Hey, welcome to a brand new second date update podcast today. Thanks so much for being here with Sprig and Jeffrey in the morning. And you know, normally I like to ask a question, but this one I think is already going to just garner feelings. A lot of comments.
Brooke
Yeah, let it do its thing on this one.
Jose
Yeah, that's it, Jose. That's exactly it. So let's get to comments that we have had today. Alexis, what are you seeing that you like? Yeah, I saw Cibeso. Cibeso said, I love the smell of Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Brooke
What do we smell?
Jose
I don't know what that would be. You know what? Someone who finally appreciates my oyster casserole life.
Brooke
It's a little musty.
Jose
Is that what you meant? I don't know. That's what they meant. All right, let's get this podcast started.
Jeffrey
Second date update. Meeting somebody that you're interested in at a friend's birthday party.
Jose
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Sounds kind of fun to me.
Jose
Yeah, for sure. What a great place to meet.
Jeffrey
That's actually our listener story today for how they met. I've actually met somebody that same way.
Jose
Really? Who?
Jeffrey
Now keep in mind, I was inside the cake at the time you're gonna pop, ready to pop out. And this party was kind of like a group birthday sort of thing.
Jose
Is there another person in the cake with you, Jeff?
Jeffrey
No, but I woke up very sore the next morning from crouching inside that cake for so long. But you know what? Enough about me and my story. Let's talk to our listener, Paul. Paul, were you inside of a cake too?
Paul
I was not inside of a cake.
Jose
Wow, that sounds like a boring party.
Brooke
What was it like a flan?
Jeffrey
We don't know. We want to know, like what was this birthday? How did you meet this person? Let's hear the whole story.
Paul
Yeah, so went to a mutual friend's birthday. That's really not important. But I. I saw a girl there.
Brooke
I think it is actually. Because if you're at a friend's birthday, you know, a lot of people, there's mutuals there. It's different if it's a randos party.
Jose
And what I'm curious about is, did your friends alert you that there would be a cute single that you were gonna meet?
Paul
No.
Jose
Okay, okay, okay.
Brooke
It was more of a great picture.
Jose
This is all on you.
Jeffrey
It's more of a natural meeting.
Brooke
Okay.
Jeffrey
All right, so tell us, what's the name of this girl that you thought was so attractive?
Paul
Her name is Stacy.
Jose
Stacy.
Paul
And I would not describe her as a conventional beauty, but she is a person who's extremely striking.
Jose
I can't tell if this is a compliment or.
Brooke
It dabbles, like, almost a combo.
Jose
Yeah.
Brooke
And then it's like a rugged face or. What did you call it?
Jose
I mean, why do you say.
Brooke
Feel like you're like, a handsome squirrel?
Jose
Like, why even add that into the conversation that it's not conventionally beautiful? Why would you even say that?
Brooke
It is bad the more I say.
Paul
Yeah, how I would describe her.
Brooke
Okay, maybe he means, like, she's not his type, but she was pretty.
Jose
Okay, and so how did you start a conversation with her?
Paul
Well, I just went up and started talking to her about her outfit, because while it wasn't risque or anything, it was stylish.
Brooke
These comments, was it, like, a dress Bromper?
Jose
Do you normally meet, like, models in bikinis places?
Paul
No, no, no. But again, it was a friend's birthday party, so I showed up in T shirts and jeans, and there she was in this, like, very slim, beautiful outfit. She looked like she could be selling cigarettes in the 1930s.
Brooke
Again, not sure if this is a compliment. You have a way with cigarettes.
Jose
Cigars.
Jeffrey
So she's wearing something that no other woman in their right mind would wear.
Jose
But unless it was the 1930s.
Paul
Yeah, you guys are painting it in a negative light.
Jeffrey
Oh, we are.
Jose
We're just teasing you.
Brooke
So she's wearing a flapper?
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Jose
Tell us more about the hangout.
Paul
Well, talking to her. She's obviously a person who gets a lot of male attention, and that wasn't.
Jose
Obvious to me based on the.
Brooke
Really wasn't.
Jeffrey
Okay, but. Okay, is this considered your date?
Paul
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I got. I got her Instagram handle, and then I slid into her DMs.
Jose
Okay, okay, so you didn't ask her out just then. You asked her out later.
Paul
Exactly.
Jeffrey
Okay, okay, so tell us about the date where you guys met up.
Paul
The day was great. We went out for Thai. We had good food. I continued to ask her questions about her incredible fashion sense, because, again, she showed up in Another unconventional outfit.
Brooke
Is she a stylist or something?
Jose
I'm just trying to think it was, like, bootcut jeans at this point.
