The number one rule is do not show up on time because that makes you look lame.

Well, not just that, but like, the host. Like, I'm always running late. Like, I hate when people get there. You don't want people there right away. No, I haven't finished throwing everything in the closet before you got to my house.

You need to show up late. 30 minutes, an hour. That's good. So I'm assuming the same rule applies to a first date?

[Alexis]

No.

[Brooke]

Don't show up on time, or else you'll look like some desperate loser who has absolutely nothing going on.

That was one of the excuses that I threw out there. You know, some family issues, different things.

I don't really want to disclose that, but I did meet her on Tinder.

You don't have to say, like, the exact name of the place, but a general, you know, business.

We were there for brunch.

Yeah, sure. Well, let's focus on Monica, though. Tell us about how brunch went. It already is not going well.

Well, you know, it was great. I mean, we had some conversations, a little bit about life, but I just wanted to tell her about my truck. My truck is red, beautiful rims. The interior is leather. Right.

[Brooke]

I don't know how many wheels on that truck.

[Todd]

There's four of them. Whoa.

[Alexis]

You would think he has an 18 wheeler.

[Brooke]

Lana's got all four of them. Dude, red.

I understand these guys are kind of like, you know, letting you talk about the truck, but was Monica interested in that at all?

No, not at all.

We did. Yeah, we did get to the fact that not only is she beautiful, but she has artistic skills. She's an interior designer.

I mean, well, I didn't really ask. She told me about it.

Yeah, so I suggested, listen, you do interior decorating, my apartment.

Well, if she's truly passionate about what she does, she'd probably enjoy doing that for you.

Well, she did come through and take a look, which was to my surprise. Well, not really, because they call me Todd the Bot. Right.

This is what I'm guessing the first girl was already gone by that time. Or was she hiding somewhere?

So why do you think I was 45 minutes late? But I had to make sure everything was clear just in case something like this happened.

[Brooke]

All right. Todd with a Bot also has a brain. It's good.

What was Monica's reaction when she walked into your apartment?

[Todd]

Well, I did see her eyes open up a little bit to see how clean it was. You know, I don't know what kind of guy she deal, but I didn't know that my Lazy Boy chair that I love so much, she didn't really take to that too well. I didn't like that.

[Alexis]

Well, I mean, you're asking for an interior designer, right? Not a comfort expert.

[Todd]

Yeah, well, she needs to know where these things belong. Okay, this is really, like a part of me. I've had it since college. Right.

[Alexis]

So you wait. Okay, so you went ahead and argued with her about her opinion on what you should have in your apartment after you.

[Todd]

No, no, no, no, no. I didn't do any argument.

[Alexis]

Oh.

[Todd]

I just really wanted her to of the La Z Boy. So I had to sit down and, you know, I got a little close and wanted to see where things would go. But she wasn't with that. She. She kept it professional. Right.

[Brooke]

Is it my understanding that you tried to put the moves on her while she was in the La Z Boy?

[Todd]

Yeah. And those moves usually work. You know, the Lazy Boy when I lean it back. Right?

[Alexis]

Yeah, I can see it.

[Todd]

After that, she just kind of got up and left. And I'm like, what? I mean, what happened, bro?

[Brooke]

After telling your story, did you feel like maybe you didn't spend enough attention on her?

[Todd]

And I mean, I, you know, I asked her about her hair and nails.

[Alexis]

Why have a Personality when we have hair and nails.

[Brooke]

There is so many things. The day was okay. There were some really good, sweet things. You know, like he pulled out the chair.

He's too chivalrous for you.

[Monica]

But he was late. He was super late for the day. And I waited for a really long time.

[Alexis]

I can't believe you were waiting that long. Did you think in that 45 minutes that he ditched you?

[Monica]

Absolutely. I just was like, well, I'm just going to have a drink at the bar or whatever. Like, I might as well enjoy my. Like, start my afternoon off right after being set up. That's what I thought.

[Brooke]

Okay, well, and Todd did mention to us that he was really late. And he says he feels very, very remorseful about that. Did he? Well, let's Just tell him.

[Monica]

And he did. He did at the time. I mean, I'm an interior designer. I can't be late to jobs.

[Brooke]

Right.

[Monica]

And because of that, that carries into all my day, so I'm never late for anything. But I still went for it and was like, let me give him the benefit of the doubt.

And it sounds like it must have been pretty good because the two of you ended up back at his place.

[Alexis]

Do people always ask you for help when you tell them you're an interior designer?

[Monica]

They do. And I don't mind offering up help for that. Like, it's. It's a gift, Right. I have an iPhone.

[Monica]

I don't mind sharing. So when he said, oh, I have my apartment needs to be redecorated, like, I was weary because, you know, guys will say that and just want to get you to the house. Like, let me go and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Interesting. I don't know why you would do that, but. Okay.

[Monica]

I. You know, I. I definitely didn't. It definitely changed once I got there.

That's what I think. That's what we're almost interested in. Like, what was it about being at his place that kind of turned you off if you were turned off?

[Monica]

Well, it was. It was fine. We were just. He was showing me the room and talking about the things he wanted to do, and they changed in the rooms, and. And then he started talking about his La Z Boy chair. And I was like, okay, I'm not a fan of lazy boys. But he was like, do you like it? And I was like, sure, it's nice. I didn't want to offend him. And then he started petting my hair, and he was like, I bet you. And it started getting really. Yeah.

Well, you said for yourself right before, like, 30 seconds ago, that this is what you knew was going to happen, but you wanted to do some benefit of the doubt thing.

[Monica]

Yes. And, I mean, I didn't feel unsafe. I kind of just, like, awkwardly got up and, like, trying to get myself some space. And then he started talking about how he needs a new roommate. And, like, if you ever need one. I do need a roommate. I'm looking for a new one. And I was. At that point, I was just. I was like, you know what? It's getting. I have some things I gotta do. And I left.

So it sounds like you. I mean, you were attracted to Todd. You liked Todd. It just got too intense, too much, too soon.

[Monica]

Yeah.
