A brand new second date right now. Welcome to the Brooke and Jeffrey second date update podcast.
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
And just a heads up, this weekend we always do the classics two back to back on Saturday. And then Sunday we've been featuring a full show here that seems to be be popular.
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
So don't go away this weekend. Come check in on this podcast. Yes. And who's checking in on the text board and the comment section? Yeah. Anon Culp said, today I'm flying back home and I switched seats for a family to be together and I got a middle seat with a pretty stinky guy here. So listening to you guys is passing the time. P.S. hopefully I won't pass out from the stench. Oh, God.
Brooke
Something good and then you get bad karma.
Jeffrey
They say there's no good deed goes unpunished.
Brooke
Something good's gonna happen to you soon.
Jeffrey
Listening to us is smelling some be. Kind of sounds fitting. Yeah. At the same time. Yeah, it's the right stench. All right, here we go. Brand new second date starts right now.
Brooke
Second date update. We're all familiar with the big dating apps out there. You know, you've heard of the hinges, the okcupids, the couple to throuples. But what happens when you've tried all the big ones with not much success? You quit?
Jeffrey
You go to quadruples?
Brooke
Well, sometimes, yeah, kind of. Or you add more. Yeah, sometimes you gotta move on to the lesser known, more niche dating apps. And apparently that's how our listener Troy was able to find himself a connection. So let's learn a little bit more about it. Troy, welcome to the show.
Troy/Larissa
Hey, thanks for having me on. I'm excited to hang out with you guys on the radio.
Jeffrey
Look at that, Troy coming in. Pretty direct.
Troy/Larissa
I like that, Troy.
Brooke
Direct. A little bit over eager if you ask me, but that's okay.
Troy/Larissa
It was a coffee. It was a coffee. I apologize.
Brooke
Yeah, that's fine. We. We heard from your email that you met somebody on one of the niche dating apps.
Troy/Larissa
Yeah, Larissa.
Jeffrey
Larissa. What's that one about?
Troy/Larissa
That's the. That's the girl. That's not the app.
Jeffrey
Oh, her name.
Brooke
The girl you met at the.
Jeffrey
Larissa was the new dating app that everybody was trying. Kind of a cute app name.
Brooke
I was like, okay, it's like Adam and Eve. Larissa. Wait, she's saucy.
Jeffrey
I'm sorry. That is so stupid. What's the app that you met on?
Troy/Larissa
It's called Sizzle.
Jeffrey
Sizzle.
Brooke
Sizzle.
Troy/Larissa
Have you ever heard of it?
Jeffrey
Is that just because of Sizzle?
Brooke
Reels like, Brooks pretending like she hasn't been on it.
Jeffrey
She definitely has, but that'd be funny.
Troy/Larissa
Yeah. It's the bacon dating app.
Brooke
Wait, Jose, you've heard of this? Yeah, I think we talked about on the show.
Jeffrey
Sizzle.
Brooke
I've heard it. I don't know it, but I swear I've heard same.
Troy/Larissa
Okay.
Jeffrey
For bacon lovers. Huh?
Troy/Larissa
For bacon lovers. Yeah. And, like, I've tried all the regular ones, you know? Right. I was talking to one of my friends, and he was saying that there's, like, surprisingly cute girls on Sizzle, and at first, I hadn't heard of this. Yeah, yeah. So I joined it, and there are cute girls on there, and you know.
Jeffrey
Instantly that if they order a salad only at dinner, then they're a catfish.
Troy/Larissa
Big trouble. Big trouble. Yeah.
Brooke
Okay, so you said the girl that you met, her name is Larissa. What brought you two together?
Jeffrey
Obviously, you start talking about bacon, right?
Troy/Larissa
I think that was, like, the way to break the ice.
Brooke
And that's a good talk because you can say, hey, you like floppy bacon? Do you like crispy bacon?
Jeffrey
And immediately, you're having a chart 1 through 10, and I think, what's your bacon?
Brooke
You're not really breaking the ice. You're breaking the grease.
