Faith, people wonder, how did this ship? It turns by the helm. Well, what does the helm do? It cocks the rudder, see? And if I'm going one way and I want to go another way, I turn that right there. Okay? Substitute this right here for your tongue. God has called you successful. God has called, you can go all through the Bible. God has called you victorious. God has called you a winner. God has spoken with long life. He's over you. So why don't we say what God says? You see what I'm saying now? We're not going to say what God says because we don't know God's way. But now I'm teaching you God's way. Because that's the way us got here. I had to call things that be not as though they were. Now when you go into Canaan, that's the way you live. You live the wilderness different Canaan. I gotta call things. I gotta believe. I receive when I pray. And I don't see anything tangibly yet. Isn't that something? Now this, this, this seems simple, but it's not. Because if it was everybody be doing it. Because when you start out believing you've received it, you got an enemy there job. It is to prove that you don't have it. And if you're living by your flesh and so forth or something that you can see Feel, touch, taste and smell. You'll be fooled. You've got to feel nothing. And the more nothing you feel, the more it's working. You better get that. That to feel nothing. Do you know how it feels to feel nothing? You can't feel it, but you got to be willing to almost trust your life with it. Something you can't see, that's when you get that big stuff. The bigger the stuff, the less you have any indication that it's working. When I believe God for some, you know, a suit or something like that, you might feel something. But when you get to believe God for shopping malls, an airplane. Come on, help me somebody for Bentley. You can't believe you. You believe your eyes. Believe. Believe your believer. Believe your heart. This is what Canaan is all about. It's called word land. Isn't that something? All this God's got, that's got to be appreciated. Faith. The words that you speak. Okay, I took it. One more. Say I'm the captain of my own ship. Let's start at James, chapter three, verse two. Ready? Read.
Reader
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man and able also to bridle the whole body.
Bill Winston
Now wait, I want to take that verse and put it in the niv so you can really see what it means here. See if. If you learn what I'm teaching you now, your days of lack are over. Really, you're a lot of things. Look at that verse. Ready? Read.
Reader
We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect. Able to keep their whole body in check.
Bill Winston
Now this perfect means complete or mature. So you can tell a mature saint by how they talk. Now just because you've been in here 40 years don't make you mature. But you can tell the mature the way they talk and they're able to keep the whole body in check. Read the next verse. This is verse three. Three. Ready? Read.
Reader
Behold, we put bits in the horses mouths that they may obey us. And we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships which though they be so great and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about. With a very small helm whithersoever the governor listed.
Bill Winston
Okay, A ship has on the back part of the ship a rudder. Okay, A rudder. Now this rudder is used to guide the ship. All right. Now when I have a ship, the way I control the rudder is with the helm. Bring me a helm out here. Robert, let them see a helm. Now this is what Controls the rudder. You might call it a steering wheel if you have a car. And this little thing can control a big ship. You know, people wonder how did the ship turn? It turns by the helm. Well, what's the helm do? It cocks a rudder, see? And if I'm going one way and I want to go to another way, I turn that right there. Okay, Substitute this right here for your tongue. If I want to go another way, turn your tongue. Now this is the way you're going to get God's blessing. You're not willing to turn the tongue, nothing won't happen. Cause if I keep this where it is, I'm going to go straight down this wherever lake or river or whatever that I've been going so far. I'm going further down that place. I can put some more juice to it and speed up the boat. If I'm driving a car, I can mash on the accelerator. But that won't change anything because I haven't changed my tongue. I haven't turned it, see? I got to turn my tongue. Now turning the tone can be a little more difficult than you think. Because you got to say you've got something that you don't have in the natural, but you got to turn your tongue. So now you're going to be speaking something that isn't seen yet. But as you speak it, you're coming into it. Now, the enemy going to try to tell you that. No, you're just saying that. Tell them to go hide because you gonna keep saying it. So if I want to turn my life, I gotta turn to hell. Now wait a minute. I've. In my life, I've been experiencing all kinds of stuff. I'm not talking about me. I'm using an example, the first verse. I might have been experiencing this or that or that. I want to get out of that because I'm saved now. And I want to get the benefits of a saved life. So I got to change my tongue. I got to make it say something it hadn't been said. Now this I said, sounds easy, but it could become difficult for people who used to run it off at the mouth. You see, they used to vent. I would say anything. I'm going on social media, see, all that has come to try to take us away from the word power, see. Cause every word you speak supposed to work. So now they turned about. Bear a very small helm. Now let's go to. Stand right here a minute. Let's go to Proverbs, chapter 18 and verse 20 and 21. Ready read.
