I'm Emi Olea, host of the podcast Crumbs. For years I had to rely on other people to tell me my story. And what I heard wasn't good. You really. Last night it felt like I lived most of my life in a blackout. I was trapped in addiction. I had to grab the lamp and smashed it against the walls. And then I decided I wanted to tell my own story. Welcome. My name is Paola Pedrosa, a medium and the host of the Ghost Therapy podcast where it's not just about connecting with deceased loved ones, it's about learning through them and their new perspective. I think God sent me this gift so I can show it to the world. And most of all, I help people every single day. Listen to the Ghost Therapy podcast on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, you made it to the podcast. Welcome. And we tried a thing in December. Yeah, we did right what we do, Alexis. We started putting awkward Tuesdays on a Sunday. Totally makes sense of the Internet.
Brooke
It's not awkward for that day.
Healthcare Advocate
And we asked you, do you like it? Do you want us to keep doing it? Overwhelmingly, people commented on our Spotify page that yes, please keep doing them. Definitely keep it up. I could binge this all day. And one person even said that this is pretty mid. I love a pretty mid comment.
Brooke
Hey, Jeff is commenting.
Healthcare Advocate
I'm glad. So listen, you're stuck with your awkward Tuesdays on Sunday. Yeah. And if you want to hear a full hour of our show, we do a brand new show every day, Monday through Friday. Just go to the Brooke and Jeffrey main feed. But for now, let's make things a little weird and get awkward.
Jeff
It's awkward.
Healthcare Advocate
It's Tuesday.
Jeff
It's awkward Tuesday. Phone call. I don't know how my co hosts were regarding their emotions as children, but for me, I was always a big crier.
Brooke
Yeah, well, I think all of us.
Jeff
In the room are crying.
Brooke
Well, maybe not Alexis.
Healthcare Advocate
I don't know who is not shocked by that information. I see Jeffrey throwing tantrums at a grocery store.
Jeff
When there was a dessert that I couldn't have or a TV show I couldn't watch, I would let the emotions take over and launch into the ugliest, loudest cry I could. Especially if my housekeeper Lucy wouldn't change the channel for me.
Brooke
Oh, yeah, that's.
Healthcare Advocate
This is what we expected. Did you have a remote, Jeff?
Jeff
Yeah, well, she had the remote. And I was always a really big people's court fan watching blue collar families get the shaft. Okay, so funny.
Healthcare Advocate
Nothing like small claims court to bring a private school child.
Jeff
But luckily, my parents taught me how to bottle up those emotions. Deep, deep inside, I grew out of that. Now, unfortunately for one of our listeners, they didn't have parents like mine, so they reacted emotionally as an adult.
Healthcare Advocate
Oh, well, that's. Emotions are good now.
Jeff
They're in hot water because of it. So Allison has reached out for help. Allison, welcome to the show.
Brooke
Hey.
Political Commentator
Hi.
Healthcare Advocate
Oh, Allison, you sound like a real live wire. What could have happened?
Political Commentator
I made my work life really weird, and I hope you guys can help me fix it.
Jeff
Oh, I hope you're a blue collar worker. So this. This could be really funny.
Healthcare Advocate
Jeff.
Jeff
What?
Political Commentator
No, I'm not. I'm in software sales, and I had great year. Wonderful year. Like, oh, that's good.
Healthcare Advocate
That's great. How did you ruin it?
Political Commentator
So I emailed my boss and I was just asking for a couple extra days pto.
Healthcare Advocate
Okay.
Political Commentator
I mean, just two days, really. I just wanted to take a trip.
Healthcare Advocate
Is that usually met in your environment with, like, cool or.
Political Commentator
It's like you have to work really hard and it. Like, a lot of clients are really needy. So, like, sometimes it's hard, but it's worth it. And, you know, they do have this culture of vacation is necessary kind of thing. But he responded back and he denied me.
Healthcare Advocate
Oh, God, that's the worst feeling.
Political Commentator
And I'm like, I just want two days. And, like, does this company know how much money I make for them? Like, it's astronomical.
Jeff
By the way, that's what Brooke tells to our boss. All the time, too, so I can feel that emotion.
Political Commentator
Yeah, I just worked, like, so many hours, so many weekends, and I don't complain, and they just, like, wouldn't give me two measly days.
Brooke
That sucks.
Healthcare Advocate
Yeah, I mean, that's just kind of how sometimes corporate America is.
Brooke
Companies don't care about the software. What.
