Brooke
Quick, Alexis, before the second date starts, tell everyone hello in. In Australia. Oh, good day, mate. Oh, there we go. That must be the reason why we're charting in Australia on the Top comedy podcast. Yeah, totally hot. All right, thanks for being here. And don't forget, if you do love this much of the show, we've got 45 more minutes of it over on our main feed. Just Brooke and Jeffrey. Brooke and Jeffrey. No. Now they understand what we're talking about. Let's get to what you came for. It's your second date.
Jeffrey
Second date. Update. I've always thought.
Brooke
Jeez, you always thought someday I'd be 13.
Jeffrey
Puberty's gonna get me one day.
Brooke
There it is. There it is, buddy.
Jeffrey
I've always thought that the airline commercials are doing it all wrong.
Jose
Why?
Jeffrey
You know, instead of talking about how comfortable their seats are or how helpful their flight attendants can be.
Jose
Yeah, which is tr.
Jeffrey
They should advertise all the hot action that you can get while at the airport. And I'm not just talking about the massage tables where I was recently arrested.
Brooke
Yeah, do that at those massage tables.
Jeffrey
The lady didn't ask If I was a real masseuse, I just went for you.
Brooke
Giving them.
Jeffrey
Oh, yeah, I'm a giver. You know that about me. But just think, hundreds of thousands of people go through those terminals every single day. At least a handful of them have to be cute. And that's how one of our listeners, Logan, met someone recently. One of the. One of the handful of cute people strolling through the airport. Logan, welcome to the show.
Logan
Hey, guys.
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Jose
She and tsa or what happened?
Brooke
You like a lady in uniform? Is that what you're wondering?
Jose
Like, whoops. You need to search me because I'm willing.
Logan
I did not get frisked.
Brooke
Okay, okay. No, you were actually in the airport or you were on the plane?
Logan
No, I was waiting by the gate.
Brooke
Okay. Oh, that makes sense. And you're both leaving the same city, so chances are good that you guys are from the same place.
Jeffrey
And who'd you meet?
Logan
Exactly. So I see her and I, you know, I quickly took inventory of my environment. I was like, oh, there she is. Six o'clock. Got it moved a couple of times. Got to where I was sitting right next to her. So they announced over the speaker that there's gonna be a four hour delay.
Brooke
Oh, my God.
Jeffrey
Oh, God.
Logan
Plane didn't come in.
Brooke
You're the only person exc. This is it.
Logan
You know, I immediately I could hear her mumbling under her breath, like, how unbelievable. And I was like, man, I tell you, these airlines are getting to be a real plane in the neck pocket, dad.
Ellie
Joke.
Logan
Just gambled with it. She ended up laughing really hard.
Jeffrey
Oh, you're saying the joke landed? Yeah.
Logan
Bingo.
Jose
Gonna take off.
Jeffrey
We understand each other, Logan? So she liked the humor. What happened after that?
Logan
So she's like, I don't know how I'm going to kill four hours. And I was like, well, I got a great idea. What we can do is we can head right over to that bar where I am going to buy you a drink.
Jeffrey
Oh, there you go.
Brooke
I like that beer.
Jose
Absolutely, bro.
Brooke
Dude, smooth, my friend.
Logan
I went right in with the card. You know, I'm like, hey, pair of aces. Here we go.
Jeffrey
Yeah, I'm funny and an alcoholic. You, it's your lucky day.
Jose
Yeah, well, it's an airport. You can drink at any time of the day, whenever you want.
Jeffrey
Oh, yeah, it doesn't count when you're at the airport.
Jose
No, it doesn't. Alcoholism doesn't exist.
Brooke
Oh, my God. I bet she's still laughing too, right? Because it's so cheesy.
Logan
Yeah, no, we're having a great time. You know, I'm throwing out some questionable jokes here and there. Like, she had a book that was in her bag that she moved out. And I was like. I was like, oh, you read.
Jeffrey
You can read, huh?
Logan
But she laughed and she's like, yeah, do you. And I'm like, no, not. Not really. You know, not well. Yeah, not too well.
Brooke
Oh, so you guys are really hitting it off.
Logan
Yeah, we're going back and forth. Before I knew it, four hours just flew. Flew by there.
Jeffrey
We're gonna hit our 10 pun quota.
Logan
That wasn't. I swear that wasn't on purpose.
Jeffrey
Natural, man. All right.
