It's a special day on this podcast because it's Awkward Tuesday. Yay. Yeah. But don't be fooled. It is the second date update podcast with Brooke and Jeffrey, and I'm just gonna say one of our listeners was about to empty out their entire savings account to make their big dream happen. It all started when they made one viral TikTok video. And anyway, it turned into a thing. And you're about to hear the thing in just a second. But let's go to comments. Yeah, Daniella said, I've been listening since I was 6 and I'm 22 now and I will never stop. Yeah, and I've always wanted to meet Jeff in the wild, but I don't think that'll happen considering he hates going in public.
George M. Johnson
I haven't even been on the show that long.
Alexis
Yeah, you could catch him at a rest stop or a grocery store. Those are usually his two hangouts. Yeah, that's about it. In the woods. Maybe I'll run into him somewhere else. Yeah, but randomly at dive bars. He really likes a dive bar that plays karaoke. Oh, karaoke for sure. Those are your hot spots to find. Good luck out there. Now that you're 22, you can go to all those places. All right, let's get your Awkward Tuesday phone call started.
Brooke
How do you tell someone that you love that their dreams are definitely not going to happen and you do not support them?
George M. Johnson
Oh, wow, that's hard.
Brooke
Brooke, didn't you put that in your wedding vows somewhere?
Beth
I did not.
Brooke
I could have sworn after your sister in law played the violin.
Alexis
No, no, she did play the violin, but I did not have that in my vows.
Brooke
Oh, interesting. Well, one of our listeners is having that very problem with her boyfriend.
George M. Johnson
Oh, maybe Brooke can help.
Alexis
Yeah, come on.
Brooke
He's about to empty out their entire savings account to make his big dream happen. And it all started when he made one viral TikTok video.
Alexis
Oh, now I'm interested.
Brooke
We're going to hear all about it and then try and convince the boyfriend to give up on his dreams in a brand new Awkward Tuesday phone call. Next, it's Awkward.
Beth
It's Tuesday.
Brooke
It's awkward Tuesday. Phone call. We've been doing our show for a while now.
Alexis
Yeah.
Brooke
And we have a lot of of people listening to us. And I think there's certain moments for each person in this room that really stand out as our most famous thing that we've done on the show. Oh, do I have one that's not boing well for you, bro? For like 30 years now, you can't think of one big moment?
Alexis
You know, it all kind of blends together after a while.
Brooke
Well, like, one that really stood out for me, that I remember was when I did a parody song about ikea, and IKEA headquarters in Sweden actually made all of their employees learn the song and sing it at a big company event.
Alexis
They did? Yeah.
Brooke
Did you not see that video that happened? It was crazy. All these Swedish people singing this American song.
Alexis
No wonder I don't remember our big moments. I missed that video.
Brooke
Now every time I go into ikea, all the workers give me side eye. Like, that's the guy that made us.
Daniella
A lot of moments.
Brooke
But apparently one of our listeners, Beth, has a semi famous boyfriend.
Alexis
Oh, has he been on this show we're all about semi famous?
Brooke
I don't think so. But she is having some issues with their new fame. Beth, how's it going?
Beth
It's going okay.
Alexis
I mean, I'm curious who this guy is, because sometimes fame and infamy can be mixed up, like, intertwined. Yeah, he's not famous for like, a mugshot or anything, right?
Beth
No, it's not a mug shot, but yeah. My boyfriend Josh went viral like six months ago on Talk. Yeah. So basically it's got like 5 million views. Like, this one video went crazy, and it's him throwing up yogurt in the air and then catching it back in his mouth.
Alexis
Oh.
Brooke
That got 5 million views.
George M. Johnson
And you want to date this guy?
Alexis
Are you dating him before that happened or after?
Beth
No, we were dating before he went viral, but.
Brooke
Oh, okay. So you're not just in it for the fame. Clearly.
Alexis
You're like, grandma, wait till you see my boyfriend.
George M. Johnson
It's funny because I'm like, cringing, but then I'm also like, God, I bet he makes so much more money than I do now.
Brooke
I mean, it is kind of. It's skills to be able to catch all that yogurt in your mouth, I guess. Okay.
George M. Johnson
Just going viral in general, no matter what it's about, it always leads to more opportunities. You blow your page up. Now you.
Alexis
Bonnie wants to endorse You.