Reader
A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth, and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
Bill Winston
Now, you're not going to necessarily be filled because you're working hard. That might be part of it. I mean, it's something too diligent. But there's something to this tone because I've seen people work hard all their life and at the end of work they get 40 years to get a Timex and go home and get on Medicare. But you are going to be different because you going. You going to watch your mouth and turn your tongue and get life. Look at the next verse. Look at the next verse. Ready? Read.
Reader
Death and life are in the power of the time.
Bill Winston
What?
Reader
Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
Bill Winston
What?
Reader
Death and life are in the power.
Bill Winston
Of the tongue, not in the power that hurricane that just came. It's in the power of the tongue. You are the captain of your ship. And read the rest of that. Put it back up there, please. Read the rest of that.
Reader
And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Bill Winston
Ah, Lord, what you love. Do you love death? Do you love life? You see what I'm saying? Oh, that always happens to me. See, that's death. You love death. See, you can't let Satan put pressure on you and, and you run off at the mouth. You got to love life. Matter of fact, he tells you to bless people first. Peter, chapter three. Ready? Read.
Reader
Finally. Be ye all of one mind, having compassion, one of another love as brethren. Be pitiful, be courteous.
Bill Winston
Now be pitiful. That don't mean pity, you know, like you. All right, be courteous. What else?
Reader
Not rendering evil for evil or railing for railing, but contrarian wise blessing, knowing that ye are there unto called that ye should inherit a blessing.
Bill Winston
So God wants us to bless people, not to curse them. You got what I'm saying? So that's what you can do with your tongue. All right, Robert, thank you. Now, a very small helm compared to. Let's go back to James now. Chapter three, verse four again. Ready? Read.
Reader
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm whithersoever the governor listeth.
Bill Winston
Keep going.
Reader
Even so the tongue is a little member and boasteth great things. Behold how great a matter a little fire kindleth.
Bill Winston
Now, greater matter a little fire kindleth. You can go to a forest and the forest be burnt out. This house is destroyed. That. Now how did that happen? Somebody Threw down a match or a cigarette or something and did this. He's comparing that with your tongue. You can destroy a whole place. Lord have mercy. This, it's. It's. It boasteth great things. It can do great things. Just one tone. So we want to make sure we keep control of our tongue. Want to make sure we speak the words of God and not the words of the devil. Somebody say amen. So from now on, you're going to speak blessing. Your mouth is made for increase. You got to speak it even when you don't see it. And I'm speaking this right now. I told you on Madison street, that's the way we got the congregation there. We moved up there, and half the people didn't want to come from Lake and Pelaska. Put the picture up there. Now put that other one up there. This is what. This is where we came from, right there. And then we moved up to there. Wouldn't you want to come there? Why put your first picture up there? Why? Why would you want to stay there? No, I mean. I mean, just. I'm asking you, would you want us to stay there? But that they did. So we ended up with half the congregation. Now, the man told me that the rent was 3,000amonth. He may as well said 3 million because I didn't have it. But God told me to move. Now he's about to teach me how to move. So what happened? We came in there with a little. Few people that we had and so forth and joined. I said, how to get this thing up? So I heard a man named Fred Price, Dr. Fred Price, he's gone on to be with the Lord and he's teaching on this. He said, you're the captain of your own ship. I said, captain of my own ship. And then he showed Me Matthew, chapter 12 and verse 35. Ready?
Reader
Read a good man out of the good. Treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things.
