Riley Bray
It's bigfoot collectors club with michael and ryan killing. I know a story of highest rangness or two. Let's do this.
Michael McMillan
Welcome to the Glams Castle boys. An ab space.
Riley Bray
Yes.
Michael McMillan
Devoted to all things glams. Don't get mad at me. I know this isn't a real accent. I'm just.
Riley Bray
I haven't.
Michael McMillan
I haven't even gotten feedback yet from that episode.
Riley Bray
You already.
Michael McMillan
I'm just saying. I'm just already know people are gonna be like, it's glams. It's not glams. But you know.
Riley Bray
You know what? When we finished recording that, I just was sitting alone in my room. I just kept going, glarbs, glarbs, glarbs. Just to myself.
Michael McMillan
It should be called Glamis Castle. If you don't know what we're talking about. Listen to last week's episode already. Hi, everybody. Welcome back to B. That is Bigfoot Collectors Club, the show where we talk to amazing guests about their personal paranormal history and share stories of high strangeness. I'm your host, Michael McMillan. With me always is righteous. Riley.
Riley Bray
Oh, Riley Bray. What's up, y'? All?
Michael McMillan
That was submitted by resident drow over at. No, it was a resident drought.
Riley Bray
That's a raven rush.
Michael McMillan
That was a raven rush. Thank you. Resident drought was last week, I believe. Thank you, Raven Rush. That over on our Discord, which you can become a part of and talk about the show with all your new friends. We give you the Discord link when you sign up for bcc.supercast.com. it's just one of the few fun things that unlocks in your life when you join us over there.
Riley Bray
It's the nicest corner of the whole Internet.
Michael McMillan
It's the only corner of the Internet I want to look at these days. I'll tell you that much. Yeah, that's for sure. We have an end of the month L Files episode. No guests. The guests. Are you guys okay? The listeners. Because you have written into us, the podcast host, about weird things the GLMS boys, about weird things that have happened to you in your lives. And when I say we're diving in this week, I mean dive in back in. Because, like last month I found some oldies that had not been opened in our inbox yet.
Riley Bray
Oh, nice.
Michael McMillan
All right, so we're trying. We're trying to catch up with the old stuff. It's. We will keep. Want you to send. We want you to keep sending in new stuff to Bigfoot Collectors Club gmail dot com. And if you have old stuff that you've still been waiting a long time to be heard on the show, just bump it back up, copy, paste, send it to us again and write L files, thank you. In the. In the. You don't have to write L files, but you could do it to write L files. Thank you. And then I'll know. He'll be like, l files, thank you. Then I'll know that. Been waiting patiently. Oh, my God. By the way, speaking of waiting.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
And people's patience. I had to go to the Social Security offices in Hollywood last week to deal with some stuff.
Riley Bray
Brutal.
Michael McMillan
And with my father's passing and basically I'm trying to, you know, get dad's tax documents all together. And I. I like, had an interaction with a character from Zootopia. Like the. Like, it was like a stock character. Like, they called me to the window. I sat down. And the borest woman alive who had no time for anything that I was presenting, glaring at me through the glass. Like, she's like, how can I help you today? And I'm like, oh, I need this. And I have my. All my files and everything. Just the human eye roll that this human being made me immediately feel like I just apologetic for being there, you
Riley Bray
know, just in trouble. Just generally.
Michael McMillan
It was. It was literally like they had to print something out. And they're like, you know, you're supposed to make an appointment for this. And I was like, oh, I'm sorry. I called the Social Security offices. They said to just come down and then just dead stare. Dead pants, stairs. They get up and walk away. And then be like, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And I'm like, sorry. They're like, wait here a few minutes. I'm like, okay. You know, wow.
Riley Bray
And you're like, sorry my dad died. And they're like, yeah, sorry all these people's dads died. All right.
Michael McMillan
Exactly. That's how they're. They're running things over there.
Riley Bray
That's a rough day. That's a rough day.
Michael McMillan
It was. It was. It was like out of a. Yeah. It was like a scene from a movie.
Riley Bray
It's like that, like, waiting room.
Michael McMillan
Yes.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Yes.
Riley Bray
Take a number.
Michael McMillan
That's what it felt like.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
That's what that's a lot of what like April has felt like. It's fine. It's okay. It's just life. Thanks, baby. Speaking of doing business, we should do a little bit of business with our club scouts because a little club housekeeping. Things are changing around here. Now, I know a phrase like that sometimes sends shivers down your.
Riley Bray
I got anxiety by the way you said that. I can only imagine what the listeners listen.
Michael McMillan
It's just the end of an era. Okay, but one that means more to us than it does you guys and gals and non binary friends. So this episode, at least by this episode, it marks the end. Bigfoot Collectors Club partnership, our partnership with Q Code and Wood Elf, the network that's hosted us for the last three plus years of the show. Four years of the show. Great people, great network. Big thank you to our dear friend Ryan Middledorf, who brought us over there from campfire.
Riley Bray
The best guy.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, Ryan is the best. He's the secret force behind Bigfoot Collectors Club. He's the one that plucked us from obscurity and gave us our first network on Campfire.
Riley Bray
That's true.
Michael McMillan
And then brought us over to Wood Elf, where we really grew the show. But times are changing, our goals are changing. And what Riley and I are going to be doing is we are striking back out. We're going full independent again with the podcast. That's right. And what that means is there will still be ads in the podcast. As you listen to them, they sound like radio ads. It's the stuff that you hear. You know, most podcasts have now, but that means that we won't be getting like any sponsored ad reads like we've had before, where characters like, oh, who was the ghost? The southern gentleman ghost that nobody ever acknowledged, you can't even remember his name from Miracle made sheets were born. So, yeah, so we're basically, we're just gonna be going. We're going solo again. We're going networkless, striking out on our own. It's literally the bcc. Are these two glams boys right in front of you? So. So that statute. And so what does that mean for you? Nothing really. You. You'll just download the show. Like, you'll keep downloading the show and you don't need to resubscribe to anything. You're really not going to notice a difference.
Riley Bray
You wouldn't have even known if we didn't.
Michael McMillan
You wouldn't even know. We're just. We're just telling you. We just are updating you. What's. What's. We just wanted in the life of the show.
Riley Bray
Anxiety. Real quick.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, I want to inject it with a little bit of.
Riley Bray
Yeah, a little hit of cortisol.
Michael McMillan
Now I will say so for the Riley and I have been talking about plans for the show and things that we're working on next month, May, in order to get our house in gear here and start up the next chapter of the show. The main feed's gonna go dark for the whole month of May. Super cast will still be happening. So May bonus episodes will be released three episodes in May. Your ad free up. Well, there won't be any new ad free episodes, but the ad free classics will be happening in the month of May. So if you are a super, super cast subscriber, you're going to get your bonus episodes next month. If you only listen to the free feed, there will be no new episodes of BCC in the month of May. Now we might throw a Patreon or, excuse me, Other side unlock over there.
