Unknown Speaker 1
I found it too.
Bloomberg
Finally.
Unknown Speaker 1
It's pretty easy, actually.
Brooke
Thanks for being here, Jose.
Unknown Speaker 1
You're welcome.
Brooke

Unknown Speaker 2
Second Date Update. Normally, when we hear a guy say he went out With a woman who's way out of his league, the first thing that comes to our minds is looks.
Unknown Speaker 1
Yeah, I think you're right.
Unknown Speaker 2
We're thinking, she's a New York 10, he's an Idaho six and a half.
Unknown Speaker 1
Oh, yikes.
Brooke
Which is still striking gold for me.
Unknown Speaker 2
You know what? Not in this case.
Brooke
I'll take that nugget.
Unknown Speaker 2
One of our listeners, Tyler, says he went out with someone whose brain is a 10.
Brooke
Oh, that's awesome. I love that.
Unknown Speaker 2
And he's still an Idaho six and a half.
Brooke
Okay, good for you.
Unknown Speaker 2
But, Tyler, you say she's good looking too, right?
Tyler
She is. Yes.
Brooke
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 1
Okay, red flag. Pretty and smart.
Brooke
What's wrong with her? Personality's got to suck.
Elf Beauty
There you go.
Unknown Speaker 2
There it is. Where'd you meet this girl?
Tyler
We met online. So she kind of checked all my boxes.
Brooke
Physically, she checks all these boxes and she's still online dating.
Unknown Speaker 1
Was it like Tinder or Scientist Inquiries?
Unknown Speaker 2
Just a normal dating app, I'm guessing.
Tyler
Yeah. Yeah.
Brooke
Okay. And what's her name? We didn't get that.
Tyler
Veronica.
Brooke
Veronica. That is a pretty name.
Unknown Speaker 2
That name is a ten. She's everything.
Brooke
Oh, my God. Jeff's ready to date her.
Unknown Speaker 2
Tell us a little bit about Veronica. What did you like about her?
Tyler
Okay, so, I mean, obviously beautiful, but you could just tell she was really interesting and smart and.
Brooke
Do you mean tell like when you saw her dating profile or when you met her in person?
Tyler
The profile.
Brooke
Okay.
Tyler
Because she was into art and she's into books and reading. Boring.
AJ Stephens
I know.
Unknown Speaker 2
Jose has swiped left seven times since she started talking.
Unknown Speaker 1
Even audiobooks.
Unknown Speaker 2
I'd be like, well, but that's. That's something that you like about comic books. Maybe that's something that you like about her.
Tyler
Yeah. Yeah, I do. I like somebody who's smart and who's. Who's educated.
Unknown Speaker 1
All kidding aside, intellect is sexy, for sure.
Brooke
That's great.
Tyler
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2
So what'd you end up doing for your date?
Tyler
So I thought I could make it a little bit unique since she's so much into art and literature and reading. So we went to a few different libraries. Like all these unique places you went.
Brooke
With that instead of, like.
Unknown Speaker 1
No art galleries?
Brooke
Yeah, exactly.
Unknown Speaker 1
But a library, really.
Brooke
Anything but a library. Did you post a book when you like a library?
Unknown Speaker 2
Stop judging. There are some dark, seedy sections in every library where you can sneak away.
Brooke
Listen, I spend actually a lot of time in the library.
Unknown Speaker 2
Not in the good parts.
Brooke
Apparently not.
Unknown Speaker 1
Yeah.
Brooke
And I just. They're not. That'd be hard to like. Sit and have a conversation. They're quiet places, you know.
Tyler
That's true. But you know, it's not just about books. It's about, you know, you look around and the architecture of the buildings. Because libraries are pretty cool.
Brooke
That's true.
Unknown Speaker 2
A lot of them have coffee shops in there too. Do they?
Brooke
I don't think so. Okay, when is the last time you went to a library? They have restrooms and a computer area.
Unknown Speaker 1
Yeah, they all have ATMs you can pull cash out, right?
Unknown Speaker 2
No, this isn't coffee. What am I drinking? You know what, Tyler? If you had a good time in the library and she had a good time, then that's great.
Tyler
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 1
I will say I already like this. This is probably the most unique day one of them that we've ever heard where you guys are finding different thing to entertain yourself.
Brooke
I feel like that's a stretch.
Unknown Speaker 1
I like it for them. I don't like it. Okay, I think.
Brooke
What was her thoughts though?
Tyler
I mean, I felt like it went well. Maybe the problem was she had to drive separately because I didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable, you know, driving to someplace with somebody you don't really know, so.
Unknown Speaker 1
Sure.
