Hey, it's Bubba, Bubba, Bubba on the lake Bubba, Bubba, Bubba on the Lake. Y gotta come and check this. Talking people, talking places from Bubba's perspective. This is Bubba, Bubba, Bubba, Bubba, Bubba on the lake. Hey, Bubba, Bubba, Bubba, Bubba on the lake. Let's go.

Some of them will make it to air, not all of them, but we have a good time with those. And also, don't forget to subscribe, turn on notifications. We don't want you to miss anything from the show. And we are glad to be back. Let me underline that Betty and I had planned on taking a couple of weeks off. We're. We're good on our schedule of shows for the year. When we started back in March and we needed to catch up on a few things. I had a few projects I was trying to get done and we wanted to run down to the beach for the weekend, down to the Gulf of America. We used to go to the Gulf quite a bit and haven't been any really in the last three years, maybe even longer. Back to when the tornado smashed the house. So between that the radio show ending, everything going on here, we just haven't had time to get away much. So we were trying to get away, have a little time to do that and lo and behold, my knee got infected. The joint this time had knee replacement back in August. Many of you have been with us through that. And look, I kind of hesitate to go into all this because it's the old saying about bleeding on the audience. I know Rush used to talk about that. But throughout our radio history, we have just shared everything, just put it on the table. Shared what was going on. And I'm kind of from that school, so we'll just be blatantly honest here and let you know what was, what was happening. I had knee replacement. Then I had an infection in the wound of the incision. Had to go back, have another surgery for that to Chicago. And then this time my joint, my knee joint started feeling a little bit warm. I wasn't feeling too good myself, and we had to go back for a third trip to Chicago. Now, if you look at the national averages, infection for post knee joint surgery is 1 to 2%. Dr. Berger, who I was going to, publishes actually less than 1. So lucky me, I guess, is the best way to put it. I have talked to other people that have had infections. It is not fun, it's not easy. This last surgery, they had to go in and clean out again. You know, the old knee get a little, little sensitive there, Some, a lot of cutting. And I had to stay in the hospital in Chicago a week. How about that? So we have a PICC line now, which is a little pipe that's under my arm that goes directly into a large vein. And they can administer IVs there, they can take blood there. I. First time I've ever had a PICC line, I wasn't really excited about it. But I tell you, the number of sticks that it saves you and your arm is incredible. So I don't have a problem with it. Don't hurt. It's easy to manage. And it looks like we're going to have that probably on antibiotics through Thanksgiving and then we'll go from there, look at the blood test. But I think I was just unlucky in all this. The bacteria that took up in my knee is very common bacteria. I'll get nurse Betty to say it for you a little later. It's in our body anyway. It's on our skin. Cats, dogs, plants, fresh water everywhere. And it just overcome the situation. They call it opportunistic, which means if you'd skin your knee, your body would have fought it off. It gets in a deep wound, like a surgical wound, and advantage goes to the bacteria. Your, your, your, your system, your scent, your skin in there just can't fight it off because it's not, you know, it's wounded, so to speak. So it took off. The good news is to get rid of. This is a fairly common antibiotic. Rosephen is the shot version of it. It's, it's that shot you get when you have a cold and you go the doctor and they give it to you, it's real thick and it feels like a bumblebee stinging your butt when you go to pay your copay and leave. And you know you're kind of doing that dance like it didn't, didn't hurt to start with. But as you walk out, you think you got a beast, and it's really getting, getting to you. We're getting the IV version of that. So it does not do that in the IV version because it has to be a lot thinner. But anyway, it's. It's a different. It's a drug by the different name, but it's the same drug. So anyway, we're being treated for that. Steady she goes. We got a wound pump. You may hear that in the background clicking at some point, but that will come out here the next day or two and hopefully we'll make some big strides forward. I've been walking on a walker. We have upgraded to crutches, and hopefully we get this wound pump out of my knee. We will be walking with a cane and then hopefully nothing in the near future. We're certainly hope so. So we're trying to strengthen up our legs and get back to that. Over the period since August, I lost a lot of muscle in my legs because a lot of that time has been spent recovering and it doesn't take long for that muscle to get away. So got to build that stuff back up. But anyway, that's kind of where we are. I wanted to catch you up. We'll try to talk to Betty a little more about all of this. It's been tough on her whole family, as you can imagine. And three trips, three surgeries to Chicago since August getting a little much. So we're, we're, we're hopefully that this will do the trick. Lot of people with joints out there that have no problems, and we would like to join those ranks. No pun intended. So, but thank you all for being back. We're very excited. Steve Doocy from the Fox News Channel is going to be with us. Don't know what else later in the show is. We're kind of putting this together as we go. I hope to talk to Betty and a whole lot more, but we really, really appreciate you guys subscribing and following and listening to the podcast each week. I'm getting great feedback and we really appreciate you guys and we appreciate these sponsors that make it happen and we'll be telling you some more about them in the near future. So y' all sit back and we will be right back with Steve Doocy from the Fox News Channel in just a minute. You're listening to Bubba on the Lake.

Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Folks, we're back. And on the line we have. Well, he is a household name in most conservative families. Steve Doocy from the Fox News Channel. Steve, how are you, sir?
Steve Doocy
Thank you very much, Bubba. I'm good. You know, you. You might say that I'm a household name, but in my household, my name has actually changed in the last year because I am now a grandfather for the last two years and the kids have been calling me grandpa. So I'm no longer Steve Doocy or Mr. Doocy or any of that stuff. I'm just grandpa to most of my family.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, I hear that that's a pretty good job.
Steve Doocy
It is a pretty good job. And the best part is when the kids start squawking, you can tell their parents, your children they should go home. And so it's like, okay, goodbye. I love. Thanks for the little kisses. Now get out.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
You get them all sugared up and then Hand them back to their parents.
Steve Doocy
Listen, whatever it takes to keep them happy, you know, Come on.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
I know I don't have any yet. I'm looking forward to it one of these days. Hopefully my two will get in gear before I pass, but. Well, Steve, we're, we're actually talking to you. You're literally sitting in the airport, right?
Steve Doocy
I am. I just listen, you can hear the public address speaker behind me here at the Newark airport. I did the Fox and Friends show live from the couch this morning in New York and now I am flying to Texas. We're going to shoot something first thing in the morning.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
So, Steve, your role there has changed a little bit. Tell us exactly what that is. It sounds like they've got you busier than you used to be when you were hosting day in, day out.
Steve Doocy
Well, you know, it's just a different kind of busy. You know, when you host a show, you have a set routine where you get up. I would get up. I got up for 30 years at 327, drove into the city, did it between 6 and 9 and then I was done for the day. Although you never really done for the day. Sure. Always kind of, you know.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah.
Steve Doocy
Taking a look at everything going on in the news. So you're, you're storing stuff in your noggin for the next day. But now, given the fact that I'm still the co host, I'm going out to the people. I'm like an ambassador for Fox and Friends. So, you know, in the last week or so I've been in, where have I been? I've been in Kansas City, I've been in Kansas, I've been in Wyoming, I've been in Texas and I just finished up in New York and now I'm going back to Texas. So it's, to be honest, it's more fun. And at this stage of my career, anything that's fun sounds like fun.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Steve, do you, you must enjoy traveling.
Steve Doocy
I do. I love it. I'm good at it. For the last 10 years, my wife and I have had a house in another state. We would go to it every weekend. So, you know, for 10 years I've, I've taken two flights a week and now sometimes I just take two, three, four. So it's, it's just a little more travel. But I've got a lot of bonus miles and half the flight attendants know me from coast to coast, so it's great.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Do you, do you get recognized a lot on the flights? And what, what do people do? How do they Approach you?
