You’re probably thinking why does Lesley want to talk to me about breathing, I already know how to do that? You do, you’ve been doing it all your life! But I expect since you were a baby, the way you breathe has changed quite a lot. Hi I’m Lesley Darling and I’m passionate about empowering women with a breast cancer diagnosis, putting them back in control of their wellbeing. Always take 100% responsibility for yourself, discuss anything that may affect your mental or physical health with your own medical support team. I am not medically trained and what I offer here is to inform and entertain. In this episode we talk about: * How babies know what’s good for them and breathe deeply into their bellies. * How the sound of a sigh gets positive results. * The benefits of slowing down our breathing to make it deeper and help to calm down our stress response. * Bringing ourselves back into the moment. * Counting to slow our breathing or blowing down a tiny straw. * Finally, we get our beautiful heart involved and breathe right into and out of our heart space.

Hi there, if you're looking at this you're probably in the same club as me, the one you didn't ask to join - the breast cancer diagnosis club. I was diagnosed in 2017 and my podcast is a place to share the tools that have really helped me navigate this journey from diagnosis, to lumpectomy, to mastectomy and DIEP reconstruction, to where I am now and beyond. I'm a lifelong learner, so I am always reading a book (or 6), taking a course (or 3) and talking to experts in the field. I was a research scientist so I love cutting edge and finding new things to try. But I also have a deeply spiritual side, my husband calls it 'woo woo stuff'! For the last 25 years, I've also been involved in personal growth and alternative or complementary therapies to support the whole person, mind, body and spirit. I'm an EFT and Matrix Reimprinting practitioner, and a transformation coach and I have worked with clients 1:1 and in groups. My podcast is to share what I'm finding works for me and the people I work with. Knowledge isn't power unless you use it. I will share my own stories as an example of personal transformation along with what works for me and suggestions for you to try. There is no one size fits all so consider this a buffet where you get to choose what you want, try new things, leave them out if you don't like them. DISCLAIMER: your wellbeing is your responsibility and you must check with your own medical professional before trying things out that may affect your mental or physical health. I am not medically trained my podcast is to inform and entertain.