Unknown Speaker 2
You drove separately to all three libraries?
Tyler
Yeah. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 1
Should have paid for parking.
Unknown Speaker 2
I feel like after the first one you would feel safe enough to ride together.
Brooke
Or was it four? I mean, it's. It doesn't matter.
Tyler
That's a valid point. But the other, you know, the other thing is, and you guys brought it up a little bit, it's tough to talk and get to know each other when you're in a library. You gotta kind of be quiet a little bit. I'm not really comfortable and outgoing all the time. So I thought it may be a little bit more romantic to go somewhere where I didn't have to talk as much and be, you know, on as much. We can kind of be a little bit more intimate.
Brooke
Intimate by being silent?
Unknown Speaker 1
Very. Just eye contact intimate.
Tyler
You know, get to know each other without actually having to babble on and on and on. You know, just.
Unknown Speaker 2
Okay, yeah.
Brooke
Each other's presence.
Unknown Speaker 2
Yeah. Like a 20 year old married couple.
Brooke
I don't know. Did you feel like she was asking you more questions than you were asking her?
Tyler
I'm actually not sure about that. She probably was a little bit more outgoing than I was. I'll say that. Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah. I only ask is like, you know, maybe that is a sign that she was like trying to fill the void. Right?
Tyler
Yeah.
Brooke
That it wasn't comfortable for her.
Unknown Speaker 1
She's Asking questions. She's like, I'm trying to read. Don't make me.
Tyler
Yeah. I mean, maybe it felt like she wanted to talk more and I want to be a little bit more quiet and reserved.
Brooke
Okay, well, I feel like calling a radio station for help is going to prove to her that you do have an outgoing side as well. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 1
You know, going for you.
Tyler
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2
Was there at any point during the day a super romantic or flirtatious moment that would be like a highlight you could point out? Yeah.
Tyler
We were being jokey and flirty, and one time I grabbed a self help book that said that, you know, the beginner's guide to human Sacrifice and said, oh.
Unknown Speaker 1
That'S kind of funny, though.
Brooke
I don't know.
Unknown Speaker 2
Flirty, if that's flirty, but it's something.
Brooke
Okay, I don't have virgin blood, so it's not gonna work.
Unknown Speaker 2
Yeah. Maybe on your next day you could sacrifice someone together and we'll send you there. Hopefully. If we can get her on the line when we do your second date update right after this.
Tyler
Thank you.
Unknown Speaker 2
All right, hold on. Second date update. This little piggy went to the library. This little piggy went to another library.
Unknown Speaker 1
Okay.
Unknown Speaker 2
This little piggy went to a third library. It's all libraries with this piggy and no coffee shops inside like I thought there were.
Unknown Speaker 1
Okay.
Brooke
You should go to one sometime.
Unknown Speaker 2
I guess so. Because Tyler, our listener, took Veronica to a bunch of different libraries around the city because he knew that she loved reading and art and smart stuff like that. But afterwards, this little piggy hasn't been able to get himself another date, so he went wee wee wee all the way to the radio station for help.
Unknown Speaker 1
Are we the big bad wolf? No, we're phone lined up.
Unknown Speaker 2
We're the safe place.
Brooke
I feel like this is the last time you read, and I'm a little concerned about that.
Unknown Speaker 2
Well, that's okay.
Unknown Speaker 1
Yeah, we had to do one library tube, library, one fish, two fish.
Unknown Speaker 2
It's not about me and my reading. It's about Tyler and trying to get him hooked up again with Veronica. Tyler, how you feeling, man?
Tyler
Lucky.
Unknown Speaker 2
This question. Okay.
Brooke
Why?
Tyler
I feel like I'm gonna get lucky. You guys are gonna pull through for me.
Brooke
Okay. That has a different meaning than you think. We're not providing that service. But we forgot to ask, like, have you talked to her at all since your library date?
Tyler
No. I called once and I sent a text. Nothing.
Unknown Speaker 1
Well, that's our special.
Brooke
That's not too much either. That's good.
Unknown Speaker 2
Well, we have dozens and dozens of Phone lines to call her on one of them. She has to an her. Let's give it a shot.
Tyler
Okay.
Unknown Speaker 1
We're going to call her from eight different lines at once.
Unknown Speaker 2
I will call her for four straight days until she picks up the phone. I promise you that, Tyler. Okay, let's do this.
Unknown Speaker 1
Once on one line will work.
Unknown Speaker 2
Okay, let's try it the first time. Here we go.
Elf Beauty
Hello?
Unknown Speaker 2
Hi, is this Veronica?
Elf Beauty
Yeah. Who's calling?
