Everyone needs to take care of their mental health, even running back Bijon Robinson. When I'm on the field and feeling the pressure, I usually just take a deep breath. All right, here it is, your brand new Awkward Tuesday podcast, today on the second day podcast. We love when listeners leave us messages. That's why we like to read them on air. Yes. And do we say on air in podcasting? Sorry, no.
Jeffrey
And we say comments on recording.
Brooke
What are we doing? I don't know. Yeah, but go ahead and read them in the microphone. Yeah, I'm gonna say Sinabo said, I can't believe last Ramadan, I started listening to y' all every day because I couldn't listen to music. Oh, cool. I really thought I would stop after Ramad, but I didn't. I ended up being Yalls top listener. And it's been a whole year now. I've listened to y' all every single day nonstop. I'm actually gagged realizing it's really been a year.
Jeffrey
You know, this is like people that cut out sugar or alcohol and they just go, look, I'm gonna do it for two weeks. And then they end up for the long run for the better.
Brooke
You're.
Jeffrey
You're here with.
Brooke
I like that you compare us to a good thing. Yeah, that's good. That's good.
Nancy Glass
I love it.
Brooke
I love it. Thank you so much for being here. However you found us. Your brand new episode starts right now.
Jeffrey
Imagine on the most romantic day of the year. You have two people reach out to you, both asking if they can be your valentine. Oh, my gosh.
Brooke
Are you in a dream, Jeff, do you need to wake up?
Jeffrey
Let's both together. It's not about me. It's about one of our listeners. What do you do? Cause I could tell you with full certainty you should not do what this listener did. Uh. Oh. Cause it's landed him here asking for help with an awkward Tuesday phone call. You're gonna hear all about the fateful decision he made coming up next.
Brock
It's awkward.
Brooke
It's Tuesday.
Jeffrey
It's awkward. Tuesday phone call. What percentage do you think dating experts say that getting back together with an ex is a good idea?
Brooke
Oh.
Jeffrey
I mean, only times I've heard of it, they literally got married.
Brooke
Good idea. Or fun idea. Good, because it's fun.
Nancy Glass
Yeah.
Brooke
Is it good or.
Jeffrey
Well, but maybe they've grown, Brooke. Maybe the problems that caused your breakup are all resolved now.
Brock
Ah.
Jeffrey
And maybe the statute of limitations on that restraining order finally expired and you're free. Yay.
Brooke
That's not.
Jeffrey
That's not a good romantic drive by your house again. So what's the expert's final number on the chances it will work out with your ex? Less than 5%.
Brooke
So you're saying there's a chance it's above zero. That's actually better than I expected.
Jeffrey
I know two different couples that broke up and then years later got back and they're married.
Brooke
Just wait for the divorce.
Jeffrey
But nobody knows those percentage numbers more than our listener, Brock, who has reached out to our show needing some help. Brock, welcome to your life.
Brock
Man, I really wish I would have heard those specs a couple weeks ago. I would have. I would have made a couple different decisions.
Jeffrey
Oh, yeah, you should just be always googling the divorce rate, like, just periodically.
Brooke
It sounds like you're in deep regret right now.
Brock
That's a bullseye right there.
Jeffrey
Oh. 50 points to Brooke. Good job.
Brooke
But we can work from that.
Brock
Yeah.
Jeffrey
What happened? Why do you say that?
Brock
So I was seeing this new girl for a month, Chloe. Super casual new relationship. Things are going great. We really hit it off and really connect. And on Valentine's Day, she reaches out and she asked me if I want to be her valentine.
Jeffrey
Oh, wow, you got asked. That's great.
Brock
I got asked. And I'm like, yeah, that's what every guy wants. You know, Like, I feel special. I said, yes, I'll be your valentine.
Brooke
Okay.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Brooke
Does that mean she's gonna plan a date? That's awesome.
Brock
I mean, I didn't know what it really meant. I'm like, hey, I'm with you, and you're with me. So cool.
Brooke
Okay. Okay. It's almost like a cute way to ask to be exclusive. I guess.
Jeffrey
I mean, it could Valentine's.
Brooke
I thought I was just hanging out that day. Yeah. Things are good, though.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brooke
You're flattered. People are happy.
Jeffrey
Sure. So what happened next?
