Welcome, Elda.
B
Hey.
A
Go ahead and introduce yourself.
B
Hey, guys. I'm Elda, also known as Waxing Queen Adventures on most of the social media platforms that you find. And I just focus on waxing and having fun.
A
Like, she needs an introduction, right? Let me tell you, we are in Vegas. Okay. I. I've never recorded an out of state wax. I mean, a podcast. So this is Neil. So the shit that I had to go through for this, y'. All. But anything for you.
B
Oh, thank you. I appreciate it.
A
I want to get the fact if you guys know, she doesn't really show face. So this is huge.
B
Okay.
A
For beauty with twists, it's huge. I want to know about your story. A little bit of a rundown for people that don't know. So how did Waxing Queen Adventure start? And what made you want to build your brand so publicly online?
B
Well, it started during COVID So as we all know, a lot of us was doing nothing during COVID when they said we had to shut down. And then so that, for me, it meant being online more, which I never really was. And then as I noticed, like, just scrolling through, there's like, so many other, you know, SD educators charging an arm and a leg for a virtual demo. And I was like, I know you lie. So I decided, I'm like, you know what? Let me just start doing some Brazilians. Cause I noticed that on YouTube you can post it as long as it's educational. And that's what I did. And I started mentioning it in the wax groups and just like on social media. And people started liking it because it's 100% free. It's my technique from my point of view, of course, and that's just really how it started. And then from there, I just made little short clips and then bigger clips, signed up for all the platforms that I could, and it was good to go. So.
A
Because I started during COVID too, and everything was shut down. So we were not supposed to take. But I still take. Okay. I did. I blew up the most, actually. And even my TikTok blew up because I was just so consistent in posting online, you know? But how did you know that, you know, Brazilians was for you and Manzilians?
B
Well, I just. I feel like I always tell people, like, you have to think about the waxing industry and what other big billion dollar industry does it tie into? And that ties into the sex industry. I mean, people, let's be honest, people come in for their wax, those intimate areas for a reason, not just for themselves, but, you know, they getting freaky in 24, 48 hours. So I kind of focus on what I knew was going to make me some money and make people happy. Of course.
A
So did you do a Brazilian? Like, like how did you learn?
B
Oh, it took me like the first. I always tell people I worked at European Waxing for six and a half years. Oh, okay. Yeah, I did a little bit of corporate training which people don't know about. So I kind of worked in every position possible and then I went down to manager role and training new associates that got hired. But I feel like a lot of people don't realize this, but that's your money making service. Like people will always come back for that because like I said, not only is it just nice and smooth down there, but it keeps their partners happy
A
and they gonna always come back.
B
Always gonna come back.
A
What was your journey into waxing? Like, did you always know that this was in your lane or.
B
Oh, no, I hated it. I think I working obviously working at European Wax and I probably quit like every other week like in my head.
A
Oh, okay.
B
Which most of us waxers do. But you know, I seen the end game. I actually enjoy the people who I work with. That's what made it like possible to stay. But I also just seem like just being able to interact with so many people and just, you know, you become more like friend family, even though you don't get to treat them outside of the building like friend family. So that's always tell people while they're in this building, they're my friends, they're my families. Once they go on, we outside. I don't know who you is, but.
A
But she inside here, your friend and
B
family and the clerk we open. Can we add to that?
A
Because in the club we're all fam. What do you think your audience connects so much with you and your content specifically?
B
I mean, I just try to have a good time. I try to make sure it's fun and educational. Also. I'm very like, I just kind of speak my mind.
A
Yeah, you do.
B
Don't let sugarcoat too much. I feel like we're all adults. I don't have kids watching my content. Why do I have some little kitties I of the content, but I don't really have kids. It's not made for kids. So I just feel like, you know, if someone feels some type of way, it's like you're an adult, get over it. You know what I mean?
A
I just feel like you also like you're so authentic that a lot of people get drawn to you because they can connect.
C
And.
B
And.
A
And also for me, you're. You're funny.
B
Like, yeah, I try to be.
A
No, you're funny.
B
I naturally try to make. I think laughter is really important. It really does feed the.
A
I see. When I seen your live demo at the conference, I was like, oh, bitch. This is. This is her. She really. That bitch. Like, she was. She made. Yours was probably the most interactive, but funny and authentic.
B
Like, you still learn something, and you still learn.
A
The education was still there. At what point did you realize your content was bigger than just posting waxing videos and was becoming a real brand and business?
B
The point where I got so many dms about just helping other estheticians, you know, perfect their craft and really tap into doing Brazilians. And then also just inspirations, comments from the people watching how, like, someone's like, oh, my God, I just got my first Brazilian from watching your content, and it was easy. And I'm locked in. You know, stuff like that you really want to hear, because then you know what you're doing. It's working, you know?
A
Yeah.
B
So that made me really proud.
A
I want to know the juicy stuff, y', all, because that's why the, like, we're here in bakery.
B
Juicy stuff. I want to know just like.
A
So I want to know juicy as in, like, I really want this to be. Be educational, but juicy.
B
Okay. If you know where you go.
A
What are the biggest misconceptions people have about waxing, especially Brazilian waxing?
B
I mean, if it's me, Elda, I think the biggest one would be that they won't get any ingrowns. Like, once they start waxing. Like, people just think once they get a wax, like, nothing ever happens. It's. It's the way to. To minimize getting ingrowns. But you still get ingrowns. You don't only get ingrowns from pulling out your hair. You can get it from other reasons. Like, you know what I mean?
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. I think that's one of them. I think people don't wait, you know, that 24 hours that they're supposed to.
A
I don't think people wait either.
B
They don't. You can. Then they call you in two days because they got folliculitis. And it's like. And that's how I say. That's how I say the word folliculitis, because I hate to hear it. So I'm always using my hand for that.
A
I really don't think they wait till they.
B
No, they don't. And they're always like, oh, no, graduate all the time. The same night after you wax me, nothing happens. Okay? But when something does happen, please don't call me.
A
And please, I'm sleeping at home. I'm at home. Don't even listen.
B
I'm so quick to block. I will block someone real bad.
A
Have you ever blocked a client?
B
I did. I had one client. She was trying to blame her issues on me, and it's like. And I believe in holding your clients accountable. Like, you know that one client that doesn't buy the exfoliator or, like, you know, the aftercare products?
A
Yeah.
B
Like, you're like, well, like, you know, I'm the first. And I know you didn't buy it, but when you come in, like, oh, my God, I'm so sorry, Susie. Cream cheese. Did you use that exfoliating scrub? 48 hours like I told you to? You. Oh, I didn't get it. Oh, okay, then hang up. Like, at all.
A
I love that. And you know what?
B
And you got to do that with certain clients, the ones that really try to push you over.
A
I. Yeah, I need to learn how to set. I mean, I think I've gotten a lot better with setting my boundaries.
B
I have to have those.
A
But how do you do that with regulars? Like, if they do.
B
Oh, so that's the thing. I haven't taken a new client since 2023, October. So that means that anyone who I take, they understand what it takes to remain a client. Like, I need you to do. Because. Because I do the social media thing and now more other projects that I work on. It doesn't really pay me much to wax anymore. But I love the clients that I do have, and I love, like, servicing them. So it's like, if you can't do what you're supposed to do, especially most of them. Most of them get so much free stuff for me. Do you know what I mean? So it's not like you don't have the products after Care and scrub with, you know. So if you can't do your part, what do you want from me? If you don't care about you, why you want me to get.
