Brooke
Hey, welcome to the brand new full show on the official Brooke and Jeffrey podcast. And Jeffrey is on fire right now. Can I say last week's I don't want to say diarrhea song of the week? What was it called? Cyclosporine.
Alexis
Yes.
Brooke
Whatever he called it just.
Jose
It was about the runs.
Brooke
Yes, yes. It went mega viral. Thank you everyone for watching, sharing, and this week. Dude, he is on topic, on point again, because he's singing about, well, the most beloved feral raccoon out there. Definitely stick around for it.
Alexis
I mean, I saw some comments saying Jeffrey's next song of the week better be about Jimothy.
Jeffrey
He knows.
Brooke
He knows.
Jose
Yeah, it's funny because Jeff will either do Jimothy or he'll be like. Or the holiday from 300 years ago. You forgot about about turnips.
Brooke
All right, we got that. Plus a brand new second date update. A lot of fun on the way. But first, comments.
Alexis
Mun commented that they got the Olive Garden pass. What?
Jose
You're like a celebrity.
Alexis
They said, I would have never if y' all didn't mention it the other
Jose
day, but we couldn't even get one.
Brooke
I am mad because that makes it sound so easy. Yeah, it was so hard. We all tried to log in as soon as it opened, and we were like 100,000 people ahead of you in line. 80,000 people ahead of you.
Jose
Okay, if you sell us your pass, Brook will give you $100 more than what you paid.
Alexis
Oh, wait, that doesn't make the pass worth it then.
Jose
Why? We're not paying anything, Alexis.
Brooke
Yeah. All right, let's get to your brand new full show right now.
Jeffrey
Hello and good morning to our one and only remaining listener.
Scott
Another one dropped on.
Jeffrey
Thank God they're in a coma and physically can't turn the radio off. We appreciate that.
Brooke
Dude, if that nursing staff goes against us, I swear, seriously.
Jeffrey
It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. And quick question for the room. Is it okay or not okay to take a phone call on a plane mid flight?
Jose
Not okay unless it's an emergency.
Brooke
No, you're not supposed to have your phone on.
Jake
Yeah, that's terrorism.
Jeffrey
Well, here's some interesting news. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have already said yes to it.
Melanie
No.
Jeffrey
In fact, several foreign airlines are cool with WI FI calls. As long as you keep your voice somewhat reasonable.
Jose
Guys.
Sal
No.
Jeffrey
As for the U.S. well, Congress is involved.
Jose
Oh. So you know that's not gonna work.
Jeffrey
It's gonna be a problem.
Brooke
So they've gotta figure out how to make a phone call. First.
Jeffrey
Well, they're trying to pass a new bipartisan bill. Alexis, explain what bipartisan is real quick.
Alexis
All right, we don't have time. Sorry.
Jeffrey
Darn good.
Alexis
Catch it on our Saturday podcast. I'll do it there.
Jose
She knows too much about it.
Jeffrey
Good call. But anyway, this new bill would officially ban all phone and video calls on airplanes in the United States.
Brooke
Let's go. Us.
Jose
Come on, guys. We can text, we can mess a little bit. All right?
Jeffrey
But the question is, why are we zigging when everybody else on the planet is zagging?
Brooke
Because we are so loud on the phone. Have you heard an American on the phone? They're literally yelling, you guys are onto it.
Jeffrey
They say it's a, quote, safety issue. Yeah, because Americans would struggle to keep their voices to a minimum, and they're worried more passenger fights would break out because of it. That's how Congress feels.
Alexis
But what if someone called us for a second date update from the plane
Jeffrey
drama?
Jose
I love that.
Jeffrey
What do they airlines think about it? Quietly. They're okay with it. Oh, because they could charge you more money.
Brooke
Sign up for the wi fi plan.
Jeffrey
So we'll see what happens. But that's where we are with taking cell phone calls on airplanes. Now let's get to the shot caller question of the day with Jake, who has allowed me to take phone calls during this segment and nobody else. So, Jake, let's do it.
Jake
If you didn't notice the movie the Odyssey crushed at the box office last week.
Jose
It's all in my algorithm.
Jake
Bringing $123 million starring legendary actor Matt Damon.
Sal
Matt Damon.
Jake
Coincidentally, 28 years ago on this very day, he played the role of Private Ryan in the classic film Shaving Ryan's Privates.
Jose
No, that's not.
Jake
I never saw it sounds right to me.
Brooke
There's one really intense scene made me cry.
Jake
This man has survived war zones, deep
Jose
space running, and he's a lot of physical activity.
Jake
Tons of running in these movies, and he's still going strong. And that's why, in honor of one of Hollywood's most dependable leading men, it's time for a special gaming for Damon edition of plenty of 20. Now, you'll say number one through 20. I'll give you a trivia cue about good old Matty D. Just answer it correctly. To stay in the game, we'll start with the woman who does an absolutely killa Boston accent, and she's committed to answering all her questions in it.
Jose
Alexis, show up.
Jake
Give me a number in a Boston accent.
Melanie
I need to hear one.
Alexis
So I could copy.
Jose
Gotta go pack the cat.
Brooke
Yeah, I'll take seven.
Sal
Not bad.
Jake
I'm blown away by you every day, Alexis.
Melanie
Thank you.
Alexis
I don't know.
Jake
All right, number seven. In 1997, Matt Damon did a movie with his best buddy Ben Affleck where a famous phrase was uttered that's still used in pop culture to this day. That's how do you like them apples? Now give me the name of the infamous three word movie title or what legendary comedian also starred in it? Either one.
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Jose
No help from the room, I assume.
Alexis
Yeah, I don't know legendary comedians. So we're just gonna count that on to now.
Sal
Wow.
Brooke
Oh, beloved.
Alexis
Is he in Good Will Hunting? That's the only movie I can think of. Is that a cop? Like, I don't know.
Jeffrey
I can't understand her without a Boston accent.
Alexis
It's go wheel hunting. Not any accent.
Jake
Alexis. Goodwill hunting. I think she said goodwill.
Brooke
I hate that. You got that right.
Jose
The list so we can hear the accent more.
Brooke
It's with Robin Williams.
Jose
Oh, legend.
Jake
All right. Alexis got hers right. Brooke, we're over to you. Seven has been chosen.
Jose
Wow.
Jake
I'm gonna ask that. Brooke, don't do a Boston was bad.
Jeffrey
You might have to bleep that now I'm craving.
Jake
I'm gonna like. Yeah, Assume you said four. Oh, Brooke, this is multiple choice.
Brooke
Oh.
Jake
Matt Damon won his first Academy award at just 27 years old. Alexis, what did for? Was it best actor, best director, best screenplay, or best use of rcf? Resting confused face.
Brooke
Okay. I mean, he is good at resting confused face. Like, what is that?
Jake
One of the best squinters I've ever seen.
Brooke
Yes, but I think it was for Good Will Hunting because I remember him and Ben Affleck accepting an award together and being really excited. And I know that they wrote Goodwill Hunting together. So give me screenplay.
Jake
Brooke thinks it's a screenplay.
Sal
Correct.
Jake
It was the screenplay for Good Will Hunting. They did co accept the award together. And they did kiss on the mouth.
Brooke
That's right.
Jake
Both ladies got theirs right. Jose, we're over to you. Four and seven are off the board.
Jose
Let's go number eight.
Jake
Oh, another multiple choice. Matt Damon has starred in more than 60 movies. Which franchise has he appeared in? The most interesting? Is it the Ocean's franchise? Like Ocean's Eleven? The Jason Bourne, the Avengers movies or the Departed 2? Still looking for pocking.
Jose
Oh, man. I only saw the first Jason Bourne. Isn't there like four of them?
Brooke
I don't know.
Jose
That's what I'm trying to remember. And the Ocean series has at least three. Is it sneaky?
Alexis
And he's.
Brooke
Just do it.
Jose
I'm go with Jason Bourne.
Jake
Jose thinks Matt Damon's appeared mostly in the Jason Bourne series. He's played Jason Bourne in five different films.
Jose
Wow.
Jake
And more coming out, apparently.
Brooke
Wow. Jason Bourne again and again.
