke Palmer
We can't argue in the club. So, you know when I stop hating you, I never knew you did. You know what I mean?
Renee
Type.
Keke Palmer
That's too funny. So do you guys feel very British in that you like a little drink? Cause one thing I do love when I go to London is that they're not afraid to have a drink or drink.
Stella
Oh, we love a short, short, short.
Keke Palmer
I wish I had a drink for y' all right now.
Renee
Honestly, when I found out that it was a 1030, I was like, sad.
Georgia
Like, you can't really drink after.
Keke Palmer
We need to have a cocktail.
Georgia
If I'm wrong.
Keke Palmer
Yeah, I'm here for that.
Stella
Yes.
Georgia
And your girl likes to.
Keke Palmer
Okay, so what can we tell the fans to expect for this new era in this new album?
Georgia
Aflo? Hard work.
Stella
Hard work. We're taking things very seriously. Like, we really assessed the last album and what didn't work, what went well, even better if. Yes, we did some pee analysis. Like, right? Yes.
Renee
Point evidence explained.
Keke Palmer
Oh, I love that. Did you have any moments where you went back to some of the team members that gave you push and were like, maybe y' all were right about some things or were they wrong about everything?
Georgia
There was a lot of different opinions even within our team. Everyone's so opinionated, which is really good because we like opinions. How we gonna make a decision? But it was hard because we were all so kind of divided at times in our thoughts. But like Stella said, point evidence explained. Like, a good pee will change everyone's mind. Yeah.
Stella
And there's proof in the pudding.
Renee
Yes.
Stella
Like, we really all can see now.
Renee
Yeah.
Stella
Like, we wanted to do a lot of stuff after the album. Like, acoustic things. More videos, and it just didn't happen. But I think now, the last album.
Keke Palmer
Okay. Get you.
Stella
So now we know how to, like, plan ahead. Like, we really have the whole year planned.
Georgia
How to distribute, budget.
Stella
Yes.
Keke Palmer
And, like, even.
Stella
Yeah. Like, where are we putting money?
Georgia
Yeah.
Stella
Like, what? We need to really get into the details so that everything's pulled off.
Renee
Yeah.
Stella
So.
Keke Palmer
Oh, my gosh. I love that, you guys, because that's really, like. And it's hard to be like, damn, you have to think about that. But we have to tell people, like, when somebody wants to be a pop star, when somebody wants to be an artist, like, you also have to be a business person. You must know what you're working with and how to actually properly distribute your money. And like you said, pee. No. What money actually is going to make money come back in. Because a lot of times you think it's like, we need more music videos. Like, actually, you need more shows. Or it's like, we need more X, Y and Z. Actually, you need more about. You know, so it's like, that's. I just love that because you save yourself so much time and so much people coming after you for the money. You didn't give them back.
Stella
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
Which is a mess.
Georgia
Not yet.
Renee
No. We're in a good place.
Georgia
Yeah. Well, you know, we're definitely, like, in the red. But, like, who isn't?
Keke Palmer
No, it is. You always are.
Georgia
Yeah. And we're definitely like. Like, we just need to keep going. Yeah.
Keke Palmer
A bit more money, please.
Georgia
You know what?
Keke Palmer
They honestly like to give you more money. Cause they're like, now they're with us forever. Exactly. They're like, how about 20 million?
Renee
We haven't even gotten that.
Keke Palmer
You'll be like 50. Like, we still working on flow album 55, right? Literally.
Georgia
Literally. But as long as we.
Stella
How many remix albums can we put.
Georgia
As long as, like, we are happy, then I'll be honest. We don't really, like, it's nothing.
Keke Palmer
Yeah. You know, it's a business.
Stella
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
You know what I mean? Good days, bad days, whatever. It's continuity, sustainability. As long as we able to keep on going, we're done. We're good. Okay, let's talk about leak it because, you know, you guys are R and B group, but this leaned a little bit more pop and it gave a little like, you know, and it grabbed a different kind of attention, you know. So did it make you guys be like, but let's lean more into that pop bag, or were you kind of like, no, no, no, we did that once. We want to rein it in and make sure we stay true to our core.
Renee
Well, I think we'll be true to our core with any type of genre song that we do because it's all about how we sing it and the harmonies and the group element. But this leak, it reflected like a time of pop that we loved, when people were making pop music and singing down. And there's not too much of that nowadays. So we were just kind of like, why can't we just like James disdain.
