Hope you're having a great day. We're here with a brand new episode for you. It's Brooke and Jeffrey, and you found the Second day official podcast. Thank you so much. We did officially get a check mark. I don't know if you know that. Jose. On Spotify.
Pete Davidson
On Spotify.
Brooke
Let's go. And that's one you can't buy. Yeah, sounds hard to get. Oh, wait, I. I paid for it for us guys. Oh, you did? You paid for something? I think that's cute. I would laugh if you said you paid for my coffee this morning. Wow. Okay.
Janie
I mean,
Pete Davidson
she could have stopped that. I paid and we all just could have laughed.
Janie
Today is moving on.
Brooke
Today's of course, your awkward Tuesday phone call. That's coming up at first comment. Yeah, Autumn, the Taylor Stan said. Alexis, you should read my comment. I have nothing interesting to say, but we can pretend. No. There we go. Wow.
Pete Davidson
So interesting.
Paul Verze
Yeah.
Brooke
That was crazy.
Pete Davidson
I never knew that.
Brooke
It made me rethink everything.
Pete Davidson
Yeah, that was a fun fact or a deep fact.
Brooke
I think both. My life changed forever, so that's the type of stuff you're gonna get listening to this podcast. So let's get the awkward Tuesday phone call started.
Jeff
The most texts and comments that we get into the show usually come from episodes that feature one of three people.
Brooke
Okay.
Jeff
Either unique characters with quirky nicknames.
Brooke
People love those.
Jeff
A lot of those overly dramatic people who belong on reality shows, that's where
Pete Davidson
they put them, too.
Jeff
And people so mean that they put our own Brook Fox to shame.
Pete Davidson
What? Over you out mean the meanie.
Brooke
That was rude.
Jeff
Hard to achieve, I know. But today's call might outdo them all. Because the woman that we reach out to today might be the most brutal, ruthless, vile person we've ever had on this show, you guys, we try to
Pete Davidson
be nice to everyone, but it was hard.
Jeff
Well, it might have been fun if it wasn't our listener's own sister.
Pete Davidson
Yeah, that's the other part.
Jeff
We still cannot believe what happened when he called to a apologize to her.
Pete Davidson
Oh, my God.
Jeff
You'll hear it in your brand new awkward Tuesday phone call right after this.
Pete Davidson
It's awkward.
Brooke
It's Tuesday.
Pete Davidson
It's awkward Tuesday phone call.
Jeff
We talk a lot about the big birthdays, the Sweet 16s, 21 runs, Dirty 30s, of course, and my grandma's Nasty 90. We did it in Reno at a place called Sugar's with a Z.
Brooke
Okay.
Pete Davidson
You know, she lives up to the title.
Jeff
Yeah, she went for it, but.
Brooke
Yeah, she did.
Pete Davidson
What about.
Jeff
Oh, lordy, lordy, they're turning 40.
Pete Davidson
Oh, boy.
Jeff
40 is a big milestone. And our listener Malcolm was apparently going to do a big one with family and friends until guess who ruined it,
Brooke
kids, your 90 year old. Did I say the wrong thing?
Jeff
His sister.
Brooke
Oh, that's not who I expected.
Pete Davidson
Did not see that coming.
Jeff
So he claims. Let's hear what happened. Hey, Malcolm. Welcome to the show, man. How you doing?
Malcolm
Hey. A little rough today.
Brooke
That's what happens in this decade.
Jeff
Well, tell us, how did your sister ruin your 40th birthday?
Malcolm
So it's my younger sister, and it's not that big of an age difference. Okay. It's four years, which is a lot when you're a kid, not very much when you're about to turn 40.
Pete Davidson
Okay, you're right.
Brooke
Are you yelling because you think we can't hear very well either?
Malcolm
You'll understand.
Jeff
Okay. What's your sister's name?
Malcolm
Her name's Janie.
Brooke
Janie. Okay. So wait, can we start with what the plans were like? What was your dream for your 40th birthday celebration?
Malcolm
So my parents had reserved a space downtown. We're gonna have a catered dinner. There's gonna be a lot of friends and family. There's gonna be music, dancing.
Brooke
That's nice.
Pete Davidson
Was this a surprise or did you know about this?
Malcolm
I knew that it was coming up. Okay, here's what happened. So, Janie's always been very much the look at me type. Everything, the whole world revolves around Janie.
