Well, I definitely learned something today in our brand new second date update.
Alexis
Yeah, I think we all did.
Co-host 2
It's mega Jeffrey in the morning. And this woman has a very unique style of dating. I'm really. Well, I don't want to get too into it because I don't want to spoil it for you, so.
Alexis
No, let us know what you think.
Co-host 2
Yes, let us know what you think. Or if you've ever heard of it before. I mean, that. Also, I would like to know, especially.
Alexis
To our international listeners.
Co-host 2
Absolutely.
Alexis
I need you on this one because.
Co-host 2
We love reading your comments. When you see Alexis.
Alexis
Yeah, Brandon Martin said, currently in the hospital, my wife just had our third baby. Shout out. Theo Archer. But I'm still here to get my.
Co-host 2
Fix on our YouTube page.
Noah
Theo Jose Archer. What a beautiful name.
Co-host 2
Three kids. Wow, that is so cool. Yeah.
Alexis
And you're still on our YouTube. Brooke and Jeffrey. YouTube.
Co-host 2
Yep. There it is. There it is. Well, congratulations, and make sure you give, you know, your wife all the flowers she deserves. Yeah, that was a lot of work there, especially the third time around. All right, let's get your brand new second date update started right now.
Brooke
Second date update. What are the classic signs that your date is not going well? Maybe they keep forgetting your name. Yeah, they ask the waiter for separate checks before you even order.
Co-host 2
Oh, God, that would hurt. Ouch.
Brooke
Or they FaceTime their mom trying to hook you up with her instead.
Co-host 2
Oh, what the heck? I mean, you'd kind of like that, wouldn't you?
Alexis
They might be upgrading.
Noah
I actually FaceTime many mothers on dates. They like the show.
Brooke
Maybe it's not as bad as I thought, but our listener Noah said he saw clear signs immediately on his date that things were just not going right.
Co-host 2
Immediately. That means she's not even giving you a chance.
Brooke
Let's hear from him. Noah. Welcome to the show, man.
Noah
Hi. Hi. Thanks for having me on.
Co-host 2
God, immediately. This is terrible.
Brooke
Yeah.
Noah
I'm kidding.
Brooke
Yeah. So tell us about the name of this lady and how you met her.
Sophie
Yeah, yeah.
Noah
So her name is Sophie, and we met on a Dating app.
Co-host 2
All right.
Noah
When I saw her picture, I mean, she's totally my type. She's got these beautiful brown eyes, long dark hair.
Co-host 2
Okay.
Noah
I mean, to be honest with you, I. I just felt like I was lucky that she matched with me.
Co-host 2
Aw, that's a nice compliment. Yeah. For her.
Brooke
Kind of thick there.
Sophie
Okay.
Co-host 2
Oh, wow. Okay. He likes her job, you know, and.
Noah
We started, like, messaging really quickly. And the messaging back and forth was good and it was natural. And I got the impression that she's like a worldly person.
Co-host 2
Like, she travels a lot.
Sophie
Yeah.
Noah
Like she's a traveler, you know?
Brooke
And like, what, from her pictures that she was traveling?
Noah
No, no, just like the way she was talking, you know, she would, like, bring up weird facts about, like, countries and stuff or talk about smart, loving to go on vacations and things like that and.
Co-host 2
Yeah, that's cool. And you like that about her, obviously?
Noah
Yeah, sure. I mean, I admit I haven't really traveled much in my life, but I. I like that, you know, and I.
Co-host 2
Like somebody that knows stuff and maybe that's somebody. Yeah. Introduce it to you.
Noah
Sure. Yeah. I mean, it was. I was all about it, and eventually it got to the point where I was like, well, do you want to meet up in person? And she said, yeah. And she said she wanted to go on a European date.
Co-host 2
Does that mean dinner starts at 11pm.
Noah
It was kind of a weird thing, right? Like, I didn't exactly know what that meant.
Brooke
Like actually in Europe and travel there or just a European style cuisine.
Sophie
No, I didn't get the impression she.
