Brooke
It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning, and you've listened to us all year long.
Alexis
Yes. Thank you.
Brooke
That's why, just to punish you a little bit more, we're doing a countdown of the top 10 second date updates.
Alexis
Oh, man, I think this is so fun. And I love to see people's comments on, like, Spotify, because that's the only platform that you can comment on. Very good. But I love to see what you think the next one's going to be.
Brooke
Follow and subscribe so you don't miss any of our second dates. And let us know in the comments which ones you think should be ranked. Today we're doing number nine, which is titled Todd the Bod.
Alexis
I mean, the title says it all, doesn't it, with the.
Brooke
Yeah, with a nickname like that, he must just be a great guy. Yeah. Yeah.
Alexis
So many options.
Brooke
Let's listen in your number nine, second date update. Second date update. Not too long ago, Brooke taught me a very valuable lesson on etiquette.
Alexis
Okay, what was it?
Brooke
She taught me that when you go to a party.
Alexis
Yeah.
Brooke
The number one rule is do not show up on time because that makes you look lame.
Alexis
Well, not just that, but like, the host. Like, I'm always running late. Like, I hate when people get there. You don't want people there right away. No, I haven't finished throwing everything in the closet before you got to my house.
Brooke
You need to show up late. 30 minutes, an hour. That's good. So I'm assuming the same rule applies to a first date?
Alexis
No.
Brooke
Don't show up on time, or else you'll look like some desperate loser who has absolutely nothing going on.
Alexis
See, this is why you don't get social etiquette.
Brooke
And that's why one of our listeners, Todd, lives by Brooks motto, because he was not on time. And translation, he cool.
Alexis
No.
Brooke
What's up, cool Todd?
Todd
Hey, hey, hey. What's happening?
Alexis
Wait, are you. Are you remorseful that you were late? Todd?
Todd
A little bit.
Brooke
But you cool people aren't remorseful. Brooke.
Todd
Oh, yeah. I had another beautiful attendee at my residence, if you know what I mean.
Brooke
Oh, wow.
Alexis
You double booked yourself for the same night. I mean, bold move, friend.
Brooke
Sounds to me like he had a holdover from the night before.
Alexis
Oh, is that what it was?
Todd
Kind of got A little lost in the sauce and I just lost track of time. But, you know, listen, this is not about that, okay?
Alexis
Yeah, I mean, it could be, if that's the reason you gave your date, that you relate.
Brooke
Did you say that to her, Todd?
Todd
No. Did you say that to her? No. Don't say that.
Alexis
I don't even know her name yet.
Brooke
Todd, who are we talking about?
Todd
The beautiful Monica. Oh, my God.
Brooke
Monica.
Todd
Now, listen, was I remorseful just a tad when I got there and I saw how beautiful she was? This is the lady that you're on time for. Okay?
Alexis
Okay. But you weren't the ugly people you're not on time for is.
Brooke
So how late did you show up to Monica's date?
Todd
I'm gonna say about 45 minutes late.
Brooke
Oh, dude, you're lucky she was still there. It's under an hour. It's forgivable. You can blame it on traffic at least. You're the worst standards, bro.
Todd
That was one of the excuses that I threw out there. You know, some family issues, different things.
Alexis
You know, whatever sticks. Where were you meeting Monica?
Todd
I don't really want to disclose that, but I did meet her on Tinder.
Alexis
Why don't you want to say where you were meeting?
Brooke
You don't have to say, like, the exact name of the place, but a general, you know, business.
Todd
We were there for brunch.
Brooke
A restaurant.
Todd
Yeah, let's do that. A restaurant.
Alexis
Let's do that.
Brooke
Okay.
Todd
I just don't want to give out too many details in the event that this doesn't go well. You know, my other attendee, she's still fine. Okay. I just want to make sure we keeping everything in line here. All right.
Brooke
All right. You got the first girl on backup just in case the second date doesn't work out.
Todd
You know how it is, right?
Brooke
Yeah, sure. Well, let's focus on Monica, though. Tell us about how brunch went. It already is not going well.
Todd
Well, you know, it was great. I mean, we had some conversations, a little bit about life, but I just wanted to tell her about my truck. My truck is red, beautiful rims. The interior is leather. Right.
Brooke
I don't know how many wheels on that truck.
Todd
There's four of them. Whoa.
Alexis
You would think he has an 18 wheeler.
Brooke
Lana's got all four of them. Dude, red.
Alexis
I understand these guys are kind of like, you know, letting you talk about the truck, but was Monica interested in that at all?
Todd
No, not at all.
Alexis
I'm glad you're aware.