Jose
We gotta keep our seats in the upright position for this guy.
Jeffrey
That's a long time to be spending with somebody one on one time. Four whole hours at the airport bar.
Jose
That is true.
Logan
Yes, yes, absolutely. I considered it. Like a little first date.
Brooke
Absolutely. I would too.
Jose
So what were the odds that you two set next to each other on the fly? Probably like zero, right?
Logan
Yeah, we didn't get a chance to do that. We were kind of near each other and there were definitely glances and look.
Jose
Totally.
Logan
So when we get, you know, arrival. Yay. Okay. So nice to meet you. Oh, well, you know, give you a call. Oh, for sure. You know, maybe some. Some dinner.
Brooke
Yeah, you're the first one that's role played.
Logan
This situation we're doing, we're doing a little bit of the nice pleasantry, goodbye. And then of course, the reason I'm on the phone with you guys, I reach out, text a couple times, even a little phone call, nothing in response. He's a hottie. I'm thinking, was she on her little, I'm not at home, I'm not in my own city, I can flirt around with a guy, but maybe I'm in a relationship.
Brooke
How long has it been?
Logan
Oh, it's been a couple of weeks. Here.
Jeffrey
So you hung out with her for four hours and you didn't get a read on whether or not she was single?
Logan
My read was that she was single and that she was available and that she was having a great time with me. I'm just thinking, you know what? I can imagine her acting that way, feeling like no strings attached.
Brooke
I mean, maybe it was just that. I'm not to be mean, but maybe she was just bored.
Jose
Yeah, right.
Brooke
Like, maybe you were reading more into the dating aspect of it than she was.
Logan
Hey, she was cackling. Her laughter hit a certain note.
Brooke
Okay.
Logan
There was a tonality to the laughter that said, I like you.
Jose
You two obviously didn't kiss or anything. Right. Because I have been a big green flag.
Logan
Yeah. No, I didn't. I didn't get to that.
Jose
Okay.
Brooke
Okay. That would have been strange.
Jeffrey
I thought green flag was like an airplane pun, but I guess it's.
Jose
No, no, that would be.
Brooke
They're just rare.
Jose
They don't use flags. They use the little poles that light up. Remember that. That baton.
Jeffrey
I feel like we can't go to the song until we get just one more airline pun.
Brooke
I think we can. I think we could go straight. Let's just take off and get right over to the brook. Did it. You know, that was bad.
Jeffrey
We'll settle for. Anyway, we'll get your second date update and figure out where the turbulence was in this relationship. That's how it's done. Like a pro. Pay attention. Second date update. Next. Second date Update. You know, 99 of the time, your evening would be completely ruined if your plane was held up for over four hours.
Brooke
That's a good point.
Jose
Totally. Maybe the whole trip.
Jeffrey
Yeah. But for one of our listeners, Logan, that wasn't a flight delay. That was a flight delay.
Brooke
I feel like some airline is going to try to market that, and I'm going to hate you for it, because if a flight attendant comes up and.
Jeffrey
Says that Delta, you can have that.
Jose
That's fine.
Jeffrey
We're on a little bit of a da. Yeah, it's just a DA. We should trademark that. But no, Logan's smart. Logan got to spend all that extra time over at the airport bar with a hottie from his flight named Ellie, and the two of them were vibing. She was loving his airplane puns.
Brooke
Oh, my God. And he kept him coming.
Jose
Yeah.
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Even his jokes about being potentially illiterate.
Brooke
She ate it all up.
Jeffrey
It was magic happening. But once the plane boarded after that, she's been kind of hard to reach. Even harder to lock down a date with. Hopefully, though, she answers the phone here and we can actually get you another meetup. Logan, how you feeling, man?
Logan
I'm feeling like you guys are gonna bring me home like this chick. Now. Now, keep in mind, now, this is. This was not a regular girl. This is definite. Definitely a hot, hot girl.
Brooke
Okay, again, like.
Jose
Like a model.
Jeffrey
You mean.
Brooke
You mean to say she was beautiful and her personality really shined.
Logan
Bingo. Exactly.
Jeffrey
Good save.
Logan
The whole package. You know, like, you go on dating apps and you're. You kind of see the leftovers or whatever's there.
Brooke
Yeah, yeah. Got you.
Jeffrey
Logan, just let us do the talking here.
Logan
All right, Got it.
Jeffrey
We're gonna dial her number right now. We'll try and get a second date update. Here we go.
