Heaven
Welcome to Brunch and Bible, where we navigate womanhood through the Word. I'm your host, Heaven, and this is more than a podcast, it's a movement. At Brunch and Bible, women gather, grow spiritually, embrace the complexities of life through word driven discussions and find practical applications for their own journeys. In this special third anniversary episode, I share three key lessons I've learned in my journey of hosting Brunch and Bible. From my early days in student leadership to seeing God's faithful provision for each event, I reflect on how he has prepared me, provided for me vision, and infused my mission with purpose. This episode is a powerful encouragement to stay the course, trust God's hand in every season, and never trivialize the dreams he's given you. Welcome everyone to another episode of Brunch and and Bible. And today I am solo Dolo because it's a special episode. Brunch and Bible is celebrating three years. If you are watching this, I want you to clap, shout and scream because the Lord has honestly been faithful to be stewarding this vision for three years has honestly only been the grace and the mercies of God. And today I just want us to talk a little bit about our journey to three years old. I want to start from the very conception to where God has brought us so far. And in that I want to share three things that I've learned in the three years of leading Brunch and Bible by God's grace. And so let's just dive right into it. I want to start from what may not have seemed like the beginning right of the vision, but it was the beginning of what God was doing in me to prepare me for the vision of brunch and Bible. And so that's the first thing I learned that when God calls you, he prepares you. That's P number one, prepare. And I remember being a young girl and I was probably about 13 years old and those days I love to dance like you would catch me in all the church choreographies, all the Kirk Franklin songs. And even at that time there started to be a peak in like that afrobeats gospel kind of thing with Tim Godfrey. And I just, I'm reminiscing right now of all the songs we used to dance to. And I had a dance partner that was just a tad older than me. Her name is Damola. Shout out Damola, if you're watching this. But at the time we were like stuck at the hip bone and we just thought of an idea and we're like, you know what we Love to dance. And let's spread that love of dance to see how we can benefit our community and really pour into people around us. And that was the start of Team HD Dance Camp. If you know Team HD Dance camp, you're actually a real one. You've been following me from the beginning. You've been following me from Genesis. We launched this girls dance camp, and it was a summer dance camp. There's even old YouTube videos of us promoting it. We're like, if you're between the ages of 6 to 12, we want to have you at our summer dance camp. And we rented out at the time, I think we had moved to our new church. If I'm not mistaken, we had moved to our new building, and we're still doing things at the old property. And so the sanctuary was clear. So we had gotten permission to host this dance camp in the old sanctuary of our church. And so different girls signed up. Our pastor's daughters signed up. So many different little girls signed up from the community. And we really just took that time to pour into them for, I don't know, probably a month or six weeks, eight weeks. I don't know how long it was, but it was an extended period of time. And by the end, we did a little closing ceremony where they did a choreographed dance. We celebrated them. It was just an amazing time. So basically, we spent our summer days with these young girls, talking to them, feeding them, pouring into them. And mind you, I'm not. I'm not over the age of 13, remember? I think I was. I think I was just hitting 13 at the time. And so here I am, 13 years old, mentoring young girls from the ages of 6 to 12 years old. And little did I know that God was preparing me all along for this vision of brunch and Bible. You know, I want to get into a little bit of some Bible, right? We see in the book of Judges, we know of the story of Deborah being a prophetess and a judge over the Israelites. And there being a key woman named Jael, who was just a tent maker. She was just a tent maker. Literally all day long, she would take these huge nails and peg them into the ground. And that's all she was doing for I don't know how long. The Bible doesn't recount, but that's all they say of her, is that she's a tent maker. And you see her enter this place of destiny where she is really challenged in that moment to rise up as a warrior against the enemy, really the enemy. And he came into her tent looking for refuge. And she ended up defeating the Israelites enemy. I believe it was Cicera. Yeah, it was Sisera. And so she now takes this peg and she nails it into the head of Sisera and kills him and becomes this celebrated woman. She becomes this superhero. And you think about the accuracy and the precision needed to nail Sisera right in the temple to get him to die. And we see all along that she was just a tent maker. And in her just being a tent maker day in and day out, God was preparing her for this, this moment of destiny, this moment where she would go from being a tent maker to being a warrior, to being really a superhero and respected in the nation as the one who defeated Cicera. And so I can really relate to that in my upcoming journey. Even after the dance camp, I saw the Lord put me in places of leadership in high school. I was on student council and you know, making decisions for the school and you