All right, starting your week with a brand new second date podcast. Thank you so much for being here. It's Brooke and Jeffrey. Please, like subscribe, comment, do all the things because we love it. Before we start today's we do have to put a disclaimer that we do not approve of this woman's actions.
Ryan
Totally. We can't control the people.
Brooke
Yeah. Thank you. That's a great way to say it. You're See what we mean?
Ryan
Yeah.
Brooke
You're going to understand real quick, I'll tell you that. We sure did. But before we get to this brand new podcast, what are Our comments? C Gera3 said Jeffrey's intros are unmatched. He can make the most uninteresting situations into a five star story for sure. Thanks for leaving your comments and let's get this podcast started.
Ryan
Second date update. Everybody always says, gosh, I wish I could meet someone in real life. Yes, but really, do you actually want that?
Brooke
Why wouldn't you?
Ryan
It sounds so scary. There's no block button in real life.
Brooke
That's a good point. You can't Google search. They're standing right in front of you. You can't work with your friends to send a message.
Ryan
Yeah. Or forward the rest of your conversation to voicemail. You're out there on an island all by yourself. That would be awesome if your friends were in the other room, though.
Brooke
Yeah.
Ryan
Yeah. You're like, what did you just say? Hold on, I'll be right back.
Brooke
Yeah, you have to go tell them.
Ryan
You could ask Siri for like a flirty compliment to give to them, but it is kind of awkward when they're sitting right in front of you. So nobody knows that better. Like our listener Stacy, who, according to her email, says she met a guy out in the real world.
Brooke
Was it frightening, Stacy? Were you so sc. No.
Ryan
Okay, well, thanks for being on the show with us today. Stacey, tell us about this guy you met.
Stacy
Well, basically I was going to get a coffee and it was full and there was only one chair open.
Brooke
Yeah.
Stacy
When I went to sit in the chair. I mean, it sounds like cliche, like I'm making it up, but it really happened. Like this guy went at the same time.
Brooke
Oh, oh. And he was a hot guy, huh?
Stacy
Very hot. I thought my prayers had been answered. I thought the universe heard me. Because I couldn't believe it. We were both, like, literally. We decided to share the chair. He was that cool. We were sitting.
Brooke
You did sit on his lap then. Is that what you're saying now?
Stacy
We shared the chair next to each. Hips next to each other.
Ryan
Two butts, one chair. I've seen that video.
Brooke
Yeah.
Ryan
Okay.
Stacy
Cheek to cheek.
Brooke
Did you discuss it, or was this just a silent agreement? Like, how did you introduce yourself?
Stacy
Well, I don't know how it happened. It just was so natural. We started talking, and then I just honestly wanted to read my book, so I just pulled out my book, Catcher in the Rye. And then he turned to me and he said, I read that book. I love it.
Ryan
Yeah, I feel like we all read that in high school. Yeah, it was required reading. Like, you had to do it in order to pass.
Brooke
Really? I read it for fun and on my own.
Ryan
Oh, really?
Brooke
I don't think I read that one.
Ryan
Oh, we had to. It explains a lot about Brooke. Yeah. By the way, did you catch his name at any point during this conversation? Conversation?
Stacy
Yes, his name was Tyler.
Brooke
Okay, okay. And I bet he was impressed with you. You're reading, like, a literary classic instead of some, like, smut romance, which is. Oh, was that an insult? Alexis. Just saying there's, like, a big, muscular.
Ryan
Guy on the front.
Brooke
Stand up for all the sjm. Okay, I'm with you.
Ryan
Is that something that is a turn on to you out in the world? If you see a woman reading, like, a really fancy book, you're like, oh, yeah, hot. After you said, see a woman. Oh, sorry.
Tyler
Okay.
Ryan
Immediately. No, if a girl's reading a book, that is good. You want a little bit of intellect. Right? I'm dumb, so I need her to be a little smart so we can balance.
Brooke
Okay.
Ryan
All right. So you guys are sitting there at the coffee table, two butts, one chair. And what happens?
Stacy
And then he suddenly, he's like, hey, I have to go for my workout.
Brooke
Oh, he's telling you where he's going. I always feel like that's kind of a I want to see you again or an invite or something.
Ryan
That's smart. Yeah. Like when I say I have to go to the bathroom, that's like an invite to let you know, going to be and you can think about me.
Brooke
Well, I mean, why would he tell a complete stranger where he's going? You know what I mean?
Ryan
Why wouldn't he tell her where he's going? Well, he won't turn over, like. No, I honestly have an appointment or something.