Brock
Well, my ex, she texted me the same day. And it was a long one. Yeah, it was basically her saying how much she missed me, how she felt bad about our relationship ending the way it did. She laughing for somebody else. She wished that she could take it all back.
Brooke
Of course she does on Valentine's Day when she suddenly sing Single Again.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brooke
Okay.
Jeffrey
He left her. Okay.
Brock
And she also told me she Wanted to see me for Valentine's Day, and.
Jeffrey
But you've already said yes to Chloe.
Brooke
You're already someone's Valentine.
Brock
Yeah, I know, but I also still had feelings for her, and we didn't break up that long ago. It was only a couple months ago.
Brooke
Yeah, I get it.
Jeffrey
Okay, that does change it a little. I can see that.
Brooke
We've been there.
Jeffrey
So what did you do?
Brock
I. I mean, I said yes. I'd be her Valentine's, too.
Jeffrey
Oh, wait, two. Did you say the word two? Like you're gonna try to do a double valentine?
Brooke
I don't know. He hasn't thought this out too far.
Jeffrey
Hold on. I like where this is going. So what happens on Valentine's Day?
Brock
Oh, I mean, first off, I hung out with Chloe, and then it was great and fun. And then I hung out with my ex.
Jeffrey
Oh, wow. I didn't think it was gonna work out like that. That's wonderful. Two women were made happy that day, Brooke. That should bring a smile to your face.
Brooke
Dude, you hung out with them on the same day?
Nancy Glass
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Yeah, on the day of the year.
Brooke
Like a late day, late celebration with one of them.
Brock
I mean, what can I do? I was two people's Valentine's, and I had to be there.
Jeffrey
Well, yeah. Yeah.
Brooke
And it sounds like you probably didn't feel guilty about doing it to your ex, because she sounds like she was maybe overlapping at the end of your relationship.
Jeffrey
So what's happened since then?
Brock
So I spent more time with my ex, and we kind of. We picked things up where they left off, and it was good for a while. But a couple days ago, she dumped me again for another guy.
Brooke
Oh.
Brock
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Oh. Same thing that happened the first time.
Brooke
I mean, that's like, first time, shame on you. Second time, maybe. Shame on me?
Jeffrey
I don't know. That's right. I think I've always heard, blame the ex.
Brock
I agree with you on that one, 100%. Blame the end.
Jeffrey
Yeah. Yeah.
Brooke
I mean, it's not cool of her. I would agree with that.
Jeffrey
All right, so you've reached out for an awkward Tuesday. What made you do that? What are you hoping to get out of this?
Brock
So I need you guys to call Chloe for me.
Brooke
Oh, Chloe.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Brooke
Rebound, double time.
Brock
I wouldn't say that. I mean, this is more like I was robbed of an opportunity to build something genuine with Chloe because of my ex. Chloe doesn't know about any of this that's happened, and I need this to be smooth.
Jeffrey
You want to tell her?
Brock
I don't.
Brooke
What did you Tell Chloe. Like, I mean, did you stop seeing her while you got back together with your ex?
Brock
I mean, I've been more distant, and I haven't hung out with her as much.
Brooke
Okay, so you were seeing both of them?
Nancy Glass
Yeah.
Brooke
She's probably clocked on by now.
Jeffrey
Yeah, well, we don't know. Is there any hint that she's aware of you going back to your ex girlfriend?
Brock
No. Nothing.
Brooke
Does that feel like cheating? I mean, if Chloe were to have been seeing another guy, would you consider that cheating on you?
Brock
I mean, if I didn't know, then, no.
Jeffrey
Nice. I like that. If I'm not aware of it, then it's not cheating.
Brooke
That's not how it works.
Jeffrey
It is.
Brock
If I don't know, there's nothing for me to be upset about.
Jeffrey
Right. I like that train of thought, Brock. Okay, so now you messy. You want to reach out to the girl that you kind of ditched to see if you can start things up again with her. And you don't want to tell her about the whole situation with your ex?
Brock
Yeah, I mean, this is only a couple weeks ago. Like, this isn't a long time ago. So I just need some advice on kind of how to bridge the gap and pick it back up.
Brooke
Okay, so you've kind of ghosted her for a couple weeks.