Riley Bray
So many things.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, it's been many things. Or we might do another super cut of a deep dive series like we did. But. But in general, there will be no new episodes over on the main feed in May. Then starting in June for the summer, running through the summer, we will be coming back in June and new episodes on the free feed are going to happen in every other Wednesday. So we're scaling back, at least for now, the pace of production so we can get caught up on stuff and catch our breaths. So there will be new episodes new on the free feed, but it'll be every other Wednesday starting the first week in June. And then on the odd Wednesdays when there isn't a free feed episode, we will, we will move bonus episode releases from Friday to Wednesday. So if you again are a member of the other side, you're going to get new episodes every Wednesday regardless. And then when there's like not enough Wednesdays, we will probably just post our third bonus episode of the month on the final Friday of the month. So that's kind of the production schedule starting in the summer and going through at least until the end of the summer. We're working things out right now. So just wanted to give everybody the heads up. What's coming down the pipeline?
Riley Bray
The Glarms boys need to, you know, get a tan, hit the beach.
Michael McMillan
We need to get a tan. We need to hit the beach. We've got other projects that we're trying to work on as well. And we just thought with the going now that we're going fully independent and literally have no help other than us that this is a good time to catch our breaths, get our ducks in a row and take a little bit of the pressure off of us this summer. So that's that. You're still going to get the show. We're going to have a great time. There is a summer theme. We're already working on it.
Riley Bray
Oh yeah, and that's a good one.
Michael McMillan
Yeah. Cuz we're not taking May off. We're working in May.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Yeah. So don't y' all worry about that. So we're very excited. We just settled on the theme and the name of the theme and. And we will have more announcements soon. So stay tuned to Bigfoot Collectors Club and Instagram.
Riley Bray
And if you find that you're missing the every week, just come on over to the Supercast where it still will be going just as it always is.
Michael McMillan
Yeah. And listen, this is not a ploy to get you all to jump over there. We are, we, you know, we're just reorganizing production. But I will say, especially now that we don't have a network and it is just us, it's a great time for you to come try BCC Clubhouse over at Supercast for a month. Try it for one month and see if you like it. If you don't, you can bounce. But that will help us because we don't have the sponsorship that we used to have. Now again we're going out on our own. So you guys are the sponsors now. That's, that's how this is gonna work.
Riley Bray
It's up to you.
Michael McMillan
It's up to you. It's up to you. No, but, but it is a good time. What better time? Try. I know, I know money is hard right now for people. I know bucks are tight. But for six bucks, month of May, one latte, you can get your three bonus episodes. If you can upgrade that, great. And you'll get Ad Free classics and Ad Free episodes moving forward. Give it a try. Just give it a try. You don't need.
Riley Bray
Plus the entire back catalog.
Michael McMillan
Oh yeah. The entire catalog is downloadable and we are working back catalog of bonus episodes and we're working on the back catalog of ad Free episodes. So I think right now Ad free classics are in the 20s as a. Probably by the time the series will be around episode 25 and then it jumps to episode 282 and we're going to be filling in some of that stuff. I think I'll probably in May as well as the summer be releasing multiple ad free classic episodes. A week. So you guys will get even more of that stuff because I want to get that time. I want to start getting that timeline caught up. You know, there's a lot of things we got to work on here.
Riley Bray
A lot of plates, guys.
Michael McMillan
A lot of cookies to bake.
Riley Bray
The, the, the cookie daddy kitchen is firing on all cylinders.
Michael McMillan
Yes. So, okay, clubhouse keeping done. Sorry to take up so much time in the show, but important stuff, you know, we like to communicate and keep you guys updated on things to the, you know, to the best of our ability. So there you go. All right, Riley, are you ready? Do you have your finger over the button, the proverbial and literal button? Because we've got some. BCC news now. By the time you hear this, there might be some updates, but there are some stories that happen in April that we have not been able to discuss this month. And the first one that really we should bring our attention to. Maybe get your conspiracy hats on. I don't know. But Newsweek, April 7, 2026. Mystery. Over eight missing or dead scientific experts. Have you heard about this?
Riley Bray
A little. Starting to see it on social media and stuff. And it's strange.
Michael McMillan
Yeah. And they all have potential links to the UFO mystery, which is also wild.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
So here we go. Joe Edwards from Newsweek's right. Newsweek writes calls for answering relating to a series of deaths and disappearances in involving military figures and scientists amid speculation over potential links to unidentified flying object research continues to grow, though no firm connection has been established by authorities. The context. Recent calls for scrutiny followed the February disappearance of retired Air Force Major General William Neil McCasland, whose case reignited attention on earlier incidents involving specialists in aerospace, defense and laboratory research. McCaslin's case in particular has caused a major stir in UFO circles, which have suggested that his vanishing is connected to his work. Among the disappearances that have sparked speculation are those of McCasland and aerospace engineer Monica Riza. McCaslin was last seen on February 27 at around 11am near Quail Run Court, New England and. Or, excuse me, northeast. Yeah, northeast. In Albuquerque, New Mexico. I mean, that is UFO country. And a silver alert was issued because of unspecified medical issues, according to Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. So there might be other stuff going on in this gentleman's life other than just, you know, a connection to UFOs, right. Investigators say McCaslin left his phone, prescription glasses and wearable devices at home, and a gray US Air Force sweatshirt was later found about 1.25 miles east of his residence. Detectives told Newsweek in March that they were still assessing whether McCaslin's case is connected to Reza, who disappeared while hiking months earlier after previously working on a government funded rocket materials project that was overseen by McCasland, according to reports.
Riley Bray
Weird.
Michael McMillan
It's weird.
Riley Bray
Weird.
Michael McMillan
Below is a timeline and summary of disappearances and deaths between 2025 and 2026, according to OANN. Which is that. Is oan like, though, Is that that one news network that's like super right wing, I think.
Riley Bray
Yes, I'm looking it up right now. Yo. Yeah, your nation, your One America News. One America News Network. So, you know, grain of salt, but
Michael McMillan
they put in this timeline. July 4, 2025. Frank Male Maywald, the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory research, died in Los angeles at age 61 with no cause of death disclosed. May 4, 2025. Anthony Chavez, the Chavez, the former Los Alamos National Laboratory employee, vanished. June 22, 2025. Monica Risa, the NASA scientist went missing during a hike in the Angeles National Forest, reportedly disappearing just yards from other people in her group.
Riley Bray
So weird.
Michael McMillan
June 26, 2025. Melissa Cassius, a Los Alamos administrative assistant, disappeared from her residence. Her mobile devices have been wiped.
Riley Bray
Weird detail.
Michael McMillan
December 12, 2025. Jason Thomas, the no Vardy's researcher, went missing, prompting a search that ended when his body was recovered from a Lake in March 7. On March 17.