Pete Davidson
Classic younger sibling. Yeah, that's what I am to my
Brooke
sister and the girl in the family.
Pete Davidson
Okay.
Brooke
Are you too close, would you say?
Malcolm
Yeah, I mean, we've always been close, but this is always a thing.
Jeff
What's always the thing?
Brooke
The look at me thing.
Pete Davidson
The attention.
Malcolm
Yeah. The world stopping when she gets the sniffles.
Pete Davidson
If she's upset. Everyone has to be upset.
Jeff
Well, she okay if she has the sniffles? I mean, I'm worried for her.
Malcolm
I know you're joking. You better be.
Jeff
Yeah.
Pete Davidson
You never know it, Jeff.
Jeff
No, I get it. So how does she get involved in your 40th birthday party?
Malcolm
The day before the party, I get a phone call, and it's my dad, and he tells me Janie's not doing so well.
Brooke
Oh.
Jeff
Oh, God.
Brooke
That's a bad setup.
Malcolm
She's sick.
Brooke
What happened?
Malcolm
Yeah, so of course I'm panicking. Was she in an accident?
Brooke
Yeah.
Malcolm
Is she dying? And he says to me, very seriously, she has a lawn care emergency.
Brooke
Lawn like a yard like grass?
Malcolm
Lawn like the grass lawn care emergency.
Brooke
What is it?
Pete Davidson
There's no emergency. It doesn't matter.
Brooke
You don't know. Maybe the lawn is on fire, her house is sinking.
Jeff
It does depend. What's the emergency?
Malcolm
Yeah, so she has this landscaper. He tells her, you have to let the grass breathe. And then he took away a bunch of the grass, and now it looks all patchy and, like, a little weird.
Jeff
That's the emergency.
Brooke
Where's the emergency?
Malcolm
This is the emergency. So now she's all stressed, and apparently it's a big deal. So my parents have to go all the way down there to be with her.
Jeff
Wait, the day before your 40th?
Malcolm
This is the day before.
Brooke
That's the hardest thing your sister's ever been through in life. Good for her.
Jeff
So what happens?
Malcolm
So I get a call from mom later. Apparently, Janie is the word inconsolable was used. Worried about what the neighborhood people think because it takes a lot of pride in the appearance of her home.
Brooke
Okay, okay.
Malcolm
So we have to postpone the 40th birthday party.
Pete Davidson
Wait, hold on. She's not going to be you. But the whole party is moved.
Malcolm
The whole party is moved.
Brooke
Your party.
Jeff
I mean. Yeah, I can. I can definitely see why you're so upset. So what are you looking to do with your call here today? Like, your party's been postponed.
Brooke
So it hasn't happened yet.
Malcolm
No. And what I was told was, apparently I've hurt Janie's feeling. You did. And now the only way to get it rescheduled is if I apologize to Janie.
Brooke
Stop.
Malcolm
Which that is impossible.
Brooke
How important is your family being at your party?
Jeff
I've been saying how. I've been saying how important is family for years on this show.
Brooke
That's crazy. I understand.
Pete Davidson
If it was any other birthday, but your 40th is one of the milestones. Like, you want to have the whole family together if possible.
Brooke
How are you feeling about this? Ask to apologize.
Malcolm
Not great.
Brooke
Yeah. Yeah.
Jeff
So who. Who are we calling here? Are we calling your sister? Are we calling your parents? Are we calling the Lawn Gu. What do you want?
Brooke
No, that's just a Yelp review.
Jeff
Yeah.
Malcolm
My sister, because. Okay, I did go off on my parents, because why should her Lawn wreck my 40th birthday?
Brooke
Yeah, and it sounds like maybe the parents told the sister about that conversation. Am I reading that right?
Malcolm
Yes. Why Would they do that?
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeff
Okay, so now we have to think of some good advice to give you because you're about to call your sister, and this is definitely a tough situation. You need to apologize to her for something you don't even feel bad about.
Brooke
Yeah.
Malcolm
Yeah. I didn't do anything wrong, but my parents are making me.
Brooke
Yeah. This is what 40s are like. Yeah, Just like every other decade. Yeah, it doesn't change much.
Jeff
We'll come up with some advice to help you make a call to your sister to apologize for her lawn being messed up and ruining your 40th birthday.
Brooke
So ridiculous.