Stacy
Yeah, he's just said, hey, it was nice meeting you. I have to head to my workout.
Brooke
Oh.
Stacy
It means he's in shape. It's sexy.
Brooke
I know, but how did you get his phone number? Like, it sounds like that's the end. Like he doesn't, you know.
Stacy
No, I said, oh, wow, I. No wonder you're in such great shape. I love to work out too. And then he invited me. He said, really? You know I do power yoga. And I said, oh, my gosh, not a lot of guys do that.
Ryan
What's power yoga? Will I find out soon?
Brooke
It doesn't matter.
Ryan
Okay.
Brooke
I mean, so wait, so you went to his workout with him?
Stacy
Uh huh.
Brooke
Oh, you were ready on the spot to work out. Don't lie. You never go to a coffee shop without wearing yoga pants.
Stacy
I mean, you know, I had him. No, I had him in my bag.
Ryan
Okay, you guys are working out together. That seems a little bit more intimate. How did that go? Let's get out of here and pump out.
Stacy
It went great. I mean, it wasn't that intimate. It was just a class, so I just jumped in.
Brooke
Okay. Did you guys get spots next to each other?
Stacy
Yeah, but we were just doing yoga. I mean, I mean, you can't talk.
Brooke
But I love the bonding. When you bring a friend in, you make the eye contact, like, oh, this pose is hard. You know, when you like, give each other the look.
Ryan
Okay, they were making out the whole class. Let's just assume that across the room, I guess.
Brooke
So far. This sounds so friendly, you know?
Ryan
Yeah.
Brooke
When do we get to the romance?
Ryan
Is there a big romantic moment at the end of this?
Stacy
Well, like, I got his number and he took my number.
Brooke
Was there a talk of a date?
Ryan
Are you his workout buddy?
Stacy
Well, he talked about getting together again.
Ryan
So no matter what. That's good. Maybe, but it could just be like, to talk about Catcher in the Rye and like, discuss plot points and stuff. Boring. When you say that. I don't know. For Brooke, that could be really sexy.
Brooke
I would enjoy it.
Ryan
She did do it for fun.
Brooke
As long as they're trendy. Yeah, as long as there's wine involved.
Ryan
Okay, so what's happened since you guys said goodbye to each other?
Stacy
Well, we basically texted, I'd say back and forth about three times and it was going really good as a start. Super easy texting back and forth. Sounded like we were going towards setting something up and I haven't heard from him since.
Ryan
Okay, well, sometimes these things are out of your hands. Like something else could have happened in his life and so what do I do?
Brooke
Well, we call him.
Ryan
Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah.
Ryan
And then reach out to us for help. That was a smart move. We're going to try and call this guy Tyler. We'll see if he picks up the phone, and hopefully he has an answer for why he's not setting up a second meetup for the two of you. I hope he's not in the middle of power yoga. We are going to embarrass him.
Brooke
He will bring it in the studio.
Ryan
You're right.
Brooke
No pockets in power pants. Okay, we're good.
Ryan
All right, we'll do it right after this. Hold on. Second date update. What else do you need for a steamy first date besides hot coffee, power yoga and Catcher in the Rye?
Brooke
God, I'm sweaty just thinking about it.
Ryan
Hardcover, first edition. Oh, you studious stud.
Brooke
Honestly, that would be worth so much money if you had that.
Ryan
Oh, my God. Actually, yeah. That's the impromptu date that our listener Stacy went on recently after randomly meeting a guy named Tyler at a coffee shop. And even though they worked out together and seemed to have a lot in common, there didn't seem to be a ton of romantic chemistry happening. So, like Jose was saying, it's possible that Tyler sees you more as a workout study buddy, but we don't know. That's the whole reason that we're about to call him here.
Brooke
And even if that's the case, then maybe we can help turn his mind into a more romantic thing. I mean, sometimes, especially with guys, they just don't see see it unless it, like, slaps him in the face, you know?
Ryan
Brooke is ready to slap Tyler right across the face till he sees the sexy side of Stacy.
Brooke
I meant figuratively.
Ryan
Yeah, but physically, too, if it comes to Stacy. Are you cool with that? Do you condone that?
Stacy
Yeah, I just really don't meet people in real life.
Ryan
Okay.
Brooke
That's a common sentiment. I mean, romantically, right?
Stacy
Right.
Ryan
I mean, you're probably in most people. Yeah, that's just how it is. I'll bring that up to Tyler, too. That's a good point. You don't meet people like this every day, so he shouldn't let it pass him by.