Georgia
There's not too much of that nowadays,
Renee
but like, we absolutely can, so why not?
Keke Palmer
Yeah, yeah.
Georgia
We also, like.
Renee
I think.
Georgia
I mean, me personally, I don't really look at us and think we're an R and B group. If I'm completely honest. I think the songs of ours that perform the best are all pop cardboard boxes. Walk like this. I mean, low key fly girl in my bag. Like, I think it's very. To say that we're just an R B girl group is why.
Stella
Why are you guys saying that?
Georgia
I think.
Stella
I think we all know because of
Georgia
the shade of our skin and. Yeah, I just think that we. We want to take up the.
Renee
The whole. Yeah. The whole thing.
Georgia
In the whole space.
Renee
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
Hit music group.
Renee
Yeah.
Georgia
Thank you. Yeah. That's what we're striving to be.
Renee
I think, like, at the beginning of our journey, we wanted to be like, known as an RB group. We didn't want people to think that we just make. I don't know, we wanted people to know we make R and B music
Georgia
because, I mean, it's like a feeling.
Keke Palmer
It's like how I think about Janet Jackson. Like, Janet Jackson is a pop artist, you know what I mean? But she's black and we live for her sister down and she give us R and B arrangements when we need them. But it's at the end of the day, like, she's a pop star and I really live for when I get to see. See us in those spaces. Like, I love the pop star vibe. Like, there's nothing I love more. It's giving Britney Houston. So it's like period that vibe. And so I love. I totally agree with you guys and I know it's not any shade to any genre, but it's this idea that, like, we're taking up all space by being a great group and bringing you great music. So, you know, but maybe if you. If you actually gave us 10 hut, then there would be no problem.
Georgia
There'll be archives.
Stella
You know what's so funny though, is that conversation comes up all the time.
Renee
We tried. We really tried with that song.
Georgia
Honestly.
Keke Palmer
Gotcha, gotcha. Just a little razzle dazzle. Guys sweating on.
Stella
Where did you hear that song?
Keke Palmer
Honestly, don't worry about it. Hello, Olanike. I have spies. And I said the girls are coming to the show. What should I ask the. Oh, wow. And I'm actually really sad because we're running out of time. No, this is really, really sad.
Renee
We need to extend a bit.
Keke Palmer
I'm gonna ask you guys one more question and then we're do a game. Okay. And then we're probably gonna go get drinks. No. Okay. So you know what? To the fans that are watching, it could be guys, girls, thems, theys, anybody that, you know, looks up to you guys or just loves you as a group. What would you say to them? Like, if there's like a mission statement for Flo, like, as your girls, what would you say or what do you wanna say to them?
Georgia
Hang in there.
Stella
Yeah. Thank you for hanging in there with us.
Renee
Thank you first and foremost, thank you for believing in us. We really needed your support and to spread the rain on the music. Oh, thanks for rain. Disagree.
Keke Palmer
What's happening? Sorry, go ahead.
Stella
No, yeah.
Renee
Maybe you were hummington up. You know, we couldn't have done it without you. Like, a big part of Flo is our fan base. So we are in this position because of you guys. Continue to spread the word and spread the mission. Guys. We need to become the biggest girl group of our generation. We need to go.
Keke Palmer
We thank you for already letting us become.
Georgia
Yes. That's nice.
Renee
Thank you.
Stella
Thank you for giving us the space to do that. Yes. Thank you for supporting. Even. Even if sometimes you don't love something, like you still love us through it.
Renee
Yes.
Keke Palmer
We appreciate that they letting y' all be you.
Renee
Yes.
Georgia
Thank you. That's letting us explore, experiment, like it's such a journey. And I feel like there's never. We've got very forgiving, just a forgiving community.
Renee
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
You know, they're giving you space because
Georgia
we be forgiving some of y', all.
Renee
Lest we forget.
Keke Palmer
Come on, Capricorn. Okay, so I love to play a game with all my guests. I'm gonna take you guys down memory lane of some R and B girl groups that have, you know, possibly inspired you. And I know y' all be doing your homework, but I'm gonna read a lyric from a classic 90s or 2000s girl group and you're gonna. You know what? I'm gonna let me know what group Is. But honestly, I feel like you guys are gonna get this so easy. And it's. I tried to make it hard, but it was really hard to make it hard. So here we go.
