Hey, it's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning and it's Saturday which means for second date updates, it's a double. The fun type of situation. We got two classics back to back, and we started this last week where we're kind of hosting one of our full hour episodes every Sunday. Yes. Yeah. So tomorrow you're going to get a full hour episode on this feed a little bit more, and maybe you're not ready for it.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
I don't know.
Brooke
How do people feel last week about it, Alexis? We had a lot of comments. I mean, Evan plays lax, said they finally switched from the second date update to the full show, and it's way better. Only took me three years to do it.
Jeffrey
There you go. Actually funny.
Brooke
And then Ria said I didn't hate it, but honestly, I was just confused because the segments felt random and I didn't know what was going on most of the time.
Jeffrey
Which means you got to keep listening to the full show.
Brooke
Exactly. I can see that. Like, if you're used to it, like an hour podcast where people just talk nonstop about the same stuff for an hour. This is very different. This is an hour of our radio show. It's a bunch of different segments that are all smushed together.
Jeffrey
Pretty soon, someone's going to go, I have an idea. You guys should play music in between.
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Radio show.
Brooke
And then do it live.
Jeffrey
Hey.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Yeah.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
All right.
Brooke
Well, tomorrow you're in for it, whether you like it or not. We get another four hours. If you don't like it, just don't listen and then come back Monday for your brand new second date update. But right now, right now, it's the classics. Enjoy.
Jeffrey
If you're driving to work right now or to school or you're about to get out of the car and turn your radio off, I just ask one thing from you that at some point later today, you go to our podcasts, BrookeandJeffery, and look under the second dates for the title Mexican Craycation.
Brooke
Oh, okay.
Jeffrey
Because what you're gonna hear is one of the most hilarious, accidental situations ever that happened to one of our listeners while he was on a trip in Mexico. Yeah.
Brooke
And it wasn't even Tequila's fault.
Jeffrey
Well, no. Although Tequila did play a role in what happened that day, so make sure you check it out. For the lucky ones who are about to hear this live on the radio, though, get ready for your extra cray cray edition of a second date update. It's coming up next. Second date Update. How come whenever I go on vacations, I never meet anybody interesting or sexy or cool ever?
Brooke
I think it's because you have to talk to people.
Jeffrey
Yeah, I do talk to people.
Brooke
I don't know. You just, like. You're kind of like a quiet guy sometimes, you know?
Jeffrey
I'm a good listener. Yes. Thank you, bro. I just meet the weirdos, like Dale, the severely sunburned pharmacist who's celebrating his third divorce.
Brooke
Oh, so you talk to the wrong people.
Jeffrey
Yeah, I just don't meet the right people. And then the guy makes me pay for all the drinks on the booze cruise that we're on.
Brooke
Wow.
Jeffrey
But that wasn't the case for one of our listeners, Drew, who says he went down to Mexico for a vacation recently and ended up meeting an awesome woman while he was there.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Really?
Jeffrey
So let's talk to him about it. Drew, how you doing, man?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Good. How are you guys doing?
Brooke
Dude, I'm excited. Are we making an international call to Mexico?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
No, I'm back, but I was in Mexico, and I'm really confused. I need your help.
Brooke
Yeah, I know you're on the phone from here. I'm wondering about her. Oh, yeah, yeah. We call her in the next part of this.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Actually, she's here, but, you know, trying to get in touch with her. Maybe you guys can help.
Jeffrey
Okay. Okay, well, tell us how you met her.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
So, look, so I was in Mexico. I go with my family every year. It's like this whole thing.
Brooke
Oh, it's a family trip.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah. And I had, like, 20 minutes to spare, and I'm.
Brooke
Can I just. I'm sorry to interrupt, but it's not like your wife and kids. Right. I just want to make sure. When you say family trip.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
No, no, it's my aunt.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Uncle's.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
You know.
Brooke
I didn't mean to interrupt, but.
Jeffrey
But that was important.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, no, it is important. Yeah.
Jeffrey
But no.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
So, yeah, I'm at the pool and by myself at the bar, and all of a sudden, this, like, chick comes up to me, and her name is Chrissy. Turns out, apparently, we clicked. Yeah, Chrissy. Like from Three's Company.
Jeffrey
Oh, yeah. Do you have a more modern reference than that one? Because I don't think we know. I was thinking, like, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend.
Brooke
Yeah, you don't sound that old.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Well, no, I'm not. But, hey, I like reruns. But, yeah, okay. Anyway, I'm by the pool, and this Chrissy comes up to me, and we start talking, and apparently, we clicked right away because this old couple that was, like, swimming by us came up to us and asked us how long we were married.
Jeffrey
Oh, that's the Universe being a wingman. Yeah. You know, it's a good time when a total stranger thinks that you have such good chemistry with someone, you must have been with them forever. Yeah. Yeah. Or you're dating or something.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, and it was crazy, so we kind of just went with it.