Unknown Speaker 2
Hey, this is Jeff from the radio show Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Elf Beauty
Okay.
Unknown Speaker 2
I like to pause there to see if there's any recognition.
Brooke
I also feel like it made you sound intellectual.
Unknown Speaker 1
She reads books. She don't listen to our show.
Unknown Speaker 2
Yeah, we hear that you are a intellectual type.
Unknown Speaker 1
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2
Is that true?
Elf Beauty
I am so confused. Why are you guys calling me? What?
Unknown Speaker 2
You ask good questions.
Elf Beauty
I'm an intellectual.
Unknown Speaker 2
Like, we've heard that from one of our listeners named Tyler, who you apparently went out with the other day to several libraries.
Elf Beauty
Oh, yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2
But now you're not calling him back. And so we're trying to help him through this segment called the Second Date Update to figure out if something went wrong or if we could fix it. Yeah, you know, to see what's going on.
Brooke
Maybe get you another shot.
Elf Beauty
Okay, so our radio station is trying to play matchmaker. Okay. This is real.
Brooke
Yeah, very real.
Unknown Speaker 2
We're not really trying to play matchmaker. It sounds like you guys already matched online.
Elf Beauty
Well, yeah, no. I mean, we did match online. We met on an app, but I'm not sure if that translated to matching in real life. Something just sort of fell off.
Brooke
I'm so curious what your thoughts or feelings were when he suggested the library tour.
Elf Beauty
Yeah, I actually really loved that. I thought that was super unique. You know, I'm just so sick of, like, going to the coffee shop or, like, going to the bar. Like, I'm just like. It's just kind of boring.
Unknown Speaker 2
And, you know, that's why you gotta find a library that has a coffee shop and a bar inside.
Brooke
I'd go to that, actually.
Unknown Speaker 2
Yeah, but.
Brooke
Oh, so I would, too. But you had fun then with the library aspect of your date?
Elf Beauty
I mean, I really loved it. It was such a unique idea. I love that he sort of took something and I really love. Which is books. I love reading. I'm a huge reader. And he kind of, like, tailored the date towards one of my interests, which I thought was really nice.
Unknown Speaker 1
Oh, sweet.
Brooke
That's really positive.
Unknown Speaker 2
It's a very thoughtful thing of him to do. Okay.
Elf Beauty
Yeah, Very thoughtful. Not generic, but unfortunately, the chemistry just wasn't there.
Brooke
Do you think it's because the setting didn't, like, give it a chance to chem it? What. What's the verb for making chemistry?
Unknown Speaker 1
We're not as smart as you are. Yeah.
Brooke
What's the verb there? To mix to.
Unknown Speaker 1
It's.
Unknown Speaker 2
I mean, it's hard to have a strong connection with someone in a place where you're supposed to stay quiet and whisper all the time. Is that what's going on?
Elf Beauty
Yeah. I mean, we didn't talk a lot in librarians because you kind of need to be quiet, obviously. And I thought maybe he was nervous or something, so I asked him to grab a drink afterwards and he said no, thanks.
Unknown Speaker 1
Wait, he rejected you?
Unknown Speaker 2
Whoa. We didn't hear about that part of the story.
Brooke
Does he not drink, do you think? Is that why?
Elf Beauty
I thought maybe that. But he was just a completely different person than who I met online. Like, I thought we were vibing on, chatting, and then like, in person, I'm like, why wouldn't you want to get a drink after going to three libraries? Like, I am smart, but I'm not boring.
Unknown Speaker 2
I mean, was it 10 in the morning? Like a tiger?
Tyler
Hi, Veronica.
Unknown Speaker 1
Oh, well, that wasn't supposed to happen.
Unknown Speaker 2
Sorry. That. That's Tyler, who is supposed to wait till we call him in, but.
Elf Beauty
Oh, my. Okay.
Unknown Speaker 2
Yeah, he's been listening on the other line this whole time. You can say hi to him.
Tyler
Yeah.
Elf Beauty
Where you want to go next? Three churches. Like God.
Brooke
I thought you said you liked it.
Unknown Speaker 1
Church architecture is actually pretty crazy.
Unknown Speaker 2
Maybe she's super religious.
Tyler
I mean. Sorry. So I. I guess I just, you know, I have something to admit to you. Everybody, I guess.
Unknown Speaker 1
Oh, admissions.
Elf Beauty
Okay. I mean, that's fine. I just, you know, if you don't drink, like, no judgment, that's fine. Like, you could have done something else, but you just, like, peaced out. So I'm just really weirded out that you want to ask me out again.