Ellie
Hello?
Jeffrey
Hey, is this Ellie?
Ellie
It is. Yeah.
Jeffrey
Ellie. What's up? You get a lot of calls from morning radio shows?
Ellie
No. Oh, my gosh. Are you guys really. Are you really telling the truth? Are you really a radio show? Morning show?
Jeffrey
Yes, we are.
Brooke
Is that exciting to you?
Ellie
Yes. Yes, yes, yes.
Brooke
This is gonna be easy.
Jeffrey
Got some good news. Cause I'm reaching out to you specifically. Cause we've been talking actually about you all morning long.
Ellie
Is it good? I hope it's good. Like, why would you be talking about me?
Brooke
Really good.
Jeffrey
Oh, yeah. We have somebody who's been gushing about you a little bit on our show.
Ellie
Who? Like. Okay, first of all, is it like one of those shows, like the dating show thingy? Because I love those so much.
Jeffrey
It is.
Jose
Oh, it's a dating thingy.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Ellie
No. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. Hey, who's been talking about.
Jeffrey
You're a lot of energy and that's a good thing.
Brooke
It's surprising to me. I'm so excited when we call you.
Jeffrey
Went out with somebody recently. You know how these date y thingy segments work and they had a good time. You probably know who I'm referring to.
Ellie
Are you guys talking about Mike? Because, yeah, he did go out.
Jeffrey
Yeah. Mike. Yeah. Well, that's who.
Brooke
Huh? Huh? What are you doing?
Jeffrey
Hold on. Give me a second. Mike said some really great stuff about you. Yeah, he mentioned you being very pretty.
Jose
Yeah.
Ellie
Oh, that's so nice.
Jeffrey
Yeah. Brooke, what else did Mike say?
Brooke
Mike?
Jeffrey
Yeah, Brooke, our listener. Yes, Mike.
Brooke
Okay. He said you had a sparkling personality. Sparkling.
Jeffrey
Yes. Thank you.
Ellie
He said that about me? No, I'm so great.
Jose
Oh, yeah.
Jeffrey
I mean, of course he did. I sensed the vibes happening even before we called you.
Brooke
Honestly, how is that even possible?
Jeffrey
I just had a sixth or seventh sense about this.
Brooke
Whatever.
Jeffrey
So many senses that I'm having.
Brooke
Why are we being so weird?
Jeffrey
Well, I'm just. Let's. Maybe we should pivot here and ask you, Ellie. What. What did you think about Mike? Like what. What stood out to you?
Ellie
You know how, like, you have, like, this vision of a guy that you want to take home to your parents.
Jeffrey
Oh, absolutely.
Ellie
Guy that you kind of just talk to your girlfriends without an elementary school of, like, the guy that I want to marry. This is like him. He was amazing. He was so funny, you guys.
Jose
He wasn't that great, was he?
Brooke
Marriage.
Ellie
Yeah, he was great. No, he was really great. And he was like. He was Tall and he was charming.
Jeffrey
Yeah. I mean, we don't. We don't have to go. We don't have to gush too much about Mike. I mean, we all. Don't get me wrong, we all love Mike. Who doesn't?
Ellie
And the fact that he is asking about me makes it even. Like it made my day.
Jeffrey
Yeah. Because, I mean, he wasn't hitting you.
Jose
Up and now he is.
Jeffrey
Right. Yeah. Well, I mean, I'm just. Just based on your. Your sparkling personality and just talking to you a little bit. You sound like you're a really fun time guessing. You probably get hit on a lot.
Ellie
You know, it sounds so, like, conceited to say. Yes, I do. But yes, I do.
Brooke
It's okay. You can own that. That's fine.
Jose
It probably happens on the phone.
Jeffrey
Yeah, with girls like that. It probably happens too. Like random places like when you're at the dry cleaners or like, you know, during a delay at the airport even.
Jose
Oh, yeah, that's a good example.
Ellie
No, no, get this, get this. Get, get, get this. Okay, so the other day, I'm flying out of the airport and like, the flight was delayed, like some stupid, like four.
Jeffrey
Really?
Ellie
Yeah, it was horrible. And this guy, like sitting next to me, he's like, starts talking to me and he's making the stupidest jokes ever. He was so dumb.
Brooke
And then.
Jeffrey
Oh, no.