Brooke
Oh, you pretended to be married to this old couple?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
No, not to the old couple. Me and Chrissy.
Jeffrey
Yeah. Yeah. I feel like anything Brooke says, you're not really listening. The way you say words. Brooke, it's important. It's my fault.
Brooke
I don't think that makes sense.
Jeffrey
It's totally broke communicating right now.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
What is happening?
Brooke
Drew, I'm so sorry. Didn't pretend to marry the old woman.
Jeffrey
Well, the way you said it, that's what it sounded like.
Brooke
I meant, see, like you pretended in front of the old people. To them, they thought you were married.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yes. So anyway, I kind of fell in love with her. I spent five hours with her, kind of.
Jeffrey
Whoa, whoa, slow down.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Did you fall in love?
Brooke
How much tequila were you drinking?
Jeffrey
That's a good question.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, I said Mexico. He went from me. But look, we hit it off. Turns out we're from the same area, we know the same people. Like it really was meant to be.
Jeffrey
What? That is small world.
Brooke
Yeah, that's pretty wild.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah. And we were supposed to meet up the next day, and I haven't heard from her.
Brooke
So you spent all day at the pool together? Did you guys go anywhere else besides the pool and the bar?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
No. Five hours in the water just drinking and laughing and pretending we're married.
Brooke
Wait, were you supposed to meet up with her at the resort again or back home?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
We were supposed to go walk on the beach in the morning. And then she texted me and she said that she had an early flight, which I understood. Okay, now that we're back, we're in the same area. Like, why isn't she getting back to me? I don't understand it.
Brooke
I mean, it's not really a date that you went on, though, right? So it's like, although you were flirting and you were doing the thing, like.
Jeffrey
I don't know, what more could you need from a date than, like, drinking and flirting and hanging out for five straight hours? What more would qualify as a date?
Brooke
I don't know. Sometimes, like, when you're on vacation, you just think of, like, vacation zone and real life zone, and then they don't overlap. There's, like, vacation boyfriends. Yeah. Yeah, like, back to real life.
Jeffrey
Oh, sorry. I didn't know the rules. Vacation. Vacation dating is different.
Brooke
I need Alexis to say everything I'm trying to say because nobody understands what I.
Jeffrey
Thank you for translating from me. So how long has it been since you've been back?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
It's been two weeks, and I texted her every other day. I don't want to be too hard, but, you know, like, we had such a good time.
Brooke
Okay, what are you sending her? Like, are you just saying? Hey, what's up? Are you sending her pics that you guys took together?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Oh, no, we didn't take any pics. You were in the pool. But yeah.
Jeffrey
Brooke, stop trying.
Brooke
I always take pics at the pool when I'm on vacation.
Jeffrey
Ew. What are you doing? I don't understand. Okay, so weird. But we're gonna come back, we're gonna call your Mexican wife, Chrissy, and we're gonna find out why she's not wanting to hang out now that you're back home together. Okay? Yeah.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
By the way, she's not Mexican. I just met her down there.
Jeffrey
Yeah, we need a Mexican wife, as in, like, she was located in Mexico. Okay, now I'm being the confusing one. All right, this might be a train wreck when we do your second D right after this.
Ryan Seacrest
Hold on.
Jeffrey
Second date update. A chance meeting at a pool in Mexico. Yes, a meeting that lasted for five wonderful hours where drinks were flowing, water was splashing, old people were admiring them as a great couple. It was just the perfect day for our listener, Drew. And they were scheduled to meet up to go for a walk on the beach together the next morning. But Chrissy, the woman that he met, texted him saying she couldn't make it.
Brooke
Which she said she had a flight out. Why didn't she remember that when she was planning the.
Jeffrey
What I said. Very suspicious. But now that they're both back home, what's changed? Is she sobered up now and suddenly not into it anymore? Is she back with her husband and can't see him without, you know, making things weird?
Brooke
It's actually not. Not a bad question.
Jeffrey
We don't know, but we're going to attempt to find out when we call Chrissy here in just a second. First. Drew, how we doing?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Good.
Brooke
Are you. I thought you'd be more nervous because you dropped a lot of emotions when we were talking to you. I mean, you were saying after five hours, this is love.
Jeffrey
You did use the L word.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Well, I think it's gonna work out.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Brooke
You're that optimistic?
Jeffrey
That's good. Okay, nervous because you think the universe is gonna set it all up? Maybe he's still having A little bit of tequila this morning, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Brooke
Body shots all around.
Jeffrey
No comment from Drew.
Brooke
That's okay, because he doesn't like me.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, exactly.
Jeffrey
He's like, not out of your body, lady. We promise we're gonna make sure Brooke talks as little as possible when we call Chrissy here.
Brooke
I'm promising nothing, Jeff.
