All right, you're gonna start your week with a second date. We love that. Thank you so much for being here and love all of the comments still coming in about our great merch for a cause. Of course. Second date update. What would you Call it swag addition. Yeah. Yeah. Ken's wrote on our second date page. I am totally gonna ask for a hoodie for my birthday. They're so cute. Love this podcast, which. Thank you. Thank you again. If you want the show merch, 100% of proceeds go to LA Wildfire relief efforts. Thanks to Convoy of Hope. We're not making any money from it. It's all for a good cause. So the link to that merch is in the show notes. And today we got a little special second date, don't we? Yeah, it's the first time we've ever done this. Yeah, it's the re Date. Yes. So sit back and enjoy second date update.
Brooke
Out of all the second dates we've done.
Alexis
Yeah.
Brooke
I mean, we're talking hundreds, thousands even.
Alexis
I think tens of thousands.
Brooke
Yeah, possibly.
Alexis
I mean, seriously.
Brooke
I know every once in a while I say this is a first.
Alexis
Oh, yeah.
Brooke
But this one really is.
Alexis
Oh, you don't mean it the other times. Like, what does that mean?
Brooke
No, I mean, I mean it those other times, but this time I really mean it.
Alexis
I don't believe you.
Brooke
Because we have a return caller. His name is Zach. And you might remember he was on the show a while back, told us about his mobile bartending business that he does for parties and events and stuff.
Alexis
And he made pretty good money doing it.
Brooke
Exactly. Last time that he was on, he wanted us to call a woman named Bethany that he had met at one of those parties. Well, now he's back, and he wants us to call that same woman Bethany again. Again?
Alexis
What?
Mark Seal
But she knows us now.
Alexis
Dude, how did the last time go that we called her?
Brooke
I don't think it went well. Zach, are you okay? Did you hit your head? Cause we already did this. And she turned you down, right?
Alexis
Is that what happened?
Zach
Well, I just ran into her again, and we actually went on another first date.
Alexis
Oh, that would be a second date.
Brooke
Zach, if you go on. If you go out with the same girl two times, that's considered two separate dates.
Mark Seal
I do like two first dates, though.
Alexis
She said no to you on our radio show, and then you ran into her in person, and then she said yes.
Mark Seal
Yeah.
Zach
Yeah. Well, it was like a few months in between when we did that.
Brooke
Yeah, I didn't realize there's, like, a statute of limitations, you know, where after a certain point it, like, cancels. It resets.
Alexis
Well, it's probably just she had a lot of bad experiences in that couple of months, so she's like, I guess I'll try that guy okay, but for.
Brooke
Those of our listeners who don't know what happened the last time or who might not remember Bethany, could you jog our memory just a little bit?
Zach
Yeah, man. I met her while I was bartending a joint bachelor slash bachelorette backyard party. And she was just one of the guests.
Brooke
Okay, Right.
Alexis
And why did she not like you? Is that a bad. She said no. Right? Yeah. Yeah.
Mark Seal
He can recap.
Brooke
Yeah. What happened the first time?
Zach
Well, she said that I basically talked about myself too much and my business too much.
Alexis
Right.
Mark Seal
That's right.
Brooke
So it didn't work out the last time you were on the show, but now you're saying you ran into her again recently? Yeah. What happened in the second meetup?
Zach
Well, it's kind of funny, because I was bartending another bachelorette party.
Alexis
Oh, really?
Zach
She was at that one, too?
Alexis
Oh, my God. This is like, Alexis, how many times is this woman gonna be in a wedding?
Zach
I guess a lot of her friends are getting married right now, so she's bouncing from wedding to wedding.
Alexis
It tends to happen that way.
Brooke
Okay, so what happened when you and Bethany saw each other at this new bachelorette party?
Mark Seal
I know you.
Alexis
Was it that friendly? I'd be shocked.
Zach
First there was that deer in the headlights where we both just kind of locked eyes and froze for a second.
Brooke
How did the interaction go?
Zach
Well, I didn't open up very well. I started with, you know, hey, it's funny that a lot of your friends are getting snatched up and you're still single.
Alexis
Oh, that's a really good. Wow.
Brooke
You said that to her?
Alexis
I don't know. I think she may like it.
Zach
Yeah, I tried to stop it as it was coming out, but it didn't work. Oh, my gosh.
Alexis
What did you say back?
Zach
Well, she said something like, well, there you have it. That's why I didn't want another date with you. Oh, wow.
Brooke
Ah, yeah.
Mark Seal
Just reconfirming.
Brooke
Well, the sparks are just flying between you two right now.