Noah
Wanted to go to Europe. She said a European, you know, go to, like, a European place. And she mentioned Scandinavia. That was the thing. It was like Scandinavia or like the Nordic countries or something. And. Okay, let's go have some pickled fish.
Alexis
Oh, there's a Scandinavian. A coffee shop here. That's really good.
Co-host 2
Or maybe she wanted to go Dutch, meaning she wants to split it equally.
Noah
That's an elaborate way of saying. And I. I didn't want to, like, ask anything because I didn't want to seem, like, dumb, you know, I didn't want to seem like I didn't know what she was talking about.
Sophie
Uh.
Noah
Oh, yeah. Well, I just sort of pretended that I knew what she was talking about.
Co-host 2
Wait, and you're gonna have to plan a date without knowing what she wants? Like.
Noah
Yeah, I mean, I have a history of this. I mean, in college, I took a girl out and she said she had a gluten allergy. And so I didn't know what that meant. So I took her to an Italian restaura.
Brooke
We just can't go to German because.
Co-host 2
That'S gluten in college.
Brooke
Okay.
Noah
Better to ask forgiveness than permission, I guess. I don't know. This is what I do.
Brooke
Okay?
Noah
And so I just rolled the dice and I made a reservation at a couple of different places, and I just figured I'd let her pick. Nice. You know? And I was even worried, like, my car's a Japanese car. Like, should I rent a European car? Get out of here.
Co-host 2
Get out of here. You're taking this too far.
Alexis
She cared how much she'd move there.
Brooke
You're, like, way up in your own head before you've even actually met her in person. Yeah. Did you eventually meet her?
Sophie
I did.
Noah
So she wanted me to pick her up at her apartment, and she looked just like her pics.
Sophie
Okay, good sign.
Co-host 2
Okay, and then where does it go? Bad. Because you said it went. You got bad signs immediately.
Noah
Well, so this is where it started getting weird. So while I was at her place, I told her that I made some dinner reservations at European restaurants. And she said, I don't know if we should do that. Kind of a weird thing to say, right? Yeah. So I said, well, should I cancel the reservation? Well, like, what do you want to do? And she was just sort of non committal, you know, she said she was pretty tired.
Co-host 2
Didn't that annoy you? I'm sorry, but, like, you went through all this trouble and she's being kind of rude about it in her house.
Noah
Well, it was less annoying and more just weird because she had confirmed a half hour before this, and she said that she was, like, ready to go to bed and you're like, a night's over.
Brooke
What?
Co-host 2
Like Alexis said, you're inside her apartment and she's canceling the date. And.
Sophie
Yeah. Yeah.
Noah
So I was starting to get worried that maybe I didn't look like my pictures or something.
Brooke
You're like, did I accidentally catfish this woman?
Noah
Right. I didn't think I misrepresented myself, but I just didn't know what was going on.
Brooke
Or maybe she has a certain standard of European restaurant that she wants to go to and the ones that you chose weren't up to that level.
Co-host 2
Or maybe she was asking you to go to bed with her immediately.
Sophie
Brooke.
Brooke
That's just how Brooke's brain works.
Co-host 2
Maybe you were so sexy that you walked in and she's like, oh, I am tired. Skip the dinner.
Noah
Yeah, I would be lying if I said that thought didn't briefly Pass through my head, but that was not the vibe I was getting at all.
Brooke
Okay, so did you end up going out to eat anywhere?
Noah
No, I only spent like 15 minutes there at her apartment. And eventually I said, you know, I'll just go. And so I left. And I've been texting her, but she hasn't been responding. And I really want to go out with her, but I figured, like, maybe I screwed up somehow and I just don't know how.
Brooke
Well, obviously you did, but I just don't know what it was.
Noah
It's our fault for sure.
Co-host 2
It's hard to, like, think that you should even give this girl any more time because of the way she treated you.
Brooke
But at the same time, it sounds like he wants to know what the reason was before he finally moves on.
Co-host 2
Well, and it also sounds like she's really hot, so he'll put up with a lot.
Noah
She's really hot.