Stacy
He really shouldn't let this pass him by.
Brooke
Yeah, there we go. That's the confidence we need, Stacy going into this.
Ryan
Okay, first, let's see if he picks up because I'm dialing his number right now.
Brooke
Okay. Flirty.
Tyler
Hello?
Ryan
Hey, is this Tyler?
Tyler
Yes.
Ryan
Hey, ma' am. How you doing today? You're on a radio show right now called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Brooke
Welcome to the show. Tyler.
Ryan
What up, man? Good morning.
Tyler
Okay, I'm on the radio right now.
Ryan
Yeah, yeah. Well, yeah. Okay, say hi to millions of people.
Tyler
What is this about?
Ryan
We wanted you to do all the shout outs for the day on the show. Yeah. So we'll get to that in a second. Will you shout out my second cousin, Carlos?
Brooke
We have a lot of that coach that want their names. Oh, yeah.
Ryan
Okay, let's not do this then. We have a great voice for it. Before we get to that, we want to talk to you a little bit about your dating life in a segment that we do called Second Date Update.
Tyler
Mine.
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah, you've been dating, right?
Brooke
Well, this isn't really a date. Like, this may be kind of, you know, you may not categorize it that way.
Ryan
We're not sure if you felt like it was a romantic hangout, but you met a woman recently named Stacy at a coffee shop.
Tyler
Yeah, yeah, the girl with a book, right?
Brooke
Yes, that's it. That you shared a chair with.
Ryan
Catch her in the ride. So we heard about you guys, like, meeting up and you had coffee, did a little workout afterwards, right?
Tyler
Yeah, I remember her.
Brooke
Okay. I mean, what'd you think about her? She cute?
Tyler
Yeah, she's a beautiful girl. Yeah.
Ryan
Oh, okay, good.
Brooke
That's a start.
Ryan
Stacy told us that after you guys met up, you were texting about possibly hanging out a second time, but nothing happened.
Tyler
Right.
Ryan
She's just not sure where your head's at.
Tyler
Okay. And you want. You want me to tell you on the air?
Ryan
It'd be a lot better than off the air for all the listeners use the phone and we're just gonna listen.
Stacy
Okay.
Ryan
I'm just kidding. If that's okay with you.
Brooke
Yeah.
Tyler
All right, well, yeah, there's a reason. Okay, so we were texting back and forth and scheduling a first real date.
Brooke
Yeah, she said that.
Tyler
And so I was suggesting we get together the following weekend and she comes back with, yeah, that's great. I'm excited. But we can't do Friday. Cause it's your birthday.
Brooke
Huh? Hey.
Ryan
Okay.
Brooke
Does she mean her birthday? How would she know your birthday?
Ryan
Yeah, that is true.
Brooke
Or maybe it came up when you guys were talking at coffee.
Ryan
Did you mention that to her?
Tyler
No, I never did. And I was racking my brain to see if I could figure out where she would have learned my birthday. The yoga studio would never say that.
Ryan
But isn't that like. Alexis, isn't that normal? If you meet a guy that you like, you like, immediately stalk him online, everywhere.
Brooke
You do stalk him online, you probably would see someone's birthday, but you don't mention it. Yeah, she might have messed up.
Ryan
Okay, what's on his. Like, Facebook or Instagram? Yeah.
Brooke
Are you sure you're not, like, misremembering that? Like, maybe somehow you mentioned it in conversation?
Tyler
I don't think so. I mean, we didn't have a lot of deep talks. That's why we were gonna get together for another date.
Brooke
Well, but she's not trying to date you on your birthday, which is a good sign.
Tyler
But just her knowing when my birthday was kind of freaked me out, so I just stopped responding to her.
Brooke
I mean, yeah, like, if you stalk a guy and you know he has two brothers, you don't mention the brothers. You still ask if he has siblings, you know? So you think Alexis, she maybe did it on accident? Yeah.
Ryan
On accident. It's possible. And we can find out because, Tyler, I mean, this isn't going to be a great look for her when I tell you this, but Stacy is quietly listening on the other line to this conversation, waiting for her chance to talk to you.
Brooke
It's not like, dude, not like a stalker.
Ryan
Oh, man.
Tyler
No, that's not creepy at all.
Ryan
No, we haven't. Yeah, it's just how the segment works.
Brooke
That's our bad.
Ryan
Yeah. Stacy, are you there?
Stacy
Hi, Tyler.
Brooke
Oh, God. Oh.
Ryan
Okay.