Troy/Larissa
That's true. That. Well, the thing is, I'm a crispy bacon fan. I don't like. Like, floppy.
Jeffrey
Yeah. Floppy's no good.
Brooke
What?
Jeffrey
Floppy's.
Brooke
I like it all. I love a good floppy one followed by a black and crispy ashy one. Okay, I know this bacon topic is really dangerous, but sor. So let's try and focus, though, on Larissa, about what you liked about her and her personality.
Troy/Larissa
Well, she's bright, she's bubbly, she's cute. We hit it off talking, right? So I find a place that serves breakfast for dinner.
Jeffrey
Oh, that's cute. I mean, it's called ihop, right?
Troy/Larissa
Well, here's the thing. Like, we're baking aficionados. I want to pick a place that's, like, has that, too. So they had two different kinds of bacon. They had regular and pepper. Peppered bacon.
Brooke
Oh, my gosh. Those places that'll say, like, we cut our own bacon and season it. I love those, like, diners.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Brooke
All right.
Jeffrey
Wow. So, I mean, you show up and what is that?
Troy/Larissa
Like, we're definitely having fun. We felt like we were having, like, brunch at 6pm yeah.
Brooke
Because that was literally what was happening.
Troy/Larissa
Pretty much it. We were talking about, like, other things other than bacon too. You know, like, we talked about favorite TV shows. Like, hers is American Idol, which.
Jeffrey
Interesting.
Troy/Larissa
Does the kind of thing I didn't really understand too well because, like, I was talking about Game of Thrones. Like, that's my favorite TV show.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brooke
Okay. Yeah. Now that you two aren't connecting, maybe your TV show interests were too different. Like, you're a little bit more serious. She's a little bit more, like, loose on the reality side. Maybe that's where she's coming from.
Jeffrey
You think that's a reason why she.
Brooke
Wouldn'T call him back if you don't have similar interests?
Jeffrey
I don't know. Most people don't like reality. Like, you just accept it. I mean, are you that passionate about television that it would be a deal breaker?
Troy/Larissa
Absolutely not. I don't. I don't think it was that big of a deal.
Brooke
Okay.
Troy/Larissa
Because, like, we had a good first date. We ended up splitting an Oreo shake after.
Jeffrey
Cute.
Troy/Larissa
The Sharon part was cool, but I paid for dinner and dessert. I don't want to make sure she didn't have to pay that.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Brooke
That's a good move.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brooke
And I'm sorry to bring it back to the dinner part, but do you know, did you take the very last piece of bacon on the plate and.
Jeffrey
Not, like, in a shared plate and.
Brooke
Didn'T offer to let her have it first?
Troy/Larissa
So I remember leaving it purposely.
Brooke
Oh, my goodness. Wow.
Troy/Larissa
Yeah. Because we both like food. So, like, I was like, okay, I will practice restraint.
Brooke
Okay, so it sounds like that wasn't the problem. Let's go to the very end of the night. How did you two leave it?
Troy/Larissa
Okay, so, like, we finished up the date. We had dessert. It was wonderful. Before we left to go back to our cars, we had a really nice hug. There was no kissing, but it was like, a really nice hug. And I was feeling like I wanted to connect again and go on a second date. So, like, I asked her, would you want to go on another date? And she goes, sure.
Jeffrey
Oh, she didn't match your enthusiasm.
Brooke
Sure isn't good. Was your tone the way that she said it, Was it like, sure, or was it more like sure?
Jeffrey
Like, did she go up or down?
Brooke
Or was it flat sure?
Troy/Larissa
It felt more like closer to sure.
Brooke
Oh, she went down.
Jeffrey
And you kept that long. You.
Brooke
And then it's like when Brooke offers us to, like, get a bite of her lunch, and we're like, sure.
Jeffrey
I don't even say sure. Who says that? I feel like you all say no.
Brooke
Yeah, they're not as polite as I am.
Jeffrey
I brought in a really good stir fry, but the meat is a little chewy. If you want a bite later.