Sophie
Yeah.
Brooke
Okay, well, we're going to come back, we'll call Sophie and try to get her to agree to, I mean, at least an American date. All the fast food coupons she can handle. We'll do it right after this. Hold on. Second date update. Out of all the dates that we've heard about this year, this one might be the shortest. Just 15 minutes that Noah spent with Sophie.
Co-host 2
Yeah, and most of it was spent talking about how she. She didn't want to be in it.
Brooke
Yeah, or trying to figure out which European restaurant they should go to, if they go out at all. It wasn't a very productive conversation till eventually she just said, you know what? I'm tired. I'm going to go to bed.
Co-host 2
God.
Noah
And that was not even like, come with me.
Brooke
No, just like, I'm sleepy. Darn. That was basically it. Now, to be fair, Noah did say she is very hot. And hot girls do require more beauty sleep, so we should probably give her a little bit of grace on that one.
Co-host 2
How it works.
Brooke
So I've heard.
Noah
She must be like a koala.
Co-host 2
I will say I feel like I dropped a couple points since kids, and it's not because of anything other than just the lack of sleep.
Brooke
Oh, just a couple points. I think Noah deserves to at least get me some answers out of this, right, Brooke?
Co-host 2
Yeah. I mean, I don't know that you should probably go out with her again, but what do I know? You're attractive.
Alexis
Hey, what if he did something wrong?
Co-host 2
We don't know.
Noah
Well, that's the thing. I just want to know if I did do something wrong, what it was. And maybe she'll give me a second chance.
Co-host 2
Okay, but remember, no matter how hot she is, self respect is priceless.
Noah
Blah, blah, blah.
Brooke
Half of our listening audience just tuned out. So thank you for that comment, Brooke. Here we go. I'm going to dial Sophie. Hopefully we can get her to agree to, if not a European date, just an American style one. But let's see what she has to say. Here we go.
Sophie
Hello?
Brooke
Hey, is this Sophie?
Sophie
Yes, this is she. Who's this?
Brooke
Hey, this is a radio show that you're on right now. It's called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Sophie
What?
Co-host 2
Welcome to the show, Sophie.
Noah
Hello. Good morning.
Co-host 2
Glad to have you on it.
Sophie
This is random.
Brooke
Yeah, a little bit time.
Noah
It is random.
Sophie
How did you guys. How did you guys get my number?
Brooke
Yeah, we got your number from one of our listeners that you went on a date with recently. A guy named Noah.
Sophie
Okay.
Co-host 2
I don't know if we could even say you went on a date. He came to your house to take you on a date.
Brooke
Yeah.
Co-host 2
It just never seemed to happen.
Sophie
Yeah, right.
Brooke
Yeah, according to him. Because we spoke to him about it. It only lasted, he said, about 15 minutes and he was pretty bummed out. That's where it ended.
Co-host 2
Yeah.
Sophie
What is this whole thing about? How am I involved in this?
Brooke
This is a segment called a second date Update. It's where we try to help our listeners get answers for why things didn't go well on their first meetup or why there hasn't been a second one. So we're just trying to help Noah figure out if he did something wrong.
Co-host 2
Yeah, because he's pretty easy to own that it could be him.
Brooke
I mean, and it is interesting that you said you were bummed out that you didn't spend more time together. Can you elaborate what you mean?
Sophie
Sure. Like, I tried to give him some hints about what I want for our first date, and I kind of told him I wanted to do a European style date.
Brooke
Okay. Yeah, we heard that.
Sophie
Oh, he told you that?
Brooke
Yeah, he mentioned that you had brought it up and that it was something you wanted to do. He wasn't 100% sure what you meant by a European date, though.
Sophie
So I tried to, like, give him more hints. Like, I brought up, like, Scandinavian date, Norwegian date. I like, listed those three things and was hoping if he didn't know, maybe he'd Google it. Here's the deal. Like, after college, I traveled a lot.
Co-host 2
Yeah.
Sophie
And I became more used to that style of dating. Are you guys picking up what I'm putting down? Because he Definitely did.