Riley Bray
Dude.
Michael McMillan
December 15, 2025, Nuno Lurario, the head of MIT's Plasma Science and Fusion center, was fatally attacked at his home in Brookline, Massachusetts. I remembered when this happened.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
And this guy was like, working on some, like, important energy.
Riley Bray
Serious, serious energy science. Yeah, yeah.
Michael McMillan
February 16, 2026. Carl Grillmare, the astrophysicist, was shot on his front porch in the early morning.
Riley Bray
That one too, I remember happening. Yeah.
Michael McMillan
And then William Neil McCaslin goes missing on February 27th. So among the members of Congress that have spoken publicly about their concerns surrounding the string of disappearances and deaths are Tennessee Republican Tim Burchett and Missouri Republican Eric Burleson. Burleson recently said he'd requested the involvement of the FBI in this deeply concerning disappearances. It's remarkable that General McCaslet apparently walked off, walked out of his home, left all of his devices and never came back. Burleson told Fox News. And Monica Re says she was on a hike as well and mysteriously disappeared. And I've heard of others. So, yeah, it's weird. You know, Burchett's really been on the news cycle talking about weird ufo. I mean, listen, these are some politically unsavory people personally to me. But like, Matt Gaetz was out there talking about human hybrid programs on the news programs. Burchett is basically saying he won't deny that those programs exist. Like, there are some really weird. Now, do I trust anything that comes out of their mouths? No, I don't. I don't trust. I. This is the least I've ever trusted the government in my lifetime right now. Yeah, but this stuff is weird. I don't know. Maybe it's all of a coin, it's all a coincidence, but when you line up all those deaths and mysteriouses, it's hard not to start thinking like Fox Mulder.
Riley Bray
Yeah. I mean, some of these are like
Michael McMillan
a little explainable red string.
Riley Bray
Like also where it's like there's a difference between like, you know, an administrative assistant and like a, you know, mit. Plasma Science. Yes. Scientist. You know.
Michael McMillan
No, no, I, I agree. And that's why I said some of this stuff could probably be explained. But it is hard to feel, not feel like Fox Mulder when you're reading it.
Riley Bray
You know, it is concerning for sure. It.
Michael McMillan
It's weird. I think McCaslin's wife said she wouldn't be surprised. I'm not looking at this article, but I did read something where she was like, I think he may have just walked off and ended. Ended his life. So she wasn't super suspicious about it. Or at least that blip. Don't quote me on that. Let me look, as we're talking about him, I have a computer.
Riley Bray
I'm here in front of Carl Grilmar just getting shot on his porch.
Michael McMillan
That shit's crazy.
Riley Bray
It's really scary. It's disturbing. And is that, is that just like, that we're living in violent times or is that like a targeted, I don't
Michael McMillan
know, stuff about the guy whose house was broken into? Yeah. His wife said that she believes he had planned not to be found. In the 911 call, she said, my husband is missing, it's been about three hours, and I have some indication that he must have planned to not be found. So that came out, but super sad. It's all sad and all wild and. I don't know, I think everyone is, you know, with this aliens.gov and all this stuff. Like, I just feel like the Internet right now is like, so, like, it's UFOs. It's UFOs. It's like so disclosure crazy. Maybe more than it's ever been. So. I don't know. Keep your, Keep your feet grounded in all of this. Stuff. But it is weird.
Riley Bray
Yeah, yeah.
Michael McMillan
Where Strange stuff.
Riley Bray
We're living through strange times everybody.
Michael McMillan
We sure are. Mr. Riley Bray. This is how I diffuse the situation. Just doing a dumb voice. All right, we're gonna take a break. When we come back, a quick Biggie update and then we're getting into your el files. Okay Riley, it's time for everybody's favorite segment. Where in the world is Bigfoot? San Diego. Nope. Still no sign of Bigfoot in San Diego. However, our good friend Jeremiah Byron over at Bigfoot Society and the Bigfoot Mapping Project reported we had another mini flap Bigfoot flap this month. The beginning of the month. April 3rd, 4th and 5th. Three days, three different Bigfoot sightings in southern Ontario. So it was very similar to the situation we had in Ohio over sasquatch spring break April 3rd in Dresden, Ontario. A seven foot tall black figure was spotted hanging out at the tree line at 6:15am and then the next day at April 4th in Thamesville, Ontario an eight foot. Excuse me creature. Now I love the description of this cinnamon fur was spotted. I think this one. Oh no, the next one is involving the dog. This was at 5:35pm There was footprints found and wood knocks heard.
Riley Bray
Oh okay.
Michael McMillan
And then on April 5th in Ragland, Ontario a person was walking their dog at 7:30 in the morning and their dog started going ape barking and he said that. The person said I can't. I don't remember if it was a he or she. I think it was a he but I could be wrong. Said that they were near a field and a tree line on the edge of the field and they looked over and saw a 7 foot tall black all covered in hair creature that was just calm all both of these. This one and the cinnamon fur seemed unbothered by the people there. But they were just he. It was just standing at the tree line and then turned and walked off.
Riley Bray
So is the theory this is the same. The same squatch making its way.
Michael McMillan
Well the seven foot black one could be. These are all very. These aren't. It's not super far from each other. But this is all like north of. We're on the coast. I think it's like north east of Lake Erie. It's like on the Lake Erie basically coastline. And one of like Raglan is like right on Lake Erie. So Jeremiah was saying that it'll be interesting to see what happened in the following days. You know full disclosure recording this a little bit early. So we don't have have any major updates past the six. But yeah there's like they're walking right to the lake. So there's not. There's nowhere to, like, continue to migrate. You know what I mean? They'll have to walk along the. The lake line there. So I don't know. We're moving in a southeastward direction from Dresden to Thamesville down to Ragland. So just a little. Another Bigfoot flap happening in 2026. Pretty fun stuff. Any.
Riley Bray
Any amount of Bigfoot activity is a lot of Bigfoot activity.
Michael McMillan
I agree.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
That's why I, you know, people are like, well, the siding stopped in Ohio. I'm like, I don't know, we had like four days with like eight sightings or whatever. It was like, this is exciting stuff. This is fun for me.
Riley Bray
Yeah, totally.
Michael McMillan
I don't know what to think or believe, but it's fun. Are you not entertained? All right, let's dip into these L files.
Riley Bray
All right, let's do it.
Michael McMillan
If you have a story of high strangeness that happened to you, please write to us at bigfoot collectors club gmail.com and write l files. Thank you. Riley, why don't you start this off?
Riley Bray
Hi, Riley.
Michael McMillan
By the way, you'll like this one because there's a photo of a car involved.
Riley Bray
I. I see this.
Michael McMillan
An image of a car.
Riley Bray
Oh, man, that's a great.
Michael McMillan
You would look good in this car. I would love it. By the.