Jake
Brooke, please keep it down. Jeffrey, we're over to you.
Jeffrey
15.
Jake
Matt Damon famously turned down starring in which movie? A decision that reportedly cost him a ton of dough. What film was it? Was it Avatar? Titanic? Iron Man?
Jose
Oh, my gosh.
Jake
Or Alvin and the Chipmunks Endgame. This time it's nutty.
Jeffrey
Oh my God. Okay, well, I'm guessing probably because he like only wanted to paint himself nude and he got jealous of the fact that Kate Winslet was gonna have it. He turned down Titanic.
Alexis
No way.
Brooke
He was big enough at that time. Like he had goodwill hunting. Okay, fine.
Jake
Just an Academy Award winner at the time. What an awful guess. Jeffrey. Jeffrey says Titanic. It was an awful guess. Avatar. He turned down the role of Jake Sully. I believe he turned down an offer that included percentage points of Avatar's profit. So probably a cool quarter bill there. That Matty D. They're building an Avatar
Brooke
world right now and he's so poor. That's so sad.
Jake
After that means Jeffrey has lost today's.
Jeffrey
Well, since I lost, I get to choose who get shocked. And it's going to be booked.
Brooke
No, that was a terrible guess. Obviously they were making Titanic as he was getting on stage accepting an award.
Jose
Obviously.
Sal
Idiot. Hands touching hands.
Alexis
So bad.
Brooke
Oh, is it pile on Jeff day? Yeah, I love that day.
Jeffrey
All right, well, that's your failure of a shot collar. Question of the day.
Sal
Thanks to me.
Ian
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning
Jeffrey
looking for a job. You're not alone. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. They're calling it Hot NILF Summer.
Brooke
Nilf.
Jeffrey
That's N I L F for not in the labor force.
Alexis
Good time to be unemployed. It's summer at least.
Jeffrey
Why are they saying this? Because a shocking 105 million Americans are reportedly not working right now, which is.
Brooke
Does that include my children?
Jeffrey
Yeah, it does get those kids working. That's more than during COVID or during the great recession. We've done it.
Brooke
What?
Jeffrey
That's nuts.
Jose
I didn't realize that.
Jeffrey
Good for us. Okay, but there's one woman who got laid off in New York City. A 27 year old named Sahar Yana. And she was not about to just take the summer off with her unemployment check, okay? She dipped into her life savings, spent $7,000 on tools, and now just a few months later, she's on track to make six figures a year. Let's go by becoming a locksmith. And business is booming for her. She advertises being available 24 hours a day and she is booked around the clock every single day of the year.
Brooke
Dude, she looks like she could be a Hollywood actress who comes in and picks the locks for like the criminals and stuff, you know what I mean?
Jeffrey
She is very sexy. Sexy. One of the reasons why is because of her niche. She says she's one of the only female locksmiths in the business.
Brooke
Dude, I would understand that. I would want to hire a female.
Alexis
Oh, me too. I would put female only to come over if I could.
Brooke
You always think with locksmiths, I'm like, what are they gonna do now?
Jose
Yeah, that's actually true. I didn't think about.
Jeffrey
That's the problem. The industry.
Jose
Have a girl come have a spare key.
Jeffrey
Yeah, it's been a while. We'll give her the number. Yeah, for you, Jose. But the industry is. It's filled with creepy guys. And she says TikTok has absolutely helped get the word out. Her latest video has over 11 million views. And it just shows what she does. Picking locks.
Brooke
You know what? If there's any women listening, tow truck drivers. We also need some women.
Sal
Yeah.
Jose
Oh my gosh, I never thought about that. But there you go.
Jeffrey
With just $7,000 and a go getter attitude, she's reinvented her career and her life.
Brooke
Get it, girl.
Jeffrey
Hopefully that inspires people listening. If you want to make a change, you can do it.
Jose
You can do it, Jeff.
Jeffrey
So inspirational Laser stories. Right after. Hello, it's Laser Stories. It's the radio segment that's bringing PB and J's to the beverage aisle with new unsuckables. Yeah, an extra thick energy drink that you have to suck out of a three foot long straw. Oh, man.
Brooke
Why such a long straw?
Jeffrey
You get it in creamy or crunchy. With laser stories.
Jose
Crunchy.
Brooke
At the end of it, it's like
Jeffrey
Boba, the segment where we read weird news stories around the globe just like everyone else does. Except we've got a laser and those other yucky suckies just don't. This first laser story is out of Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania. I hope this couple doesn't take this as a sign their marriage is doomed. But last weekend, a 57 year old guy named Mike Thomas was given a speech at his daughter's wedding in an apple orchard.
Brooke
Okay, that's cute.
Jeffrey
When things got a little misty and he took a pause, then told his new son in law that he was a lucky man.
Brooke
I love those moments at weddings.
Ian
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Seconds after he said those words, Mike was struck by lightning.
Scott
What?
Jake
No.
Brooke
Is he okay?
Jeffrey
God's like, don't speak for me. It wasn't even raining yet, and the storm clouds were moving in behind him so he didn't see him.
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Jeffrey
So the lightning hit the sound system, traveled up through the microphone cord and zapped him on the hand.
Jose
Ain't nobody got time for that.
Brooke
You're like, I'm in an orchard full of trees. And it has to hit that.
Jose
The one thing.
Jeffrey
Fortunately, he is okay. But he does have a hell of a scorch mark on his thumb. Now, after that, Mike went and laid down in the grass and the wedding continued.
Brooke
See, that sounds like my family. You know how it does.
Alexis
Your dad's like, let it keep going. Just give me a vodka and I'll be fine.
Jeffrey
We're on a time limit here, Mike. Get out of here. Let's go to your next laser story out of Colorado. Residents in the neighborhood of Gold Hill thought a rude neighbor was honking his horn all night long.
Brooke
Oh, my gosh.
Jeffrey
So eventually, after hours of this going on, a guy named Patrick Sullivan had had enough.
Alexis
Yeah.
Brooke
Go get him.
Jeffrey
Patrick was not happy. He was awoken from his sleep more than once because of the constant horn. So he got dressed, left his house, and marched outside towards the honking car.
Brooke
Is it like an alarm going off or something?
Jeffrey
When he got there, he. He never imagined the situation that he'd run across. Instead of a bunch of teens messing around like he was expecting, he discovered the culprit was a 400 pound brown bear trapped inside of an SUV.
Jose
Oh, my God.
Brooke
Hey, buddy. You're just gonna stay there now, huh?
Jose
Yep.
Jeffrey
I mean, so what do you do in that situation? Do you call the cops?
Brooke
No. You call wildlife control?
Jeffrey
Animal Control wasn't picking up.
Brooke
Oh, I guess so.
Jeffrey
Along with another neighbor, Patrick used a long rope to open one of the vehicle's doors from a distance, allowing the bear to climb out and dash away.
Brooke
Put a stake in another person's pocket just to make sure that it wouldn't follow him.
Jeffrey
And if you're wondering, yes, the bear caused damage to the side panel of the car and set off the driver's side airbag.
Brooke
How did it get inside?
Jeffrey
Also open the door, by the way. Took a twosie in there.
Brooke
Come on.
Jose
Well, not just bear. I. I Do that when I'm scared too.
Jeffrey
That's fair. The police department followed up and believe he was trapped inside for more than three hours. And they reminded neighbors to lock their cars at night.
Brooke
Yeah.
Sal
Yeah.
Jose
Usually people say that it's not for bear Watch bears.
Brooke
Want to go for a joyride too, Jose?
Jose
My mom's asleep.
Jeffrey
Let's go to your next laser story out of Food News. You ever thought ranch dressing just wasn't exciting enough?
Brooke
I mean, it's not. No one's ever thought of it as exciting.
Jose
Yeah.
Alexis
At all.
Jeffrey
Well, if you have Wild Wings is here to fix that with something called Poppin Ranch.
Jose
Oh my God. If it's like a spicy ranch, I'm into it.
Jeffrey
It's the first ranch concoction that actually explodes in your mouth.
Sal
What?
Jose
It's like Pop Rocks.
Brooke
It's in a package like Pop Rocks.