Jeffrey
Well, then we're doomed from the start, but here we go. Dialing Chrissy.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Hello?
Jeffrey
Hey, is this Chrissy?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
This is. Who's this?
Brooke
Or should you say Ola?
Jeffrey
Yeah, I guess we could say Ola isn't a Spanish name.
Brooke
I know, but I'm not in Mexico.
Mario Lopez
I know.
Jeffrey
It's already off to a bad start here. We're a radio show. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Okay. Hi.
Jeffrey
Hi. Hey. We're. We do a segment on our show called the Second Date Update, and we're hoping that you would be a part of it.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
I mean, can you tell me more about it? Like, what's going on?
Jeffrey
Well, yeah, it's. It's where we help our listeners who met somebody or who've gone on a date with someone they really like try and reconnect for another date. And that happened recently with a guy named Drew down in Mexico. At least that's what we heard.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Yeah.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Drew.
Brooke
Yeah.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah.
Brooke
He said he's been texting you for, like, the past two weeks, and he hasn't heard much of anything back.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
He talked to you?
Jeffrey
Yeah, we got a little bit of background about what happened, that you guys met in a pool and you guys hung out there for five hours.
Brooke
He said it was a great time, like, drinks were flowing. It just felt like you guys were clicking.
Jeffrey
You even pretended like you were married at one point.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Anytime I feel like you're in a pool and drinks are flowing, it's a good time.
Jeffrey
You always pretend you're married to someone when you get in a pool?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
No, that was the first time, but I don't know, after we were in the pool for a while. Like, you said five hours. We were there, but that is a long time. Yeah, I mean, it is a long time. We got to know each other. It was great. He's a great dude, but he's kind of a lightweight because. Okay, not that I have a drinking.
Brooke
Problem or anything, it's always good when you establish that first.
Jeffrey
I drank for five hours straight and didn't feel a thing.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
We were drinking tequila for five hours, and I was just ready to keep the party going, but Drew just was ready to end the night.
Brooke
And. Well, yes.
Jeffrey
Do you see yourself better than he does? Maybe.
Brooke
It doesn't matter. You're out in the sun. Sun. It's hot. I'm sure you're dehydrated. Like, that's a long time. Anybody needs a nap after that?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
I totally get that. And I was headed to take a nap after. I wanted to go get one more drink, you know? And I. I pulled up to the hotel bar.
Brooke
Okay.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
And I. I met someone.
Brooke
Wait, what?
Jeffrey
Oh, there was another guy.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Okay. For one, Drew and I were not hooking up that day. That was a fun little. Fun little thing in the pool. But then I really met somebody, and I feel like I connected. He was an older gentleman, and I was instantly attracted to him. He was my type, and he just, like, really seemed like he had his stuff together, you know? Like there was no red flag.
Jeffrey
Wow. You have really good luck with men in Mexico resort.
Brooke
Oh, my God. That's amazing. But wait, are you still dating the guy?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Things were going so well that night that we continued them.
Brooke
Continued them here.
Jeffrey
Oh. Oh. Back home. So you're still seeing him?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Yeah. Yes.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Oh.
Jeffrey
He's also around you? By. I mean.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Yeah, he's from around here. And I just. I really, really liked Drew. He was a great guy. Had a lot of fun with him that day, but I didn't know if he was, like, the type that I wanted to go out with again. He was just somebody that I was hanging out with for the day, and it was fun. Like, I made a friend for the day.
Jeffrey
Well, that's. Look, that's totally fair, and you're absolutely allowed to meet whoever you want. But. But here's an idea, because since it's still early in your relationship with this other guy, and you're just starting things off with this person. Sorry, I don't know what his name is.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
His name is Bruce, actually.
Jeffrey
Okay, so why not continue to go out and see Drew and Bruce?
Brooke
I mean, if Bruce. If you're honest with Bruce as well.
Jeffrey
Right?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
I mean, I could think about it, but balancing two men is pretty hard.
Brooke
Brooke can show you he managed it that day.
Jeffrey
Wait, you met.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Hold on. You met somebody named Bruce there?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
What?
Jeffrey
Sorry, Chrissy, I need to let you know that Drew's actually been on the other line listening this entire time.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
You're joking.
Brooke
No, no.
Jeffrey
That's how the segment works.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Drew, what are you doing? Like, why are you doing this to me?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Oh, well, I was wanting to know why you weren't getting in touch with me, but now I'm A little confused because there's not that many Bruce's out there and you know that I was with my uncle, and his name is Bruce. So.
Jeffrey
Wait, what?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
What?
Jeffrey
That explains why they live. So what are the odds?
Brooke
Can't be.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Drew. No. I'm sorry.
Brooke
What?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Wait, what did Bruce look like? Can you please tell me? This is kind of important.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
He was an older gentleman, and he was pretty tall. Probably like 6 foot 2. And he was wearing a really nice watch. He had a very nice beard that.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Are you kidding me?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Wait, that is my uncle. Oh, no.