Brooke
Is that what's happening? Is he really famous now?
Beth
Well, I mean, the initial video was wild, and then he did a follow up, one that got, like, I don't know, a hundred thousand views. And he just. I think, like, he's more invested in it than, like, it's actually gonna be a thing.
Alexis
Okay. So he's trying to catch that fame.
George M. Johnson
Yeah. Ride the wave.
Beth
Yeah. Yeah. It's like. It was like, about a week after the videos came out, he started referring to himself in the third person as Daddy Gert.
Alexis
He's gotta be. He's joking, right? He's not being serious.
Beth
So, I mean, initially, I'm like, okay, he's just, like, playing it up. But this is like, he's trying to make himself this brand.
Alexis
Daddy Gurt.
Beth
Daddy Gurt. Yeah. He's, like, constantly using ridiculous phrases like go girt or go home.
Josh
And I pointed out I kind of like it, though.
Alexis
Yeah, but Go Gurt's a thing already.
Brooke
They're not that successful of a company, are they?
Beth
You know, I told him about that, but he got real flustered by it. And it's just at that point, I just really understood that he's taking the so seriously.
Alexis
Okay. Yeah. So are you calling for relationship advice? Because I have some thoughts.
George M. Johnson
I think all the girls are like, just break up with him.
Brooke
What made you reach out to us for help?
Beth
Yeah, so the video caught, like, a lot of views in Austria. And so the big thing now is he wants to go to Austria and do a live appearance and bring merch. So basically, the big problem is he wants to take $15,000 of our life savings and just, like, go for this empire he's trying to build.
Alexis
He wants to take 15 grand of your guys's joint money to do it?
Beth
Yes. Oh, my God.
Brooke
You don't believe in his. His Gert empire? You're not on board the Gert train.
Beth
No, I mean, I just. I really need to convince him, like, to not do that. And it's just I'm in a hard spot because, like, I don't want it to turn into a huge fight. It's definitely a bad idea. But, you know, I've just been listening to him, and he's, like, telling me all of these plans, and it's just, like, making me very worried.
Alexis
Have you voiced any of your concern to Daddy Gert?
Beth
I mean, I just. I call my best friend, and I've been to her, but with him, I haven't gone there because I just know it's not going to end well.
George M. Johnson
Well, I'm sure in his head he's thinking, oh, yeah, well, 15 grand up front, and then once I go there, we can make 30 grand off of all the appearances. But if he doesn't, if it's not a hit, then you're going to be out 15 grand is what I'm trying to say.
Alexis
Has anyone from Austria contacted him? Like, any agents or, I mean, serious, like, brands or something? Like, because maybe he's right. Maybe there's something over there for him.
Beth
I mean, he basically just tells me that he's contacted a bunch of different people and he's working on some things, but I just. I don't even know what that means.
George M. Johnson
Yeah, it could be anything.
Brooke
Sounds like you're about to be in a relationship with a famous yogurt man. Yeah.
Alexis
Oh, well, it worked out for John Stamos.
Brooke
What did he do?
Alexis
Oh, he was the yogurt mascot for a while. Or, like, the Chobani dude.
George M. Johnson
Yeah, I don't think yogurt marketing hits very well.
Alexis
I mean, no, he was already famous, so there's that. But.
Brooke
But. But she doesn't want that. Beth doesn't want Daddy Gert to, I.
Alexis
Think, realize fame more than anything. She doesn't want Daddy gert to take 15g from her bank account and lose it. Yeah.
Brooke
We're gonna talk about this a little bit off the air. We'll come back, give you a little bit of advice, and we'll let you call your boyfriend, Daddy Gert and try and convince him to not seize his 15 minutes of fame and just move on, go back to his normal, boring life.
George M. Johnson
Oh, boy.
Beth
Yeah, I just think that's gonna be for the best.
George M. Johnson
Who would have thought yogurt would have made anyone's life more exciting?
Brooke
All right, we're gonna do it with your awkward Tuesday phone call next. It's awkward.
Beth
It's Tuesday.
Brooke
It's awkward Tuesday phone call. Alexis, I want to ask you, theoretically, if you're dating a great guy, he's fun, he has a good job.
George M. Johnson
This already is unrealistic.
Brooke
He buys you all the gifts that you could possibly want, and then one time, he makes a video of him himself tossing yogurt in the air and catching it in his mouth and goes viral for it. Could you still support him and be with him after that, or is that the ultimate ditch?