Jeffrey
Exactly. Marketing executives for the brand want you to think Pop Rocks meets Hidden Valley.
Jose
Oh, what Exploding ranch.
Jeffrey
And they say it tastes great sprinkled directly onto your wings. Or if you want, you could stir it into your tub of ranch dressing for a little extra kick.
Jose
Imagine giving it to somebody and not telling them. I'm like, I think the ranch is expired.
Jeffrey
Poppin Ranch will launch just ahead of National Chicken wing Day on July 29.
Brooke
You don't need to tell us the date. We already had that down in our calendars.
Jeffrey
Buffalo Wings is going to celebrate by offering offering free wings with any 15 purchase at their restaurants. But in the meantime, actually low key.
Jose
That's good. Get some candies and free wings if you.
Jeffrey
In the meantime, if you want to get your hands on Poppin Ranch, they start today at Participating Wild wings for only 99 cents per packet.
Brooke
Well, I'm gonna tell you, for that price, I'd probably try it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jeffrey
Why not? Let's go to your final laser story out of Restroom Room Mania.
Brooke
Oh, no, I don't want to go there. Jeff.
Jeffrey
Gut Health brand has gone viral for the toilet shoes that they just released.
Brooke
Toilet shoes?
Jose
What's a toilet shoe?
Jeffrey
They're. Well, actually they're called S word shoes. So toilets a little safer, is it
Brooke
for when you accidentally step in dog do?
Scott
No.
Jeffrey
I'm gonna show you a picture to the host. It'll be up on our Instagram at Brooke and Jeffrey.
Jose
Please don't tell me this is in case of an emergency.
Brooke
No, it's like a squatty potty. It's attached to your feet.
Jeffrey
They're effectively a 7 inch tall heel.
Brooke
Yeah, there's platforms. Let's Be accurate, Javon.
Jeffrey
And they got little places to slip your feet. And they look like two 1970s disco pumps. Yeah, but the idea is if you wear them, you'll improve your posture as you do a number two.
Jose
Yeah, like a mobile squatty body.
Brooke
Yeah, I like the front of it says let loose. Yeah, yeah, read into that how you will. Is there male styles we can. Because this is a very female esque shoe.
Jeffrey
Well, I'll tell you, these shoes are not geared towards going outside at all. They are only supposed to be worn while inside the bathroom.
Jose
Okay. It's a squatty potty.
Brooke
I don't know. I bet they're the next big fashion item.
Jose
You'll see Kim K. Walking around.
Brooke
Let loose.
Jeffrey
Kim, these toilet shoes were made available, but they went so viral and were such a huge hit. The initial run is already sold out.
Sal
You suck.
Jeffrey
Well, so beneficial. They are taking pre orders for the next batch though. And they only cost $70.
Brooke
Wow. Dude. The heck crazy.
Alexis
You could just get your own heels this high and wear them.
Brooke
You just get a block of wood
Jeffrey
and put it there. What if they have red underneath on the bottom side of these?
Brooke
Yeah, I see there's a futon now.
Jeffrey
It's classy. As for this guy, he doesn't need help getting on the toilet. Instead he just crawls around the office and oh, look at that, there's a surprise. He left a little present in Brooke's salad bowl.
Brooke
Why in the bowl?
Jeffrey
I'm sure he's. She's not gonna notice. Yeah, this salmon's laser stories has come to an end for the day. We'll do it again same time on Monday.
Ian
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Jeffrey
You worked so hard to get that summer body. Well, now it's time to blow it
Jake
up
Jeffrey
by heading over to the state fair.
Jose
Let's get our fall fatty bodies.
Jake
That's right.
Jeffrey
Get yourself a mouthful of deep fried something. And if a bacon wrapped glitter Twinkie doesn't do it for you anymore because that was so last year.
Alexis
Made way too many of those.
Jeffrey
We've got a list of the hot new food abominations that are being sold around the country at state fairs everywhere.
Jose
Okay?
Jeffrey
And you, you won't believe the latest thing that they're deep frying. It even won an award this year. And you're going to hear all about it coming up right after this. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning. Follow us at Brooke and Jeffrey, wherever you get your podcast, please rate.
Brooke
Don't tell us what to do, Jeff.
Jeffrey
No, do It.
Jake
Please tell them they don't know what to do.
Jeffrey
If you feel like it, go check it out. Rate and review.
Jose
Yeah, you should. You want to laugh?
Jeffrey
I can't believe it snuck up on me again. It's state fair season.
Brooke
It is already. Where did summer go?
Jeffrey
You know how it is. Loop de Loop rides prize winning pigs.
Brooke
That's right.
Jeffrey
And a guy operating the Ferris wheel who you swear you've seen before. Maybe on America's Most Wanted. Hey, who knows? But more importantly, who cares? It's state fair season.
Alexis
That's right.
Brooke
I'm still getting on that roller coaster.
Jeffrey
And more than anything, State fair showcase all the foods that shouldn't be and started years ago with simple fried Oreos and fried sticks of butter. And then it got crazier and crazier over the years. And that's why today we're gonna look at the latest state fair food concoctions for this summer season.
Brooke
Okay, I feel like this is always a precursor to whatever the MLB is gonna be offering next season.
Jose
That is such a good point.
Jeffrey
The first one lives at the Florida State Fair. And I can't remember if they had this at last year's or not, but if they did, it's making headlines again. It's called the Pop Rocks pickle.
Jake
I'm gonna throw up.
Jeffrey
I'll just. I'll describe it to you. It's a kosher pickle rolled in a fruit roll up, covered in chocolate, and dusted with pop Rocks candy.
Jose
Imagine the satisfaction you got.
Sal
Saltiness.
Jose
And then.
Brooke
Were you really on the kool Aid pickle trend too?
Jose
I never tried it.
Brooke
Yeah, that. This is a no for me.
Jose
Oh, come on.
Brooke
A hot no.
Jeffrey
Well, we're not accepting that, Brooke. We're only taking yay nays or hey, neighbors.
Brooke
Oh, I still don't know if hey neighbor is a good or a bad neighbor.
Jeffrey
It's fantastic.
Jose
I'm going yay, Jeff.
Jeffrey
I hear yay. There's nay over there. But you can also have the option to substitute Pop Rocks for fruity Pebbles or hot Cheetos instead.
Brooke
Gross.
Sal
Ew.
Ian
Wow.
Jose
Less appetite.
Alexis
That's what that was in the photo. I couldn't tell. Cheetos. That's always a bad sign where you
Jose
can't tell with all the food.
Brooke
Maybe you want to dip in all three.
Jeffrey
That's Florida's best for you. Your next state fair food mashup comes. Comes from Oklahoma. This is brand new. Not sure how you're gonna feel about it. It's called insect pizza. Now, before you get too Grossed out. Remember, in many parts of the world, people eat insects for protein.
Jose
That pizza's gonna kill me, Jeff. Look at it.
Jeffrey
A few years ago, we tried chocolate covered cicadas for the show. But is Oklahoma taking this too far? Because here they're putting de venomized scorpions as their pizza.
Jose
Oh, my God, you guys.
Jake
De venomized.
Brooke
This is gonna be the one guy in your group that's like, oh, you did anything.
Jose
Let me eat it. Hey, bro, you got a stinger stuck in your tube.
Jeffrey
But they are edible. They're obviously protein packed and a lot crunchier than normal pepperoni. Can I get a yay nay hey, neighbor. On insect pizza, do we know the
Brooke
flavor of scorpion before?
Jose
I vote crunchy.
Brooke
I'm gonna go nay.
Alexis
Yeah, it's a nay. But it'd be great at a Halloween party.
Brooke
I mean.
Jose
Oh, yeah, that's true. Yeah, that is true.
Brooke
If they ground it up and just put it in a tube like all the other meats that we like, and I would have been fine with it.
Jeffrey
We're talking about the craziest foods that are being offered at state fairs around the country this year. Now let's head over to Arizona, and I have a feeling you're gonna like this one a lot better.
Brooke
Okay.
Jeffrey
It's called the watermelon taco immediately. Basically, a big triangle watermelon wedge with the center of it hollowed out. So that part acts as the taco shell.
Melanie
Okay.