Ellie
And then he's like, hey, do you want to go to the bar and get some drinks? I'm like, crap, I've got four hours to kill. Why not? So, yeah, we talked and whatever, and I just. But you know what? He paid for the, you know, drinks, which was really nice, actually.
Brooke
Very nice.
Jose
That is overwhelmingly.
Brooke
I bet that guy was pretty funny though, don't you think? He was Kind of funny.
Ellie
I think he thought he was funnier than he actually was. But he paid for the check and he didn't even tip. I mean, he was a bad chipper.
Brooke
Oh, he didn't tip. Okay, that does not look good.
Ellie
Yeah, no, no, no, no.
Jose
Mike actually sounds great.
Brooke
Yeah.
Ellie
So wait, like, is he on the phone right now? Is Mike on the phone?
Peter Tilden
Well.
Jeffrey
Someone is on the phone.
Brooke
This is a bad idea.
Ellie
Yeah. You guys, I'm really confused. What is happening?
Jeffrey
Yeah, so actually, the guy that you were referring to from the airport, the.
Ellie
One with the bad jokes. Yes.
Brooke
Okay, we don't need to do that.
Jeffrey
So he's actually the one that called us to get a second date update with you.
Ellie
No.
Jeffrey
Yeah, Logan is his name. He's on the other line listening right now. Logan.
Logan
Yeah. No, that was a lot. That was more than what I expected to hear, that's for sure.
Jeffrey
No, he's on the phone.
Ellie
That's not fair.
Logan
Yeah, no, I'm here. Like, you can talk directly to me, actually. Hi. So I'm not a tipper. I actually left cash. I didn't tip on my credit card. I left cash because I said the polite thing to do. And I bought Ellie three drinks. One of them was a double. And I also provided fries with extra sauces that also cost extra money.
Jose
I think she remembers.
Brooke
I know he's just trying to save his own ego here. I feel. I think, that he should get that opportunity.
Jeffrey
Yeah, but, Logan, we don't need a breakdown of the bill at dinner.
Logan
It's just funny to me that she was laughing so heartily and then mocks me later, but at the time when she's getting free drinks, I'm the most hilarious guy in the world.
Jose
Oh, yeah, Girls do that.
Brooke
I mean, we're surprised. Puns weren't funny. Just asking, actually.
Ellie
Yeah, you know, actually they weren't funny, but, you know, you kept buying me drinks.
Logan
I said. I said, it's a real. It's a real plane in the neck with these. With these airlines. That's legit funny.
Jeffrey
Yeah, we heard that one already.
Brooke
I think it's fine we laughed. Ellie has a different sense of humor. I mean, maybe that doesn't match well, most hot girls.
Jeffrey
I mean, she's seems to be more on to Mike's type of sense of humor.
Logan
Can we stop talking about Mike for a second?
Ellie
We talked about Mike for a second. I'm so sorry, Logan.
Brooke
No, I honestly thought that maybe I forgot Logan's name. And his name was Mike when you started talking about him, like, that's what I was hoping. Remember? I just. I wanted Logan to be Mike. For you and for Logan. Both of you. For both of you.
Logan
So hold on, hold on, hold on. I'm gathering that everybody on this phone call is interested in Mike, but nobody's interested in me? Is that.
Jose
No, bro, get.
Brooke
I'm.
Jose
I'm Team Logan. Get you a Logan. Ladies.
Logan
Thank you.
Jeffrey
I'm kind of coming over to Mike's.
Brooke
Side all of a sudden. Charming. It's the puns.
Jeffrey
No, no, no. It's Logan. Logan. Logan is the guy that's on the phone, and he's the one that we'd like to send you out on another date with. And we'll pay for that date and we'll throw in a generous tip on top of it.
Brooke
Hey, hey. And think about it. He really did tip. He didn't. He tried to be funny, which is meaning he put effort forth. I think he deserves another shot.
Jose
I'm with Brooke.
Ellie
You know what? He was nice enough us at the bar, but you know what happens when you drink. You have a rose colored glasses on. I think that's what was happening.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Brooke
Insult to injury.
Jeffrey
I guess the silver lining is we've learned there is a person out there for everyone. And that person for everyone is Mike. We love you, Mike. Call into the show. We want to meet you.
Logan
Crash and burn. I got it.
Brooke
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Jeffrey
You know, we never asked, but I'm just assuming Ellie hooked up with Mike.
Brooke
Oh, you think that they hooked up?