Noah
What's a European style of dating?
Co-host 2
Yeah, what do you mean?
Sophie
So I know this is like on the radio. I don't want to be inappropriate, but when you go on a first date, you're with that person, you hang out at, like, their home or your home, and then you go out and eat.
Co-host 2
You mean more than hang out?
Sophie
Yes. So, like, it's the opposite in America, where you have to, like, play games and have small talk, try to impress each other. But in Norway, you, like, get together, get all of the nerves out, you.
Co-host 2
Test the chemistry right away.
Sophie
Yeah.
Brooke
So it's like a pre agreement, like you come over, let's.
Alexis
Or is this because you were a tourist there, seeing hot guys there, and this is how it went down?
Noah
This is beautiful.
Co-host 2
The Norwegian men are like, no, I swear, this is how we do it.
Sophie
It.
Alexis
What we do.
Co-host 2
Everyone does it.
Brooke
You're saying that's what you were wanting to do by European date?
Sophie
Oh, my God. Yeah. I mean, I thought he knew that's what I wanted, but he just didn't seem interested when he got there. Right.
Co-host 2
When you did say when you said, oh, I'm tired, I need to go to bed. You wanted him to come with you?
Sophie
Yeah.
Co-host 2
Okay. Okay.
Brooke
Interesting.
Co-host 2
Wow. I don't know that.
Noah
That would.
Co-host 2
That did not show up on a Google search.
Brooke
I. I promise you he was not understanding the hints that you were laying down for him. But I was ready for dinner. He really was a European style dinner. But now I assure you, he probably understands because he has been listening to this conversation on the other line waiting to talk to you.
Sophie
Are you joking?
Brooke
No, I'm not on the way to your house right now.
Co-host 2
Why? Are you embarrassed? Wouldn't you want him to know this?
Sophie
Not now. I feel horrible.
Brooke
Well, don't feel terrible. Just talk to him because Noah's there. Right?
Noah
Noah, Hi. Yeah, hi. Yeah, I'm here.
Co-host 2
He's like, biggest missed opportunity of my life.
Noah
Well, hi, Sophie.
Sophie
Hi.
Noah
I'm trying to understand. You wanted to, like, you know, do the thing and then go to dinner.
Co-host 2
His voice got so high.
Sophie
I tried. I really tried giving you the hints, but if you do it that way, the Norwegian way, then all that pent up tension is gone and you can really enjoy each other's company and get to know each other on the date.
Co-host 2
Oh, I am going to be so fascinated by our Norwegian listener feedback on the podcast on this one, actually.
Brooke
That does make a lot of sense if you get all the stress out early and you can just be yourself more when you're hanging out.
Co-host 2
You said that out of anyone.
Brooke
Well, I'm not saying I would do it, but mentally it makes sense to me. Like, you're more relaxed.
Co-host 2
I think a lot of guys would leave after that.
Brooke
Yeah, well.
Noah
Yeah, I'm tired.
Brooke
Noah, what do you think about that?
Noah
Well, I mean, I think it's cool. It's just kind of surprising. I mean. Cause I just had never heard that, you know? But I mean, sure, I'm down for that.
Sophie
Okay, well, that was then. The moment has kind of passed now.
Noah
Oh, no.
Co-host 2
You're not gonna give a guy a chance to learn the Norwegian way.
Sophie
I just don't know if he's as assertive as I want the person I'm dating to be.
Co-host 2
I mean, I think he was trying to be respectful, right? Like, he was trying.
Noah
Yeah, yeah. I didn't want to, like, assume anything. I just. I think you're gorgeous and I just really wanted to do my best to do the right thing. But if you want me to be assertive, I mean, I'm ready to take you to Norway whenever you want.
Co-host 2
Can that be a new sling, please?
Brooke
That's the weirdest offer.
Noah
So bad.
Sophie
I will say, I. I do think it's kind of sweet that even though I didn't really explain it to you, you still got these radio people to contact me and figure it out, and I think that's kind of cool.
Noah
Well, I mean, that is how they do it in Europe.