know, I finished with, I finished second in my class by the grace of God. It was just kept putting me in these leadership positions and these positions to speak to people and to express myself and things of that nature. And I get into college and I join asa. I talked about it in past episodes where I was the programs manager and I was in charge of, you know, guest artists that we would bring, like all kinds of. I, I've been in contact with all kinds of artists, literally just arranging them to come and perform at ASA or do whatever. And I'm just seeing like now in retrospect with all those things God was preparing me, I, I bring myself to. When I accepted Christ and I told the Lord, I, I will serve you all of my days. I don't know in what capacity that you want to use me. I don't know exactly what you want to do with me, but all I know is that God, I want you to use me how you said you will. And he brings me to this place where I'm in a place of leadership in my youth church. And so I just, God was just preparing me and just building me up to be this leader all along. And I didn't see it in the moment. I just want to encourage someone who may not really understand the season that God has them in and they. You may not understand what he's doing in the moment, but I promise you, if you commit to the journey, it will all make sense at some point. At, at the time where I was leading the girls in dance camp, I thought I was just following a passion of dance, but little did I know, God was really building those intrinsic characteristics of leadership, of mentorship, of caring, of compassion, even for womanhood when it comes to, to brunch and Bible. And so I come to this point, so I'm, I'm. I'm serving in my youth church. You know, I think it's around pandemic, and there was only about one or two youth joining our zoom because we had to resort to zoom. We weren't meeting in person. And I'm teaching these people. It's just maybe one or two kids that are joining the same one or two kids that join every week. And I'm teaching these topics. I'm like, lord, what is the purpose for all of this? There's nobody joining. I don't know why we're even investing in this. What. What's going on? Right? And shortly after that, I think the year after, it was April 2021. It was April 2021. And that brings me to my next P. The second thing that I learned is that where God has called you to a vision, that and where you say, yes, he always provides. He always brings provision. So the second P is provision. And so I come to this place where I'm in fellowship with God and I'm serving and I'm doing all the things that I know how to do. I think. I think at this point I'm in yassm, which is our young adults and singles ministry at our church. And I come to this place where I feel like I'm gaining a rhythm. You know, I'm being consistent in God. I'm working. And for those of you who know me personally, I'm a nurse by trade and I work night shift. And so what I would do is I would work my shift, get off at. I would work my shift, start at 7.30pm, get off at 8am and right after that, I would get some breakfast from the cafeteria, bring it home, and literally spend time with God in His word and in prayer over breakfast. And I was doing this pretty consistently. Yeah, I was doing it pretty consistently from 2020 to about 2021. And I remember that faithful day in April of 2021 where I'm literally having my Bible opened and I'm eating breakfast and I hear brunch and Bible. I literally hear those three words, brunch and Bible. And I'm like, what did I just hear? What did I just hear? And when God speaks like that, I know that he's speaking clearly. I know that it wasn't my own imagination. It wasn't anything that I could have ever thought of. And I really, at the time, I didn't. I didn't know what that meant. I just knew that I heard something. I heard from the Lord. I also believe at that time, I was trying to. I wanted God to use all of me, basically. So I knew that he had called me to a place of leadership. I know he had called me to speak to people. I knew the little things that he wanted to do, but I also wanted him to have everything. And so I had this online platform called Slay Sisters. If you know about Slay Sisters for referral, you're an og. Like, thank you for following us this far. But we had a platform called Slay Sisters, and it was basically being able to show our duality in Christ as women, where we can be feminine, we can be females, we can be soft, we can like girly things, but we also don't back down in a place of our faith. It's where our womanhood and our faith met. Right? And it was just a beautiful platform where I was able to highlight women from different walks of life in different spheres of influence and just celebrating what God was doing through them. So that was all of what that platform was about. I shared content on there as well. I went on live with different women. And, yeah, that was Slay Sisters. So that's what I had at the time. And then I heard brunch and Bible. And so after further seeking, I realized that God really wanted me to bring a communal aspect to what God was birthing out of my ministry. Right? And ministry sounds like such a big word, right? But everything is ministry. Honestly, anything that you do to administer your gift to people is ministry. So if that's cleaning, if that's smiling, if that's, you know, media, whatever that looks like for you, if it's fashion, whatever you do, that's a gift unto others is ministry. So you don't have to be technically a pastor to be in ministry. You don't have to be called Reverend to be in ministry, but you can be doing ministry right where you are