Anna Sinfield
Well.
Jeffrey
Okay, well, some girls like head games.
Brooke
Said no one ever female, I don't think.
Jeffrey
Well, we're going to have to play them when we come back. Give our advice to Brock and let him make his awkward Tuesday phone call. Trying to reignite things with Chloe. Oh, thanks. Coming up right after this. Hold on.
Brock
It's awkward.
Brooke
It's Tuesday.
Brock
It's awkward Tuesday phone call.
Jeffrey
Who wouldn't want to jump into the dating pool after this? Because our listener, Brock, if you're just joining us, was put in a tough position a few weeks ago when two women asked if they could be his Valentine on Cupid's big day.
Brooke
He couldn't say no.
Jeffrey
Well, first was a girl named Chloe that he'd been casually seeing for a month. And he said yes to her.
Brooke
And he really liked her. Yeah, really excited about it.
Jeffrey
But then he got a message from his ex. Yikes. Also asking to see him. Yeah, and Brock said yes to her, too, because there's still feelings there. And really, he's been spending most of his time with his ex until a few days ago when she dropped him again in the same way as before, leaving him for a different guy. Very leavable. So he feels like he made the wrong choice and now wants to reach back out to the first girl, Chloe, to reignite that spark. Without mentioning, oh, yeah, by the way, I left you for my ex. So how does he pull that off? Brooke, you're up.
Brooke
Well, I think that last part is totally wrong. I've been in this position before, and I think this is what you have to do, is you have to come clean and you have to say, listen, that experience really taught me something. And it's that I'm so over her and I just want to be with you.
Brock
Oh, that's mature.
Jeffrey
Brock, are you still awake after that?
Brock
I mean, yes and no.
Brooke
Did you come out looking like the hero?
Brock
Brock, it is super risky to do that, though.
Jeffrey
That's making yourself very vulnerable.
Brooke
But you're honest. She wins. I mean, I don't see a downside to this.
Jeffrey
I'm sure she's not going to be offended when she finds out the real reason that he did it.
Brooke
But hanging out for a month?
Jeffrey
Totally. I'm with you there, Brooke. A little bit of risk. Now you have that piece of advice, Brock. Jose, what do you think? Well, there's a famous Seinfeld episode where Kramer gets fired and then he just keeps showing up to work.
Brooke
Oh, yeah, right.
Jeffrey
Nobody notices. Yeah, yeah. So you gotta do the same thing. Act like nothing happened and you guys are still doing good.
Brooke
Isn't that what we just talked about, our show called Ghost Lighting?
Jeffrey
Oh, yeah, Ghost Lighting.
Brooke
It's where you ghosted someone and then you pretend like you didn't.
Jeffrey
It is the hot, cool new thing to do right now in the dating world. So I like Jose's advice. Very topical. He's already ghosted her and he just seems to do the gaslighting.
Brooke
Very topical or very toxic? You can choose Mature toxic here.
Nancy Glass
Your choice.
Brooke
The two options.
Brock
I don't think it's toxic. I think it's, again, like, if she doesn't know, then nothing bad happened, right?
Brooke
If you haven't talked to her in weeks, she knows something. She's not a moron.
Jeffrey
But she won't know. If he's just feeling the good vibe, she'll just ride that train with him.
Brock
Yeah, I mean, who's to say something bad happened?
Jeffrey
That's right.
Brock
Maybe I was in an accident. Maybe my dog died. She doesn't know.
Nancy Glass
Perfect.
Jeffrey
Well, you're going a little far, but go ahead.
Brooke
Ghost lighter.
Jeffrey
I think I think you got the spirit of it. We are running a little bit short on time, so I'm gonna dial Chloe for you and we can step away and let you make your call. You feel ready?
Brock
As I'm ever gonna get. Let's do it.
Jeffrey
All right. Good luck. We'll be here waiting to jump in if you need us. Here we go.