Riley Bray
You guys are going to find out what it is. As soon as I read this letter and it says, hi, Riley and Michael, right before I sat down to write this, I had a fun conversation on the BCC Discord.
Michael McMillan
Oh, guys, gals, non binary friends get on the Discord. It's fun.
Riley Bray
Circumstances beyond my control have me socially isolated a lot of the time, so I really do appreciate the connections I've made with the other club scouts.
Michael McMillan
Amazing.
Riley Bray
I really appreciate all of the work you put into this fantastic podcast and the community you've created. Thank you. That's nice.
Michael McMillan
Thank you.
Riley Bray
All right, I have a short story that involves a BCC guest and fan favorite, Adela Levine.
Michael McMillan
Hi, Dela.
Riley Bray
Hi, Dayla. It's been a while. Adela is a medium and intuitive and also a very, very cool person. I booked a medium reading with her in hopes of contacting my dad, who I lost in 2011. Dad one. I'm sorry, let's say 2001. I don't know where that other one just came from.
Michael McMillan
You know, it's okay. It's horse math. Horse years.
Riley Bray
Yeah, horse years. Dad was a lot of things. He was a public Radio DJ and the number one fan of A Prairie Home Companion.
Michael McMillan
Oh my God.
Riley Bray
This is me interjecting the most dad show in the world.
Michael McMillan
Oh yeah. My dad used to listen to Garrison Keiller on our road trips. And he'd be like cackling and I'd be like, what is funny about any of this?
Riley Bray
Yeah, yeah. But also, your dad is on public radio. That is extremely cool.
Michael McMillan
Rad. No.
Riley Bray
Yes.
Michael McMillan
Your dad sounds very cool.
Riley Bray
All right. He wore wallaby shoes long before the hipsters discovered them. There we go. He was a classic film buff who introduced me to Frank Capra.
Michael McMillan
Wow.
Riley Bray
This. He's. This guy's awesome. He loved everything.
Michael McMillan
Can he be everybody's dad? This guy's rad.
Riley Bray
Yeah. You really? Yeah. Rad dad award. He loved everything about cars and read road and track religiously. This is the most dad coded.
Michael McMillan
No notes.
Riley Bray
All right, I'm going to stop interjecting and we're going to.
Michael McMillan
No notes. We have no notes.
Riley Bray
We have no notes.
Michael McMillan
No dad notes.
Riley Bray
Perfect. Perfect. Dad activities and hobbies. His all time favorite car was the Saab 900 Turbo convertible, preferably in red.
Michael McMillan
I mean, we do have to say the car is very cool.
Riley Bray
That car. So sick. Yeah, I love a classic Saab.
Michael McMillan
Me too.
Riley Bray
Yeah, they're really great. He wanted this car more than anything. Dad was obsessed with Saab's. We frequently attended the National Saab Owners Convention. Dad used to say to us, if I die and you guys end up buying a Saab 900 Turbo convertible, I'll haunt your asses. Sadly, he never got a chance to buy his dream car before he got sick. Ten years after he died, Saab went bankrupt. No new Saab's have been on the road in 15 years. My mom often says, thank God your dad died before Saab went bankrupt. He would have been so pissed. Lol. We have a morbid sense of humor in our family.
Michael McMillan
You know, this is turning into a real sob story.
Riley Bray
That was very dad of you. Anyway, getting back to my session with Adela, I spoke to her over the phone and expressed an interest in speaking to my dad. She picked up on his energy and shared some very personal and moving information that convinced me that she is the real deal.
Michael McMillan
Cool.
Riley Bray
He said during the session that he wanted to contact me, but that I was too closed off. Off. Adela suggested I talk out loud to him, which is something I had never tried before. So right after my session, I hopped in my car to go pick up my son. I said out loud, dad, if you can hear me, show me a sob. About 10 minutes later, my eyes darted to a car parked on the side of the road. A red Saab 900 Turbo convertible.
Michael McMillan
Shut up.
Riley Bray
Love it. Not a common car also. I know. And said, thank you. A few days later, I was telling my mom about the sign. As I was telling her, a dilapidated SOB 900 rolled past us. Mom screamed, oh my God, it's your father.
Michael McMillan
Riley. I just got the chills.
Riley Bray
Yeah, yeah.
Michael McMillan
I have goosebumps now.
Riley Bray
I do too, actually. This could of course all be explained by their maybe being a high concentration of vintage sobs in my Indiana town. I'd rather believe, however, that it's my dad. Now whenever I see a SOB on the road, I yell out, hi, dad. Thank you again for the BCC and for being good humans. Gwen.
Michael McMillan
Well, thank you.
Riley Bray
Let her, Gwen.
Michael McMillan
Yeah. Gwen. This might be one of my all time favorite L files we've ever gotten.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
This is so great.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Your dad sounded awesome. This. And it's these little moments, right? These are the moments that the show's not like the moment of us reading this letter. Although that's what I love about the show. But like when we talk about like moments that you can't explain, stories that happen to you, that have meaning to you, it's this kind of stuff, you know, because even if it's a coincidence, it's almost weirder that it is a coincidence to me, you know?
Riley Bray
Yeah. Because it's like how. What control mechanism is causing that? Yeah.
Michael McMillan
It's coincident. Like even if it's coincidence, it's magical. You know what I mean? So who cares?
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
If it's literally a sign from your dad or not, it is symbolically a sign and it is meaningful. It's what it means. Right. So it is real and it's true.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
And I mean, I think it probably is your dad too. You know what I mean? Like, this was so cool. Wow, what a great story. Yeah.
Riley Bray
Reality is just like interpreted symbols anyways, you know, when it comes down to it. And it's, it's the way that you read these symbols is the way that you navigate the world. And that's, you know, I like that you, you just, you say, hi, dad. Now that's a. That you, you've chosen to engage with the, you know, the mysterious coincidence and the just sort of a little bit
Michael McMillan
of whimsy and the doubling down of the second SOB driving past the house.
Riley Bray
Yeah. Just like. Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Insane.
Riley Bray
Such a dad move to do that too.
Michael McMillan
Yeah. Yeah, it's great. What a great letter love It. Well, we're moving on from dads and sobs to moms and something a little bit more out of this world. This letter is entitled My mom is a UFO.
Riley Bray
Okay, let's go.
Michael McMillan
Sounds like a 1970s live action Disney movie starring a young Kurt Russell. Hi Michael and Riley. I've been listening to your show every week for years now. I believe the first episode I listened to was you guys talking about drug induced altered states and how people reported seeing the same beings. I have always loved how much you approach the world of the paranormal respectfully, but not afraid to have a sense of humor at the same time. I have wanted to ride in for a long time. What finally drove me to action is you losing your mom and then your dad. My mom. I didn't realize there's gonna be so much dead parent material up tops. This is also like sometimes I just click, click, copy paste. Go, go. And then we discovered in the moment. And this is one of those times.