Malcolm
It really is. Yeah.
Jeff
Well, we'll do it with your awkward Tuesday phone call right after this.
Pete Davidson
It's awkward.
Daniela Duran
It's Tuesday.
Pete Davidson
It's awkward Tuesday phone call.
Jeff
I never thought we'd be helping a selfish person, but here we are on the phone with a piece of scum named Malcolm.
Pete Davidson
Oh, man.
Brooke
I thought selfish was harsh, Jeff.
Jeff
Heartlessly, Malcolm has put his needs over his younger sisters. The issue is, she has hurt feelings because the day before his 40th birthday bash, she had a huge emergency where her landscaper messed up her front lawn.
Brooke
Wow. To even have a landscaper. Yeah, I'm glad she's complaining about that.
Jeff
I mean, we don't know, but I could just imagine how horrible it must have looked. And she was in no mood to put on a happy face and celebrate
Brooke
and do it, Jeff.
Malcolm
Wow.
Jeff
So Malcolm had some choice words about that, and ultimately their parents sided with the sister and announced they're postponing Malcolm's party until he apologizes to Janie.
Brooke
Yep, that's right.
Jeff
Obviously, Malcolm is the one at fault here, so.
Pete Davidson
Yeah.
Jeff
Before we give you our advice, Malcolm, what's your sister's normal temperament like? It might help us with our advice.
Malcolm
A little rough.
Brooke
A little rough.
Malcolm
Pretty spoiled.
Jeff
Okay, I'm not getting that.
Brooke
Yeah, interesting.
Malcolm
I am not the only one who seems to feel like the whole world revolves around her. She seems to feel that way, too.
Brooke
Yeah, she likes that.
Jeff
So how do you talk to her and apologize when you don't really feel like apologizing?
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeff
Brooke, what do you think?
Brooke
Well, just listening to you describe her, she sounds like one of those people. And we've all known one. I have. That is a victim. Always Right.
Jeff
Why are you looking at me?
Brooke
No. And you know what victims love? They love people to feel sorry for them. Okay, So I think you skip the apology and you just go straight in to how bad you feel for what she's going through.
Malcolm
This is going to be real hard to do, but I can try it.
Pete Davidson
Yeah, because you got to do that and not sound sarcastic, too.
Jeff
Doesn't sound like you love Brooks advice. Maybe Jose's will be better.
Pete Davidson
Whatever you say to your sister is going directly back to your parents.
Brooke
That's true.
Michael Rapaport
Right.
Pete Davidson
So my advice is this. Whatever you say, just make sure your mom and dad will be happy with it. And then restrain yourself. Like I said, no sarcasm. Just be a good brother here.
Brooke
And in what way?
Pete Davidson
As in bite your tongue and make her feel good so we can get your party started.
Jeff
I didn't catch the whole thing, but I heard restrain yourself. So handcuffs and tongue biting sounds with his sister? Yeah, that's what I got from it. Malcolm, is that. Was that your read?
Malcolm
Yeah, minus the handcuff.
Pete Davidson
Oh, wait a minute.
Jeff
Oh, okay. I don't know. I don't know if we actually have any good advice, but it shouldn't be. I mean, it's just saying sorry even if you don't mean it. Just get the words out. And that's the job.
Brooke
No one gave that advice, Jeff. That's just what you gave.
Jeff
Yeah, okay, I would argue that I count, too, but maybe I'm being a victim. So I'm just gonna. I'm gonna dial Janie's number, and we're gonna be on your side. Okay, bud?
Malcolm
Okay. Thanks, guys.
Jose
You got this.
Jeff
Here we go.
Malcolm
Hello? Hey, it's me.
Janie
What are you doing calling me?
Malcolm
Whoa. Nice to hear from you, too.
Janie
You know that mom and dad hate you, right?
Jose
Wow.
Malcolm
Okay, that's. That's a little dramatic.
Janie
Okay, well, they told me that you called me a whiner or lazy or something.
Malcolm
Whatever. Listen, I wanted to talk to you.
Janie
Whatever. I'm just saying my emergency was a real thing, okay? Because I don't think you understand the neighborhood that I live in. I mean, you live in a poorer neighborhood, so you wouldn't get it.
Malcolm
Wow.
Janie
You've never been in that situation, huh? You've never even had a yard, have you?