Steve Doocy
Well, it varies. Some as soon as they realize that I've woken them up for 30 years over the post osteoph. Some as for a picture. Others are very polite. I know when I was flying to New York, I was on a flight from Dallas to LaGuardia. And just in the last two minutes of life, this guy said, now you are Steve Doocy, right? And I said, yep. And he said, thank you very much for giving me the news for this long. And he appreciated it and told me that I was doing a good job with my children because everybody in, in the world knows Peter Doocy, right? And. And I said, well, of course. And Peter is one of the reasons I am now grandpa around my house. So everybody's respectful, everybody's nice. It's always a pleasure to chat with folks because. And you know this, bubba, when you're out and about and people realize who you are, it's like a, it's like a traveling focus group. And they'll go, hey, I loved it when you talked to this person or when you had this person on the show. And you realize what sticks in people's heads about a memorable event or a memorable telecast or broadcast. And it's like, okay, we got to do more of that stuff because people are talking about it. And in our business, the broadcasting business, that's, that's what it's all about is, you know, creating a little buzz and making a good program, which I'm hoping this turns out to be one.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah, we all are, Steve. Peter, you mentioned your son Peter. You have to be proud. He's worked his way up through the ranks, and he, he's reporting from the White House and, and he has all the big stories. And, you know, he, he's really annoyed a lot of liberals. And you, you have to be proud of that.
Steve Doocy
Well, he. Knowing, you know, how complicated, how challenging broadcasting is, we never encouraged him to go into reporting or tv. And it was just by accident, really, that he became a reporter and America's favorite White House correspondent at our house, but because he was going to. So let's get in time machine. Let's go back to 2007, and Peter was at Villanova in Pennsylvania just outside of Philly, and he was a poli sci major, and he was going to go either into business school or law school, and that was the plan. And then it just so happened that that was the year of a presidential election when John McCain was faced off against Barack Obama first time. And Peter's school got a note. Hey, this Msnbc show is going to show up on campus. And because Peter was in a political science class, his teacher said, hey, it'd be great if all you kids, you could get extra credit if you went down to this town hall event, because the guest was going to be John McCain, right? So Peter, you know, living on the bubble, he needed extra credit for probably some missed classes and.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah, don't we all? That's always the case.
Steve Doocy
No good. So he went, and the producers of the show said that everybody in the audience, hey, anybody have a question? And Peter had a question and the guy goes, oh, that's pretty good. Can you make it a little punchier? And Peter thought, okay. And so he came up with this question for John McCain. And the producer said, okay, what is it? And Peter told him, and the producer said, okay, that's perfect, you'll go second. And so it's time for the audience participation. And this first kid asks a question and gets an answer. And then Peter steps up and he asked John McCain this very funny and pointed question. And it became the soundbite of that week during the presidential campaign. And that clip ran on all the channels, not just msnbc. We ran it on Fox. And my bosses at Fox said, that's Peter. What's he doing on another channel? And I said, well, it was just a town hall. And he was invited, his class was. And they go, well, he should be on Fox. And it's like he's going to college. And they go, well, maybe he could be our college correspondent. And it's like he needs an education. And they said, well, maybe when he's out of college. Well, as it turns out, they asked him to host a town hall at Villanova with his students, fellow students, a couple months later. It was very successful. And then as he approached his senior year, the producer said, you know, Peter, would you be interested in being like a college age reporter? And he said, I think I'm going to go to law school or business school. And they said, you know what? Why don't you try this? And if it doesn't work out, you can always go to law school or business school. And he said, okay, I'll try it. And so he did. And so far, he has not had to go to law school or business school. It's worked out very well for him.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, he has. He's done a great job. As a matter of fact, I was going to tell you, my daughter works in D.C. and she's bumped into him and was very complimentary, said he was very kind.
Steve Doocy
That's good.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Steve, you. You mentioned your wife. You guys put out a several cookbooks. How's that going? Are y' all still cooking together?
Steve Doocy
Well, we are, except when I'm on the road, and then she loves to get takeout. It's like, I'm not cooking. He's not here. I'm not cooking. But she is doing a lot of cooking for the grandkids. And just before I talk to you, Bubba, my daughter called and said, yeah, we're going over to. We're going over to your house to. Or she said, we're thinking about going to your house when you're nearby and what we would like to do. And so it's like they're already planning for when we come to visit what they're going to do. But, yeah, we're not cooking as much. And now, you know what we're doing a lot of Bubba is we'll see something on, like, Tick Tock or Facebook or Twitter, Like a recipe where people just dump stuff in a thing and stir it and cook it, and it looks so easy, and it looks so beautiful. We've been doing a lot of those. But the Dirty Little Secret. And having written three New York Times bestsellers in the cookbook department, I can tell you a lot of those recipes you see online look easy and look fantastic, but they just don't taste very good. So we have. We have, for the most part, done a lot of figuring out how to take those recipes and make them a little better, which is always a challenge. But you know what? We need something to do.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, Steve, I found out it really doesn't matter what you're cooking. If it's sweet, if it's salty, whatever. If you just sprinkle a little bit of. If you sprinkle a little bit of sugar into it, it seems to. To be a lot better.