Riley Bray
We're independent now. Buckle up.
Michael McMillan
That's right. Would what finally drove me is you losing your mom and then your dad. My mom passed away during COVID and I still had bad days. Oh, I'm so sorry. So I'd like to offer you my deepest sympathies, Michael. Thank you. Back to you. Where was I? Oh yeah. My mom is a ufo. I know it sounds insane, but please allow me to explain and give a little background. Pretty much my whole life. As long as I can remember, my mom was a UFO slash in alien enthusiast. My parents both love sci fi, so the whole alien concept to me was never really in question. Mom says they're real, so they must be real. When I was around 9 or 10, about 1984 ish. I remember my mom telling me a story about her and my dad having missing time.
Riley Bray
Whoa.
Michael McMillan
What does that mean? I remember asking her. This was before X Files and even the communion book was out. Yeah, 1984. This is like hot off. Like the Bud Hopkins missing time era. She told me that she and my father and myself in the back seat as a baby. So like 1974. Were driving home late one night after hanging out with my family friends or with family friends. It was not a long drive or shouldn't have been been. They lived relatively close to one another about a 15 minute drive. My parents were about halfway home. This was a somewhat rural area at the time. And my mom looked out the passenger side window and saw a cigar shaped craft. And according to her it was keeping pace with them. Holy.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Terrifying.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
She yelled at my dad to floor it. And he did, even though he could not see the object. When they got home, my mom says that they had lost nearly two hours of time from when they had left their friend's house. This would have been 1974, so it was before any UFO stuff hit popular culture. So she didn't know what to make of it. I'm assuming my dad probably just shrugged his shoulders and went to bed, not thinking much of it. As the years went by, aliens kind of grew in the Zeitgeist, Close Encounters, Communion, X Files, etc, it kind of became a little more acceptable to discuss in the open. As a result, I heard my mom tell the story several times, never changing a single word, never adding any details that would. That's a good point. In Tenny's book. When I was 15, I stayed the night at a friend's house and as one does at a sleepover, you try and stay awake all night. I wish I could remember what time it was. I know it was well past midnight. My friend's bedroom was in the basement of the house and the cool thing about his room was that it had windows running along the length of the wall. So laying in his bed you could clearly see outside. His house was surrounded by trees. Trees. But you could still see the night sky, the moon and stars. Well, this diamond shaped light alternating between blue, white, green and red just sort of lazily bobbed into view. We both sat up, got out of bed and approached the windows. This thing would come closer, never getting too close. We could never make out any details other than this diamond shaped light and retreat, all the while bobbing up and down. We knew it wasn't a plane and it was not a helicopter. It was fairly close and a low altitude, maybe 100ft at most. We watched this thing bob and weave for at least 20 minutes before it gradually retreated into the distance and beyond the tree line until we could no longer see it. We were so excited and agreed that it had to be a UFO. But what to do about it? Call 91 1? No, they would think we were crazy or just pranking them. Try finding report UFO in the yellow pages in 1988 and it's not there. So we eventually went back to bed and just kept looking out the window until dawn. I don't think we ever discussed it again after that. Fast forward about 10 years and I was married with a son and he was a bit over two years old. He had a decent vocabulary by that time and woke up, woke us up crying. One night we went in his room, and he was standing in his crib. And as long as I live, I will never forget what he kept saying. Big, black, scary eyes.
Riley Bray
No, thank you.
Michael McMillan
Oh, I'll admit I'm a bit biased, but what would you think if your kid who could barely speak, started saying that to you? Interesting side bit here. I emailed Whitley Strieber about this, and the gist of his gracious response was. I don't know.
Riley Bray
That sounds about right.
Michael McMillan
He said it a few nights and then thankfully stopped. But my wife and I had to lay down in the room with him until he fell asleep for about two years after that.
Riley Bray
That is wild. That is so, so scary. So scary.
Michael McMillan
Buckle up. This is. I should have said. This is a longer letter, but guess what? I'm riveted.
Riley Bray
Yeah, I'm in. I'm in. Let's go.
Michael McMillan
Okay. Where did I leave off? Okay. Thank you. Adjacent to this. My mother found a hypnotherapist through a friend of a friend. That's the best way to find a hypnotherapist. A friend of a friend knows the hypnotherapist.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
And had a session with her. They videotaped it, and I couldn't wait to watch it. I'll admit, even I don't know what to think about what my mom said in that session. The Cliffs Notes version is that she had been visited by alien grays since she was little. They were able to get to that night with this. They were able to get to that night with this. Oh, she and the hypnotherapist were able to get. Get to the night with the cigar shaped craft. And this is what my mom recalled under hypnosis. This is fascinating.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
After my mom told my dad to floor it, he did. And the craft kept pace with him until the car suddenly died and stopped. My mom was yelling at my dad, but he was in some kind of trance. Hands on the wheel, but just staring blankly ahead. She said that a light came over the car and she floated through the roof of the car into the craft. I don't remember the rest of the session clearly. She was examined by a tall gray, and there were several smaller ones. She said they had trouble calming her down because she kept saying, my baby. Where's my baby? Me in the back of the car. After the examination, they put her back in the car. And that's about all the details that I can remember 20 years later. Later, during COVID we lived in Las Vegas, as did my parents. Every night, I would sit out on my patio and have a beer and just watch the stars. There's just something about that night sky in the desert that is truly awesome. I would see the same satellites at the same time each night. My mom got sick with COVID and was in the hospital. I didn't know it at the time, but we had what would be our last conversation at night on that patio. During the conversation, I got up and started walking into the driveway. Through the partial cloud cover, I noticed a light going across the night sky. It seemed about the altitude as most planes, but it was going a bit faster. Well, the damn thing just suddenly made a right angle turn. I remember thinking to myself, I must have imagined, imagine that. Until it immediately went back in the other direction. It didn't stop, it didn't turn. It just reversed course and zipped back in the other direction Until I couldn't see it anymore through the clouds. It was like it went into the clouds and never came out. I was relaying this to my mom in real time, and we both kind of shared a chuckle. My mom passed away about a week later. Jumping forward about two years after that, my wife and I moved to the east Coast. My dad and his girlfriend were driving from Las Vegas to visit her parents and then us. I won't get into the details, but I have issues with my dad from infidelity. I was extremely frustrated with my father because he did not arrive when he said he would. And it didn't seem important to him to let me know when he'd show up. I was so angry and hurt. Hurt and my what? And at my wit's end, I said to my wife, I'm so upset at the one person I want to talk to about this is gone. A few minutes later, my wife and I were sitting on our back patio. This was in broad daylight. My wife points up at the sky and says, you see that? I looked up and there's a silver spherical object in the sky drop directly above us. Not moving, just sitting there. I watched it for several seconds. I didn't think much of it in the moment. I thought maybe it was a star since it was about an hour before dusk. We took our eyes off it, and a few moments later, I looked up and it was gone. I went back and forth between the front and the back of the house, Trying to track the star in the sky, and it never came back. Back the next day, I went outside in the exact same time and there was nothing there. Over the next several months, I would randomly see the same thing in the sky. On my way to work, but never in the same place. Each time it would be visible just long enough for me to try to get a good look at it. And then it would just kind of blink out of sight. It eventually stopped altogether. I still drive the same way to work, and then at the same time every day. And I haven't seen anything like it in at least a year. Now, I have zero evidence to back this up, but somehow I just think this is my mom or has something to do with her. I believe in my bones that it is not a coincidence that in one of my most difficult moments when I desperately needed my mom, that this thing just appeared in the sky above our house. I wish I knew how, but I. I believe that all of these things we call paranormal are connected somehow. Ghosts, aliens, UFOs, even Bigfoot. Keep up the great work. I'd love to hear your George Nori again sometime. As well as Tommy Tentos. You mean Mikey Ten Toes. You know, and I'm just man keeping the real thing. The real thing. And that's what's important. And I'd like to say that any man who doesn't like a woman. Woman should be locked up. Thanks, George.
