Did you know Tide has been upgraded to provide an even better clean in cold water? Tide is specifically designed to fight any stain you throw at it, even in cold butter. Yep. Chocolate ice cream.
Jeffrey
Sure thing.
Brooke
Barbecue sauce. Tide's got you covered. You don't need to use warm water. Additionally, Tide pods let you confidently fight tough stains with new coldzyme technology. Just remember, if it's gotta be clean, it's gotta be tied.

The more you listen to your kids, the closer you'll be. So we asked kids, what do you want your parents to hear?
Alexis
I feel sometimes that I'm not listened to.
Brooke
I would just want you to listen to me more often and evaluate situations.
Danny Shapiro
With me and lead me towards success.
Brooke

Alexis
Little did we know it would last 10 years. I mean, but here's the thing. Stay out of the forest. You're in a cult. Call your dad.
Brooke
This is terrible.
Alexis
You guys, stay sexy. Don't get murdered.
Maria Hinojosa

Alexis

Amanda
Goodbye.
Brooke
All right. We got your brand new episode to kick off the week. Welcome to the Brooke and Jeffrey second date update podcast. And this is just a prime example of overthinking something, you know, taking something a little too literally and letting it live rent free in your head. It really ruined his whole date. But you're gonna hear what that is in just a second. And we always love to highlight you.
Alexis
Yes.
Brooke
And today we are gonna highlight newbegin. Who said love from Ethiopia. Alexis, stay strong. Being surrounded by old people. Wait, they mean us?
Alexis
I think so.
Brooke
Yeah, I know. No. Wow.
Danny Shapiro
Okay.
Brooke
It's because you've been volunteering at a senior center. That's what they're. That's what they're talking about. Totally unwork related. It was about my personal life. Don't worry, Brooke. All right, let's get this new episode started right now. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning second date update.
Alexis
If your dating life isn't going well, let's say you've been single for more than a year. You've been on a dozen different first dates, but not many seconds. Where do you go? Who do you talk to for advice?
Brooke
I hope you're. You're saying us.
Alexis
Definitely not us. Not first, anyways. I mean, we're more of a last resort. Yeah, good point. Okay, if you hit rock bottom, open up the door to the basement and find us down there. That's exactly what our listener Anthony decided. Because long before he came to us, he went to his friend seeking advice first. So I'm curious to learn more about it. Anthony, welcome to the show.
Anthony
Hey, guys. Thanks for having me.
Brooke
Yeah. Welcome to the lowest point of your dating career. Anthony. We are so glad to be part of it.
Anthony
That means it feels great.
Alexis
The only place for you to go is up from here. All right, that's the good news. But let's start with hearing about your love life, because you said you've been struggling a little bit lately.
Anthony
Yeah, I have not had a lot of success with women lately.
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford
Okay.
Anthony
All right. I asked a female friend of mine for some honest feedback. Oh, okay.
Danny Shapiro
That's good.
Alexis
At least it wasn't a guy.
Brooke
No, but are you ready for the answer? You know, that's always the question.
Alexis
Because that female feedback is brutal.
Brooke
If you ask for honesty, you're going to get it.
Alexis
Okay. What did your friends say?
Anthony
Well, we even did a pretend date during her work lunch so she could kind of see my game.
Alexis
Oh, that's kind of smart. Never heard of that.
Brooke
Do you, like, role played that you were on a first date with Her?
Danny Shapiro
Yeah.
Anthony
You know, we tried to do our best to recreate the real thing.
Alexis
That's good. Like, now you're giving her the context of what you're actually like on a date. So that's a good friend. Someone willing to practice dating with you and kiss you, even. That's really cool.
Rhianna Dillon
I didn't say that.
Brooke
I want to know what her review was afterwards.
Anthony
Yeah, overall, it was pretty positive.
Danny Shapiro
Okay.
Anthony
But afterwards, she did mention a couple of things.
Alexis
All right.