Jeffrey
And then the inside is stuffed with pineapple do, whip, and tahen. That is unbelievable with an edible straw.
Jose
Disney, you better look at this, because the do is one of the best parts.
Jeffrey
They've actually been serving this since 2021, and it's one of their most popular items.
Brooke
Hey, neighbor. Jeff. Hey, neighbor.
Jeffrey
I'm done with the hey, neighbors.
Brooke
You guys, I double hay.
Jeffrey
Next up, are you a sweet and savory fan?
Brooke
Oh, yeah.
Jeffrey
People in the room like that combo. Then you're gonna love the California State fair's cotton candy cheeseburger.
Jose
No, it's sweet and savory.
Jeffrey
Two burger patties smothered in cheese, topped with a thick cloud of pink cotton candy and then sandwiched between two toasted buns. And if that's not enough for you, the creation gets crowned with a puff of blue cotton candy on the top.
Alexis
Gotta get both colors.
Brooke
Cause I just love pouring sugar on top my burger.
Jeffrey
Have you ever had the burgers that are, like, sandwiched between two crispy cream donuts?
Jose
Yeah, I've seen.
Brooke
No, Jeff. I. I like my heart,
Scott
Jeff.
Jose
I'm with you, bro.
Jeffrey
That's where we differ, bro.
Jose
Put it in a pan for a little bit.
Jeffrey
As I mentioned before, no good state fair can open without some kind of crazy deep fried concoction.
Brooke
Yeah, there we go.
Jose
Already covered them.
Scott
Not.
Sal
Not yet.
Jeffrey
So thank you to Utah for stepping up with deep deep fried jello.
Brooke
What?
Scott
How?
Jeffrey
Which is a ball of cherry jello dipped in batter and flash fried, topped with powdered sugar, whipped cream and of course, your drool.
Jose
I think I'd try this.
Jeffrey
It looks hot though.
Brooke
Here's my issue. It looks like the jello liquefied in the fryer.
Jeffrey
An 82 year old lady came up with it and it was voted best food at the fair this year. Best overall. This the same lady who invented the smoky bacon margarita in 2019? Wow.
Brooke
Whose grandma is that?
Jeffrey
They're lucky she's back on top. And finally, the messiest state fair food this year you're gonna find in the whole country belongs to Nebraska. It's called the funnel cake Bacon queso burger.
Brooke
America's favorite word.
Jose
That looks delicious. And it looks like a heart attack.
Jeffrey
It's got two funnel cakes instead of buns with applewood bacon liquid cheese sprinkled with sugar. And people say if you don't have a cholesterol issue, you will after this.
Jose
Yeah, you're gonna have to pop a couple Lipitor before eating that bad boy.
Brooke
I mean, this is not far from your donut burger. No, I mean funnel cake is essentially just better donut.
Jose
Yeah, there's more holes in this. It's gonna be healthier than your donut.
Jeffrey
Exactly what you want to be around for a longer period of time.
Jose
Yeah.
Scott
Come on.
Jeffrey
Just stupid.
Jose
I want to die with it in my hand.
Sal
Yes, please.
Jeffrey
Those were your craziest food offerings for state fair season. If you can't get there, make it yourself at home and send us a pick. Unless it's the scorpion pizza, leave that one for professionals.
Jose
Do that at home.
Jeffrey
Tap is coming up right after this. Today we call a guy who is very skeptical about auto mechanics. Oh, yeah. He does not trust them and is convinced he was scammed before even changed auto shops after that happened. So of course his girlfriend's very aware of his auto fears, which is why the second he brought his car in for routine maintenance, she reached out to us and said, get him in your phone tap right now.
Ian
Brooke and Jeffrey's phone taps on the 20s.
Scott
Hello?
Jeffrey
Hi, Dustin.
Scott
Yeah, this is Dustin.
Jeffrey
Hey, Dustin, this is Tony from auto repair. How you doing today?
Scott
Yeah, pretty good.
Jeffrey
Great. So just Wanted to give you a quick update on your vehicle here, because during the inspection, I noticed that your windshield wipers were on their last legs there looking pretty ratty. So I went ahead, just replaced those for you.
Scott
Okay. You just replaced them?
Melanie
Yeah.
Jeffrey
And look, best part about it is the ones that you needed were actually discounted $4. That's it. So normally they're triple that.
Scott
Well, that's good news. You don't hear that often things are discounted.
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Okay, good. So just confirming you're okay, that we did that.
Scott
Yeah, that's all good.
Jeffrey
Great. So with the $4 blades and the $82 of labor, we can move on to some of the other maintenance issues.
Scott
Are you saying $82 in labor for the blades?
Jeffrey
Well, 86, considering the $4 blades before tax.
Scott
I don't understand. I mean, how long can it take you to replace wiper blades? Like 10 seconds.
Jeffrey
You're not wrong. It's about 10 seconds per blade. But we charge by the hour here, so we had our best mechanic do it.
Scott
And you had your best mechanic put on wiper blades. I mean, that feels like it's a bit excessive, don't you think?
Jeffrey
I mean, customer satisfaction is our top priority. So I can take them off? It makes you feel better?
Scott
Yeah.
Jeffrey
All right, well, that'll be another 82.
Jake
What?
Jeffrey
Hold on.
Scott
On. No.
Sal
Hey, Sal. Yeah?
Jeffrey
The owner of the blue Corolla, he wants you to take the new blades off.
Jose
Off? I just put them on.
Jeffrey
Yeah, he changed his mind.
Scott
I don't want you to take them off. I didn't want you to put them on in the first place.
Jeffrey
Okay, this is getting confusing.
Scott
Listen, the only thing that's confusing is that you're adding to the bill, man.
Jeffrey
Okay, just let me see if I can stop him. Hold on.
Sal
Hey, Sal.
Jose
Yeah, yeah.
Sal
Sal, stop.
Jose
Stop what you're doing.
Jeffrey
Don't. Don't take the blades off anymore.
Jose
Wait, you just said to take the blades off.
Jeffrey
I know the customer's being difficult, man.
Scott
I'm not being difficult. They're the one being difficult.
Sal
Excuse me.
Jeffrey
Can not yell because now I can't talk to my guy here on.
Jose
Or whatever, because this takes like 10 seconds.
Jeffrey
Okay, I. Hold on. Let me check with him. So wait, do you want him on or do you want him off?
Scott
Just freeze the guy. Don't have him do anything.
Jeffrey
Okay, hold.
Sal
Hey, stop.
Jose
Freeze.
Alexis
What?
Jeffrey
Don't move.
Jose
Oh, my. Am I under arrest? What the.
Sal
Just. Just don't.
Jeffrey
He doesn't want you to move at all.
Scott
That's not what I meant sir.
Jeffrey
You told me to tell him to freeze, and I tell him to freeze, and now you're complaining?
Scott
Stop. Just stop.
Jose
Can I unfreeze?
Sal
S. Shut the up.
Jeffrey
I'm talking to the customer.
Brooke
Don't talk.
Jeffrey
What's going on? Okay. What do you want?
Scott
I want a full rundown of everything that you're gonna charge me for.
Brooke
Okay?
Scott
Understand?
Jeffrey
I got it.
Scott
Are you sure you got it?
Jeffrey
I'm sure.
Scott
Because it doesn't sound like it. It sounds like you guys are a bunch of morons.
Jose
You're right.
Jeffrey
But we're about to do the regular service on your car. But just for the blades, we've come out to a reasonable $320.
Jose
That's a bargain.
Scott
$320? Are you insane? We started with $4 per wiper for how do we get up to 320?
Jeffrey
You could thank Sal for that. He's been working really hard taking him on and off.
Brooke
Hey, you're welcome.
Scott
All right, I'm not gonna talk to you guys anymore. This is a complete scam and I'm done with it.
Jeffrey
What are you saying?
Scott
I'm telling you, you got a shady business. You're up charging me $320 for nothing. I'm coming over right now. I'm picking up my car.
Jeffrey
Well, hold it, because I do need to tell you it is a mechanics holiday today, so we're gonna be shutting the shop down early.
Scott
What are you talking about? Mechanics holiday?
Jose
Mechanics holiday?