Alexis
The romance.
Mark Seal
Brooke is right. Girls love being a little bit of mean. So you did get a date. How did you pivot?
Zach
Well, it wasn't really a date officially. It was like, we were hanging out at the bachelorette party while I was on break, and then we were hanging out in this garden area, and we actually kind of made out a little bit.
Brooke
Wait, what?
Alexis
Did you not have to work? Yes. It's his own business, Alexis. He makes his own. I'm like, did the bar close halfway through the party?
Brooke
Just open 20 beers and leave them on the counter. You got A make out.
Zach
I did. I got a make out.
Brooke
Well, okay. Of course she did, because she'd been drinking and you pointed out how lonely she is. So she felt the need to prove you wrong. Probably.
Alexis
Was it like, super drunk make out or did you guys actually connect?
Brooke
Yeah. Go into the details for Brooke. How much time?
Mark Seal
What button did you unbutton?
Brooke
Top or bottom?
Alexis
I wouldn't. I wouldn't interpret a drunk make out as she's. Someone's interested in me.
Brooke
That's true.
Alexis
She could just be like, especially any wedding scenario. And after they've turned me down.
Zach
Yeah, I beg to differ. I think she was definitely interested.
Alexis
Okay, what gave you those vibes?
Brooke
Probably the makeout.
Zach
Yeah, I mean, it just seemed like there were sparks flying because she didn't pull back. She seemed to be into it, and I was certainly into it.
Alexis
Okay.
Brooke
All right.
Alexis
Okay. But now you're here. Yeah.
Brooke
So you're saying that she's not responding to you after your second bachelorette party make out?
Zach
That's correct. We're back at the square one.
Alexis
Back at square man. Dude, I am just dying to talk to her because she is going to be like, what? You are calling me again?
Cheekies
She's going to know.
Alexis
Yeah, she's going to know.
Brooke
Yeah. And that's what's funny. That's what makes this an actual first. We have two of the exact same people that are being called on the second date update and hoping that the second time goes better than the first. What do we do?
Mark Seal
Just go. Okay. Remember last time?
Brooke
Have you reconsidered?
Alexis
Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah.
Mark Seal
Okay.
Brooke
Bye.
Alexis
Could you answer differently?
Brooke
Yeah.
Alexis
I mean, what's the strategy here?
Mark Seal
I want to. We should get her to talk about this last date and what her impression was. Right?
Brooke
Yeah. I mean, we'll just see if she even answers because she has our number two from the last time that we called.
Alexis
Yeah, I doubt anyone saves it.
Brooke
We're gonna find out. We're going for the very first time. A second date update. Redo.
Mark Seal
Will she answer?
Brooke
Is she. Is this gonna work out? It's coming up. We'll make that call right after this second date update. The great Yogi Berra once said, I'm getting deja vu all over again. And I think that's what I'm feeling right now.
Alexis
Who was Yogi Bear? Was it, like a sports guy?
Brooke
He was a. Hey, Boo Boo. How you doing?
Alexis
That's Yogi Bear.
Mark Seal
Oh, that's a cartoon, I think.
Alexis
Like, yeah. Baseball player. Right?
Brooke
You guys are so embarrassing to work with. You don't know anything. Look, the thing is, I'm having that deja vu feeling because we're having the exact same two second daters back on again. So you'd think the title of this would be Third Date Update, but not according to our listener Zach.
Alexis
I thought we could call it Groundhog's Day. Oh, Yogi Berra.
Brooke
Maybe.
Alexis
Yogi Berra. No one's gonna understand that.
Brooke
If you remember Zach, he's a mobile bartender who met a woman named Bethany at a joint bachelor bachelorette party. He was working. Bethany said no to us the first time that we called her.
Alexis
Yeah, I mean, very clearly.
Brooke
But fast forward months later, they meet again at a different bachelorette party, end up making out, and now she's not texting him back.
Alexis
Okay, there's no date in any of this story. Let's remember that.
Brooke
Making out is pretty close.
Alexis
No. Jazz, do you know how many dudes I made out with that I didn't even know their names?
Brooke
Like, it's interesting the things that you choose to brag about. I know.
Alexis
Bragging. I'm just saying, like, that's not real life, what you're saying.
Brooke
I wonder how Bethany is going to feel when we call her. And if she answers, she hears our voices again. Like, Zach, doesn't this feel weird to you at all? You seem so calm.
Zach
A little bit. I mean, come on. Things happen for a reason. And the fact that we ran into each other again just kind of sparked it for me. Like, you know, maybe there is something here and maybe fate stepping in.