Brooke
Sure. Also, she doesn't know what the meat is. Yeah, but it's me. You're right. Because if it's not bacon, we don't care.
Jeffrey
Okay. Oh, yeah.
Brooke
Because that's what this second date is all about. Today we need to help Troy get his sizzle back. All right, so let's get Larissa on the phone and rizzle this sizzler right after this second date update. Out of the thousands of second date calls we've ever done over the years, this, I'm pretty sure is the first time we've ever had two people actually meet on the dating app Sizzle for Bacon. So already this call is historic. Cuz that's where our listener Troy matched with his lovely baconista named Larissa, the.
Jeffrey
Queen of the bacon.
Brooke
Yes, ma'. Am. They went on a late brunch date. Sounded pretty awesome. Some would even call it a grand slam. Troy, would you say. Would you say grand slam, Troy?
Troy/Larissa
I thought it was.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Troy/Larissa
Okay.
Brooke
You get the joke, right? I get it, but I don't feel the emotion in your voice. Okay, well, that felt forced. Did that feel forced?
Jeffrey
I think it was added.
Brooke
But he felt like the end of the day when she said sure to a second meetup, also sounded forced. So we don't know why she would be brushing Troy off. We have to get some answers.
Jeffrey
Is there, like, that many options on the baking dating app?
Troy/Larissa
You'd. You'd be surprised. There's, like, a lot of hotties out there that like bacon.
Brooke
Okay. I feel like there should be a commercials. Like hot models eating bacon. But bacon doesn't need commercials because everyone buys it so much.
Jeffrey
Yeah, I think Burger King did that with Paris Hilton, basically. Oh, yeah.
Brooke
Was that Carl's junior Somebody. They never recovered after that, did they? Okay, okay, Jeff, well, let's. Let's just call Larissa. I'm hoping she answers and can give us some excuse for why she's not calling you back. Maybe an answer, not an excuse. Like a real. Actually, yeah. You know what I mean? Like a reason. Yeah, I'd like the Real reason.
Jeffrey
Thanks for keeping him honest.
Brooke
Yeah, we'll see.
Troy/Larissa
Yeah.
Brooke
Okay. Here we go.
Jeffrey
Hello.
Brooke
Hey, we're looking to speak with Larissa.
Troy/Larissa
Yeah, that's me.
Brooke
Hey, Larissa. Sorry to interrupt your day, but you are currently on a radio show. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Jeffrey
Hi.
Brooke
Good morning.
Troy/Larissa
Oh, good morning.
Jeffrey
Welcome to the show. This might be kind of exciting.
Troy/Larissa
What's the call about, exactly?
Brooke
It's about this thing we do called a second date update, and we're trying to help out one of our listeners who you went out with recently. A guy named Troy.
Jeffrey
Oh.
Troy/Larissa
Yeah.
Jeffrey
I don't.
Troy/Larissa
I don't think I really want to see him again.
Brooke
Okay.
Troy/Larissa
Wow.
Jeffrey
That was quick.
Brooke
If you feel that way, that's totally fine, but the reason that we're doing this is because Troy feels a little bit confused.
Jeffrey
He said he had a great date with you.
Troy/Larissa
Well, so most of the date went well, and I did have a good time, and he was a fun guy. I liked him. But something that I don't like is an inconsiderate person.
Jeffrey
What?
Brooke
Oh, that doesn't sound like him.
Jeffrey
You wouldn't believe the amount of compliments he gave you when we talked to him. He seemed so considerate.
Troy/Larissa
Yes, well, he did give me a lot of compliments, and he was nice in that. But he did something else that rubbed me the wrong way. Really bad.
Brooke
Would you care to share what that is? Because it would really help him.
Jeffrey
Yeah. So he could never do it again. He doesn't know.
Troy/Larissa
So we were talking about what our favorite TV shows were.
Brooke
Oh, right. Okay. And yours was American Idol, and his was Game of Thrones.