Steve Doocy
Well, you know, I was. It's funny, I was at the doctor's office getting my cholesterol checked yesterday, which, when you write a cookbook and you travel around and the main item I have to eat when I'm traveling is steak, because I love steak. And if the company's buying, I'm. I'm going to eat it.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
There you go.
Steve Doocy
So I was a little terrified what my cholesterol number was going to be. But as it turns out, it's actually the best cholesterol number I've ever had. But I was talking to the woman who was drawing the blood, and we were talking about birthday cake, because my birthday was last week, and I told her that she said, how was your birthday? And I said, well, it's the one time of year I get my favorite cake, which is German chocolate. And she said she loved it, too, but she never makes it because she said, I can cook, but I can't bake. And I never really thought about the distinction like that, but it really is true, because when you cook, like a supper meal or breakfast or something like that, you put stuff together, and if it doesn't taste good, right, then you can. You can doctorate. You can, like you said, you could add a little sugar, salt, pepper, whatever, make it sweet and savory, whatever you're looking for. But with baking, it's kind of. It's got to be an exact science, because if it's not the right proportion, it doesn't raise. It's not. The volume isn't right. So it's like you have to be a little bit of a stickler when it comes to baking. But cooking. Cooking's much easier. That's why they do it around a campfire. You don't have any measuring cups.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
That's right. You just keep adding till you get it like you like it. Steve.
Steve Doocy
Exactly right.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Are we. Will we see another cookbook from you and the missus? I don't know.
Steve Doocy
We've talked about some different ideas. So maybe in the future, one of these days. I had thought about doing a. Because our first cookbook was called the Happy Cookbook Recipes. You know, everybody's got recipes that make them. That remind them of their childhood or whatever, and they make them happy. The recipes make them happy when they have them. For instance, speaking of my birthday on my boys, makes the same pot roast that my mom made when I was growing up. And, you know, everybody's had that pot roast. It's the pot roast where they brown the pot roast and then they put it in a slow cooker or simmer it on the stove, and you put in a can of cream of mushroom soup and some of the Lipton.
Sponsor Announcer
Dry.
Steve Doocy
Onion soup and a couple of onions and maybe some carrots. And like four hours later, it's just the best thing you've ever had. So that was the idea of the first cookbook, which was the Happy Cookbook. And it became the number one bestseller and sold out on the first day. The publisher said, okay, bad news. We. We ran out of books. But the good news is, went to another one. It's like, okay, well, we'll think about it. Two years later, we came up with another idea.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
My.
Steve Doocy
These were all my wife's Ideas. And her idea was, okay, if the first one was the Happy Cookbook, why don't we make the second one make the recipes simpler? So the second one became the simply Happy Cookbook. And then they said it became a number. It was the number one best selling book on the New York Times bestseller list for a while. And they said, the book publisher, okay, more bad news. We sold out of books again. But. And the last one was happy in a hurry, so. So we come up with things that were simple, things that were fast. If we did another one, I have suggested to Kathy, since we're keeping with the words that start with an H in an alliterative fashion, I said, what about healthy in a hurry? You know? No, nobody, no, no, bubba, nobody wants it. To buy a cookbook to be healthy. No, you know, healthy just doesn't sound good. So we, we have not, we have not bitten that bite yet where we're gonna do something like that. It's just so far, these three, enough for now. But you never know, maybe we'll write a cookbook for our grandkids.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
We're talking to Steve Doocy from the Fox News Channel, who is literally sitting in the Newark Airport waiting to take off to go to Texas. Steve, while we've got you, just a few more minutes, we were talking about traveling and you said you enjoy traveling. How do you. First off, I hate the security thing. I know we have to have it, but my gosh, what a pain. And the other thing, traveling. Do you just. Do you just Uber everywhere you go or how do you get around when you get on the ground in a foreign place?