at whatever level and whatever part of your journey God has called you to. And so after further seeking, I realized that indeed, God wanted me to bring this platform together down to even the colors that you see here, like, God was giving me them and the significance of what each color meant. He was just bringing so much intentionality to what brunch and Bible was. And he was just like, I want you to gather women from all walks of life. I want you to gather women from near and far and bring them into community, bring them into the knowledge of my word. Bring them into a place where they can feel safe, to grow, to transform, and to also have the power of sisterhood along the journey. I remember one of the things that I was praying for when I first got saved was that the Lord would send me people that looked like me that was doing this thing. I said, there has to be people that look like me that have my same interest who are following you a hundred percent. Not. Not compromised, but a hundred percent. And even through that prayer, that was even brunch and Bible being birthed in a way that I didn't even know. And so I'm talking about provision, right? So I'm running with this vision and. And I think I sat on it for a few months, and one thing you don't want to do is, you know, get into disobedience, because delayed obedience is disobedience. And so I sat on it for a little bit and I felt a nudging. And I think actually God had given me a deadline that I want you to gather women. I want you to gather them together. You may not know how, you may not know in what capacity, but just gather them and. And just discuss my word. And so I remember just calling a couple of my friends, a couple of my friends, siblings came. It was just. It was. There were some high schoolers there, some college students there. We gathered at a franchise breakfast spot. Really. I remember it was noisy in there. We tried to meet outside. I think something happened where there was people who had the reservation and we had to go inside. And I remember we had our Bibles and I had my little heels on, and I had little bob on with a little frilly top. And we were just discussing. I actually cannot remember what we discussed, but we were just. Actually, I do remember what we discussed. I believe it was Psalm 127. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Yeah, that was cool. Psalm 127, where it talks about when the learn the Lord turned the captivity of Zion. We talked about how the Lord, when he turned the captivity of Zion, they were like them that dreamed. And we talked about what that meant and how when you sow tears, you reap joy. And I. Yeah, thank you, Holy Spirit, for reminding me of that. That was the first topic ever. And so from that day, I just knew that the Lord wanted to do more. And like I said, as we progress, we see the hand of the Lord, we see his provision, we see things coming together. And so I start to discuss the vision with some ladies in My community, some that were a little bit more mature in the faith than me. Some. Some that I could look to counsel for. And that's another thing. In your journey to stewarding whatever God has called you to, you do need people who are a bit. Maybe more mature than you, who know a little bit more, who have been there before, who can provide insight to you. And so that's exactly what I did. And Michelle D. If you guys are. Pastor Dari, if you guys are watching, shout out to you all. They actually took the vision and. And ran with it. And they were pushing me and encouraging me. And I remember they're like, no, we need to actually record this content so that more people can see it. And we. It's funny story, we go to this hotel. I can't even remember what hotel it is, but we're like, you know, hotels have nice backgrounds. And, you know, we're just starting. So we'll take our phone, we'll prop it up on a tripod, and we'll record an episode for brunch and Bible and put it on YouTube. And this first episode, I think I have it somewhere on the archives. Maybe I'll send it to Moyo so he can insert the clip here. But we talked about relationships and love. And I remember we gathered and that was such a chaotic time because we actually ended up almost getting kicked out of the hotel, trying to film like we were moving furniture around, trying to figure out if we could find a private room. It was a lot. I remember the video is still on my phone. And to this day, that episode has never aired. I was so unsatisfied with the episode. I'm like, ah, this iPhone quality. I don't like this. But I also want to encourage you who are watching that, don't despise Small Beginnings. That was such a pivotal time because it ignited the spirit of excellence in me. And again, I knew that there was so much more. And God is starting to provide by sending people. One thing that God will do is he will send people to assist you in your vision. He'll send people to pour into what God has given you. And I thank God for people like Pastor D and Michelle. And then I have my. My videographer come into the point at. At this point, shout out Moyo, one of the best videographers in. In Indianapolis, in Indiana, in the Midwest, period. And he comes in and we start filming at this studio. And so we start filming at this studio. And we filmed a few episodes at this studio actually. And I think at this point we're just filming, you know, singular episodes one by one and putting them on YouTube and it was fine. It was blessing people. It was getting traction. People were beginning to see online different things. And I started to kind of see what God was trying to do. What he told me was starting to make a little