Jeffrey
Yeah, mechanics holiday. Sal, you and me, we're getting views after this, okay?
Scott
This is the most unbelievable thing I've ever heard. You are not gonna get away with it, okay?
Jeffrey
All I'm doing is what your girlfriend Leia has do here, which is a prank on the radio.
Scott
Listen, you're not going to get away.
Jeffrey
I would bring it up with your girlfriend Leia. She's the one that listens to Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning. We're the ones who are doing that phone tap on you, so talk to her about it. Dude.
Scott
What? What? What are you even talking about? What are you talking about?
Jeffrey
I'm saying it's a joke. You're on the radio right now. My name is Jeff from Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Sal
Take a breath, man.
Jeffrey
Your girlfriend Leia said that you hate bringing your car in to get service because you're always worried about getting scammed, so she thought we could mess with you.
Scott
Oh, my God. I can't believe you got me on a mechanic holiday.
Jose
Hey, but seriously, what do you want me to do with the wipers Cuz I like I turn them on and off and off and on.
Jeffrey
Yeah, sounds really confused over here, man. Could you just give us some clarification?
Jose
You already.
Jeffrey
He says he wants eight more wiper blades. Put eight more on there.
Jose
Sal, can I unfreeze Brook and Jeffrey's phone taps on the 20s.
Ian
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Jeffrey
Dating has become so complicated and expensive.
Brooke
Yes.
Jeffrey
Where if you don't feel it in the first 30 seconds, there's now a sentence that you can say that gives you an instant free pass to get out of it.
Brooke
What?
Jose
I didn't know that.
Jeffrey
So you don't have to waste either one of your times. Now, is it a little misleading, a little untruthful?
Jake
Sure.
Jeffrey
But one of our listeners says it just happened to them and they ended up deleting their Tinder because of it.
Sal
No.
Jeffrey
Will it ever be said to you? Or maybe it already has been said. You're gonna hear what it is in your brand new second date update.
Ian
Next, Brooke and Jeffrey in the second date update.
Jeffrey
Here's a little secret. When we get emails for this segment, sometimes people like to share their dating journey.
Brooke
Oh, there's no secret there, Jeff. It's like in the title. That's what?
Jeffrey
No, I mean more than just like the date that we're talking about. Like I matched with 52 people and I found 51 had dated my stepdad.
Brooke
I see.
Jeffrey
But that means this one is good to go.
Brooke
Man, that stepdad dad must be a pro athlete.
Alexis
Well, we have the context to know why they're here.
Sal
Exactly.
Jeffrey
It's helpful in that way. And I was just using that as an example because this segment can obviously get weird. And today our listener Melanie mentioned in her email that she had a bump in the road on her dating journey recently and she'd be willing to share that with us. So, Melanie, I know that the guy that you're emailing about, his name is Scott, but apparently there was a date scheduled before that.
Scott
That.
Jeffrey
Can you tell us that story?
Melanie
Yeah. So not my best moment.
Brooke
Oh yeah, that's right. We've always had. Everyone's had those moments.
Jeffrey
So what happened?
Melanie
So we're meeting at a bar basically, and then he texts me that he's going to be 15 minutes late and I'm like, oh, that's not a big deal. Whatever. At least he's texting me.
Brooke
Yeah, gave you a heads up.
Jeffrey
More time to take shots beforehand.
Alexis
Go ahead.
Jose
I used to do that though.
Jeffrey
I mean, get loose.
Brooke
And I'm sure that that worked out
Alexis
really well, for three.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Jose
You're 15 minutes late. This is your fault.
Jeffrey
Okay, so what happens?
Melanie
So he comes up to me, he shakes my hand, like, really awkwardly, and then he says, I forgot my ID at home, so sorry. I'm gonna go back and get it. And then he never comes back.
Brooke
Oh, girl, that's not anything to do with you. Yeah?
Alexis
What do you mean? Not your best moment.
Brooke
That's his bad.
Jeffrey
Why are you embarrassed about it?
Melanie
Well, because obviously he saw me and then didn't want to do the date.
Jeffrey
Oh, you think it was an excuse?
Brooke
I hate him. Melanie, you don't listen to him, okay? You're hot, you're beautiful. You deserve someone better than that.
Jeffrey
Yeah, laying on a little bit thick, but.
Alexis
Yeah.
Brooke
Well, we don't really know. Messed up, man.
Jeffrey
It is messed up.
Jose
Your hand, he said.
Brooke
We're not defending him.
Jeffrey
Yeah, we're saying good riddance to that last guy.
Jose
Let's.
Jeffrey
Let's move on to this new guy, Scott.
Jose
Oh, I thought this is the guy we were calling.
Jeffrey
No, he was the last loser. He blew his shot. Tell us about this new.
Melanie
Well, I took a break from Tinder for, like, a month because that was just.
Brooke
Yeah, it shook you.
Melanie
Right? Exactly. And so I thought, okay, I'll try again. And that's when I met Scott.
Brooke
Okay.
Melanie
And he asked if we could just go for a walk on our date, which I loved.
Scott
That idea.
Jeffrey
Yeah, you don't need an ID to go on a walk.
Jose
I mean, it sounds kind of cheap to me. That's a free date,
Brooke
you guys. I mean, you're probably nervous even for a walk at this point because of what had just happened to you.
Melanie
Yeah, but it was nice. And he was really cute. He gave me a flower. Just one. But, you know, we walked a lot all around the city, just talked about all kinds of stuff, hobbies. And both of us like to travel, so we talked a lot about that.
Jose
Nice.
Melanie
And then it turns out I know one of his roommates, actually.
Brooke
Oh, really?
Alexis
Okay.
Brooke
That's wild.
Melanie
Yeah, his name is Max. And this is from, like, a few years ago. I haven't talked to him in a while. We've kind of lost touch.
Brooke
But. Wait, you were just friends with Max, or was there more of a situation with Max in the past?
Melanie
Let's say we are special friends.
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
That doesn't bother you at all?
Scott
No.
Melanie
I think, though, it might have bothered Scott, and maybe that's why he's not calling me, because I think I was asking too many questions about Max.
Scott
Oh.
Jose
Yeah.
Brooke
Either that or he went back and said, oh, my God, Max. And Max is like, you can't do this.
Alexis
Yeah.
Jose
Stories about share something.
Melanie
I. I don't think so.
Scott
Okay.
Alexis
I mean, like, would you consider it an exo or just. You know what I mean? Like.
Melanie
Yeah, it's just special friends. Okay.
Jose
For a long time.
Brooke
Okay, you guys, let's get over Max. That's the whole point. We're talking about Scott, right?
Jeffrey
There must have been more good moments from the. The walk with Scott.
Melanie
Yeah, yeah. At the end I thought, okay, I'm going to make sure he knows I'm into him. And so I said, hey, do you want to go back to your place and have some fun?
Brooke
Whoa. After a walk in the middle of the day.
Jose
I like this. I like her.
Brooke
Broad daylight, holding a single flower.
Jeffrey
Of course. Jose likes.
Jose
Yeah, that is a.
Alexis
That is a big jump.
Melanie
Yeah, I just wanted to, you know, hang out and get to know him more.
Jose
Have fun, bro.
Brooke
Is that what you meant by have fun?
Melanie
What do you mean by it?
Jeffrey
Brooke, why don't you explain what you mean by go back to someone's place?
Brooke
I have a feeling that I would have taken that very wrong.
Alexis
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Sal
Okay.
Jose
Yeah, go out.
Jeffrey
She busts out Scrabble.
Jose
Brook's like, wait a minute. Yeah, I have my pants off already.
Jeffrey
Sorry, Melanie. Brooke has a very, very dirty mind on this show.
Brooke
Everyone else thought the same.
Jeffrey
It was mostly you.
Brooke
That is not true.
Jose
Yeah, Brooke, come on. They just want to have fun.
Jeffrey
The rest of us are very wholesome, family oriented around here.
Scott
Melanie.
Jeffrey
So what does Scott say to your open invitation?
Melanie
He said he had a few things going on and he wasn't sure and he would text me later. Call me later.
Jeffrey
So after you left it with Scott, what's happened since?