Brooke
No.
Jeffrey
You got a hot uncle. Oh, no.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Drew. What?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, I mean, I'm in shock. I thought we had a thing going.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
It makes sense why he's from here, too, that I couldn't figure that out.
Brooke
I'm like, oh, my God, Chrissy. So, wait, the uncle was an upgrade from our boy? Don't break it down like that.
Jeffrey
I'm just saying, remember with the mask?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Drew. Drew, listen. Since I'll probably see you at family reunions, it's not my.
Brooke
Wait, you're jumping to that crazy. Like it's that serious with this Uncle Bruce? Are we calling him Hunkle because he's like, a hunky uncle, only you. I mean, it's pretty good.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
It's pretty good.
Jeffrey
Let's not call him anything.
Brooke
Come on.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Just call him Bruce. Okay.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Sorry. He's my. My boo right now, but.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Oh, you know he's a recovering alcoholic, right?
Jeffrey
Let's not disparage our relatives on the radio.
Brooke
Yeah, that means that he's way more put together.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
I can't believe my uncle didn't even tell. I told them all about you and how we were gonna go out.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
He must have was too good to be true, so he found me himself. Oh, wow.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
But we.
Brooke
Hold on.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Why didn't you just answer me, though?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
I didn't know how to tell you that I was seeing somebody else. And I don't really see two people at a time usually.
Jeffrey
That's pretty.
Brooke
But she probably just feels too. Like she didn't owe you much, you know? It's like.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brooke
I mean, it sucks. I agree. She should have responded, but people together. Yeah, people ghost all the time. She called you a friend for the day? Yeah.
Jeffrey
Oh, my gosh.
Brooke
Just had a different feeling.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
I really thought. I. I thought we had. I don't.
Jeffrey
I.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Whatever. You know what? Have fun with Bruce. And. I mean, would you like to go out one more time?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Now what?
Jeffrey
Well, sounds like he's still a little bit interested, so we should ask Chrissy. Would you like to go out with Bruce's nephew for a day? We'll. We'll pay for that day. Bring Bruce.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
I was gonna say I might have to check with Bruce if Drew's allowed out of the house past his bedtime.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Really not cool.
Brooke
Okay.
Jeffrey
Yeah, true, man. I'm sorry, dude. I don't think we're gonna be able to get you a date here.
Brooke
I wouldn't go on vacation with your uncle ever again, that's for sure.
Jeffrey
It sounds like a fun guy.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
I will.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Every year.
Brooke
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

Jeffrey
I know I said it was going to be awkward for him at the holidays, but think about their next Mexico vacation, because Drew said it's a family tradition where they go every year. Imagine Drew having to lay out on the beach, and he has to watch Uncle Bruce with his hot young girlfriend while she rubs lotion all over Uncle's back.
Brooke
There's only one answer to this, Jeffrey, and that's that Drew meets Chrissy's aunt.
Jeffrey
Oh.
Brooke
I mean, can't fight fire without fire, right?
Jeffrey
How did we not think of that during the call?
Brooke
Yeah, so I hope she's got a single aunt or at least an aunt that's willing.
Jeffrey
Yeah. Oh, we have to make that happen.
Brooke
If anything, we have to get. Well, I guess we don't get a second day. Update. Update with Drew. But I'd like to hear how Chrissy and the uncle turn out. Is that wrong? We should go To Mexico with them and see it all go down.
Jeffrey
We need to do a remote broadcast from a tropical vacation. Place like this will be perfect. Sounds like this resort. If we find out which one will be perfect, we'll probably all end up with Uncle Bruce if we're not careful.
Brooke
Absolutely.
Jeffrey
But if you ever want to get a second aid update for yourself, you can email us at Brooke and Jeffrey. We'll call that person who isn't calling you back.
Brooke
Brooke and Jeffrey. In the morning.
Jeffrey
It's always good to make the ladies scream. Which is why all of Jose's dates happen at haunted houses. It's the only way I get him scream.
Brooke
That was way more innocent than I thought.
Jeffrey
One of our listeners says he got it done a different way. When he rolled up the to the parking lot, opened the trunk of his car, and his date couldn't help but start screaming. Oh, no. Now, was it good screaming, bad screaming, or one of those dry, emotionless screams? We're gonna find out in a second date update that's coming up right after this second date update. Alexis, how do you feel about a guy bringing you a gift? Gift on a first date? Do you like a guy to have a present or do you require it?
Brooke
Well, I was gonna say it depends on what it is. You know, like I require something, but okay, but like money's preferred.
Jeffrey
Don't show up empty, okay?
Brooke
Just cash exchange that takes the date to a different type of relationship.
Jeffrey
Whatever Alexis is into, let her have it.
