Rising from private to Gunnery Sergeant in the 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, Gary served as a drill instructor at Parris Island, series Gunnery Sergeant, and acting First Sergeant. After retiring from the Corps, he earned his doctorate and continued his mission in civilian life mentoring youth, feeding the homeless, leading workforce development programs, and building the character-first philosophy he spent decades refining on the battlefield.