Tyler
But when we matched online, you were just, you know, you're so beautiful, intelligent, sophisticated. I just knew I couldn't match up to that. In order to seem more charming, I was texting you using, you know, chat, GPT and Chad gbt.
Unknown Speaker 1
Is that the new one?
Brooke
That's the AI. That is like the computer generated text. Wait, that wasn't really you texting with her?
Tyler
Yeah. So I'd like, type in, hey, you're a single guy. Say something smart, funny, classic art. And it came out.
Unknown Speaker 1
That works, bro.
Tyler
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 1
Dang. I gotta download this. Is it an app. Website. Okay, well, good to know. For other reasons.
Elf Beauty
Wait, so, like, use artificial intelligence to talk to me through a dating app? Like, I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around this. Like, so, yeah, you were a completely different person, so.
Brooke
Oh, she's right. He was. He was like a droid, and now he's a human.
Elf Beauty
I feel like I got catfished by, like, a chat bot is what happened.
Tyler
Yeah.
Elf Beauty
Oh, my gosh. Wait, wait, so you don't actually like Monet then?
Tyler
That's how you pronounce it? I thought it was, like, Manet.
Brooke
Dude, you gotta tell us this type of stuff before we call someone.
Elf Beauty
This is not.
Tyler
I was just a little nervous.
Elf Beauty
That's.
Tyler
That's all I like. It's just for me, I'm a little bit shy at first, but once you get to know me, I have a much better personality. A bigger personality. It's just the initial meeting was a little bit intimidating to me.
Brooke
I mean, and it makes sense why you picked a library so you didn't have to talk.
Unknown Speaker 2
Oh, and that's why you said no to the bar, too. You were, like, nervous about exposing yourself.
Unknown Speaker 1
Like, free thought.
Unknown Speaker 2
I mean, exposing. Not in that way. Like, just not living up to the intellectuals that you showed online.
Elf Beauty
Yeah, you basically lied about all of your interests and then plagiarized an entire online conversation with me. So I'm talking to, like, a fake person, right?
Tyler
No, I'm not a fake person. I put out all the emojis myself.
Unknown Speaker 2
That's some sophisticated stuff. There are, like, hundreds of them to pick through.
Tyler
I picked the right one.
Elf Beauty
It took a lot of intellectual labor to pick out a book emoji when we were talking about books.
Unknown Speaker 2
The one with the glasses would have been cuter.
Brooke
Yeah, the nerd.
Unknown Speaker 1
The nerd one.
Brooke
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2
Brooke, do you give him any credit here for at least going through all this effort to try and impress her?
Brooke
Yeah, I get that you didn't have enough to offer her, and that's too bad.
Unknown Speaker 2
That's a little bit harsh.
Brooke
Well, I mean, with your commentary, all of it. But, like, I think you should come at it with an. A big apology instead of don't blame me for this. Like, that's kind of a. Not an awesome look.
Elf Beauty
I agree.
Tyler
Yeah, I just. I don't know. I just. Because we didn't really get a chance to talk. Talk at the library. So I thought maybe a second date at the exact same time we had the first day wasn't in my best interest.
Brooke
You're not making any sense.
Elf Beauty
Doesn't make any sense at all.
Unknown Speaker 2
Ask Chat bot what you should say here.
Brooke
Ty.
Elf Beauty
Dad, you have it pulled up right now or use your actual responses or you, like, have, like, a laptop open, like, while we're online, like, on the phone. Like, I don't trust you now, and that's bad.
Tyler
Okay, so I've been honest with you since we've been talking on the. On the radio here, and I do have the chat bot up. I'm just not using it. The blank screen.
Brooke
Okay.
Elf Beauty
Oh, my God.
Unknown Speaker 2
Maybe you should.
Elf Beauty
Oh, my God.
Brooke
Maybe you should, Jeffrey.
Unknown Speaker 2
It couldn't hurt.
Elf Beauty
Wow.
Brooke
I mean, he's earnest. He likes you.
Unknown Speaker 2
And I bet he really does like Monet. Tyler, say something nice about Monet.
Tyler
He used wonderful colors.
Elf Beauty
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2
Oh, my nephew said the same thing when he watched Thomas the Train. So clearly, the intellect is shining through today. And we would like to connect you two one more time for another day.
Unknown Speaker 1
Oh, this is a big.
Unknown Speaker 2
And pay for that date. You know, library, coffee shop, bar, combo, gift cards.
Brooke
They don't exist.
Unknown Speaker 2
We're gonna find it.
Brooke
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2
Veronic.
Elf Beauty
I don't know. I mean, like, Tyler, like, the date idea was all you, I think, maybe. And that was great. And you made some funny joke about human sacrifice, and I, like, you came up with something beforehand. Like, I think you should maybe give yourself some more credit, because I think you are smart and funny, but you're just not the right person for me. Like, I already lost my trust, so I'm sorry, I can't get that back.