Stacy
I just want to say I missed your birthday, so happy birthday.
Brooke
Oh, doubling down. That's kind of funny. You mean that as a joke?
Ryan
Wait, is it a joke?
Stacy
No, it's not a joke. I really did miss his birthday. And say hi to little Buster for me. Your dog.
Ryan
Wait, what? Wait, how do you.
Tyler
How do you know my dog's name? I never told you Buster's name.
Stacy
I have a confession to make.
Brooke
What? Are you inside his house right now?
Ryan
You are the dog. You're Buster.
Stacy
No. This whole meeting of ours was not an accident.
Brooke
What? Oh, no.
Ryan
This is getting worse.
Brooke
Dude, what do you. Wait. Explain.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
What's going on right now?
Stacy
I did run across your dating profile about a week ago, and I saw the logo for the coffee shop behind you when you're receiving. And I went to the coffee shop and waited until I would run into you. And I just hope that you can respect a girl who does her homework.
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Ryan
I mean, that's more than homework.
Tyler
Suddenly all makes sense now.
Brooke
Okay, dude, Stacy, you lied to us, too. You said that it was like a chance in real life.
Stacy
Me, it was a chance that I would meet him.
Ryan
She didn't know what day he was gonna be in the coffee shop if.
Brooke
She went every day.
Ryan
Yeah.
Brooke
Dude. Stacy, this is not normal behavior.
Tyler
I don't know what to say right now.
Brooke
I'm.
Tyler
I'm kind of weirded out.
Brooke
I don't blame you. And how do you know his dog's name?
Tyler
It wasn't on my dating profile.
Brooke
That is nuts. Stacy, you can't do that.
Stacy
I can't do that, and I did. He just gave me the information on the app, and I put myself in a situation to run into.
Brooke
I trust nothing that you're saying right now. Like, what was the book? Were you actually reading that book?
Stacy
Yes. I mean, after I saw that he liked it.
Brooke
Sure.
Stacy
Why not?
Ryan
Waiting around for him for hours. Got a lot of time to kill. Gotta wrap it.
Tyler
Okay, I feel totally duped here, but.
Ryan
Isn'T it the thought that counts? Behind the Duke.
Brooke
You stop it. You stop it. If we would have known this, we would have not called for Stacy. Tyler, we don't like to be around.
Stacy
Well, then who was gonna call for me? He had blocked me.
Brooke
You didn't tell us that either. And I'm sure you know his best friend's names.
Stacy
You guys are really funny. I saw the guy on the dating profile, and I just went the extra mile to meet him.
Ryan
That's kind of sweet.
Brooke
So innocent that way. Stacy.
Ryan
Okay, the extra mile.
Brooke
There's a lot of answers. So it's a long mile.
Ryan
Yeah. Stacy, you clearly still want to go out with Tyler here, but before we.
Stacy
I do, I do. But I have a problem with something I have to clear up first.
Tyler
What?
Ryan
You have a problem Problem?
Stacy
I noticed you paid someone named Trish three times last week on a Venmo, and I'm hoping she's a dog walker.
Ryan
Venmo is kind of like, public knowledge, no?
Brooke
You could switch it to private.
Tyler
I'm switching it to private right now.
Brooke
Dude, that's nuts.
Stacy
That's not very nice. It's not polite. I don't like that, Tyler.
Brooke
Well, why is that the creepiest thing she said?
Ryan
Yeah. Really? With a tone. But it's still a yes, as far as I understood that.
Brooke
From Stacy.
Ryan
From Stacy.
Brooke
Are you actually going to ask Tyler?
Ryan
It's kind to ask.
Brooke
Don't put him in that position, Jeff.
Ryan
Well, Tyler, we would pay for your guys to meet up again if she's not already waiting for you in your apartment or at the yoga studio.
Brooke
Dude, check your closets. I'm not even lying.
Tyler
Seriously, I think I'm gonna respectfully pass.
Ryan
I Did not see this.
Brooke
Stacy, you do understand that's a no.
Stacy
I maybe just have to work harder.
Ryan
Oh, my God. I really see this happening one day.
Brooke
Guys don't do that.
Ryan
Yeah. Whether if it's against our will or not, something's going to happen. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. See, this is why we've always said you can't trust anybody who reads a book in public.
Brooke
It's illiteracy. That was the problem.
Ryan
It's a gateway activity. Brooke. First you're reading Ernest Hemingway. Next thing you know, you're reading a stranger's Venmo log and monitoring who is sending them money. Well, I mean, reading is the enemy.