Brooke
Okay, bro?
Jeffrey
It's a side business, that sort of thing. But I. I only ask cause one of our listeners says he showed up to his first date with a special surprise for his lady and it wasn't your stereotypical flowers with a box of plan B. Maybe that should not be it.
Brooke
That's considerate. That plan B is thoughtful. I mean, it'll come in handy at some point.
Jeffrey
Alexis's mom didn't use it and she came about. But you know what? Where's the romance?
Brooke
Guys, that is romantic. Being prepared is hot.
Jeffrey
Okay, we're gonna get to the gift specifically in a second. But first, Kyle is the one who emailed us, so welcome to the show, man.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Hey, guys, how you doing?
Brooke
Oh, man.
Jeffrey
God.
Brooke
We're giving you all sorts ideas for your next date, Kyle.
Jeffrey
I want to know your gift, Kyle. Like I'm scared.
Brooke
I want to know.
Jeffrey
We do. But first, tell us about this lucky lady that you met. Where did you meet her?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
So we met online on, you know, one of the apps.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Okay.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Okay. And we clicked. I thought she's really hot, and I hope she. I think she liked me.
Brooke
All right, what's her name, by the way?
Jeffrey
Did you even catch that in the profile or. Who cares? Yeah, Stop.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Her name is Sarah.
Brooke
Sarah. But what made. I mean, there's a lot of hot girls on the dating apps. Like, what made her stand out so much that you wanted to bring her a surprise gift match back with him?
Jeffrey
What can.
Brooke
It's that easy. Is that right?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Well, you know, it is, like a visual medium, so. I mean, she was really pretty. I'll just say it. She's really pretty.
Brooke
You wanted to buy her affection. I see.
Jeffrey
I don't know. Is that how it was that you're making it seem, like, weird?
Brooke
I just asked him why she stood out. Nobody had an answer besides hot.
Jeffrey
Well, that's what. What dating is, Brooke.
Brooke
I want more. I want the romance party.
Jeffrey
Just go watch a 90s movie and get your jollies off there. Yeah, Brooke wants them to, like, bump carts at the grocery store and then, like, have a whole.
Brooke
I just want them to have. I. Most people have a connection. That's all I'm saying. Besides, not in the modern dating world.
Jeffrey
No, they don't. That's not true.
Brooke
We talked to so many. Okay, we are getting off track. I'm not gonna argue about this anymore.
Jeffrey
Kyle, she's making sense. I apologize. She has no idea how modern dating works. So tell us, how. How did you. How did you and Sarah bond?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Well. So started talking about TV shows.
Brooke
Okay.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
And I asked her what. What her favorite show was, and she said she didn't own a tv.
Brooke
Whoa.
Jeffrey
Whoa. That's wild.
Brooke
I went through a phase like that.
Jeffrey
No, I get it. No cable. Okay, we know TV.
Brooke
Yeah, I mean, but you have.
Jeffrey
The 1880s were a crazy time. I know. It's just, like, drive a car with my feet.
Brooke
No, honestly, like, you're a single woman. You're living by yourself. Like, you just watch your shows on your laptop. You don't need the tv. Is that what it is?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Well, her roommate had the TV and she moved out, and so she just never got another one.
Jeffrey
Okay. She's using her laptop.
Brooke
Yeah. Okay, so that's not. Doesn't sound like a lot of bonding if you were talking about your favorite TV shows.
Jeffrey
And she doesn't own a tv. That's true.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
That was our first conversation, you know? So on a whim, I bought her a tv.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Whoa.
Brooke
Whoa. So did you awkwardly carry it into a restaurant?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
I put it in my car.
Jeffrey
I see.
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Jeffrey
For the record, TVs are not as expensive as they used to be. Yeah, but I bought people TVs.
Brooke
How many inches?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
43 inches.
Jeffrey
That's not even big.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
It was a nice TV. It had Roku.
Jeffrey
Oh, wow.
Brooke
What a nice type. Sounds something my parents would say.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
All right.
Jeffrey
And you said it was in the trunk of your car?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, put it in my trunk. So I took it to the date and I told her, hey, I've got a surprise for you.
Jeffrey
What?
Brooke
There's no way she was expecting that.
Jeffrey
That is wild. You did it in front of her.
Brooke
Wait, are we at the beginning of the date when you gave it to her, or at the end?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
I pulled up and I showed her the tv.
Jeffrey
That's amazing. That is so cool. We've never heard a TV gift on the first date. Although I have heard of. I have heard of guys being like, hey, I have a surprise for you in the trunk of my car. And then the story usually goes a totally different direction.
Brooke
It was usually a shovel and some duct tape. Yeah, but wait, what was her reaction?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Well, she was happy. She screamed. She was like, oh, this is amazing.
Jeffrey
Wow, way to set the tone.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Okay.