Todd
We did. Yeah, we did get to the fact that not only is she beautiful, but she has artistic skills. She's an interior designer.
Alexis
Oh, you finally asked her about herself. Good job.
Todd
I mean, well, I didn't really ask. She told me about it.
Brooke
Wow. Women. Always trying to, like, talk at you.
Alexis
I just want you to ask them.
Todd
Yeah, so I suggested, listen, you do interior decorating, my apartment.
Alexis
No.
Todd
Need some interior decorations.
Alexis
You made her work, so you wanted to get free work out of her even.
Todd
Listen, I thought that that was interesting.
Brooke
Well, if she's truly passionate about what she does, she'd probably enjoy doing that for you.
Todd
No?
Alexis
What did she say? Did she do it?
Todd
Well, she did come through and take a look, which was to my surprise. Well, not really, because they call me Todd the Bot. Right.
Brooke
This is what I'm guessing the first girl was already gone by that time. Or was she hiding somewhere?
Todd
So why do you think I was 45 minutes late? But I had to make sure everything was clear just in case something like this happened.
Brooke
All right. Todd with a Bot also has a brain. It's good.
Alexis
What was Monica's reaction when she walked into your apartment?
Todd
Well, I did see her eyes open up a little bit to see how clean it was. You know, I don't know what kind of guy she deal, but I didn't know that my Lazy Boy chair that I love so much, she didn't really take to that too well. I didn't like that.
Alexis
Well, I mean, you're asking for an interior designer, right? Not a comfort expert.
Todd
Yeah, well, she needs to know where these things belong. Okay, this is really, like a part of me. I've had it since college. Right.
Alexis
So you wait. Okay, so you went ahead and argued with her about her opinion on what you should have in your apartment after you.
Todd
No, no, no, no, no. I didn't do any argument.
Alexis
Oh.
Todd
I just really wanted her to of the La Z Boy. So I had to sit down and, you know, I got a little close and wanted to see where things would go. But she wasn't with that. She. She kept it professional. Right.
Brooke
Is it my understanding that you tried to put the moves on her while she was in the La Z Boy?
Todd
Yeah. And those moves usually work. You know, the Lazy Boy when I lean it back. Right?
Alexis
Yeah, I can see it.
Todd
After that, she just kind of got up and left. And I'm like, what? I mean, what happened, bro?
Brooke
After telling your story, did you feel like maybe you didn't spend enough attention on her?
Todd
And I mean, I, you know, I asked her about her hair and nails.
Alexis
Why have a Personality when we have hair and nails.
Brooke
Thank you. Thank you for saying that, Brooke. Finally. It's nice that you actually.
Alexis
Yeah. All right, so you like her, though? You want to go out with her more than once?
Brooke
Yeah.
Todd
I thought she was beautiful.
Alexis
Okay.
Brooke
You have to have more than just you're pretty to have chemistry with somebody, brother. You have to be able to back.
Todd
And forth, and we talked. She does great work. She showed me an Instagram with the design stuff.
Brooke
And remember, this segment isn't about, like, setting up lifelong loves. It's about getting a second date. That's all that we're trying to do.
Todd
So I love to have lifelong love with her, I'll tell you that.
Brooke
Yeah, in the back of your truck, even, Maybe. So let's see what we can do.
Todd
For you in the front even, too.
Brooke
Let's put the lazy boy in that bed and really go to work. But we're gonna come back and we'll call Monica and get you your second date update. All right, Todd the Bod, let's do it. All right, hold on. Second date update. Big trucks, hearty brunch, and lazy boys that recline all the way back. It's the ideal first date for a guy for sure.
Alexis
Okay.
Brooke
But not sure how the ladies would feel about something like that.
Alexis
I mean, we didn't ask.
Brooke
We was just saying not sure. Yeah, that's how our.
Alexis
I mean, think. That's the point. You didn't ask Monica either.
Brooke
He didn't. Anyway, that is how our listener, Todd the Bod rolled during his first date with Monica. Thing is, he is man enough to admit mistakes were made. Yeah.
Alexis
Did he actually say that? I don't know if I heard that. I thought he said he was, like, a little bit regretful about having the other woman at his house before she showed up.
Brooke
That's a big ask for a man to admit that he's a little bit regretful. Give him some credit. He's also man enough to have a radio show help him out with his dating life. Brooke, is there any anything else that you want to tell Todd before we call Monica here?
Alexis
You know, Todd, you say that you are really interested in her. She is a beautiful woman. It just feels like maybe you need to be more in tune with her needs. Can you even ask a question? Yeah, sure, Alexis. That could be a good start. Can you do that, you think, Todd?