Anthony
She said, I lick my lips a lot when I talk.
Brooke
Oh.
Alexis
I lick my lips a lot, too.
Brooke
That's interesting. I could see that being, like, a weird ick for some people.
Alexis
Totally. But at the same time, it means that she was focused hyper on your lips the entire date.
Anthony
That's a pretty good point.
Alexis
Yeah. So don't take it all negative.
Brooke
So you lick your lips too much.
Anthony
I do. I do. I didn't even realize that. And apparently I use my hands too much.
Brooke
Is that a thing? You can use your hands too much? Like when you talk as I do. We don't. All of us do that so much. We don't have the boundaries.
Alexis
Too animated when you talk.
Anthony
Yeah, animated. That's. I was going to say I'm a handsy talker, but that doesn't sound right.
Alexis
Yes, that's a totally different problem. So you got all that flow feedback. What'd you do with that information?
Anthony
Well, I went on a date, and I'm not sure if all of that helped or hurt.
Alexis
Oh, okay. Before we get too into the details, what's the name of the girl that you met?
Anthony
Oh, her name is Amanda.
Alexis
Amanda.
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford
Okay.
Brooke
Okay.
Alexis
Where'd you meet her?
Anthony
I met her off of the app.
Brooke
All right.
Alexis
Okay.
Brooke
And it doesn't sound like you're having problem getting the dates, so that's good.
Anthony
Yeah, I. I've never had problems getting the first date. It's the second date that's been my issue.
Brooke
Yeah.
Alexis
Something you're doing on the date?
Brooke
Yeah.
Alexis
Right. So, us through how the date went?
Anthony
Well, I took her to a wine bar.
Brooke
Cute. Nice.
Alexis
Good.
Anthony
Yeah, I was trying to be very body conscious.
Alexis
What does that mean?
Anthony
Yeah, you know, just based on the feedback I. I got from her friend beforehand.
Brooke
I see.
Alexis
Oh, about the. The lip licking and. And hand flailing.
Brooke
I got the driest lips on the. It makes mine dry thinking about it.
Anthony
Yeah.
Danny Shapiro
How.
Brooke
How.
Alexis
How are you body conscious about that stuff?
Anthony
Well, I was very conscious about not licking my lips. I even asked for a straw with my wine.
Brooke
You went to a wine bar?
Alexis
Did you think about bringing chapstick, because that always stops me from doing, you know, licking my lips. Once you put it on, then you're like, okay, I'm better.
Anthony
Yeah, I should have. I should have thought about that.
Alexis
Okay. Did you help?
Brooke
I mean, you actually put a straw in a wine glass and drank it that way?
Anthony
Yeah, I was also keeping my hands down at my side. Like I was just kind of bent down and sipped it like a kid.
Alexis
Like you're drinking chocolate milk. Yeah, we don't want to get too handsy with your straw and your wine glass.
Brooke
Did you knock it over? That sounds like a terrible.
Anthony
No, no, I didn't knock it over, but I don't know if she thought it was weird. Yeah, you know, I was just trying to correct what my. My work friend had said.
Brooke
Did you tell her why or no?
Anthony
No, I didn't tell her why. I did ask her for help, though, because.
Alexis
Oh, no. Oh, how?
Anthony
Well, they weren't bringing the bill and I didn't want to be waving my arms around at the waiter, so I asked her to do it instead.
Alexis
You had her flag down. Maybe too.
Brooke
Seriously, did you tell your friend that this is what you did? She would be mortified, I think, if this is how you took the advice.
Anthony
Listen, I was just trying to take the notes that she gave me.
Brooke
I know, it's sweet. It's sweet that you're trying and you're trying to improve yourself. Like, we appreciate that.
Alexis
And that's the thing. Whenever you're trying to fix something, you usually tend to overcorrect on the behavior too much. Do you feel like maybe that's what happened?