Alexis
You know what's worse than that? Might be making his own T shirts. That's such an ick. Oh, you don't like them making up the T shirts? That's pretty bad for Me. Okay, that might do it over the video.
Brooke
It's not like he was trying to go viral with it. It just happened accidentally. And he's leaning in, like, I've decided that I'm pro Gert, which also should probably go on one of his T shirts or mugs or advisors. I am pro Gert.
George M. Johnson
But, like a probiotic yogurt.
Brooke
That's not what Beth wants.
Alexis
No.
Brooke
Wants her boyfriend, Daddy Gert, to have his Gert dreams die right here and now. And, Brooke, do you have some advice for what she should do?
Alexis
You know, this is hard for you because you haven't actually expressed your real feelings about this at all. Yeah, because it was fine before when it was his money. Now it's your money that he's also trying to invest in this. And that's when you need to say, listen, I've been saving your feelings, but we've crossed the line where I need to tell you how I really feel. Yeah, dude, it's her money. It's 15 grand.
Brooke
Are you comfortable with that, Beth, being honest with your boyfriend?
Beth
You know, I feel like we're at the crossroads where if I don't do it now, like, I'm going to get sucked into this yogurt thing for good.
Alexis
Yeah, you're going to be part of the G empire, and you don't want to be Jose.
Brooke
What do you think Beth should do?
George M. Johnson
Just tell him this. Do you really want to go to a place where there's openly rude people and dog poop everywhere?
Alexis
What?
George M. Johnson
Okay, I Googled bad facts about Austria, and those were two of many things why you wouldn't want to ever go to Austria.
Alexis
I've heard Austria is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. No.
Brooke
Beth, can you forward him a link to bad Austrian Facts dot com?
Beth
I'm going to collect my list of negatives, along with the whole spitting up yogurt.
Brooke
Okay.
George M. Johnson
Exactly.
Brooke
All right, we have some advice there. I'm not going to call it great advice. Well, it does, but it is hopefully helpful. We're going to dial Daddy Gert right now, your boyfriend, and let you have your conversation with him. You ready?
Beth
Yeah, but do you mind just calling him? Josh, please.
Brooke
Okay, fine. Beth, this is your awkward Tuesday phone call, so I guess we'll call him just Josh. We're going to call boring old Josh and let you make your awkward call. Here we go.
Josh
You got good. Who's this?
Beth
Hey, it's. It's me.
Josh
Hey, babe, what's up?
Beth
Hey. Nothing. I just wanted to know if you had A few minutes to chat.
Josh
Yeah. What's going on? I got a video to do, but.
Beth
Oh, okay. Another yogurt video?
Josh
Yeah, you know, making that moolah.
Beth
Yeah, I'm glad that you brought that up. Those videos make money now.
Josh
I mean, it's investment, so. Yeah, eventually. Eventually. Don't worry, baby.
Beth
Wow. I just. Before we get into this empire, I just kind of wanted to talk about the $15,000. I'm just. I'm not sure I'm quite comfortable spending that kind of money.
Josh
Yeah, but, babe, we've talked about this. This is how it works. You got to spend money to make money. Babe, I'm not just a artist. I'm also an entrepreneur. So if you want to get to Gertopia, you got to pay the toll. You feel me?
Beth
Okay. Okay, but that's the problem. I don't. I don't want to go there. No one wants to go to Gertopia, okay?
Josh
Just hear me out. I wouldn' do my job anymore, okay? You could quit your job. You can manage me. We'd have a lifetime supply of yogurt in the fridge from the highest bidder. There are so many.
Beth
Like, these are all really fun dreams to have, but, like, let's just be realistic for a minute here, okay?
Josh
Hold on. I think I am being realistic because this can be huge, and I'm. I know what I'm feeling.
Beth
I want. I want to support you. I do. I want you to follow your dreams, but it's just so much money, and I just don't think it's a good time.
Josh
Okay, look, it's. It's too late. So I already bought the plane tickets to Vienna, and.
Beth
No, you know you didn't.
Josh
Yeah, two months from now. Babe.
Beth
What? No, no, no, no. You did not spend our money without asking me.
Josh
No, I didn't use our money. I asked your parents if they'd invest, and your dad wrote me a check for five grand.