Brooke
Sorry, Todd. I mean this to be an intervention.
Alexis
Yeah, we're just trying to help you.
Todd
Any attention from the ladies is good, you know, I mean, I take the coaching. Ladies I appreciate that.
Alexis
Okay, so you think I like that? Somebody who can listen to some constructive criticism. That's good. This is a good step.
Todd
Just for a few minutes, though. You guys go on and on.
Brooke
Seriously, Brooke.
Alexis
Okay, let's wrap this up.
Brooke
All right, let's wrap it up. And let's call Monica and see what she has to say. Try and get you a second date. You ready, Todd?
Todd
Let's do it.
Brooke
All right, here we go.
Monica
Hello.
Brooke
Hey, is this Monica?
Monica
This is Monica.
Brooke
Sorry to lean back and relax a little bit. Is this Monica? Are you a lazy chair?
Alexis
You trying to be more manly right now?
Brooke
What are you just trying to play it cool?
Alexis
You're like, man spreading.
Brooke
What's up, Monica over there.
Alexis
Hi, Monica.
Brooke
I can't see you, bro.
Monica
Hi. What's going on?
Brooke
You're on the coolest radio show in town.
Alexis
Wow, that makes us sound good.
Brooke
That was so great. You know what show that would be, Monica? Don't make her answer.
Monica
I have no clue, and I'm a little nervous.
Brooke
She's playing it coy. I feel you, Monica, but you're on with Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning right now.
Monica
What are you. Okay. Hi, guys. What's. What's going on?
Brooke
Drop the mic on that one.
Alexis
Okay. Hi, Monica. We just have some questions for you if you have some time.
Brooke
Question 1. How do you feel about trucks? Oh, my gosh.
Monica
They're fine.
Brooke
Okay, question two. At least she's in a good mood. How do you feel about one of our listeners, Todd, who you ran out on a date with recently?
Monica
Oh, sweet Todd.
Alexis
You called him sweet. That would never be adjective. Poor Todd.
Brooke
Poor Todd. Okay, we're doing something with him called a second date update. And he's trying to figure out why you two haven't reconnected for a second date.
Monica
There is so many things. The day was okay. There were some really good, sweet things. You know, like he pulled out the chair.
Brooke
He's too chivalrous for you.
Monica
But he was late. He was super late for the day. And I waited for a really long time.
Alexis
I can't believe you were waiting that long. Did you think in that 45 minutes that he ditched you?
Monica
Absolutely. I just was like, well, I'm just going to have a drink at the bar or whatever. Like, I might as well enjoy my. Like, start my afternoon off right after being set up. That's what I thought.
Brooke
Okay, well, and Todd did mention to us that he was really late. And he says he feels very, very remorseful about that. Did he? Well, let's Just tell him.
Monica
And he did. He did at the time. I mean, I'm an interior designer. I can't be late to jobs.
Brooke
Right.
Monica
And because of that, that carries into all my day, so I'm never late for anything. But I still went for it and was like, let me give him the benefit of the doubt.
Brooke
And it sounds like it must have been pretty good because the two of you ended up back at his place.
Alexis
Do people always ask you for help when you tell them you're an interior designer?
Monica
They do. And I don't mind offering up help for that. Like, it's. It's a gift, Right. I have an iPhone.
Alexis
You like it? Okay.
Monica
I don't mind sharing. So when he said, oh, I have my apartment needs to be redecorated, like, I was weary because, you know, guys will say that and just want to get you to the house. Like, let me go and give him the benefit of the doubt.
Alexis
Interesting. I don't know why you would do that, but. Okay.
Monica
I. You know, I. I definitely didn't. It definitely changed once I got there.
Alexis
Okay.
Brooke
That's what I think. That's what we're almost interested in. Like, what was it about being at his place that kind of turned you off if you were turned off?
Monica
Well, it was. It was fine. We were just. He was showing me the room and talking about the things he wanted to do, and they changed in the rooms, and. And then he started talking about his La Z Boy chair. And I was like, okay, I'm not a fan of lazy boys. But he was like, do you like it? And I was like, sure, it's nice. I didn't want to offend him. And then he started petting my hair, and he was like, I bet you. And it started getting really. Yeah.
Alexis
Well, you said for yourself right before, like, 30 seconds ago, that this is what you knew was going to happen, but you wanted to do some benefit of the doubt thing.
Monica
Yes. And, I mean, I didn't feel unsafe. I kind of just, like, awkwardly got up and, like, trying to get myself some space. And then he started talking about how he needs a new roommate. And, like, if you ever need one. I do need a roommate. I'm looking for a new one. And I was. At that point, I was just. I was like, you know what? It's getting. I have some things I gotta do. And I left.