bit of sense. Everything that I had gone through in the past was starting to make a lot of sense. Even the way I grew up being that literally my family is all girls, except for my dad and my. My sister's husband. We were all women. My sister had three girls and I. I just began to see God's intentionality behind what he was doing. Fast forward. I come into a time of consecration. And this time of consecration was not necessarily for brunch and Bible, was actually a personal consecration. Around my birthday of 2023, Brunch and Bible launched June 2022. We had our first episode at the Box Indie and we launched in June 2022. But God took me to August of 2023 and he just called me unto Himself for 21 days. And I remember fasting and praying for everything else but brunch and Bible at that point, I think we had not recorded in a while. And it wasn't even something that thinking of. And by the end of that consecration, I think in the last 10 days, the Lord spoke to me and said, I want you to record an episode and I want you to have a live. A live audience. And I'm like, Lord, 10 days, really? And I'm just speaking and trying to encourage anyone who has a vision out there that when the Lord speaks of, I don't care how crazy it sounds, run with it. Listen to him. He knows the full picture. He knows exactly what he's trying to do. Even if it sounds insane and absurd, it's better to obey and lean into his promptings. And so that I did and I gathered people at an Airbnb and we launched our first live audience episode. And I remember that video being a shift kind of in brunch and Bible's ministry. I began to now see the impact that it had on the women in the room. You know, when you put videos on YouTube, you don't really get to physically see what is happening. You don't get to see that transformation or how the information is hearing. Sorry that you don't get to see how the information is hitting like the spirit man of the person watching. And so being able to see women in the room worship, see them take notes, see them really get nuggets. And then afterwards seeing Them fellowship over food. And I was just like, the vision, the mandate, the mission is, is taking shape. It's taken form. And we continued in that. We continued in that, but we continued in that. And I think we did that up until the end of 2023. And now we're in 2024. And I remember 2024 was such a shaky year when it came to brunch and Bible. I don't think we actually released anything. And I remember just being in a place where I couldn't pull myself. I couldn't. I couldn't get myself. I was going through so much at the time, and I just couldn't pull myself together to record. I just felt like, lord, I'm going through this tough season. What do I have to say to people? I don't. I don't feel like I have anything to say. I don't feel like I have anything to offer. And there will always be a point in time where you may become discouraged with your vision, but can I encourage you today to not give up? Can I encourage you today that the Lord is indeed with you? And I think the reflecting back on now, still, still speaking on provision, reflecting back on a mistake I made in 2024 was just. Just kind of almost giving up on what God was doing through this platform. And I think we met once in January and I. I didn't record that episode. And then after that, we didn't meet again. And I remember 2024 being such a tough year for me in so many different ways. But what God did towards the end of 22. Sorry, what God did towards the end of 2024 was revive that vision. Think it was towards Q4 that the Lord started to speak to me heavily about this year and heavily about what he wanted to do. And he says, I want you to come back, but with a new vision. I want you to come back but in the supply of my grace and my strength. And I'll be with you and I'm supporting you. And I want you to actually add structure and approach 2025 with. With all intentionality. And I will provide. I don't care how much things cost. And I remember gathering myself together and I'm like starting to do research and putting things together. And Lord, the cost of this and the cost of that. And he said, my daughter, just go and do it. I will provide. And to the glory of God, he has given us the grace to be consistent for the past six months in 2025. He has provided every single step of the way. Brunch And Bible has never been without and not only he's given us a new vision, a new purpose to impact people on a different level. More content that we're releasing everything that God said he would do concerning brunch and Bible he's doing. We had our first live event this year and we, we are gearing up towards our mid year event that's going to be literally the biggest women's Christian event. I believe in the Midwest by the grace of God. And I just, I just see the hand of God. I really do see what God is doing and that he always provides. The Bible says to not take thought of what tomorrow looks like. And in all your ways seek Christ, it says Matthew 6:33 3. Seek ye first the kingdom of God in his righteousness and all other things you'll have. And I'm just, I'm just so grateful to be in a place where I can see the hand of God backing me and pushing me. And even what God did for us this year at the beginning of the year where he caused us to win a grant, something that we applied for in faith, God gave to us. And so he was constantly reaffirming his words that he will provide. If I've sent you to this, I will provide for you. I will make a way where there seems to be no way. And in conclusion, it brings me to my third P which is purpose. And there, there is a purpose behind what God is doing