The new book ‘Leaving Russia: How Putin Forced A Nation’s Future to Flee’ details how intellectuals, dissidents and the young educated classes are quitting Russia in their thousands - including the books author Jason Corcoran who moved his family out due to repression and State control. Jason joined Joe this morning.

The Danish renewable energy giant Ørsted sold its European onshore business recently and what emerged from that sale process is a business called Perigus Energy. It already has almost 400 MW of wind power capacity here but aims to double that in the next year or two and potentially triple it before the end of the decade. But the same old planning issues hold it back and connecting that renewable energy to the grid is also a headache. Speaking to Joe was TJ Hunter the Managing Director Ireland and UK at Perigus Energy.

The publicity surrounding autoenrollment has created a surge in inquiries for all types of retirement planning. But a survey for LIA and the Financial Planning Standards Board has found that while we may feel we are earning enough we also feel that we’re not prepared for retirement financially. To discuss this further Joe spoke to Emer Kirk, Financial Planning Standards Board Ireland

Startups and scaleups need the help of angel investors and venture capitalists to take the kind of risks that normal banks can't or won't take. The State plays a key role in supporting entrepreneurs with little more than an idea and some vim. That’s where Enterprise Ireland comes in. Ireland’s second busiest port in Cork has a massive plan in mind to move itself from the quays to Ringaskiddy. It hopes the move will boost its already existing traffic of 1.9million tonnes of freight a year. It also wants to beef up its presence as the only cruise ship berth in Ireland. Ann Doherty, chief executive of the Port of Cork company tells Joe about all these plans.

NorDan, the Scandinavian manufacturer is gaining from the surge in home building and renovation in Ireland with sales up 33% last year alone.