Jeff
How do you respond to that?
Political Commentator
I was so pissed. Like, I really just want to go on this trip and I give everything for this company. So, like, I'm like, forget it. I'm done with this. So I just typed up a letter.
Jeff
You what?
Healthcare Advocate
You wrote a letter?
Political Commentator
Oh, very harshly worded and I was insulting and I printed it out and I just slipped it under my boss's door on Friday.
Healthcare Advocate
Wasn't even an email. Was it like a resignation letter or was it just an angry letter?
Political Commentator
Yeah, it was like, you don't give me time off, so, like, I'm done with this. Like, I was really pissed.
Healthcare Advocate
So you were quitting? You quit? Okay.
Brooke
Yeah. Quit your job, you know, go out in blazes. You're not happy.
Jeff
Well, I mean, okay, I. I understand your sentiment, but you got to be careful with your emotions in a professional setting.
Healthcare Advocate
Not only that, you don't want to burn bridges. Like, you have to have references when you try to get a job later.
Brooke
Hey, if you're out of technology, burn every bridge, though. You're right.
Jeff
You want to stay. Cross the bridge to the other side.
Political Commentator
And then you can burn it. Okay.
Brooke
Okay. I'm not allowed with matches, so I didn't know how this works.
Jeff
Yeah, so it sounds like we're. We're too late for that.
Political Commentator
Yeah. Well, okay, so the weekend happens. And then I went back and I read my email and I realized that I didn't actually fully read it because he didn't outright deny me. And, like, he basically said it. Yeah, he said no for this week, but let's work together and see if we can get you off some. Get you some more time off next week afterwards.
Healthcare Advocate
Okay, so he's giving you.
Jeff
So you stopped after? No. And you went into a full on rage?
Political Commentator
Yeah, yeah, I really went in. A full on rage.
Healthcare Advocate
Okay, so have you broken into his office and taken the letter back before he.
Political Commentator
I went back and I tried to see if I could get it, like, before he saw it. And I, like, his door was locked and I'm desperate at this point. I cannot lose my job. So, like, I busted down his door.
Jeff
What?
Political Commentator
I busted his door down. And like, what?
Healthcare Advocate
How are you laughing?
Jeff
Oh, my God.
Brooke
You broke the lock.
Political Commentator
It's a pretty weak door. I mean, the door's fault. I had it coming, but the letter was not there.
Healthcare Advocate
I was gonn say it's worth it if you get the letter, but.
Jeff
Yeah.
Political Commentator
Oh, man. I was, like, praying that the janitorial staff, like, saw it on the floor, just threw it away, but I guess I maybe could have come in over the weekend and saw it, but I guess, like, I'm 50. 50 on what happened.
Healthcare Advocate
Oh, you think that maybe he still didn't get it?
Political Commentator
I don't know. I just need to figure out if he knows and if I need to actually do a ton of damage control.
Brooke
Yeah. Because the cleaner could have came and just, oh, there's a paper on the ground and throwing it away or something. Who knows?
Political Commentator
Yeah.
Jeff
So you're.
Political Commentator
Hopefully.
Jeff
You want us to call your boss then, and try and figure out how much information he has, if he got the letter or not?
Political Commentator
I need to know what I need to do, I guess, because, I mean, I don't. I don't want to lose my job.
Jeff
Okay. You sound really nervous, right?
Healthcare Advocate
And desperate. I mean, like, how can you not lose your job over this?
Political Commentator
This is like.
Healthcare Advocate
He might not have seen it.
Political Commentator
He might not. I just. I wanted two days off. I just wanted two days off.
Jeff
Well, you might get 200 days off if you actually saw the letter, but we're gonna. And we're going to give you some advice on what to say to your boss to figure out if he saw the letter and if he did what to say to save your job.
Brooke
Oh, man, this is a tough one.
Jeff
Oh, I thought this was gonna be easy. We'll see how it goes with your awkward Tuesday phone call right after this. It's awkward.
Healthcare Advocate
It's Tuesday.
Jeff
It's awkward Tuesday phone call. Emotions can be a good thing and a bad thing.
Brooke
Yeah. It's true.
Jeff
Good, because they can help you do stuff like fall in love.
Healthcare Advocate
Yeah.
Jeff
Cheer on your favorite sports team. Yeah. Bad because they can make you overreact to an email and quit your job with an angry letter to your boss. Yeah.
Brooke
It's about controlling the emotions.