Stella
Let me say that. Cause if we do badly, it's embarrassing.
Georgia
It's embarrassing.
Keke Palmer
Hanging out the passenger side of his best friend's ride?
Georgia
Trying to holler at me. Tlc.
Keke Palmer
She was like, you know that you say the wrong.
Stella
Yeah.
Keke Palmer
But you know what it is? I saw you. I felt you. She knew. She knew that she did.
Stella
Okay.
Keke Palmer
Cause my heart starts beating triple time? With thoughts of loving you on my own, on my mind?
Renee
And I can't figure out Just what to do? When the causing cure is you? I get so weak in the knees, I get hurt.
Keke Palmer
You got me. I'm obsessed. Cause why they gave me the most life. Girl, please. Oh, my gosh.
Georgia
Okay.
Keke Palmer
Never gonna get it, Never gonna get it?
Renee
Never gonna get it, Never gonna get it?
Keke Palmer
I'm a bum, bum, Yes. Y' all not gonna say their name?
Georgia
I don't know their name. If I'm completely honest.
Keke Palmer
Anybody? No, I was gonna give you his name.
Stella
It's like throwback. Throwback, Voguing.
Keke Palmer
That was good. See, I had y'.
Stella
All.
Georgia
That was good.
Keke Palmer
But they are one of those groups sometimes when we know their song, but then you can be like, yeah, okay. All right, here we go. Kick off your shoes and relax your feet.
Georgia
Kick off your shoes and relax your feet.
Stella
It's not kick off your shoes, relax your feet. Okay. It's a you. No, but you sound so right.
Keke Palmer
The way this is, y' all in the studio. Cause the way that you found a hook for that. Kick up your shoes, relax your feet. I'm actually with that. Like, that was. You need to keep that in your back pocket. It's kick off your shoes and relax your feet. Come on and party to the escape. Feet. Just kicking, just kicking. Y' all don't know them, so that's Candy. Y' all know Candy from Halloween.
Georgia
Escape.
Keke Palmer
Escape.
Renee
You could have picked a different escape.
Keke Palmer
I know. I was trying to make. I told y'.
Stella
All.
Georgia
I was trying to make it a little hard.
Keke Palmer
Okay, last one. We moonwalk the foxtrot, then polka the salsa. And I wasn't familiar with this with them, so maybe I should try to give you another one. Because when I read it, I said, oh, wait a minute. Okay, let me give you another one. But it's gonna be that same group. Hold on. Cause everything is such a hit with them.
Georgia
You can go from, like, a second
Keke Palmer
bus so here's a story from A to Z?
Renee
So here's a story from A to Z?
Keke Palmer
You wanna get with me? She's a real light day?
Georgia
You say?
Keke Palmer
Slummy body down?
Renee
And wine is all around?
Keke Palmer
Slummy body down? The wine is all around.
Stella
Oh, I love that.
Renee
What does that song even mean?
Keke Palmer
You know how you?
Renee
If you want to be my lover?
Georgia
You got to, got to give?
Renee
Taking it too easy? But that's the way it is.
Keke Palmer
Think about that.
Renee
How you know how I feel?
Georgia
What?
Keke Palmer
You guys, that was a huge.
Georgia
Such a good song.
Keke Palmer
And thanks to you guys, we get more British girl groups.
Georgia
Yes.
Keke Palmer
I really have enjoyed spending time with you ladies. You absolutely bring the flow. Okay, Stop the punk. You're actually killing me.
Renee
Thank you.
Georgia
Okay, hug.
Keke Palmer
This conversation right here is why I do the podcast. Real women, real friendship and a direction. Okay? It is easy to look at a group like. Like Flo and only see the success. What I've heard today is something much deeper. Okay? They are focused. I heard three young women who have figured out how to hold onto each other and what they did this for. Because the truth is, talent might get people's attention, but trust, purpose, and sisterhood is what can keep a group together. Flo is not just making music, okay? They are creating a blueprint. A blueprint that says we don't have to compete to be successful and that friendship and vulnerability aren't weaknesses. That's a message any of us could take right now. I'll see you next time on baby, this is Kiki Palmer.
Georgia
Baby, this is.
Keke Palmer
This is Kiki. Baby, this is Kiki Palma. Yeah.