Brooke
After. Because then, you know, if she actually likes you. But that's okay, you know, you could.
Jeffrey
Have also segued and been like, we could either go back and try it out, Netflix and chill, or we can continue our date.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Well, I actually installed it for her, too.
Brooke
So you did go back to her place.
Jeffrey
Really?
Brooke
So, wait, did you guys go to dinner at all? Or did you. Was the TV the whole day? At this point, I'm wondering.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, we had dinner.
Brooke
Oh, you did?
Jeffrey
Oh, God, that dinner. She must have been, like, so excited to go home and try out the new tv.
Brooke
I mean, I don't think girls are like that about TVs, but, you know TV nerds.
Jeffrey
You don't think she was excited? He said she was. I mean, with the Roku? Probably. Yeah. How did it go?
Brooke
I can't get over that.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
So, yeah, I brought it up to her apartment. I hung it up on the wall, and then, you know, we watched tv and I spent the night on the couch, and she went to her room. Nothing happened.
Jeffrey
But.
Brooke
Okay. She invited you to spend the night, right?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, we were just watching tv and she fell asleep. She went to go sleep in her bed.
Jeffrey
Okay. She must have been. Just took the couch on and. You know.
Brooke
But that's like a good comfort level. Like, you meet somebody on a first date, and you allow them not only to come to your house, but to stay the Night. That's good. It's good. That's a good sign that she trusts you.
Jeffrey
So what's happened since then?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Well, so we hung out one other time, but it was like kind of short and I don't know, I was just getting like a weird vibe from her.
Jeffrey
Please tell me you did not ask for the TV back after this all happened. We've definitely had guys on the show who've been hurt and they've asked for like, like, oh, well, now I want half of my bill back because she doesn't want to see me anymore.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
No, no, I'm not that petty.
Brooke
I was thinking she'd say, oh, I had a computer, but my roommate took it. Oh, you know she wants more. Yeah, I think she's. You open the world to Netflix and chill for her. Now.
Jeffrey
She'S catching up.
Brooke
She's gotta invite people over or she's just chilling by herself. Yeah, true.
Jeffrey
Yeah, well, we'll find out when we call her and see if she even picks up and takes a break from watching Murders in the apartment or whatever in the building. Murders in the. I didn't watch it, so. But we'll find out what she's doing when we.
Brooke
In the apartment.
Jeffrey
That should be the sequel. But for now we're focused on our second date update when we come back Right after this second date update. I think all of us have imagined going on to a giant game show one day, winning and taking home an awesome prize like a 43 inch smart TV with Roku. But a girl named Sarah didn't have to do all of that. She just had to go on one date with our listener Kyle, who gifted her a brand new flat screen just.
Brooke
Because she mentioned she didn't have anything.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
And she showed up.
Brooke
It wasn't even at the end.
Jeffrey
Yeah, it's all cuz her roommate had taken her last one when she moved out. But after installing it for her and watching it together, she's been acting a little bit weird. Those are Kyle's words and he does.
Brooke
Doesn'T know why they hung out a second time, but apparently it was so short that there's not even a description of the hangout. Yeah, it was like it was that bad.
Jeffrey
I don't know what the reasoning is, but we're about to call Sarah here in a second. But Brooke, what are you thinking? What are your thoughts before we reach out to Sarah?
Brooke
I don't know, maybe it was just too much too quick because she's like she didn't ask for the TV even though she was excited about it.
Jeffrey
I didn't think of that.
Brooke
Like maybe ask.
Jeffrey
It's different. Too big of a TV is what Brooks said. He should have gone like a 30 inch. Maybe one that had a VHS player in it or something. It wasn't even a 4K. But Kyle, we're gonna try our best to do this for you, okay?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
All right. I really appreciate it, guys.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brooke
If she doesn't agree to another date, are you gonna be regretful about the TV gift or do you have a.
Jeffrey
Backup gift just in case?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
That's a good idea. Do you guys have any free giveaways or anything like that we don't have?
Brooke
Yeah, we're gonna give you a gift card at the end of this.
Jeffrey
That's enough. There you go. Maybe that'll add to it. And if you want to thank us by giving us a TV in return, that's up to you. We're not gonna pressure you, but most guests do give us something as a than.
Brooke
I have four TVs in my trunk right now just from the calls last week.
Jeffrey
Not nice ones or else you would have installed them in your house. But still, whatever it is, it's up to you. Let's call Sarah and see if she picks up. Here we go.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Hello?
Jeffrey
Hey, is this Sarah?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Yes. Is calling.
Jeffrey
Yes, you may. We're a show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Brooke
Not a TV show, a radio show.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Who?
Brooke
She's really into TV now. Jeff.
Jeffrey
Yeah, we're Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning. I'm Jeff.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Who?
Jeffrey
Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning. My name is Jeff. That's the fourth time I've said it.