Malcolm
No. And I know you're very stressed, and I understand the lawn thing.
Janie
Well, you don't get it. You don't even have a lawnmower.
Malcolm
Why would I need a lawnmower?
Janie
You don't have as many friends as I do, okay? Because people lose friends over ugly lawns in this place. Don't act like you understand what I'm going through.
Malcolm
Okay? You're right. Listen, Janie, are you just trying to hurt my feelings? Because your feelings are hurt right now.
Janie
I'm just telling you Facts. Is anything that I've said not true?
Malcolm
I'm just saying this is a. It's a little bit humiliating.
Janie
You are humiliated. Oh, my gosh, again? Put yourself in my shoes. I was actually going to attend your birthday party.
Malcolm
Why would that be humiliating for you? I am your brother.
Janie
Okay, well, I was gonna bring a friend, and she was gonna have to meet your friends and just. Oh, my God. Yeah.
Paul Verze
Awkward.
Jeff
Oh, my God. Like I'm at my family reunion all over again.
Janie
Who are these? Where are these voices? Hold on a sec, Malcolm. What am I hearing?
Pete Davidson
More poor people.
Malcolm
Oh, no.
Brooke
Good point, Jose.
Jeff
Yeah, we're. We're a radio show, Janie. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Brooke
We are just. Yeah, I'm like, floor.
Janie
Malcolm, what are you telling these people about my personal life, huh?
Jeff
The way she said these people.
Malcolm
Janie, I needed help figuring out how to apologize to you because I didn't feel like I was in the wrong at all.
Brooke
No. Yeah, you weren't. You weren't. Okay?
Janie
Hey, he said he wants to apologize to me. So let's hear it then.
Brooke
Don't you dare apologize to her.
Janie
If you want a birthday, apologize to me, because guess who's on my side? Mom and dad both on my side.
Brooke
Are you 12?
Janie
Who wants her at the party?
Jeff
Malcolm. I mean, don't.
Brooke
Malcolm, you need to cut your family off.
Pete Davidson
It'll be funny. Let them apologize.
Jeff
I mean, Malcolm, it's your decision. What do you want to do?
Malcolm
I'm sorry. You had a long emergency and we had to postpone my 40th birthday because of it.
Janie
Why are you, like, reading off a card right now?
Brooke
What do you want?
Pete Davidson
More authentic?
Brooke
Yeah. Do you honestly think that your brother should feel bad that your lawn somehow is the worst thing that's ever happened in your life?
Janie
Okay, listen, lady, I don't know who you are or why you think you can call me, but is this just your job to just call people up to stalk them, try to get them? Try.
Malcolm
Try to.
Janie
Try to be a little bug in their ear, huh? What are you doing coming at me for? Yeah, this guy. You should know this guy. He can't even afford a yard.
Pete Davidson
Well, a lot of us can't.
Jeff
He does have a condo, though. Condos are respectable.
Brooke
How are you judging your brother based on how much money he makes? Like, build him up. Didn't you have a childhood together? Shouldn't you love each other?
Janie
Yeah. So, like, what happened to him? I've got hot friends
Jeff
and she has an hoa. Brooke?
Janie
Yeah, I'M so much better than him and probably you.
Brooke
Okay, okay. If this is what doing better looks like, I don't want it.
Janie
Okay, well, guess what? You couldn't have it if you did.
Jeff
As much as I'm enjoying this, and I really am, the apology has happened. Malcolm has said he is sorry for the terrible situation that you find yourself in. It's come back to affect him. The question is like, do you accept his apology?
Malcolm
You have to. Mom and dad won't let me have the party unless we come into agreement and you say yes. Come on.
Janie
I mean, you're 40. Listen to how you talk about your parents. Like, don't you think you're a little old to have them throwing the party for you?
Jose
Oh, man.
Jeff
Oh my God.
Pete Davidson
I can't wait.
Malcolm
You know what? Forget this.
Brooke
There we go. Malcolm. Okay, let's go.
Pete Davidson
Forget what party?
Malcolm
Well, not the party. I'm gonna throw my own party.
Brooke
Oh, okay.
Malcolm
He's not invited to it.
Jeff
Yeah, okay, so take that, Janie. He took your advice and now his parents aren't throwing him that party.
Janie
Who's gonna come?
Malcolm
Who's gon your party?