Brock
Hello? Hey, Chloe, what's up? Hello? Who is this? Hey, it's me. It's Brock. What's up? Oh. What number is this? Oh, I mean, I. I had to get a new phone because I dropped the other one and I accidentally kicked it into the lake, and so it's just a new one. And this has been a whole new drop. And, yeah, it was. I mean, I'm not the smoothest guy sometimes, but I got it replaced, and I had your number written down, and it's been this whole process. Complicated. How are the cats? How's husband and Jerry? So what are you feeling for? I don't know. I was just thinking, like, we haven't hung out in a hot minute, and, like, we go get some steak or something. What? I mean, maybe, like, you're down for seafood or, like, chicken or, like. I mean, whatever. I'm not picky. What about you and your ex?
Jeffrey
Oh.
Brock
Oh, no. Okay. What. What are you. What are you talking about? Okay, I swear, I saw a photo of you and your ex the day after Valentine's Day on your Instagram. What was that about? Hmm? What was. What was what about? Why were you posting photos of you and your ex? Whoa. Actually, funny story here. So you remember when you texted me to be your Valentine? Yeah. Well, okay, same day. It's funny. My ex also texted me with some crybaby sob story about how she missed me and she wished that we could spend, you know, Valentine's together. Okay. And, I mean, you know, stupid me, right? Dumb idiot. Hello? Brock, I fell for it. And I. I ended up spending that night with her.
Brooke
Oh.
Brock
Oh, but you saw me earlier that night. Look, it's like I was under her spell. You can't blame me for that, right? Like, this. It wasn't my fault. What exactly is this? Like, what do you want from me now? Okay, basically, she reeled me in and she dumped me for a second time. Oh, you don't say.
Jeffrey
No.
Brock
Yeah. Yeah, and, like, I just. I just realized, like, the error of her ways. Like, I. I just think we should continue where we left off. Oh, my God. Oh, you were so such an idiot.
Brooke
Everything that could have been said wrong was.
Brock
Brock, who are these people? What's going on? I needed some help.
Jeffrey
Brock, I. I think you need to be quiet for a second and let
Brooke
us step in here for a Couple years, maybe.
Brock
Because.
Jeffrey
Hey, Chloe, you're on a radio show right now. It's called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Brooke
Wow.
Brock
Okay. Do I, like, win something for going out with a Sleuther or.
Jeffrey
That's a little harsh.
Brooke
I mean, can't we just stick with idiot? That's, like, a fun thing to call.
Brock
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Look, the reason that we're calling you is this is something called an awkward Tuesday phone call. Brock reached out because he feels terrible about how things played out, the decisions that were made. He just wishes that he could go back in, erase the past two weeks of his life.
Brooke
He's very regretful for hooking back up with his ex.
Brock
You guys should have done this. Like, you are way better at this than I am.
Brooke
Well, Brooke, you included way too many details. Like especially the one where why your ex dumped you again. Well, I like that. It's not my fault.
Jeffrey
To be fair, you did say come completely clean. Brooke, as your advice.
Brooke
You didn't take ownership of anything, Brock.
Jeffrey
That's a good point, Brock.
Brock
I mean, it's not my fault. Like, she played me. What was that supposed to do?
Jeffrey
Well, the ownership is you made the decision to get back with her. And I'm sure that Chloe feels absolutely horrible about that. Right, Chloe? Yeah.
Brock
I don't. I have no sympathy for him. Literally zero.
Jeffrey
Oh, wow.
Brock
I mean, you should, though, because you were robbed of this experience, too.
Brooke
Oh, they're both victims.
Jeffrey
Yes. You were both duped by your devious ex girlfriend trying to get in the middle of you two and break you two up. You can't let her get away with that.
Brooke
That's spin.
Brock
Can I go now?
Brooke
What?
Brock
I mean, no.
Jeffrey
We can.
Brock
We can definitely go out. Like. Like I said, steak or chicken or seafood or whatever.
Jeffrey
You've given all the menu options.
Brooke
We know, Brock.
Brock
That's great.
Brooke
Chloe, were you ever excited about Brock? Like, before the ex, I mean?
Brock
Yeah, we were in the, like, having fun stage.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brock
Yeah, we had fun together. I mean, I can forget everything if. You can.
Nancy Glass
Of course.
Jeffrey
So big of.
Brooke
So big of that.
Jeffrey
That's quite an offer. Chloe, what do you think? Are you fully moved on from Brock, or is there any part of you that wants to just give him, like, one more chance? Just meet up with him like his ex did? She wanted him back.
Brock
Are you seriously asking me that?
Brooke
No.