Alexis
So it sounds like you. I mean, you were attracted to Todd. You liked Todd. It just got too intense, too much, too soon.
Monica
Yeah.
Brooke
Oh, well, I don't want to. I hope you can handle just a little bit more because hot Todd with a bot is actually on the other line right now and wants to talk to you. Oh, no.
Alexis
You didn't say anything mean.
Todd
Hey, Veronica, my love. How you doing?
Monica
Oh, my love.
Alexis
She just said it was too much. Todd, don't come in with me.
Todd
My love. Hey, how you doing, love hearing that sweet little voice of yours. But I did overhear some.
Brooke
The voice is great. Todd, were you hearing the words? That was coming from the voice.
Todd
I mean, it's just sweet music every time she speaks. So, yes.
Monica
You know, I'm gonna have to just say this is. I thought that me ignoring your phone calls and texts was enough for you to get the point. Like, it did not go well.
Todd
No, that's not well.
Monica
This is not.
Todd
No. Just needed to refresh, you know? And I know.
Monica
It seems like you're one of those guys as well. You don't take no for an answer.
Todd
Well, you know, I think the chemistry that we had, you know, you came over.
Monica
Yeah, the chemistry was misread.
Todd
Monica, baby, listen, baby.
Alexis
Oh, Monica, I think.
Todd
Todd, what's going on here? I was starting to let you know you have to understand when you have a great opportunity here. Listen, Todd the bot might add.
Alexis
Are you selling a truck or are you selling yourself?
Monica
I have no idea.
Todd
How many guys do you meet that has such a great interior like that? I mean, like, I got my initials in the headrest right when I put it in there. Right?
Brooke
That is pretty cool, though. Initials on the headrest. Monica, you don't want to look back on this with regret.
Monica
I am already regretting Ang answering and staying on this phone call, y'all.
Alexis
I don't blame you.
Todd
Why?
Brooke
All right, Todd, Todd, Todd, we need you to take a break. We need you to. Todd. I'm Todd. Todd, bro. Todd, we need you to take a break from talking and just listen for a second, okay? Because I need to ask. Monica, would you like to go out with Todd for a once in a life? Hold on, Todd. Hold on, Todd. Monica, I want you to picture yourself leaning slowly back in a very comfortable, lazy boy, very old, and having the best night of your life with Todd?
Monica
Never.
Alexis
Okay? Do you understand that? Todd?
Todd
Monica, babe, we can get through this. This is a hiccup.
Alexis
Oh, my God.
Brooke
Stop. Todd.
Monica
Okay, your number is going to be blocked on my phone. Please do not call me again.
Todd
Monica, these people get up too early in the morning. They're not really in their right mind.
Brooke
So, Mon, sounding to me like Monica just missed out on another Day with the world's most interesting man.
Alexis
Is that what it sounds like to you?
Brooke
That's how we're gonna spin it today.
Alexis
If your truck is the most interesting part of you, I don't think that you lazy boys.
Brooke
The most interesting part.
Todd
I'm not. I. I don't really think that was funny, guys.
Brooke
It didn't work out for you this time, Todd, but maybe next time. And you always have the first girl. That's right.
Todd
Hey, guys. I mean, where's the bro code? Is there any bro code?
Brooke
I'm sorry. Oh, I'm sorry. After you brought it up, I thought it was cool.
Todd
Let me get out of here.
Brooke
You're right. You know what? This was my bad. That was my fault. I'm sorry. Hang your head. Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. That second date update made me think of, you know that famous saying, if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
Alexis
It's a terrible saying.
Brooke
For this Jeff, Todd added like, 1800 tries after the first three. Try and try and try.
Alexis
I love our listeners. Todd. I don't know. I don't know. I like hot jerks.
Brooke
But no, I don't think he's a listener in general. He just.
Alexis
That's a good point.
Brooke
We just play in the background and he has no idea what we're saying. He's just like, I love these guys, but there is something to be said about a man who knows what he wants.
Alexis
Is there? Why are you still trying to find? I'm just.
Brooke
I don't know. Todd obviously does have some work to do on himself. Yeah, if he could just shut up for two seconds. Yeah, he might actually learn something.
Alexis
I mean, maybe there's a woman who doesn't like to talk that will find him.
Brooke
Well, there was a girl with them the night before.
Alexis
Yeah, I don't think they were talking. Maybe that's where the secret lies for Todd.
Brooke
Just get right to business. But if you ever want to get a second date update, remember, you can always email the show. We'll call the person who isn't calling you back. Find all the second date updates on our podcast.
Alexis