Steve Doocy
Well, you know, that's a good question, because if I'm meeting a producer at that location, the producer will rent a car and we'll drive around in the car. Sometimes the producer flies in earlier or later and doesn't make any sense for us to rent two cars. So I'll just Uber to wherever we're going to do the shooting. So we do do a lot of Ubering.
Sponsor Announcer
And.
Steve Doocy
You know, that that is such a difference between traveling today and traveling like 10, 15 years ago, where it's like you always have to go to the Hertz counter. And I can't tell you how many times we have gone to a rental car counter and they go in the last year and they go, you know, and this is not any single company. It's just across the board. It's like, yes, we've got your reservation. We don't have any cars right now. Yeah, wait a minute. And it's like, yeah, you will get the next car. Just go out to the line and wait in line. And there will be 20 people in line. And it's like, wait, 20 people have to return the cars before we get a car. And surprisingly, it doesn't take that long to get a car, but it is just a sign of the time, which shows people are traveling right now, people are going everywhere. I mean, I'm at this airport, I'm at gate C92. If somebody wants to drop by Newark and say, hello, I'm the guy with the earbuds in talking to Bubba. People are just out and about. People want to get out. And I think part of it is after Covid, we were so locked down because we were all positive we were all going to die. Well, as it turns out, we didn't all die. And now we want to go places. And like I was, I've been in New York city for about 36 hours and I cannot tell you how many people are on the streets and are just tourists. Yesterday at Fox and Friends, we did a segment where they wanted me to talk about that Mondami guy who's running for mayor.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah.
Steve Doocy
And I would say, yeah, the socialist, Democratic socialist, he said. But I can't tell you how many people said, we don't live here. I'm from Germany or France or I'm from California. Nobody lived there. I was on Avenue in the Americas looking for people to talk to. And the people who live in New York, of course, it was until 9 o' clock in the morning. Everybody is late. And so it's like, no, sorry, buddy, can't talk to you. So between tourists and New Yorkers, it was, it was challenging to get people to go on the record talking about that.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, I think if he wins, you're going to see fewer people from New York that you can find.
Steve Doocy
Now, I know, and I, you know, I think places like, places down south, like Florida, Texas, Alabama, they're going to see an influx of people moving that way. Also Tennessee, because it's a tax state as is. We were just out in Wyoming, in the Snake river area. I didn't realize they were a no tax state. And they've got. The tax situation there is fantastic. But speaking of travel, I know you've been based down in the, in Alabama for a long time. A couple, couple of weeks ago, we were down in Huntsville and we went to this drone maker and I, I was just surprised at what, what a busy aeronautical hub Huntsville is. I know it's always been Rocket City, usa. But I had no idea. There's a company that manufactures drones and they're trying to level the playing field because when it comes to domestic drone usage in the United states, something like 90% of the drones used by local law enforcement or the FBI or, you know, the US Government are made in China.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Sure.
Steve Doocy
You got a problem with that? It's made in China. Everything's made in China. So this company down in Huntsville is trying to level the playing field and I actually got to drop a bomb on a, on a tank in their parking lot. And it was a lot of fun. It was, it was really cool.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah. Steve, Huntsville is high tech. It is our Silicon Valley, if you would, here in the south. And a lot of people don't realize everything that's going on there. There is a lot going on there all the time. And we're, we're, we're about to have, excuse me if I haven't opened already, the largest FBI facility outside of Quantico. So a lot going on there for sure. Steve, I appreciate your time. I know you've got to hop on the plane, but thank you for taking time to talk to us. And I wanted to ask you, are we still the only radio show that got you a flyover to this point?
Steve Doocy
That's right. How much fun was that? I think you also got the, didn't you bring the governor out? It was awesome.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Oh, yeah, yeah. We, we had a complete Steve Doocy day. And you're very deserving though, Steve. Very deserving. I mean, it was a full party.
Steve Doocy
You know, it was fun.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, Steve, listen, take care of yourself, be safe traveling and we'd love to have you on the podcast again and catch up and just see what is going on with Steve Doocy from Fox News.
Steve Doocy
Fantastic. Thanks, Bubba.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Thank you, Steve. Have a good one.