A
So, okay, we need to backtrack. So, like, how many days are you working?
B
I work Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Saturday is a short day. Saturday's three hours, and then Sunday is like, three hours as well. And then it's just content. I have days where I take, like, wax models and stuff. And then.
A
So you're off basic?
B
Almost Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Yeah.
A
And how many clients are we taking? A Day on a good day.
B
Well, Thursdays and Fridays, definitely taking 10 to 15, and then about eight on Saturday and Sunday.
A
Wow.
B
Sometimes I like the ones I want to pay extra for the days I'm off. You know, I live three minutes away from my. My shop. I'll be there.
A
I'll be. I'll be there. What are the most common mistakes clients make before or after a wax?
B
Trimming the hair, thinking they're doing you a favor. Please do not touch the coolie pop up. Please. Just leave it. Leave it as it is. They will come in, and they've already taken the lawnmower down there and just went to work. And now it's too short. They can't get waxed. And I'm all about providing. I know I do those videos where I do the short hair challenges.
A
Yeah.
B
But I will never do that on a foodie pop. But, like, I need you to really be at that length for me, so.
A
And I see those videos, and their hair is. I don't even looks like. Doesn't even look like a quarter of an inch.
B
Yeah, it's my favorite content. Purposes only. But I'll try that.
A
It's the wax, too, though. That.
B
Yeah, it's definitely. You have to have a wax as a really good grip.
A
Yeah. What? Oh, you know what? I'm gonna save that question for later. For someone struggling with ingrowns, irritation, or dark spots, where should they start first?
B
They definitely should start with a wax. I mean, if it's really bad, obviously see your dermatologist depending on what it looks like down there. But if it's just normal stuff, extra waxer. I mean, I feel like a really good waxer should be able to analyze their client's skin and give them a skincare routine. That's. That's like, what I'm saying. Don't just tell someone. Exfoliate. No. Like, get down to the root of it. Like, I love waxes that offer rotationals because it really does help correct a lot, you know, and the ones that have the right products, like, I love skinscript. Like those.
A
The glycolic.
B
So it's just like. It's. It's just. But everyone doesn't get skinscript. For me, everyone gets a mixture of stuff. It just depends on what I see, what I think. Like, you know what I mean? I put them on a regimen. If they come back, the next video visit and we see, like, progress. Okay, it's working. Keep it up. If not, I might switch it up or wait one more month to switch it up. Because not every product works for everyone.
A
And. And also, like with the J shows, you need to get someone that actually knows how to do vagacials.
B
Yeah, definitely someone that knows how to do it. It matters. Yeah.
A
Because I've been seeing some vajacials and I'm like, okay, well, that's not.
B
Yeah, some of the girls just steaming the cat, and I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.
A
I didn't want to say it, but it's true.
B
That's what they do. That's all they do. Yeah. I mean, Waxing Lovely has great products. And what I like about them, everything's like, step one, too. Like, you can't mess up. It tells you what to do in the order. So, wait, what is it called? Waxing Lovely. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. Potential products. It's great. First.
A
No, let me just get that one, too.
B
Oh, Lord.
A
What do you wish more estheticians and wax flash waxes understood about proper technique?
B
Well, first, I wish that they know that there's more than one way to do something. I think sometimes someone will watch a video and they'll be like, that's not the way Waxing Queen does it. Because I read comments a lot and I'll be like, oh, no, don't bring me into this. Because there's more than one way to do something. You know what I mean? I feel like as long as with proper technique, as long as you're just doing the main key things, following the hair growth, applying pressure when you're applying wax and removing, you know, certain things like that, and making sure that just looking with your eyes. I always say my videos do not wax with your hands. Also wax with your eyes. Because I would see videos and somebody looks super irritated. I'm like, bro, you can't go over there no more. They just keep going.
A
Yeah. So, you know, also, too. You know what? Rage beats me. Have you seen those? Like, can we blurt this out part? Like, and they do the whole face, bruh.
B
And they just, like, pull it off. Like, you ever watch the movie the Mask with Jim Carrey? Yes, they just.
A
Okay, but like, have you seen when they apply even over their eyebrows?
B
Yes, I just watched one today and. And I thought it was like a horror movie because they put it over the person's nose and lip and I'm like, oh, my God, they can't breathe. Yeah, you know?
A
No, I seen one today where the. Where they did the nose wax and this. She kept trying to pull it, but it got stuck in the. The.
B
The you got to stop using cotton round. Not cotton rounds. Oh, the. Yeah, the things you clean your ears with. Cot swaps.
A
Yes, I'm over that.
B
Yes, over that. For real.
A
I'm just. It rage baits me that people are still doing the.
B
No, but once you just figure out, like, just the key things, follow the hair growth. No one to stop. Apply lots of pressure. Because I get so many complaints about waxes, and I'm like, can you do me a favor and send me, like, a quick video of you, like, so I can see what you're doing?
A
Yeah, yeah.
B
And it's like the application is so sloppy. It's thin here. Well, of course it's going to break and crack. Like, you know, so sometimes you just got to just analyze your technique and you're. As you're doing it, you know, like, I'll see a big glob of wax on there. Like, can you move that wax? You know?
A
Yeah, Yeah. I think really some decisions just pick.
B
And I'm legally blind, so the fact that I see it, I know they can see it. So I'm just saying, what are the
A
difference between someone getting waxed by beginner versus really know what they're doing?
B
I mean, you know what? I've actually seen some beginners, so you can't even tell they're beginners because I always say, fake it till you make it. And you. Yes. Fake it. So you make it. But other than, like, little tiny things, maybe, like, timing. Right.
A
Okay.
B
Yeah. Take a little longer. 30 minutes. I mean, I've heard of somebody doing an hour and a half Brazilian. No. Yeah, no.
A
Yeah, an hour and a half.
B
Hour and a half.
A
There is no fudge.
B
I've definitely heard of that. I promise you. I think. I mean, that's usually the biggest thing is maybe time and then maybe just getting the heating wrong of the temperature of the wax, you know, accidentally, you know, burning somebody a little bit.
A
Have you done that?
B
No, I've never burned someone. I don't. I don't burn coochies.
A
That's very coochies. But never. You never like.
B
I know. No, no.
A
Not even on Brazilians.
B
So I've never burned someone that I know of, and if they got burned, they ain't tell me. But none that I know of.
A
Like, on any part.
B
I've always just, like, thank. Thankful for that.
A
Yeah.
B
Especially with everything happening in the essay community. Like, I can't. I can't lose my life.
A
We'll get into that. I want to know about Manzilian. So, yeah, basketballs the basketballs.
B
I love waxing. I love. I love it. I think it's fun.
A
I think it's.
B
It's obviously a great way to expand your business and services and make, you know, more money as an institution. Because I'm in Florida. I'm close to Miami. I'm not that close to where, like, people might want to drive 45, 50 minutes away, but I think because of the social media, they want to drive 40, you know, 55 minutes away and to come see me. So I do have a lot of Manzilians, and I do a lot of, like, webinars when I can, and classes. Obviously, I'm doing one in Vegas. Make sure y' all show up. Y' all better show up. Or if you do show up, because this might be aired later. Thanks.