Anthony
I definitely think I went too far the other way. I. I even gave her a no armed hug, which I'm sure was awkward.
Brooke
Wait, what?
Alexis
Bumping into her.
Brooke
You just rubbed your chest up against her.
Anthony
My shoulder. But ye.
Alexis
It Basically, in your defense, I'm sure it was the best no armed hug that she's ever gotten in her entire life.
Brooke
So she hug you back?
Anthony
She did, but she kind of didn't know what to do. She just kind of put her shoulder back and drove it into mine.
Alexis
Oh, so the feeling is mutual then.
Anthony
Okay, yeah, it was not the kind of bump and uglies I was hoping for.
Alexis
So what's happened since? Because my guess is you're not texting her since you're not allowing yourself to use your hands. Yeah, that's the only problem.
Brooke
Just his nose.
Anthony
I've just keep my phone down at my side when I do my texting. So I'm not waving them around.
Brooke
You're still practicing this no hands thing?
Anthony
No, I was. I was joking with that.
Brooke
Okay.
Alexis
The humor is on point.
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford
Charming.
Alexis
So how long has it been since your no hand wine date?
Anthony
Well, it's been over a week, and I haven't heard from her, so I feel like I said, like, I went too far the other way and I need a redo.
Brooke
I think it's a sweet reason. I think if you get a chance to explain why you did that.
Anthony
Yeah, you know, but maybe she didn't notice. Maybe it was something else that my friend didn't notice and that's the reason she's not getting back to me.
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford
True.
Alexis
Could be another thing that you have to work on in your personal dating life, but we're gonna find out for sure. I hope not either. Just make sure your lips are nice and super dry to get ready to speak to her when we come back. Is everybody else licking their lips?
Brooke
Yes, I have, like, don't do it. I'm at chapstick immediately.
Alexis
Don't do it. It's not sexy. We're gonna be a sexy edition of the second date update right after this.
Danny Shapiro
Hold on.
Brooke
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second d.
Alexis
You've heard of bear hugs, side hugs, triple person sandwich hugs, but have you ever heard of a no armed hug? Well, now you have, because our listener Anthony may have invented it during his first date with Amanda.
Brooke
It sounds kind of painful. Depending on how pointy your shoulders are, it could be.
Alexis
But he did it because one of his female friends told him that he tends to use his hands too much whenever he talks and interacts. So Anthony was trying to overcorrect for that during his date.
Brooke
He definitely went to the extreme.
Alexis
Yes. Tried to use his hands as little as possible. But most horrifying for Brooke was when he used a straw in his wine glass.
Brooke
I mean, honestly. Still no hands, dude.
Alexis
Still no hands.
Brooke
Yes. I can't even believe you found a wine bar that had a straw. Yeah, good point.
Alexis
But he did that because he was also told that he licks his lips too much whenever he's talking. So that was the workaround to not be licking his lips the entire time. He's worried he may have overdone it, but he's brave enough to come on the show and admit his mistakes. And you should be proud of that, Anthony.
Brooke
Yeah.
Anthony
Thanks, guys. I was thinking about it, and I think it's okay if you tell her about all of the reasons why I was doing all that stuff.
Brooke
Okay. Yeah.
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford
Oh, okay.
Brooke
I think that's a really good idea, Anthony. I think that it shows that you're a person who's open to constructive criticism that you're willing to change. Like, I think it's all positive for you.
Anthony
I appreciate you guys telling her. I. I just. I'm not very good with words, so. I appreciate that.
Alexis
Neither are we, so. This is going to be a disaster. That's why I said try. Here we go. I'm going to use my hands to dial Amanda's phone number. Oh, dude, use something else. That's all the hand play that we'll get for today. Here we go.
Amanda
Hello?
Alexis
Hey, are we speaking to Amanda?
Amanda
Yes, this is Amanda.
Alexis
Hey, Amanda. You're on a radio show right now. There's a whole room of people here. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning. Good morning.