Well, we're back, folks, here at Bubba on the Lake. And joining us in the studio, a very, very special guest, the lovely Betty Lou. Betty, how are you, honey?
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Hey. I'm doing good. Hanging in there.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, I, I told everybody in the first segment kind of how our last few weeks have been is we ventured back to Chicago for the third time to stay a week in the hospital.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yep. That was a good one.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
And you had the, the duty of helping me and being there and transporting back and forth to the hotel. It's, it's been quite an ordeal.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yes, yes, it really has. I felt like a circus clown at times going through the airport with a walker and crutches and you in a wheelchair and a suitcase. It was, it was challenging. But hey, we made it through. We're back here at home at the lake. Life is good today.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, it's, you know, I keep thinking to myself, next time just limp, you know.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Well, I'm thinking to myself, I just went to exercise this morning. One of us has got to stay in good health. So I'm trying to walk, do all. I just saw a study where walking more than 15 minutes a day for women anyway is really good. The study was very favorable of that. So I've been walking a lot more than 15 minutes a day, so maybe I'm good.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
You've been walking more than that. Running around the house here trying to take care of me.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
I know. Yeah. I'll be glad when we don't have to wash your hair in the kitchen sink so much.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah. I think that is probably one of the things we'd like to move on from.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah. Hopefully after tomorrow.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
We have been having to get sponge baths.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Oh, yeah. And you've milked that for all it's worth, I tell you that. I mean, I looked at you one time, said I draw the line there. Sorry, buddy. You nothing wrong with your hands.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
It's your knee that's you know, during this deep, dark, depressing time, I had to have something to look forward to. No, it's. It. I know it's been tough on you and I appreciate that. We've been back a week.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
A week today and are this afternoon.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
You know, I feel like we're making some progress.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah. I feel like you're a lot stronger than when we left something, you know, if you can't bear weight on it and then you come home and now you're able to almost walk without anything. You're using some crutches, but still graduate much better.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
I've graduated from the walker to crutches. And, you know, we're getting there. We get the wound vac out tomorrow, which I'm very excited.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
And hopefully that will give me the ability to get that a little bit stronger and move around, but.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
What an ordeal. This is a DAG ordeal.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
It really has. Yes. Yes. I mean, I can't even. I can't even go there. I don't know how it was. Just by God's grace, we made it through that week. That was a rough ordeal, for sure.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, I've moved, met a lot of people that have contacted me via. Via email and even some neighbors that we know now has had the same problems.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah. Which we knew that was, you know, a possibility. We had talked to two or three before we had the surgery.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Right.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
And it's across the board. Just random doctors, random areas. It has nothing to do 1 or 2%. Yeah. So it's just our dumb luck, I guess.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
But it was us lucky.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
So anyway. But.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
But we. You know, I've tried to look for God's teaching in this. Not. Not crystal clear. Got some ideas. We've definitely got to catch up on our prayer time.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Prayer time and patience. Yeah. For sure. Persistence, I guess. The three P's.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
I owe me. And as Tony arena used to add some of that, too.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
He had the sixth P in there.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
About poor planning. But that was so funny.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Oh, that was.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, I'll be honest with you. There was a couple of times during the week I thought I may be closer to seeing Tony tonight. You know what I mean?
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah. You've had it rough. So I. I hate it. But I hope we're on the upswing now. Surely.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, I'm kind of a sports car kind of personality. Anyway, I liked everything has to be operating good for me to be happy and carefree, which I like to be.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
I've noticed that.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
And when things start breaking down, it really rolls. The performance of the whole vehicle off, you know?