A
How. But what about someone that's scared? You know, like, it's such a. For me, I used to do them, and I told this to another guest that we had on the pod, and the reason I just stopped was because something very inappropriate happened.
B
Yeah.
A
But I just feel like. I don't know if I can go back just due to me being.
B
So are you. Are you waxing somewhere with people with you or.
A
No, no.
B
Like, you have staff, Like.
A
Oh, yeah, we have. We have.
B
So I always, like, a couple of tips I always recommend for Menzelians. Always schedule them the day where someone else is there with you.
A
Yeah.
B
And then after, like, the third time you wax that person, you probably can schedule them whenever. You know what I mean? I know a lot of decisions. They're licensed to carry. Pew. Pew. You know, they have. Some have something on you to protect yourself.
A
But what about the. Like when they inject. You know what I mean?
B
Like, well, so, you know, like. Okay, so pre ejaculation is normal.
A
Okay. Yeah, that and I know the difference.
B
Yes.
A
It wasn't that.
B
When it starts get. Listen, when it starts getting a little too crazy, then obviously. Well, like, I'll just be like, hey, Jake, it's time for you to go. Like, you know what I mean? Like, it's weird. Things do happen.
A
No, that's exactly what happened to me.
B
Yeah, they like. And I don't do anything. It was just me, you know, direction is. Is normal. It's just a natural reflect.
A
I think it was. I was like, almost. I was eight months pregnant. Seven months.
B
Yeah. You just. Your maternal instincts kicked in, you know, and I was.
A
And I've done so many men zillions. And I just know how to do it. It's the hard when they get it all, that it's normal.
B
It's.
A
They're a man, you know? But I think that that's never happened to me. So I was spooked. And the fact that there was no apology. There was no, like, oopsie. No. It was just like. Yeah, like a moan almost.
B
Oh, no. Yeah, that. He's got to go. Okay. You know what's crazy? I never had any. Maybe just one male client that I had to, like, tell him to leave. But I have the females that do that.
A
Huh? Yeah.
B
No moaning at all.
A
Sometimes you're lying. There's no girls.
B
And then once I had to look, I'm like, are you having phone sex? And I'm trying to figure out, like, where the moaning is coming. I really had to, like, look at her, and she's like, not on the phone or nothing. And I just saw her like, we gotta wrap this up. Like, I don't care if she got panted down there. Wherever I was done. I was damn. Well, because, you know, I do. You do get women who like women as clients. Yeah. You know?
A
Yeah.
B
You can't tell. You can't just look at somebody, be like, yeah, she gay. You never know.
C
But for.
A
For that to happen in a woman environment, I don't. I have never. Like, that's my first time hearing that.
B
Yeah, it happens.
A
Wow. So I just. But what would you say for someone to be scared and they wanted to get into it, but they're scared like me.
B
Don't. Well, don't. For. For you. I'm going to tell you. Don't let one bad experience ruin it. Your future experiences for, you know, other people and yourself. Right. And for your business and anyone else. You only live once, you know, if you don't like it, then you don't have to do it. But at least you can say you try to do it. You try to do something to, you know, take your business to the next level. So give it a try. You never know. And like I said, just be on the safe side. Always schedule them when someone else is working. So you're never alone.
A
Yeah, I mean, I think I have to ask my man that too, because
B
that's another reason why a lot of
A
people don't do it.
B
Their husbands or boyfriends say no.
A
Yeah.
B
So if your husband. Okay, but if a boyfriend told me that, I got to think about it.
A
Because you're taking my money.
B
Because we're not. We're not officially locked in. You're right, you're right, you're right.
A
Wait, am I Locked in with a child, huh? Am I locked in with a child? You gotta tell me. Am I With no ring. It's a me thing. We're gonna get into it.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
That's a whole nother conversation for me.
B
You're basically married. The baby's a ring.
A
Let's get to business questions. Actually, no, no, let's stick to the education question.
B
Okay.
A
You talk about things like facial hair, like pcos and you know how to say this word? Hercitism, hirsutism.
B
I'm struggling, Okay. I struggle with it. That and hs. Oh, it took me forever to say the word hs. Well, no, like hydrogenitis supportiva. That's how you say it. And I had to learn.
A
Yeah.
B
Especially when you start taking a lot of clients with the condition. I think it's just respectful to know
A
how to know how to say. Yeah. Why was that important for you to include in your content?
B
My pcos? A lot of people don't know this. I actually have pcos. Hey, I don't get too much of the facial hair like most women that you see in my videos, but. But I do get enough where I am plucking a little bit everywhere. And then my mother has pcos now she has a full blown PCOS hair. And then my sister, the oldest, she has PCOS as well. So that's why it was really important for me to showcase that and highlight that a lot because I'm affected as close to home. You know what I mean?
A
Yeah.
B
That is why.
A
And a lot of people don't understand that. Is there, like, ways to handle, like, is it different when people have that type of.
B
But yeah, I think one of the ways is scary for estheticians, like, to communicate to the clients because we all know, like, if you lose weight, it helps. You can't get rid of it unless you, like, laser eventually or something like that. Or electrolysis. But if you lose weight, it helps. If you eat better, it helps. You know what I mean? And then there's other things. Like, I love the Umber by Daylight Hair reducing fade oil. That's what I put all my clients on. And it definitely. I see them less. So the hair. Hair growth is. Yeah. So that every two weeks, or most of them now are every four weeks. Like, I have one girl. Everyone loves her on social media. Like, oh, my God, where is she? I'm like, she got to come in. No, more like that. So.
A
And also, too, is it for pcos? I know, because it's obviously a hormonal issue. Is there any contraindications with it. Like, there's. Because I'm not. I'm not a. I don't. I never wax a client with. Actually, I don't know if I walked with pcos.
B
Well, I definitely recommend someone with PCOS not trying to wax themselves. That's how all, like, the breakouts happen and the excessive shaving because they shave every day.
A
There's a girl on. She's huge on. She uses. I think we talked about it. Did we talk about it? So we talked about this. She got huge on Tick Tock. Free waxing herself. And she's sponsored by Trust Wellness.
B
Yeah. There's two of them. There is. I can't. There's one of them that's actually in Florida and Tampa.
A
Yes, yes.
B
I'm talking about. I love her. I think she does makeup as well.
C
Yes.
B
I can't remember her name, but yeah. Yeah. And then, you know, there's a lot meaning stuff in her comments because she is doing a lot of things incorrect. Sometimes, like, she'll apply this way, and then she'll just, like, pull that way, you know, when she's supposed to pull this way. So people. A lot of estheticians or other people who know they're talking about her in her comments. But, you know, I'd be like, girl, do listen. She's not listening, y'. All. She get a check. Okay, she got a check. But yeah, I feel like trying to watch yourself with pcos. It's not for everyone. And then shaving. Please stop shaving or putting hair. Hair creams on your face, because that's how you get all that hyperpigmentation. And people don't realize it takes, like. It takes this quick for your face to be really damaged, and then it takes this long to repair it.
A
So what do you want women dealing with excess hair growth to hear from you?
