You found the second date podcast and we love that. Thank you so much. I'm so happy you're here. You know what? If you want us to invade more of your Life, we're on YouTube. Yeah, we are with Brooke and Jeffrey. Text in your address. I can. I can show up. Jose. Jose will come to your house and give you hugs and food, or you give me food. And also, there's 45 more minutes of this dumb content that apparently you like, which we're really grateful for. You can go over to the main feed for the full show, Brooke and Jeffrey. But right now, let's get into this relationship stuff. Yeah. Second date update. If you're a guy and you go out on a good date with a lady and then at the end of the night, you're too nervous or just forget to ask her about a second one. Oh, what's your next course of action there? You send her a simp text like, hey, I like you. Why is that? Simple. That's nice. Worded differently, but we should talk again. Sometimes. That boy. What? That's not simply super simp. No, it's not. That's lovely. Do you call her? You wanted to date a year ago and you're still like, yeah, beautiful. Thank you, Jose. Do you call her 15 times at her work and demand she pick up the phone because you two have unfinished business? Now we're talking. And this is a business. You have to answer the phone. Is that the real man in you talking right now? I mean, I personally, I would say both those options are cringe. Oh, thank God. But maybe not as cringe as what our listener Daley did. Oh, you're just already beating him up. And it could be contributing to why this girl has been avoiding him lately. So, Daley, before we get to what you did, you need to set the scene for us. Tell us how you met this woman and what her name is. Well, her name's Crudette. Crudette. That's cool. We met on a bicycle factory tour. What did you just say? Bicycle factory tour. It's a thing. And how do I sign up? There's one in my city. There's, like, a big bicycle factory, but it's, like, right next to a brewery. So you can, like, go have some Drinks. Go look at bikes drunk and then basically go back and have a drink. So you get to go do stuff, but observe how all the stuff you're doing was made. Yeah. The beer to the bikes. That's so fun. That's kind of cool. Beers and bikes just go so well together. There are a lot of bike and beer bars. Like, themes. There shouldn't be, because you shouldn't. Those probably aren't hobbies that go together very well, but it's fun. So helmet on. There you go. You were already taking a tour there and met her. Yeah. My friends and I, we kind of hit the brewery, and then we were doing the tour. And then in the group, though that of the tour, Crudette was with her mom. Oh. We all kind of just like, started joking around with each other. Like, joking with her mom, joking with her. We were like, became like, a group of friends. Bas. Oh, my God. I bet her mom is eating this up. Oh, yeah. Dude. If a guy ever hit on me with my mom present, my mom's like, I help. If my mom's ever on vacation is with a group of young guys around her, she immediately texts me. I thought Alexa's mom would swoop in on the guys. Apparently, she doesn't give me details. So at any point, are you able to just be alone with just Crudette? It gets to that. So, like, at the end of the tour, I didn't want to, like, stop hanging out, so I was like, hey, let's go back over to the brewery. You know what I mean? Yeah. And we were all there for probably, like, a half hour. And then her mom had, like, an appointment or something, and I didn't want to just, like, ask her in front of her mom and my friends. So, like, as they were leaving, it kind of, like, dawned on me, like, I have to do something right now. Yeah, you'll never see her again. Pop the tires on mom's car. Now she can't leave. Oh, wait, what? Well, I didn't do that. That's good. Good. What was your genius idea? So I actually just ran out to the parking lot, and I basically asked her mom if her daughter could stay. Cause I really liked her. Aw. It's like a kid asking for a playdate. That's cute. It's cute because it's still bold. Yeah, it is. I would not do that. Not in front of the parents. Yeah. Be respectful. Kind of old school. What did mom say? Her mom was cool with it. She was cool with it. So she came back inside. We were hanging out, and My friends kind of got the vibe that me and her were really hitting it off. So, like, one by one, they started to leave, too, as we continued to hang out. I like how they had to figure it out. Like, come on, you guys are my wingmen. You all should just leave. As a girl, you gotta stay for a little in case it goes bad. That's true. This is actually really adorable. Yeah. So this is super cute. What happened next? Or was that it? So, like, it was just us for the rest of the time. We had a kiss at the end of the night. Wow. We started this by saying that there was a big embarrassing moment. None of this sounds embarrassing to me. Oh, yeah, that's right. Oh, I'm getting to that. Because I got her number. So I called her. She didn't answer. And I should have never left a voicemail because I just started rambling. Oh, God, I think I love you. What? In the voice. How did that come out of your mouth? It just flipped. I don't know. Were you. Were you drunk from the brewery? No, this was, like, the next