Unknown Speaker 2
I'm sorry, man.
Tyler
Bad face emoji.
Brooke
Yeah, that was his own speaking. All right, Tyler. Disappointed face emoji.
Unknown Speaker 2
Look at Jeffrey in the morning. Well, no surprise. Didn't really work out for Tyler on that one.
Brooke
I feel for him. I do. Poor buddy.
Unknown Speaker 2
That's why I asked. Chat. GPT.
Brooke
No, you didn't chat.
Unknown Speaker 2
I actually did. I asked it to say something kind and funny about a guy who just got rejected for a second date.
Brooke
And what did.
Unknown Speaker 1
I bet they came up with a good answer.
Unknown Speaker 2
Here's what it said. Well, getting rejected for a second date may not feel like a laughing matter at first, but it's always good to keep your sense of humor about it. Because who knows? Maybe the person you asked out has a terrible taste in movies. Or they're secretly a cat person.
Unknown Speaker 1
Oh, hey, cat people are bad.
Unknown Speaker 2
Whatever the reason may be, just remember that rejection is not a reflection of your worth as a person.
Brooke
That's right.
Unknown Speaker 2
Keep your head up, keep being yourself, and keep putting yourself out there. Because the right person is out there waiting for you.
Brooke
Oh, right. Who knows?
Unknown Speaker 2
Maybe someday you'll look back on this rejection and laugh about it over a drink with your future soulmates.
Tyler
Wow.
Brooke
That's so cute.
Unknown Speaker 1
That's awesome.
Brooke
That could be true too, because you're on the radio and you're like, you'd never believe what I did. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2
Oh, my God. I think I want to date the Chat GPT boss. Some inappropriate questions right after this, but if you ever want to hear any of our second day podcasts, you can find them up online, wherever you get them at Brooke and Jeffrey. Brooke and Jeffrey.
Brooke
Yep, that's the one. Should have had Chat GPT right there.
Tyler
Should have done it.
Unknown Speaker 1
Yeah.
Brooke

Episode Summary: "Second Date Update: How Dare You Chat Me Up"
Release Date: January 20, 2025
Podcast: Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update
Host: iHeartPodcasts
In this engaging episode of Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update, hosts Brooke and Jeffrey delve into the intricate world of modern dating, particularly focusing on the challenges of securing a second date after a seemingly promising first encounter. The episode spotlights listener Tyler's experience with his date, Veronica, exploring the dynamics that led to his current predicament.
[02:01] The episode kicks off with Brooke welcoming Tyler, a listener who recently went on a first date with Veronica. Tyler shares that Veronica is exceptionally intelligent and attractive—qualities that set high expectations for their budding relationship.
Notable Quote:
Tyler: "She is [good-looking]. Yes." [03:05]
Determined to impress Veronica, who has a profound interest in art and literature, Tyler orchestrates a unique date by visiting multiple libraries instead of the typical coffee shop or bar settings.
[04:27]
Tyler: "So I thought I could make it a little bit unique since she's so much into art and literature and reading. So we went to a few different libraries." [04:27]
Brooke's Commentary: Brooke critiques the choice, suggesting that libraries might not provide the optimal environment for conversation, given their quiet nature.
Notable Interaction:
Brooke: "Anything but a library. Did you post a book when you like a library?" [04:46]
Despite Tyler's thoughtful planning, the date encounters several obstacles:
Separation During the Date: Tyler opts to drive separately to each library to ensure Veronica's comfort, which might have hindered the connection.
[06:08] Tyler: "But you know, it's not just about books. It's about, you know, you look around and the architecture of the buildings. Because libraries are pretty cool." [05:12]
Limited Interaction: The necessity to remain quiet in libraries restricts meaningful conversation, making it difficult for both parties to get to know each other deeply.
[06:19]
Tyler: "But the other thing is, and you guys brought it up a little bit, it's tough to talk and get to know each other when you're in a library." [06:19]
After a seemingly well-planned date, Tyler finds himself ghosted by Veronica, leading him to seek advice from Brooke and Jeffrey.
[07:00]
Tyler: "I'm actually not sure about that. She probably was a little bit more outgoing than I was." [07:05]
Determined to help Tyler, Brooke and Jeffrey take an unconventional approach by reaching out directly to Veronica through a staged phone call from the radio station.
[10:06]
Jeffrey: "Hi, is this Veronica?" [10:07]
Veronica answers, revealing her confusion and surprise at the unexpected call from the radio hosts.