Brooke
She's not gonna know. You don't know We're a morning radio show.
Jeffrey
Hey, hold on. You want to know the name of our show?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Can I help you?
Jeffrey
Sorry. You hopefully can help us because we are doing a segment called a Second Date Update and trying to get some answers for one of our listeners that you. You met up with the other night for a hot date. Two hot dates.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
I've had several dates. I don't know who you're talking about.
Brooke
Oh, I think you'll remember once we say his name.
Jeffrey
Yeah, Kyle.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Oh, God, the TV guy.
Jeffrey
Why is he. Don't say that.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Why?
Brooke
Why? Because he likes you and he said that you're super pretty.
Jeffrey
Why is your reaction that way?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Because.
Brooke
Oh my God, dude, that sounds like you have a story. And I am dying Ye like it.
Jeffrey
Would you mind sharing a little bit? Because Kyle is totally confused. He doesn't know why there hasn't been another Hangout.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Is he really?
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brooke
Well, he knows the last time you saw him, it didn't go well.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
He must be truly obtuse. Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
Jeffrey
What you call him Triangle.
Brooke
He's not a cute one.
Jeffrey
Bro, could you explain a little bit because we're totally in the dark.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Okay. Have y' all ever had somebody buy you a TV on a first date?
Jeffrey
No. Just like six or seven times, but yeah. Yeah, just everyone. But not one with Roku.
Brooke
He thought you were excited about that. Were you not?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
I mean, it was thoughtful, but I didn't know that it was getting ready to come with all these things. Okay. He's putting it up on the wall.
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
If you call, you want the story, you're about to get the story.
Brooke
Okay. I'm, like, ready for the show. I'm sitting back at my seat.
Jeffrey
We're starting with. He's putting the TV up on your wall.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Yes. And while he's installing and everything, he's like, I'm really into sports. And I'm like, oh, okay, great. And everything. That's cool. Yeah.
Brooke
Okay.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
So after it's all set up, he kicks off his shoes and turns on the game.
Brooke
The game?
Jeffrey
What game?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Yeah, he turns on a basketball game.
Brooke
Did he ask you if you wanted to watch it with him?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
No. No, no, no.
Jeffrey
That's bold.
Brooke
Yeah.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
And so he's just watching the basketball game, and then he says, hey, can you get some snacks for.
Jeffrey
No, he did not. Well, now, that is offensive. The full experience of what it's like to watch. He's doing the test run for you. He should be giving her the snacks then and putting her on.
Brooke
But, you know, he should just go home. He just feels comfortable with you. He feels like he's hanging out. He's trying to bond after one day.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brooke
How did he stay the night then? Because he said he slept on your couch, right?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Yeah. Okay, so he's so geeked up. He was like, man, the resolution, like, the picture. Oh, this was a perfect place on the wall. And he's still watching the game and everything. It's a late night game. And so I was like, well, I'm going to bed.
Brooke
Wait, you didn't kick him out?
Jeffrey
No. That's why you went to bed? Well, maybe that's, like, the insinuation, like, hey, I gotta go. Time to, you know, scare you up. Why don't you hop with me?
Brooke
No, I don't think that. I think it meant, like, you leave. Maybe you just take the TV with you.
Jeffrey
@ this point, he didn't get the hint?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
No, he did not get the hint.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Oh, God.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
And I wake up, he's gotten so comfortable. He done went to the kitchen, made him a bowl of cereal, and is watching a pickleball.
Brooke
At least he's independent. Why did you hang out with him again?
Jeffrey
Oh, my God. Yeah, he said there was a second hangout. That was what he said.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Well, I guess the only time that I saw him was later on in the day when I got home from work. He was still there. He stayed in my apartment all day.
Brooke
What? He was still there.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Okay, hold on, hold on, hold on. Can I jump in here?
Brooke
I think it'd probably be a good time.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Can I just say something?
Brooke
Okay.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Can I just say something?
Jeffrey
So, Sarah, you should probably know that that's Kyle. He's been wa on the other line wanting to talk to you.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Oh, my gosh.
Jeffrey
Well, actually, he's probably in your apartment right now calling from your couch in front of the tv, but yeah.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Are you kidding me? He's on the. This is going way too far.
Jeffrey
Yeah, okay, hold on. He's installed your TV up on the wall for you, so just let's give him a chance to explain himself.
Brooke
I wouldn't do that.
Jeffrey
Bought the TV and installed it.
Brooke
That's. That's exactly the problem with the gifts. Actually, she owes him nothing. But. But he may be a good guy that you should hear. Out. Out.
Jeffrey
Okay, that's totally different than what I said.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, I got. I got something to say. All right, so I brought you dinner and I invited you to join me, and I'm the bad guy? Is that so bad?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
You brought pizza knowing I don't eat that? So no, you didn't consider me at all. And the fact that you're in my house all day after I told you, I'm going to bed, I gotta go to work.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
You don't watch the wall and I'm.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Gonna set it outside.
