4d ago01:09:53Tap to summarizeThe Imjärvi Incident | Paranormal Podcast This week, we headed to January 1970 in the frozen forests of southern Finland to cover the Imjärvi UFO incident, where two experienced, credible cross-country skiers named Aarno and Esko stopped for a rest in a clearing and watched a metallic disc descend from a glowing cloud just meters above the ground, accompanied by a buzzing that wouldn't quit and a beam of intense white light that scorched a perfect circle into the snow. Standing inside that beam was a three-foot-tall pale being in a green coverall with a hooked nose, claw-like fingers, and a black box aimed directly at Arno that pulsed harder and harder until colored sparks shot out of the snow and drifted slowly across both men. What followed the encounter is where things really went sideways. First from Rebecca in Texas, who as a terrified little girl forced to watch Salem's Lot by her dad couldn't shake the vampires long enough to sleep, prayed desperately in the dark, and then had an experience in that darkness that she still remembers in perfect detail decades later. Then we got into Chloe's story, which genuinely had us putting the phone down — she traveled to Slovakia to help refurbish an old building that turned out to have been a Nazi stronghold during WWII, was given a candle and a warning by a local woman who claimed she could see what was still lingering there, and then fell asleep in an isolated outbuilding with music in her ears and felt two cold hands grab both her ankles and drag her down the bed. We went through every possible theory for what Sam could have been — a very method-acting, very high Ringo Starr filming a movie nearby, an alien scout afraid of humans who found children to be the least threatening study subjects, and Charlie's personal favorite, a Fae entity operating by his own bizarre logic in a liminal space between dimensions, which explains the bridge, the enchantment, the mechanical speech, and why the child just was not scared at all. Then we got into a longtime CIA-connected UFO researcher claiming the US government has bodies from four different alien species including Grays, Nordics, Reptilians, and Insectoids, followed by creepy security footage from an oil field in Argentina where workers have been reporting screaming in the night and a traffic cone that very confidently moved itself while nobody was around — local folklore pointing to a duende, a mischievous goblin.