Jeffrey
Oh, I mean, just from the sound of her voice, like she was glowing over the phone, like smiling just at the thought of his face and laughing just at the thought of his jokes.
Jose
Vibe was like, I never thought I'd hear from him again.
Brooke
I think it was a one night stand. Why? Why would Mike need us? Yeah, didn't Ellie ever stop and think about that? But Jeffrey, I can't believe you went along with it. I thought I was going crazy for a second.
Jeffrey
I'm like, I was like, I mean, we should figure out who this guy is rather than just correcting her and being like, no, no, no, not him.
Jose
Yeah, but the more she said about Mike, the more the worse Logan must have been feeling.
Brooke
Added the story about Logan.
Jose
Oh yeah, that was the cringe part.
Brooke
I don't think he's ever going to listen to this on podcast.
Jeffrey
I want to turn it into a positive. And maybe what we really should have done is we should have asked her if she wants us to call Mike for her for a second date update.
Jose
We should.
Jeffrey
I know that'd be a little bit weird, but maybe we accidentally ran into a second date sitch.
Brooke
I feel like it's backstabbing to Logan, but I mean, I'm here for it.
Jose
You know, how ironic if Mike's like, she's just not funny.
Brooke
Yeah. You know, well, she wasn't.
Jeffrey
I feel like it's our duty though to reach back out to Ellie and say, look, if Mike doesn't call you in the next 24 hours, have us reach out to him for you. Cuz she was a listener too. And we're desperately in need of content.
Brooke
We have loyalty to no one.
Jeffrey
No, we don't.
Brooke
So we apologize.
Jeffrey
Except to ourselves. So if you have loyalty to us too, you can always email us. We'll call the person who isn't calling you back get you a little second date Update Action.

Podcast Summary: Brooke and Jeffrey: Second Date Update – "Plane In The Neck"
Release Date: January 6, 2025
Host: Brooke and Jeffrey
Platform: iHeartPodcasts
In the episode titled "Plane In The Neck," hosts Brooke and Jeffrey delve into the intricate dynamics of post-first-date interactions, specifically addressing the phenomenon of being ghosted after a promising encounter. This episode centers around listener Logan's experience of meeting Ellie during an unexpected flight delay, their ensuing connection, and the subsequent challenges Logan faces in securing a second date.
The episode kicks off with Brooke welcoming listener Logan, who shares his recent encounter with Ellie at the airport. Logan recounts how a four-hour flight delay provided the perfect backdrop for meeting someone new.
Logan describes his attempt to break the ice with Ellie using humor, specifically airplane puns, and how this approach initially elicited positive reactions.
Brooke and Jeffrey express amusement and support for Logan's proactive approach, encouraging his efforts to create a memorable first impression.
As the conversation progresses, Logan details how he and Ellie spent the four-hour delay together, bonding over shared jokes and mutual interests. He mentions buying her drinks and engaging in light-hearted banter, which seemed to solidify their initial connection.
Jeffrey humorously notes their linguistic puns and the friendly atmosphere that developed between them during the extended wait.
Despite the enjoyable time they shared, Logan faces challenges in maintaining communication with Ellie post-encounter. He reaches out multiple times—texts and calls—but receives no response, leaving him uncertain about Ellie's intentions.
Brooke empathizes with Logan's predicament, suggesting that Ellie's laughter and demeanor might have masked her true feelings or intentions.
Determined to rekindle the connection, Brooke and Jeffrey decide to take matters into their own hands by reaching out directly to Ellie. They initiate a phone call, hoping to facilitate a second date update.
This leads to a humorous and somewhat chaotic interaction where Ellie initially believes the call is part of a radio show promotion. The conversation takes an unexpected turn as Ellie references another individual named Mike, creating confusion.
Logan quickly clarifies the mix-up, asserting his identity and intentions.
Despite the initial confusion, Brooke and Jeffrey persist in their efforts to assist Logan, offering to facilitate another meeting with Ellie and even proposing to sponsor the date.
The episode wraps up with Brooke and Jeffrey reflecting on the challenges of modern dating, the perils of relying solely on first impressions, and the importance of clear communication post-encounter. They emphasize that while genuine connections can be fleeting, persistence and authenticity are key to overcoming obstacles like ghosting.
Jeffrey concludes with a hopeful note, encouraging listeners to reach out for assistance in navigating their own post-first-date dilemmas.