Co-host 2
Okay? That is not all.
Alexis
Our European listeners are going to be.
Brooke
Like, this is a total insult to our entire continent. Well, Sophie, now that Noah has heard everything and he's fully clued in to what you were for, would you be willing to give him another chance to have a proper European first date with you? Because if you do, we're willing to pay for the date. Just the date, though. Nothing else.
Noah
Look, Sophie, I will do all the research on Norwegian style dating. I will call a Norwegian.
Co-host 2
Is that like, phone a friend?
Noah
I. Yeah, I will phone a friend all. I will make sure that I am prepared and it'll be the best date you've ever had.
Co-host 2
Oh, there's a promise.
Sophie
Okay. That's a lot to live up to. I'm definitely down to try again.
Noah
Dude, you gotta just show up with the bare minimum on. You know what I'm saying? Run to the bedroom right when she.
Brooke
Opens that door, be ready.
Co-host 2
She's got a Norwegian trench coat on.
Brooke
Well, congratulations, Noah. You got yourself, I guess, a first date. First European style date for yourself.
Noah
Thank you, guys. And Sophie, like, Before we get off here, like, should I go on Amazon and buy like a Norwegian flag? Because I'll wear that and only that.
Ad
Just let me know.
Sophie
That's hilarious. I'm open to surprises.
Noah
Right?
Brooke
Ready for a full salute of that flag?
Co-host 2
That's right. Running right up the flagpole.
Brooke
Well, congratulations. Definitely let us know how the first date goes.
Co-host 2
Not all the details though.
Brooke
Yeah, just a video will do. Brooke and Jeffree in the morning Are.
Alexis

Brooke
Brooke, you ever feel like you were born in the wrong country?
Co-host 2
Oh man, I feel like I maybe have done Norwegian dating and not even known it.
Brooke
Yeah, seems more like your style. The calls like this make me feel like, oh, I should have been Scandinavian. I knew it. And by the way, I did google it. I typed in Norway, sex and what.
Noah
A lot of things.
Co-host 2
Do not type that.
Brooke
I wanted to do my research and a lot of things came up. And it did say casual intimacy is more common in Norway than it is in other cultures.
Co-host 2
Is it? Isn't the kind of that whole region up there, they hate small talk.
Alexis
Aren't they also hotter?
Co-host 2
Oh yeah, yeah.
Brooke
I told you I belong in Norway, right? Some people believe that style of dating actually really helps. Not everybody agrees with it though. To each their own. But I feel like Colombia was the big tourist destination for dudes last year. Norway is going to be seeing a big uptick after this goes to air.
Co-host 2
Probably just because they were trying to get hair transferred.

Podcast: Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update
Host: iHeartPodcasts
In this episode of "Second Date Update," the hosts help Noah, a listener confused after his first date with Sophie ended abruptly after just 15 minutes at her apartment. Noah thought things went off track because he misunderstood Sophie's request for a "European date," and he hasn't heard from her since. With plenty of humor and curiosity, Brooke and the team dive into the mystery, eventually calling Sophie live on the air to get her side of the story. The result is one of the most surprising and enlightening "dating miscommunication" stories the show has ever aired.
Noah’s Initial Excitement:
Noah describes matching with Sophie on a dating app, being very attracted to her adventurous, well-traveled vibe, and wanting to impress her by following her lead for a “European date.”
(05:03-06:24)
What is a European Date?:
Sophie drops the term "European date," mentions Scandinavia and Norway, and hopes Noah gets the hint.
Noah admits he wasn't sure if she meant a certain cuisine, restaurant, or something else.
(06:24-07:19)
"She said she wanted to go on a European date. ...It was kind of a weird thing, right?" — Noah (06:24)
Planning Paralysis:
Noah tries to cover his bases with multiple restaurant reservations and even worries if he should rent a European car, showing how nervous he is to impress Sophie.
(07:36-07:54)
Awkward Arrival:
When Noah arrives to pick Sophie up, she’s suddenly noncommittal and says she’s tired, basically canceling the night.