Beth
You what?
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Josh
Who is this? What is going on?
Brooke
Hey, man on the radio right now with Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Alexis
Excellent opportunity to promote your business. Well, this. At this point, we're in.
George M. Johnson
We're all invested.
Alexis
Oh, my God.
Josh
What is going on right now?
Brooke
Well, this is called an awkward Tuesday phone call. And Beth reached out to us because she wasn't sure how to have this conversation with you about not spending $15,000 on the trip to Austria because.
Josh
Are you serious right now?
Beth
Of course I'm serious. It's a lot of money to throw into Daddy. Gert Gertia.
Josh
No, no, no, no. Are you serious that you just got us hella promotion right now?
Brooke
You're liking this?
George M. Johnson
He's always thinking a bit.
Alexis
See this? I told you, Beth. You got to be straight with Daddy Gert.
Josh
I told you, Beth, you can manage this. And this is crazy. Thank you for this, by the way.
Brooke
Beth, you're better at managing his Gert life than you even realized you were.
Beth
I didn't mean for this to be a positive thing like this was supposed to be a wake up call for you.
Josh
I didn't want to tell you like this, but this is actually great because what's going to happen is I wanted to surprise you with the trip, and we're gonna go and we're gonna have so much fun, and Daddy Gert is gonna spoil you rotten.
Alexis
No, no, her dad is gonna spoil her rotten because he's the one paying for this. How did you convince her parents to give you $5,000?
Brooke
Seriously?
Josh
Because her parents know that I'm going to double that. Triple that. And for your information, I already got an appearance lined up with Austrian rollerblading company. They like the idea. Go.
Alexis
Oh, the same. Yeah, Same business plan as Gogur.
Brooke
Austrian rolly.
Alexis
Yeah.
Beth
Please don't encourage him. Guys, you're not helping right now.
Brooke
I. I don't see how we can. I mean, even your parents see the merit in Gertopia.
Alexis
You're being sarcastic. It is a terrible idea. I am sorry, Josh. This is a. It sounds like a fun trip. It sounds like you're not having to pay. Both positives. But this is not like your career. It's just one viral tik Tok video. Doesn't really mean that much with over.
Brooke
6 million views on it. That doesn't just happen for a one off thing. This is a business waiting to literally.
Alexis
Always happens for a one off thing.
Josh
I mean, she's got to buy into my dream because I have a dream. And that's what we do as spouses. We got to support our loved ones.
Alexis
You guys are spouses. You're married now.
Josh
I mean, in my. In my mind, I mean, this is all part of the grand master plan.
Brooke
Wow.
George M. Johnson
Get rich and you can afford it.
Brooke
I mean, yeah, you could be the future Mrs. Daddy Gert.
Alexis
Wow.
Brooke
Mama girl.
Alexis
Yeah. Mama Gert does not sound sexy. It's literally like, I didn't know that you could get worse than Daddy.
Beth
Curtain.
Alexis
You just did.
Beth
I might get a complete loss for words because I get it.
Brooke
This is a lot is happening here. We probably need some time for Process. Let's just focus on one thing. The trip that is already booked, it's happening already. Paid for by your parents.
Alexis
It'd be really fun to go to Austria.
Brooke
I agree. I think you just go there and you see what happens. Beth, what do you say?
Beth
I charge. I mean, it's already paid for, right? So, yeah, I'll go only with you this one time. Okay.
Josh
This is. Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
Beth
We're doing this. And you know what? And you're gonna. And you're gonna get me a puppy when we get back.
Alexis
A puppy?
George M. Johnson
We do know. There's lots of dogs there.
Alexis
There you go.
George M. Johnson
There's lots of poop.
Alexis
Wait, okay. Why do you need a puppy, Beth? You just want a puppy.
Brooke
She wants something in it for herself.
Josh
Oh, my God. I got a great idea, too. A dog yogurt. Oh, my God.
George M. Johnson
This is for dogs.
Josh
Yeah.
Alexis
Dogger. I had to get to it. Yeah, there it is. That a good business plan? I'm not even.
Brooke
And you can name your dog Squirt. I need my dog Bagel.
Alexis
Yeah, exactly. Nobody's called you for a bagel endorsement, have they?
Brooke
Just give it time.
Josh
Okay, guys, I got to do this video, so I got to go.