Melanie
Nothing. I never heard from him. And it's been a couple of days now, and I texted, are you okay? And nothing.
Brooke
I think we're gonna get either a story from Max or, yeah, it's an
Jose
old story or something.
Brooke
Or some sort of definition of fun.
Jeffrey
Well, either way, you deserve to get the answers that you came here seeking. So let's reach out to Scott. We'll see if he picks up. And hopeful he can explain why he turned down your very enticing invite to hang out and play board games at his place when we do your second date update right after this. Hold on.
Melanie
Thank you.
Ian
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Brooke
Second date update.
Jeffrey
If you're just joining us, our listener, Melanie was on a date with a guy taking a long walk through the city when she found out she knows his roommate. She described it as a, quote, special friend, fun situation, which I don't know what that means now. I thought I did, but I'm not so sure anymore.
Jose
Yeah, it's also true.
Jeffrey
Still, obviously, it complicates things. The main issue being she spent a lot of time asking about the roommate and much less time actually talking about Scott. Her date, himself.
Brooke
But she tried to make up for it.
Jeffrey
I mean, she did.
Alexis
Yeah.
Jeffrey
That's why I'm.
Brooke
She realized it.
Jeffrey
She had kind of an invitation back to her. Her place and back to his place.
Brooke
Any place, anywhere would have worked, but
Jeffrey
just to hang out.
Alexis
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Again, don't know exactly what the situation is, but clearly he has not spoken to her since. So my theory, Melanie, Is it possible Scott went back to his roommate, told him the story, and the roomie said, whoa, be careful. She's wifey material? And that thought scared me.
Scott
Him.
Jeffrey
What do you think?
Jose
She's perfect.
Melanie
Everyone was thinking, Jeff, I don't think that's it.
Brooke
Okay.
Melanie
But I don't know.
Brooke
Well. Well, I mean, it's still on the table.
Jeffrey
You wouldn't describe yourself as wifey material.
Jose
Should think that's it.
Melanie
I mean, I guess. Yeah.
Sal
Yeah.
Jeffrey
See, anything's a possibility. Let's call Scott. We'll see if he even picks up and hopefully can clear this whole situation up. Are you ready, Melanie?
Melanie
Yeah.
Jeffrey
All right, let's get some answers.
Melanie
Excited. Like, really excited.
Brooke
Maybe we should tone that back a little bit. Little concerned about that. Let's maybe take a deep breath and.
Jeffrey
Okay, Brooke, that's good advice. I'm gonna take a deep breath right now before we make this call.
Jose
Nice.
Brooke
It is good. It resets.
Alexis
This is wasting our time, Jeff.
Jeffrey
It was Brooke's advice. Okay, I'm just gonna dial the number. Here we go.
Scott
Go. Hello?
Jeffrey
Hey, is this Scott?
Scott
Yeah. Who's calling, please?
Jeffrey
Hey, Scott, you're on a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning, and the entire world is listening. How are you doing?
Alexis
Dramatic.
Brooke
Really overshot that.
Scott
Yeah. I mean, is this a prank?
Jose
The entire world thing is. Yeah, we do.
Brooke
We do pranks. We do that.
Jeffrey
But that's not what this segment is.
Melanie
Is.
Jeffrey
We're calling because you made one of our listeners sad by ghosting her after your date.
Scott
Who?
Brooke
Okay, who?
Jeffrey
That's a good question. It's a woman named Melanie.
Brooke
A lovely woman you went on a walk with.
Scott
No, no, no, no, no. I'm. Are you guys serious?
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Scott
For real.
Jeffrey
This is a segment we do called Second Date Update. Trying to give you a chance.
Scott
No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm not. This has got to be a joke. I'm not. I'm not doing this.
Brooke
Hold on, hold on. Crazy is kind of a wild reaction. You guys went on a walk together?
Scott
Yeah, I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. Did she call? Like, what is.
Brooke
I don't think I said about Melanie.
Jeffrey
I know this is an overwhelming experience for you, Scott. We're calling you out of the blue, and I get that, but we're just trying to give you a chance to explain why after the date, Melanie hasn't heard from you. Because she's confused.
Scott
I don't think I should be talking to you about this. Honestly, I don't know what to say.
Jeffrey
Why?
Scott
Yeah, really?
Brooke
Okay. She did tell us that she knows your roommate from the past.
Scott
Are you kidding me? No. Like, I. Yes, she knows my roommate. Like, I don't know. She called you guys. This is crazy. You understand?
Jeffrey
Why are you having this reaction, Scott?
Scott
I don't. I don't. I don't even want to say much. Like, I. I don't. I don't want to talk about this. I don't want to know anything about. I don't want to be involved in. In this at all.
Jeffrey
Okay, so did you tell your roommate that you went out with her?
Scott
Yeah, I told my roommate I went out with her.
Brooke
Like, okay, okay, that's where we need to go next. What did the roommate say?
Jeffrey
What was the reaction?
Scott
He freaked the out.
Brooke
Why?
Scott
I tell him. I tell him I go on this date with this girl named Melanie, and he looks at me like I have four heads.
Brooke
Oh.
Scott
And he's just like, let me see. I showed you him her picture and he just. Without saying anything or doing anything else, he just takes his phone out of his pocket and he dials 91 1.
Brooke
What?
Scott
He's like, dude, did she follow you home? Did she just know where you live?
Brooke
Oh, my God. Is she stalking your roommate?
Scott
I don't know. I don't know anything. The cops, they show up?
Brooke
No, they actually came?
Scott
Yes, they came. And there's like, footprints in our backyard. And he's like, like, thinking it's her. And, like, I'm asking him about it and he's like, didn't want to talk about it. Like, I don't know anything. I don't want to know.
Jeffrey
So, Scott, your roommate didn't say anything about this. Like, did he provide any background?
Scott
No, he. He was just like, dude, leave it don't get involved. This is bad enough.
Jeffrey
Oh, my God.
Brooke
Okay, if the cops show up, that's all the background we need, Jeff. Okay, cops don't just show up up when you see picture. Picture of someone on a dating app,
Jose
a history of something.
Jeffrey
I've had cops show up randomly and tear their pants off, but that was for a different sort. Well, they s dressed like them.
Brooke
No. Okay, this is so bad.
Jeffrey
So, I mean, at this point, what do we do?
Brooke
Well, we have to tell them I'm
Jeffrey
with you, but I. I don't know the right way to do it.
Brooke
Not freaking out about this. We should not have her trying to
Jeffrey
stay calm and keep the situation tame.
Jose
Do we hang up because.
Jeffrey
Because, Scott, here's what you need to know. And don't freak out about it.
Alexis
Or do freak out.
Jeffrey
Please don't. But Melanie is actually on this phone call right now listening to it.
Scott
No, no, it's okay.
Sal
Hold on.
Brooke
I'm so sorry. We are so sorry. Scott.
Scott
I gotta. I can't talk to. I can't talk to her.
Jeffrey
You don't have to talk to her. Just hear her out for one second and then if not, we can always have you leave.
Jose
But Melanie here.
Melanie
Hi, Scott. I miss you.
Jose
Are you outside of someone's house? Where are you?
Scott
What? I.
Melanie
What do you mean, where am I? I'm home.
Brooke
Girl. Why are you being so calm? I know they called the cops on you and the cops showed up. What is. What is going on?
Melanie
Listen, you know how Max is. He can be a little bit of a drama king. He can overreact. You live with him, you know.
Scott
No, no, Max is super chill. He's the chillest guy I know.
Melanie
The fact that he thought I followed you home, that's really funny. Funny?
Jeffrey
Why. Why would that be funny, Melanie?
Brooke
Were you in their backyard?
Melanie
Look, that was just a special friend misunderstanding. And if Max doesn't want to be in touch anymore, just have to be okay with it anymore.
Scott
Stop calling him a special friend. You kept saying that on our date and it's. It's weird. You're weird.
Melanie
Well, did you talk to him about me? Does he forgive me? Because I forgive him.
Jeffrey
Forgive for what?
Brooke
Did you.
Jeffrey
Wait, what would require forgiveness?
Melanie
Yeah, look, just because him and I a no go, it doesn't mean that you and I, Scott, don't have a path to the future.