Brooke
Oh, that's nice.
Alexis
I think that's a good way to interpret it. And if not, you're a chill guy.
Brooke
Like, and Brooke makes out with chill guys all the time without knowing their names.
Alexis
I'll make up with uptight guy. Whatever guy. I mean, I'm married now, so I can't. But before.
Mark Seal
He's also a chill guy, though.
Brooke
We'll see. Let's just call her. We'll see if she picks up. Here we go.
Alexis
Hi.
Bethany
Hello.
Brooke
Hi. Is this Bethany?
Alexis
So awkward for us, it is. Hi, friend.
Brooke
Bethany, it's your favorite morning show.
Alexis
Remember us?
Brooke
Brooke and Jeff.
Bethany
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Alexis
It's good.
Mark Seal
Bethany.
Alexis
It's like a horror movie. Maybe we should just start to ask for. For a review of how the first time.
Bethany
I mean, it's not you. It's not you, it's me.
Alexis
Welcome back to the show, Bethany.
Bethany
No, no, Bethany.
Brooke
Bethany.
Bethany
Bethany.
Alexis
We've been here.
Bethany
We've done this. I'm. I'm good.
Alexis
We're good.
Brooke
No, Bethany, you don't. You have no idea what we're even calling about.
Bethany
No, I do. I do. You know I do. Don't make me do this again.
Brooke
Bethany, look, I. I hear you. I really want to respect your wishes, but we have a job to do on this show. Certain strapping hunk of a man who was doing his job serving you drinks recently at a bachelorette party.
Bethany
You know, Zach, I've been trying to forget.
Alexis
Yes, we heard the second time was.
Mark Seal
Way smoother than the first.
Bethany
Guys, it was a mistake. It was.
Alexis
Wait, are you about. Was it the makeout session was a mistake?
Bethany
Yeah, obviously.
Brooke
Are you sure? Because it is interesting that the two of you keep randomly running into each other when you're at your most vulnerable. Bethany.
Bethany
Yeah, all of my friends keep getting married and apparently only know one bartender.
Alexis
Were you shocked? Like, what were you thinking the first moment you saw Zach?
Bethany
That I need to talk to the maid of honor at the next party. I'm going to show this doesn't happen again.
Alexis
Come on.
Brooke
Who are booking for the bar?
Alexis
Wasn't there, like, just a little bit of you that was excited to see him?
Bethany
I mean, I guess a little bit, because I did end up making out with him, but it was like the tiniest. I mean, the teeniest. The tiniest.
Brooke
Okay, well, we want to talk to that teeny, tiny little part of you.
Mark Seal
Yeah, get her on the phone and.
Brooke
Reintroduce that tiny part of you to Zach, who you know is already listening and desperately wants to talk to you.
Bethany
Oh, my God. I forgot that was how it works.
Mark Seal
Zach?
Brooke
Zach, you there?
Zach
Yeah. Here we are back again.
Bethany
What are you doing? I told you that that was a one time mistake.
Brooke
You said that.
Zach
You said it was a good mistake, though, so I took that so hard.
Bethany
I just remember saying it was a mistake. I mean, honestly, I made out with a lot of guys that night, so I wouldn't say that it was like that.
Zach
I was probably the last guy you made out with, so, you know, I must be the ringer. Does that count?
Brooke
The ringer?
Alexis
Is that the part of the lineup you want to be in?
Zach
I figured you were kind and, I mean, you trusted me to call you an Uber where you didn't trust anyone else to call one for you.
Brooke
Oh, see, that's true.
Bethany
Because you were the one serving all of us drink. Everyone else was drinking.
Brooke
I mean, Bethany, what we were just talking about before we called you is stuff like fate and destiny. Things happen for a reason.
Alexis
Oh, no, that's a little Thick Jeff. Or that it was just being drunk at weddings? Yeah, I mean, I would think that you keep running into each other. There's a tiny bit of you that's obviously attracted to him. Why not go on one real date just to give it a shot? What's the worst that could happen? I mean, you've already drunkenly made out with him. I mean.
Bethany
I mean, actually did that twice. But there is a big difference between drunkenly making out with somebody and then dating the bartender.
Alexis
Dating on the one date. We're just asking for one date. That's it. One chance. One.
Mark Seal
Come on. You know he's a good kisser.
Alexis
Oh, yeah, good point. We didn't ask her that.
Brooke
I mean, Zack, you're the one who has been calling us all these times, wanting to connect with her. I'll give you 20 seconds here to say your piece. Convince Bethany to meet up with you one more time.