Brooke
It's not a crazy. Yeah, she's like, I'm wearing a dress.
Jose
Did she like you complimenting her on her fashion style?
Paul
Absolutely. It's obvious. She takes a lot of time and preparation and presenting how she looks, and it's incredible. It is really amazing to see.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Jose
And, you know.
Jeffrey
And you know, a lot of women spend, like, a lot of time before a day getting themselves ready, making sure they look really good. So I'm sure she felt scene.
Paul
Well, exactly. She said that fashion was her passion. I like that saying.
Jose
God, it sounds like a bumper sticker, doesn't it? Yeah.
Paul
So she talked on and on about that, and that was great.
Jose
Okay.
Paul
And at one point, the conversation. Beard. We realized that we were both conspiracy nuts, which is how bizarre.
Brooke
Is that fun.
Jose
Wait, you believe in them or you just like to know about them?
Brooke
Just like to talk about them.
Paul
I would say we like to talk about them. But specifically, do you guys know the movie Room 237? No.
Jose
Is it a horror film or something? It sounds like it.
Paul
No, it's a documentary about the Shining, but. Oh, there's a bunch of conspiracy theories about the movie.
Jose
Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. So that was a big point of conversation for you, too, because you'd both seen this.
Paul
Exactly.
Jose
Okay.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Jose
Interesting topics, though. You know, it's not just weather or. What do you do for work?
Brooke
You guys can watch a movie and by the end, be like, okay, we got the treasure map. I think we figured it out.
Jeffrey
Really sexy. Setting the mood. So how did you two end the date?
Paul
That was me. Probably the only awkward part, because when the check came, I made a stupid joke about how she would have to Venmo me. And then she gave me a really, like, dirty look, and I was like, I was kidding. I was kidding.
Brooke
Yeah.
Jeffrey
Oh, no.
Jose
Did she actually venmo you?
Paul
No, no, no, no, no. Again, I stressed that I was only kidding. That was the only hiccup, and we had a great meal. I drove her home, I kissed her on the cheek, and haven't really gotten that many decks from her since.
Jose
Okay, so there's been some communication. Were you aiming for the cheek or the lips? And she turned.
Paul
I would have taken the lips, but I wanted to play it safe. It was her first.
Brooke
Okay, That's a cute move, man.
Jeffrey
All right, so how long has it been since that date happened?
Paul
Almost a week.
Jose
All right.
Brooke
And nothing like she hasn't texted you I'm busy or anything.
Paul
It's very, like, one word answers, so. No.
Brooke
The vibe's off. You can always tell.
Jose
Yeah. What do you think?
Paul
I think she's unconventional, so who knows? I just want to see if you guys can get her to text me back.
Jose
Okay.
Jeffrey
Okay.
Brooke
We're gonna call this unconventional woman. I'm excited. What if she talks unconventional?
Jose
This is an unconventional way to go about getting another.
Jeffrey
That's for sure. So we're gonna reach out to Stacy for you in just a few minutes and find out. Does she have a reason, or is some sort of conspiracy afoot here? Hopefully it's the first. We're gonna do it with your second date update right after this. Hold on. Second d. Date. If you missed the first part of our second date, we learned a new way to compliment a woman is to call her an unconventional beauty.
Jose
You know, it's. It's really, honestly, a good compliment. It was just the way he was saying it.
Brooke
Felt the word unconventional, like, you are so sexy. Unconventionally just doesn't.
Jeffrey
It was a little bit confusing. But we think it was supposed to be a compliment from our listener Paul, who was. He was enamored by Stacy and her unique sense of style, along with her unconventional looks.
Jose
Yes.
Jeffrey
That most men might not gravitate towards, but one in a million do find her striking, and that one is with us right now. And it drove Paul to reach out to a radio show. Paul, how are you feeling about us calling her in a second here?
Paul
Again, I would like to stress she is an attractive woman.
Jeffrey
Okay. I'm just quoting you.
Jose
Yeah, he's not feeling good after that whole recap, Jeff. But you did say, like, she probably has men hitting on her all the time.
Paul
Yeah, yeah, easily.
Brooke
Sounds like she also has a lot.
Jose
Of confidence and which.
Brooke
Stylish.
Jose
Totally. That's a good point, Jose. I mean, that might just be it. Maybe she's too busy with other dates to, like, get back to you.
Jeffrey
She's just swimming in a sea of dudes right now.
Jose
God, are you jealous?
Jeffrey
Book my trip. Anyway, let's reach out to Stacy. Hopefully she picks up and can give us a little bit of insight. I'm dialing her number right now.