Jeffrey
You really have a talent for skirting around what's actually happening.
Brooke
Did you just. Did you find Scott because of his roommate online?
Melanie
Scott, I can explain it all to you later. I'M not gonna do it here on the radio.
Brooke
Don't, Melanie.
Melanie
It will make you laugh, I promise. It's all very silly.
Scott
Melanie, we would like you to never contact us again. That's the bottom line. Don't ever call the radio. Call what? The news. Don't contact us again.
Jeffrey
Okay, I feel like now someone's being a little bit controlling in the relationship.
Brooke
Jeff, Jeff, this is not a time to be sarcastic.
Jeffrey
Sometimes when you want something done, it's helpful to do a compliment sandwich. So why don't you say one nice thing about Melanie and then tell her never to stalk you again?
Melanie
Go ahead.
Jeffrey
She would really like that.
Scott
Melanie. You know, like, I appreciated the compliment about my shiny hair, but, like, it's kind of creepy.
Brooke
Yeah, probably making hair dolls
Jose
yesterday.
Brooke
Melanie, you got to leave these men alone. They do not want to talk to you.
Jeffrey
They're sending you a very clear signal right now.
Melanie
Scott, if you change your mind, you know where to find me. And we can have a lot of fun together.
Alexis
Now I'm scared what her fun is to.
Scott
I will remember that. All right.
Jeffrey
I'm not even going to offer for another date. I feel like we got the information that we need. Needed. Hopefully, Scott, you got a little bit of closure out of this experience. And if you need more evidence, you can find the podcast up at Brooke and Jeffrey.
Brooke
Good plug, Jeff.
Jose
Good plug.
Scott
Yeah. Thanks,
Sal
Melody.
Jose
Usually the message when we hang up,
Brooke
Melody, don't call us for another date. Second date, either.
Ian
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Jake
Wow.
Jeffrey
If we had known what she was really trying to do there, then we never would have made that call.
Jose
Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah, I think that is an important thing to be said.
Sal
Yes.
Jeffrey
Yeah, we were misled.
Jose
Definitely.
Jeffrey
But it just occurred to me at the end of her first date when she said, why don't we go back to your place and have some fun? Now I know what fun means to her. I get it.
Brooke
It's still not fun to me. That's so weird.
Jeffrey
But to her. I want to confront your roommate for the restraining order he just filed against me. That's fun for her.
Alexis
Never would have guessed that that was
Jose
not on my list.
Brooke
Why do the ones that sound so normal
Jeffrey
just turn out to be the most fun?
Jose
Like, hey, I'm stalking you, but you got nothing to worry about.
Alexis
You're ruining the word fun for me.
Jeffrey
She did pull the old Trojan horse move, though. She's not going to break into the opponent apartment. She's gonna get invited in by the roommate with the promise of good times.
Jose
What a coincidence. You guys are roommates?
Alexis
Weird.
Brooke
I love how she was like. Well, how would I have known that he was his roommate?
Alexis
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Did I just lock the door behind us as we stepped in here? How did that happen?
Brooke
Anyway, okay, let's be safe everybody.
Jeffrey
I will say we blocked her phone and we blocked her email after. Afterwards, so we should not be hearing from her again. Okay, good.
Brooke
And I hope those guys move soon. Yeah, quickly.
Jeffrey
But we do need to hear from you. If you need help with your dating life, email the show. We'll call that person who's not calling.
Sal
Fun.
Jeffrey
It's gonna be so fun.
Brooke
Can we just say, if police are already involved, please don't contact us.
Jeffrey
Good disclaimer.
Ian
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Jeffrey
You know who deserves a raise on this show?
Alexis
Ashton.
Jeffrey
Yes.
Alexis
Oh, Ashley.
Brooke
Oh, yeah, her too.
Jeffrey
Before any of those people.
Brooke
Oh, Jake as well.
Jeffrey
Yeah, my therapist.
Brooke
Oh.
Jeffrey
Because I spent an entire two hour session crying, talking about how I couldn't stop my brain from changing the lyrics of a Harry Styles song to be about Olive Garden. Oh, it just was right there.
Brooke
An hour of work.
Jeffrey
Oh no, an hour of conversation.
Jose
Wow.
Brooke
Wow, sounds deep.
Jeffrey
It was.
Brooke
I'm sorry. I take it back, Ashton.
Jeffrey
Yeah, the therapist deserves it. Merino era in my eye.
Alexis
Brutal.
Jeffrey
You could see how much she had to suffer.
Brooke
I. Yes.
Jeffrey
And at the end I took a peek at her notes and all she'd written down were the words unlimited bread sticks and circled it twice.
Jose
Delicious.
Brooke
Was she hungry? Was that a prescription for you?
Jeffrey
I don't know.
Brooke
Yes.
Jeffrey
I'm wondering, does anybody else feel my pain? Cuz we've got the makings of another two hour therapy session with my brand new song of the week. It's coming up right up after this. It is time for my song of the week. All right, Jeff, it's Brook and blah blah in the morning and what's going on in the world right now? Yes, the Odyssey is number one at the box office in theaters. The World cup just finished. Baseball is back.
Jose
Yay.
Brooke
Let's go.
Jeffrey
The Love Island Season 8 is still coming to grips over the explosive casa. A more aftermath during movie nighted weeks ago. But no, the bombshell that Julie had dropped. That was ridiculous.
Sal
Wow.
Jose
I have no idea what.
Jeffrey
Thank you for faking it, Alexa. So pretty much business as usual for America in July. Yeah, except for one little hairball sized minion who is trending on every social media platform that's every ever been created.
Brooke
Go give him the respect that is earned.
Jeffrey
He deserves it. I'm of course talking about the short spined raccoon named Jimothy.
Jose
I feel like he's the only viral animal that's probably actually viral.
Brooke
Oh, yeah, that's literally. You got to get a rabie shot after you come across.
Jeffrey
If you haven't seen him in the news or on a mural by your bus stop. Seriously, just google him, cuz he is the latest greatest thing since Oscar. Oscar Meyer made their wieners 15% girthier.
Jose
Wow, that was a big day.
Brooke
It was a big moment for Jeff anyway.
Jeffrey
I'll never forget that.
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
But he has captured the hearts and the minds of bored citizens everywhere.
Brooke
That's right.
Jeffrey
Who are looking at their phones, saying things like, oh, look how cute he is trying to climb a stair.
Jose
Yeah. So cute.
Jeffrey
I don't care if he has rabies, I'll share my lunch with him. So audience autograph seekers have descended on the Seattle suburb where he roams in an attempt to get selfies. Some people are selling merch. It's actually gotten way out of control.
Brooke
Well, I mean, do we live in this country if there isn't a capitalistic take on this stuff?
Jake
Exactly.
Jeffrey
It's so nobody owns the legal right to it. Yeah, it has gotten so out of control that even I have written a song about it. Yes, yes. Celebrating the legend, life and the legend of this fuzzy little bowling ball. And that's why instead of singing Amy Winehouse's Valerie, it's young Jeffrey's Jimothy.
Sal
Let's go.
Jose
Great.
Jeffrey
All right. This is for you, little guy. I'll point when I'm ready. Point.
Sal
Well, his spine is the size of an elf as he scurries cross the dumpster Stuffing french fries in his cheeks until they're full But I swear he's not a hamster it looks like a dinner roll Buttered up with confidence Though it's. It takes him half an hour just to climb over a fence. A little midnight stoner on the hunt for some old KFC Come tip my trash can over Jim Trash Buffett old fish fillet. He's a pint sized alpha male Danny DeVito with a tail little backsuit soldier he's the smallest little blip in a game of Battleship he be the patroller lady Vermin everywhere come from miles so they can bear Jimmy's babies. Cause he's a lover, not a fight. But if you cross him, he may bite you and give you rabies
Scott
with
Sal
each new video Got the country more obsessed. It won't be long till he appears up on Hot wings as a guest he's taking the world over like a tiny raccoon. Mini Mae finally giving Short King's victory. Jimothy. Celebrity Jimothy. Yeah. The crowds gather round just to film as he squeezes through a gutter
Scott
he
Sal
passes out behind Seattle's record scores. Could he get any more grunger?