Troy/Larissa
Yes, exactly. So he obviously remembers some of the. This conversation, but when he told me Game of Thrones, the first thing I said was that I had never seen it before, but I wanted to watch it.
Jeffrey
Yeah, same. We're rare.
Brooke
People are always like, you haven't seen it.
Jeffrey
I haven't seen it either.
Brooke
Okay, so Brooke gets it.
Jeffrey
It's a big investment. Yeah.
Brooke
Eight seasons or whatever.
Troy/Larissa
Yeah. And it was on my list of things to watch. And then I told him that. And then, even though I said that to him, he told me the end of the entire series.
Brooke
No way.
Jeffrey
He spoiled all of Game of Thrones for you?
Troy/Larissa
The whole thing? Multiple things from different seasons. He told me all these key plot points.
Brooke
Oh, and I remember that was a dramatic. People would come into work like, oh, my God. It's kind of impressive because that's a really dense story, and if he's able to cover A lot of it in a short span of time. It's not like the dragon dies kind of thing. Like, there's a lot more to it. I mean, there's a lot of stuff in. And it is his favorite show, though, so. So he probably didn't realize he was gushing so much about it.
Jeffrey
I was watching recently. My friends were shocked. I didn't know any spoilers because it's been out for so long. It's like, I mean, maybe he wasn't telling you all the stuff. Like, how do you know? Well, don't say the ending.
Troy/Larissa
I looked up a lot of stuff and it was all spoilers.
Jeffrey
Oh, no.
Brooke
Like, the best part.
Jeffrey
Guess you can take that one off your watch list. Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah. So for you, you don't trust him anymore because he ruined Game of Thrones?
Jeffrey
No, he's not considerate because he ruined it.
Troy/Larissa
Yeah. I mean, I don't know. It seemed like he was trying to explain it to me because he liked it so much, but just the look on my face as he was talking, I just could not believe how much he kept telling me.
Jeffrey
And it's not like you told him that Carrie Underwood won American Idol.
Brooke
Yeah. Okay. This is. This is. This puts us in a tough spot, because I know you don't like spoilers.
Troy/Larissa
Oh, no.
Brooke
Unfortunately, there is a little bit of a spoiler I need to ruin for you and let you know that Troy's been secretly listening on the other line wanting to talk to you.
Troy/Larissa
What? He's on the phone?
Brooke
Yeah, that's how this segment works. Troy, are you there?
Troy/Larissa
Yeah. Yeah, I'm sorry. Like, oh, man. I feel really bad.
Jeffrey
A good thing to start with.
Brooke
You can hear it in his voice. Did you do that on purpose? Did you tell her the end and ruin it for her?
Troy/Larissa
Well, I got excited. I got excited, and I just started talking about it and, like, wanting to share it with Larissa.
Jeffrey
That's kind of notoriously one of the most disappointing endings of all time. Right. Remember, don't say whatever. The whole world watched it, Alexis. I was famous for that.
Brooke
You should talk directly to Larissa because she's pretty upset with you.
Troy/Larissa
It sounds like Larissa. I apologize. Like, I didn't mean to ruin that for you. I don't know what you're planning to do to watch it, I guess, but, like, I know that it sounds like it was important to you, and I didn't mean to do that.
Jeffrey
That was so humble.
Troy/Larissa
Oh. I mean, it was definitely on my watch list. I said it before you started telling Me, the whole lore for like, 30 minutes. But I know it was just one of those things where I got kind of into it and you didn't tell me to stop. Yeah, I mean, I definitely could have interrupted you and, like, cut you off.
Brooke
In hindsight, especially if you went on for 30 whole minutes, that gives you a lot of chances to jump in.
Troy/Larissa
But I thought he'd stop eventually after season two or three, but he just kept going. See, like, that's where it gets good, though.
Brooke
It really does.
Jeffrey
I mean, the thing is that spoilers don't necessarily ruin it for you. Like, I had never seen Star wars before. I knew about Darth Vader and Luke and everything, and it was still fun to watch.