Riley Bray
Thanks, George.
Michael McMillan
Warm regards, Sean. And Sean wrote a P.S. a little plug. And I'm gonna allow it because this letter was so good.
Riley Bray
You get a plug for that one.
Michael McMillan
What a P.S. if I could take this opportunity to be a little self serving. I have a YouTube channel. That's right, Al. And I have an ongoing series where Bigfoot and Mothman are best buddies. They're roommates, and they make a podcast called Blurred Vision. Mothman is heavy into conspiracy theories and maintains that he was framed for the Point Pleasant bridge collapse. Bigfoot is the grounding aspect of the duo, always trying to keep the Mothman calm. Full disclosure. Oh, it is A.I. oh, that's right, A.I. that's called full disclosure. It is A.I. but I write each episode. I think it's funny and it has heart. I really think that you guys and your audience would enjoy it. And if I can make even one person laugh, it would make the. All the hard work I put into the channel worth it. So you can find that over@YouTube.com that's right, AI great story. Wow. Unbelievable.
Riley Bray
Sounds like you're from like some sort of alien lineage there.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, you got some generational stuff going on here for sure. I don't know if that makes you excited or spooked out, but.
Riley Bray
Both.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, both. I mean, that's really cool. Two great stories here.
Riley Bray
Yeah. Yeah.
Michael McMillan
In the Similar sphere of missing parent. I truly did not plan that the way that it came out.
Riley Bray
So another perfect coincidence there.
Michael McMillan
Another perfect coincidence. Great. Thank you for that story. God, that had everything. An alien abduction, a spooked out baby.
Riley Bray
I know.
Michael McMillan
Hypnosis, regression, a sleepover.
Riley Bray
Like 80s sleepover, you know?
Michael McMillan
Yeah. Multiple UFO eyewitness accounts in that story.
Riley Bray
I love car ride. It was very cinematic. I. I liked that one, Sean. Very, absolutely nicely told.
Michael McMillan
And what a nicely.
Riley Bray
What a story.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, great story. Okay, let's take a break. When we come back, we'll read a couple more stories.
Riley Bray
Sounds good.
Michael McMillan
And we'll call it a night. Okay. Riley, crack another L file open and let's find out what's inside.
Riley Bray
Let's do it. Well, this one begins. Hi fellas. Coming in. As a newer fan and finally remembered my own story of strange happenings, I wanted to share perhaps mild but still wild to me.
Michael McMillan
Mild but wild. I love it.
Riley Bray
Yeah, you're in the right place. At my high school, every year they hosted a senior night where the entire senior class stays at the school the whole night. There was plenty to do from rock climbing to mini car racing and free gambling tables. What high school did you go to?
Michael McMillan
Cool.
Riley Bray
Cool school.
Michael McMillan
Mild but wild high.
Riley Bray
Yeah, seriously. At a couple of booths they had tarot card reading, crystal ball predictions, and one palm reader. Handwriting analyst.
Michael McMillan
This is like a community of rich hippies.
Riley Bray
Yeah. Where did you go to school? I only had time to visit one booth, so we had all night. So I went with the palm reader.
Michael McMillan
This. This person has places to be, got stuff to do.
Riley Bray
You got. I got a rock climb. I got to go go karting.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, I don't have time for these booths when I can gamble.
Riley Bray
School sponsored gambling. I think we had 6am at the high school craps table.
Michael McMillan
I think we did have casino nights in middle school and high school, now that I think about it. But it was all like fake money. It was like. Like paper money. Like monopoly money. But I could be wrong. Anyway, go on.
Riley Bray
Didn't do this at my school. Okay. Anyway, I thought the whole thing was.
Michael McMillan
You weren't even grow up in the late 80s and early 90s like I did.
Riley Bray
Yeah. Go home. Go online. So they. They continue. I only had time to visit one booth, so I went with the palm reader. I thought the whole thing was BS and filled out this paper that had me draw a spiral. Among other things. Things just knowing I would get some open ended predictable answer that can apply to everyone. Not surprisingly, she told me I was a warrior in A past life and noticed an optimism in me. But then the palm reading got weird. I showed her my right hand and she immediately dropped the smile on her face. I have no self harm scars and I did not reveal any personal information. But the palm reader, very worried, asked me are you okay at home? I was taken aback and said that I'd just moved out and doing better as I didn't know what else to say. She continued reading my lines and asked me which parent did you lose?
Michael McMillan
Okay, I did not mean to do this.
Riley Bray
This is crazy. This is crazy. It seems that you were young, perhaps around 10 years old. I had lost my mother just two months shy of my 10 birthday. She asked me again if I was sure I was alright where I'm staying and insisted that she could help if I needed a safe home. As she had helped out someone in my situation before. I kindly declined her offer. A little freaked out and again told her that I was working it out, but thanked her for her concern. She said that my hands had shown great struggle at home and that it was was serious. It made me feel validated for what I had gone through, but in the most bizarre way from a total stranger who didn't even know my name. Weird. She started connecting the reading to my handwriting and emphasized that I was a strong person despite my tiny frame and troubled upbringing. When I asked my other friends about the interaction, none had gotten that personal with the palm reader. She had told them all predictable answers, but somehow she picked apart all my problems which rattled me and opened my mind that maybe not all these people are shams, just some might be onto something. I lost her business card and I can't remember her name. But I thank her from time to time mentally for just being there and talking me with that night. Thanks for reading. All the best. Riley W he himself.
Michael McMillan
Wow.
Riley Bray
Whoa.