Caller
Hello?
Jeffrey
Hi, is this Stacy?
Caller
Yeah. Who's this?
Jeffrey
Hey, we're a radio show. We're called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Jose
Hey, Stacy.
Brooke
Good morning.
Jose
Welcome to the show.
Caller
What is this? Is this, like, a prank?
Brooke
It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.
Jose
No, we do do those, but not this time.
Jeffrey
This is Our top rated segment called Brook and Notes called Second Date Update.
Jose
Good sell, Jeff.
Jeffrey
I was. I was reading the sign on the wall and I got distracted by Brooklyn Jeffrey.
Brooke
Always top rated.
Jeffrey
Yeah, it's actually falling in the rankings as we speak, so we'd like for you to be a part of it.
Caller
Yeah, no, I don't think so.
Jose
I think you need to hear why we even have your information.
Jeffrey
Ye. One of our listeners says he went out on a great date with you recently and would like to see you again. He's a little confused why it's not happening, though. His name's Paul.
Caller
No, I can't even. No, don't even know.
Jose
Wait, don't even with Paul, or you just hate us and don't want to talk to us?
Caller
No. Paul. Like, I have nothing against you guys. I just can't. I'm so mad at him.
Jeffrey
Okay. Wow.
Jose
Oh, man, he is in the dark.
Jeffrey
Yeah, if that's how you feel about him, that's totally valid. But he doesn't understand why he doesn't.
Jose
Even know you're mad.
Jeffrey
Yeah, according to his recap of the date, it was actually a great night.
Announcer
Oh.
Caller
Yeah. He has problems.
Jose
Wait, is this a problem you noticed on the day, or is this something you learned about him later?
Caller
It was what I learned on the date. Okay, listen. He didn't take any pictures of me at all, all during our date, and I look friggin incredible.
Jose
You wanted him to take photos of you?
Caller
I mean, the fact is, I am friggin hot. Like, ridiculously hot.
Jeffrey
Unconventionally hot. Yeah, yeah.
Caller
Yeah, I would say that.
Jeffrey
Definitely not your standard.
Jose
Okay, that's great. And you wanted him to pull out his camera as soon as he complimented you and start snapping photos at some point.
Caller
He didn't do any. And I kept even giving him hints, like, oh, my God, how many more selfies? Like, take a freaking picture of me.
Jose
Did you say he took selfies? Did he take pictures of himself?
Caller
No, I took selfies.
Jose
That is funny that he didn't bring that up. That would be a weird thing. So you took pictures of yourself?
Caller
If you saw what I look like, you'd understand.
Jeffrey
Stacy, I'm trying to understand. By him not wanting to take a photo of you on his phone.
Jose
No, not. Not wanting to. Not doing.
Jeffrey
Not doing it to you. That was like an offense.
Caller
Can I be honest with you? There's a reason they say actions speak louder than words. He can tell me I'm beautiful. Like, I know I'm beautiful, okay? But it means nothing without actually taking Pictures of my beauty.
Brooke
Okay, if he.
Jeffrey
If he really thought that you were as beautiful as he said he was, he would have been taking photos to memorialize that moment for all of time.
Jose
Hey, maybe he took secret candids when you weren't looking. We don't know.
Brooke
That would be so creepy.
Jose
Well, she likes it.
Brooke
Did you just say that's creepy? I heard her say that.
Caller
Well, it'll be creepster if he did it without me knowing it.
Brooke
Okay, at least we have the guidelines.
Jose
You do have boundaries. I'm glad. I am happy to hear that.
Jeffrey
Well, I hope that this isn't too creepy to tell you, but I hope.
Brooke
He'S been taking pictures.
Jeffrey
Paul is actually on the other line, quietly listening. Yeah, that's how the segment works, is we have them listen to hear what the reasoning is. So, Paul, are you there?
Paul
Yeah, I would just want to say that I know you looked incredible on the day, and that's how I was telling you how beautiful you were. I'm pretty sure I said it, like, multiple times.
Jose
Oh, you're missing the point, Paul.
Caller
Words mean nothing without the actions to back it up.
Paul
Well, I was just focused on being present with you and having a good conversation and connecting with you. I thought that was more important.
Brooke
Usually that's a huge.
Caller
Really? You were just thinking of yourself?
Jose
You're selfish. I think he's trying to say that there was so much more to you, you know, than just how beautiful you are.
Caller
I giving him a pass he doesn't deserve.
Jeffrey
Okay, Paul, can you admit that you were selfish that night by not taking a bunch of photos of her?
Paul
Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. I never thought that would be an offense.