B
You guys are beautiful. I actually listen, if I. I am not gonna lie to you. I'm one of those people. I probably would rock it. Like, you know what I mean? But I feel like a lot of times it is really depressing because I've seen that with my sister and my mother, but obviously they don't have to worry about that anymore because they don't have to worry about financially spending the money. That's a problem. Like, you know, that's why I always try to encourage my PCOS girlies that I service. I'm like, hey, would you like me to wax you for free today? Like, you know, for. To make content every. Every person you see in my video It's a free wax. They don't get charged. And that's every service, not just pcos, obviously. I mean, let's be real. Making a little bit of change from the video anyways.
A
Yeah, yeah. But for, for you to even offer that. I know that people take models and they still offer a model fee.
B
No, no, 100 free. And then obviously I try to like camera angle. I don't want to show their actual face, just the area I'm servicing. So that's another thing I do just out of respect for them because I know they still feel some type of way about it. But no, I encourage you guys. Listen, if you have a problem with your PCOS and you don't like it, I just want you guys to safely remove your hair. Okay. Like the shaving every day if you notice like the dark. Some people don't get anything from shaving, but if you notice you're getting something, definitely find a waxer near you or look into laser or electrolysis options.
A
Yeah. And I love that.
B
Yeah.
A
How do you feel, how do you help clients feel comfortable and less embarrassed when they come in for something they're insecure about?
B
So. So okay. I just try to match. I'm always about matching my clients energy. Okay, so let's just say if you came in to get wax and you're like elder, can we skip the butt strip today? I don't know why, but I just feel like a little bubbly. I'm like, oh my God, my stomach was bubbly today too, girl. Like, I just like to let you know, like it's okay. Yeah, like you know how many bubbly booties I wax, girl. Come on, like, let's just get her done, you know? You know, then maybe just something as simple as like offering like the intimate like wipes for them to like if they want to freshen up or whatever. So something like that.
A
Yeah, I feel like if you know and you can have your take on it, but like I don't think you should be a waxer if you're going to go and talk about like that smelly coochie that you just had, you know, like I feel like a lot of people use that and yeah, I
B
see a lot of those videos. Yeah, I watched my client today and she had poop between her cheeks.
A
Like, you know, and I don't like to see that.
B
Yeah, I don't like, look, it's different if we're, if I'm at a show and one person acts as me and it's not on camera. Because we all know, like, of course we get those clients. And it's how you like say it too. Like, you know what I mean? It's just the way of life happens.
A
Like literally, unless it's educational and you're teaching your student about it, like what's to come and what to expect. I think that's kind of, you know. But there was a trend, a viral tick tock of a. It was like maybe an OB office and a bunch of nurses and the client left discharge and they were all
B
like pointing at it and they were
A
pointing at it and taking pictures.
B
They all got fired, I think too. So.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
So something like that is kind of
B
like because you're not, you're not 16, 17 to where maybe the brain isn't fully there and you're not like, you're not aware of what you're doing. We're grown. You should know. It's not, it's not right?
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
So I'm like, okay. Yeah. Glad you guys are fired.
C
Yes.
A
What's something people don't understand about the emotional side of waxing and body? Of. Yeah. Of waxing and body hair.
B
I think. Well, definitely it's Rome wasn't built in a day. You know, I think some of these estheticians out of school, they're like, you know, especially when you see like I, I'm telling you guys, I. Since 2014, I've been doing this. This did not happen overnight. I really hustled and worked my butt off for it. Okay. I think sometimes they're like, oh, she has all these followers. That's how she has all these clients. I promise you that is not the case. Before, I think I was already 80% like captain with clients and I just got that 20% push from social from. But I had to do a lot of work. But I think that's the part that I understand that getting the clients is not easy. You know, it is a draw of a luck. If you post on social media, you should. It's free. Okay. Take advantage of anything. Free. But just the behind the scenes, like the marketing, you become the marketer, you become the salesperson, you become the cleaning leader, you become everything versus going to your friend wax center. You just come in with your little pouch of tweezers and walk out the door anymore. Yeah. So yeah, I think they have to understand that it's going to take work. You have a business plan. A lot of decisions don't have a business plan. They don't know what they want for themselves when they open a Suite in two, three years. I have, I have short term goals and long term goals every year.
A
And going into that, since you started at European, is it smart for an esthetician fresh out of school to go straight solo?
B
I wouldn't. I've seen some that have and it worked out wonders for them. I wouldn't. But one thing I recommend, while you're still in school, act like you have your business while you're still in school. That is important. Start your business. Okay. Like have a business name. Start silently posting on social media. Build up the, you know, the, the momentum for it. Do all of that. So that's how I would treat it.
A
Yeah.
B
But I think you should go get some experience. You should go somewhere else and build your clientele through them.
A
Yes, I highly. Yeah, I think that that's really smart because I feel like a lot of people also compare themselves to why is this person.
B
Yes.
A
Busy. And I'm doing the same exact thing.
B
And I'm not, you know, I see them, I see the post all the time. Oh, I just, it's been four months and I've only seen 10 clients. And then like I try to like look back at a couple of videos of where you just graduated. Honey, like, yeah, fresh out of school.
A
Yeah. And also school doesn't really teach you. Like go take some classes.
B
Yes. You know, and there's so many free classes. Hey, I got free videos on the website. You can. No excuses, period. Okay.
A
You don't got to pay $1,000 for a class that's going to teach you stuff that you can get free free online. Now talking about social media and your content, you post a lot of educational but fun also real life waxing content. How did you find the balance? Something no one tells you is the

A
Now back to Beauty with a twist.
B
Okay, well, one is social media. I realize, especially for TikTok, the people got to be entertained. Like they, in the first five seconds, it's so important. They just scrote like, you know what I mean? There's some times where I say some crazy stuff in the beginning of my videos and there's some time obviously when like the companies want me to do videos. I can't be too, too crazy, you know. But I think it's important just to understand, like, just find the right balance and what kind of audience that you're attracting already. And then just kind of, as you go, you'll switch it up a little bit, but you'll eventually get to that one point where like, this is what the people. Like, this is what the new followers are loving. So you're doing something right. And I just kind of stick with it. I keep it fun, educational, sometimes storytelling in there. Mix it up bit a little bit.
A
Have you ever been canceled?
B
I haven't been canceled, but there was like a moment with like Nicki Minaj fans. The bar.
A
No.
B
So I think I commented on the shade something and, and mind you, I said, oh my God, someone just said, you know what I said, like, you know, and I'm not going to say the comment because it might start over again. And then they started going crazy. I'm like, keyword. Someone said. I didn't say it.
A
Wait, say the comment. I'm going to blur it.
B
Oh, someone just. They were like I said, I'm so dead. Yeah, but like, she also attacks Cardi B's kids. Yeah, yeah, that was horrible said about those things.
A
I know, I seen that.
B
So, yeah, they, you know, they don't care. I think a lot of people just, they just ride for celebrities. Like they're paying their rent, you know, and they started going crazy. They're like leaving bad reviews on Google for me. But remind you, I don't take a new client so it doesn't hurt me. And then.
A
So you're Google.
B
No, that Google removed all those bad comments.
A
Yeah, because they go after everything. I know that they go after the job. They go after everything.
B
Yeah.
A
I've seen people get canceled so badly to where the their job fires them.
B
No, I don't think I've gotten canceled. I think some, not everyone agrees with my type of content and it's fine because my type of content isn't for everyone. But I don't think about the cancel part. Maybe like in the individual's head, I'm canceled West, as one person yeah, yeah.