Michael McMillan
Cool. I'm glad you didn't move in with the palm reader. But they do sound like a nice person and pretty wild. I mean we've not just. I don't know if we've ever discussed palm reading on the podcast. I mean it's certainly within the wheelhouse of the show. Yeah, but it is.
Riley Bray
Was an intuitive. Like a deep, deep intuitive.
Michael McMillan
And yeah, whatever.
Riley Bray
Absolutely form they. Via palm or handwriting or whatever they. They saw. They saw you. They really saw you. Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Yeah. And I'm. I would guess that like I don't know, everyone's got stuff going on but maybe your friends didn't have anything that leapt out in a way that was serious for this person and so you know, they really saw something there. That's really. I mean, what can you say? They. They. They read you perfectly. That's wild.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Cool stuff. Yeah. We should talk about palm reading maybe a little bit. Do a segment on it.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Find out. Let's get a palm reader on the show.
Riley Bray
Also, cool name.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, Great name. Sounded like I was jealous. And maybe I am a little bit. Okay, let's do one more. Okay. Shall we?
Riley Bray
Yeah. Yeah. One more. One more.
Michael McMillan
I think this one was from a few years ago, so. Thanks for your patience, listener. Hello, bcc. I feel this following story from my past has something to do with what I would now call my awakening. A couple years ago, my cousin passed away at the age of 20, just a year older than I. We. We'll call him Jade. And this writer asked me remain anonymous, but said that we could call them by the name Penumbra. There was an opening paragraph that was not part of the story, so I cut it.
Riley Bray
Okay.
Michael McMillan
Just a little backstory. Jade was the most important person in my life. Also, again, did not mean to include all these dead family members. I guess that's just the theme of this batch.
Riley Bray
It's a coincidence, you know.
Michael McMillan
Oh. I found it under possible ghost family member drawers. That's the drawer that I pulled all these out of, so that makes sense. It was in that file cabinet.
Riley Bray
Okay.
Michael McMillan
Yeah. Signs from. From past on loved ones. Ones, possibly. Okay. Jade was the most important person in my life. The connection we had, I have come to believe, transcends our physical reality. He was my best friend and the older brother I could look up to my whole life. It really hit me hard when I was informed of his passing. Words cannot express what I went through. In the following months, I struggled with my grip on reality, question my existence, and watch my world fall apart. That's so hard. The person I spent most of my days with was gone. I felt alone. And after two months of his passing, my sister and I got tattoos. Hers was of a TARDIS from the Doctor who. That was the show that they watched the most together. I got a Super Nintendo controller on my right wrist, being the most prominent console we played as kids. Just a week after getting my tattoo, I was outside having a cigarette, literally listening to some of our favorite anime songs. I love the story that that sentence told me. I love the picture that it painted. Yeah, it was in the late evening one day in March. I just woken up to go outside. After lighting my smoke and hitting play on my playlist. It was then that I saw a glowing orb of light somewhere between five and six feet above the ground. It was 10 or 12ft away from me. The orb was dim at first, glowing white, but it would increase in brightness from white and and small at its most dim and growing green and slightly bigger in size at its most bright. It would dim and glow before fading out and reappearing a foot further than its prior position, moving left to right across my yard, just a few feet off of my patio. From what I can remember, it would change its elevation as it moved, synchronizing with its increase in brightness and change of color. This happened three or five times before completely disappearing from existence altogether. But the emotions that enveloped me were tranquil, peaceful and natural. It was blissful, and it felt to me as if it were just a point of time in existence. It left me in silence, but I gained an understanding of everything. It was like a nod or a reassurance that I am me and what I feel is okay. In a way, it was a mutual respect and understanding of everything that has happened in my life. I would then go on researching what it was that I just experienced. My first thought was that it was a firefly. But soon I came to find out there are no fireflies in this part of Wyoming. And at this time of year there would have been no insects or bugs. Bugs of any kind. Active March in Wyoming is still quite cold and spring can harbor most of our snowfall compared to other months of the year. So I thought maybe it was a light showing through my neighbor's fence. But at the time, the house was up for sale and unoccupied. I had never seen any lights from their yard beforehand. Or any lights that acted as this one did, for that matter. I've come to believe or feel it was either my cousin cousin or another entity comforting me in my time of grief. I felt this phenomenon was alive. It felt as if it had an energy about it that I could not describe. Maybe I was still drowsy from waking up, or my mind was playing tricks on me in one of the most existential periods of my life. Perhaps it's. Or, excuse me. Perception is always something to keep in mind. I'm well aware of the fact that I that the experiencer has a role to play in these sort of things. But I know I was part of something that evening that will never be forgotten. Thanks, boys. Continue your efforts. They don't go unappreciated. I am sure of that. Stay Strange Penumbra Cool. Wow. Beautiful story. Wow. I don't know. What do you think it's similar to the stuff that, you know, that in. In Sean's story about the UFO and this mom.
Riley Bray
Yeah. I mean, it is. You experience something that is, you know, profound and spiritual and paranormal and unexplainable. And I think you have a good. You have a good take on it, really. That, yes, the perceiver plays a role in it. And it's like. But whatever it is or whatever the explanation is, it served that function in your life in that moment when you needed that to happen. And whether that is the mind tapping into some deep level of reality or some outside force, it kind of doesn't matter. Like.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, it's in the sensation at all.
Riley Bray
Yeah, exactly.
Michael McMillan
The sensation of oneness and all of that. Or like the. In the reaffirmation of the self. Yeah. You know, he described it as a way, an awakening. I can see that. You know, I don't know. My imagination tends to go towards, like, man, your cousin saying. Manifesting in a way that, like, you know, they could reach out to you. So I don't know. It.
Riley Bray
It.
Michael McMillan
Again, as with any of these stories, the meaning is personal, and that's the important thing. And it's a moment with all of these. These are moments that allowed you to connect to something deeper than, you know, surface reality. Find something. Some meaning about your place in the greater picture and the, you know, greater meaning of things, I guess, you know, I don't know.
Riley Bray
And, like, the, like, alchemy of turning, like, struggle into, like, personal and spiritual growth, you know?
Michael McMillan
Yeah.
Riley Bray
Like.
Michael McMillan
Yeah.
Riley Bray
And those. Those are those. These little magic. It's a. It's a. It's a magic orb. Why not, you know.
Michael McMillan
Yeah.
Riley Bray
That carries you through to the next
Michael McMillan
stage and seemingly meant only for you. Also, I think it's interesting if we want to, like, break apart some of the alchemy here at the moment. He pressed play. Yeah, they pressed play. It happened, you know, so it was almost like the. The thing that ignited the experience was the music. The cigarette.
Riley Bray
Yeah. Also. Yeah. The lighting of the fire.
Michael McMillan
There was like. There was a little ritual happening there. The body tattoo. You know what I mean? Like, so it was almost like you. I. I mean, I don't want to get too creepy, but it was a week after getting a tattoo. It's like sort of like there. There was a ritual happening that, you know, that week.
