Well, I have a really awkward situation and I. I really did want to do it on the radio, but I don't know what else to do.

Well, what's going on?

So not too long ago, I was at a company and I ended up having a fling with one of my younger co workers.

[Nicole]

Uh.

[Brooke]

Oh, but co workers is key. It wasn't like somebody. You weren't the boss.

[Dave]

Well, I was her boss.

[Brooke]

Oh, okay. That's an important detail. That's like a power dynamic you can't do. You can't.

[Jeffrey]

That's exactly what Brooke tried to do with me when I first started working here on the show as a promotions kid.

[Brooke]

I never tried to hook up with you. And I still. Still? Yeah, she just did have zero interest. Remember?

[Jeffrey]

HR told me everything. I know.

[Dave]

HR told you you were taking advantage of my Brooks.

[Jeffrey]

So anyway, that's an awkward situation for you to be in, Dave. You're with one of your subordinates, but.

[Brooke]

You did it to yourself.

[Dave]

Yeah, and unlike Brooke, she liked me.

[Brooke]

Okay, okay, listen, buddy, just because she likes you, you still can't do it. You're the boss. Yeah, I know.

So. Yes. So we were keeping the DL, keeping everything on the down low, because like you guys are saying, we could both get in trouble.

But then we got to the point where we wanted to bring it out into the public, let everybody know and stop sneaking around.

[Brooke]

Okay.

[Dave]

I felt that way. She felt that way. Wait, so you were both on the.

[Jeffrey]

Yes. Oh, yeah.

[Jeffrey]

[Brooke]

Okay, well, that's good.

[Dave]

Yeah, but we felt like if we did that, our co workers would be really weirded out by it. Especially if they find out how long it was going on before we told them.

[Brooke]

You don't gotta honest about all the details, man.

[Dave]

So we were talking, she gave me this idea. It's like if we didn't work together, we wouldn't have a problem.

[Brooke]

Oh, okay. I mean, that's true.

[Dave]

So I thought, yeah, she's right. And I thought, okay, what I'm gonna do is I have more job experience. I could get a job more easily than she could. So I put in my notice and I quit. You should have just fired her.

[Brooke]

You guys he should have gotten another job before you put in your notice.

[Jeffrey]

Everybody knows anybody.

[Dave]

I was able to get another job o less money, but I did get.

[Brooke]

Another job for love. So it was worth it, is what you're saying.

[Dave]

Well, so this is the part where it might not have been worth it, because ever since I quit, the relationship's gone kind of cold. I mean, it was really hot and heavy for the first month, but now it seems like she's distancing herself from me.

[Brooke]

Wait, how long were you dating before you quit your job?

[Dave]

A month.

[Brooke]

That's gotta be together.

[Dave]

You have to know that.

[Jeffrey]

Yeah, well, could it be that forbidden fruit thing where it's like, since you're doing it and sneaking around, it's kind of fun and exciting, but now that it's out in the open, it's lost its luster?

[Dave]

I have no idea. Because she won't respond to my text, she won't respond to my calls. No explanation. And meanwhile, I'm over here like, what the hell? I went and quit my job for you, and now I'm out in the cold.

[Brooke]

I hate to say it, but it sounds kind of like she broke up with you. Yeah, it's gonna be a couple months. I feel like that's the point where, you know if you're into someone or not. And she probably feels bad. It's not like she wanted you to quit your job.

[Dave]

Yeah, but the thing was, she was all for it when I said I was going to do it.

[Brooke]

I know, but, like, that's a lot of pressure on her for you to bring it up if she wasn't fairly sure on the relationship, you know?

[Dave]

Well, that was, to quote Adam Sandler, that's information I needed to know yesterday.

[Brooke]

Okay, maybe it's a quarter Adam Sandler. I not.

[Jeffrey]

You're just looking for an explanation.

[Dave]

I just want to know what's going on. That's it.

[Jeffrey]

That's fair. And it says in your email here that you're only 46 years older than her, so hopefully that's. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding, you guys. It's not like that. It's not like he thinks they hooked up.

[Dave]

No, no, I don't have dementia. No, I know what's going on.

[Brooke]

Now I'm worried. Is there a huge age gap between you two?

[Dave]

12 years. She's 12 years younger than us.

[Jeffrey]

Gonna be a lot worse. It is cr. Crazy that she agreed to, like, tell him, hey, go quit your job and we can be together. And then a month later, she's out.

[Brooke]

Crazy that after a month, he's like, I'm gonna quit my job for you. Like, what is she supposed to say? I would feel backed into a corner.

[Jeffrey]

We weren't there, Brooke. I don't know. If she reacted like that, that would.

Just be my reaction. I just.

I would be like, let's come back. We're gonna let Dave call his ex?

Well, we don't know for sure.

They say when you know, you know. But the weird part is, a month after he quit, she suddenly ghosted completely with no response, no explanation for where she's gone. I mean, closure's always hard to come by. Dave, I really think that no matter what you do to get someone to open up, you need to go in with compliments. You need to say how you felt about her and what a great time you had together. Hey there, doll face. Not that. Not that. Okay, I'm kidding.

And then maybe just say, you know, I was hoping for more time with you. Is there something I can do to make things better?

Well, funny you should ask. That's why I'm calling, to see how we're doing. Because you haven't answered my calls, you haven't answered my texts, and I literally quit my job so we could be together. So I just. I just want to know what's going on.

Yeah, I know. And thank you so much for doing that, by the way. That was really sweet, and I promise I'll never forget that.

Well, I mean, I did it because you were just a fantastic person, and I think we were fantastic together. I've never. I've never been with somebody as beautiful and smart as you are.

Okay, well, I didn't know how to tell you this, but after you quit, they came to me and they offered me a promotion, and it's to your job.

I mean, I make a lot more money now and.

Yeah, I'm sure you would, because I know how much I made and I know how much you made.

I mean, so it was a bit hard for me to say no, and you weren't there, so I.

Of course I wasn't there. We agreed that I quit. Awkward.