Zach
Okay, you know what? If dating a successful mobile bartender isn't really a dream come true for you, I do have bigger goals than that.
Alexis
Oh.
Brooke
Oh.
Zach
I also want integrate mobile karaoke with it as well.
Brooke
That's actually smart playing.
Alexis
It's much better than the sober karaoke mobile dj.
Zach
Right? You can come get your confidence from me and then go ahead and sing your song right after.
Mark Seal
Dude, all you need is a bed situation. And you kind of have a mobile home at this point.
Brooke
Yeah.
Mark Seal
Come party, have a drink and lay down.
Brooke
Is that a selling point for you, Bethany? I'm not really sure.
Zach
One thing you probably don't know about is that, you know, I was basically raised in a trailer, and for my ninth birthday, I got a microphone in a boombox and I used it. I kind of have a natural sound in my voice as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it wooed you just hearing it.
Brooke
Oh, really?
Alexis
I want to woo. Your singing voice is really good.
Brooke
Are we gonna hear a serenade?
Zach
Yeah.
Mark Seal
Get to wooing, bro.
Brooke
Oh, wow. Go for it.
Zach
You've lost that loving feeling.
Brooke
Oh, whoa.
Zach
That loving feeling.
Brooke
All right. Okay.
Alexis
He sounds so fun. Go on one date. Come on.
Brooke
And we'll pay for it. Remember, Bethany, if you say yes, the date's on us. It won't be a wedding.
Alexis
Come on, do it for the plot.
Bethany
I can't. I'm not saying that like I never want to see you again, but I am going to ask if you are bartending at a bachelorette party for a girl named Sienna next month. Because if you are, I'm going to have to change my rsvp.
Mark Seal
Do it for Sienna.
Alexis
He's a romantic at heart. What a guy.
Zach
I am. And it looks solid, so there's a good chance you'll see me there.
Alexis
That book's solid, Zach.
Brooke
You're her kryptonite. Every time that she's around you, she goes weak.
Alexis
Oh.
Bethany
I mean, I don't know if it's him or the mojito, but he may.
Brooke
Serve a strong drink. It's the perfect combo. It's all leading you towards Zach. So it might be a no from you now, Bethany, but it could be possible next month at Sienna's bachelorette party.
Mark Seal
Third make out sess.
Alexis
I say third time on this show, call back. Yeah, it's gonna be like 50 first dates all over again.
Mark Seal
Finally, the sixth time, she goes, I'll go out with you.
Brooke
We will call you 100 times until you agree.
Alexis
Just cr. She's laughing, not crying. Right.
Zach
Well, you know, I think fate will lend a hand and do its thing. And I've got a good feeling we'll see each other next month.
Brooke
Oh, my gosh. Get your Uber app open, Bethany. He's gonna dial it for you. Oh, my God, look at Jeffrey in the morning. So, yeah, when it comes to Bethany and Zach, we are O for two.
Alexis
I really thought we were gonna get her right there. I thought that she was like, okay, I'll give him a chance.
Mark Seal
She's coming around. She's admitted. Yeah, he's pretty good kisser.
Alexis
Y.
Mark Seal
When I'm drunk, I guess. But we're gonna get her. Third time.
Brooke
That's the thing. Over two is not three strikes. You're out. Zach is still in this game for a couple more swings.
Mark Seal
He just has to, like, run into her again.
Alexis
I. Guys, I think we're done. No, don't quit. No. Brooke, are you with me?
Brooke
Brooke, I was so proud of you during this segment.
Alexis
I gave him my dad.
Brooke
I really thought in part one, you were not very on board with Zach trying again after the rejection. I think you called him sad and.
Alexis
Desperate, but did not say that.
Brooke
Something like that. But by the end, you were really on board with Zach pulling for him.
Alexis
I think he's a sweet guy. I do. I just think.
Brooke
Just stop there.
Alexis
Okay.
Brooke
You know, don't need to say anymore. Brooke, you are my MVP of today's phone call. Even if it did end in total utter failure. You could take the MVP on this one.
Alexis
Okay, I guess. You're welcome.
Mark Seal
Good work, bro.
Brooke
And remember, Brooke can be the MVP for you if you email the show. We'll call that person who's not calling you back no matter how many times you've run out to them and they've said no.
Alexis
I'd like to say after twice, we're just gonna call it no.
Brooke
Yeah, no negative attitudes here. And you won't any negative attitudes on our podcast either. You'll find them wherever you get yours at Brooke and Jeffrey.