Jeff
Yes. Or just burying them deep, deep, deep.
Brooke
That's what you do.
Healthcare Advocate
Or just reading the full work email, for God's sake. Like, that's all she had to have done.
Jeff
That's why Allison turned to us for help. Because she just quit her job in an emotional letter that she slipped underneath her boss's door.
Brooke
Yeah. Kind of a middle finger.
Jeff
Doesn't know if he's seen it yet or not. Funny side note, she did break into his office to retrieve the letter, but it was not there. Yeah, that's kind of funny.
Brooke
No, breaking and entering is not funny, Jeff.
Jeff
Well, she works there, so it's okay. But we need to help her out with some advice. That's what Awkward Tuesday is all about. So, Brooke, you're up. What do you think Allison should do?
Healthcare Advocate
Okay, first, I'm just gonna assume the worst here, Alison, because, I mean, if he hasn't seen it, then you're not going to need any of our advice. We'll just hang up on him. Right. So here's the thing. You need to pin it on somebody else. Right.
Political Commentator
Go on.
Healthcare Advocate
And that someone else is Chat GPT. You are going to tell your boss that you quickly wrote a chat GPT letter to him. Maybe you were even thanking him. Just printed it out thoughtlessly, slipped in under his door, got back to your computer and actually read what Chat GPT had written.
Jeff
Elaborate.
Healthcare Advocate
Yeah, you're horrified. That wasn't you. You. That was AI.
Jeff
So she should lie to her boss.
Healthcare Advocate
Yeah. You should always lie to your boss, Jeff. Especially now, Allison.
Jeff
Is that something you're comfortable doing?
Political Commentator
I mean, to keep my job? Maybe, I guess. What? How am I gonna lie? Being just like, blame it on Chat GPT.
Healthcare Advocate
Yeah. You can't blame it on another employee because then you're taking that employee down.
Political Commentator
Oh, yeah. Okay.
Brooke
To my advice, which is blame it on an employee.
Healthcare Advocate
Blame it on somebody else and get them fired.
Brooke
Yeah. Oh, man. Like, if it was here office, I'd be like, oh, Brooke is playing a prank on me, boss. She typed that up and she put I would never quit like that. That's so unprofessional.
Jeff
Okay.
Brooke
That way he's like, oh, that makes more sense.
Healthcare Advocate
Would throw me under the bus.
Brooke
When I quit, everyone's going.
Jeff
But it's not just throwing them under the bus in a playful way. Say it was a joke from an employee.
Brooke
Yeah. Oh, maybe say, oh, and I'm gonna get him back. So don't you worry, boss. More pranks are happening.
Healthcare Advocate
Yeah, because bosses love pranks.
Brooke
Okay, maybe don't say that.
Political Commentator
Yeah, that was rough. I can't blame an employee.
Jeff
Well, you can blame somebody else. You got two pieces of advice here. You're either going to blame technology for letting you down or an employee for setting you up.
Political Commentator
Really good options.
Jeff
Or somebody else. Pick anybody from your life. Blame your mom. I certainly do. And it's worked out great for me.
Political Commentator
I know.
Healthcare Advocate
We hear about it all the time.
Political Commentator
Yeah.
Jeff
So we're running out of time, Alison. It's really up to you. This is your phone call. We're going to step away and let you call your boss, see how much he knows. If he saw your resignation.
Brooke
I keep forgetting. He may not have even seen it. This is short. And we'll never air this.
Jeff
That's what we're hoping for, but let's find out. I'm dialing his number right now. Good luck. Okay.
Political Commentator
Okay. Okay. All right.
Jeff
Yeah, we're here. We got your back.
Healthcare Advocate
She's not gonna be okay. Stop telling her that.
Jeff
Here you go.
Patrick
Hello?
Political Commentator
Patrick?
Patrick
Yeah? Nancy's calling.
Political Commentator
Hey. Hey, this is Allison. I'm really sorry to bother you.
Patrick
Oh, yeah, hi. Strange that you're calling me.
Political Commentator
Oh, I mean, well, yeah. I mean, I texted you, like, saying that I was going to be late to work because I had something come up, and I just want to let you know that I'll be in shortly.
Patrick
What? Wait, what? Why?
Political Commentator
Why? Why what? Like, why am I. Why am I coming in late? Or why am I coming in at all? Or.
Patrick
Yeah, yeah. Actually, since I have you here, do you know anything about this broken lock on the door to my office?