A
What type of content tends to perform best for you and what surprises you about what goes viral?
B
I think the main content, for sure, people just like to see men get inflicted with pain. So the men content. I just posted my cousin two days ago. He's already at 11 million views. What? Yes. Well, actually it's more than that across all the platforms, but just on Facebook, he's 11 million views. So I think they just like to see the man.
A
What was it? What were you waxing?
B
I'm waxing his face. But I also think I've created something with them that's important, too, when you're a content creator, to have characters like. You know what I mean?
A
Yeah.
B
Like, I have. I don't know if you ever seen one of the videos of my skeleton, Skelly.
A
No, I haven't.
B
Okay, so I'll show you one of those. But Skelly says everything that I wish I can say, but I can't say.
A
So what does Skelly do?
B
Skelly is just like, kind of like the rude employee.
A
I love it.
B
Yeah, I'll show you after. Yeah. So I kind of like, speak vicariously through him and shit. I want to say, but can't say. I have him say, and then I just have. My cousin's been like a character. Like, he's just. He's a real person. Obvious. Skelly's a skeleton, by the way. My cousin, you know, people are looking forward to his skin progress because he had a horrible skin. So he had acne from years of shaving. And then I wax him. Then I have one of my estives. Does they. They do his facial. His skin looks so much better and it's cleared up and people love seeing the progression.
A
Okay, how do you handle weird comments, trolls, or people judging waxing content online?
B
In the beginning, I'm not going to lie. Like, especially when you have so many viral videos happening at once, it was very overwhelming because people don't realize. It's like, I get, like, really nasty comments sometimes. People that call me, like, monkey, like, racist comments. You know what I mean? No. Now I kind of like, you got to really learn. You gotta really learn the game. So I turn anything that's a negative, especially on Facebook, I turn it into. I make it a positive for me because I'll screenshot that person's comment. I'll go to their profile, take a picture. Like, take one of their pictures, and I'll do it as a post because I only pay for that post. I'll make some money. Off your negative comment. That's just. And then obviously my, My peoples, they back me up. They go over there and they start doing their thing too.
A
Why the hell is Facebook so brutal?
B
I think they just think I'm not going to respond. If you're. Especially if you're an esthetician that wants to be a content creator, you have to have thick skin. For sure.
A
These groups are. I was just talking about this on my last podcast.
B
The Facebook groups.
A
Yeah, I. Those are more mean than Tik Tok and Instagram.
B
Yeah. They're supposed to be there for support.
A
Yeah.
B
No, and it's there. It's like being on a Jerry Springer show sometimes. It's wild. So.
A
Yeah. No, no, no, no. Do you ever worry about putting too much waxing content, learning or online or has being bold actually helped your business?
B
No, I, I don't. I don't. I don't gatekeep. You know, the people want to know that. People don't know that. People want to see, they're gonna see. And it's definitely helped me. I'm. I'm very fortunate that I get to. I mean, I have no kids, so that. Thank God for that. But I'm very fortunate that I do get to travel across the US to different shows and different little private events, you know, and I do get to do things that people don't even know I've done because of NDAs and stuff. But I'm very fortunate, you know, for the opportunities that I present. I'm very humble as well. I tell people time. You don't think I don't give out. I get so much pr, so much free stuff. Free wax, free. Sometimes there's a lot. And I just did like one of a pre birthday giveaway, just gave away a bunch of stuff to the people that support me in my business because I think it's important to give back to those that are helping you move along in life.
A
But do you feel like if you overly share, like if you ever, like, obviously they're going to get it for free. Free, right.
B
Yeah.
A
But if you ever want to come up with like maybe like a master class or a class and then you promoting it for free, like does that.
B
No, I don't think that. I mean, I do. I. I have times where there are some stuff that are monetized, you know, because let's be real, free doesn't pay the bills.
A
Yeah.
B
A majority of it can be free, but free doesn't pay the bills. So there are sometimes where things have to be monetized. For certain reasons because I have to benefit from it. It's my time being taken away and I could be making money servicing real clients, you know, but at the most, most of the time I get it, I guess just from being that new esthetician, not getting a lot of help and guidance because they sure as I don't teach it to you in school, most of the schools. So I kind of know. And that's why I love what I do. But at some point, because everything in America going up, baby, I get it. You know, free got to turn into maybe like 599 or so. We'll figure it out. But I know either way it's still going to be reasonable and affordable for estheticians that need it.
A
Yeah. And also to the, the industry right now is interesting as there's a lot of, you know, controversial things that are happening, especially in the waxing industry. And there's brands that are selling products that now the consumer can buy outside of the shaping room or their spa. Do you agree with what's happening?
B
I think that before I decide to buy anything, especially something that I, I will call like my, like where I work at is going to be their, it's permanent home. I do my research. I'm really big on fact checking, if that makes sense, especially when controversy is happening. So sometimes estheticians just jump in, like, they just watch a video, they think like, oh, that's the truth.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
It's like, no, baby, I'm like Inspector Gadget. We finna look into this some more. And then you find out like, oh, hey, I understand that person's video. But if they would have just looked, they would have noticed that this brand always sold, you know, retail here and there. Do you know what I mean? And be like, oh, hey, this brand switched up a lot to accommodate estheticians, you know. So when estheticians are saying like, oh, we help build this brand, first of all, you're buying wholesale. The brand's actually taking a loss. People don't realize that about wholesale. You help build a brand. Yes, but the brand's taking a loss when they sell wholesale. Now the goal is obviously every month for you to need to purchase more products. And that's how it should be. You should be selling products to your clients. And if you can't sell products, you can't just think you're going to put them on a shelf and it sells. You have to sell it. If you can't do that, I don't know what to tell you. I have no problem selling a lot of these brands that are in retail, like I. They fly off my shelf because I know my clients need it. I don't want you to want it. I know. I need you to know that you need it. Damn. Yeah.
A
Damn.
B
So if you rely on pretty products and pretty boxes to sell for themselves, that's not going to happen.
A
And, and you know, the. I think that why a lot of people got bothered because, you know, they're also promoting shaving.
B
Well, you don't wax every. Not every client is a full body waxing client.
A
And to be honest, I don't wax my legs.
B
I shave them. I don't have. I wax twice a year on my legs. But if I did that hurts. I would definitely be shaving my hurts. I would definitely be shaving if I grew hair out like that. If you know. But yeah, that's another thing too is like, okay, here's the thing. If you know your clients shaving with that Dollar Tree 125 shaving gel, what did you not prefer them to purchase? Something that's going to work hand in hand with like protecting your skin until you are ready to convert to waxing your legs. You know, you have a look. I look like I'm one of those people. I'm such a deep thinker. I'm an overthinker, but I'm also a deep thinker.
A
Yeah.
B
And I look at everything. So I would retail that.
A
Yeah. I just feel like this is such a huge, huge, huge, controversial thing and it's, it's. It's like fog. Like, what do you say? Like, how do you even. Like. I mean, I can get. I can get both aspects. But in the end, I really think that if, you know, this brand has been already retelling it, then what is.
B
I think that people just look at it the wrong way. There's one girl, the things fly off her shelf. The shaving gels.
A
Huh. She's retelled it.