Janie
Boy, if mom and dad aren't there, there's going to be a lot of echoes in that room.
Pete Davidson
What an awful person.
Janie
I'm going to need Bubbles the clown to make you a balloon animal.
Brooke
Oh, hey, that'd be kind of cool.
Pete Davidson
Yeah, clowns are fun. Lady Awkward.
Brooke
Oh, man.
Jeff
I don't think we're going to help the situation at all. Apology was a bust. But at least you got a plan to celebrate with your own 40th. Malcolm.
Malcolm
Yeah?
Brooke
You should end the party with TP in your sister's house.
Pete Davidson
Oh, the HOA is gonna be real mad about that.
Brooke
Brooke.
Jeff
I don't want to be on their parents bad side, so I do not support it. Well.
Pete Davidson
Cause you're rich. Jeff.
Brooke
Jeff.
Janie
Brooke and Jeffrey.

In the morning, I'm Mangishitigular and I'm back with a new season of the podcast Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides, organoids, blood boys, blue zones and brain replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it really means to live forever for all of us. I learned about some rad science.

I can make a brain for you. And then we can test what drug is the best for your brain as opposed to his brain.

Mainstream media is full of cruel depictions of the unhoused, stories that shame and blame and paint the unhoused as a monolith. We the Unhoused is the podcast that's changing that. I'm Theo Henderson, creator and host, and for years I've created a space where the unhoused and their advocates can tell their own stories. In the last few months alone, I've interviewed unhoused parents, immigrants, mutual aid organizers, veterans, the LGBQTIA community, and the policymakers who make the laws that impact the unhoused existence. Whitian Houses, a two time Webby and Signal award winning show with many exciting guests on the horizon. Tune in this week for my interview with Dr. Jill Wicherik, a street doctor turned influencer whose work with the unhoused community has made a huge impact online and in her community. Texas 78592 says you guys didn't find out what the sister does for a living, but I bet she's a lawyer and I'm looking to sue my landlord. Can I get her number?
Pete Davidson
She should be, if she's not already.
Malcolm
She's like, ruthless.
Jeff
Oh, yeah.
Pete Davidson
She likes confrontation.
Brooke
I don't think she's a lawyer. I think she married into money.
Michael Rapaport
Nope.
Pete Davidson
We didn't even ask where she got all the money from.
Brooke
The only reason I say that is because there is a lot of insane insecurity with that woman.
Pete Davidson
And entitlement.
Brooke
Yeah, if you're strong enough to forge your own career. I don't think that's. You got a deep look.
Jeff
I just know why Malkin's parents sided with her.
Brooke
Oh, they're just scared.
Jeff
Yeah, they don't want to be on her bedside, obviously.
Pete Davidson
Revoke the country club membership.
Jeff
I was scared of her too. But, you know, even though we didn't do a great job of helping Malcolm in that situation. No, we can do a much better job helping you. As long as it's not with a crazy sibling.
Brooke
Oh, actually, I mean, I'd take on another crazy sibling.
Malcolm
You would?
Paul Verze
Sure.
Brooke
Let's do it, Jazz.
Malcolm
Okay.
Jeff
There's nothing that we won't tackle.
Pete Davidson
Crazy Sibling Week.
Brooke
Oh, yeah, sure.

Episode Date: July 7, 2026
Hosts: Brooke, Jeffrey, Jose, Pete Davidson
Special Guests: Malcolm (listener), Janie (Malcolm's sister)
This episode’s main theme is sibling rivalry and family drama taken to the extreme, as the team helps listener Malcolm navigate an absurd family conflict. On the eve of his milestone 40th birthday party, Malcolm’s plans are derailed due to his younger sister Janie’s minor “lawn emergency”—causing the party to be postponed unless he apologizes to her. The hosts facilitate an “Awkward Tuesday Phone Call” for Malcolm to confront his sister and (hopefully) secure his family birthday bash, serving their trademark blend of humor and empathy in the process.
This “Awkward Tuesday” episode delivers on the promise of high entertainment and relatable family strife. The show explores the limits of apologizing to difficult family members for peacekeeping (or, in this case, securing a birthday party), and the hosts’ mix of counseling and comedic roasting keeps the drama engaging. Malcolm standing up for himself provides a cathartic ending; the suggestion of “Crazy Sibling Week” hints that more delicious drama may be on the way.