in, in brunch and Bible. I think that now what I'm learning and what I'll take into years to come is to not trivialize and to approach, approach with all intentionality what God has spoken. And not to belittle what God has said, said no matter if you have one person at your event or if you have 1000 approaching it with the same intentionality because God has a purpose behind everything that he's doing from each guest. I have so many testimonies of guests coming on the podcast and saying, you don't understand me. Coming on here did something for me or you even choosing me for this topic. This is actually the season that I just came out of or this is something that God is actually teaching me. In this season I have countless of testimonies and by God's grace, being able to read through YouTube comments and comments on TikTok and Instagram, I realized that indeed God has a purpose behind this platform. And so I just want you to celebrate God with me. When you are watching this episode, I just want you to say a quick thank you Jesus for bringing brunch and Bible to 3. It's really only by his grace and his mercies that we are still standing him here. And we believe that God will carry us into the next three years and the next three years and that, you know, our influence will expand for the purposes of people being saved. We, we, we believe that God will use this platform to save and deliver so many women. And not only women, men as well. My men supporters, I salute you all. This is, this is a platform made for women. But one thing that I'm noticing is that God will do what he wants to do and he will bless who he wants to bless through this platform. And so we believe that God will save souls. We believe that God will take us to the nations. We believe that this will be a platform that impacts the hearts and the souls and the minds of many, many, many women across the globe. And so we're just grateful. We're grateful we're three years old. We're grateful for what God has done and we are grateful for what he will do. Thank you all for supporting us. If you were there during the times of Team HD Summer Dance Camp, if you were there during Slay Sisters, thank you for sticking along and watching us grow and go from season to season and grow from strength to strength. Something glory to glory. And for those of you who are just joining, we thank you as well for seeing what God sees in, in this platform, in this vision. And I just implore you to stick alongside this journey. We're just beginning. We believe that this is just the beginning of what God is doing through us. We believe that there's so much more and so stick along with us. Continue to like and share, continue to comments, continue to subscribe, continue to listen YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts. We're thankful for everything that you're doing as far as sharing and listening and even providing feedback. We're grateful. I'm, I'm grateful. I'm grateful for the people that God has placed in my life. I'm grateful for my media team, Kairos Media, Grateful for Jim Bros. Just grateful for every single person that has assisted us in becoming three years old. I'm thankful for my team, the, the group of women that I work with are so dedicated to the cause. They are literally heaven sent. They are God sent. And so this is just an episode of my gratitude to you all and to everybody who has supported us in becoming 23 years old. I pray that this, this episode, this special episode has blessed you. I pray that you're able to grab Something that if you're believing God to birth something in you, that indeed he can do it. And that every part of your life is intentional behind what he's trying to do. Look back at your childhood. Look back at what God took you through, the season that he brought you through and the season that he brought you out of. And see his hand and see what he's trying to do to birth the vision that's on the inside of you. I just want to pray a quick prayer for you on the other side of the screen. Lord, we thank you. We give you the glory. We honor you for bringing us to three years old. We acknowledge, oh God, that this is indeed only your handiwork. We thank you for the grace that you that's been supplied. We thank you for the Destiny helpers. We thank you for everybody who has bought into what you're trying to do, who has turned their eyes and supported and seen the greatness in this vision. Lord, we're grateful. We say that it's all you. And to you alone be all the glory. Lord, this has nothing to do with me. This has nothing to with do do with anyone else. But it has to do with what you are trying to accomplish in the Earth Realm in this season. And so we're grateful that you have chosen us to be a part of it. And we pray, oh God, that your mighty hand would continue to empower us, that you would continue to push us from strength to strength and from glory to glory. And Lord, that you would continue to be pleased with us. And I just pray for the person on the other side of this screen that, Lord, if they are believing you for something that you've told them that you will do in them and through them, God, that you would send Destiny helpers, that you would give them the right perspective, oh God, that you would bring them to a place of realization of what you're trying to do in them, Lord. Prepare them, oh God. Provide provision for them, oh God, and help them to see purpose in what you're trying to do. We thank you and we give you the glory now and forevermore. In Jesus, mighty name, we have prayed. Amen. Friendship Bible is 3 years old. And with that being said, we will catch you in the next episode. See you soon.