B
Yeah. You can retail it as waxer. That's another thing people don't realize. We're not encouraging to go to this place to buy the shaving. You can retail it as a waxer. Make sure your clients are using something safe while they're shaving. Yeah. Yeah.
A
Speaking of trends.
B
Trends.
A
What's what? Like, is there a trend that you're sick of? Like, honestly, like, I know we. I, I always come up with this.
B
I think I'm, I'm sick of the wanting to go viral trend. I will see. I, like, I will see one person Post something, and the next thing you know, you see 100 more videos talking about the same thing. Right. Just because they see that that person posted it and they're trending with it. And my thing is, like, you only got 10 clients for the month. You're posting the wrong shit. Like, you supposed to be posting to get clients. Like, what are you doing? Like, you know what I mean? Mind you, you haven't posted anything in five months, but now you want to post of this kind of video. Like, this is why you still got 10 clients for the month. Girl, let's get it together. Let's post. Let's post. What makes sense.
A
Yeah. So going into more personal and, you know, like, powerful, what's been the most rewarding thing from your career now that you've, you know, grown so much online?
B
Yeah.
A
And everyone knows who the waxing queen adventure is. Okay, don't play with it. You know who she is. She didn't need an introduction. Okay.
B
I think the most rewarding thing for me is being able to help other estheticians every time I meet someone, especially at trade shows. Oh, my God. You're the reason why I went to school. Like, I love hearing that. And I always want people to go to school for the right reasons. Like, I never. Like, you ever see those people? Like, oh, I make a hundred thousand dollars a year, and then someone's like, oh, I'm gonna go to static school now. Like, just to make money. Don't do that if it's not already instilled in you. You don't have any kind of passion for this stuff or just you're not even curious about it. Do not go to school. So I love when those people are. The people decided to go to school that watch my videos because they just thought it was. You know, they love the way it made people feel. They love the way the skin looked after. Like, you can tell those are gonna be the good esthetician. You know what I mean? Because they have a reason.
A
They're hungry.
B
Besides money.
C
They're.
B
Yeah, they want it.
A
I just, you know, speaking about the whole 100, the whole six figure thing, it kind of drives me nuts when a person posts like, I am a six figure. This great. But now you're giving the misconception that you can come in here and just
B
make six figures right away. You're a six figure. But you've been. You've been doing this for eight years. You better be six figures. You know what I mean? So.
A
Yeah, I don't know. I don't Know, I like, I think I'm speaking for myself because I used to post how much I made. You know, how much I make in a day as a waxer, as I've
B
never done one of those videos. No, all the time. How much? You don't mind me asking, how much money do you make? I'm pleased to matter. I'm not going to answer because you're not going to make the same thing. We're like, especially if we're doing two different things, you know.
A
What do you wish estheticians knew before they start offering any waxing services?
B
I wish that they knew that it's not just wax on, wax off. There's more to it. I have estheticians. You ever see those posts in the groups where they'll post a picture of someone having a histamine reaction and they don't know what it is? They're like, oh, my God, what is this time? I wish that they did the extra work. Please do the continuing education. It's so important, especially when a lot of it's free. Like, there's so many free resources. So I wish they knew that. I wish I knew to join. I know sometimes it's really bad and, like, negative in the face, like the Facebook groups, but there is still a lot of support in them, so I wish they would also join those groups. They do help, you know. Yeah, so that too.
A
But like, any advice for, like, upcoming waxers really trying to get. Because you go to these trade shows, right? I'm gonna give you an example. You go to these trade shows and to me, I think there's a bunch of mean girls. It's like, you have the, like, content creators, you have the OGs, you have the. And then you have a lot of newbies that are going like, oh, my God, I've never been on a trade show. But they're kind of scared to go up to, you know, like, oh, I don't buy.
B
I'm friendly, you know, but some of
A
them just have like a. Like.
B
Yeah, I mean, some people just have resting faces.
A
The RBFs are crazy.
B
Yeah. So I always tell people just go up. You never know. I mean, that's. I had someone one time, they. They asked my girl Jojo, like, hey, can I go say hi to her? No, girl, no.
A
You need to tell them about the story about what happened to you today.
B
Oh, it was that we were eating after we got our breakfast, we sat down and eat, and a lovely couple came and they were, you know, they were like, you know, can we sit here and they sat there, and so I'm just talking. And she's like, what are you guys doing in Vegas? And she's like, oh, I'm here at the Be well show. And I'm like, oh, cool. Are you an esthetician? And she's like, yeah. I'm like, oh, cool. What do you do? She says, wax. I don't know if you have any waxers. You're excited to be here. She's like, oh, my God. Waxing queen. I'm like, oh, well, hey, bitch. It was me. Like, you know, so she was. And she's just like, oh, my God. Oh, my God. And so that was really nice. Sitting there chatting with me all 10 minutes and had no idea. Because usually they recognize the voice. But when I get to Vegas, I will say my voice gets a little raspier, you know, because of the. Yeah, I do. I drink lots of water. Trust me. But yeah, I think just go up there and say I, you know, and if somebody rub you the wrong way. Okay. You know, unfollow.
A
I don't know.
B
That's what I would do.
A
So before I want to get into these funny ones, because these. This questions are.
B
Here we go.
A
Okay. What's one waxing opinion you have that would probably start a debate in the beauty industry?
B
What's one waxing opinion that would start
A
a debate in the beauty industry? Come on, give me Elder. You gotta.
B
I mean, I'm trying to think of the waxing queen. Eventually, she gotta spill some juice. Okay. People thinking they don't have to do cleanups on the butt strip, like, just. I think European Watson has trained so much people just to think they only have to go over the butt trip once. Listen, you better get down there and take a look, okay? Because if I still look, if there's irritation, obviously, I'm not waxing over. I'll explain that to the client. Yeah, yeah. But if there's still some hairs in there, baby, we wax it up. We're doing a cleanup.
A
So European tells you not.
B
Yeah, they tell you not to. I mean, that's one of the things that we let. When I was corporate training, they would say, like, oh, you know, don't like no cleanups on the butcher. I'm like, what if there's still hair in there? Yeah, so.
A
Well, yeah, because, I mean, I never worked at European, but girl, I go. I go over that, of course, because I needed. I don't like my clients going to pay. They're Brazilian. They're going to come, they're going to, you know, everything's going to be off.
B
Yeah.
A
What's the craziest, funny, most unforgettable waxing story that you can share?
B
So I was a European wax center, and y' all know it's 15 minutes, and that late policy is nine minutes. So someone walks in, like, at eight minutes, you only got seven minutes, technically, to wax them.
A
Oh, see, I didn't even know that.
B
Yeah, like, if you're running overtime, you could, like, run out and tell the girls, etc.
A
Yeah.
B
But mind you, if your schedule is someone who was just like a. They don't care who they see. Like, now they're gonna move them over to another wax because you're running behind, and now you're missing out on your potential earnings. You know what I mean?
A
So even if that's for the whole body, like, if you're doing full legs, it's. Is it.
B
No, no. Full legs, 30 minutes. But, like, a Brazilian is 15 minutes.
A
Okay.
B
So the lady comes in and she gets undressed, and I think I've seen her once, you know, she doesn't care what she sees. She just likes to get an appointment. And she's pulling. She's like, oh, one second, I got to get this out. I'm like, you know what? I'll, you know, wait for her. And I'm thinking maybe she's getting a stress ball on her phone. Yeah, yeah. She pulls out a gingerbread cookie cutter.