Political Commentator
What? Your lock. Your lock was broken?
Patrick
Yeah, I came in and the door handle was all scratched and everything. It looks like it was tampered with. Do you know anything about that?
Jeff
No.
Political Commentator
I mean, no. I mean, like, with all the money we made, we should totally be able to get you a better door. Yeah, that's terrible. Was anything missing?
Patrick
I don't know.
Political Commentator
Okay. Wow. Would this, like, maybe, like, have been, like, the janitorial people? Like, maybe they have this one really big guy. Maybe he, like, leaned in on the door and broke it.
Patrick
I don't know. I don't know of any big janitorial guy. Look. Okay, Allison, why are you calling?
Political Commentator
So my request about a couple days off. You. You said you wanted to work with me on it.
Patrick
Yeah, yeah, I did, but we don't have to do that now because we got your letter.
Political Commentator
Oh, you saw that.
Patrick
Okay, yeah, I saw that. We all saw that. It was pretty harsh. And, you know, based on what you're saying, obviously you reacted without reading the whole thing, so.
Political Commentator
Yeah, well, okay. All right, Patrick, I have a very good reason for this whole thing. And. But hang on. Before I tell you, I want you to know that I respect you so much. I would never hurt you intentionally. But I, I would pull a joke on you. I, I. It's a brook. It's a brook. And. Jeffrey. Phone tap. Yay.
Healthcare Advocate
Wait, What?
Brooke
A phone tap.
Healthcare Advocate
Okay, gotcha. Yep. We phone tapped him.
Jeff
Oh, yeah.
Brooke
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Healthcare Advocate
The whole show's here.
Brooke
Oh, James said I am a phone top character. I am also here.
Healthcare Advocate
Hey, so funny that we're so funny.
Jeff
Patrick, you've just been pranked on the radio.
Brooke
That's how you phone tap a silly person.
Political Commentator
Oh, you're on the radio right now. Oh, my God, you're on it right now. Wow.
Healthcare Advocate
So all part of our new phone tap letters that we have people sneak under. I personally deliver that.
Jeff
Very elaborate.
Healthcare Advocate
Yeah, Alexis delivered it.
Patrick
Oh, my God. I thought you quit for real. I.
Jeff
Never do that, you sucker.
Patrick
All right.
Political Commentator
They are so funny. You know, they told me to write this letter and put it in your office and then call you and then. But they just took it like way too far.
Healthcare Advocate
I know. Sorry.
Patrick
Clearly.
Political Commentator
I don't know.
Patrick
But like, you guys got me good.
Healthcare Advocate
Oh, you liked it?
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeff
You thought it was funny.
Brooke
Patrick, I said smash all the windows and break the desk.
Jeff
It was elaborate. It was.
Brooke
Oh, man.
Patrick
Wait, so you were the one who broke the door?
Political Commentator
No, no, no, no, no. You know, no, I. I don't know.
Healthcare Advocate
That was just a funny, weird coincidence.
Political Commentator
This is super weird. Yeah. I don't know. There was somebody going around with like a hammer or something. I don't know.
Brooke
It's the. It's the big janitor with the hammer. That's got to be him.
Patrick
Oh.
Healthcare Advocate
Or somebody in it.
Jeff
So I don't.
Political Commentator
Wow. You know what?
Patrick
That was pretty funny. I'll. I'll give you credit there.
Jeff
Okay.
Patrick
Okay, well, I gotta run, but take care, everyone.
Political Commentator
It was first idea.
Jeff
Okay.
Healthcare Advocate
Okay.
Brooke
What the.
Jeff
Okay, he hung up. Wow.
Healthcare Advocate
Oh my God. That was actually genius. Why didn't we think of that advice so.
Political Commentator
Well, Jeff is the one that said to blame anybody, anybody, so I blame you. Thank you.
Jeff
I wasn't. I wasn't meaning us, but sure, I guess it worked out.
Healthcare Advocate
It's going to be a really strange story that he is going to be retelling. Man, I got pranked on the radio with this letter.
Brooke
Yeah, yeah.
Jeff
We really have to step up all of our pranks now that we are going to have this reputation out in the business world.
Brooke
We need to do more property damage.
Healthcare Advocate
We did try fax taps for a while.
Jeff
We need to bring that back.
Healthcare Advocate
I cannot believe that you have a job still.
Political Commentator
I can't either. Next time, can you help me get a raise?
Healthcare Advocate
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