(08:08-08:56)
"She had confirmed a half hour before this, and she said she was like ready to go to bed and you're like, a night's over." — Noah (08:37)
Self-Doubt:
Noah is left with questions — did he misrepresent himself, was it his looks, or did he completely misread her cues?
(09:01-09:12)
Ghosted:
Sophie goes silent after Noah leaves, prompting him to reach out to the show. He wants closure before moving on, even admitting being motivated in part by Sophie's attractiveness.
(09:47-10:54, 11:51)
Sophie’s Perspective:
Sophie says she gave multiple hints and references to Scandinavian/Norwegian dating customs, expecting Noah to pick up on her meaning — a more direct, “intimate first, dinner second” approach.
(14:05-14:44)
“After college, I traveled a lot. […] When you go on a first date, you hang out at their home or your home, and then you go out and eat.” — Sophie (14:35-15:00)
The Norwegian Way:
Sophie describes how, in her travel experience, dating starts with hanging out at home (implying physical intimacy), then going out to eat after getting rid of first-date tension.
(15:00-15:21)
The Missed Signal:
Sophie says that when she told Noah she was tired and going to bed, she was hoping he would join her. Noah, however, was focused on being respectful and didn’t pick up on the cue.
(15:48-15:54)
“You wanted him to come with you?” — Co-host 2 (15:48)
“Yeah.” — Sophie (15:54)
Noah’s Realization:
Noah admits he had no idea what Sophie was implying and wishes he'd known; he also jokes about now knowing "the Norwegian way."
(16:41-17:48)
"You wanted to, like, you know, do the thing and then go to dinner?" — Noah (16:49)
Will They Try Again?
Sophie is unsure if she wants a second chance, saying assertiveness is a turn-on for her. The hosts debate whether Noah's respectfulness counted against him in this scenario.
(17:58-18:18)
Final Offer:
Noah pledges to "do all the research on Norwegian style dating," even suggesting humorously that he'll show up "with the bare minimum" and offers to wear "a Norwegian flag and only that." Sophie laughs and agrees to try again, saying she's "open to surprises."
(19:11-20:07)
“Should I go on Amazon and buy like a Norwegian flag? Because I'll wear that and only that.” — Noah (19:56)
Brooke and Jeffrey's Take:
The hosts applaud the happy ending, laugh at the cultural misunderstanding, and anticipate a surge in Norway tourism by American hopefuls.
(22:15-23:14)
"To each their own. But I feel like Colombia was the big tourist destination for dudes last year. Norway is going to be seeing a big uptick after this goes to air." — Brooke (23:12)
On Miscommunication:
“I just rolled the dice… I just figured I’d let her pick.” — Noah (07:12)
On Being Respectful vs. Assertive:
“I didn’t want to, like, assume anything. I just. I think you’re gorgeous and I just really wanted to do my best to do the right thing. But if you want me to be assertive, I mean, I’m ready to take you to Norway whenever you want.” — Noah (18:08)
On Cultural Mating Practices:
“When you go on a first date, you hang out at their home or your home, and then you go out and eat. […] Test the chemistry right away.” — Sophie (15:00, 15:19)
Humorous Reaction:
"I think Noah deserves to at least get me some answers out of this, right, Brooke?" — Co-host 2 (11:35)
“Should I go on Amazon and buy like a Norwegian flag? Because I'll wear that and only that.” — Noah (19:56)
"Just a video will do." — Brooke (20:24)
International Curiosity:
"I'm going to be so fascinated by our Norwegian listener feedback on the podcast on this one, actually." — Co-host 2 (17:12)
This episode stands out for its entertaining culture-clash: a typically American “respectful” first date versus a more direct, Norwegian-inspired approach to intimacy. The miscommunication leads to relatable awkwardness, lots of laughs, and ultimately a new understanding for both Noah and Sophie, plus a second chance at romance. Along the way, the hosts riff on dating traditions, international customs, and their own experiences—creating a fun, insightful look at the pitfalls (and possibilities) of modern dating.