Brooke
Gotcha. We just want you to know we believe in you, Daddy Gert.
Alexis
Okay.
Brooke
Go realize your dreams.
Alexis
Dort may be a hit. Honestly.
George M. Johnson
Now Brook wants to invest.
Alexis
Seriously?
Beth
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Podcast Summary: Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update – "Awkward Tuesday: 15 Minutes of Gurt"
Introduction In the April 15, 2025 episode of Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update titled "Awkward Tuesday: 15 Minutes of Gurt," hosts Brooke and Jeffrey dive into a listener's tumultuous relationship crisis involving sudden viral fame and financial strain. This episode blends humor, heartfelt advice, and real-time conflict resolution, making it both entertaining and insightful for listeners navigating similar challenges.
Listener's Dilemma: Beth and Josh's Viral Journey The episode centers around Beth, a devoted listener, who reaches out with a pressing issue concerning her boyfriend, Josh. Josh gained sudden internet fame after a TikTok video of him skillfully catching yogurt mid-air went viral, amassing over five million views. Emboldened by his newfound popularity, Josh is now intent on leveraging his viral moment into a lucrative venture, seeking Beth's support to invest $15,000 of their combined savings into expanding his "Gert" empire.
Beth expresses her concerns about Josh's escalating ambitions, fearing that his obsession with fame is jeopardizing their financial stability and relationship. As Beth reveals, "He's about to empty out their entire savings account to make his big dream happen. And it all started when he made one viral TikTok video" (03:02).
Discussion and Advice: Navigating Perils of Viral Fame Brooke and Jeffrey, along with their co-hosts Alexis and George M. Johnson, dissect the situation, weighing the potential benefits and risks of Josh's aspirations. They reflect on Josh's transformation from a likable partner to someone fixated on capitalizing on his fleeting internet success. Notably, Brooke recalls a memorable moment from their show: "one that really stood out for me was when I did a parody song about IKEA, and IKEA headquarters in Sweden actually made all of their employees learn the song and sing it at a big company event" (05:25), illustrating the unpredictable nature of viral fame.
The hosts debate whether Josh's pursuit is a legitimate entrepreneurial endeavor or a reckless gamble. Alexis ponders, "Generate, has he been on this show we're all about semi-famous?" (05:58), highlighting the thin line between visibility and obsession.
The Awkward Tuesday Phone Call: Confronting Josh Deciding that Beth needs direct intervention, Brooke and Jeffrey orchestrate an "Awkward Tuesday" phone call segment, bringing Josh into the conversation live on air. The confrontation is both humorous and tense, as Josh initially denies misusing their savings. However, it quickly becomes apparent that he has indeed allocated $15,000 toward his ambitious plans, including booking a trip to Vienna for further promotions.
During the heated dialogue, Beth confronts Josh: "No, you know you didn't," (16:08) reflecting her disbelief and frustration. Josh defends his actions by claiming, "What you got to spend money to make money... I've got a dream," (15:03), emphasizing his entrepreneurial spirit.
Brooke and Alexis interject with sarcastic remarks, questioning Josh's logic and the feasibility of his plans. Alexis muses, "Go realize your dreams. Dort may be a hit. Honestly," (21:04), while George humorously downplays yogurt marketing: "I don't think yogurt marketing hits very well" (20:39).
Resolution: Beth's Tough Decision Ultimately, Beth decides to prioritize her financial security over Josh's entrepreneurial dreams. She agrees to accompany him to Austria solely to manage the situation, asserting, "I'll go only with you this one time" (19:53). This decision underscores the importance of setting boundaries and maintaining control over one's finances in relationships.
Josh, undeterred, remains enthusiastic about his plans, promising, "Daddy Gert is gonna spoil you rotten" (17:55), while Beth remains resolute, reflecting the complexities of balancing love and practicality.
Conclusion: Lessons Learned and Moving Forward The episode concludes with a blend of humor and reflection as Brooke and Jeffrey summarize the key takeaways from Beth and Josh's ordeal. They highlight the dangers of letting viral fame dictate financial decisions and the necessity of open communication in relationships. Brooke advises, "It is part of your reality now. Go realize your dreams," (21:02), encouraging listeners to support their partners while safeguarding their own well-being.
The show wraps up on a light note, teasing future episodes and reinforcing the show's mission to provide relatable and empowering relationship advice.