Brooke
The guy in the TV show you who owns a bookstore reading. A lot of people say that a lot of psychos have come out of Catcher in the Rye like that. They use it as a map.
Ryan
Why do I feel like this isn't going to be the last time that we hear from this Stacy lady though, bro. She was like scared, like. Yeah, getting creepy.
Brooke
Too much. Yeah, too much.
Ryan
I think we're gonna. We're gonna hear from her again during a laser story where she's being featured but didn't work out. This time probably for the best. But if you want some help with your dating life, you can email the show. We'll call that person who's not calling you back. Go check out all of our second dates. Wherever you get your podcasts, they're up at Brooke and Jeffrey.

Podcast Summary: Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update – "Flirt and Observe"
Episode Information
In the latest episode of Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update, Brooke and Jeffrey dive into the intricacies of modern dating, particularly focusing on real-life encounters and the challenges that come with them. The episode titled "Flirt and Observe" centers around a listener named Stacy who shares her experience of meeting a potential romantic interest, Tyler, at a coffee shop.
Stacy's Encounter ([04:14] - [09:04])
Stacy recounts how she met Tyler in a coffee shop that was fully booked, leaving only one chair available. Both reached for the same seat, leading to a shared chair scenario. Stacy describes Tyler as "very hot" and explains how their conversation sparked naturally over a mutual interest in literature—specifically the book Catcher in the Rye.
The interaction seemed promising as they decided to attend a power yoga class together, highlighting their shared interests.
Developing Connection and Sudden Silence ([05:00] - [09:04])
After their initial meeting and subsequent workout session, Stacy and Tyler exchanged numbers and began texting. However, after a few positive exchanges, Stacy noticed Tyler became unresponsive. Concerned and puzzled by his sudden silence, Stacy reached out to Brooke and Jeffrey for advice.
Determined to uncover the reason behind Tyler's abrupt withdrawal, Brooke and Ryan decide to call Tyler live on air to address the situation directly.
The Confrontation ([09:07] - [17:04])
Upon connecting with Tyler, the hosts start a casual conversation before steering it towards Stacy's concerns about the lack of follow-up on their potential second date.
Tyler reveals confusion over Stacy's reference to his birthday, which had never been mentioned during their interactions.
During the conversation, it becomes apparent that Stacy has been overstepping boundaries by researching Tyler's personal details and orchestrating their meetings, leading to an uncomfortable and awkward situation.
This revelation shocks both Tyler and the hosts, highlighting the fine line between enthusiasm in dating and invasive behavior.
Brooke and Ryan React ([17:04] - [19:20])
Brooke and Ryan express their discomfort and disbelief at Stacy's actions, emphasizing the importance of respecting personal boundaries in dating scenarios.
They discuss the potential consequences of such behavior, jokingly warning Stacy about future interactions while reinforcing healthy dating practices.
The episode concludes with Brooke and Ryan acknowledging the delicate nature of real-life encounters and the necessity of balancing interest with respect.
Navigating First Encounters: Meeting someone in person can be daunting without the digital tools that offer control over interactions, such as block buttons or message forwarding.
Mutual Interests as a Foundation: Shared interests, like a love for a particular book or hobby, can serve as a strong foundation for building connections.
Respecting Boundaries: While enthusiasm is commendable, it's crucial to respect personal boundaries and avoid overstepping, which can lead to discomfort and misunderstandings.
Effective Communication: Clear and open communication is essential in transitioning from a first meeting to establishing a deeper connection.
Addressing Concerns Proactively: Seeking advice and addressing concerns with a third party, as Stacy did by contacting Brooke and Ryan, can provide valuable insights and potential solutions.
Brooke on Stacy's Natural Flow: "We started talking, and then I just honestly wanted to read my book, so I just pulled out my book, Catcher in the Rye. And then he turned to me and he said, I read that book. I love it." ([05:08])
Ryan on Real-Life Challenges: "It sounds so scary. There's no block button in real life." ([03:37])
Stacy's Realization: "This whole meeting of ours was not an accident." ([16:04])
Brooke on Respecting Boundaries: "Stacy, this is not normal behavior." ([16:59])
Conclusion
In "Flirt and Observe," Brooke and Jeffrey shed light on the complexities of real-life dating encounters. Through Stacy's story, listeners are reminded of the importance of mutual respect, clear communication, and maintaining healthy boundaries to foster meaningful and comfortable relationships. The episode serves as both an entertaining narrative and a cautionary tale for those navigating the unpredictable waters of dating.