Bill Winston
The women. He's telling me my future is not out there. My future isn't here. And if I know what I'm doing, I can bring it out. So nobody has control of my future but me. I'm the captain own ship. So if I'm putting that on somebody else, that's my fault. That's kind of what I call ignorance. But if I know that I got everything in the world to do with my future, that God has already planned my future, he's already called me prosperous. He's already called me healed. Then I need to go by the fact that all I have to do is get what's in here and pull it out there. So I said, wait a minute. Them staying back has nothing to do with me being successful up here. So what I'm going to do, even though they stayed back, I'm going to make me up a confession. I'm going to say it every day. Cause the blood of the lamb and the word of his testimony. And if you can say it, you can see it. So I made up that confession. Everybody started singing. We have a house full. Three services. People lined up down the sidewalk. Folks, short time we had three services, place was full. And people lined up down the sidewalk doing this. You know, I like. You have to come to the bathroom or something. They're doing this. But they weren't doing this because they had to go to the bathroom. They was doing it because they was raring to get into that service. I had to show you that. But anyway, can't you see it was full? Because I'm the captain of my own ship now. Black folks just need to stop putting it on some other race. Well, they won't promote me. Well, they don't like me down there. They don't like y'. All. And so they didn't like me in Forest Park. But they had to give it up. Cause it came out of here. It didn't come out of them. It came out of me. And if God before you, who can stand, stand again. Now, I'm telling you that Coach Jones, you end up cheering and carrying on. But I'm expecting these principles to be done from now on. Ain't nobody going to complain. You're no more complaining in this place. Well, I don't like this. I don't like. Change it. Start saying something in here that will bless the people. Now say Amen. Do y' all understand what I just taught and how the helm was here? Now, I'm expecting you to go home and talk different. Come on. I'm expecting you to come in here with a pocket full of money. I'm expecting you to come in here with a pocket full of money. I'm expecting you to come in here with a pocket full of. The days of you being broke should be over. You are working. I know you working. I just told you. Work alone won't do it. If the enemy can keep your tongue where he's got it, you will stay down the side same street. And want to turn, but not turn and keep going down that same street and nothing will change. But you take that stern will and dare to turn it. Now, I Know, while it looks like you're going the same way, it looks like you're getting the same result. But you just keep that stern wheel turn and life for you will have to take a turn. Boy, I'm preaching Good man. See, you think that words are just sticks and stones. They break my bones, but words will never hurt me. The devil made up that. Don't ever say that about your life again. Words will kill you faster than that medicine. Words are powerful. They're the most powerful. Word filled with faith is the most powerful thing in the universe. Now learn to touch the tongue to guard your mouth and your mind. Well, praise the Lord. I trust that you would do that teaching with the power of the tongue. I'm telling you, the tongue has power. We call it word power. You can speak word and change things. Yes, you can. I mean, when you getting married or something like that, you speak words, don't you? And when you speak words, it's done legally, whether you meant it or not, it took hold. And I'm just saying if your life is going the wrong way, got a certain will. It's called the tongue. Change it. Change what you're saying. When you change what you're saying, you'll change where you go. Your destiny can be changed with your tongue. That's a powerful truth. A lot of people, well, sticks and stones will break my bone, but words will never hurt. Don't believe that you're going to get power in your tongue. And I'm telling you, it can do marvelous things. So people work all their life and try to save some money and into the 40 or 50 years of work, you know, still have a mortgage or whatever, why you didn't add your tongue to it. Add your tongue, watch it turn out differently in a short time at all. So steering wheel of your life is your tongue. Get it right and you'll go places you've never thought you could go just by speaking right words. Get to tape. It's a powerful teaching. Praise God. Well, this is Bill Winston saying we enjoy bringing these teachings to you. Until next time, keep walking by faith.

This is Bill Winston. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever received Jesus Christ, your Lord and Savior? Now, somebody said, well, I don't know about that. Let me tell you. When I was a kid, I went to church with mom and dad. But I found out when I got older I really didn't know him. And what happened? One lady came and took me to a meeting. I confessed Jesus as lord of my life, and a miracle took place. Everything changed. I'm just saying, in your life, if you're ready for a change, it's time to confess him. You ask Jesus to come into your heart and watch the miracle take place. If you've confessed that, I want to give you my book. It's called Born Again, Spirit Filled. I want to be the first to say, welcome to the family of Almighty God. God bless you.