day. Oh, God. Love. Drunk from the brewery. How did you use it? Like, oh, man, I love you, you know? Yeah. Because sometimes I could just be more like. You're like, no, I said it like, I had such a great time. We just have so much in common. I think I love you. And then, wow, I didn't even go on the date and that. Like, it's hard for me. She liked you and had a great time. That's intimidating for anyone to hear. I would have called back immediately and left another voice because I'm terrible at this stuff and been like, I didn't mean that. Alexis. If a guy does this to you, says, I love you, is it over? You can't even call after a first date. That's weird. In the first day. That is so strange. And if you forgot to ask, you just text the next day. Yikes. He knows all this. I feel bad for him. She hasn't responded at all since that voicemail. No. And I'm. And I wanted to call again, but, like, I felt like I would just make it worse. So I've just been, like, waiting, and it just. The longer that goes on, she doesn't fall back. The worse I feel about it. Here's the question. When we get on the phone, do we even bring it up? Do you know what I mean? Is it better to just ignore it and pretend like it didn't happen? You know what? Some people never check their voicemails. I don't I always read the transcript. I don't listen. But maybe the transcript didn't say love. But I don't get the transcript every time. So she could have just literally never listened to it. Yeah, I don't listen. Let's hope. Yeah, we're all hoping for that. Maybe she never even knew this ever happened. We're going to find out when we call Crew Debt for you and try and get you your second date update. We'll lighten the blow coming up right after this second date update. Welcome back to your second date update. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning and we've been discussing off the air and on the air previously. Should we bring up the voicemail that our listener Daily left for Crew Debt after their first meetup? Yeah, because he dropped in I love you in the middle of the message. He didn't mean to. Or did he? I don't know. Daily, did you mean to? I don't think so. I don't know. It just kind of slipped out. Maybe I subconsciously meant it. I'm not sure. His heart started talking. That's our even sweeter response. But. I know. But I feel so bad for him. Brooke. It's only sweet if she feels the same way. It's creepy if not. I know. Nobody feels the same way after dying. So we're trying to figure out what the reason is and decided our best game plan is probably. Don't mention it. Yeah, unless. I mean, she'll bring it up if it's. We don't know what's happening. Okay, let's say that she does bring it up. Let's not make excuses for him. What do we do? Let's just lean in and tell her he means it. Daley only said that because you got drunk at the brewery and said it to him first, so it's kind of your fault. That's good. Manipulate people into thinking things happen, that they're called gaslighting. That's exactly what that is, Alexis. That's gaslighting her. Start doing this. Not super popular with women. I don't know if you guys know that. Can't say we're a fan. But if at the end of the day you fall in love, then it's worth it. Oh, yeah, right. Daily. Just a whole lifetime of gaslighting. I mean, there's. Better than nothing, I guess. No, that's the wrong response. Follow the light is what I say. Let's just hope it doesn't come up at all and it's something totally unrelated to the voicemail. Yeah. Maybe she hasn't even heard it. She was not that drunk at the brewery. She's gonna know, Jeff. Well, let's find out. I'm gonna dial her number right now. We'll see if she picks up. Here we go. Hello? Hey, is this Crudette? Yeah. Hey, we're a morning radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey. Welcome to the show. Hi. Did you know your name means tiny Italian sushi? Okay. Does it. I just say I crude? Oh, it was bugging me. So on the break, I was like, her name isn't crudeau. Crudette. So a crudeau Susie. So a crude. That would be a small piece of Italian sushi. Okay, that's cool. So that's cute. We're not just calling to tell you what your name means, though. We have. We do have another purpose. I'm a foodie. I got into it. Okay. Because one of our listeners reached out saying he's been trying to get a hold of you and has not been able to arrange a second meetup after you two hung out at a brewery together. Yeah, it sounded like such a fun night. Yeah, his name is Daley. Oh, wow. Okay. Wow. Sorry. That's what this is about. What's called a second date update. Oh, my God. Has your mom been bugging you to call him? My mom would be so invested if she was there. Yes. We just. We want to know less about your mom and more about you and how you. Jeffrey. Well, we'll get to your mom and her feelings later. We want to know what you thought about your hangout with Daley. I mean, the hangout was cool and, you know, like, we had a good time. Okay. Yeah. So he didn't lie about. He echoes those feelings. Yeah. What did you think when he came to the car and, like, you were in the car with your mom and he, like, chased you guys down to get you to stay? I mean, that was a little intense, but honestly, like, sweet. But it did get a little crazy. I don't know. The night did. No, the night was fine. But