Brock
Thank you.
Brooke
Okay.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Brooke
I think this has been very clear from the very beginning.
Jeffrey
It's sounding like you're not buying what Brock is putting down.
Brock
Chloe, you're okay with missing out on all of this because of her.
Jeffrey
What the.
Brooke
Why do I imagine him pointing to his own body?
Jeffrey
You're going to miss out on so much. All the steak and the chicken and the seafood.
Brock
Don't forget the seafood. Oh, man.
Jeffrey
No one else can offer that. All the cuisines.
Brock
I said no. And I couldn't be any clearer.
Brooke
Yeah.
Brock
Goodbye, Brock.
Jeffrey
All right.
Brooke
Those are very, very clear boundaries. Yes.
Jeffrey
How you doing, man?
Brock
I. Awkward. I guess.
Jeffrey
I understand. I am awkward. Very. I am so sorry about Brooke's advice. If you had gotten something else, you
Brooke
would have been able to pull that by. Advice? I didn't tell him to go into details about how he hung out with both of them on the same night.
Brock
I took the higher road for the first time and that obviously didn't work out.
Brooke
I think you tried to gaslight at the beginning, but she caught on.
Jeffrey
Well, remember, we learned experts say there's less than a 5% chance that getting back with Chloe would be a good idea.
Brock
I mean, this point in time, I'm gonna take my odds with my ex.
Brooke
You don't have that option on the table, Brock.
Jeffrey
She takes you back again.
Brock
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Hello. I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of the podcast Smart Talks with IBM. I recently sat down with IBM's chairman and CEO, Arvind Krishna, and I asked him, how can companies use AI to its fullest potential to create smarter business?
Brock
My one advice to them, pick areas you can scale. Don't pick the shiny little toys on the side. For example, if anybody has more than 10% of what they had for customer
Jeffrey
service 10 years ago, they're already five years behind.
Brock
If anybody is not using AI to make their developers who write software 30% more productive today with the goal of being 70% more productive. Yeah. Wow. So we are not asking our clients to be the first experiment on it. We say you can leverage what we did. We are happy to bring out all our learnings, including what needs to change in the process. Because the biggest change is not technology. It's getting people to accept that there's a different way to do things.
Jeffrey
To listen to the full conversation, visit IBM.com smarttalks. It's always a good move to threaten to get back with your ex to make somebody jealous. Brooke, you still use that trick with your husband to this day, right?
Brooke
I would laugh if he said that to me. That would be so ridiculous.
Jeffrey
Well, my ex never had any issues taking out the trash, so maybe I'll go talk to him.
Brooke
Yeah. First side of the hell. Healthy relationship, Jeff.
Jeffrey
Yeah, unfortunately, she already knew that he was kind of back with his ex, so it was kind of doomed from the start of that call.
Brooke
I feel like Chloe could be like some sort of research model of how to handle a guy like this. She did so well.
Jeffrey
Total indifference and sarcasm played well. But you know what's a sign of an extremely healthy relationship? Subscribing to our podcast.
Brock
Oh, yeah.
Brooke
Listening to other people's downfalls together.
Jeffrey
Exactly. You'll feel way better about whatever's going on between you and your significant other. So make sure you hit that subscribe button. And if you're not listening online, go find us at Brooke and Jeffrey.

This episode of Brooke and Jeffrey’s “Second Date Update” features an “Awkward Tuesday Phone Call” titled “CTRL ALT EX.” The theme revolves around listener Brock, who attempts to reconnect with Chloe, a woman he recently ghosted to rekindle things with his ex. Now dumped (again) by his ex, Brock seeks advice from the hosts on how to salvage things with Chloe without disclosing the messy details. The hosts debate honesty versus smooth denial, leading to a hilariously uncomfortable live-call attempt at reconciliation.
Brock’s attempt to bounce back to Chloe after a failed restart with his ex crumbles spectacularly on-air. The hosts vacillate between advocating honesty and “ghost lighting,” but once confronted, Brock blurts out the full story in the most unflattering way possible. Chloe, unfooled and unimpressed, delivers one of the most decisive reality checks in “Awkward Tuesday” history. The episode is a classic showcase of what not to do in modern dating—and how to keep your dignity intact when someone comes crawling back.
