Mom (0:00)
This episode of Bluey is called Escape. The heeler family is driving along a winding highway, heading toward Nana's house. In the backseat, Bluey and Bingo bounce with excitement, eager to get there. As they drive, Bingo asks, where are we going? Mom glances back with a smile. We're dropping you at Nana's, remember? Bluey and Bingo cheer together, thrilled at the thought of spending time at Nana's place. Hooray. Tv. But dad, ever the rule enforcer, shakes his head. No tv, he says, his voice light but firm. Bluey frowns. But why not? Because you've been watching it all morning, dad says with a grin. How about using your imagination and drawing some pictures instead? Bluey lets out a sigh. I don't know what to draw, she mutters. She leans over to Bingo and whispers, don't worry. Nana will let us watch tv. I heard that. Mom calls back, smiling. Then Bluey notices something unusual. Hey, why aren't you coming to Nana's? Bluey asks, tilting her head with curiosity. Mum explains, because your dad and me need some time together. Bluey is shocked. What, without us? Dad chimes in, barely able to keep a straight face. Yeah, hard to believe, isn't it? But what are you going to do? Bluey asks, trying to imagine her parents having fun without them. With a grin, dad replies, well, we're going to lie in comfy hammocks wearing sunglasses. Mom nods, adding to the dreamy picture. And drink out of coconuts with those little umbrellas. And dad adds, one more thing. And no kids allowed. Bluey and Bingo's jaws drop. What? The thought of being left out of such a fun sounding day makes the sisters squirm with excitement and disbelief. Bingo crosses her arms in determination. This is outrageous. She exclaims. We're going to come and join you. You. You can't stop us. Oh no. Here come the kids. Mom laughs, getting into the game. Dad immediately joins in, inventing a huge imaginary wall. A huge wall pops up ten hundred meters tall, he says, pretending to shield himself from them. Bluey pauses, then declares, well, we'll just hire an eagle to fly us over the wall. The two girls giggle as they imagine flying up over the wall, but mom quickly jumps in, adding another obstacle. On the other side of the wall is a huge prickle bush with big prickles. The prickle bush seems like the perfect deterrent, but Bingo is quick on her feet. I brought a lawnmower. Bingo shouts, pretending to mow down the imaginary prickle bush. Oh no. Dad gasps, pretending to be horrified as they clear the bush with the Prickle bush gone. Mom and dad pretend to escape into a secret tunnel heading to their hammocks underground. Well, we'll go down the tunnel too. Bingo says, her determination unshaken. Mom, trying to stay a step ahead, says, you can't. There's a manhole cover which is locked. Bluey pauses to think. Then I'll get an ax and chop a hole in it. But mom shakes her head. It's made of metal. Your ax breaks. So. Bluey frowns, deep in thought. What chops through metal? Dad can't help but offer a suggestion. A diamond. Mom laughs. Don't help them. But Bluey's mind is made up. We'll use a diamond ax and chop through it. She says, triumphant. Oh no. Dad cries as the girls make their way closer. Quick. We need to get in the car. Mom shouts, and they imagine speeding off in a fancy getaway car. Bluey and Bingo aren't far behind. Bluey, let's get in the Dream House car. Bingo says excitedly, picturing an enormous, luxurious vehicle. The what? Dad asks, a bit confused. The dream House car, Bluey explains. Bingo goes on. It's like a giant dream house on wheels with 11 burger shops, 20 bedrooms and 40 toilets. And a spa on the balcony, Bluey adds with a grin. Who's driving it? Dad asks. Bewildered butlers, Bluey replies, as though it's the most obvious answer. Oh no. Punch it, Mom. Dad laughs, pretending to step on the gas. The girls giggle, urging their butlers to drive faster. An intense car chase begins, with mom and dad pretending to swerve and Bluey and Bingo gaining ground in the fanciful dream house car. As the chase rages on, mom and dad laugh, feeling the girls closing in. We drive into the airport, get in the helicopter and fly off. Dad announces. But Bluey has another trick up her sleeve. Well, our dream House car turns into a rocket and flies up after you. She shouts, determined not to let her parents escape. Mom, still laughing, shakes her head. Who made this thing? She asks, genuinely curious. Bluey smiles. Jerry Lee, our science butler. The girls imagine Jerry Lee pressing a button, sending the car rocketing up into the sky. It isn't long before they've nearly caught up to their parents. Helicopter, quick. Mom says, pretending to panic. That's it. We're punching out. She and dad jump out of the imaginary helicopter, floating to the ground with parachutes. But the girls aren't giving up yet. Well, we have special parachutes that still have the spa attached to them. Bluey announces, laughing as she imagines them floating down in St. Style And Jerry Lee is there fanning us. Bingo adds. Mom sighs with a smile. That Jerry Lee sure earns his money. In the midst of all this pretend action, dad announces that they leg it. But the girls respond by throwing cupcakes at mom and dad. The girls squeal with delight, picturing cupcakes flying through the air. Mom pretends to catch a few and eat them. J Just as mom and dad think they finally escaped, the girls trap them against a towering imaginary cliff a million, million miles high. Bluey says with a gleam in her eye, we're trapped. Dad exclaims, pretending to look around frantically. Just then, Bluey and Bingo's parachutes touch down and they grin at their captives. Aha. You've got nowhere to run now. Bluey says, triumphant. Mom sighs in defeat. Okay, you win. We give up. You caught us. But Bluey and Bingo shake their heads. No. You have to keep trying to get away. We like it when you run away from us. Dad holds out his arms. Oh, don't be silly. Give us a hug. But Bluey and Bingo shake their heads, laughing, and turn to run. No. Run, Bingo. Without missing a beat, dad laughs. Quick, they're getting away. Mom and dad chase after them, laughing as the girls hop on imaginary scooters, making their way to a pretend rocket launch pad. The girls blast off into space, laughing as they imagine Mum and Dad latch onto the side of their rocket as it enters space. Because there's no air in space, mom and dad have to hold onto their breath for as long as they can. But they can't do it forever, and eventually they jump off the rocket and head back to Earth. Hooray. We win. The girls shout. Mom and dad, exhausted but laughing, finally call a truce. Well done, girls. Mom says, chuckling as they pretend to drift back down to Earth. And just then, they pull up to Nana's house. We're here. Dad announces, and the girls leap out, waving goodbye to their parents as Nana greets them. As they walk inside, Nana says to mom and dad, now you two make the most of it. It's not easy getting time to yourselves. Mom agrees and says it certainly isn't. When mom and dad leave, Bingo asks Nana, can we watch tv? But Bluey shakes her head, surprising them all. No, Bingo, let's draw. She says, inspired by their wild adventure, grinning, Nana sets out the pens and paper. As Bluey and Bingo start to sketch their dream house car, Jerry Lee the science butler, and all the fantastic scenes from their day chasing mom and dad, Nana compliments them on their amazing imaginations. And wonders where they come up with all these ideas. As Mum and Dad drive off, they finally settle back, coconuts in hand, relaxing in their imaginary hammocks. And at last, no kids allowed.