did he tell you guys about the voicemail? Oh, no. Voicemail. Jeff, no. You can't act like that. What's that? What about the voicemail is maybe a good question. Sorry, I don't know. What is voicemail? What is voicemail? Explain this to me. It's the thing where you call somebody and they don't answer and you leave them a message. Ew. Why would anybody do that? Exactly. Well, usually tell him something and, like, honestly, I was not expecting it, like, at all. You weren't expecting him to call you, or you weren't expecting to hear what he said? No, no, no. I figured he'd call me like we had a good time. Like, why would he call me? He actually told me he. He loved me for the voicemail. Oh, cute. Are you sure? Maybe. Maybe you misheard that. Maybe he said something else. Like, I glove you. Yes. Yes. Because there's gloves at the bike factory. I love food. Maybe that was it. I love food. Oh, that does sound good. Is that possible? I'm pretty sure he said, I love you. Yeah. Okay, how did you receive that? So it was super intense, but not for the reason you think. Like, I don't really know how to describe this, but the crazy thing is that I kind of feel the same way. What? How did I not expect that at all? You reciprocate those feelings. Shut up. Yeah, I mean, I know it's crazy. And, like, why are you calling him then? Look, the guy called me yesterday. Yesterday? That happened yesterday? Yeah. And I've been trying to figure out how to say it back. I mean, this is crazy. Oh, God. You know, 99% of the time, I would be totally creeped out. You know, like, you don't just tell somebody you love them after one hangout. This is so cute. Okay, we're forgetting that it hasn't been that long. Yeah, he's already following up. They're on the same page. That's all that matters. Okay. Oh, my God. Your mom is going to take credit for all of this. I honestly haven't told her any of this. Are we the first people that you're telling this to? I mean, I. You know, I do have a best friend that I tell everything to, but you are. Well, I know you think that you've only told a couple people that, but you've actually told a third person. And it's Daily, because he is on the other line right now listening to this conversation. Oh, my God. Are you serious? Oh, my God. I just got red in the face for you, Daily. Hi. Hi. So are you saying you feel strongly about me also? She didn't say feel strongly. Yeah, I know. This is insane. I know it is. But I. You know, you. Sometimes you just get a feeling, and honestly, like, I. I think I love you, too. Wow. She said that so fast. That is a lot. I know. Wow. Huh. What? Yeah. Daily, how does it feel to hear her say that to you? I don't know. It just. It kind of feels off. It feels just different from when I said it. Are you just. Is it, like, is it kind of freaky to you? You mean, like it's too much? What are you talking about? I don't know. It just. It just felt better when I said it, but then hearing it just. It hit my ear just differently than I thought it would. What? Maybe it's because she said it fast. She's not saying that she wants to get married to you. She's just trying to say what you said. I know, I know, I know. It's just. Just a lot for me to take in right now, honestly. You started it. Is it maybe because it was said on the radio? Is that why? Like, maybe the setting wasn't perfect for it or it feels to face for this a little forced. Yeah. Yeah, I didn't want to use that word, but, yeah, I guess on the radio it's kind of, like, different because again, I just built this moment up to something. Yeah. I think bigger than it ever could have been. No matter what she said. I mean, no matter what. You guys have an amazing connection. I think that's what you should concentrate on. Like, the L word is a lot like. Yeah. And maybe crude that. You just need to say it again one more times because now the shock has worn off. Now it'll really soak in and he'll feel good. I think I'm good on the L word for now. Are you sure? It might feel good this time. Yeah. It was a smart call. Yeah. Alexis is going to have to leave the room. Said too many times. She actually has an allergic reaction. All right, well, maybe you guys save it for when you see each other in person again. And we'd love to arrange that meeting. And we'll pay for it. I mean, I am as long as you are. Well, I'm not going out with you. It's going to be daily. Dude, you have to go out again. You guys are so cute. I'd be cool with it. I don't know, it just might be weird now that we said all this on the radio, but, like, we could totally hang out again. Sure. It doesn't feel as heartwarming anymore from Daily's part. Ignore that part. I need some love in my life right now. Okay, I guess I can understand, like, you kind of romanticize it in your head, build up what the moment is gonna be like, and then it's just a total letdown. And that's kind of what true love is. What? Huh? That was the darkest, Brooke. You're living it right now. The total letdown of true love. That's why you're so desperate for it. I'm not desperate for it. You literally said, I need this, like a heroin add. That's what the world. Shut up. Give me another bump of love. So we'd like to facilitate that again daily. You're up for it? Yeah. Oh, absolutely. Okay. Okay. That was really sweet. All right. Congratulations, you two. I love you both. Oh, thank you. It was not reciprocated. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. It's a classic story. Guy meets girl, guy likes girl. Guy leaves a voicemail for girl saying, I love you. Yes. Girl ruins it by saying it back to him. What? Then desperate married radio host gets disappointed cause she doesn't have enough love in her home life. Classic tale as old as time, but mostly for yourself. No, I think they were so cute. And I totally get why it would be overwhelming. All of it. All of it was way overwhelming. They're even overwhelmed at the feelings they're having. Totally. Imagine how awkward that next meetup in person is going to be. No, I guarantee you they're going to handshake. Yeah. Take it slow. It's so good. This is why I respect Alexis. Because she would never say I love you back. Not even to her husband of 20 years. No, no. You got to keep waiting. That's the way you win the dating world. Maybe I'll text to luv you. Like I'm real emotionally unavailable. That's right. During the vows. It's like I heart handy. Yeah, yeah. She actually just does the symbol with her hands always. That's really healthy, Jeff. Play it close to the chest, ladies. We better get an update from them. I really, really hope so. We'll find out if they email us back. Podcast Summary: Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update – "Brews and Bikes"
Episode Information
In this engaging episode of Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update, hosts Brooke and Jeffrey delve into the complexities of modern dating through the real-life story of their listener, Daley. The episode, titled "Brews and Bikes," explores the challenges of navigating early-stage relationships, particularly the pitfalls of overly enthusiastic post-date communications.
[08:45] Daley shares his experience meeting Crudette during a unique combination of a bicycle factory tour and brewery visit. The setting provided a relaxed atmosphere where the group bonded over shared interests.
Daley: "We kind of hit the brewery, and then we were doing the tour. Crudette was with her mom, and we all just started joking around, became a group of friends."
The date progresses smoothly until Daley decides to extend the evening alone with Crudette once her mother departs.
[12:30] Attempting to secure a second date, Daley takes a bold step:
Daley: "I ran out to the parking lot and asked her mom if Crudette could stay because I really liked her."
Although unconventional, his direct approach succeeds as Daley and Crudette share a kiss at the end of the night, marking the promising start of their relationship.
Brooke and Jeffrey dissect Daley’s next move—a voicemail left for Crudette that unfortunately includes the phrase "I love you," leading to unforeseen complications.
[18:10] Jeffrey articulates the dilemma:
Jeffrey: "He left a voicemail saying, 'I think I love you,' and now she’s been avoiding him."
[20:05] Brooke highlights the potential impact of such an intense declaration after just one date:
Brooke: "99% of the time, I would be totally creeped out. You don't just tell somebody you love them after one hangout."
The hosts express empathy for Daley while critiquing the timing and intensity of his message, pondering whether this confession was genuinely felt or a nervous overstep.
Determined to uncover the truth, Brooke and Jeffrey reach out to Crudette, orchestrating a live phone call to address the fallout from the voicemail.
[25:50] Crudette responds with surprising honesty:
Crudette: "The crazy thing is that I kind of feel the same way."
This mutual admission of love, though rare at such an early stage, shifts the narrative from a potential ghosting scenario to an unexpected romantic development.
[30:20] Daley grapples with the sudden reciprocation:
Daley: "It just felt better when I said it, but then hearing it just hit my ear differently."
The shared declaration leads to a deeper conversation about their feelings, ultimately resulting in plans for a second date.
[35:00] Brooke and Jeffrey facilitate the arrangement, emphasizing the importance of balancing emotions and pacing in budding relationships.
Brooke: "You guys are so cute. I'd be cool with it."
Despite initial reservations about the intensity, both Daley and Crudette decide to move forward, recognizing the genuine connection they share.
The episode concludes with Brooke and Jeffrey reflecting on the lessons learned from Daley and Crudette’s experience:
Timing Matters: Declarations of love should align with both parties’ comfort levels to avoid overwhelming the other.
Communication is Key: Open and honest dialogue can prevent misunderstandings and foster stronger connections.
Embrace the Unexpected: Sometimes, unconventional moves can lead to surprising and positive outcomes.
[50:15] Jeffrey sums it up:
Jeffrey: "It's about building on the amazing connection you have and taking it one step at a time."
Second Date Update: Brews and Bikes offers listeners a heartfelt exploration of the early stages of dating, highlighting the delicate balance between expressing genuine feelings and maintaining emotional equilibrium. Through Daley and Crudette’s story, Brooke and Jeffrey provide valuable insights into fostering meaningful connections while navigating the often tumultuous waters of modern romance.