Caller
Well, that sounds patronizing. And I was so sad when I got home that night. I only took five selfies in my outfit.
Jeffrey
Only five?
Caller
Normally, I take a lot more. Hello?
Jeffrey
Oh, yeah, if you only take five photos of yourself, you know that's a bad night, right, Alexis?
Caller
Yeah, I do. Yes. What do you have to say about it, Paul?
Paul
You know, out of the millions of different things that could have gone wrong on the date, I didn't think of this. Yeah, I should have.
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Paul
And I wish. I wish I'd taken more photos. I really. I wish I had.
Brooke
Yeah.
Caller
And I wish that the apology could have come a long time ago.
Jose
Oh, are you saying it's too late?
Jeffrey
We're having constructive communication here, so maybe this is a good opportunity to ask. Would both of you consider going out with each other another time? With many, many Photos taken of Stacy. And if you're willing to do that, then we would pay for it.
Brooke
We should hire a photographer.
Jose
No, no, we don't have that budget.
Brooke
Sorry.
Caller
Yeah, I think you should book us a trap.
Brooke
Yo, we don't have that at all. We just said we don't have money.
Jose
For a trip to Applebee's.
Paul
You want me to book a trip?
Jeffrey
You want Paul to book it?
Caller
Didn't I just say that? I feel like I just said that.
Jose
Okay, well, you just met him. You want to go on a trip with him. You weren't even gonna call him back a second ago.
Jeffrey
Think of how great she's gonna look on vacation, bro.
Caller
Thinking like first class.
Brooke
What?
Caller
Paul, Houston, Coach, wherever that is. That's what I'm thinking.
Brooke
You're thinking airplane. I thought you meant like a road trip.
Jose
So that's how you apologize to you. Right?
Caller
And listen, he. He can sit and coach.
Jose
Oh, okay.
Brooke
Take pics of you on the plane.
Jose
That's going to save him some money, though. Yes, don't argue that point.
Jeffrey
This is very, very reasonable. Woman on the phone who clearly.
Caller
Thank you.
Jeffrey
Yeah, you're welcome, Stacy.
Jose
So, look, Sarcas.
Jeffrey
Unfortunately, due to our radio budget, we're not going to be able to pay for plane tickets. But maybe we can fund the in flight meal. At least the coach one. We could probably afford that one for Paul.
Jose
I think it's 10 bucks. It's usually an $8 snack box.
Jeffrey
Paul, would you be open to this idea?
Paul
Well, what choice do I have? I mean, if that's the only way I can spend time with her, then that's what I have to do, right?
Jeffrey
Wow. The lengths that he's willing to go to for you. Stacy, would you agree to a date.
Caller
With him as long as he's in? Coach accepts the terms that I'm in first class and he does selfies of me.
Brooke
Oh, what if he buys two first class tickets? Honestly, you're next to him.
Jose
They are not equals.
Jeffrey
Okay, he needs to remember he's going to be punished for a few weeks before he's allowed to sit next to her. But look at that. Paul, you asked us for another date. You started off with a little bit of miscommunication. Yeah, not enough photos taken. And ended with the most, most unconventional, beautiful romance in all of history.
Jose
I have a tear in my eye.
Jeffrey
I must feel good.
Paul
It doesn't feel bad.
Jose
It will when you check your bank account later.
Jeffrey
She doesn't care about that.
Alexis
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
Jeffrey
When you're a man and you see a sliver of an opening to hang out with an unconventional woman, and she says, buy me a first class plane trip to somewhere nice while you sit and coach. Yeah, you can't let an opportunity like that, that slip away.
Jose
I guess not.
Jeffrey
That's right.
Brooke
It's not an opportunity.
Jose
Jeff sounds like such a good, healthy relationship.
Jeffrey
Yep. Paul is no fool and jumped right on top of it. That's why he's on Travelocity right Now, booking a $7,000 first class ticket to Turks and Caicos like a real gentleman.
Brooke
I always wanted to go there while.
Jose
He flies in the luggage compartment.
Jeffrey
Yeah, if he's lucky. But, hey, good on you, Paul. You came here for a date and you, like, left with one.
Jose
Do you think that we're gonna get an update from them, like, five years from now where they're happily married with a couple babies on the way?
Jeffrey
Yeah.
Brooke
She's like, he bought me my house and he stays over at his house.
Jose
She'll be happy.
Jeffrey
Yeah. Love does work in mysterious ways, and sometimes it takes us to give it a little bit of a nudge. So email the show, we'll call that person who's not calling you back, and go check out all of our second dates. See our whole resume. Wherever you get your podcast, they're up. BrookeandJeffrey.