Riley Bray
Yeah. You have the sigil. You. You lit the. The ceremonial fire.
Michael McMillan
The fire.
Riley Bray
Don't smoke, everyone. It's very bad.
Michael McMillan
Yes. Summon the music, but, you know.
Riley Bray
Yeah. And then played the music and, and
Michael McMillan
then you summoned, you summoned the thing. You summoned the, the experience. So yeah, I think there were some like backdoors, unintentional chaos magic happening here. That also sounds like it.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Set you up for this. So you were, you were playing a role in it. You were letting the, the, the, the, you know, you were conducting a magic ritual. Whether you realize it or not. I think.
Riley Bray
Penumbra. You're a wizard.
Michael McMillan
You're a wizard. Penumbra. Penumbra. You're a wizard. You're a wizard. Penumbra. All right, everybody, let's swing by collector's corner real quick. I talked about this after we got off with Mark Rennie last week, but I'm reading. I'm sure some of you guys and gals and non binary friends have already done this, but I'm reading the Dungeon Crawler Crawler. Excuse me, Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Deniman. It's a very fun, very fun, very entertaining with, with like some levels of like real feelings story. It's a post apocalyptic fantasy sci fi thing. And you know, I know I didn't really want to read another one of those either, but this is, it's great. It's basically like a real life DND game come to life. And that's kind of like the main character is forced to basically play like a real life RPG order to survive. And it's got like a lot of absurd stuff in it. His sidekick is a talking cat named Princess Donut, a. A Persian cat, which is close to my heart. It feels like an Edgar Wright movie. It's kind of got that like hot fuzz sha of the Dead energy to it, which I really enjoy. It's kind of got that sense of humor, but it's wildly imaginative. It's very fun. It's very page turny. I'm on book three, the eighth book out on May 12th. I'm trying to get caught up before then. It's just like I have not had this much fun reading. It's not. It's a very different book than Project Hail Mary. You know what I mean? This is like a little bit more pulpy, but it's just fun. It's just a fun like page turning read. So if you're looking for something good for this summer, pick up the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, which are very. It's very hot right now. Like I'm not, not. I'm not on the edge of anything here. Like I'm, I'm behind the trend. I'm not, I'm not I'm behind the trend, but it's a buzzy thing. But, man, I kind of picked up the first book on a whim. I was like, I don't know if this is going to be for me. And I'm like, loving it. It's great.
Riley Bray
That's cool. Cool.
Michael McMillan
Yeah, it's really fun. I'm really trying to read for pleasure. More like I used to all the time. I'm like intentionally trying to be like, push. But you do not get to pick. If you're gonna pick up your phone, you're gonna pick up your book.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
And really do that stuff.
Riley Bray
But, man, I like when we. Before we had those.
Michael McMillan
I know. I used to use this all the time.
Riley Bray
Just read a book. You have a book around. They're so distracting. They're so distracting.
Michael McMillan
But now the book's becoming the distracting thing. Enjoying it. Like, I'm getting back into the habit. I've been getting pretty. Other than reading stuff for the show, you know, I've been getting like, okay, when I'm reading, I'm reading comic books and graphic novels, but I'd been really slacking on, like, getting back into fiction. So I'm really loving it. It makes me feel good.
Riley Bray
Yeah. Cool. I got a good. I got a good collector's corner that's sitting on my desk. And it relates back to the. To the whole. To the whole thing we've. We've been talking about. So this right here, this microphone is a. It's a. It's an old, very old RCA ribbon microphone.
Michael McMillan
Okay. So Riley, the microphone, if you're listening to this, it's kind of like that old timey almost rectangular with the curved top and curved bottom. Like old timey almost radio mic. It looks like something out of like a art deco or like a retro futuristic. Like this. This microphone would. Would fit right at home within the Fallout series.
Riley Bray
I was gonna say very Fallout Y. This microphone lives on my desk. I do use it. It sounds awesome. I got this microphone from a BCC listener about 10 months ago maybe. Really. And I told her I'd shout her out on the show. And I'm getting around to it now in the perfect context. Perfect. Her name's Trevi. Shout out, Trevi. This microphone belonged to her father. And when her dad passed, she reached out to. To us through the Gmail and said, hey, my dad was an audio engineer. I have a bunch of microphones that I think Riley might be interested in. And so I went over there with a friend of mine.
Michael McMillan
I remember you telling me about this, but I hadn't seen the. You told me this happened.
Riley Bray
Yeah, my friend and I, who's also in a really cool band, bought a bunch of her dad's old mics and Trevi. I've been using them. They are great. This particular one, I just like love it. So it sits on my desk and so that's like a little, you know, a little thing. Her dad was an engineer. He worked on Saturday Night Live doing like the. He was like a network broadcast engineer. So he had this amazing collection of equipment. Wow. And yeah. So, you know, it's like that object has passed on. This mic is very old.
Michael McMillan
Yeah. I mean, it's like you really are owning a piece of history there.
Riley Bray
Yeah, totally. And it still sounds really cool.
Michael McMillan
It has a hear sometime.
Riley Bray
Yeah.
Michael McMillan
So is it possible. Would it be possible for us to ever, like record a podcast that sounds like old timey radio in actual microphones or is.
Riley Bray
Hold on. Talk for a second.
Michael McMillan
Okay, so what we're going to do is, I mean, the magic of podcasting everybody. We can actually plug it in to the interface and we can find out how it sound. I can't hear you. We're testing it now.
Riley Bray
Hey, hey.
Michael McMillan
There you go.
Riley Bray
There's the Coming to you live from Trevi's dad's microphone.
Michael McMillan
Man. It's got a real warmth to it, right?
Riley Bray
It's cool. It sounds really unique.
Michael McMillan
It's kind of, you know, it's a bit muffled, it's old fashioned sounding, but it's cool.
Riley Bray
That sounds old timey. Anyways, that's my collector's corner is this very cool old mic that's been now passed into my care. And who knows, it'll go to after I leave this mortal coil.
Michael McMillan
I love it whenever you die, I'll just see an old timey microphone drive by my house and I'll say that was Riley.
Riley Bray
I think that actually is probably the way that I would represent myself to you. Yeah.
Michael McMillan
Stay with me, buddy. All right, everybody. So just for a friendly reminder, we will be taking May off of the free feed. If you want new episodes, come find us. Oh, yeah. The theme of which will be revealed. Bye bye everyone. Good night. And go get regressed. Get regressed. Goodbye from Radio Land.
Michael McMillan
Radio Land. Why are you scary? I do like the idea of like a creepy Radio Land ghost who's just a ghost that holds up a microphone and talks to you. Yeah, you can only hear through the ghost mic. I don't know. We'll. We'll workshop this.
Riley Bray
We'll figure it out. I got Throw it up.