A
A what?
B
Like, you know, the cookie cutter when you're making cookies. And I swear to you, she thought she was about to just place it on there and me just wax around it and give her a gingerbread man. No, this is probably, like December 1st, by the way.
A
Like. Like. Like the cooking one.
B
Like, yeah, the cooking one. Yeah. She had the. The little cookie cutter. And then so I. So I'm like. I'm looking at her. I don't remember her name, but let's just call her Cheryl. I'm like, cheryl, what is. What is this? She's like, oh, I just sound like it's the holidays. We can just do, like, a little design. I'm like, cheryl, your options here. European wax center, we taking it all off. You get a landing strip or you get a triangle, and that's it.
A
Oh, what?
B
That.
A
That's crazy.
B
Cookie cutter.
A
Oh, my God. Let's name this cookie cutter. Wow. That did not. That was the best story.
B
People think you can do any.
A
No.
B
That's why I always say I'm a licensed esthetician, not a freaking magician. That's what oh, that started from.
A
So that's good. That's good.
B
On a shirt.
A
You got to trademark that.
B
Yeah, that's another lot of trademarking happening.
A
Yes, that's that, huh? If you could tell every first time Brazilian client one thing before they lay on the table, what would it be?
B
Stopping a little bitch. And I'm just joking. I probably. No, I probably would tell. Like, you know what I tell them all the time is like, you know, hey, remember, you are a bad pass. Like, you know, you about to kill this. We're about to make you nice and smooth, and we're gonna get you on a waxing journey that you're not gonna forget. Like, I really like saying positive things to those first timers. They need to hear it. You know what I mean? And then you, of course, you just let them know you're going to talk them through the whole thing. Now, the second visit, that's different. You did get your ass. Come on now. Like, you're not a rookie no more. Yeah, let's go. But the first visit is all really about being their cheerleader throughout the whole service.
A
But you know what? I have, like, a lot of. Not even just, like, I have a lot of my clients watch this too. Like my pod.
B
Yeah.
A
And it's. They were like, it's so informational and it's so like, not even just business, but with clients and all this. A lot of clients that come in when they first see me, they're like, I'm just so scared to show my, you know, my vagina to you. Like, and. And also too, like when I. Because I train students too, I tell them, you. Every new client that you get probably has a story behind with whatever happened.
B
Yeah, some of them, they were like, you know, essayed. Yeah, of course I get that.
A
And they're coming to you vulnerable and like, letting it all out. So you kind of have to be funny. But also make it a safe place.
B
Yeah, I think it's important to, like, you can kind of understand, like, if you're gonna have that, like that shy client, then I try to be shy with them. I try to just match.
A
I like that.
B
Hey, I try to match their energy. If you got that crazy loud client. Okay, I'm crazy loud today, so whatever I need to be.
A
You know how many people I am when I. When every time I'm booked, how many personalities I could change. And that's. I think that's a good talent of mine.
B
No, no, I become so many people. You just. But I think it's most important too, for those new clients when they come in, that they just understand. Like, I always like to say when they tell me, like, oh, my God, girl, I'm so scared. I'm like, girl, don't worry. You are the 300,000 person I'm waxing, like, throughout my career just to let them know, like, I really do this. I'm not new to this. I'm true, true to this. For real.
A
So, okay, what does it actually take behind the scenes to run a successful waxing brat online and in person?
B
I think because people don't realize it's just me and my niece. I used to have both my nieces working for me. Now it's just one. Every now and then, my best friend comes and help me out if I need him. But I think it just takes planning. I'm like a big planner. Everything has to be planned out. Some may say I have, like, a little OCD with planning. I believe in business plans and refreshing them as I go. Like, especially when I hit a goal because now the goal is bigger. Like, you know, I already hit that goal. So I think just. Just planning everything out and having a business plan for every part of it. Like, I told myself, by the end of this year, I need to have 1 million followers on TikTok and about 20k away. I think that's possible. So now. Now the videos of, like, listen, I need y' all to follow me about to come out, please. So, I don't know, I mean, it doesn't really matter. The number doesn't really matter to me, but it's just. I feel like the first million is very, very, like, emotional.
A
Yeah, yeah. So when I hit my 100k, I was emotional.
B
Yeah.
A
And that's just 100k because it's like,
B
you think about it, you're like, oh, my God, this much. People watch my video. Yeah, yeah.
A
And, you know, when I first heard of you, I think it was. It was through TikTok. And again, the whole connecting your. You're so authentic online. That is really, like. I feel like a lot of people don't know how to be authentic. And they go and chat GPT, whatever the fucking script, they're supposed to say,
B
no, I watch the Matrix. I do not trust the machine girl. I try to be listen. And there's nothing wrong with using chat GBC guys. I always tell people, you can use it for guidance. You know what I mean? Like, if chat GBT gives you a script how to, like, redo it in your own way, don't just do it like, verbatim, you know?
A
But since you're always constantly posting, have you ever felt a moment where you wanted to quit posting or felt, bruno,
B
I definitely take days off. I mean, like, now in Vegas. Today's the second day. I haven't posted anything. I do believe in just taking that time for myself. Sometimes is really important to take, like, mental breaks, because it is. It's more exhausting virtually than it is physically. Yeah. So I give my brain a rest, and like I said, there's so much going on in this head with the overthinking that sometimes I just got to stop.
A
Yeah. And I feel like social media again, like, it's a job in itself. Like, I can't be constantly. Like, the moment I'm done with work. I was just telling this on my last pod, but when I'm clocked in, right. And I have that 30 minutes on the break, I'm posting whatever I gotta post. Because as soon as I'm off, I'm in mom mode. I want to go home. I don't want to do nothing with social.
B
I agree. Yeah.
A
You know, it's just. It's.
B
If you ever see a video with me not talking, and it's just the music, just know I didn't feel like talking that night. I had a bad. I had a bad day. And y' all give music. Y' all don't give me.
A
So what advice would you give? I don't know if I asked this, but what. What advice would you give for a waxer who's amazing at what they do but is scared to show up online?
B
Oh, just do it. I mean, I'm faceless, by the way. You don't have to show. Like, I actually hate being on camera. The fact that I'm here for this crazy girl, like, but I actually don't like to be on camera. Not because I think I look scary or anything. I just don't. I'm just always. I'm just an introverted person. And people like, I know you lying. Like, I'm really introverted. I don't like to do nothing.
A
She did say that.
B
I like to just be home with my dog and my tv, and that's it.
A
You know what? Every time I see your dog, I'm like, oh, yeah, yes. Super cute.
B
But, yeah, just. You have to show up. I believe, like, social media really does work for most people, but you don't know if it's going to work. The fact that people are like, oh, I've been calling and I ain't got no Clients from it. Okay. But you act like you invested money and it's free to post on social media. Just continue doing it, you know?
A
Yeah. And. And also too, like again, I think people get scared though because of like, you know, the constant hate that there is and the backlash.
B
Yeah, I think like, I know right now one of the controversy things is like the Brazilians posting before and after pictures to get clients. I think like, just do what you feel like you need to do. Just I think like on Instagram, like just do that, like pre warning like this, you know, before and after Brazilians and they control.