Jeffrey
Wait, wait. Before this blows up any further and you guys arg about he said, she said. What is the pizza about?
Brooke
Yeah, went to dinner. I didn't think that you just brought pizza to her house.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
No, this is when he was still at my house.
Jeffrey
Okay, so this is the second night after you guys hung out the first time. And he brought dinner to till it was evening the next day. What a romantic.
Brooke
Jeffrey's being sarcastic. Dude, it's like an unwritten rule if you stay the night at somebody's house. House. You leave in the morning when they leave.
Jeffrey
Okay, but this was the second night. So what's the rule about the second night?
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah. The rule is you bring pizza.
Jeffrey
That's a good man.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
The rule is that you leave your go when I said I gotta go to bed.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Guys, is it just me or does she. She sounds ungrateful, right? I mean, I got her a tv. I mean, am I crazy?
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
By yourself? A tv, Bro, I have not heard a thank you. One time from her, that is.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
I haven't heard a thank you. I haven't heard.
Brooke
She already thanked you when you gave it to her.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
She's not thanking me now. She's just complaining that I'm watching sports. That's what you do with a tv.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
Okay, Kyle, I need you to understand this. It's not your house. So I'm gonna need you to come and get this tv. All right? If you want it, I'm putting it outside, but I am done with this.
Jeffrey
Oh, somebody's inviting you over, I think she said.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
Yeah, that sounds like an invite. Do you want pepperoni? You want cheese?
Jeffrey
Who knows to bring pizza? And we are going to provide the gift card for that pizz.
Brooke
Be on the corner.
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
It will be on the corner. He will not have any access to my apartment.
Brooke
Okay, so this is not as romantic. Maybe text the address of the corner in case one of us wants to swoop by. Oh, you know, Alexis is in the market.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
It's a nice tv.
Jeffrey
There you go.
Drew / Kyle (Listener Callers)
So don't put like a free sign on or anything. I want to know when it's out there. I'm gonna come by and I'm gonna get it.
Jeffrey
At least a hundred dollar bill lying on the ground. Oh, but that sounds like a no. I. I'm sorry, Kyle, but I guess we learned the lesson. Never give a woman a gift on a first date. Ever. No, that's just be normal.
Brooke
You know, what if there's no middle ground? Jeffrey, let's go with that.
Jeffrey
Finally we agree on something. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Brooke
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

We're getting too many no's lately, Brooke. Not getting enough yeses. And it's starting to make me lose faith in love. Oh, no, Jeff. Somebody here isn't doing their job is all I'm saying.
Brooke
It's the guy. He could have just gone home that night and he would have had another date. It is not my fault.
Jeffrey
Okay, fair. But, Brooke, is there any way that maybe next time we get a guy on the phone who spends 48 straight hours at a girl's place in his underwear watching nothing but sports? Can you at least try to spin it into a romantic thing? Just try.
Brooke
It sounds like marriage. Is that romantic. Is that good?
Jeffrey
I'm just saying you're leaving me on my own, doing all the heavy lifting, standing up for our listeners. You're throwing them right under the bus.
Brooke
I started by saying it was good that she let him stay because it obviously meant she trusted him. I didn't know that. It obviously meant that he didn't get the messages.
Jeffrey
Okay, you're still on the pessimistic train. We need you to hop back onto the optimist optimism train and stand up for our listeners. Right or wrong?

And guess what?
Chrissy / Sarah (Call-in Guests)
What?
Jeffrey
What? I'm stressed. I got invited to a friendsgiving and now there's the big question of what to bring. Well, just bring a bottle of Casamigos. Oh, Casamigos. Of course. Nothing brings people together like a batch of Casamigos margaritas. A Casamigos margarita really is the perfect cocktail. Plus, Casamigos goes with everything. Turkey, stuffing, Mac and cheese. Episode: Mexican Craycation + Boob Tube Experiment
Date: October 18, 2025
Podcast: iHeartPodcasts
This special "Second Date Update Classics" episode features two unforgettable tales of dating gone wrong: "Mexican Craycation" and "Boob Tube Experiment." The theme is as always—high entertainment, low second-date success. Brooke, Jeffrey, and the crew dissect these situations with their signature wit and irreverence, calling out would-be couples to get to the not-so-romantic truth behind ghosting and mixed signals.
[04:05 – 19:28]
[22:00 – 38:36]
The episode packs two stand-out Second Date Update stories: one a family vacation with a love triangle that nobody saw coming, the other a lesson in why gifts (and boundaries) are best left for later dates. Both offer listeners all the awkwardness, humor, and humanity the show is known for. Whether you’re nursing a dating disaster or just want to laugh at someone else’s, these classics deliver.