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
And so. So maybe that. Maybe that's it. I need to learn to be a little more of a. Of a Chevy than a sports car.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
You need to be a glass half full instead of a glass half empty is what you're saying kind of person.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, I don't. I don't. I don't think I'm a glass half empty person unless the glass is half empty. You know, I call that being. I can't lie to myself and just say, oh, yeah, well, this is great. When it ain't, oh, I know old. I've seen it too many times. And I know when. You know, I've seen too many times. When A and B gets together, you end up with C. So when I see A and B getting together, I go, well, here comes C. And people, don't be negative. You're glad I fall. I go, no, this is just experience. Listen, I wish everything was puppy dogs and sunshine. I really do.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yep.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Speaking of which one we have here.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Now, we got little curlicue here.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah. Monitoring the. The podcast as we go.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
It's like my daughter calling me the other day, and she said, what are you doing, Mom? I said, I'm just over here playing with pumpkins, trying to put my pumpkins out for the fall or whatever. And she goes, I really want to be you when I grow up, mom.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah. Yeah, I do, too. It's a great job, it looks like.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Well, I take care of you, so you have no complaints.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
And you're, you know, you're aging well, so I think that's good for the job. You're aging better than the rest of us, I'll tell you that.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
You do what you got to do around here, you know, so.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Oh, boy.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
You're just lucky I hadn't rolled your hair yet. I keep washing it in the sink like I used to do my grandmother's. I said, where's the strawberry swab shampoo.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
When you need it?
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
That strawberry scented.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Well, I haven't been out of the house now in a week. Has it been a.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
It's been a week. Yeah.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
We'll be back.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
So, yeah, you're gonna have to put me in the car and go ride.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Oh, we got the big haircut this afternoon.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah. We're actually gonna go and try to get a haircut at my normal place and get a shampoo so they'll throw me back in the bowl and maybe we can get all that done.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Oh, yeah, I hope so. Yeah, it'll work out. They Also do massages, I hear over there. Scalp massages and all kind of stuff.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah, I need some of that. Well, Betty, thank you for all that you do, honey.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Well, I appreciate our neighbors. They've all been so sweet to bring food. I mean, showed out. They have all. Thank you, thank you, thank you. There any of them that's listening. Thank you.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
You talking about being blessed? We got some great cooks. We do.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
We are. We've truly been blessed everywhere we've lived to have great neighbors. I was texting with one of them the other day that's moved off to Daphne, Alabama now, and we haven't lived next to them. And now it's been a while. Yeah, I don't even know, 10 years. Has it been that long?
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah, we try to stay in touch with them, so. But Betty, thank you so much. We're. We'll go ahead and go to break here and we really appreciate it. And I'd like to get you on a segment of our other podcast, the Tailgate. Tailgate. Tailgate show. Maybe with some of your tailgate special cooks. I mean, you. You cook a pretty mean buffalo dip.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah, buffalo chicken dip. You know, pigs in a blanket. Hey, you know, how can you go wrong with that? Very easy. Sausage. Pinwheels.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Not so easy.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Well, they're easy. It's just trying to get it thawed just right once you get it out.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Of the freezer and then freeze. You don't like, cook and cut and the process is too long because if we have it for breakfast, we end up eating at 11 o'. Clock.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Well, you're not. Your patience level, as far as the food goes, is not there.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
I don't know. No, I'm sorry. You know, I have set eating times. You know, they've been that way for 60 years and kind of want to stick with it.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Yeah, Yeah.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
I mean, I get hangry.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
That was one of the things. When you were in the hospital in Chicago, they wanted you to call the day before and go ahead and order your meals every day. Well, if I. I would leave the hospital at around, I don't know, six, something like that in the evenings and usually sleep in the hotel so we'd both feel good the next day. And so if I had forgotten to order the food, though, I would wake up at midnight in the middle of the night, sit up in the bed and think, oh, no, we didn't order break breakfast.
Banker Bounty Announcer
Oh.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
So anyway. Yeah. Because I know you get hangry pretty quick.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
Yeah, that's on them things. Betty, thank you. Thank you for all you did. Love you, babe.
Betty Lou (Bubba's wife)
Well, love you, too. Better days ahead. Here we go.
Bubba (Bill 'Bubba' Bussey)
I say amen to that. You'll be right back here at Bubba on the Lake.
Dasani Announcer

Steve Doocy
I'll tell you where. He's on the lake.

You know one thing I love about Buffalo Wild wings? You can get wings with any of their 26 sauces and dry rubs for takeout and delivery. That's like bringing an entire B dubs home with you, which you can't do. I tried. I've knocked down so many walls only to then be told to halt construction because I'm not zoned to be a sports boss. Kind of just looks like a big pergola or something. Because of the lack of walls, at least these 26 sauces and dry rubs are available to go. Buffalo Wild Wings. Let's go. Sports bar.