A
And then the scroll.
B
Yeah, I think that's what I was gonna say. But I also think like, you know, you just don't know until you do it. Like for me, I never really wanted clients from posting on social media. I was just sitting up that house and ask you. I couldn't do nothing. You know, it was Covid. And then it was just kind of like I went to sleep, I posted a video, woke up and it's like, oh, 16 million views. Like, what happened? And so that's another thing is important. When you have that kind of viral videos going, you have to keep posting because people, they like what they're watching, they're going to go see what else is on there. So you have to make sure you continue posting. That's why.
A
So do you think that's what helped you grow? Like, continue?
B
Yeah, being consistency consistent. Now I'm at a point where like, like I haven't posted for two days. Probably people inboxing me see if I'm still alive or something. But I get to that point where like it becomes a fix for some people.
A
Yeah, yeah. But then you know what? Sometimes it hits for me when I don't post for like two days and then the first story I post. Why does it have so many views? Because it's like the first shown one on the. And I feel like that's a hack too. Like if. But I see some estheticians post a lot.
B
A lot. Like 10 videos in a day. Yeah, yeah.
A
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
I mean, do what you got to do. I listen.
A
I can.
B
Out of those videos, one definitely will do well, one or two. So I encourage it.
A
Yeah.
B
If you have the time.
A
You guys, let me just say one more time. We are in Vegas and Eldon does not go. She's. She doesn't show face. So the fact that she's on Beauty with the Twist.
B
Yes. Hey, I'm. And I'm tired. I've been setting up boots all day. Two different companies. By the way, I want to know
A
about the company that you're with. Black Coral.
B
Yeah, Black Core. Actually, it's. They have a soft. I, I definitely have a soft spot for them because they were the first company to believe in me as a content creator. So my first collaboration ever. Now, what I like about them too, is that I'm able to give them criticism, especially when something's going down and they, they actually listen and try to change it. Like, you know what I mean?
A
Like the consistency, if it's ever offering, well, that.
B
I've never had an issue with that. But like the whole, like, you know, now they're not shipping from Hawaii and so the transition that they had to do from Atlanta, they didn't do. Like, you need to do a post because people need to know whether packages are delayed, you know, So I told them any future changes, you have to do a post. Anyone who you have, you have everyone's email. Do an email blast, letting them know, like, you know what I mean? Yeah, something like that.
A
So they reached out to you first and did they offer you to send free wax and you make a video or how do. How does someone, you know that's joining the industry get a brand to work with?
B
Well, I believe in. If you like, if you actually like a brand, don't just start sending a message to everybody. The brands that you actually know you like, just do like a quick copy and paste. I will send it through Tik Tok. I was. Any kind of way I can send it to make sure they see it. I would send it, letting them know, hi, I really love your brand and you know, I am a content creator. Or just say, I am a growing content creator. Because people, they will look at your followers most of the time, some of them. And I would love to collaborate with you, you know, like, even if it means for the first two, three months you're doing stuff for free, like, that's what you got to do sometimes, you know what I mean? Especially if they sent you a free product, you know, So I think that's really important. A lot of people don't take advantage of the fact that these brands are always looking for more people to post their stuff, more eyes on it. Social media is becoming a huge, huge thing. I mean, it's already huge, but it's just evolving more. So, yeah, just reach out to the brands you like. What's the worst they can say no?
A
You know, did they reach out to you and, and automatically just offer you
B
like, so they Reached out to me because I was just doing the Brazilians on YouTube at first. I wasn't really focusing much on too much content stuff. And they wanted a video, video. So I did a video for them and actually did really well. And then they wanted me to become a brand ambassador for them. And so that's how we got that done. And then we started doing a few shows together. So, like, my first time in Vegas, every time I come to Vegas, it's always a black horowac. So I always, always hold Vegas on for them.
A
So are you allowed to work with any other?
B
Of course. I'm my own person. I work with who I want to work with. It's just a matter of who reaches me first and inquires, you know, that's all I say.
A
And because a lot of brands are very. You can't work with anyone else.
B
Yes, I think I do get some brands that try to offer me that, like, you know, like, oh, can you work exclusively for us? And I just explained to them I'm a content creator and I love for my page to look alive and I can't work with a brand that just has like one color wax, you know, because I like the different variety.
A
Yeah.
B
I'm also a person that love doing. I really genuinely love doing the wax reviews. So estheticians can see it from my point of view. Because I always tell people, if you like what you see on camera and you want to try it, buy one wax. Like one bag first. Because I think sometimes, like, I don't want someone to go buy £20 and I. You don't like it because what I love, you might not like. I'm also a wax addict, so you gotta keep that in mind.
A
Soft wax or hard wax?
B
Oh, hard wax. I just, I don't. I wouldn't mind trying to learn soft wax. I just feel so slow with it. I feel like a turtle.
A
And that's huge because Softbox is in like it.
B
I know I'm trying to tap in, but I just. My brain is not allowing me to
A
because I'm a hard wax girly through and through, honey. Like, I know how to. I've been. That's the. I used to soft wax, but just hard wax just took it for me. And I've been hard wax since, you
B
know, I just like, you know, software. Once you go hard, you never go back.
A
But a lot of people, what they've been doing are, you know, just doing soft wax on the top and then, yeah, hybrid. Know hybrid waxing and then just doing the Rest with hard wax.
B
You know, just hard wax. Do I. Do I have cans of soft wax at the shop? Of course. Because as a content creator, I'm always willing to do a soft wax video every now and then to play around with it.
A
And they sent her so much pr. Y'. All, come on.
B
Yeah, I just. I just gave away, like, 10 soft wax cans. Yeah, but. Yeah, but I'm gonna. I'm gonna learn one day.
A
Yeah, one day.
B
Yeah.
A
Well, thank you for coming on.
B
Of course. I wouldn't we dare go anywhere else.
A
Listen, we usually end up before. Our old seasons would always end with the quote. But we're gonna let you, if you have any last minute things you want to let estheticians know or message.
B
Of course. I want every esthetician who's watching to know that please do not give up. I know it may seem like it's hard right now. Just you have to understand, especially the new estheticians right now, that times are just hard right now in the country.
A
Yeah.
B
Which means that it was already hard before this happened. Now it's even harder for you now that has happened. So just take your time. Please post your content market yourself. Okay. Because you need to do that super important. And just don't give up. Like, give it at least a year. Like, exhaust all your options. I never like to see people close their businesses down. I just. It just. It hurts. Like, exhaust all your options before you make that decision. Even if it means you need to own your suite and still work somewhere else part time. You got to do what you got to do. That's what I had to do.
A
So I love that. And yeah, you're right. Times are tough. And where we're at right now in life is. Everything is so expensive. Yeah.
B
No one knew it would grow like this.
C
Yeah.
B
It just happened, like, overnight.
A
And. But, you know, they always say the beauty industry never ends or fit. Of course, people, it will always be there.
B
Yes. There's so many. Everyone walking by you has hair. Even if it's an old, fragile person, they got hair somewhere. So you just have to remember that you have potential clients everywhere you go. You just have to take action and figure out how you're going to get them into your wax suite, period.
A
We're going to end it there, folks. Well, thank you so much.
B
All right.
A
And we hope to see you on my next one.
B
Of course.
A
Bye.