Brooke
Hi. Yeah.
Amanda
Did I win something?
Alexis
Absolutely not.
Brooke
We haven't had a budget for that in a long time.
Alexis
Should have called us back in the 1980s, but no. We're doing a segment called the Second Date Update.
Amanda
Okay.
Alexis
If you haven't heard that before, it's where one of our listeners has reached out to us after he went out on a date with you, had a really good time, but he's having trouble locking down a second one guy named Anthony.
Amanda
Oh, yeah, yeah, I went on a date with Anthony.
Anthony
Right.
Danny Shapiro
Okay.
Brooke
Yeah, I like your tone. It sounds like you're remembering it in a positive way.
Amanda
I mean, kinda.
Brooke
Okay.
Danny Shapiro
Okay.
Alexis
Well, we figured there must be something up because you haven't met up with him a second time. And we're just trying to help Anthony figure out if there's a reason for that.
Amanda
Gotcha. Okay.
Alexis
And he does have a thought about maybe why you're not calling. You may have noticed his behavior was a little different.
Amanda
I mean, I think he. He was great. Like, the conversation was good. But, you know, there was a few things that were kind of funny. Like he drank from a straw, his wine and.
Brooke
Oh my God, did you about die when he asked the waitress for a straw to drink his wine?
Amanda
Yeah, I just thought that it was kind of strange, especially like on a first date, you know, I would.
Brooke
I would have assumed because I read a tip a long time ago, like, drink coffee out of a straw and you won't stain your teeth. Like, did you have any thought as to why doing that?
Amanda
So one of my girlfriends insists that the restaurants don't clean their glasses well enough. So she always drinks with a straw no matter what. So I was like, oh, maybe it's Something like that.
Alexis
Interesting.
Brooke
It's a theory.
Alexis
It stands out.
Danny Shapiro
Yeah.
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford
Yeah.
Alexis
Dirty wine glasses does explain a lot of Brooks odd behavior. That would make sense.
Danny Shapiro
Yeah. I didn't.
Amanda
I didn't ask, though. I didn't ask him about it.
Brooke
Okay, so how do you get that oaky flavor if it's all washed off? You know?
Alexis
I get it. You like the natural tree flavor. So is that that you notice the straw in the wine glass?
Brooke
Yeah.
Amanda
I mean, and then also just like, his texts, I could tell that he was not being genuine. It was like, almost like he put it into Chat GPT.
Brooke
Wait, before, after the date?
Amanda
Beforehand it didn't seem like that, but afterwards it seemed like that. Yeah, And I can't be sure of it, but I just. I've used Chat GPT enough.
Alexis
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Brooke
I mean, when my friends talk in their Tesla's though, it does that. It does periods after every sentence when you talk out loud. I know, but there's just like a cadence to it. Like, we used to have a sales guy who would send all of his emails via Chat GPT, and they're so cheesy and awful.
Alexis
So you're upset because you think that he's been using Chat GPT to help write messages to you?
Amanda
Yeah, I mean, I'm not upset, but I'm just, like, really turned off by that because it's like, I want somebody have deep conversations with me, not like an AI boyfriend.
Alexis
You can.
Amanda
You can order those, actually. But.
Brooke
That'S really funny. I mean, I think when we talk to him, it's really funny that you say that, because he did mention before we called you that he wasn't very good with words. So maybe it's just something where he didn't think his message was good enough.
Alexis
You know, let's give him a chance to try to use his words because he actually is on the other line of this phone call waiting to jump in and speak with you.
Amanda
Oh, wow.
Anthony
Hey. Hey, Amanda.
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford
Look at that.
Anthony
I'm sorry.
Amanda
Yeah.
Brooke
Oh, she's sorry. I know. You guys are so nice.
Alexis
Yeah.
Amanda
I just feel bad because I feel like I'm. I just. I don't. I feel bad that I said that, but it's true.
Alexis
Well, is it true? We don't know that. Oh, yeah.