Brunch N’ Bible: “The 3 P’s: Preparation, Provision, and Purpose (3rd Year Anniversary Special)”
Podcast Information:
Heaven Kore kicks off this special third anniversary episode with heartfelt gratitude, celebrating the journey of Brunch N’ Bible over the past three years. She emphasizes the podcast as more than just a series of discussions; it’s a movement dedicated to fostering spiritual growth among women. Heaven passionately shares her excitement and acknowledges God’s unwavering faithfulness in stewarding the vision.
"Brunch and Bible is celebrating three years. If you are watching this, I want you to clap, shout and scream because the Lord has honestly been faithful to be stewarding this vision for three years has honestly only been the grace and the mercies of God." [00:00]
Heaven delves into the first P—Preparation—highlighting how God meticulously prepares individuals for their divine callings through various life experiences. She recounts her early leadership roles, starting with the Team HD Dance Camp she initiated at age 13. This dance camp served as her first venture into mentorship, guiding young girls in dance while fostering spiritual growth.
"When God calls you, He prepares you." [04:30]
Drawing parallels from the Bible, Heaven reflects on the story of Deborah and Jael in the Book of Judges. She illustrates how Jael’s seemingly ordinary role as a tent maker was a preparation ground for her to become a decisive warrior in Israel’s history.
"She was just a tent maker. Literally all day long, she would take these huge nails and peg them into the ground... God was preparing her all along for this vision of Brunch and Bible." [07:15]
Heaven connects these experiences to her personal growth, detailing her involvement in student leadership, active participation in youth church, and her role in ASA (A Service Association). Each of these roles honed her leadership skills and deepened her understanding of ministry.
Transitioning to the second P—Provision—Heaven shares how God’s provision was evident throughout her journey. A pivotal moment occurred in April 2021 when she experienced a divine prompting to name her platform "Brunch and Bible" during her morning routine.
"I was literally having my Bible opened and I'm eating breakfast and I hear Brunch and Bible. I literally hear those three words." [15:10]
This revelation marked the beginning of a new chapter, leading her to transition from her existing platform, Slay Sisters, to focusing more on a communal and interactive approach through Brunch and Bible. Heaven emphasizes that God not only provided the vision but also the necessary resources and people to support it. She acknowledges mentors like Pastor Dari and Michelle, who played crucial roles in encouraging and assisting her.
"God will provide. If He said, 'I want you to gather women,' He brings provision in every step." [22:45]
Heaven narrates the challenges faced during the pandemic, especially in sustaining engagement through virtual platforms. Despite these hurdles, God’s provision remained steadfast, leading to the resurgence of Brunch and Bible with structured plans and the support of a dedicated media team.
"God gave us a new vision, a new purpose to impact people on a different level. He provided every single step of the way." [35:50]
The third P—Purpose—focuses on the divine mission behind Brunch and Bible. Heaven passionately articulates the platform’s overarching goal to impact women’s lives by providing a safe space for spiritual growth, fellowship, and empowerment.
"God has a purpose behind everything that He's doing from each guest." [42:30]
She shares numerous testimonials from listeners who have experienced transformation through the podcast, highlighting how Brunch and Bible has been instrumental in their spiritual journeys. The live events, such as the first episode with an audience and the upcoming mid-year women's Christian event in the Midwest, underscore the platform’s expanding influence.
Heaven underscores the importance of intentionality in every aspect of the ministry, ensuring that each event and discussion aligns with God’s purpose. She envisions Brunch and Bible reaching thousands of women globally, facilitating soul-winning and delivering profound spiritual insights.
"We believe that God will use this platform to save and deliver so many women... and even men, as one platform can bless all." [50:20]
Heaven reflects on the obstacles faced, particularly in 2024 when she nearly lost momentum amidst personal and professional struggles. She candidly shares her vulnerability during this period, feeling disconnected from the vision and questioning her ability to continue.