Podcast Summary: Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update – First Date Redate
Introduction and Show Context In the March 3, 2025 episode of "Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update" hosted by Brooke and Jeffrey on iHeartPodcasts, listeners are taken on a heartfelt and entertaining journey to explore the complexities of second chances in dating. The show’s primary mission is to reach out to individuals who experienced ghosting after a first date, uncover the real reasons behind the silence, and facilitate the possibility of securing a second date. As highlighted in the podcast description, the approach boasts a "low success rate...high entertainment for the rest of us," ensuring both drama and amusement for the audience.
Supporting a Good Cause and Special Edition Announcement The episode kicks off with Alexis expressing gratitude towards listeners for their ongoing support and the positive feedback on the show’s merchandise. She mentions, “Thank you so much for being here and love all of the comments still coming in about our great merch for a cause” (02:08). This merchandise initiative is particularly notable as “100% of proceeds go to LA Wildfire relief efforts” through Convoy of Hope, emphasizing the show's commitment to philanthropy.
To commemorate the episode, Brooke and Alexis announce a special edition: the "Redate" segment. Brooke quips, “It's the re Date. Yes. So sit back and enjoy second date update” (02:57), signaling a unique twist in their usual format.
Introducing Zach and Bethany's Story The focal point of this episode revolves around Zach, a recurring caller who previously shared his experience of meeting Bethany during one of his mobile bartending gigs at a backyard bachelor/bachelorette party. In the past, Bethany declined his advances, citing that "I basically talked about myself too much and my business too much" (05:05). Undeterred, Zach found himself reconnecting with Bethany at a subsequent event, leading to an unexpected development.
The Second Encounter: Sparks and Setbacks At a different bachelorette party where Zach was once again bartending, he and Bethany experienced a rekindling of their connection. Brooke inquires, “What happened when you and Bethany saw each other at this new bachelorette party?” (05:47), to which Zach responds that there was an immediate and intense spark: “First there was that deer in the headlights where we both just kind of locked eyes and froze for a second” (05:56). This encounter culminated in a brief make-out session, leaving both parties intrigued and conflicted.
However, despite this chemistry, Zach finds himself facing the same predicament as before—Bethany has gone quiet after their second meeting. Alexis laments, “So you're saying that she's not responding to you after your second bachelorette party make out?” (07:51), highlighting the recurring challenges of dating and ghosting.
Podcast Intervention: Calling Bethany Determined to understand Bethany's perspective and possibly rekindle their connection, Brooke and Alexis decide to reach out directly. Brooke explains, “We are having the exact same two second daters back on again” (08:11), setting the stage for a unique intervention.
The hosts initiate the call with nervous anticipation. Alexis nervously greets Bethany, “Hi, friend” (11:19), which leads to an awkward and brief exchange. Bethany is hesitant and clearly uncomfortable, repeatedly emphasizing, “No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no” (11:26) and “I’m good” (11:53).
Bethany's Response and Zach's Appeal During the conversation, Bethany admits to the make-out session but insists it was a “mistake” (12:25). Alexis attempts to probe further, suggesting, “You could just go on one real date just to give it a shot” (14:58), to which Zach steps in to plead his case. He shares his passion and future ambitions, “I also want to integrate mobile karaoke with it as well” (15:34), showcasing his creative and romantic side.
Despite Zach’s heartfelt efforts, Bethany remains non-committal. She offers a glimmer of hope by mentioning a potential meeting at a future bachelorette party: “I am going to ask if you are bartending at a bachelorette party for a girl named Sienna next month” (16:57). This leaves the door slightly ajar but doesn’t guarantee an immediate reconciliation.
Hosts' Reflections and Conclusion Throughout the episode, Brooke and Alexis provide commentary and support, reflecting on the emotional dynamics at play. Brooke encourages Zach’s persistence, stating, “You are the MVP of today's phone call. Even if it did end in total utter failure” (19:10), highlighting the show's empathetic approach.
In wrapping up, the hosts acknowledge the unpredictability of relationships and the importance of not losing hope. Mark Seal adds humor, “When I'm drunk, I guess. But we're gonna get her. Third time” (18:35), underscoring the ongoing effort to help listeners navigate love and rejection.
Notable Quotes:
Conclusion The episode "Second Date Update: First Date Redate" masterfully blends humor, empathy, and real-life dating struggles to engage listeners. By facilitating direct communication between Zach and Bethany, Brooke and Jeffrey provide a platform for vulnerability and potential reconciliation. While the outcome remains uncertain, the episode serves as a testament to the complexities of modern dating and the enduring hope for second chances.