Anthony
I'm. I'm not gonna deny it, but there is an explanation.
Brooke
Oh, okay.
Alexis
What's going on?
Anthony
I have. But you're not gonna believe this. I was one of the inventors of ChatGPT, so in a way, those are my words.
Alexis
No, Way.
Brooke
Hasn't it been around for a long time?
Alexis
This is Chad from Chad GPT.
Brooke
Anthony, Chad GPT works by taking all everything on the Internet essentially and learning from that.
Alexis
Did you just event like a part of the technology or something? What are you talking about?
Anthony
Yeah, I did. I. I did help invent it. I and I.
Alexis
So your justification is that because you helped do the codes for Chad GPT, Chat GPT is actually using your words?
Anthony
I mean, essentially, yes.
Alexis
Well, I use your words a lot, brother.
Brooke
Yeah. I'm sorry.
Danny Shapiro
Yeah.
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford
Thank you.
Brooke
Wouldn't you be so rich?
Danny Shapiro
Yeah.
Alexis
How do we know he's not rich?
Maria Hinojosa
I don't know.
Brooke
He's calling us for help. Like, don't real people don't listen to us? Don't real rich people, like have assistance to do stuff?
Alexis
Anthony, how do you feel that Brooke just insinuated that you're broke?
Brooke
I didn't say broke. There's somewhere in between. Jeff, you know, you're middle class. You're not like, I invented Chat GPT rich. I just. I don't know you.
Alexis
Anthony, feel free to respond.
Anthony
I can neither confirm nor deny, but I can at least say that I have not had luck with second dates and that's why I came to you guys.
Brooke
But don't women throw yourselves themselves at you when they learn like that you're the founder, like one of the founding people of Chat GPT.
Anthony
I don't normally tell people that because they never believe me.
Brooke
Girls Google every guy's name they go out with.
Alexis
They'll find out.
Brooke
Okay. I mean, I have no reason not to believe you.
Alexis
It's more about Amanda. Amanda? What do you think? Hearing that.
Danny Shapiro
Good point.
Amanda
I mean, I'm also having trouble believing it.
Alexis
You don't think he's one of those.
Brooke
Like gambles that you want to take, right? Like, what's the worst that could happen? Chad gbt. If he's the founder of does it even change anything?
Alexis
Like, how petty are we if he is a billionaire or if he's not?
Brooke
Yeah. Do you like him? I don't even date for money. And a billionaire changes everything.
Anthony
Okay, listen, I never said I was a billionaire. And you guys are making this all about money.
Alexis
And that's my point.
Brooke
Does she like you for you?
Danny Shapiro
Yeah.
Amanda
Yeah, I did like the wine date. That was nice.
Dr. Joy Harden Bradford
Okay.
Alexis
I mean, that's real Anthony. Face to face.
Amanda
Yeah.
Maria Hinojosa
Yeah.
Amanda
He didn't ask me to split the bill, so maybe he did start Chat GPT.
Alexis
I don't think that means that either. Okay, He's Got. He's got enough for dinner.
Brooke
I feel like there's enough here that you'd want to go out and just see what's up.
Alexis
Yeah. Do a little investigation to find out what he really does for work. And if you're willing to see him one more time, we would pay for that date. Amanda.
Danny Shapiro
Ooh.
Amanda
I mean, I'm definitely gonna Google him to see if he's telling the truth, but I would go on a second date.
Brooke
Okay.
Anthony
I didn't work on Google, so I don't know what that one's gonna say.
Alexis
Never trust them.
Brooke
Not trust any of it. Yeah, okay. AI Mode.
Alexis
But you did. You did agree to another date. So this is successful, Anthony.
Brooke
Oh, maybe AI stands for Anthony Intelligence.
Alexis
Hey, there we go. Anthony, is that true?
Anthony
I can neither confirm nor deny. I do want to confirm, though, that I don't actually drink wine through a straw.