Jeffrey
If trash is by your home with
Sal
his aura you'll be blessed like a furby with more flair A little gray ball of success.
Jeffrey
Mu dang at best.
Sal
Move over. No other creature alive could take away from our little garbage Yoda. Jim. Short and sway. Oh, Jimothy. A little Hercules fell out of a train here to stay. If you're hungry, come tip my trash can over. Jim a fan? Yes.
Brooke
Oh my God. Can you imagine how viral your trash can would be? I mean, are people leaving food out for Jimothy at this point?
Sal
You should.
Jeffrey
Yeah, go drop a donut on the street corner for our local neighborhood fuzzball. But that's your song of the week.
Brooke
He is like Danny DeVito with a tail.
Sal
He is.
Jeffrey
He's our little hero and we love him. So you can go share this video we're going to post. Post it up on all of our socials at brookeandjeffrey, on YouTube, on TikTok, Instagram, all the places. Yes, and share it with a fellow Jimothy lover or with Jimothy himself. He deserves to hear this.
Brooke
I mean, maybe it's Brooke and Jimothy in the morning.
Jeffrey
I support it. Get the petition started.
Ian
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Jeffrey
I'm not exaggerating when I say this call has been literal years in the making. Our listener Ian is on the phone right now.
Brooke
Yes.
Jeffrey
Been a fan of the show forever. And apparently he's been trying to call in to this segment to play Brooke for years.
Alexis
Oh, did you tell him you don't
Brooke
like people with only three letters in their name?
Jeffrey
Is that why it's not the situation he hasn't been able to to get through. Ian, explain why what happened?
Scott
What's up, Jeffrey? Hey, guys.
Brooke
Ian, talk into your phone. What?
Scott
Oh, you're my. Too far away.
Jeffrey
No, you're. You're fine. I think you're okay. What. What's happened? Why I haven't been able to get in?
Scott
Well, let tell Bert to turn up her. Her hearing aid.
Brooke
Well played, Ian. Well played.
Jeffrey
Why haven't been able to reach us?
Scott
Well, because I guess I just don't know how. How to call because I kept on calling the wrong number and I kept on getting a timeshare guy.
Brooke
You Kept you. Kept calling the wrong number and getting it. Did you own a timeshare now?
Scott
Well, I did, yeah. I owned one for about four years, thanks to Brook and Jeffrey.
Jeffrey
Man, it's really hard to get on Brooke and Jeffrey. You got to buy a whole property.
Brooke
Sounds like shooting fish in a barrel, man.
Jeffrey
Well, you finally made it through. Ian. We're going to talk to you about a condo property we have in Hawaii. After we're done here, we can get
Jose
money out of him.
Jeffrey
But let's play the game first. You got 30 seconds to answer as many questions as possible. If you don't know when you could say pass. But you have to beat Brooke outright if you want to win. Are you ready?
Scott
Yes.
Jeffrey
All right, man, you've been waiting years for this. Let's do it. Your time starts now. Jennifer Lopez celebrates a birthday today. How many times has she been married?
Scott
Oh, three.
Jeffrey
In which decade did the first Indiana Jones movie debut? 70s, 80s, or 90s? What Latin phrase is used when an attorney is representing someone?
Brooke
One.
Jeffrey
For free.
Scott
Oh, pro se.
Jeffrey
Phil Knight is the famous founder of what athletic wear company?
Scott
Nike.
Jeffrey
Based on the way it faces. Does the Statue of Liberty see the sun set or the sun rise each day?
Scott
Sunrise.
Jeffrey
Larry Birds, an NBA hall of Fame basketball star who played for what team? For 13 seasons.
Brooke
Made it count.
Jake
Years to make it.
Jeffrey
That's right.
Brooke
Right.
Jeffrey
Worth the wait. Now Brooke is back in the studio and. Ian, what are you gonna be doing for fun this summer besides buying timeshares?
Scott
I'm getting ready to host a huge barbecue about 30, 40 people over.
Jose
Where's our invite?
Sal
Ian?
Scott
There you go. I got your number. Now you call me up. You guys are more than. You guys are more than welcome to come. It's next Saturday. It's August 1st. It's my birthday. You guys are all welcome to come.
Jeffrey
Nice. What's on the menu?
Sal
You.
Scott
I'm thinking carne asada.
Jose
Oh, my kind of guy.
Brooke
Okay.
Jose
Hey, Brooke makes a mean blue cheese cheeseburger that Jeffrey hates.
Jeffrey
Do you like some mold in your taco? Cuz she'll. She'll pop that in there for you.
Scott
I'm okay. I was. I expected her to bring her own veggie patty or something.
Sal
That's true.
Jose
She bring like a KE wobble or
Brooke
some weird oysters and a corn salad.
Scott
Oh, God.
Jose
Oyster.
Brooke
Serve it warm.
Jeffrey
Okay. Our stomachs can only take so much. Let's just get to the. The part where Brooke answers questions. Are you ready, Brooke?
Sal
Yeah.
Ian
Ready.
Jeffrey
Your time starts now. Jennifer Lopez celebrates a birthday today. How Many times has she been married?
Alexis
4.
Jeffrey
In which decade did the first Indiana Jones movie debut? 70s, 80s or 90s?
Brooke
80s.
Jeffrey
What Latin phrase is used when an attorney is representing someone for free promotion?
Brooke
Bono.
Jeffrey
Phil Knight is the famous founder of what athletic wear company?
Brooke
Nike.
Jeffrey
Based on the way it faces. Does the Statue of Liberty see the sun set or the sun rise each day?
Brooke
Sunrise.
Jeffrey
Larry Bird is an NBA hall of Fame basketball star who played for what team?
Brooke
For 13 seasons, Larry Bird played for the SuperSonics.
Jeffrey
Interesting call there. Let's go to the scoreboard. We're gonna see how you both did with our own Jose no Bowl Boy Melanios.
Jose
Ian, you got four correct today, man.
Scott
A solid. A solid.
Jose
It is a good score. You only got, like, two wrong, Brooke.
Brooke
Yep, five correct.
Ian
Oh, wait.
Brooke
Could you say it again? Because my hearing aids were down.
Scott
Could you?
Brooke
I'd like to hear it one more time.
Jose
Five.
Brooke
Did you hear that? You had five.
Jeffrey
I'm sorry, Brooke. Did you dirty on your first try?
Brooke
You were better friends with a timeshare guy than us, huh?
Scott
She gets an extra jello cup today.
Jeffrey
Let's go over the answers for everybody. Jennifer Lopez has a birthday today. She has been married four times. The first Indiana Jones movie debuted in the 1980s and 1981. The Latin phrase used when an attorney's representing someone for free is pro bono. Phil Knights, famous founder of Nike athletic wear, rare and based on the way it faces. Statue of Liberty sees the sun rise every day because she faces east towards the ocean. Finally, Larry Bird is an NBA hall of Fame basketball star who played for the Boston Celtics.
Brooke
Oh, yeah, that's right. I can picture him.
Jeffrey
Yeah, well, Ian, I'm sorry, man. It was not enough to beat Brooke. But just for playing, you do win a pair of tickets to see Ed Sheeran in concert at lumen field on August 1st.
Scott
What?
Sal
Are you kidding me?
Brooke
Cancel the barbecue.
Scott
Hey, we're all going to the barbecue with Animal. Go next year. Let's go.
Brooke
There you go.
Jeffrey
How does it feel to finally, after a whole decade, talk to us? I'm guessing my voice sounds younger. Brook sounds older, but what do you think?
Melanie
Okay.
Scott
I'm looking forward to doing it again and again and again. So they say, never meet your hero. So I'm glad I didn't.
Brooke
Oh, man.
Jake
Glad he didn't.
Jeffrey
And we have to have you back on.
Jose
Yeah, you're funny, bro.
Brooke
I mean, he'll obviously call again if he kept calling the time share guy again and again.
Jose
Only person have a timeshare. Tell him to stop calling.
Melanie
Yeah, man.
Jeffrey
Well, it's awesome having you on. Can't wait to have you back. We're going to do Winbrook's buck same time on Monday.
Ian
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