Troy/Larissa
I just feel like it diminishes it a little bit. I mean, like, there's six seasons of it. That's like three weeks of my life where I could have binge watched it and enjoyed and had no idea what was going on. But now I'm like, oh, so and so is gonna die this, and that's gonna happen. Like, I know it's coming.
Brooke
That's magic. When you're in the middle of a show, you got two seasons behind it. You're two seasons in, you're like, this is the best parts. I'm wondering how in depth did he get about, like, the Red Wedding, though? You're gonna ruin it.
Jeffrey
Oh, my God. I don't know. It's like, if you've seen.
Brooke
Heard about it.
Jeffrey
I hope he didn't explain it that much.
Brooke
Easy to you at least got into, like, the family on fan family stuff, right?
Troy/Larissa
What.
Jeffrey
What show? Have you not heard anything about it?
Brooke
Oh, yeah, that's all in there, bro. If anything, that should be a selling point for you.
Troy/Larissa
Like, please don't ruin it even more for her. Come on.
Jeffrey
I feel like pop culture things, everyone knows.
Brooke
I know.
Jeffrey
I feel like maybe you guys just need to find a favorite TV show together that you both haven't watched.
Troy/Larissa
Yeah.
Brooke
Combine the two American Thrones.
Jeffrey
That's just the Kardashians.
Troy/Larissa
Oh, I feel like I'm kind of realizing that Troy did not do that. Be malicious. He didn't do it to be a jerk and ruin it for me. He was just passionate. And to be fair, it didn't in 2019. So there's some time. You did have a little bit of time to see it.
Jeffrey
I mean. Yeah. I mean, we had a whole pandemic to watch it. Yeah.
Brooke
A lot of years. But listen, I now I'm starting to feel a little bit of sizzle happening all over again.
Jeffrey
Is the pan back turned on?
Brooke
We may be. I'm feeling a little bit of heat happening. And now might be the right time to ask Larissa if you'd be willing to give Troy one more chance at another date. And if you say yes, we would pay for it.
Troy/Larissa
Oh, I think I may have overreacted. So I'm gonna say yes.
Brooke
Congratulations, man. This actually worked out for you.
Troy/Larissa
Thanks.
Brooke
Or is it now that you don't want to go out with her because she knows too much?
Troy/Larissa
You know what? I think I'm just gonna focus on bacon for this date.
Brooke
Yeah, go back to the thing that bonded you.
Troy/Larissa
You. There you go. Little crisp. I like it floppy.
Brooke
Oh, no.
Jeffrey
Okay, that might be too far.
Brooke
This may be the deal right here. I hope you're still talking about bacon. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning Tired.

That's kind of morbid.

Yeah, that's.
Jeffrey
Don't make him witness that.

And then they eat him at the reception. They put him up on a chair and lift him like. Like it's a bar mitzvah.
Jeffrey
Oh, no. All right, Jeff. We don't like that part.
Brooke
You know what? It's not our wedding to plan. It's theirs. If it happens, hopefully they stay together, because I'll tell you, we've got ideas. Too many.

Podcast: Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update
Host: iHeartPodcasts
In this episode of Second Date Update, the hosts lend a hand to Troy, who connected with Larissa on a niche dating app called “Sizzle,” exclusively for bacon lovers. After what seemed like a fun, bacon-filled first date, Troy finds himself ghosted—so Brooke, Jeffrey, and the team step in to uncover why. The episode is full of playful banter, cringe-worthy confessions, and ultimately, a light-hearted resolution that has everyone rooting for love (and bacon).
The tone is cheeky, lighthearted, and full of good-natured ribbing and puns (especially bacon-related). The hosts balance empathy with humor, turning what could have been an awkward dead-end into an entertaining—and heartwarming—outcome.
For listeners who missed it:
This episode is a classic Second Date Update blend of unique dating stories, relatable slip-ups, and the hope that sometimes, even a major spoiler can be forgiven—especially when bacon brings people together.