Brooke
Okay.
Alexis
Yeah, that's true.
Brooke
Yeah. We never explained that to her, Anthony.
Alexis
Yeah, and she actually didn't mind. I mean, she noticed.
Anthony
Well, we can talk about all that on our next date. It'll be a fun story.
Alexis
And just wait till you see what he can do with his hands, too.
Amanda
This is going to be interesting.
Brooke
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Danny Shapiro
Hi, I'm Danny Shapiro, host of the hit podcast Family Secrets.
Alexis
We were in the car like a Rolling stone came on, and he said, there's a line in there about your mother. And I said, what? What I would do if I didn't feel like I was being accepted is choose an identity that other people can't have. I knew something had happened to me in the middle of the night, but.
Rhianna Dillon
I couldn't hold on to what had happened.
Danny Shapiro
These are just a few of the moving and important stories I'll be holding space for on my upcoming 13th season of Family Secrets. Whether you've been on this journey with me from season one or just joining the Family Secrets family, we're so happy to have you with us. Rhianna Dillon

You know, it's funny that you say rich people don't listen to our show when we literally had the Gates family in here as admitted fans. Are they not rich enough for you, Alexis?
Brooke
I wasn't here, so it's been a long time since we don't know that they still listen.
Rhianna Dillon
And it was the kids.
Brooke
Like Bill and Melinda never came in.
Alexis
Okay, kids, you don't count.
Jeffrey
I don't know.
Brooke
I guess you're right. I got hung up on the money aspect of it, which is not something I typically do. You do.
Alexis
And how dare you shame all of our billionaire listeners all over the world. I want them to know that, hey, I see you and I am available for whatever, wherever.
Danny Shapiro
Okay.
Alexis
Prices are listed on my blog. You will find I will do almost anything.
Brooke
Jeff wants a millionaire dot com. Billionaire.
Alexis
Billionaire.
Anthony
Sorry.
Alexis
Overall, though, I will say I am happy that Anthony was able to pull out another date. But if we do find out later that his friend suggested to tell the girl that he's some sort of AI mogul, obviously it works. So touche, Anthony. Well done.
Brooke
I just want an update so I can find out if this is true or not.
Alexis
Me too. You know, because you can't ask ChatGPT, GPT. Who knows what that's going to say. Listeners can do some sleuthing for us.
Anthony
And tell us if they can find.
Alexis
An Anthony who created a code.
Brooke
Yes, AI always lies to you.
Alexis
Yeah, that's true, too. And while you're doing your research, go research our show. Wherever you get your podcast, we're available. Apple, Spotify, wherever you find them, just look up Brooke and Jeffrey.

Little did we know it would last 10 years. I mean, but here's the thing. Stare to the forest. You're in a culture. Call your dad.

This episode of Brooke and Jeffrey’s Second Date Update revolves around Anthony, a self-confessed first-date pro who never gets called back for a second outing. Haunted by his habit of licking his lips and overly animated hand gestures, Anthony tries to “fix” his behavior on a first date with Amanda—resulting in awkward antics, a memorable "no-armed" hug, and even a wine straw. The team calls Amanda to discover the real reason for her lack of response, only for the conversation to spiral into AI accusations, billionaire jokes, and a surprising outcome.

The episode is playful, sarcastic, and self-aware, blending empathetic advice with good-natured mockery. It highlights how well-intentioned self-improvement can backfire in the high-pressure world of modern dating—and how communication mishaps can be both awkward and entertaining. Ultimately, it’s a story of perseverance and not taking oneself too seriously.
Final Note: While Anthony’s claims about creating ChatGPT are (almost certainly) tongue-in-cheek, the episode leaves listeners wondering—setting up the Second Date Update’s trademark cliffhanger.
For Fans & New Listeners:
Expect awkward dates, relatable missteps, sharp banter, and an unpredictable ending—but above all, entertainment at someone else’s (good-natured) expense.
